In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Asian Academy of Management Journal (AAMJ), this study presents a general overview on the publication structure of the journal from 1996 to 2019. The study identifies the most productive authors, universities, and countries mainly using the Scopus database. It also enlists the most cited documents of the journal. Besides, the study graphically maps the intellectual structure based on co-citation, bibliographic coupling, and co-occurrence of authors’ keywords. The findings show the prominent Asian profile of the journal where most of the contributions come from the Asian countries and the universities. Specifically, authors from Malaysia and India remain the most frequent contributors. These findings provide readers of AAMJ with an objective overview of the trends of the journal. The study may be useful for future contributors as it provides inputs for the future research agenda.

Senescence is a cellular process that can be initiated by certain stressors such as UVA irradiation. The mechanism by which skin cells protect themselves from the UVA-induced senescence has not been fully investigated. Here, we demonstrate that Bach2 modulates the extent of UVA-induced photoaging through regulation of autophagy in skin fibroblasts. In fact chronic exposure of skin fibroblasts to UVA resulted in a significant decrease in Bach2 expression, both in vitro and in vivo. In addition, knockdown of Bach2 in skin fibroblasts led to an increased expression of cell senescence-related genes, which further enhanced the UVA irradiation-induced photoaging. On the other hand, the overexpression of Bach2 resulted in a decrease in the expression of cell senescence-related genes. We also demonstrate that the knockdown of Bach2 in skin fibroblasts can lead to a decreased expression of autophagy-related genes and vice versa, suggesting that autophagy is involved in Bach2-mediated regulation of senescence in skin fibroblasts. Additionally, inhibition of autophagy with autophagy inhibitor 3-MA suppressed the expression of autophagy-related proteins and promoted cell senescence. Furthermore, knockout of Atg5 or Atg7 in embryonic mouse fibroblasts led to a significant increase in the expression of cell senescence-related genes. Immunoprecipitation assays further demonstrated that Bach2 directly interacts with Beclin-1, Atg3, Atg7, and LC3 in fibroblasts. Taken together, these findings revealed a critical role for Bach2 in suppressing the UVA irradiation-induced cell senescence via autophagy in skin fibroblasts. Bach2 can therefore be a potential target for the therapy of UV-induced photoaging because of its ability to regulate the process of autophagy in the skin.

The objectives of the present study were to develop the environmental friendly, low price, easy and fast method for developing the antibacterial cuprous oxide coated multifunctional fabrics. At first, fabrics were sensitized with citric acid then the formation of Cu2O particles was done by Fehling solution method. In second step, the cuprous oxide particles were deposited on cotton fabrics. Three different types of reducing agents with different concentrations were selected to make the Cu2O particles. Surface morphology and presence of metals were analysed by scanning electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, FTIR, EDS and XRD. The antibacterial activity of cuprous oxide coated fabrics was tested against qualitative and quantitative measurements. The strongest antibacterial effect was found for the fabrics coated with cuprous oxide particles reduced with sodium hydrosulphite at 1 g/l. Furthermore, the utility of hygienic antimicrobial developed fabrics were analysed for the comfort properties regarding air permeability and stiffness. At the end, durability of coating was confirmed by measuring the antibacterial properties and SEM analysis after washing.

Plants are known to be a great source of phytochemicals for centuries. Medicago, belonging to the Family Fabaceae, is a large and well spread genus comprising about 83 cosmopolitan species, of which one-third are annuals and span diverse ecological niches. Medicago species are rich in saponins mainly classified into three classes, namely, steroid alkaloid glycosides, triterpene glycosides, and steroid glycosides. These saponins are important compounds having diverse pharmacological and biological activities. As a whole, 95 of saponins are reported to date occurring in Medicago species using various latest extraction/isolation techniques. Considering the multiple biological and pharmacological potential of Medicago species due to saponins along with structural diversity, we compiled this review article to sum up the recent reports for the pharmacological potential of the Medicago’s derived saponins in modern as well as traditional medication systems. The current manuscript produces data of chemical structures and molecular masses of all Medicago species saponins simultaneously. The toxicity of certain pure saponins (aglycones) has been reported in vitro; hederagenin appeared highly toxic in comparison to medicagenic acid and bayogenin against X. index, while soyasaponin I, containing soyasapogenol B as a glycone, appeared as the least toxic saponin. The diversity in the structural forms shows a close relationship for its biological and pharmacological actions. Moreover, saponins showed antioxidant properties and the mechanism behind antimicrobial potential also elaborated in this review article is mainly because of the side sugar groups on these compounds. The collected data presented herein include chemical structures and molecular masses of all saponins so far. Their biological activity and therapeutic potential are also discussed. This information can be the starting point for future research on this important genus.

