Tipuloidea (crane flies) is one of the most species-rich groups of Diptera, including over 15,000 species worldwide, with a wide variety of habitats. However, relatively less attention has been paid to the larvae of crane fly in contrast to the better-known adults. In this study, Tipula (Pterelachisus) cinereocincta mesacantha Alexander, 1934 is added into the fauna of China, which larvae were found beneath a piece of moss in a forest of eastern Liaoning. The external structures of the larva are described thoroughly with light microscopic illustrations. Meanwhile, with scanning electron microscopy, more detailed structures of the larval head capsule, the antenna and the mouthparts, are firstly present for the larvae of Tipula (Pterelachisus). Some microscopic structures, including the paired peg-like sensilla on the central teeth of epipharynx, and a pair of cushiony lobes anterior to the teeth, are newly recorded for the crane fly larva. Morphological differences and variations of the larval structures between T. (P.) cinereocincta mesacantha and its related species or genera are discussed. The discovery would provide new data and insights for the further research on the taxonomy and phylogeny, as well as some evidences of the biology and adaption of crane fly larvae.

We conducted a detailed study on the properties of the total decay width of the Higgs decay channel up to -order QCD corrections by using the newly suggested infinite-order scale-setting approach, which is based on both the principle of maximum conformality and intrinsic conformality. This approach is called PMC . By using the PMC approach, we observed that the conventional renormalization scale ambiguity in perturbative QCD calculation is eliminated, and the residual scale dependence due to unknown higher-order terms can also be highly suppressed. We then obtained an accurate perturbative QCD prediction on the total decay width, e.g., keV, where the errors are squared averages of those from all the mentioned error sources.

Purpose This paper aims to study the Gramian solutions and solitonic interactions of a (2 + 1)-dimensional Broer–Kaup–Kupershmidt (BKK) system, which models the nonlinear and dispersive long gravity waves traveling along two horizontal directions in the shallow water of uniform depth. Design/methodology/approach Pfaffian technique is used to construct the Gramian solutions of the (2 + 1)-dimensional BKK system. Asymptotic analysis is applied on the two-soliton solutions to study the interaction properties. Findings N-soliton solutions in the Gramian with a real function ζ(y) of the (2 + 1)-dimensional BKK system are constructed and proved, where N is a positive integer and y is the scaled space variable. Conditions of elastic and inelastic interactions between the two solitons are revealed asymptotically. For the three and four solitons, elastic, inelastic interactions and soliton resonances are discussed graphically. Effect of the wave numbers, initial phases and ζ(y) on the solitonic interactions is also studied. Originality/value Shallow water waves are studied for the applications in environmental engineering and hydraulic engineering. This paper studies the shallow water waves through the Gramian solutions of a (2 + 1)-dimensional BKK system and provides some phenomena that have not been studied.

The heating pipe network system with such dynamic characteristics as nonlinearity and large time lag may cause hydraulic disorder. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a unit control-based hydraulic equilibrium control strategy, which constructs an equilibrium regulation system for heating pipe networks by optimising the inlet device of each unit and using a novel control theory. By developing a cascade control system to control the return water temperature and the pressure difference between supply and return water of the branches at each unit of the pipe network, we were able to stabilise the pressure and control the temperature. Then, we used the averaging control theory to set the parameters of regulation systems between each unit. The research results indicate that, compared to the traditional single-loop negative-feedback return water temperature control system, the cascade averaging controller has a better control effect than the single-loop PID controller. This is because it has a smaller overshoot and can cope with system interference factors quickly. Therefore, the temperature of return water between each unit can be coordinated and fluctuation is within a smaller range. This effectively eliminates the influence of static and dynamic hydraulic disorder on entire system stability.

