The great forms of European music are modal, tonal, atonal and aleatory music. The transition from one form to another is a transformation of the immanent musical meaning and the meaning of music. A computational problem well studied in the field of Complexity Theory is Graph Isomorphism. Color Refinement is a classical technique for testing the non-existence of isomorphism between two given graphs. Tinhofer's algorithm is an extension of the Color Refinement algorithm and the same technique does not succeed for all graphs. We characterize Tinhofer graphs algebraically. We propose and study in detail, a new graph hierarchy based on Tinhofer's algorithm which also prove for all the new graph classes in the hierarchy a sufficient condition. We look at the relations of the new graph classes with each other and also with the already known classes. We also facilitate an effective graph isomorphism algorithm for the lower classes in the hierarchy. Getting an algebraic characterization for the new hierarchy classes, understanding the exact location of other graphs in this hierarchy and extending the efficient algorithm for higher graph classes are identified as potential areas of future interest. Given a homomorphism between algebras, there exists an isomorphism between the quotient of the domain by its kernel and the subalgebra in the codomain given by its image. This theorem, commonly known as the first isomorphism theorem, is a fundamental algebraic result. Different problems have been identified in its instruction, mainly related to the abstraction inherent to its content and to the lack of conceptual models to improve its understanding. In response to this situation, in this paper, we present an illustration that explores the narrative and graphical resources of comics with the aim of describing the set-theoretic elements that are involved in the proof of this theorem. Many governments seek the private sector to meet their development goals. One possible means to enlist this support is to impose mandatory or "hard" corporate social responsibility (CSR) requirements on large companies. To shed light on how mandatory CSR could be helpful in this regard, we study the case of India, where the government has required large companies to spend a fraction of their income toward development as CSR since 2014. We analyzed the expenses of leading Indian companies and found statistically significant similarities among these companies in their spending pattern across the different categories, which we interpret as isomorphism. By looking for the government's motivation and the companies' motivations—both perceive the priorities in unmet social needs—we present a conceptual model to explain this isomorphism in CSR expenditure across different categories. Over the last decade, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has sought to assimilate the third sector – non-governmental organizations (NGOs) – through its party-building campaign. This article examines NGOs' strategies in response to this campaign, based on in-depth interviews with 64 NGOs and local cadres. We find that NGOs have developed three main strategies to respond to the CCP's attempts to penetrate their organizations. First, NGOs embedded in the party-state system and those affiliated with private enterprises tend to acquiesce to party building out of habit and for compliance reasons, respectively. Second, those with multiple stakeholders generally compromise in the party-building process, acting as passive compliers if they depend more on non-state resources, or active players if they rely more on state resources. Third, civic NGOs that advocate causes inconsistent with the ruling regime might avoid party building as a resistant strategy, by either disguising their nonconformity or escaping from the control of the ruling regime entirely. NGOs' strategic responses are contingent on their negotiating power, which results from their resource dependence and the party's enforcement dilemmas. This article contributes to our understanding of the recent party-building campaign from an institutional perspective, and enriches our knowledge about relations between the party and the third sector. In the article the author describes the relational sentence model against a background of other sentence models, presents the semantic field of the model on the basis of different semantic groups of verbs, semantic roles and taxonomic classes of the actants. Processes of semantic derivation were described which result in the expansion of the relational model’s field due to agentive predicates of action. New semantics often results in the development of new grammatical paradigms. The present research featured some narrative peculiarities, which could belong both to the narrator or other characters and violate the initial focalization. The paper focuses on zero focalization and evaluation of personages. The research objective was to analyze Russian equivalents of adjective pauvre and substantive bonhomme, which contain subjective evaluation in character’s nomination. The research featured fragments from G. Flaubert’s novel Madame Bovary and its nine Russian translations. They were selected according to the continuous sampling method and then analyzed using the comparative method. The study was based on mono- and bilingual Russian and French dictionaries. The multiple translations often preserved the original evaluation, especially in case of pauvre. Unlike bonhomme, pauvre has more Russian equivalents. Therefore, lexical isomorphism was not always preserved in translation: in some cases, the evaluation was neutralized, or even opposed to the original one, and Russian variants acquired extra semantic and stylistic meanings. These flaws may change the initial narrator-character or character-narrator point of view. They could have resulted from the lack of Russian equivalents. In early translations, they might be explained by the translator’s choice of obsolete words with an archaic effect or adding extra semantic and stylistic information. In some cases, translators might have ignored the original meaning or could have been misled by the overall peculiarities of the narrative. The research can contribute to bilingual corpora of parallel texts, as well as to textbooks on comparative lexicology.

