Morusalba is a fast-growing shrub or medium-sized tree with a straight, cylindrical trunk. Medicinally, whole plants, leaves, fruits, branches, and roots have been employed. Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were used to search for relevant material on the phytochemical components and pharmacologic and mechanism of action of the Morus alba. This was reviewed to assess important updates about Morus alba. The fruits of Morus alba have traditionally been used as an analgesic, anthelmintic, antibacterial, anti-rheumatic, diuretic, hypotensive, hypoglycemia, purgative, restorative, sedative tonic, and blood stimulant. Various plant parts were used as a cooling, sedating, diuretic, tonic, and astringent agent to treat nerve disorders. The plant contained tannins, steroids, phytosterols, sitosterol, glycosides, alkaloids, carbohydrates, proteins, and amino acids, as well as saponins, triterpenes, phenolics, flavonoids, benzofuran derivatives, anthocyanins, anthraquinones, glycosides, vitamins, and minerals. Previous pharmacological research identified antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, immunological, analgesic, antipyretic, antioxidant, anti-cancer, antidiabetic, gastrointestinal, respiratory, cardiovascular, hypolipidemic, anti-obesity, dermatological, neurological, muscular, and protecting effects. Bronchial asthma is a prevalent issue with significant medical and economic repercussions. Potassium (K) unbalance is associated with airway hyperreactivity, wheezing, and lung function impairment. Forty patients suffering from bronchial asthma, with regular follow-ups in an asthma clinic of the General Qurna Hospital, were investigated in this study. Each individual was questioned and evaluated clinically. Serum (K+) concentration and asthma severity were measured. The used drugs were documented. The total number of hospitalizations owing to asthma exacerbation was determined for the six months preceding the day of testing serum (K+) level. Nineteen patients (48%) had low K+ levels with a mean of 1.52 ±0.92 mmol L-1, while 21 patients (52%) had normal K levels (4.3±0.21 mmol L-1) (P<0.05). The study found that hypokalemia was common in younger patients (mean aged 22.5±1.3 years) Asthmatics females tend to have a significant of hypokalemia than males (58%) (P<0.05). Remarriage has been approved in Iran's jurisprudence and legal system, but its acceptance in the psychological system of Iranian women's society has faced doubts and created many challenges. Undoubtedly, failure to solve the mentioned challenges has created personal, social, cultural, and economic consequences. This has encouraged the wife to benefit to the condition of not remarrying in the marriage document. Despite this, the validity of the mentioned condition has been damaged and there is a difference of opinion regarding the implementation guarantee of the violation of the condition. The author of this research believes that the mentioned condition is correct in certain circumstances. The dimensions of psychology and the principle of fairness prove that in the same way that the husband has the right to remarry, the wife also has the authority to limit the remarriage of the husband by using the mentioned condition in the correct legal form. The main root of the disputes is the lack of correct methodology and the lack of guarantee of implementation of the violation of the condition of abandoning the legal act in the country's laws. What is important is to explain the desired performance guarantee in a suitable way in such a way that the rights of all parties are preserved. According to the findings of the present research, it seems that considering the many dimensions of the marriage contract, the interdisciplinary methodology is preferable and based on the legal point of view, if the husband violates from the condition, the second marriage of first wife is invalid and cannot be invoked and it is necessary to amend the existing laws.

Abstract The objective of this study focused on the design and preparation of a molecularly modified polycarboxylate superplasticizer to develop concretes with enhanced engineering features. For this purpose, polyethylene glycol was chemically modified with maleic anhydride to give the mono polyethylene glycol maleate (MPEGM). Then, polycarboxylate superplasticizer comprising of isoprenyl oxy polyethylene glycol (TPEG) and acrylic acid (AA, PCE-1), and the synthesized MPEGM with TPEG and AA (PCE-2) were prepared through solution radical polymerization. Subsequently, concrete mixtures with different dosages (0, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25, 0.3 wt%) of PCE-1 and PCE-2 were prepared. Chemical structure of the synthesized MPEGM and superplasticizers together with their copolymer composition were identified by FTIR and 1HNMR analyses. The molecular weights (Mw) and molecular weight distributions (PDI) of PCE-1 (8.74 × 104, 1.36) and PCE-2 (8.74 × 104, 2.19) were studied by GPC analysis, respectively. The zeta potential of cement particles (2.8 mV) becomes negative in the presence of 0.6 g/L of PCE-1 (− 7.8) and PCE-2 (− 9.5). This implies that electrostatic and steric hindrance forces of adsorbed superplasticizers synergistically provide a situation for appropriate dispersion of cement particles. The results of water-reducing percentage, fluidity, air content, bleeding water rate, initial and final setting times, wet density, flexural and compressive properties, and ultrasonic pulse velocity analyses exhibit significant enhancement on the features of concrete mixtures made of polycarboxylate superplasticizer. The superiority of PCE-2 to PCE-1 was connected to its adsorption-dispersibility potent induced by stronger electrostatic and steric repulsion forces, which result in quality and continuity enhancement in concretes.

