In this study, it was aimed to determine the 21st century learner skills usage levels (cognitive skills, autonomous skills, collaboration and flexibility skills, and innovation skills) of Turkish language teacher candidates in terms of some variables (gender, grade level, success status). In this study, singular screening, causal comparison and relational screening models were used together within the framework of quantitative research approaches. The respondents were 259 students studying in Turkish Language Teaching Program of Turkish and Social Sciences Department at Balikesir University Necatibey College of Education in the 2018-2019 academic year. The "21st Century Learner Skills Usage Scale" developed by Orhan Göksün (2016) was used as the data collection tool. The scoring of the five-point Likert-type scale consisting of 31 items was made from never (1) to always (5). The 31 items in the scale were gathered under four factors as cognitive skills, autonomous skills, collaboration and flexibility skills, and innovation skills. In the analysis of the data obtained, mean for descriptive analysis, t-test and analysis of variance techniques for comparisons made by the related variables were used. In the study, it was found that the 21st century learner skills usage levels of Turkish language teacher candidates differed in favor of males only in the innovation skills dimension of the scale. It was concluded that as the grade level and grade point average increased, the level of 21st century learner skills use of the participants also increased.

Autonomous Republics, although situated within the borders of a state, have the right to govern themselves within their own borders. The most concrete indicator of a state's autonomy is its flag, its national language, its national culture and its national education. In this context, the language and education policies come into play in the building of a new political union and a national identity. For example, Gagauzia (or Gagauzia Autonomous Region), which was shaped by many historical periods from the Ottoman Empire (from the 16th century until 1812) to the Russian Empire (1721-1917) and to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (1922-1991), is nowadays within the borders of the Republic of Moldova. It is an autonomous republic with the right to self-government. This paper aims to analyze the language and education policies determined and applied for the Gagauz Turks in Moldova. It is possible to argue that there is a relationship between the notions of "autonomous republic" and "language and education policy." In the autonomous republic, this policy will be described as a policy-based not only on the national identity, but also the plurilingualism.

The aim of this study is to present the qualities of 7th grade Turkish skill-based questions due to levels of reading skills and proficiency that used to prepare PISA reading skills questions. With these questions, secondary school students are prepared for national and international exams. The case study pattern has been used in the study, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The data obtained through document review were analyzed by content analysis by three field experts in Turkish education using a question analysis table. As a result of the examination it is determined that Turkish skill questions; include examples of all text types in PISA reading skills; mostly the text types which have continuations are preferred amongst the text types in PISA reading skills; big part of the questions are in a comprehensible level in terms of cognitive processes that the reader interacts with the text; and Turkish skill questions have problems for ''1b, 1a, 2nd and 3rd'' levels in the proficiency levels of PISA reading skills. As the result of the study, it is emerged that there is a necessity to provide a balanced dispersion for PISA reading skills, its dimensions and levels. In addition, there is also another necessity for arrangements to meet high level qualifications and Turkish skills questions should be created by taking into account all of the cognitive processes used in PISA that the reader interacts with the text.

In this study, in which the levels of ethnocentrism of those who teach Turkish as a foreign language were examined in line with various variables, the general survey model within the scope of descriptive research was implemented. The research was carried out with 185 instructors who teach Turkish as a foreign language in various state or private institutions in the 2020-2021 academic year. In order to assess the ethnocentrism level of teachers, a 5-item Likert-type Ethnocentrism Scale, comprised of 20 questions, developed by Neuliep and McCroskey (1997) and which was later adapted to Turkish by Üstün (2011) was used. In the study, it was found that the levels of ethnocentrism of those who teach Turkish as a foreign language differ significantly according to such variables as gender, age, their holding a Turkish teaching certificate for foreigners and to the MA program they graduated from, yet it was also concluded that there was no significant difference according to the other variables as the institution they work for, the department they studied in, whether they know a foreign language, where they teach Turkish, and their intercultural communication competence.

The aim of this study is to investigate the self-efficacy perceptions of Social Studies teachers about the basic skills in the 2018 Social Studies curriculum. In Turkey, according to changes made in the Social Studies curriculum in 2018, Social Studies lessons are given to students in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades, and comprise 27 basic skills, This study investigated the self-efficacy perceptions of 143 Social Studies teachers working in Istanbul province. The study found that the majority of teachers felt themselves to be "inefficient" in the following skills: research, perception of change and continuity, critical thinking, entrepreneurship, legal literacy, collaboration, using evidence, perceiving space, political literacy, drawing and interpreting table, graphics and diagrams, innovative thinking, and perceiving time and chronology. Additionally, it was found that the teachers believed that they were at a "good" or "very good" level of efficacy concerning the following skills: environmental literacy, digital literacy, empathy, financial literacy, observation, map literacy, communication, stereotypical judgment and prejudice, decision making, location analysis, media literacy, self-control, problem solving, social participation, and the correct, beautiful, and effective use of Turkish. This indicates that most Social Studies teachers who participated in the study perceived themselves as being at a positive/efficient level in 16 of the 27 skills. Therefore, the efficacies of Social Studies teachers regarding the basic skills of the 2018 Social Studies curriculum could provide opportunities for these individuals to apply effective strategies, methods, and techniques for their students. In the study, the effect of hierarchical vocabulary activities prepared in accordance with Gass's Second Language Acquisition Model developed by Ates (2016) on students' written expression skills and writing anxiety was investigated. While the determined target words were taught to the experimental group with hierarchical vocabulary activities, the supervised group was kept in a regular diary. The method of the study consists of an experimental design with pre-test-post-test-measurement and supervised group. Experimental and supervised groups consisted of foreign students studying at Inonu-TÖMER in the 2017-2018 academic year. An essay was written to the students as a pre-test and a post-test, and the Writing Anxiety Scale was applied. No significant difference was found between the experimental and supervised groups of the Written Expression Rubric, which is used to score the compositions, in the pre-test and post-tests. It was concluded that the privatized instruction applied to both groups was beneficial for students' written expressions. There was a significant difference between the experimental and supervised groups in terms of Writing Anxiety Scale pre-test scores. It was determined that the writing anxiety of the experimental group was higher in the pre-test.

