Existing techniques for motion imitation often suffer a certain level of latency due to their computational overhead or a large set of correspondence samples to search. To achieve real-time imitation with small latency, we present a framework in this paper to reconstruct motion on humanoids based on sparsely sampled correspondence. The imitation problem is formulated as finding the projection of a point from the configuration space of a human's poses into the configuration space of a humanoid. An optimal projection is defined as the one that minimizes a back-projected deviation among a group of candidates, which can be determined in a very efficient way. Benefited from this formulation, effective projections can be obtained by using sparsely sampled correspondence, whose generation scheme is also introduced in this paper. Our method is evaluated by applying the human's motion captured by an RGB-depth (RGB-D) sensor to a humanoid in real time. We investigate the behaviors of rhenium (Re) and osmium (Os) and their interactions with point defects in tungsten (W) using a first-principles method. We show that Re atoms are energetically favorable to disperse separately in bulk W due to the Re–Re repulsive interaction. Despite the attractive interaction between Os atoms, there is still a large activation energy barrier of 1.10 eV at the critical number of 10 for the formation of Os clusters in bulk W based on the results of the total nucleation free energy change. Interestingly, the presence of vacancy can significantly reduce the total nucleation free energy change of Re/Os clusters, suggesting that vacancy can facilitate the nucleation of Re/Os in W. Re/Os in turn has an effect on the stability of the vacancy clusters (V
n ) in W, especially for small vacancy clusters. A single Re/Os atom can raise the total binding energies of V2 and V3 obviously, thus enhancing their formation. Further, we demonstrate that there is a strong attractive interaction between Re/Os and self-interstitial atoms (SIAs). Re/Os could increase the diffusion barrier of SIAs and decrease their rotation barrier, while the interstitial-mediated path may be the optimal diffusion path of Re/Os in W. The effects of helium (He) on the sliding and mechanical properties of a vanadium (V)Σ5(310)/[001] grain boundary (GB) have been investigated using a first-principles method. It has been found that He was energetically favorable sitting at the GB region with a segregation energy of −0.27 eV, which was attributed to the special atomic configurations and charge density distributions of the GB. The maximal sliding energy barrier of the He-doped GB was calculated to be 1.73 J/m2, ∼ 35% larger than that of the clean GB. This suggested that the presence of He would hinder the V GB mobility. Based on the thermodynamic criterion, the total energy calculations indicated that the embrittlement of V GB would be enhanced by He segregation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We investigate the structure, energetics, and the ideal tensile strength of tungsten (W) with hydrogen (H) using a first-principles method. Both density of states (DOS) and the electron localization function (ELF) reveal the underlying physical mechanism that the tetrahedral interstitial H is the most energetically favorable. The first-principles computational tensile test (FPCTT) shows that the ideal tensile strength is 29.1 GPa at the strain of 14% along the [001] direction for the intrinsic W, while it decreases to 27.1 GPa at the strain of 12% when one impurity H atom is embedded into the bulk W. These results provide a useful reference to understand W as a plasma facing material in the nuclear fusion Tokamak. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We have investigated the dissolution, segregation and diffusion of hydrogen (H) in a tungsten (W) grain boundary (GB) using a first-principles method in order to understand the GB trapping mechanism of H. Optimal charge density plays an essential role in such a GB trapping mechanism. Dissolution and segregation of H are directly associated with the optimal charge density, which can be reflected by the H solution and segregation energy sequence for the different interstitial sites. To occupy the optimal-charge-density site, H can be easily trapped by the W GB with the solution and segregation energy of [?]0.23 eV and [?]1.11 eV, respectively. Kinetically, such a trapping is easier to realize due to the much lower diffusion barrier of 0.13-0.16 eV from the bulk to the GB in comparison with the segregation energy, suggesting that it is quite difficult for the trapped H to escape out of the GB. However, the GB can hold no more than 2 H atoms because the isosurface of optimal charge density almost disappears with the second H atom in, leading to the conclusion that H2 molecule and thus H bubble cannot form in the W GB. Taking into account the lower vacancy formation energy in the GB as compared with the bulk, we propose that the experimentally observed H bubble formation in the W GB should be via a vacancy trapping mechanism. Abstract Background Although triptorelin is increasingly used in China for biochemical castration, its effects on primary prostate cancer symptoms remain unclear. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in Chinese prostate cancer patients and the effectiveness of triptorelin on LUTS. Methods In this 48-week multicenter, non-interventional, prospective study, we enrolled patients with locally advanced or metastatic prostate cancer. Patients received triptorelin (15 mg) intramuscularly at baseline and at weeks 12, 24, and 36 with symptom assessment using the International Prostate Symptoms Score (IPSS). The primary endpoints were the prevalence of LUTS at baseline per IPSS categories and the percentage of patients with moderate to severe LUTS (IPSS > 7) at baseline, having at least a 3-point reduction of IPSS score at week 48. Results A total of 398 patients were included; 211 (53.0%) and 160 (40.2%) among them had severe and moderate LUTS, respectively. Of the patients with IPSS scores available at baseline and at week 48 (n = 213), 81.2% achieved a reduction in IPSS of at least 3 points. Of the patients with moderate to severe LUTS at baseline and IPSS scores available at baseline and at week 48 (n = 194), 86.6% achieved a total IPSS reduction of at least 3 points. Conclusions The vast majority of Chinese patients with locally advanced or metastatic prostate cancer scheduled to receive triptorelin as part of their standard treatment have severe or moderate LUTS. Triptorelin therapy resulted in sustained improvement of LUTS in these patients.

Marveled at the discovery of artemisinin, the world's expectations for traditional Chinese medicine are rising. He's Yangchao formula (HSYC) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula with the effects of tonifying kidney and essence, and reconciling yin and yang. It has been clinically proven to have anti-ovarian aging effects. Age is the primary cause of diminished ovarian reserve and assisted reproductive failure in women, whether HSYC has the potential to improve in vitro maturation of oocytes from advanced maternal age (AMA) mice has yet to be determined. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and possible mechanism of HSYC in promoting in vitro maturation of oocytes from AMA mice. The GV oocytes were obtained from young and aged mice. The GV oocytes from young mice were cultured in drops of M16 medium, and the GV oocytes from AMA mice were randomly divided four groups: Vehicle group (cultured in 90% M16 medium +10% blank serum), Low HSYC group (cultured in 90% M16 medium + 10% Low HSYC-medicated serum), High-HSYC group (cultured in 90% M16 medium +10% High HSYC-medicated serum), and Quercetin group (cultured in M16 medium supplemented with 10 μM quercetin). The rates of first polar body extrusion, reactive oxygen species (ROS), intracellular calcium, and mitochondrial membrane potential levels in each groups were observed. In addition, expression levels of mitochondrial function, autophagy, DNA damage, and antioxidant-related proteins were assessed. Supplementation of HSYC in vitro alleviated age-associated meiotic progression defects in maternally aged oocytes. Importantly, HSYC supplementation eliminated the age-related ROS accumulation to suppress DNA damage and autophagy during the in vitro maturation of maternally aged oocytes. Meanwhile, the mitochondrial function was improved after HSYC treatment, as manifested by higher mitochondrial membrane potential and lower Ca2+ levels. Furthermore, we found that HSYC supplementation during in vitro maturation of maternally aged oocytes upregulated the expression level of SIRT3, a crucial protein in regulating mitochondrial function. Consistently, the expression levels of the SOD2, PCG1α, and TFAM were increased, while the SOD2 acetylation level was decreased, which further proved its antioxidant function. HSYC supplementation promotes in vitro maturation of oocytes from AMA mice mainly via improving mitochondrial function and alleviating oxidative stress. The mechanism may be related to the regulation of SIRT3-dependent deacetylation of the SOD2 pathway. A novel method based on acoustic pulse-compression and envelope extraction is proposed and discussed to detect and locate hydrate blockage and leak in natural gas pipelines. Linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal rather than single frequency sinusoidal signal is emitted to inspect the pipeline. Reflected signal is firstly processed through a matched filter and then demodulated with Hilbert transform so that the envelope is obtained. By envelope subtraction, the detection and location of hydrate blockage and leak can be achieved. Based on the measurement and signal processing principle, a simulation model has been established with COMSOL which verifies the feasibility of the method. Experimental results demonstrate that the technique can not only locate hydrate blockage and pipeline leak precisely but also monitor the hydrate formation process in real time. Besides, the spatial resolution is improved and the interference of noises is reduced significantly thanks to matched filtering. The novel method has significantly enhanced the performance of existing system and has considerable application prospect in natural gas pipeline safety online monitoring. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective. To explore the mechanism of cardioprotective effects of Chinese medicine, Yiqi Huoxue recipe, in rats with myocardial infarction- (MI-) induced heart failure. Methods. Male Sprague-Dawley rats underwent left anterior descending artery (LAD) ligation or sham operation. The surviving MI rats were divided randomly into three groups: MI (5 mL/kg/d NS by gavage), MI + Metoprolol Tartrate (MT) (12mg/kg/d MT by gavage), andMI + Yiqi Huoxue (5 mL/kg recipe by gavage). And the sham operation rats were given 5 mL/kg/d normal saline. Treatments were given on the day following surgery for 4 weeks. Then rats were detected for heart structure and function by transthoracic echocardiography. Apoptosis in heart tissues was detected by TUNEL staining. To determine whether the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response pathway is included in the cardio protective function of the recipe, ER stress related proteins such as GRP78 and caspase-12 were examined. Results. Yiqi Huoxue recipe attenuated heart function injury, reversed histopathological damage, alleviated myocardial apoptosis and inhibited ER stress in MI rats. Conclusion. All the results suggest that Yiqi Huoxue recipe improves the injured heart function may be through inhibition of ER stress response pathway, which is a promising target in therapy for heart failure. - Abstract
Aim: Salivary gland adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC) is the second highest incidence of malignant salivary gland tumor. The purpose of this study was to establish nomograms combined with SACC patients based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database., Methods: Patients with SACC were included in the SEER∗Stat Database from 2004 to 2016. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression analysis was applied to filter potential prognostic clinical variables. Multivariate analysis from the Cox proportional hazards model was performed to determine the independent prognostic factors on overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS), applied to develop nomograms. The Schönfeld residual test verified the proportional hazard assumption. The discrimination and consistency of nomograms was assessed and validated according to concordance index ( C -index), receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, and calibration curves using an internal 1,000 times bootstrap resampling. The nomogram's net clinical benefit was assessed through decision curve analysis (DCA)., Results: A total of 658 patients with SACC were included. Age, T stage, N stage, M stage, histologic grade, and surgery were independent prognostic factors for OS and DSS. Based on these independent prognostic factors, nomograms were developed to predict 3-, 5-, and 10-year OS and DSS. In the validation of 1,000 times bootstrap resampling, the C -index and ROC curves had good discriminatory ability. The calibration curves indicated excellent consistency between the predicted and actual survival results in the nomograms. The DCA curves demonstrated that the nomograms had good clinical benefit and were superior to the TNM stage and other variables., Conclusions: Two nomograms developed in this study precisely predicted the 3-, 5-, and 10-year OS and DSS rates of patients with SACC in accordance with independent prognostic factors, and their clinical value is better than TNM staging, providing a prognostic reference for other SACC patients., Competing Interests: All authors have no conflicts of interest to declare., (Copyright © 2022 Hong-shi Cai et al.)

- Abstract
Sclerosing cholangitis (SC) is a rarely reported morbidity secondary to transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) with bleomycin-iodinated oil (BIO) for liver cavernous hemangioma (LCH). This report retrospectively evaluated the diagnostic and therapeutic course of a patient with LDH who presented obstructive jaundice 6 years after TACE with BIO. Preoperative imaging identified a suspected malignant biliary stricture located at the convergence of the left and right hepatic ducts. Operative exploration demonstrated a full-thickness sclerosis of the hilar bile duct with right hepatic duct stricture and right lobe atrophy. Radical hepatic hilar resection with right-side hemihepatectomy and Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy was performed because hilar cancer could not be excluded on frozen biopsy. Pathological results showed chronic pyogenic inflammation of the common and right hepatic ducts with SC in the portal area. Secondary SC is a long-term complication that may occur in LCH patients after TACE with BIO and must be differentiated from hilar malignancy. Hepatic duct plasty is a definitive but technically challenging treatment modality for secondary SC.