Rare‐earth sulfides are of research interest for lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) due to their abundant lithium intercalation sites and low redox voltage. However, their electrochemical performances are not satisfactory because of poor conductivity and volume change upon electrochemical cycling. Herein, nanoarchitectures of γ‐Ce2S3 encapsulated in a hollow mesoporous carbon nanosphere (Ce2S3@HMCS) are fabricated using the self‐template strategy combined with the in‐sphere sulfuration method and tested as an LIB anode. The void space between the Ce2S3 core and the outer layer of the carbon nanosphere has been properly designed and modulated to achieve excellent electrochemical performance in terms of electronic conductivity, reversibility, and rate capability. The reversible capacity of Ce2S3@HMCS is 2.6 times that of the pure Ce2S3 anode, which can gradually increase and maintain a capacity of 282 mAh·g−1 at a current density of 1 A·g–1, and a high Coulombic efficiency (~100%) can be achieved even after 1000 cycles. This good performance is attributed to the unique yolk–shell nanostructure with a highly crystallized and stable Ce3S2 core and volume expansion buffer space upon lithiation/delithiation. Ex situ X‐ray diffraction and nuclear magnetic resonance results indicate that the lithiation of Ce2S3@HMCS is an intercalation process. This study represents an important advancement in precise structural design with in‐sphere sulfuration and sheds light on a potential direction for high‐performance lithium storage.

A new type of internally illuminated honeycomb photoreactor was designed. The honeycomb catalyst prepared by using Ce-doped TiO2 with 1%–2% vanadium and tungsten was employed for mercury removal from simulated industrial flue gas. The adsorption kinetics in the reaction process were studied. The results showed that the internally illuminated honeycomb photoreactor had good mercury removal performance. When the temperature was 25°C and the ultraviolet (UV) light intensity reached 80 µW/cm2, the mercury removal efficiency reached 92.5%. The mercury removal efficiency increased significantly with the doping ratio of Ce. XPS analysis showed that the oxidation state of Ce changed from 4 to 3 in the mercury removal reaction and produced lattice oxygen, which acts as an oxidant. O2 can promote mercury removal by honeycomb catalysts; SO2 and HCl also had positive effects, while NO had an inhibitory effect on mercury removal. Kinetic research in the reaction process showed that the quasi-first-order dynamic model had good fitting results, and the correlation coefficients of the fitting results for multiple sets of experimental data were more than 0.999.

Background Heat shock proteins (HSPs) perform a fundamental role in protecting plants against abiotic stresses. Individual family members have been analyzed in previous studies, but there has not yet been a comprehensive analysis of the HSP70 gene family in Pyropia yezoensis. Results We investigated 15 putative HSP70 genes in Py. yezoensis. These genes were classified into two sub-families, denoted as DnaK and Hsp110. In each sub-family, there was relative conservation of the gene structure and motif. Synteny-based analysis indicated that seven and three PyyHSP70 genes were orthologous to HSP70 genes in Pyropia haitanensis and Porphyra umbilicalis, respectively. Most PyyHSP70s showed up-regulated expression under different degrees of dehydration stress. PyyHSP70-1 and PyyHSP70-3 were expressed in higher degrees compared with other PyyHSP70s in dehydration treatments, and then expression degrees somewhat decreased in rehydration treatment. Subcellular localization showed PyyHSP70-1-GFP and PyyHSP70-3-GFP were in the cytoplasm and nucleus/cytoplasm, respectively. Similar expression patterns of paired orthologs in Py. yezoensis and Py. haitanensis suggest important roles for HSP70s in intertidal environmental adaptation during evolution. Conclusions These findings provide insight into the evolution and modification of the PyyHSP70 gene family and will help to determine the functions of the HSP70 genes in Py. yezoensis growth and development.