Only a few applications to teach Turkish as a foreign language through remote or distance learning platforms have been developed in recent years in Turkey. Distance Turkish Learning Portal (DTLP), developed by Yunus Emre Institute to teach Turkish remotely, is one of these applications. An unexpected interest in this practice was observed after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the portal is still in the trial phase. For this reason, although user feedback is vital in order to improve the portal, no academic research on this issue has been conducted yet. In this context, the researcher aims to evaluate the Distance Turkish Learning Portal as regards students' opinions. For this purpose, a qualitative research model, which is frequently used in educational sciences, was used to collect data, and a subsequent case study was carried out for an in-depth evaluation of their beliefs. The methods were employed to effectively and reliably collect data on learners' beliefs on the issue in question. Data was collected through a Google form that was shared with the participants. As a result of the research, it is understood that the participants enjoyed using the portal in that, firstly, it is free; secondly, it provides the opportunity to get to know Turkish culture, and finally, it also supports autonomous and self-learning. On the other hand, the technical infrastructure of the portal is insufficient, and there is no instructional or tutorial support, lack of interactive speaking features, besides the number of videos have been found to be inadequate by the users. At the end of the study, based on the findings, some suggestions were offered by the researchers to improve the Distance Turkish Learning Portal.

Nowadays, distance education programs are increasing with the COVID-19 outbreak. Due to the number of options based on distance education, it is aimed to provide a higher quality to service users. One of the important methods to increase the quality of distance education services is SWOT analysis. SWOT Analysis enables organizations to see their strengths (S) and weaknesses (W) and position them according to Opportunity (O) and Threats (T) that may occur in the external environment. The method of this research is phenomenology, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group of the research was selected by purposeful sampling technique. The analysis forms were collected from the lecturers via digital mail on a voluntary basis. Therefore, the study reached 48 instructors teaching Turkish as a foreign language in different regions of Turkey. In the research, a SWOT analysis form (4 questions) was used to understand distance education practices. The data were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive analysis technique. According to the results, the strength of teaching Turkish as a foreign language in distance education is "flexibility in time and place" with a ratio of 58%. Again, "flexibility in time and space" was evaluated as an opportunity with a rate of 42%. The weakest aspect of teaching Turkish in distance education seems to be "technical problems" with a rate of 29%. The instructors rated the "lack of the classroom environment" as the biggest threat with 30%. Finally, it can be asserted that the findings of the study sheds light on distance education practices in the COVID-19 pandemic process in terms of teaching Turkish to foreigners.

While the significance of corpus-based research in the teaching of foreign language and native language is increasing, the need for such studies is also increasing accordingly. The priority of the vocabulary taught in language education are identified through corpus-based studies in line with the international criteria set in the relevant field. Corpora and sub-corpora consisting of many layers, written and oral, improve the efficiency of the teaching/learning process for both teachers and learners. Corpus-based studies aiming to create word lists to be taught at the basic level are significant in this context to meet the needs of learners and teachers. In this study, 7 different A1 level textbooks and about 114-thousand-word data set used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language were examined based on the relevant corpus, and the type/token ratios of the sub-corpus were identified. The most frequently used words in A1 corpus in the field of Turkish teaching as a foreign language are classified according to their types. Frequency lists of the words that are considered to be functional and useful in the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language for both teachers and learners have been prepared; 250 most frequently used nouns, adjectives and verbs; 750 different words, which are considered to be a fairly comprehensive number for the basic level, are presented as suggestions within the scope of this study.

The aim of this study is to analyse the discourses of prospective teachers who were taking teaching Turkish to foreigners course about the effects of COVID-19 on the future of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Analysing the discourses of prospective teachers who will teach in the field about the effects of COVID-19 on the future of teaching Turkish as a foreign language is important in terms of providing a more quality language education during and after COVID-19 process. The presents study is a qualitative study. The study group consists of 59 students studying at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Eregli Faculty of Education, department of Turkish language teaching since they were receiving teaching Turkish as a foreign language course and they will graduate from the related department. Open-ended questions are applied to the participants in the study. Critical discourse analysis was carried out to analyse the discourses of the participants. As a result of the study, it was concluded that although COVID-19 had a negative influence on language teaching activities, with positive state policies and with more frequent use of distance education and online education, these problems have been overcome and more people can be interested in Turkish in the future.

This study aims to determine the relationship between cultural interaction and language in teaching Turkish as a foreign language and reveal its contribution to the learning process. Therefore, in this study, the cultural exchange of a Lebanese international student studying at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University was evaluated in the context of language learning performance. The narrative research design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. The primary purpose of narrative research is to examine individuals' lifestyles through the stories they produce. In this study, the student's social environment, school, and friendship relations were taken into account. His daily life's contributions to language skills, academic life, and social relations were tried to be measured. The target language has been observed in the cultural life experienced by the international student. Thus, through narrative research, the student's cultural world was entered as a language learning experience. In the study, the student's vocabulary learning, communication skills, and the ability to use language in academic life were emphasized. The semi-structured interview method was used as a data collection tool in the study. After deciphering each interview, attention was paid to ensure that the data obtained were sufficiently clear. The descriptive analysis method was applied to the collected data. As a result, it has been observed that international students who learn Turkish as a foreign language hugely benefits from cultural interaction in their foreign language proficiency, communication skills, and non-verbal behavior. It has been determined that international students behave pragmatically while communicating and classify words semantically in this process. It has been remarked that vocabulary learning, and pronunciation skills develop faster in cultural life, and their anxiety states decrease as they move away from the classroom setting. It was also understood in the study that different language families affect language acquisition. Besides, it has been determined that students who have difficulties comprehending language logic experience some degree of delay in their speaking skills.

The purpose of this research is to set the characteristics of the contents of the course books that are prepared for the lessons of mother tongue education in secondary schools in different countries. Within the frame of the purpose, the content of the course books in Germany, Austria, Finland, Northern Macedonia, Hungary and Turkey were analyzed in three aspects. The first of all is about which sections are included in the general content, the second is about how the classification of the content was made and finally the third one includes how the language skills and the fields of learning are placed in the content. Figured in a quantitative way and the document of the research in which the content analyzed is composed by the 23 course books used in the countries that are mentioned above. In the analysis of the data 3 arguments and a checklist that enables to make a systematic evaluation consists of 28 items is used. As a result of the research, it is confirmed that the content of mother language course books in countries differ from each other due to the general properties of content; while classifying the course books generally multiplied structure dominated by thematic, functional and grammatical segmentation, it has been determined that all language skills, vocabulary teaching and grammar, both theoretical and practical, are included in the books. At the end of the study, it is recommended to take the course books in Germany and Hungary as an example while preparing the Turkish course books.

