In order to clarify the spatial pattern and influencing factors on industrial agglomeration in urban agglomerations, based on the data of prefecture-level cities from 2006 to 2018, this paper uses spatial standard deviation ellipse to analyze the spatial pattern evolution of manufacturing, producer services, consumer services, and foreign-invested industries and takes a dynamic spatial Durbin model to empirically test the influencing factors of industrial agglomeration in Pearl River Delta (PRD) urban agglomeration. The main conclusions are as follows: 1) the degree of industrial agglomeration is at a low level and the difference in the industrial agglomeration level between cities is mainly manifested in the service industries; 2) manufacturing and foreign-invested industries have entered the stage of industrial diffusion, and all types of industries show an east (by south)-to-west (by north) pattern, with a trend of expansion to the south and north; 3) the agglomeration level of service industries and foreign-invested industries on the east bank of the Pearl River is higher than that on the west; and 4) from the empirical results, there is a general inertia effect in the industrial agglomeration and a siphon effect in the manufacturing agglomeration. Economic scale, transportation infrastructure, government intervention, opening up, and urban environment can all positively influence the agglomeration in some industries, with the apparent spatial spillover effects of each influencing factor. In addition, from the long-term factors of industrial agglomeration, the coordinated development of urban agglomeration is beneficial to the agglomeration of manufacturing and producer services. Breakthrough innovation and incremental innovation have different impacts on economic development. For regional development, it is important to find a balance in dual innovation, which entails effective coordination of allocating innovation resources and managing risks. However, little attention has been given to the spatial relationship and differentiation mechanisms between breakthrough innovation and incremental innovation. Therefore, our research takes China's three major urban agglomerations as examples, aiming to explore the spatial–temporal pattern evolution, influencing factors, spatial relationship, and spatial organizational patterns of breakthrough innovation and incremental innovation from 2000 to 2021. The research found that the spatial distribution of urban dual innovation is affected by the law of distance decay, and the spatial distribution of incremental innovation is more polycentric than that of breakthrough innovation. In terms of the differentiation mechanism, breakthrough innovation is more affected by the innovation atmosphere, while incremental innovation is more likely to be affected by the economic foundation and built environment. Our research effectively supplements the shortcomings in the spatial relationship research of breakthrough innovation and incremental innovation and provides references for formulating innovation policies. This article explains the idea of pattern systems that develop gradually. These systems involve symbolic communication that includes symbols, syntax, and layout rules. Some pattern systems change over time, like historical scripts. The scientific study of pattern systems is called pattern evolution research, and scriptinformatics is concerned with the modelling of the evolution of scripts. The symbol series consists of symbols from a pattern system, while the graph sequence is a symbol sequence applied with a specific technology. This article describes a method for examining tested pattern systems to confirm their classification, which focuses on more ancient features. The method's effectiveness was tested on Rovash scripts and graph sequences. Cotton is an important agricultural crop and strategic resource. China is currently the country with the largest global cotton production and consumption, but few studies have systematically analyzed the dynamic relationship between factor price change (FPC) and cotton production pattern evolution (CPPE). Based on provincial panel data from the main cotton planting areas from 1985 to 2021, this paper used spatial econometric models to empirically analyze the impact of FPC including labor price, production material cost, and mechanical cost on CPPE from the perspective of mechanical substitution difficulty. The findings are that (1) FPC significantly affected CPPE, specifically the rise of labor price induced the demand for mechanical substitution, resulting in a significant cotton agglomeration effect; (2) spatial econometric analysis found that FPC had a significant spatial spillover effect on CPPE in adjacent regions; and (3) the transfer analysis found that higher mechanical substitution difficulty exerted an inhibitory effect on cotton planting, leading to a gradual shift of the main cotton planting areas from the Yangtze River Basin and Yellow River Basin with high labor prices to the Northwest Inland region with lower labor prices. Updating the production technology and improving the efficiency of cotton specialization are effective strategies. The mainstream basin of the Tarim River