Aim of the study: to evaluate the effect of meglumine sodium succinate (MSS) on the efficacy of anticoagulant therapy in patients with severe COVID-19 infection complicated by bilateral community-acquired pneumonia.Materials and methods. Overall efficacy of treatment was analyzed in 12 patients hospitalized to ICU with the diagnosis of severe confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus infection (U07.1) complicated by bilateral multisegmental pneumonia. All patients received prophylactic anticoagulation with unfractionated heparin. The patients were divided into two groups: 7 of them received a multi-electrolyte solution containing MSS 5 ml/kg daily for the entire ICU stay (3-10 days) as a part of therapy; 5 patients received a similar volume of a conventional multi-electrolyte solution containing no metabolically active substrates and comprised a control group. Coagulation parameters were measured in arterial and venous blood of all patients at the following stages: 1) upon admission to the ICU; 2) 2-4 hours after the first dose of heparin; 3) 8-12 hours after the second dose of heparin; 4) 24 hours after the beginning of intensive therapy. On the 28th day of follow-up, mortality, duration of ICU stay, and incidence of thrombotic complications in the groups were evaluated. Nonparametric methods of statistical analysis were used to assess intragroup changes and intergroup differences.Results. The group of patients administered with MSS had significantly fewer thromboembolic events during 28 days of treatment and shorter ICU stay. These patients responded faster to anticoagulant therapy, which was suggested by more distinct changes in coagulation parameters, i.e. increased APTT, persisting viable thrombocyte population, reduced D-dimer and fibrinogen levels.Conclusion. The metabolic action of succinate possibly increases endothelial resistance to damaging factors and reduces its procoagulant activity. Осложнение: двусторонняя полисегментарная пневмония. Все пациенты получали профилактическую антикоагулянтную терапию нефракционированным гепарином. Пациентов разделили на две группы: 7 из них получили в составе терапии полиэлектролитный раствор, содержащий меглюмина натрия сукцинат в суточной дозе 5 мл/кг в течение всего срока нахождения в ОРИТ (3-10 дней); 5 пациентов получили аналогичный объем обычного полиэлектролитного раствора, не содержащего метаболически активных субстратов, и составили группу контроля. В артериальной и венозной крови всех пациентов измеряли показатели коагулограммы на этапах:1) при поступлении в ОРИТ; 2) через 2-4 часа после введения первой дозы гепарина; 3) через 8-12 часов после введения повторной дозы гепарина; 4) спустя 24 часа после начала интенсивной терапии. На 28-й день наблюдения оценивали летальность, длительность лечения в ОРИТ и частоту тромботических осложнений в группах. Для оценки внутригрупповой динамики и межгрупповых различий использовали непараметрические методы статистического анализа.Результаты. В группе пациентов, получивших меглюмина натрия сукцинат, отмечали значимое снижение частоты тромбоэмболических событий в течение 28 суток лечения, а также сокращение сроков лечения в ОРИТ. Пациенты данной группы быстрее отвечали на проводимую антикоагулянтную терапию, что выражалось в более отчетливой динамике показателей коагулограммы: прирост АЧТВ, сохранение популяции тромбоцитов, снижение концентрации D-димеров и фибриногена.Заключение. The literature on the green behaviors adopted by individuals in workplace settings has grown significantly over the past decade. Many studies have examined the factors associated with individual actions. However, the comparability of the studies conducted on the subject is a common concern, mainly because of the wide range of measurement tools based on different sets of items used in such research. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the degree of methodological maturity of green workplace behaviors based on a systematic review of research published on the subject between 1977 and 2016. Five major trends were identified from the 53 papers reviewed as part of this research: (a) the predominance of scales for measuring “green office” behaviors, (b) the redundancy of certain items, (c) the limited efforts devoted to measuring counterproductive green behaviors, (d) the emergence of new subcategories of proenvironmental behaviors, and (e) and the abundance of scales measuring voluntary green behaviors (extra-role). Through an analysis of existing measurement tools, this article proposes a decision tree designed to help scholars choose appropriate items for their studies. This may, in turn, contribute to the literature on green workplace behaviors by reducing bias and limiting the unnecessary creation of new measurement scales.