During intercultural communication, it is crucial to interpret correctly and to use appropriately foreign idioms which are culturally marked and reflect linguistic and cultural identity of a speech community. Interlocutors should be aware of the cultural and historical precedents that gave rise to the primary image underlying idiomatic expressions and thus created their unique phraseological worldview. The aim of the research is to find out what is a better predictor of correct idiom interpretation - degree of proficiency in a foreign language or degree of genealogical kinship between the native and foreign languages. The topicality of the research is justified by the need for a deeper understanding of linguistic and cultural identity of native and foreign-language speakers, with a view to facilitate and enhance cross-cultural communication. The working hypothesis is that due to the close genealogical kinship between Russian and Bulgarian and the users advanced level of English, the number of correctly interpreted idioms may vary within a statistically significant medium range. The total sample comprises 5000 idioms (2500 English and 2500 Bulgarian ones). The subsample used in the experiment comprises 60 idioms (30 English and 30 Bulgarian ones) selected from The Oxford Dictionary of Idioms and Nov fraseologichen rechnik na bylgarskiya jezik (Нов фразеологичен речник на българския език) by means of stratified systematic sampling. The main methods used in the research include (1) comparative linguistic and cultural analyses, (2) scientific experimentation, (3) systematic and stratified sampling, and (4) a paired t-test. The experimental research and the paired t-test have proved our hypothesis and demonstrated that Russian participants correctly decode more Bulgarian than English idioms, with intergroup variation being statistically significant. Research findings have implications for cultural linguistics. Since translation loans (calques), isomorphic idioms, and idioms dating back to a common source are interpreted more quickly and more accurately than idioms which contain unique or culturally-loaded elements, such as old-fashioned words or proper names, access to cultural precedents that served as prototypes of set expressions contributes to a more seamless code-switching and enables communicants to penetrate deeper the mentality of a specific linguacultural community and thus become aware of the variability of cultural cognition and conceptualisation.

The notion of boosters and β-filters in stone Almost Distributive Lattices are introduced and their properties are studied, utilizing boosters to characterize the β-filters. It has been derived that every proper β-filter is the intersection of all prime β-filters containing it, and it has also been proved that the set 𝒡β (L) of all β-filters is isomorphic to the set of all ideals of 𝒝0(L). A set of equivalent conditions is derived for 𝒝0(L) to become a relatively complemented Almost Distributive Lattice. Later, some properties of the space of all prime β-filters are derived topologically. Finally, necessary and sufficient conditions are derived for the space of all prime β-filters to be a Hausdorff space.

A spread in PG(n, q) is a set of lines which partition the point set. A parallelism is a partition of the set of lines by spreads. A parallelism is uniform if all its spreads are isomorphic. Up to isomorphism, there are three spreads of PG(3, 4) – regular, subregular and aregular. Therefore, three types of uniform parallelisms are possible. In this work, we consider uniform parallelisms of PG(3, 4) which possess an automorphism of order 2. We establish that there are no regular parallelisms, and that there are 8253 nonisomorphic subregular parallelisms. Together with the parallelisms known before this work, this yields a total of 8623 known subregular parallelisms of PG(3, 4).

