376. Quantitative proteomics analysis of human vitreous in rhegmatogenous retinal detachment associated with choroidal detachment by data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry.

Abstract

The prognosis of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) with choroidal detachment (RRDCD) is often poor and complicated. This study focused on the identification of the characteristic proteins and signal pathways associated with the etiology of RRDCD and to provide guidance for diagnosis and treatment of RRDCD. In this study, vitreous humor samples were obtained from 16 RRDCD patients, 14 with RRD, 12 with idiopathic epiretinal macular membrane (IEMM), and 5 healthy controls from donated corpse eyes. Data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry and bioinformatics analysis were employed to identify differentially expressed proteins (DEPs). In the vitreous humor, 14,842 peptides were identified. Patients with RRDCD had 249 DEPs (93 upregulated and 156 downregulated), with 89 in patients with RRD and 61 in patients with IEMM. Enrichment analysis of the GO and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes DEP databases indicated functional clusters related to inflammation and immunity, protein degradation and absorption, cell adhesion molecules (CAMs), the hedgehog signaling pathway, and lipid metabolism. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis showed that DEPs with positive co-expression of RRDCD participated in immune-related pathways led by the complement and coagulation cascade, whereas DEPs with negative co-expression of RRDCD participated in protein degradation and absorption, CAMs, and the hedgehog signaling pathway. 379. Can Peritumoral Radiomics Improve the Prediction of Malignancy of Solid Pulmonary Nodule Smaller Than 2 cm?

Abstract

Rationale and Objectives: To compare the ability of radiomics models including the perinodular parenchyma and standard nodular radiomics model in lung cancer diagnosis of solid pulmonary nodules smaller than 2 cm.Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, the computed tomography (CT) scans of 206 patients with a lung nodule from a single institution in 2012-2019 were collected. For each nodule, four volumes of interest were defined using the gross tumor volume (GTV) and peritumoral volumes (PTVs) of 5, 10, and 15 mm around the tumor.Results: Radiomics models created from GTV, GTV plus 5 mm of PTV, GTV plus 10 mm of PTV, and GTV plus 15 mm of PTV achieved AUCs of 0.89, 0.81, 0.81, and 0.73, respectively, in the validation cohort for the diagnostic classification of benign and malignant pulmonary nodules. The performance of the models gradually decreased as the PTV increased. Wavelet features were the primary features identified in optimal radiomics signatures (2/3 in R, 4/5 in GTV plus 5 mm PTV, 3/4 in GTV plus 10 mm PTV, 2/3 in GTV plus 15 mm PTV).Conclusion: Our study indicated that the radiomics signatures of GTV had a good prediction ability in distinguishing benign and malignant solid pulmonary nodules smaller than 2 cm on CT. However, the radiomics feature of the surrounding parenchyma of the nodule did not enhance the effectiveness of the diagnostic model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

380. Spatial and Temporal Dynamics of Surface Water in China from the 1980s to 2015 Based on Remote Sensing Monitoring.

Abstract

Climate change and human interference play significant roles on dynamic of water body abundance, and drive related hydrological, biochemical and social/economic processes. Documenting and monitoring surface water area with high resolution multi-temporal satellite imagery provide new perspective to evaluate the dynamics of surface water area, especially in continental and global scale. In this study, based on the Landsat images from 1980s to 2015, we surveyed the spatial and temporal variation of surface water area, including rivers, lakes and reservoirs, in 10-yr temporal slice across China. Furthermore, the driving forces of the variation has been identified to reveal the interaction of water bodies and the changing environment. The results show that, the water surface area expanded over all three decades with strong spatial and temporal difference, despite the drier and warmer climate background; although lakes comprise the largest portion of the surface water area, the highest contributor of surface water expansion was new constructed reservoir located in the densely populated region; climatic parameters alteration, like precipitation and temperature, resulted in the water surface expansion in the northwestern basin by growing water input linked with rain and glacier melting; in the rest part of China, rise of water surface area was predominately attributed to human relocation of water resource, which yielded more new water storage area than the disappeared water body caused by less precipitation and stronger evapotranspiration.