serves as a vital ecological security barrier that prevents the merging and expansion of deserts and an important strategic corridor directly linking Qinghai and Xinjiang. With society's development and climate change, ecological issues such as river interruption, vegetation degradation, and land desertification in the basin have notably intensified, and the ecological security is facing a critical test. Exploring the characteristics of landscape changes and their driving factors within the basin is crucial in improving the ecological environment system's management. Based on land use data from 1980 to 2020, this study analyzed the characteristics of the spatiotemporal changes and pattern evolution of the landscape through a landscape transfer matrix and landscape pattern indices. It further revealed the impact factors of the landscape pattern through canonical correspondence analysis. The results showed that (1) in 1980–2020, the areas of desert, forest, farmland, and settlement landscapes increased, while the area of grassland landscape decreased, and the water landscape showed an "increasing–decreasing–recovery" pattern. The landscape transition types mainly included the transition from grassland to desert; mutual transitions among farmland, grassland, and forests; mutual transitions between water and grassland; and the transition from farmland to settlements. (2) The overall landscape pattern demonstrated increased fragmentation, shape complexity, and evenness with decreased aggregation. Furthermore, different landscapes exhibited distinct characteristics of landscape pattern changes; for instance, grassland landscape showed severe fragmentation, while desert landscape displayed the strongest dominance. (3) The landscape pattern was a result of the combined impact of natural and human factors, with the soil thickness (SOT), road density (ROD), annual actual evapotranspiration (AAE), population density (POD), and mean annual temperature (MAT) exhibiting significant influences. Specifically, the settlement and farmland landscapes were mainly influenced by the mean annual relative humidity (MAH), POD, GDP density (GDP), and distance to artificial water (DAW); the forest, grassland, and water landscapes were mainly influenced by the SOT, soil organic matter content (SOM), AAE, ROD, elevation (ELE), MAT, slope (SLP), and distance to natural water (DNW); and the desert landscape was mainly influenced by the DAW, DNW, SLP, AAE, SOT, SOM, and ROD. Multi-functional trade-off and synergy of cultivated land can be accurately quantified to characterize the hidden form of cultivated land. In this study, the multi-functional analytical framework was constructed to evaluate the functional classification of cultivated land in the Yellow River Basin (Henan section) using the time series social and economic development data from 1990 to 2020. The function of cultivated land was firstly divided into the production, social, ecological, and cultural function. The multi-functional index of cultivated land was then calculated to reveal the multi-functionality evolution of cultivated land. The dominant function was clarified for the cultivated land at different stages of transformation. After that, a land system function trade-off degree (LFTD) model was selected for the trade-off and collaborative analysis. As such, the hidden form of cultivated land use was determined to explore the complex evolution and influence mechanism of cultivated land multi-function in the process of cultivated land transformation. The results show that: 1) The multi-function of cultivated land showed a fluctuating upward trend from 1990 to 2020. Specifically, the production function of cultivated land continued to increase, due to the ever-increasing yield level of grain crops and the total power of agricultural machinery. The social function index of cultivated land also increased slightly with the increase of per capita net income of farmers. Nevertheless, a downward trend was found in the ecological function index of cultivated land, particularly for the use of chemical fertilizers after 2010. Fortunately, the cultural function of cultivated land increased significantly with the increase of cultural investment and agricultural sightseeing garden area. 2) Six stages were divided for the variation in the multifunctionality of cultivated land from 1990 to 2020, according to the functional hierarchy. The production and ecological functions were dominated in the first four stages of 1990-2010, while the production and cultural functions were in the last two stages of 2010-2020, indicating the more complicated relationship between functions. 3) The interaction among the production, social, ecological, and cultural functions of cultivated land showed the evolution characteristics of “trade-off was dominant-trade-off and synergistic is balanced-trade-off is dominant” from 1990 to 2020. A significant transformation was observed in the cultivated land function after 2010. 