PurposeThis study examined the link between abusive supervision and subordinates’ turnover intentions via job dissatisfaction. In addition, this study examined the moderating effect of continuance commitment in this process.Design/methodology/approachThe authors collected three-wave time lagged data (N = 190) from the hospitality industry in China.FindingsThe analysis showed that abusive supervision predicts subordinates’ turnover intentions both directly and indirectly via job dissatisfaction. Moreover, continuance commitment was considered to be a boundary condition such that the mediated link was weaker when higher levels of continuance commitment were present.Practical implicationsThis study explains how and when abusive supervision leads to turnover intentions in the hospitality industry. This study also helps hospitality managers to understand the abusive supervision prevalence and provide interventions that can reduce detrimental effects of abusive supervision in hospitality organizations.Originality/valuePrior research examining the influence of supervisor abuse in hospitality organizations was scant. To bridge this noteworthy gap, this study examined the influence of abusive supervision in Chinese hospitality organizations. This study also discussed the theoretical and practical implications for the hospitality industry.

This paper examines the impact of online entertainment media on privacy, safety, psychological wellbeing and academic achievements of youth through the smart phones. The authors reviewed literature on excessive use of social media, business and marketing industries by Chris Anderson, Rasmous Kleis Neilson, Lijun Zhou, Kathleen Van Royen, Karolien Poels, Heidi Vandebosch, Philippe Adam, William G. Zikmund et. al. and others, and developed the theoretical framework around the excessive usage of new media and credibility theories. They prepared a survey questionnaire to study the said impact of new entertainment media on privacy, safety, psychological wellbeing and academic achievements of youth, taking N=200 students of University of Lahore. They used the statistical tools for data analysis. The regression analysis of the dependent variables "Privacy", "Safety", "Psychological Needs", and "Educational Achievements" against the independent variable Online Entertainment Media show the extent rate at 44.2%, 62.9%, 83%, and 80.2 % respectively among youth.