This study aimed to adapt the Perceived Self Efficacy toward STEM Knowledge Survey, developed by Lee, Hsu, and Chang (2019), into Turkish to measure teachers' self-efficacy perceptions regarding STEM education. For this purpose, validity and reliability analyzes of the survey were made. Participants were 204 in-service teachers who were working in different branches and from various cities in Turkey. A confirmatory factor analysis was performed to investigate whether the survey showed a similar structure with six factors and 30 items as the original version. The study findings showed that the adapted survey consisted of six factors, namely, scientific inquiry, technology use, engineering design, mathematical thinking, and synthesized knowledge of STEM and attitudes toward STEM education. Also, the t-test results of 30 items in the survey were found to be significant. The Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient was calculated as 0.972. The results demonstrated that the Turkish version of the Perceived Self Efficacy toward STEM Knowledge survey consisting of 6 factors and 30 items was a valid and reliable measurement tool.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the level of the peritextual features of Feridun Oral's children's books, the readability of the texts, what the subject and main ideas are. The research was designed according to the holistic multi-case pattern of the qualitative methods. 13 storybooks from the works of Feridun Oral were used as data sources. Document analysis method was used to collect data in the study. Both descriptive analysis and thematic content analysis were used in the analysis of the data obtained in the study. As a result of the analysis, although it was seen that all of the books, which are data sources, got close and high scores in terms of peritextual features, it was revealed that the author reflected certain practices in all his books in terms of design features. When the average level of readability of all the books considered within the scope of the research was examined, it was seen that the books are generally easy. When the data sources were examined in terms of the codes they contain, it included instilling the values of "responsibility, determination, respect, inclusiveness, solidarity, social aid, love of animals, protection of nature and living things" to the reader.

This research aimed to reveal teachers' opinions about how the grammar-teaching process is related to the acquisitions in the curriculum, activities, and acquisitions presented in the textbooks teaching in mother tongue, the study reviewed different textbooks from four publishers, Cem, Sonuç, Koza, and Ministry of National Education (MEB) publications prepared for the 2018 primary school Turkish language course curriculum and Education Information Network (EBA) of the Turkish Ministry of Education. Moreover, opinions of ten primary school teachers who have taught all grades regarding the teaching process for grammar acquisition were investigated. The study conducted a case study method, which is one of the qualitative research techniques. Besides, a document analysis was conducted to obtain the research findings. Structured interview protocol and document review were used as the data collection tool. The findings of the study revealed that acquisition in the learning areas of reading and writing for grammar in the curriculum was not clearly and transparently identified, and the limits of the teaching framework were not specified. The study findings also revealed that information was transferred only in the majority of the grammar activities in the textbooks. Also, classroom teachers reported that they used different methods on the subjects they could embody in the teaching process, but they claimed to have difficulties in teaching abstract concepts.

The purpose of the research is to reveal the effect of digital materials on the listening comprehension levels of second grade elementary school students. The study sample consisted of 50 second grade students in a elementary school located in Eskisehir. During the 8-weeks intervention period, Turkish lessons were performed with digital materials in the experimental group. In the control group, Turkish lessons were conducted without using digital materials. In the research, parallel design is used. Quantitative datas were obtained by Listening Comprehension Test developed by the researcher. Qualitative datas were obtained by the diaries of students and researcher, the semi-structured interviews of students and teacher. In this study, it was concluded that digital materials positively affect students' understanding of what they listened to, and increased their attention and motivation. In this context, it was determined that using digital materials can have positive contributions for developing listening skills.

The aim of this study is to examine the instructors' self-assessment about teaching Turkish in distance education. Phenomenology method was used in the current study. The sample of the study is comprised of 26 faculty members from different regions in Turkey. The data collection tool of the research is a self-assessment form consisting of five questions. Content analysis and descriptive analysis were utilized in the data analysis. As a result of the study, it was found that the lecturers achieved the goals of the course and the lesson plans were sufficient in distance education. It has been determined that the lecturers prepare more activities and lesson materials in order to reach the goals of the course. Few of the lecturers gave homework to the students. On the other hand, it has been understood that most of the lecturers are ready for distance education. However, it is possible to talk about the existence of academic staff who need in-service training. In the research, the necessity of digitalization especially in the course materials has been revealed. In addition, it reflected the lecturers' self-evaluation processes regarding distance education in the research.

This research aims to determine the relationship between pre-service Turkish teachers' digital writing attitudes and their digital reading tendencies. In this context, 167 teacher candidates from different grades studying in the Turkish language teaching program of a state university in the west of Turkey were consulted. The relational surveying method, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. "Digital Writing Attitudes Scale" and "Digital Reading Tendencies Scale" were used as data collection tools in the study. The obtained data were analysed with the SPSS package program. Since it was determined that the data showed normal distribution due to the assumption analysis of the findings, independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA analyses were used in the research. In addition to these parametric tests, mean scores and standard deviation scores of the descriptive analysis results were used. As a result of the data analysis, it has been seen that pre-service Turkish teachers' digital writing attitudes and digital reading tendencies are at a high level. There has been no significant difference observed in the results in terms of participants gender for the convenience and motivation sub-dimensions of the scale. However, digital writing attitudes show a significant difference favouring female teacher candidate in the effect sub-dimension. According to the class variable, Turkish teacher candidates' digital writing attitudes show a significant difference in favour of small classes. The research findings concluded a moderate, positive, and significant relationship between pre-service Turkish teachers' digital writing attitudes and their digital reading tendencies. In order to provide digital transformation and dispositions, the positive and negative aspects of reading and writing in digital tools can be thoroughly researched, and improvements can be made by reviewing the existing tools.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of the 5E learning model designed in accordance with a techno pedagogical lesson plan on student success and attitude in a Turkish course. The research is quantitative and uses a quasi-experimental model with pre-test/post-test control groups. The universe of this study consisted of 8th grade students studying in the Onikisubat district of the province of Kahramanmaras in the 2019-2020 academic year. The sample of the study consisted of 110 students studying in four different classes from within this same population. The lessons in the experimental group were taught using a 5E learning model designed in accordance with a techno pedagogical lesson plan, while the lessons in the control group were based on the methods described by the Turkish lesson curriculum. In this study, the "Attitude Scale Towards Turkish Lessons" (ASTTL) and "Turkish Course Academic Achievement Test" (TCAAT) were used as data collection tools. In the analysis of the data obtained in the study, the independent sample t-test and the correlated sample t-test were used. As a result of the research, a statistically significant difference was found in favor of the experimental group between the average achievement scores of the students in the experimental group and those of the students in the control group. However, a statistically significant difference was not found between the average attitude scores of the experimental group versus the control group.