Ecosystem CO2–H2O data measured by infrared gas analyzers in open-path eddy-covariance (OPEC) systems have numerous applications, such as estimations of CO2 and H2O fluxes in the atmospheric boundary layer. To assess the applicability of the data for these estimations, data uncertainties from analyzer measurements are needed. The uncertainties are sourced from the analyzers in zero drift, gain drift, cross-sensitivity, and precision variability. These four uncertainty sources are individually specified for analyzer performance, but so far no methodology exists yet to combine these individual sources into a composite uncertainty for the specification of an overall accuracy, which is ultimately needed. Using the methodology for closed-path eddy-covariance systems, this overall accuracy for OPEC systems is determined from all individual uncertainties via an accuracy model and further formulated into CO2 and H2O accuracy equations. Based on atmospheric physics and the biological environment, for EC150 infrared CO2–H2O analyzers, these equations are used to evaluate CO2 accuracy (±1.22 mgCO2 m−3, relatively ±0.19 %) and H2O accuracy (±0.10 gH2O m−3, relatively ±0.18 % in saturated air at 35 ∘C and 101.325 kPa). Both accuracies are applied to conceptual models addressing their roles in uncertainty analyses for CO2 and H2O fluxes. For the high-frequency air temperature derived from H2O density along with sonic temperature and atmospheric pressure, the role of H2O accuracy in its uncertainty is similarly addressed. Among the four uncertainty sources, cross-sensitivity and precision variability are minor, although unavoidable, uncertainties, whereas zero drift and gain drift are major uncertainties but are minimizable via corresponding zero and span procedures during field maintenance. The accuracy equations provide rationales to assess and guide the procedures. For the atmospheric background CO2 concentration, CO2 zero and CO2 span procedures can narrow the CO2 accuracy range by 40 %, from ±1.22 to ±0.72 mgCO2 m−3. In hot and humid weather, H2O gain drift potentially adds more to the H2O measurement uncertainty, which requires more attention. If H2O zero and H2O span procedures can be performed practically from 5 to 35 ∘C, the H2O accuracy can be improved by at least 30 %: from ±0.10 to ±0.07 gH2O m−3. Under freezing conditions, the H2O span procedure is impractical but can be neglected because of its trivial contributions to the overall uncertainty. However, the zero procedure for H2O, along with CO2, is imperative as an operational and efficient option under these conditions to minimize H2O measurement uncertainty.

The positive significance of nature to human’ self-reported well-being has been widely confirmed, but less attention has been paid to the study of cancer patients, as well as the role of time on the restorative effects. Therefore, using virtual reality (VR) and the inclusion of patients with esophageal and gastrointestinal cancer as participants, this study conducted indoor experiments to explore patients’ psychophysiological recovery through the perception of five different environmental types with three to five interventions per week. There were 63 participants selected from the People’s Hospital in Shaanxi Province. Depending on their psychophysiological state, they would participate in three to five interventions in a week to compare the number of interventions needed to achieve maximum restoration. The five environmental types utilized varied in land cover, vegetation structure, and landscape characteristics, and were identified as blue space (BS), open green space (OGS), semi-open green space (SOS), closed green space (CGS), and gray space (GrS). Before and after viewing landscapes, the changes of psychophysiological indicators were measured to explore the influence of different environmental types on participants. The results showed that the participants preferred and received the highest perceived restorative potentials in BS and lastly, GrS. The green and blue spaces measurably increased positive emotions and perceived restoration while a decreasing negative emotions and the heart rate (HR) compared with the GrS. Participants had the highest level of relaxation while their eyes were closed in the EEG baseline stage. Moreover, participants received the most relaxation when they contacted with nature three times a week, which indicated that excessive natural participation may not be conducive to the sustained development of cancer patients’ psychophysiological health. Instead of field appreciation, VR could be utilized to increase the access of cancer patients to nature and then be used as an approach to landscape interaction.

As the main power source of new energy electric vehicles, the accurate estimation of State of Charge (SOC) of Li-ion batteries is of great significance for accurately estimating the vehicle’s driving range, prolonging the battery life, and ensuring the maximum efficiency of the whole battery pack. In this paper, the ternary Li-ion battery is taken as the research object, and the Dual Polarization (DP) equivalent circuit model with temperature-varying parameters is established. The parameters of the Li-ion battery model at ambient temperature are identified by the forgetting factor least square method. Based on the state space equation of power battery SOC, an adaptive Sliding Mode Observer is used to study the estimation of the State of Charge of the power battery. The SOC estimation results are fully verified at low temperature (0 °C), normal temperature (25 °C), and high temperature (50 °C). The simulation results of the Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule (UDDS) show that the SOC error estimated at low temperature and high temperature is within 2%, and the SOC error estimated at normal temperature is less than 1%, The algorithm has the advantages of accurate estimation, fast convergence, and strong robustness.