Purpose: To synthesize and characterize some new gabapentin Schiff base derivatives, and to assess their antibacterial, antioxidant and antiepileptic activities.Methods: Four Schiff base derivatives of gabapentin, termed G1, G2, G3 and G4, were synthesized by condensation with benzoin, vanillin, acetophenone, and benzophenone, respectively. Their chemical identities were established by FTIR, 1 H NMR and 13C NMR techniques. The new compounds were screened for antibacterial activity using agar well method, antioxidant activity by DPPH assay, and anticonvulsant activity against pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) induced seizures in mice.Results: All the compounds showed antibacterial activity against the test strains to variable degrees, while the parent drug did not exhibit antibacterial activity. The zones of inhibition of compound G2 against Micrococcus luteus (36.2 ± 1.0 mm) and Serratia marcescens (28.2 ± 1.0 mm), and of compound G4 against Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (36.8 ± 1.0 mm) were larger compared to thestandard drug, doxycycline, exhibiting zones of inhibition 28.2 ± 1.3, 28.2 ± 0.9 and 20.0 ± 0.9 mm, respectively. In addition, compounds G1 and G2 possessed significantly greater (p < 0.05) radical scavenging activity (82.3 ± 1.8 and 92.3 ± 2.2 %, respectively) than the precursor drug, gabapentin (63.2± 2.6 %). The seizure scores for compounds G1 (0.7 ± 0.06) and G2 (0.9 ± 0.07) were comparable(p ˃ 0.05) with gabapentin (0.8 ± 0.06), while compounds G3 and G4 were less active (p < 0.05) than gabapentin.Conclusion: Compounds G1 and G2 exhibit good antibacterial and antioxidant activities while retaining the anticonvulsant activity of the parent drug, gabapentin, thus making them suitable candidates for further development for the treatment of neurodegenerative pathologies associated with bacterial infections. Context: Patients with liver disease are always at high risk of post-operative complications. The prediction of postoperative outcome is very crucial in the management of these patients. Various prediction models are in use to serve this purpose. Childs-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) and Model of End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) scoring systems are globally used to predict post-operative mortality in end stage liver disease patients. Aims: To compare the results of CTP and MELD scoring systems for predicting outcome in patients of chronic liver disease and to conclude which model is better for risk stratification, so as to enable us in better management of these patients. Settings and Design: Observational study Methods and Material: This is an Observational study that was carried out at General Surgery Department of Nishtar Medical University and Hospital from October 2019 to March 2020. We collected data from 30 patients. All the surgeries were done by the same team of consultant surgeons. All the investigations were done by the same institution. Scores of both CTP and MELD models were calculated preoperatively and post-operative outcome was compared with them to find out which model was a better predictor of mortality. Statistical analysis used: All the continuous variables were reported as mean ± standard deviation. Kaplan Meyer Survival Analysis was conducted to compare post-op survival time among patients divided on the basis of MELD score and CTP Grade. PurposeCustomer value cocreation (VCC) behavior is gaining increased scholarly attention in the services marketing discipline and has become a top research priority in recent times. Despite the growing interest in studying VCC, less scholarly attention has been paid to study the crucial role of frontline service employees in activating customer participation in the VCC process. Hence, to bridge this research gap, the present research expanded VCC research streams by investigating the mediating effect of frontline service employees' innovative behavior in psychological capital and customer VCC behavior relationship.Design/methodology/approachData collected from 255 hotel employee–customer dyads were analyzed through Smart PLS to measure the proposed relationships.FindingsThe results suggest the mediating effect of frontline service employees' innovative behavior in psychological capital and customer VCC behavior relationship.Originality/valueThe current research made a significant contribution to the VCC field by identifying driving forces that encourage customers to exhibit VCC behaviors.

Purpose To commemorate the 13th anniversary of the Chinese Management Studies (CMS) and suggest future research directions, this study aims to present an overview of the CMS through a systematic bibliometric analysis from 2007 to 2019. The analysis emphasizes the trend of themes, structure of publications and citations, the most cited publications, the most productive authors, universities, countries and regions. Design/methodology/approach The study uses the data extracted from the Scopus database to present an overview; besides, it also uses VOSviewer and Bibliometrix software packages to visualize the intellectual network of CMS. Findings This analysis is based on 486 publications between 2007 and 2019. Results show that there is a rising trend in the number of citations to CMS. The researchers from China were the most frequent contributors to the journal, whereas researchers from the USA, Taiwan, Singapore and Australia were well represented. In addition, the results show that innovation, leadership, human resource management and corporate social responsibility have been the most important research themes in the journal. Practical implications This study offers an objective view of the CMS publication structure. The study’s findings can help the journal readers obtain a quick snapshot of the leading trends occurring in the journal. Furthermore, this study provides future research directions for the journals by underscoring important themes. Originality/value As the journal’s first retrospective, this study not only educates and enriches CMS’ global readers and aspiring contributors but can also be useful to its editorial board, as it provides several inputs in the form of future research directions to guide the journal’s progress.