It is important to supply students with skills about text type and structure in educational environments. To have such skills gives the student many advantages in the process of comprehending, and evaluating any text. This study aims to bring out the opinions of Turkish language teachers and elementary school teachers about teaching text type and structure. In this study, a descriptive research design was employed and the participants consisted of 55 Turkish language teachers and elementary school teachers. Content analysis was utilized for data analysis. In this study, to check reliability and validity, the statements of participants were transfered directly, participant confirmation and the percent of agreement (approximately % 0, 81) between two researchers were used. It was found that Turkish language teachers and elementary school teachers generally adopted a different teaching approach, and used the text-based, production and conversion, information transfer, and audience-centred activities. The participants stated that there are different problems in Turkish textbooks concerning the teaching. It is suggested that studies should be carried out to solve the problems that teachers have stated in the teaching of text type and structure.

Post-predicate that clauses are one of the indicators of evaluative language which shows the attitude, position, and personal evaluation of the writers in academic discourse. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the distribution and frequently used controlling verbs of post-predicate that clauses controlled by verb (VTHAT) in academic writings of Turkish learners of English and to compare them with those of native English students and expert writers. For this purpose, a specialized research corpus with three main sub-corpora was compiled: MA and PhD theses written by L2 students and native English students and published research articles written by native experienced writers. The results of the study showed that both L2 and native English students significantly overused VTHAT structures compared to the native experienced writers; however, Turkish students used VTHAT structures more frequently than their native peers in academic discourse. The analysis of the controlling verbs in VTHAT constructions showed that eight out of the 10 top frequent verbs in the Turkish students' theses were common across either three or two sub-corpora. However, there were various significant differences in the frequencies of these controlling verbs between the subcorpora, which can imply that Turkish students use such constructions to have a low authoritative presence in terms of their authorial stance in academic writing. The findings were discussed with reference to the previous findings, and pedagogical implications were offered.

The aim of this study is to examine the readability levels of the texts on the biology units in the science textbook prepared for the sixth grade. This study, which is based on a qualitative approach, was carried out with the method of document analysis. The textbook examined in the study is Middle School and Imam Hatip Middle School Science Textbook 6, which has been used since the 2018-2019 academic year. Regarding biology topics, the textbook includes in two units (Unit-1: Our Body Systems, Unit 2: Our Body Systems and Health). In the study, the learning outcomes of the units were taken as a basis in the selection of the texts to be analyzed in the textbook. In the study, a total of 22 texts were randomly selected by taking into account the learning outcomes in the curriculum. In addition, it has been paid attention that each text contains at least 100 words. Atesman readability formula was used to determine the readability levels of the selected texts. According to the findings obtained as a result of the analysis, it was determined that the readability level of the texts for unit-2 was medium, while the readability level of the texts for unit-6 was found to be difficult. In the light of the findings, suggestions were made that the textbooks should be prepared in accordance with the student level in terms of readability and that texts consisting of simpler and shorter sentences should be used more.

The aim of this study is to examine the effects of extended micro-teaching practices on foreigners' views on motivation, anxiety and process of learning Turkish. In the study, an exploratory sequential design, one of the mixed research designs in which quantitative and qualitative research techniques are used together, was applied. The study population consisted of 37 A2 level students studying at a private university in Istanbul, Turkey. In the study, the Turkish Learning Anxiety Scale of Foreigners to measure the anxiety of learning Turkish as a foreign language, the Motivation Scale for Learning Turkish as a Foreign Language to measure their motivation during learning Turkish, and the semi-structured scale interview form to evaluate students' opinions about the process were used. While simple and predictive statistical techniques were applied in the analyses of the data obtained through scales before and after the experimental process, the descriptive analysis technique was used in the analysis of the data obtained with the interview form. According to the findings of the study, the extended micro-teaching practices increased the motivation of foreigners during learning Turkish and reduced their language learning anxiety to a normal level. Besides, interviews with the students confirmed these results.

The study aimed to determine the relationship between writing anxiety and writing self-efficacy of students learning Turkish as a foreign language. The study sample consisted of 247 international students at B1 and B2 levels at the Turkish Education Application and Research Center of a foundation university. "The Writing Anxiety Scale for Learners of Turkish as a Foreign Language," developed by Sen and Boylu (2017), was used to determine students' writing anxiety. There were 13 items and two factors on the scale: "Action-Oriented Anxiety" and "Environmental Oriented Anxiety." "The Writing Self-Efficacy Scale for Turkish Students who Learn Turkish" was developed by Büyükikiz (2012) to determine the students' writing self-efficacy. This two-factor scale had 16 items and explained 56.85% of the variance. The research was designed based on the relational screening model. SPSS 21.0 package programs were used to analyze the data. The study results indicated a significant positive relationship between writing anxiety and writing self-efficacy of students who learned Turkish as a foreign language. Besides, there was no significant difference between the Turkish learners' scores from the writing anxiety scale and their language level.

This study aims to identify the interactive metadiscourse markers in the main sections of the articles (introduction, method, findings, results, discussion and conclusion) in the fields of science and social sciences. Designed as a descriptive research, this study employs the survey model. The articles analyzed in this study are a total of 16 articles, 8 science and 8 social sciences articles selected from the science and social sciences journals at DergiPark. The study group of this paper includes 54,253 words, 16,301 of which are in the articles on science and 37,952 are in the articles on social sciences. To achieve, this study draws on Hyland and Tse's framework of metadiscourse model. The data are analyzed through descriptive analysis method. A Mann-Whitney U test is performed to find out whether there is a significant difference in the use of metadiscourse markers identified in the descriptive analysis of the articles on science and social sciences. The analysis indicate that more interactive metadiscourse markers are used in the articles on social sciences compared to the articles on science; yet, this difference is not significant. Furthermore, the use of code glosses is significant for social sciences; nonetheless, there is no significant difference in the use of other interactive metadiscourse markers.