In England, the Studio Schools model, focused on developing employability skills in young people, represents a disruptive attempt at educational innovation. Through a documentary analysis of foundational documents, interviews with the model's architects and case studies of five Studio Schools, we map the tensions between theoretical conceptualisations of the model and the messy realities of implementing it. We found that the schools faced a wide range of challenges related particularly to local inter‐school competition, centralised accountability measures and structural assumptions about the 'gold educational standard'. When facing these challenges, the course of least resistance for the schools was an iterative abandonment of the distinctive aspects of the Studio Schools model and a move back towards mainstream approaches to schooling. This process of institutional homogenisation is discussed through the lens of neo‐institutional theory, with the challenges schools faced and their trajectories framed in terms of coercive, mimetic and normative isomorphism. We argue that the use of isomorphism as a heuristic device provides important insight into the process of educational innovation in an educational system that combines competition and the risk of market failure with coercive accountability measures and embedded assumptions about the 'gold standard' schooling pathway. Concerns about expansion in higher education (HE) have increasingly become a focus of educational policymakers in sub-Saharan countries. However, critical analysis and discussion of the expansion of higher education in Mozambique and changes in its composition have received little attention. We used historical track data provided by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Higher and Professional and Technical Education of Mozambique (MCTESTP) from 2008 to 2015 to examine the growth from 58,643 to 116,037 students in the social sciences, humanities and social services (SSHSS). The natural sciences, engineering, agriculture and healthcare (NSEAH) registered growth from 15,051 to 41,092 students. The total number of students registered annually in SSHSS and NSEAH in 49 public and private institutions averaged 84,083 and 28,114 students, respectively, totalling approximately 174,680 students. The data allowed assessing the expansion and trends of HE rooted in practices of isomorphism reflected in diversification and fragmentation of the country's HE system. Our analyses identified coercive and mimetic practices in general patterns of the expansion of HE, revealed by drastic expansion from 2 to 49 institutions, which since 1995 have been fragmented and restructured in response to labour market, political forces, economic and educational market forces. The information presented will support educational policy makers to reformulate suitable models of expansion of higher education for a mass public in Mozambique, framed in the sub-Saharan and international contexts. Topological analysis of the heteropolyhedral MT framework (where M and T are octahedral and tetrahedral cations, respectively) in the eudialyte‐type structure and its derivatives was performed based on a natural tiling analysis of the 3D cation. To analyze the migration paths of sodium cations in these structures, the Voronoi method was used. The parental eudialyte‐type MT framework is formed by isolated ZO6 octahedra, six‐membered [M(1)6O24] rings of edge‐sharing M(1)O6 octahedra, and two kinds of rings of tetrahedra, [Si3O9] and [Si9O27]. Different occupancies of M(2), M(3) and M(4) sites with variable coordination numbers by the additional Q, T* and M* cations, respectively, result in 12 different types of the MT framework. Based on the results of natural tilings calculations as well as theoretical analysis of migration paths, it is found that Na+ ions can migrate through six‐ and seven‐membered rings, while all other rings are too small for the migration. In eight types of MT frameworks, Na+‐ion migration and diffusion is possible at ambient temperature and pressure, while in four other types cages are connected by narrow windows and, as a result, the Na+ diffusion in them is complicated at ambient conditions because of the window diameter, but may be possible either at higher temperatures or under mild geological conditions for long periods of time. The present paper is devoted to study of band preserving isomorphisms of commutative unital regular algebras. Let A be a commutative unital regular algebra over an algebraically closed field F of characteristic zero and let ∇ = ∇ (A) be the Boolean algebra of all idempotents in A. Assume that μ is a finite strictly positive countable-additive measure on ∇ and let A be complete with respect to the metric ρ (x , y) = μ (s (x - y)) , x , y ∈ A. We prove that if B is a subalgebra of A such that B ⊃ ∇ , then for any band preserving monomorphism Φ : B → B there exists a band preserving monomorphism Ψ : A → A such that Ψ | B = Φ. Further we introduce a notion of transcendence degree of a commutative unital regular algebra and prove that two homogeneous unital regular subalgebras of S (Ω) – the algebra of all classes of measurable complex-valued functions on a Maharam homogeneous measure space (Ω , Σ , μ) , are isomorphic if and only if their Boolean algebras of idempotents are isomorphic and their transcendence degrees coincide. As an application we obtain that the regular algebra S(0; 1) – of all classes of measurable complex-valued functions and the algebra AD(0; 1) – of all classes of approximately differentiable functions on [0; 1] are isomorphic. This article will seek to realize that the way in which life is configured in terms of Wille zur Macht in Nietzsche and the tendency to sustain and promote a vital integrality in Freud (the latter, associated with the very objective of psychoanalytic practice) present