Heat stress occurring during rice (Oryza sativa) grain development reduces grain quality, which often manifests as increased grain chalkiness. Although the impact of heat stress on grain yield is well-studied, the genetic basis of rice grain quality under heat stress is less explored as quantifying grain quality is less tractable than grain yield. To address this, we used an image-based colorimetric assay (Red, R; and Green, G) for genome-wide association analysis to identify genetic loci underlying the phenotypic variation in rice grains exposed to heat stress. We found the R to G pixel ratio (RG) derived from mature grain images to be effective in distinguishing chalky grains from translucent grains derived from control (28/24°C) and heat stressed (36/32°C) plants. Our analysis yielded a novel gene, rice Chalky Grain 5 (OsCG5) that regulates natural variation for grain chalkiness under heat stress. OsCG5 encodes a grain-specific, expressed protein of unknown function. Accessions with lower transcript abundance of OsCG5 exhibit higher chalkiness, which correlates with higher RG values under stress. These findings are supported by increased chalkiness of OsCG5 knock-out (KO) mutants relative to wildtype (WT) under heat stress. Grains from plants overexpressing OsCG5 are less chalky than KOs but comparable to WT under heat stress. Compared to WT and OE, KO mutants exhibit greater heat sensitivity for grain size and weight relative to controls. Collectively, these results show that the natural variation at OsCG5 may contribute towards rice grain quality under heat stress.

With new energy vehicles becoming the mainstream of new vehicles sold, the surge in user ownership has triggered a wave of power battery scrapping, and the environmental problems caused by improper power battery recycling are becoming more serious. It is essential to promote the development of the closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) of power batteries effectively through government subsidies under the extended producer responsibility (EPR) regime. Combining the EPR system with the battery manufacturer as the leader and the vehicle manufacturer and the retailer as the subordinates, this paper constructs and solves four models of different CLSC subsidy objects and analyzes the pricing of power batteries by different subsidy objects by using the Stackelberg game, as well as the profit change and profit distribution ratio of each CLSC participant. The results of the study showed: (1) when the unit subsidy is limited, the government should subsidize all the CLSC subjects as much as possible. (2) When the government subsidizes the remanufacturing of power batteries, the recycling rate of power batteries is higher, and the benefits of the CLSC are better than those of subsidizing other actors. (3) The change in government subsidy objects will not affect the profit distribution ratio of CLSC, mainly because the subsidy not only improves the recovery rate, but also improves the profitability of each entity.

Previous studies have found differences in the cognitive and neural mechanisms between cognitive reappraisal and expression suppression in the regulation of various negative emotions and the recognition of regulated stimuli. However, whether these differences are valid for sadness remains unclear. As such, we investigated the effect of cognitive reappraisal and expression suppression on sadness regulation and the recognition of sad scenes adopting event-related potentials (ERPs). Twenty-eight healthy undergraduate and graduate students took part in this study. In the regulation phase, the participants were asked to down-regulation, expressive suppression, or maintain their sad emotion evoked by the sad images, and then to perform an immediately unexpected recognition task involving the regulated images. The behavioral results show that down-regulation reappraisal significantly diminished subjective feelings of sadness, but expressive suppression did not; both strategies impaired the participants’ recognition of sad images, and expressive suppression had a greater damaging effect on the recognition of sad images than down-regulation reappraisal. The ERP results indicate that reappraisal (from 300 ms to 1,500 ms after image onset) and expressive suppression (during 300–600 ms) significantly reduced the late positive potential (LPP) induced by sadness. These findings suggest that down-regulation reappraisal and expression suppression can effectively decrease sadness, and that down-regulation reappraisal (relative to expression suppression) is a more effective regulation strategy for sadness. Both strategies impair the recognition of sad scenes, and expression suppression (compared to down-regulation reappraisal) leads to relatively greater impairment in the recognition of sad scenes.