PurposeDrawing motivation from Lawrence Bossidy's quote and leaning on the conservation of resources (COR) theory, in this study, the authors aim to investigate the role of high-performance work practices (HPWPs) and psychological capital (H.E.R.O) in employee innovative work behavior (EIB).Design/methodology/approachThe study is banked on a hypothetico-deductive approach. The relationships were measured by gathering data from 375 frontline service employees through structural equation modeling.FindingsThe study results indicate a positive impact of HPWPs on EIB. Moreover, the association between HPWPs-EIB is mediated by psychological capital (PsyCap).Research limitations/implicationsThe current study contributed to the innovation research stream by determining driving forces that encourage employees to exhibit innovative work behaviors.Originality/valueEmployee innovative behavior has become imperative for organizational survival and success in an ever-changing global business environment. Owing to this organizational significance, employee innovative behavior continues to gain burgeoning research attention. Despite the rising scholarly interest in studying employee innovative behavior, there is a dearth of knowledge about how innovation can be fostered at the individual level, particularly among frontline service employees. Hence, to bridge this research gap, the present study intends to analyze the influence of high-performance work practices on employee innovative work behavior, mediated by psychological capital.

This study presents a bibliometric analysis of Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management (CSREM) covering the period from 2003 to 2020. Data for the analysis is drawn from the Scopus database. The analysis of 875 publications reflects an admirable pursuit for intellectual excellence by the journal. It is starting with five citations in 2003; the journal has earned 6434 citations during the year 2020. Over the last 18 years, the journal has accumulated 22,770 citations. The paper provides an in‐depth insight into what has been achieved by the journal by analyzing bibliographic mapping of knowledge, intellectual structure of publications, contributions by universities, countries, and authors using bibliographic coupling (BC), co‐citations, and co‐occurrence (CC) methods. As the first retrospection of the journal, the study would be of interest to the readers, contributors, and the editorial board, as it offers inputs for future research.

PurposeA leader's job is not to put greatness into people, but rather to recognize that it already exists and to create an environment where that greatness can emerge and grow (Smith, 2014). Based on Brad Smith's quote, the purpose of this study is to investigate the role of the leader's expectations, leader-member exchange (LMX) and organizational climate for innovation in fostering the intrapreneurial behavior (IB) of employees.Design/methodology/approachData were collected from employees and their supervisors working across industries such as pharmaceutical, chemical, engineering and manufacturing. Collected data were then analyzed using the structural equation modeling technique.FindingsThe authors’ results show that LMX and leaders' expectations are positively linked to employees' IB. Moreover, this association is mediated by organizational climate.Practical implicationsThis study's findings contribute to the literature on intrapreneurship and may also help practitioners formulate interventions to foster IB in organizations that will ultimately lead to higher performance.Originality/valueThis study attempted to investigate the effect of LMX and the Pygmalion effect on IB through employees' perception of organizational climate for innovation. The literature in this field is scarce and theoretical development is weak because traditional collaborative or participative leadership approaches are more relevant to an outcome than innovation.

Objective: To study the clinical outcomes and determine the antibiotic resistance in patients of enteric perforation in a tertiary care hospital. Study Design: Cross Sectional study. Setting: Department of General Surgery at Nishtar Hospital, Multan. Period: May 2017 to December 2019. Material & Methods: Sample size was calculated to be 97 with a confidence level of 95% and margin of error of 10%. We collected data from 100 patients. All the surgeries were done by the same team of consultant surgeons. The abdomen was closed by the same surgical team using the same surgical technique to avoid any bias. All the continuous variables were reported as mean ± standard deviation. The antibiotic resistance was compared with the number of patients with wound infections, burst abdomen, ICU admissions and number of in-hospital stay days. Categorical variables were compared using Chi square test for Independence. The number of in-hospital stay days were compared using Student t-test. The results were compiled using SPSS version 20. Results: Our result indicated that a patient had a greater chance of having a burst abdomen and wound infection if there was resistance to ciprofloxacin or ceftriaxone. Similar results were obtained for ICU admissions. There was a significantly longer in-hospital stay observed for patients who were resistant to the standard regimen of Ceftriaxone. Conclusion: It seems only rationale that the patients susceptible should be treated with Imipinem for 2 weeks as the empirical therapy rather than the standard empirical therapy of ceftriaxone and ciprofloxacin. The blood cultures can be sent before starting Imipinem and treatment management plan changed if the culture results are sensitive for the empiric antibiotics.