a similar dynamic regarding how the discourse that refers to the vital is constructed —that is, life and discourse about life present a dynamic isomorphism—. From this, in the conclusion a perspective will be displayed that articulates the discursive development in the works of both, establishing that, when comparing them, it is also possible to speak of a discursive metaisomorphism. The analysis and recognition of fractal image patterns derived from Cayley tables has turned out to play a relevant role for distributing distinct types of algebraic and combinatorial structures into isomorphism classes. In this regard, Dimitrova and Markovski described in 2007 a graphical representation of quasigroups by means of fractal image patterns. It is based on the construction of pseudo-random sequences arising from a given quasigroup. In particular, isomorphic quasigroups give rise to the same fractal image pattern, up to permutation of underlying colors. This possible difference may be avoided by homogenizing the standard sets related to these patterns. Based on the differential box-counting method, the mean fractal dimension of homogenized standard sets constitutes a quasigroup isomorphism invariant which is analyzed in this paper in order to distribute quasigroups of the same order into isomorphism classes. After introducing the notion of a sandwich set Sl(e, f) for any idempotents e, f of a semigroup S belonging to a member of the legal class, it has been proved that Sl(e, f) is a rectangular band. We also prove some results about legal sandwich sets of a semigroup S in a member of the legal class and show that the subsets Sl(e, f)f and eSl(e, f) of the semigroup S, for any idempotents e, f in S, are subsemigroups of S and belong to the same member of the legal class. This paper aims to revive certain aspects of Jerzy Kuryłowicz's studies on Old English meter. The analysis focuses on the notion of isomorphism between linguistic and metrical patterns, which was fundamental to his theory, and which became the cornerstone of modern metrical analysis. Special consideration is given to the problem of metrical equivalences and opacity in the light of late Old English versified prayers. Let Sn be the symmetric group and An be the alternating group on n symbols. In this article, we have proved that if F is a finite field of characteristic p > n, then there does not exist a normal complement of Sn (n is even) and An (n ≥ 4) in their corresponding unit groups U (F S n) and U (F A n). Isomorphism has been widely used to describe why trends penetrate entire organizational fields. However, research so far has neglected the temporal aspects of such diffusion processes and the organizational reasons underlying the introduction of new management tools. We argue that during reform waves, the reasons for adopting the new tools differ over time. Using comparative data from two surveys on quality management in the field of higher education and the health sector, we show that early adopters are more likely to be motivated by instrumental reasons, while late adopters will more likely be motivated by institutional reasons. In this paper, we examine the directed graphs of lattices. We introduce new concepts such as upward directed graphs of lattices and down- ward directed graphs of lattices. In the paper we investigate well-defined solvability of the Dirichlet problem for a second order partial operator-differential equation in a Hilbert space. First we prove a theorem on the isomorphism of the principle part of the given equation. Then it is proved that operator coefficients of the disturbed part of the equation can be chosen from a wider class so that theorems on solvability of a boundary value problem for complete equations hold and are easily verifiable in practical problems. This feature strongly distinguishes our research from the works, where the solvability conditions entail arbitrary smallness of the disturbed part of equations and they are expressed by means of restrictions on the resolvent growth of the appropriate operator beam. The graph Γ 3 (F) = Γ F (x y , x y 2) is known to be of girth eight. When F = F q is a finite field of odd characteristic or F = F ∞ is an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, the graph Γ 3 (F) is conjectured to be the unique one with girth at least eight among those Γ F (f 2 , f 3) up to isomorphism. This conjecture has been confirmed for the case that both f 2 , f 3 are monomials over F q , and for the case that at least one of f 2 , f 3 is a monomial over F ∞. If one of f 2 , f 3 ∈ F q [ x , y ] is a monomial, it has also been proved the existence of a positive integer M such that G = Γ F q M (f 2 , f 3) is isomorphic to Γ 3 (F q M ) provided G has girth at least eight. In this paper, these results are shown to be valid when the restriction on the polynomials f 2 , f 3 is relaxed further to that one of them is the product of two univariate polynomials. Abstract—The paper contains data on rutile, tripuhyite, and unusual Ti-rich cassiterite found in sublimates of active fumaroles at the Tolbachik volcano, Kamchatka, Russia. In contrast to rutile from other geological environments, fumarolic rutile is enriched in minor chalcophile elements. It contains up to (wt %): 35 Sb2O5, 59 SnO2, 11.3 TeO3, 1.9 CuO, 0.4 ZnO, and 18 Fe2O3. Such high Ti and Cu contents in rutile have not been published before, while minor Te contents have been measured for the first time. Cassiterite containing 19–23 wt % TiO2 also is a new variety. Hexavalent tellurium is incorporated into the rutile structure together with trivalent iron according to the substitution scheme Te6+ + 2Fe3+ → 3Ti4+. In fumaroles of the Tolbachik volcano, isostructural rutile, tripuhyite, and cassiterite form a ternary system with several gaps. These minerals were formed at temperatures no lower than 350°C, most