A computer system was developed for reading on automatically an optical density of masss pectral line obtained by a solid mass spectrometric analysis and for typing out an analytical value in a desired sample, by combining a microphotometer with IBM 1800 computer. With the development of this system, reproducibility and accuracy were improved in a solid mass analysis. The time hitherto necessary for an operation of microphotometer was shortened from about five hours to two hours, in which only five. minutes are necessary to operate the setting of condition for manual operation. And then, this system can be extensively applied to the analysis of pattern, not only in a solid mass spectrometric analysis, but also in X-ray and electron diffractions.

Surface treatments were conducted on aluminum alloy ADC 12 by chemical tin plating, electroless nickel plating, molybdenum disulfide coating on zinc phosphating, and hard anodizing. Then, frictional and wear resistances of the above treated surfaces were studied.The results obtained were summarized as follows.(1) These treated surfaces showed particularly lower coefficients of statical friction by preventing adhesion of metallic substances.However, the combinations of the platings of the same kind, such as tin plating with electroless nickel plating, showed higher coefficients of statical friction.(2) Molybdenum disulfide coating had the most remarkable effects on lubrication and tin plating was the second.(3) It was found by wear test that these treated surfaces showed higher wear resistances than those of no treatment.(4) Molybdenum disulfide coating showed the highest wear resistance.(5) Electroless nickel plating and hard anodizing showed the next highest wear resistance. However, these surfaces considerably weared out the other contacting metal when they were combined with other metals. In particular, hard anodizing had remarkable effects.Therefore, it was found that anodizing is not a proper surface treatment if the treated surface is used in combination with a soft metal such as an aluminum alloy.(6) Tin plating was not very effective in surface treatment for rotors, because it gave thin film showing low wear resistance.On the other hand, tin plating was very effective for stators, because of higher wear resistance. The combination of tin plated surface on the stator and molybdenum sulfide coating on the rotor showed higher wear resistance than any other combinations.

高濃度(10%前後)油水中の異種混合油分を抽出分離し,個別定量する方法を検討した.油分の抽出に適した種々の溶媒についてその抽出能を調べた結果,n-ヘキサンとエタノールとの混合溶媒により塩析効果を併用すれば95%前後の高率で効果的な抽出ができることを確かめ,かつ抽出油分中の各油分は赤外吸収スペクトル法により簡便に個別定量できる新しい分析法を確立した.また,対象とした油の種類の示性分析は屈折率測定によって可能であった.

A study was made of the influences of source parameters on ion intensities of various elements in a triggered DC spark source mass spectrometry, in order to apply the mass spectrometric method to the analysis of iron and steel. The experiment was carried out with a CEC#21-11OB type doublefocusing mass spectrograph equipped with a triggered DC spark source system. The source parameters observed are a sustain voltage(0∼800V), a triggered voltage(0∼3000V), a pulse length(0∼10μsec), a sustain capacitance(0.5∼20μF)and a frequency(10∼3000c/s). A sustain voltage is remarkably effective and ion intensities are abruptly varied in the voltage range between 400 and 600V, especially in an iron matrix sample. Generally, it was found that the amount of M2+ produced with this spark source system is greater than that produced with a R. F. spark source. The behavior of each element can be divided into two general classes: V, Cr, Mo and Nb are belong to one class, and As, Ga and Ag the other, whose characteristics depend on the second ionization potential of each element. Ion intensities are not varied by change of source parameters except a sustain voltage. A frequency is suitable as a variable parameter for regulating ion intensities. At the sustain voltage of 300V, the intensity ratio of M+/M2+ increases considerably in comparison with at that of 600V. Darkening curve gets out of parallel shape under a different source condition. Reproducibilities, on the whole, are 3∼30%for coefficients of variation which agree with those in the R. F. spark source system.

Blood coagulation studies were performed in twenty patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). At the active stage of UC, a marked increase in platelet count and fibrinogen concentration, and a marked decrease in Factor XIII activity level were observed. At the active stage of UC, four patients were treated with Factor XIII concentrate leading to reduction of pain, bleeding and endoscopic findings.

A case of necrotizing angiitis is reported. After acute inflammatory changes had subsided, the patient developed the nephrotic syndrome. Postmortem examination disclosed a unique sclerotic glomerular lesion with deposition of eosinophilic material which contained IgM, IgA, C1, and C3. The lesion was distributed in rather selective areas perfused by some of the arcuate arteries.