Purpose – The aim of this study was to identify and quantitatively assess the importance of psychosocial and organizational factors that influence employees’ intentions to engage in pro-environmental behaviors at the workplace. Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire based on the theory of planned behavior was completed by 318 employees. To validate three suggested hypotheses, a series of path analysis models were constructed using AMOS software. Findings – The theory of planned behavior explained 79 percent and 37.7 percent of variance in predicting intentions of employees to travel to work using alternative transportation and to make eco-suggestions directed toward the workplace, respectively. While organizational barriers did not play a significant role in predicting intentions to use alternative transportation, some organizational obstacles (opinion of colleagues, required paperwork) influenced workers’ intention to make eco-suggestions. Originality/value – This is one of the first articles in the field of pro-environmental workplace behaviors in which the theory of planned behavior is implemented in a systematic manner (qualitative exploration of beliefs followed by their quantitative evaluation). This article contributes to the existing literature by shedding light on the disproportionate influence of organizational and psychosocial factors on pro-environmental workplace behaviors

This paper is aimed at analyzing, through a counter-accounting approach, to what extent companies considered to be sustainability leaders release transparent and balanced information on their commitment to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A content analysis was conducted on the sustainability reports of a sample of 28 companies from the UNGC LEAD program, and the results were compared with information disclosed by external sources not controlled by the studied organizations. Corporate disclosure counter-accounting reveals that more than 80% of the significant negative events related to LEAD companies were not reported or were only partially reported in their sustainability reports. Contrary to researchers' initial expectations, the length of the sustainability reports was not positively associated with their completeness or transparency. The findings of this study contribute to the literature on bluewashing and counter-accounting. They question the performance of companies considered to be sustainability leaders and the transparency of their reporting practices. From a managerial standpoint, the analysis of the results points at the necessity to shift the focus from the quantity of reports to their quality and transparency.

The environmental performance of organizations largely depends on the voluntary participation of employees in greening activities. Workers in any organization can voluntarily perform numerous environmental behaviors, such as recycling, carpooling, or using video-conferencing rather than travelling. Yet, in many organizations, these behaviors remain limited and the obstacles to their development have not been the object of specific studies. Pro-environmental behaviors are not monolithic and may vary considerably according to the degree of discretion involved. The objective of this paper is to analyze, through a systematic review of the empirical literature on proenvironmental behaviors in the workplace, the obstacles to green actions for employees and how such barriers might be overcome. The discretionary nature of certain behaviors is questioned and different categories of pro-environmental individual conduct are proposed. The paper sheds more light on the personal and organizational barriers to voluntary pro-environmental behaviors: while the former are associated with both intentions and actions, the latter have so far been found to primarily affect actual behaviors. Suggestions for future research and practical implications for managers are also proposed.

The theory of planned behavior (TPB) allows researchers to identify the determinants of environmental behavior and subsequently target these factors in interventions. Multiple studies on conservation behaviors have recently applied this theoretical framework in both organizational and domestic settings. To shed more light on how the TPB was used in these studies, we conducted a literature review with the following objectives: 1) explore which individual green behaviors were studied though the lens of the TPB, 2) understand how scholars have used the theory and what variance the theory has helped to explain, and 3) formulate recommendations, if necessary, for improving the use of the theory. The review of the results from 126 publications demonstrated that the majority of scholars tend to overlook the importance of identifying and evaluating indirect variables (beliefs) that affect behaviors. More than half of the analyzed articles did not report the amount of explained variance, which undermines the principal strength of the theory. Scholars could obtain more substantial and consistent results if the guidelines regarding the application of the theory are consistently respected. More specifically, four aspects should be considered in the application of the theory: choice of framework, decision to extend the original model, methodology, and results. To help scholars overcome these commonly encountered problems, this article suggests a roadmap with several guiding questions and possible answers.
