124. Electrodynamic model of combustion chamber using subcritical streamer discharge to ignite fuel mixture

Abstract

Various electrodynamic models of a combustion chamber, in which an initiated subcritical streamer discharge is used to ignite a combustible mixture, are considered. To localize the discharge in the working chamber, discharge initiators are used based on half-wave electromagnetic vibrators with resonant properties. The dependences of the structure of the electric fields that form the discharge on the geometric parameters of the discharge initiator are obtained on the basis of numerical calculations, and the issues of matching the chamber with the radiation generator are considered. Comparison of the calculation options for different positions of the initiator of the discharge in relation to the optical centreline of the camera. Possibilities for further enhancement of the field in the working zone at the poles of the microwave discharge initiator, which is required for the formation of discharges with a developed streamer structure at elevated gas pressures in the combustion chamber, are discussed. The ways of increasing the resulting electromagnetic field in the area of vibrators for the formation of discharges with a volumetric structure have been determined. Abstract

The influence of the geometric and regime parameters of a resonance infrared jet-edge generator on the formation, in its resonance tube, of a sound field with a predominant discrete tone at the fundamental frequency of the generator resonant cavity was investigated. A parametric investigation of the self-sustained oscillation processes arising in the resonance tube of the generator as a result of the interaction of a subsonic gas jet and a supersonic one with its resonant cavity has been performed. The nonstationary structure of the gas flow inside this cavity, characteristic of the self-sustained oscillation interaction of a gas jet with an obstacle, is discussed. Prominence is given to the study of the pattern of the gas flow inside the resonant cavity and the amplitude-frequency characteristics of the wave process in it. Recommendations for designing a resonance infrasound jet-edge generator with regard for its use in actual practice are given. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Models of shock-wave processes induced by intense radiation fluxes in gas-disperse systems have been developed. The continuum coupling penetration model is used to simulate mixture motion. The problem of interaction of radiation with an individual particle is formulated to calculate source terms connected with the interphase mass, momentum, and energy transfer. Solution of a microproblem and of the problem of calculation of gasdynamic variables are found in parallel. Agreement of micro- and macrolevel problems ensured with the aid of iteration interrelationship in a computational procedure. Lengthwise distributions of mixture parameters and influence of different factors on the energy influx efficiency have been investigated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) was isolated from rat peritoneal leukocytes with a yield of 51% and A430/A280 = 0.75 - 0.80, and its physicochemical properties were studied. The molecular weight of the MPO is about 150 kD. The MPO was assayed for amino acid content. We used substrate mixture containing phenol, 4-aminoantipyrine, and H2O2 to detect 10(-10) M of the enzyme. The MPO was localized in rat blood neutrophils using polyclonal anti-MPO antibodies and secondary fluorescein isothiocyanate-labeled antibodies. Immunofluorimetric assay (IFMA) was developed for quantitative measurement of the MPO. The MPO and leukocytes can iodinate BSA using NaI or thyroxine as the source of iodine.