likely as a result of interaction between hot volcanic gas (a source for chalcophile elements) and basalt (a source for Ti). In 2015, the minister responsible for local government requested the Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) to restructure municipalities with a view to increasing their financial viability, a process that was duly conducted in 2016. This study assessed the requests for boundary redeterminations received by the MDB after this restructuring took place with a specific focus on those from the Vhembe District. These requests included a call for the reversal of the restructuring that occurred in 2016. The study found that insufficient attention was paid to ethnic identity issues before reorganising the municipalities in the district. Also, financial viability did not improve after 2016 with some municipalities becoming more dependent on government transfers. The argument in this paper is that municipal restructuring in South Africa after 2002 was characterised by isomorphism—international trends were copied based on concepts such as "scale economies" that promised financial viability in amalgamated municipalities. However, South Africa is a developing country with developing country problems—poorly qualified and corrupt managers running municipalities, semi-literate councillors who cannot provide effective oversight and ethnic groups that still set great store on tradition, language and culture. The MDB will have to revisit some of the boundary redetermination decisions of the past. Where errors have occurred, these will have to be corrected. Redetermination decisions in areas such as the Vhembe District need to be based on advice from anthropologists and not just the criteria as laid out in the legislation. China has launched several national academic excellence initiatives since the 1990s, aimed at creating world-class universities. These projects contributed to the achievements of Chinese universities over the past decades and deeply influenced the field of Chinese higher education. This study focuses on the most recent Double World-Class (DWC) project and assesses the impacts of this project on the diversification of leading Chinese universities. Drawing on institutional organization theories, we analyzed how institutions set their goals for the DWC project in development plans. Findings demonstrate that on the one hand, the DWC project reinforced universities' resource dependence on the government, which lead to universities adopting similar structures and practices. On the other hand, facing the intensified competition with domestic peers for the limited slots in the DWC project, Chinese universities differentiated their goals and orientations as they seek to highlight their competitive advantages. This article posits that Steve McCaffery's radical poetico-graphic experimentation, from the 1970s through to the present day, is an exemplary site at which innovations in poetics and technology converge. At stake in McCaffery's multifaceted achievement are, among other issues: the composition of the poetic page as a screen, with its integral design and integrity; the transition between analog and digital print organisations, in thinking as in technology; the history of printing, as evidenced by his deployment of the transitional technology of the IBM Selectric typewriter in the composition of images as well as texts; and the notion that graphics (figures, cartoons, maps, and charts – with and without words) can be imbued with the figuration and articulatory nuance characteristic of verse. Throughout McCaffery's double compilation volume, Seven Pages Missing (2000 and 2002), the poet explicitly registers the transformations in communications, information, and technology that he could not help but experience around him. His poetic experiments are concurrent with luminous introductions to the cybernetic universe furnished by the likes of Anthony Wilden and Douglas Hofstadter. McCaffery's experiments, in their boldness and scope, also shed light on the venerable, ongoing cultural play between analog and digital: not period-specific or bound to particular technologies of calculation, communications, and reproduction. This article analyses the reasons why Russia adopts foreign norms in the sphere of higher education, looking at how isomorphism, Transnational Advocacy Networks and the global market for education have brought about the country’s integration in the global network of universities. It investigates how Russia strives to adopt international and western educational norms by adhering to the Bologna process and launching projects such as 5-100 to reinforce the competitiveness of its universities on the global stage, but remains concerned about security and national identity issues. These fears have resulted in the government prioritizing the adherence to formal criteria while preserving the historical content of its higher education, thus leading to a dichotomy between substance and structure. This mismatch between the organization of higher education and its content leads to an ineffective implementation of international norms but also to significant disruptions in the existing system. Attempts to levy the advantages of both systems have had opposite results. Indeed, the risks of sudden change are multifold: the sudden “catch-up” mode leads to resistance and to a decline in the overall quality of education in those universities lacking the institutions to support the fast tempo of change. The authors outline the benefits of an incremental adaptation to the international higher education system and the need to adjust international norms to local conditions, by building off the assets of the country’s Soviet heritage. The benefits of involving Transnational Experience and Experience Networks in the implementation of international norms are also reviewed.