Annealing properties of defects in F+- and B+-implanted Si were studied using monoenergetic positron beams. For F+-implanted specimen with a dose of 2×1013 F/cm2, before annealing treatment, the mean size of the open volume of defects was estimated to be close to the size of divacancies. After rapid thermal annealing (RTA) at 700° C, vacancy-fluorine complexes and vacancy clusters were formed. The mean size of the open volume for the vacancy-fluorine complexes was estimated to be close to the size of monovacancies, and their annealing temperature was determined to be 800° C. For F+-implanted specimen with a dose of 4×1015 F/cm2, complexes between vacancy clusters and fluorine atoms were introduced during solid-phase epitaxial growth of the amorphous region, and they were observed even after RTA at 1100° C. Effects of additional B+ implantation on annealing properties of defects are also discussed.

Background Non-adherence to aminosalicylates is observed among 30% to 45% of patients with ulcerative colitis and increases the risk of relapse. The Health Belief Model is a theoretical model that could offer a broader perspective to improve patients’ self-medication adherence. This study aimed to develop a screening instrument based on the Health Belief Model to screen patients with ulcerative colitis who had a high possibility of current non-adherence to aminosalicylates. The study was also designed to allow examination of factors of non-adherence. Methods A multicenter, cross-sectional study was conducted in outpatients diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and prescribed aminosalicylates. Non-adherence was defined as taking less than 80% of the prescribed dose. We hypothesized that there was a significant relationship between current aminosalicylate non-adherence and five components of the HBM: beliefs about taking aminosalicylates, disease characteristics, medication characteristics, abdominal symptoms, and sociodemographic characteristics. A logistic regression model was applied and the coefficients converted to a numeric scores in order to develop a screening instrument which could reliably discriminate non-adherent and adherent subjects. Results Non-adherence was observed in 127 (29.6%) of the 429 enrolled subjects. Lower perceptions of belief in taking aminosalicylates, absence of visible bleeding, eight daily tablets or less taken, and no concomitant use of thiopurines were related to non-adherence. We then developed a screening instrument comprising 22 items. When the cut-off point was set at 60, the instrument showed 85.0% sensitivity and 69.2% specificity with an area under the curve of 0.84 (95% confidence interval = 0.79–0.91). Conclusions The instrument appeared to be reliable for identifying patients with a high possibility of current non-adherence to aminosalicylates. Further, the instrument may provide useful information for detecting patients with a high possibility of current non-adherence and for assessing factors of non-adherence. On the other hand, we need to evaluate disease activity more strictly and examine whether it is included in the screening instrument in the future. Vacancy-type defects and their annealing properties for 200 keV P+-implanted 6H-SiC were studied using monoenergetic positron beams. For the specimen with a dose of 1×1013/cm2, the mean size of the open volume of defects was estimated to be close to that of divacancies. Based on the annealing behavior of theSparameter corresponding to the annihilation of positrons trapped by vacancy-type defects, the temperature range for the annealing of vacancy-type defects was divided into three stages. Annealing behavior in stages I (200–700°C) and II (700–1000°C) was identified as the agglomeration of defects due to migrations of monovacancies and vacancy complexes such as divacancies, respectively. In stage II, near the defect-free region, the agglomeration of defects was suppressed by recombination of vacancy-type defects and interstitials. Stage III (1000–1300°C) was assigned to be the formation of extended defects and their recovery processes. The annealing behavior of the amorphous region introduced by ion implantation was also discussed.

Annealing properties of defects in N2 +- or Al+-implanted 3C-SiC were studied using monoenergetic positron beams. For as-implanted specimens, the mean size of the open volume of defects was estimated to be close to that of divacancies. Based on the annealing behavior of the characteristic value of the S parameter corresponding to the annihilation of positrons trapped by vacancy-type defects, the temperature range for the annealing of defects was divided into five stages, and they were arbitrarily designated as I–V. Annealing behavior in stages I (20–500° C), II (500–800° C) and III (800–1000° C) was identified as the agglomeration of vacancy-type defects due to migrations of carbon vacancies, Si vacancies and vacancy complexes such as divacancies, respectively. Stages IV (1000–1200° C) and V (1200–1400° C) were assigned to be the formation of extended defects and their recovery processes, respectively. Effects of the species of the implanted ions and the substrate temperature during ion implantation on annealing properties of defects are also discussed.

Vacancy-type defects in heavily phosphorus-doped Si epitaxial films were probed by monoenergetic positron beams. Doppler broadening profiles of the annihilation radiation and lifetime spectra of positrons were measured for the epitaxial films grown on the Si substrates by plasma chemical vapor deposition. For the as-deposited film, divacancy-phosphorus complexes were found with high concentration. After 600° C annealing, vacancy clusters were formed near the Si/Si interface, while no drastic change in the depth distribution of the divacancy-phosphorus complexes was observed. By 900° C annealing, the vacancy clusters were annealed out; however, the average number of phosphorus atoms coupled with divacancies increased. The relationship between the vacancy-type defects probed by the positron annihilation technique and the carrier concentration was confirmed.