With this study, it is aimed to adapt the Online Teaching Effectiveness Scale into Turkish Language. The adaptation process has been done within four study groups. The first group took part in the study after having the Turkish form of the scale as required according to the translation steps. The study has been done with the MCBU Faculty of Education during the 2021 Spring Term. With the first study group, language validity was ensured with 30 participants by applying the Turkish and English versions of the scale in an interval of two weeks. According to language validity findings the Spearman's Rank Order Correlation value has been found above 0.70. Then pilot study has been done with second group with 62 participants. The total correlation values of the items are between 0.55 and 0.80. The third group consisted of 436 participants and after second run the CFA results are found like that; X[superscript 2] / df = 3.582, RMSEA = 0.80, SRMR = 0.35; CFI = 0.95; TLI = 0.94, NNFI = 0.95. With the third study group the validation study has been finished and continued to reliability study. The fourth and the last group which consisted of 96 participants and the applications has been done in an interval of three weeks. According to the Cronbach's Alpha values each of the dimensions and the total of the scale have points between 0.70 and 0.97. The test-retest values are between 0.72 and 0.94. Based on the findings the Turkish version of the scale is valid and reliable for usage.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of text lengths on students' vocabulary and to reveal students' opinions about their vocabulary development considering text lengths. This study used exploratory sequential mixed method pattern, which combines quantitative and qualitative data gathering techniques and combines research results. The study group constitutes 7th grade students studying at a secondary school in Turkey. Within the scope of the research, "Vocabulary Success Test (VST)" was used as quantitative data gathering tool, and "Structured Feedback Form (SFF)" was used as qualitative data tool. In the quantitative analysis of the research data, considering the structure of the data, t-tests were used in dependent and independent groups using SPSS-PASW Statistics 18. Descriptive analysis technique was used in the qualitative analysis of the research data. According to the results of this research, a statistically significant difference was found between the success scores of the short texts pretests and post-tests of the experimental group; it is concluded that there is no significant difference in long texts. The students in the research group stated that the short and concise texts in the course books increased their motivation towards the course.

The aim of the present study was to identify the administrative problems that school principals face at schools in the city located in the east of Turkey with high Syrian student population and to provide suggestions for overcoming these problems. The city is a province in Turkey having the highest ratio of Syrian to Turkish population with 95.61%. Therefore, the city is an important topic for the education and social integration of Syrian students. Based on the findings, it has been identified that school principals experience problems such as language and communication problems, crowded classrooms and environments, registration uncertainties, accordance between the parents (Turkish-Syrian), school culture, discipline and behavior. In addition, problems were also identified under headings such as financial resource insufficiency, personnel requirements and in-service training requirements. It has been emphasized that making courses more active, increasing the number of course hours for the targeted culture language will be more beneficial for overcoming the language issues. It has also been indicated that equal distribution of Syrian students to the schools and balancing the student ratio in the province through the use of transportation options if necessary will also be beneficial.

It is important to improve the literacy skills of students who learn Turkish as a foreign language. Especially the development of writing skills has a vital role in gaining literacy skills. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop a scale that can measure the writing anxiety of students who learn Turkish as a foreign language. For this purpose, firstly the literature was reviewed. As a result of the review, a pool of 43 items was created. After examining the expert and student opinions, a trial scale with 41 items was generated and administered to the students. The participants consisted of the students studying at Inönü University in the spring semester of 2019 at B2 and C1 levels. SPSS 20 program was used to examine the validity and reliability of the scale, which was applied to 189 students on a voluntary basis. As a result of the tests, a scale consisting of 18 items and 3 factors (writing self-efficacy, cognitive and environmental factors) was created with the removal of items that reduce internal consistency and have co-loading. The overall reliability (alpha = 0.904) of the scale created as a result of the test was found to be very high. According to the alpha and explained variance values related to its reliability, it was concluded that the scale is a valid and reliable test to measure the writing anxiety of students who learn Turkish as a foreign language.

With some innovations brought by the age of technology and science, storytelling has also gained different dimensions. Digital storytelling has emerged with the addition of elements such as sound, video, image, effect and music to traditional storytelling and sharing these stories on digital media. In this study, it was aimed to determine the views of Turkish teachers about using digital storytelling in Turkish lessons. Case study, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. The participants of the study consisted of 20 Turkish teachers who were determined through easily accessible situation sampling, one of purposeful sampling methods. The "Semi-Structured Interview Form" developed by the researchers was used to determine the teachers' views on using digital storytelling in their lessons. Teachers' views were analyzed through content analysis. As a result of the research, it was seen that most of the teachers did not have detailed knowledge about digital storytelling. It was determined that the digital literacy skills of teachers were not at the desired level. Teachers stated that they consider digital storytelling as a suitable teaching tool to be used in Turkish lessons, digital storytelling is an effective learning tool and that can support the development of the four basic language skills, especially listening and writing skills.

This study was carried out with a total of 75 students attending 9th grade in two high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Reyhanli district, which hosted many Syrian refugees in Hatay province in the spring semester of 2018-2019 academic years and lasted for three weeks. A total of 75 students, 43 from two different 9th grade classes taught by the same teacher from the first high school, and 32 from the other high school, participated in the study. Two of these classes were assigned as the control group and one as the experimental group. While the symbolic language of chemistry was taught with the traditional teaching method in the control groups, an educational game with Arabic support was used in the experimental group based on the constructive learning approach. Prior knowledge, attitude-perception towards chemistry, and chemistry achievement tests were applied to all three groups before the implementation in order to control their prior knowledge and attitude and perception towards chemistry; the chemistry success test was applied again after the implementation. ANCOVA analysis was used to evaluate the data obtained from the tests. As a result of the study, it was concluded that High school 9th-grade students studying with the educational game based on constructivist learning approach had significantly higher mean score in the chemistry achievement test on the symbolic language of chemistry than the students studying with traditional teaching method, they relate the concepts more accurately, and performed more meaningful learning.