4) The correlation coefficients were varied with the time from 1990 to 2020, in term of the influencing factors of cultivated land transformation. Moreover, the significant influencing factors were also determined as the urbanization rate, total power of agricultural machinery, total grain output, and proportion of tertiary industry. The hidden morphological changes of cultivated land were greatly contributed to the transformation of cultivated land use. The finding can provide a strong reference to construct the regulation path of the green transformation and the evolution process of human-land relationship for the sustainable use of cultivated land. As an organic part of urban functions, industrial land is of great significance to the urban healthy and sustainable development. Although consensus has been reached on the evolutionary characteristics and spatial effects of industrial land, the influence mechanism of the evolution of industrial land on urban space still needs further exploration. Therefore, the evolution of industrial land in Xi'an from 2003 to 2019 is analyzed by the land use change matrixes, mixed degrees index, and sprawl index according to the multisource data. The results show that the scale change of industrial land is characterized by an inverted U-shaped curve and development zone-oriented spatial aggregation. Suburbanization, the conversion of agricultural land to industrial land in the suburbs, has intensified urban sprawl, resulting in more serious work-living imbalance and traffic congestion. Deindustrialization, the conversion of industrial land to residential, commercial, and business facilities land in the city center, has promoted urban sprawl, generated a large amount of construction waste, and caused a waste of resources. Based on the complex factors such as urban planning, land finance, and development zones, this study contributes to the research of the improvement of the rationality of urban land layout by revealing the influence mechanism of the evolution of industrial land on urban space. The cultural industry not only serves as an important support for the urban economy, but also has a significant impact on the evolution of urban spatial patterns. This study analyzes the evolution of the spatial distribution pattern of Nanjing's cultural enterprises and the mecha‐ nism of location choice with the business registration data of cultural and tourism enterprises, taking the Nanjing's sub-district as the spatial scale and using LISA time path, the space-time transition, geographical weighted regression and other methods. The results show that: ①The spatial pattern of Nanjing's cultural enterprises is significantly differentiated and spatially ag‐ glomerated. ②The evolution of the spatial pattern of cultural enterprises in Nanjing features a high degree of negative spatial integration. Apart from that, it is shown that a certain amount of transfer inertia between different street unit types. Besides, there is a relatively dynamic local spatial structure in the central peri-urban areas, while the southeastern and northwestern distant suburbs have greater fluctuations in the direction of spatial dependence. ③Historical industrial base, road density, tertiary institutions and other factors have a more prominent influence on the choice of location of cultural enterprises. The Yellow River Delta is the youngest large river delta in the world and is an important part of the national coordinated regional development strategy. In this paper, using the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform, Landsat remote sensing images in the summer (June–September) of 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020 were selected to remove clouds and mask water body information. The median value is taken to synthesize the remote sensing images of each year and extract multiple indices of greenness, wetness, heatness, and dryness. Then integrate the population density data by principal component analysis to quickly construct an improved composite remote sensing ecological index (CRSEI). The results showed that the average contribution of the six indicators of greenness (NDVI and FVC), wetness (NDMI), heatness (LST), dryness (NDBSI), and population density (Pop) to the first principal component (PC1) was above 79%, and the construction of an improved comprehensive remote sensing ecological index (CRSEI) based on PC1 was feasible in the Yellow River Delta. In the past 20 years, the ecological and environmental quality of the Yellow River Delta has shown a continuous trend of improvement. The ecological environment quality has improved by 3570.95 square kilometers, accounting for 48.0% of the total area, while the ecological environment quality has degraded by 712.99 square kilometers, accounting for only 9.6% of the total area. The improved area is 38.4% more than the degraded area, which shows that the ecological environment quality has improved in general. The ecological environment quality in Kenli County has improved the most. The ecological projects have been implemented in this area with the most obvious effect, and the investment in ecological environmental protection in this area should be continued or increased. The use of the GEE platform can obtain timely and accurate spatial and temporal patterns and evolution of ecological environmental quality in the Yellow River Delta, which is of great significance for ecological environmental protection and construction.
