The Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA) seeks a base-rate increase of $190 per 40-foot container (FEU) on US imports from Japan. TSA wants increased rates on shipments under both tariffs and service contracts. However, an oversupply of vessel capacity may impede TSA's plan. Furthermore, TSA is not a shipping conference and its decisions are not binding on its members. Non-conference shipping lines may increase their rates up to $50 per FEU only., Would affect both tariff and contract shipments.