BACKGROUND: Dynamic and globalized business environment incites organizations to be innovative for long-term survival. This central role of innovation provokes the continuing interest of social scientists in determining the antecedents of Innovative work behavior in organizations. OBJECTIVE: In line with the prior studies, this study aims to investigate the role of inclusive leadership in fostering employee innovative work behavior. Additionally, this study also investigates the mediating role of psychological safety. METHODS: Data were collected through a questionnaire from employees working in Pakistani banks. Hypothesized relationships were analyzed using structural equation modeling. RESULTS: The findings of the study depicted a positive relationship between inclusive leadership and IWB, while mediation of psychological safety was also established. CONTRIBUTION: This study contributes to the existing literature in multiple ways. Although the link between inclusive leadership and creativity is measured but in what ways inclusive leadership develops the perception of employees, which leads towards positive outcomes is a contribution. This study extends the understanding of relational leadership by focusing on its specific dimension that is IL, instead of focusing on the broader construct of leadership.

BACKGROUND: For augmentation and sustainability of Human Systems Management (HSM), it is significant to analyse and reposition journals, which is very well done by bibliometric analysis. OBJECTIVE: The study aims to provide the retrospective of HSM between 1980– 2019. METHOD: Scopus database has been employed to bibliographic indicators for the representation of available data for forty years. By utilising the VOSviewer software, bibliographic materials being drawn from keywords, graphical visuals, bibliographic coupling & co-citation analysis have been done. RESULTS: Results enabled to establish that the average number of publications remained almost the same throughout forty years, tinting the journal has been as vital in 2019 for researchers as it was in 1980. Citations originated drastic mounting with recently published documents in comparison with earlier production. CONCLUSIONS: Authors and researchers are suggested to cover knowledge and knowledge management related articles. This study suggests management to ensure the inculcation of more related areas in the scope by announcing special issues to broaden the journals’ scope as it remained the main reason for limiting HSM from gaining as much attention as it deserved.

Introduction Sinopharm (BBIBP-CorV) inactivated virus vaccination for COVID-19 has been administered widely in Pakistan. We investigated the dynamics of BBIBP-CorV -induced antibody responses over a 24 week period in a region with a high seroprevalence. Methods Study subjects (n = 312) were followed up over a 24-week period between May and August 2021. Sera were tested for IgG antibodies to spike and the receptor binding domain (RBD). Results Study subjects were 62% female. Twenty-two percent had a prior history of COVID-19. At 4-, 8- 16- and 24-weeks post-vaccination, the rate of IgG antibodies positive to spike was 57%, 87%, 66% and 90% of individuals, compared with to RBD which was 48%, 62%, 68% and 85% of subjects, respectively,. The 10-valent pneumococcal vaccine was introduced in Pakistan’s Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) in 2013 as a 3+0 schedule without catchup. We conducted three annual cross-sectional surveys from 2014-2016 to measure vaccine-type (VT) carriage in infants from a rural part of Pakistan. Nasopharyngeal specimens were collected by random sampling of infants from 2 union councils of Matiari. Samples were then transported to Infectious Disease Research Laboratory (IDRL) at the Aga Khan University within 6-8 hours of collection. Serotypes were established using sequential multiplex PCR. The present study aimed to recognize the recent literature to highlight the pharmacological impacts and highlight the therapeutic potential of the active molecule eriocitrin. Citrus limon are a good resource of the flavanone eriocitrin (eriodictyol 7-O-β-D-rutinoside). Eriocitrin has potent biological actions due to its strong antioxidant, antitumor, anti-allergic, antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory activities. Eriocitrin is more potent in suppressing oxidative stress in diabetes mellitus (DM) and other chronic diseases incurred by excessive oxidative stress. During metabolism, eriocitrin is metabolized by gut microbiota, and a chain of molecules such as eriodictyol, methy-eriodictyol, 3,4-dihydroxyhydrocinnamic acid (DHCA), and much more conjugated molecules. More in-depth studies are recommended to explore this drug for clinical trials.
