- Abstract
This report is included in the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) environmental protection technology series which describes research performed to develop and demonstrate instrumentation, equipment and methodology to repair or prevent environmental degradation from point and non-point sources of pollution. This document is a summary of a nationwide study to determine the current knowledge and techniques of land application of municipal treatment plant effluents and industrial wastewaters. Specific application techniques addressed include irrigation, overland flow and infiltration - percolation of industrial and municipal wastewater. Additional sections of this report deal with wastewater and site characteristics, system design and operation, environmental effects, public health considerations, and cost evaluation. A bibliography and glossary of terms are included. (CS)