The purpose of this paper is to introducing a computational method to construction and classification of finite hyperfields (in the sense of Krasner). In this regards first we introduce a mathematical method to produce hyperfields from a family of a non-empty subsets of a given multiplicative group under specific conditions and then we apply this method to enumerate all finite hyperfields of order less that 7, up to isomorphism by a computer programming. Of course this program can be used to produce hyperfields of finite higher orders, but it’s commotional complexity is of high order and it must be used of very high-speed computers system.

Non-financial reporting has become a concern of managers because companies are evaluated financially, but also social. The objective of this paper is to show the degree of observance of the items within the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the understanding of the ESG dimension (environmental, social and governance) and the conformity of the sustainability reports with G4 GRI Standards, of the Romanian companies indexed on the official website of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Thus, to achieve this objective, were analysed the companies indexed on the official website of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The research method used is based on awarding scores for the level of compliance of the reports with a rating grid developed from the literature review. The case study highlighted three types of isomorphisation mechanisms: coercive, normative and the mimetic isomorphism mechanism, in order to produce sustainability reports. The study demonstrates the growing tendency of companies to publish sustainability reports in line with GRI Standards every year.

The non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs mefenamic acid (MFA) and tolfenamic acid (TFA) have a close resemblance in their molecular scaffold, whereby a methyl group in MFA is substituted by a chloro group in TFA. The present study demonstrates the isomorphous nature of these compounds in a series of their multicomponent solids. Furthermore, the unique nature of MFA and TFA has been demonstrated while excavating their alternate solid forms in that, by varying the drug (MFA or TFA) to coformer [4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP)] stoichiometric ratio, both drugs have produced three different types of multicomponent crystals, viz. salt (1:1; API to coformer ratio), salt hydrate (1:1:1) and cocrystal salt (2:1). Interestingly, as anticipated from the close similarity of TFA and MFA structures, these multicomponent solids have shown an isomorphous relation. A thorough characterization and structural investigation of the new multicomponent forms of MFA and TFA revealed their similarity in terms of space group and structural packing with isomorphic nature among the pairs. Herein, the experimental results are generalized in a broader perspective for predictably identifying any possible new forms of comparable compounds by mapping their crystal structure landscapes. The utility of such an approach is evident from the identification of polymorph VI of TFA from hetero-seeding with isomorphous MFA form I from acetone–methanol (1:1) solution. That aside, a pseudopolymorph of TFA with dimethylformamide (DMF) was obtained, which also has some structural similarity to that of the solvate MFA:DMF. These new isostructural pairs are discussed in the context of solid form screening using structural landscape similarity.

The aim of this paper is to present the merit of voluntary environmental information in the sustainability reports of the Romanian companies on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) website (year 2018). The paper is based on a qualitative research on Triple Bottom Line Reporting (TBL) the initial structure of non-financial information. The research method is expected to be based on scoring, thus showing the level of conformity of reports based on literature analysis and the influence of the three types of isomorphism mechanisms This paper reveals the level of conformity of Romanian companies using the sustainability reports in accordance with the conceptual framework of TBL and GRI.

In this article, topology transformations of power converters are realized through the dual and isomorphic principles for both the planar and nonplanar circuits. The topology cycling phenomenon is discovered in the topology transformation process and investigated in the power electronics field for the first time. It fills the gap between the dual converter and isomorphic converter and reveals the fundamental relationships among various power converters (existing and/or future ones). By utilizing this new discovery, the operation analysis, modulation/control design, topology derivation can be facilitated in a more comprehensive way. Numerous examples with both theoretical and experimental verifications show the feasibility and versatility of this work.

The aim of this study is to analyze whether Institutional Development Plans (IDP) are strategic documents or simply a response to seeking legitimacy in the face of regulatory pressures. This is a qualitative study based on information from 20 IDPs of Brazilian universities, categorized as private, public, community, or confessional. To analyze the IDPs, the content analysis methodology was used. As a result, it was found that most IDPs are much more descriptive documents, with operational goals and plans, than documents with strategic characteristics. On the other hand, in most of the documents analyzed, there was evidence of the importance and relevance of constructing an IDP as a benefit for the management and the university organization as a whole. It was concluded that IDPs tend to be documents that seek to provide universities with legitimacy in relation to the actors involved. In other words, they converge towards institutional isomorphism. Thus, they are not prepared, and used only due to institutional demands, but mainly due to legal impositions.