The purpose of present research is to examine the speaking anxiety observed by the instructors in their students in teaching Turkish as a foreign language settings. For this aim, phenomenology, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The participants of the research are the instructors working in the Turkish teaching centers of various state universities who were reached through the snowball sampling technique. A semi-structured interview was used to collect the data from these tutorials. To analyze the data a content analysis technique with MAXQDA 2020 program was utilized. Instructors of Turkish as a foreign language stated that material and instructor proficiency are the most common factors in foreign language teaching, while motivation, attitude and anxiety are the most common internal factors. According to the results of the study, speaking is the language skill most affected by anxiety. It was concluded that the most common causes of speaking anxiety experienced by the students were the fear of being ridiculed, the thought of failure, and the lack of personal development. Instructors think that speaking anxiety occurs mostly with a shy attitude while speaking. In addition, the instructors stated that they took various measures to solve this situation in their students who they thought had speaking anxiety. These are mostly creating a flexible and relaxing learning environment, applying interesting activities, and allocating special time for the student.

The aim of this study was to examine Turkish Language teachers' self-efficacy perceptions of teaching thinking skills in terms of the variables of age, professional experience, educational status, and taking course on thinking skills. The screening model was used in the study. The current pandemic process was taken into account and the convenience sampling method was used while determining the study group. Turkish Language teachers forming the study group consisted of 109 females and 68 males. "Teachers' Self-efficacy towards teaching thinking scale" was used as the data collection tool. The data of the study were analyzed using the statistical package program. In conclusion, no significant difference was found between the Turkish Language teachers' self-efficacy perceptions of teaching thinking skills and gender. It was concluded that Turkish Language teachers' self-efficacy perceptions of teaching thinking skills differed according to professional experience. It was concluded that there was no significant difference between Turkish Language teachers' self-efficacy perceptions of teaching thinking skills and their educational status. It was concluded that there was a significant difference between Turkish Language teachers' self-efficacy perceptions of teaching thinking skills and taking course on thinking skills.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of classroom debate activities on the argumentativeness of Turkish language teacher candidates. The study group of the research consists of 29 freshman students in the Turkish Language Teaching program. Designed in mixed method, in this study Argumentativeness Scale and Semi-Structured Interview Form were used as data collection tools. The application process of the study took a total five weeks. For the analysis of the quantitative data which was obtained through the Argumentativeness Scale, the pre and post-test scores were compared using the t-test. However, at the end of the application, the opinions of the students were taken through the semi-structured interview form and these data were analyzed using the content analysis technique. As a result of the research, it was determined that there is a significant difference between the argumentativeness pre-test scores and post-test scores of the study group. The findings obtained from the interviews also confirmed that there is a difference in the argumentativeness of the teacher candidates. As a result, it was seen that classroom debate activities carried out in accordance with the rules can motivate prospective teachers to do discussions and reduce their anxiety and fear of discussions. In addition to this, according to the findings, debate activities encourage students to do research, create a competitive environment in the classroom and ensure active participation in the lessons. In line with the research results, suggestions for classroom discussion practices and suggestions for future research have been presented.

This study, a descriptive and methodological type of research, was conducted to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish adaptation of the Attitudes to Fertility and Childbearing Scale (AFCS), developed by Söderberg et al. (2015). The sample of this study consisted of 224 women who had not given birth yet and who were between the ages of 20-30. The scale is a Likert-type measuring instrument consisting of 21 items, in three dimensions. Internal consistency analyses were conducted to determine its reliability. After confirming the linguistic validity, expert opinions were obtained for the content validity. Furthermore, the Item Content Validity Index (I-CVI) and the Scale Content Validity Index (S-CVI) were used to assess its content validity. The construct validity was performed using confirmatory factor analysis. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis carried out for the construct validity, a three-factor structure of the scale was found to have a good level of model fitness indices (RMSEA=0.067, SRMR=0.075, CFI=0.96). As a result of the scale reliability analysis, the internal consistency coefficient was found to be 0.82 for the total scale and internal consistency reliability coefficients of the sub-scales were found to be 0.93 for the "importance of fertility for the future" sub-scale, 0.87 for the "childbearing as a hindrance at present" sub-scale, and 0.81 for the "social identity" sub-scale. AFCS is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to measure the fertility and childbearing attitudes of women in a fertile age.

Counseling scholars have increasingly utilized the relational-cultural theory (RCT) to promote growth fostering connections as a healthy way of managing various life problems. The Relational Health Indices (RHI) was developed to understand relational interactions among women. In an attempt to broaden the utility of the RHI, the purpose of this study was to develop and validate a Turkish language version of the RHI for research and clinical use. In translating the RHI from English to Turkish, we followed a seven-step process. Data were collected from 213 Turkish-speaking college students enrolled in two Turkish public universities with the mean age of 22.29 (SD= 3.41). The findings revealed that the RHI-T proved to be a two-factor structure (the Peer and Mentor subscales) among Turkish students and that the Community subscale was not an acceptable fit even after removing several items. Potential explanations, implications, and recommendations for clinical use and future research are provided.

In the research, it is aimed to analyze the roles of teachers teaching in distance education in the Covid-19 pandemic period and to investigate the obstacles encountered in the realization of these roles. The study was conducted phenomenological research. The criterion sampling technique is used to select participants. Participants were chosen from the teachers of Mathematics, Foreign Language, Science, Turkish and Social Studies who teach at least 15 hours or more per week in distance education. The data collection process in which data triangulation was performed included diaries kept by teachers for five days, individual interviews and focus group interviews. Transcripted data were analyzed by content analysis technique. The roles of the teachers who participated in the study were "communicator", "collaborator", "facilitator" and "learner" teacher during the distance education in COVID-19 pandemic. There are obstacles in the realization of roles in issues such as injustice / inequality in education, subject-centered program, structure of the education program, professional development, student and parent unwillingness. The features that teachers should have in the process of distance education as technopedagogical content knowledge, planning instructional activities, being able to measure distance assessment and provide student motivation.