Background Our understanding of the physiological responses of rice inflorescence (panicle) to environmental stresses is limited by the challenge of accurately determining panicle photosynthetic parameters and their impact on grain yield. This is primarily due to the lack of a suitable gas exchange methodology for panicles and non-destructive methods to accurately determine panicle surface area. Results To address these challenges, we have developed a custom panicle gas exchange cylinder compatible with the LiCor 6800 Infra-red Gas Analyzer. Accurate surface area measurements were determined using 3D panicle imaging to normalize the panicle-level photosynthetic measurements. We observed differential responses in both panicle and flag leaf for two temperate Japonica rice genotypes (accessions TEJ-1 and TEJ-2) exposed to heat stress during early grain filling. There was a notable divergence in the relative photosynthetic contribution of flag leaf and panicles for the heat-tolerant genotype (TEJ-2) compared to the sensitive genotype (TEJ-1). Conclusion The novelty of this method is the non-destructive and accurate determination of panicle area and photosynthetic parameters, enabling researchers to monitor temporal changes in panicle physiology during the reproductive development. The method is useful for panicle-level measurements under diverse environmental stresses and is sensitive enough to evaluate genotypic variation for panicle physiology and architecture in cereals with compact inflorescences.

The performance of a three-phase electromagnetic interference filter will be degraded due to noise-mode conversions. This article reveals these conversions are mainly induced by the unbalanced parameters of the filter's components. Moreover, the pulsewidth modulation strategies worsen this problem further. In order to evaluate the conversion contaminations, the unbalanced capacitors cases are addressed in detail, and a criterion on capacitor tolerance is then proposed. Furthermore, the impact of differential-mode components on this criterion is also highlighted. Finally, a common-mode LC filter is taken as an example to verify the proposed criterion, and the experimental results fit the prediction made by the criterion very well.

People could have a relatively great visiting experience in blue space no matter from visual or audio perspectives. However, blue space gained less attention in previous soundscape researches. More and more studies have proved the effect of visual and audio experience on visiting satisfaction or even the restorative potential of the soundscape. This study conducted an on-site survey in different blue spaces in Xi'an, China to explore how the visual, audio, and overall visiting satisfaction and the restorative potential of soundscape interacted in blue space. Furthermore, the relationships among them were also explored in different visiting duration. The results suggested that (1) Visual satisfaction didn't change over time while the soundscape satisfaction, overall satisfaction, and soundscape restoration peaked when people had stayed for 1 to 3 hours. (2) For four dimensions of soundscape restoration, Fascination peaked in 30 minutes to 1 hour, and Capability peaked in 30min-3h while Being-away and Extent remained constant. (3) As for overall satisfaction and soundscape restoration, the vision mainly contributed to them in the first 1 hour, while the hearing mainly contributed during 1 to 3 hours of experience. (4) As for POS (perceived occurrences) of sound sources, people could hear more natural sounds and human sounds in 30min-3h than in the first 30min. This study emphasized the importance of soundscape function in the planning and designing of urban blue space.

We present a neural modeling framework for non-line-of-sight (NLOS) imaging. Previous solutions have sought to explicitly recover the 3D geometry (e.g., as point clouds) or voxel density (e.g., within a pre-defined volume) of the hidden scene. In contrast, inspired by the recent Neural Radiance Field (NeRF) approach, we use a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) to represent the neural transient field or NeTF. However, NeTF measures the transient over spherical wavefronts rather than the radiance along lines. We therefore formulate a spherical volume NeTF reconstruction pipeline, applicable to both confocal and non-confocal setups. Compared with NeRF, NeTF samples a much sparser set of viewpoints (scanning spots) and the sampling is highly uneven. We thus introduce a Monte Carlo technique to improve the robustness in the reconstruction. Experiments on synthetic and real datasets demonstrate NeTF achieves state-of-the-art performance and can provide reliable reconstructions even under semi-occlusions and on non-Lambertian materials.

The camera calibration in monocular vision represents the relationship between the pixels’ units which is obtained from a camera and the object in the real world. As an essential procedure, camera calibration calculates the three-dimensional geometric information from the captured two-dimensional images. Therefore, a modified camera calibration method based on polynomial regression is proposed to simplify. In this method, a parameter vector is obtained by pixel coordinates of obstacles and corresponding distance values using polynomial regression. The set of parameter’s vectors can measure the distance between the camera and the ground object in the field of vision under the camera’s posture and position. The experimental results show that the lowest accuracy of this focal length calibration method for measurement is 97.09%, and the average accuracy was 99.02%.