Personality priorities are important concepts in Adlerian theory, contributing to understanding and conceptualizing clients' lifestyles. Even though Adlerian psychology promises multicultural applications and has been interested in Turkey, no instrument measuring personality priorities has been developed or adapted into Turkish. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to adapt the Adlerian Personality Priority Assessment (APPA) into Turkish and examine its psychometric properties with a sample of Turkish undergraduate students. This study was conducted in three steps. In the first step, a linguistic equivalence test was performed with a sample of 73 students enrolled at the Department of English Language Education. In the second step, the structure of the APPA was examined using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses with a sample of 1,279 undergraduate students. In the final step, test-retest reliability was tested with a sample of 93 undergraduate students within 4-week interval. The results of the linguistic equivalency study revealed that translations were linguistically and culturally proper. According to the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, the Turkish form of the APPA consisted of 24 items loaded with four factors consistent with the original form. The results also revealed good levels of internal and test-retest reliabilities. The findings of this study showed that the Turkish form of the APPA is a valid and reliable instrument, and it can be used in research and practice with Turkish populations. The results and limitations were discussed, along with implications for future research and practice.

This study aims to reveal the self-efficacy perception levels of pre-service Turkish language teachers towards critical reading and to determine whether these levels vary by various variables. This study draws on a general survey model, which is one of the descriptive research methods. The study group of this research consists of a total of 210 freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior level pre-service Turkish language teachers studying at the Department of Turkish Language Education in the faculty of education at a state university. To collect data, "The Critical Reading Self-Efficacy Perception Scale" developed by Karabay (2013) is used. The findings of this study indicate that the self-efficacy perception levels of the pre-service Turkish language teachers towards critical reading are moderate. Furthermore, the pre-service Turkish language teachers' self-efficacy perception levels towards critical reading do not significantly vary between the groups in the total score and in the sub-dimensions by variables of gender and academic achievement. Yet, there is a significant difference between the groups in the total score and in the sub-dimensions by variables of grade level and reading frequency. Based on these findings, this study also offers some insights and suggestions for researchers and teaching staff.

The present study empirically scrutinizes the fixed natural order of grammatical morphemes relying on a manual analysis of an EFL learner corpus. Specifically, we test whether the accuracy order of L2 grammatical morphemes in the case of L1 Turkish speakers of English deviates from Krashen's (1977) natural order and whether proficiency levels play a role in the order of acquisition of these morphemes. With this in mind, we focus on the (in)accuracy of nine English grammatical morphemes with 2883 cases manually tagged by the UAM Corpus Tool in the written exam scripts of Turkish learners of English. The results based on target-like use scores provide evidence for deviation from what is widely believed to be a set order of acquisition of these grammatical morphemes by second language learners. In light of such findings, we challenge the view that the internally driven processes of mastering grammatical morphemes in English for interlanguage users are largely independent of their L1. Regardless of L2 grammar proficiency in our data, the observed accuracy of some morphemes ranked low in comparison with the so-called natural order. These grammatical morphemes were almost exclusively non-existent features in participants' mother tongue (e.g., third person singular "-s," articles and the irregular past tense forms), thus suggesting the influence of L1 in this respect.

The aim of this study is to point out the relationship between learning styles and the academic. The purpose of this study is to show the relationship between learning styles and academic achievement of 4th grade elementary students. The study was designed according to the convergent parallel design, one of the mixed research designs in which quantitative and qualitative research methods are used together. While the quantitative and qualitative data are collected together in accordance with the convergent parallel design, the data analysis is presented separately in the results section. The study group of the research consists of 163 grade 4 primary school students, 74 girls (n=74) and 89 (n=89) boys, taught in a government primary school in Istanbul Turkey. To find out whether learning styles predict academic achievement, linear regression analysis was conducted. On the other hand, descriptive analysis and content analysis were used in the qualitative data analysis. In this study, it was found that learning styles predict academic achievement. It was also found that students tend to discover their own learning methods, and depending on which method they prefer, the academic area in which they succeed differs.

In recent years, the rapidly increasing number of Syrian students started to be trained in public schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) raises various problems. Syrian students who are included in the same class as Turkish students without a specific preparation process both have difficulties themselves and causes various discipline problems to all stakeholders such as teachers, parents, administrators and especially Turkish students. In this study, the difficulties experienced by teachers who teach Syrian students at the primary education level are examined in terms of their curriculum. As the curriculum is the most important guide that draws the boundaries of the instruction process and determines how the process should be, and teachers act as an important bridge in the realization of the curriculum in the classroom environment; the difficulties teachers experienced in the implementation of the curriculum will provide important information about the reality of education and give ideas about the arrangements that should be made in the curriculum, if any, or the need for a new curriculum.

Research has shown that a profound place value understanding is crucial for success in learning mathematics. At the same time, a substantial number of students struggles with developing a sustainable place value understanding. In this regard, two aspects of the place value system appear especially relevant: First, the knowledge of the decimal structure of numbers, and second, the relation between the bundling units. To support teaching place value understanding, a developmental model of place value understanding focusing on both aspects has been constructed and validated in Germany. The model comprises five levels of place value understanding that build upon each other hierarchically. This study aims at validating the level hierarchy in Turkey to prepare the usage of the developmental model as learning trajectory for Turkish primary schools. N=437 Turkish students from Grades 2 through 4 completed a translated version of the item collection of the German validation study as well as a Turkish place value test that is not based on a developmental model. In a Rasch analysis, most items of the translated item collection showed item difficulties as predicted by the model. In a regression analysis, item difficulties were well predicted by their allocation within the level hierarchy, while other item characteristics did not inform about the item difficulties. Substantial correlations between the translated item collection and the Turkish test underpin the claim that the model is appropriate to assess Turkish students' place value understanding as well as structuring place value instruction in Turkish primary schools.

Distance education is an education model in which the lessons can be taught simultaneously using technical material without time and space restrictions. It has gained importance after the COVID-19 pandemic processes and has been implemented as a valid educational model in all educational institutions. Due to the sudden pandemic measures, distance education has brought about a lot of technical problems at unprepared educational institutions against the pandemic. In this paper, a classification approach is proposed by machine learning methods on Twitter instead of the usual structured research methods such as survey, one-on-one meeting for technical problems of distance education. The most encountered and commented distance education problem, which can be defined in different languages by the proposed method, have been analysed with Turkey example. Sentiment analysis has been made from negative and neutral tweets about distance education. The problems have been classified by natural language processing methods based on Turkish word analysis.