Water deficit during the early vegetative growth stages of wheat (Triticum) can limit shoot growth and ultimately impact grain productivity. Introducing diversity in wheat cultivars to enhance the range of phenotypic responses to water limitations during vegetative growth can provide potential avenues for mitigating subsequent yield losses. We tested this hypothesis in an elite durum wheat background by introducing a series of introgressions from a wild emmer (Triticum turgidum ssp. dicoccoides) wheat. Wild emmer populations harbor rich phenotypic diversity for drought-adaptive traits. To determine the effect of these introgressions on vegetative growth under water-limited conditions, we used image-based phenotyping to catalog divergent growth responses to water stress ranging from high plasticity to high stability. One of the introgression lines exhibited a significant shift in root-to-shoot ratio in response to water stress. We characterized this shift by combining genetic analysis and root transcriptome profiling to identify candidate genes (including a root-specific kinase) that may be linked to the root-to-shoot carbon reallocation under water stress. Our results highlight the potential of introducing functional diversity into elite durum wheat for enhancing the range of water stress adaptation.

Improvement in the data gathering to track the practise environments of the sports performance. Among these, the Internet of Things (IoT) technology with smartphones is increasingly evolving to help people with their health problems. In the world of athletics, wearable devices can provide real-time data to track athletes’ heart rhythms and help athletic activities. The players’ pulse rates change at various positions as they play sport and track their heartbeat, allowing them to understand their fitness and improve a person’s health. Therefore, the study proposes a wearable sensor-based athletic movement prediction (WS-AMP) model. The model uses the deep learning algorithm to effectively classify motions usually extracted from the interactive motion panels and determine how feasible it is to perform wearable sensor data classification. On 523 athletes with nine athletic motions, data on optical motion capture have been obtained. The research performs the deep neural network model’s training and validation, incorporating the convolutional neural network. The experimental study performs the prediction analysis and comparison with existing machine learning models. The experimental above analysis of wearable sensor-based IoT health monitoring of Sport person movements prediction are Abnormal Conditions ratio is 86.65%, Spectrum analysis of heart rate ratio is 87.12%, the Error rate of body maintenance ratio is 83.51%, Mental acuity ratio is 87.10% and finally overall accuracy, and F1 score ratio is 93.80%.

Background Mitochondria are key regulators in cell proliferation and apoptosis. Alterations in mitochondrial function are closely associated with inflammation and tumorigenesis. This study aimed to investigate whether mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM), a key regulator of mitochondrial DNA transcription and replication, is involved in the initiation and progression of colitis‐associated cancer (CAC). Methods TFAM expression was examined in tissue samples of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and CAC by immunohistochemistry. Intestinal epithelial cell (IEC)‐specific TFAM‐knockout mice (TFAM △IEC) and colorectal cancer (CRC) cells with TFAM knockdown or overexpression were used to evaluate the role of TFAM in colitis and the initiation and progression of CAC. The underlying mechanisms of TFAM were also explored by analyzing mitochondrial respiration function and biogenesis. Results The expression of TFAM was downregulated in active IBD and negatively associated with the disease activity. The downregulation of TFAM in IECs was induced by interleukin‐6 in a signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3)/miR‐23b‐dependent manner. In addition, TFAM knockout impaired IEC turnover to promote dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)‐induced colitis in mice. Of note, TFAM knockout increased the susceptibility of mice to azoxymethane/DSS‐induced CAC and TFAM overexpression protected mice from intestinal inflammation and colitis‐associated tumorigenesis. By contrast, TFAM expression was upregulated in CAC tissues and contributed to cell growth. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that β‐catenin induced the upregulation of TFAM through c‐Myc in CRC cells. Mechanistically, TFAM promoted the proliferation of both IECs and CRC cells by increasing mitochondrial biogenesis and activity. Conclusions TFAM plays a dual role in the initiation and progression of CAC, providing a novel understanding of CAC pathogenesis., Our study uncover the opposite roles of TFAM in the initiation and progression of CAC, indicating that TFAM switches from tumor suppressor in the premalignant stages of tumorigenesis to oncogene at later stages of disease. Our data suggest that measuring TFAM status may serve as a clinically useful tool to identify patients at risk for colon dysplasia or cancer. In contrast, TFAM might also be a prognostic biomarker and pharmacological target for advanced CAC.