This study aims to clarify whether the implementation of language alternation in the teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL) has strengths or limitations from both teachers and students' points of view. By making use of both qualitative data which was conducted through structured interviews with 23 teachers in one of the provinces of Turkey as well as applying structured forms to 92 teachers from 34 cities in Turkey and quantitative data containing a five-point Likert scale questionnaire collected from 226 students, the current research reports students' stances towards teacher code-switching in EFL classrooms in Turkish secondary and high school context, and teachers' language choice causes with inferable results. The data from the questionnaire were collated, and the SPSS program was used to calculate the descriptive calculations involving percentages and frequencies. The results of the study reveal that students and teachers tend to agree on the majority of questions. While students welcomed the teachers' code-switching efforts in English lessons, the teachers advocated the balanced conduct of language switching, especially in terms of communication skills.

The present study aims to submit a general perspective to the conjunctions which Arab students whose language levels were B1 and B2 have structured in their written texts. To this end, this research was designed as a document analysis. In the study, the documents were obtained from free writings by 90 Arab students who were studying at Bolu Branch of TÖMER, Turkey. In order to analyse the conjunctions used by the study group in their written texts, frequency and percentage analyses were employed in quantitative findings obtained through this analysis. Additionally, Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare students' use of conjunctions according to their language levels. The results of the study have indicated that the most commonly used conjunctions by Arab students whose language levels were B1 and B2 were additive, causal, adversative and time; on the contrary, the least commonly used conjunctions were coordinating, expository, exemplificatory and conditional. The general perspectives on the use of conjunctions across Arab students whose language levels were B2 were found to be higher in their written texts compared to those whose language levels were B1. Consequently, it was revealed that Arab students whose language levels were B2 used 'adversative, conditional and exemplificatory conjunctions' to a greater extent; contrary to this, it was found that they were not able to progress in the remaining five conjunctions. According to the findings of the study, teaching of the conjunctions used less commonly by Arab students should be focused more to enable them to comprehend what they read and to convey their ideas in written expression more proficiently.

The aim of the current study is to determine the distribution of verb valency-driven errors of secondary school students. To this end, this study is framed as a survey research. The sample of the study consists of 200 secondary school students in three schools with different socioeconomic levels. The content and teaching of morphological verb valency and the problems encountered were elaborated in the light of Turkish teachers' views. The data of the study were compiled through document analysis. Frequency analysis was employed to determine the occurrence of morphological verb valency-driven errors. Besides, content analysis was used to analyse teachers' views. The research findings revealed that secondary school students made verb valency-driven errors at 393 times while using 145 different verbs. The mean value of verb valency-driven errors per student was 1.96. Furthermore, the verbs with the most common verb valency-driven errors were respectively as follows: çik- (to leave), al- (to take), bul- (to find), söyle- (to tell), yasa- (to live), git- (to go), gör- (to see), ver- (to give), çöz- (to solve) and gel- (to come). Teachers, however, stated that students had difficulty in analysing and writing morphemes in morphological verb valency, and they, in particular, made verb valency-driven errors in long sentences in writing and speaking skills. Moreover, activities towards knowledge and comprehension in terms of words and sentences are inadequate in respect to such cognitive processes such as synthesis and evaluation of texts. Therefore, it is recommended that teaching of morphological valency should be integrated with language skills in order to minimize morphological verb valency-driven errors that have an impact upon literacy skills of students in their mother tongue.

This study aims to reveal the Turkish language teacher candidates' opinions about the media as a learning-teaching tool in the context of media literacy. It has been conducted utilising the basic qualitative research pattern, one of the qualitative research types, with twenty participating teacher candidates studying in the last year of their university education. In the study, a semi-structured interview form is employed as the data collection tool. The collected data are analysed based on the content analysis method, one of the qualitative analysis methods. The results obtained in the study have shown that social media has a central place in Turkish teacher candidates' media perception; when they were asked about the media tools for teaching, they answered the internet and YouTube primarily. The participants stressed that the media as a teaching tool offers teachers alternative ways and facilitates the educational process. For these reasons, they consider the media a usable teaching tool. The media tools they use the most in their own learning processes are the internet, YouTube and Instagram. The teacher candidates plan to use media tools while performing their jobs. Moreover, the teacher candidates, who consider utilising media tools in the learning-teaching process necessary, plan to advise their students to learn through media.

It is observed that individuals have problems in written expression in the Turkish education system, and a permanent solution can not be developed to solve these problems. Therefore, the primary objective of this research is to determine the problems of prospective Turkish teachers in paragraph creation. This research was carried out in the descriptive survey model. The study group consists of 88 students studying in the 3rd grade at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University in the 2018-2019 academic year. In the data collection process, the "paragraph creation problem inventory" developed by the researchers was used in the study. According to research results, it was found that the students suffered the most in "inability to create an introductory paragraph" (n=86), "inability to maintain the thought unity in the paragraph" (n=84), and "inability to develop thought in the paragraph" (n=83). In this study, solutions to the problems experienced by the students were also presented. The study findings are expected to contribute to teaching paragraph development.

The aim of the present study was to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool for identifying the attitudes towards Turkish of Syrian university students learning Turkish as a foreign language. The study group was comprised of a total of 489 individuals with 285 for exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and 204 for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Student opinions, relevant literature and expert opinions were utilized when developing the scale items thus putting forth a 53 item form. Eight items were excluded following the pilot application on first form for linguistic clarity thus conducting EFA with 45 items. A total of 20 items were excluded as a result of the EFA thus obtaining a 25 item, three factor form that explains 49.42 % of the variance. CFA was conducted with a new study group for examining the model fit of the obtained three factor structure and the results of CFA (X[superscript 2] /sd= 2,46; RMSEA= 0.085; CFI= 0.92; NNFI= 0.91; SRMR= 0.085; GFI: 0.79) set forth that the model fit of the scale is at a sufficient level. The dimension including items on the purpose and function for the use of Turkish by Syrian students was named as "Purpose/function"; items related with the daily use of Turkish were named as "Daily life" whereas the dimension including items including a negative approach towards Turkish was entitled as "Dysfunctional approach". Reliability analyses were carried out for the scale as a result of which the Cronbach's Alfa and Spearman-Brown coefficients were obtained as (0.90) and (0.86) for the "purpose/function", (0.83) and (0.82) for the "daily life", (0.76) and (0.74) for the "dysfunctional approach". The findings of the present study indicate that SSATT is a valid and reliable tool in measuring the attitudes of Syrian university students towards Turkish.