Abstract Background Dengue fever (DF) is one of the most prevalent arboviral infections worldwide. In Iran, the dengue-positive serological cases as well as the presence of the dengue vector Aedes aegypti have raised health concerns, highlighting the need to enhance the dengue surveillance system. This study aims to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of healthcare professionals (HCPs) regarding dengue fever in a large and high-risk region of southeastern Iran. Methods A total of 492 HCPs were recruited using a multi-stage sampling method from May 2022 to July 2023. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire. Data analysis was done using independent t-tests, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), one-factor and multi-factor general linear models, and simple and multiple regression models. Results About two-thirds (71%) of the participants did not receive any training on DF. A small percentage of participants were familiar with ovitrap (32.6%) and only 21.7% knew that destroying larval breeding sites could not eliminate the dengue vector. The knowledge of disease symptoms among HCPs was found to be lower in border areas compared to non-border areas (P = 0.018). However, the practice situation in HCPs working in border areas was better than in non-borders (P = 0.003). According to the multiple regression model, the most influential factors associated with knowledge, attitude, and practice were the type of healthcare facility and passing the DF training course. Abstract Background Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is defined as acquired cerebral damage caused by an external mechanical impact, which has the potential to lead to transient or enduring debilitation. TBI is associated with many forms of long-lasting psychiatric conditions, including anxiety disorders. As anxiety is highly debilitating by causing impaired social functioning and decreased quality of life for the afflicted, especially in the form of anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder, certain efforts have been made to explore the factors associated with it, and one such factor is TBI. Methods We searched PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science on January 26th, 2024 for observational case–control or cohort or cross-sectional studies assessing the incidence of anxiety symptoms or disorders in patients with TBI compared to healthy individuals or the same individuals if pre-TBI information regarding anxiety was available. We calculated the pooled incidence and relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence interval (95CI) using the inverse variance method. Publication bias was assessed using Eggers’s regression test. Quality assessment was performed using the Newcastle–Ottawa scale. Sub-group analyses were conducted for the type of anxiety (anxiety disorder vs anxiety symptoms), TBI severity, and type of anxiety disorders. Results The incidence rate of anxiety after traumatic brain injury was 17.45% (95CI: 12.59%, 22.31%) in a total of 705,024 individuals. Abstract Calderas are subcircular depressions with near-vertical walls, which are often gravitationally unstable and prone to mass movements that sequentially widen their basins. However, the details of these erosional changes are difficult to decipher due to short observational periods. Here, we use a photogrammetric dataset of nearly 80 years to study the landslide-prone south-eastern wall of Askja caldera (Iceland). We analyzed aerial data from 1945 and 1987, stereo satellite data from 2013 and 2022, and drone images acquired in 2019, 2022, and 2023. We developed an inventory of geomorphological features and identified types of slope instability. We describe over 700 features, including circa 500 fractures, 200 sinkholes, and four major landslides. We found that morphological changes were persistent over the observation period, accumulating in a sector that collapsed in 2014. We discuss various factors of slope instability at Askja including possible volcano-permafrost interaction, and other processes that could induce mass wasting.

Abstract Objective To assess the effectiveness of a modified Lichtenstein Repair combined with Herniorrhaphy in reducing postoperative chronic pain and enhancing recovery and quality of life in inguinal hernia patients. Methods This retrospective study, conducted at the Taleghani training center between January 2021 and February 2023, retrospectively examined 289 hernia surgeries, of which 130 employed a modified Lichtenstein technique. The investigation encompassed a detailed analysis of patient demographics, employed surgical techniques, operative methods with a focus on minimal dissection, and an evaluation of postoperative outcomes. Results In this study of 289 participants, primarily males aged 60–80 years, the modified technique group demonstrated a notably lower incidence of hernia recurrence (1.5%) compared to the Lichtenstein group (3.1%). Additionally, the modified technique was more effective in reducing postoperative pain, with a significantly lower mean Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score of 0.15, compared to 0.31 in the Lichtenstein group. This suggests enhanced patient comfort and a potentially quicker recovery in the modified technique group. Conclusion The modified Lichtenstein hernioplasty technique, characterized by minimal tissue trauma and precise mesh placement, emerges as an effective approach in inguinal hernia repair. It offers significant benefits in reducing postoperative discomfort and chronic pain, thereby enhancing patient recovery and overall quality of life. This method aligns with current surgical trends towards patient-centric and minimally invasive procedures.

Abstract Background The Pharyngeal Endoderm (PE) is an extremely relevant developmental tissue, serving as the progenitor for the esophagus, parathyroids, thyroids, lungs, and thymus. While several studies have highlighted the importance of PE cells, a detailed transcriptional and epigenetic characterization of this important developmental stage is still missing, especially in humans, due to technical and ethical constraints pertaining to its early formation. Results Here we fill this knowledge gap by developing an in vitro protocol for the derivation of PE-like cells from human Embryonic Stem Cells (hESCs) and by providing an integrated multi-omics characterization. Our PE-like cells robustly express PE markers and are transcriptionally homogenous and similar to in vivo mouse PE cells. In addition, we define their epigenetic landscape and dynamic changes in response to Retinoic Acid by combining ATAC-Seq and ChIP-Seq of histone modifications. The integration of multiple high-throughput datasets leads to the identification of new putative regulatory regions and to the inference of a Retinoic Acid-centered transcription factor network orchestrating the development of PE-like cells. Conclusions By combining hESCs differentiation with computational genomics, our work reveals the epigenetic dynamics that occur during human PE differentiation, providing a solid resource and foundation for research focused on the development of PE derivatives and the modeling of their developmental defects in genetic syndromes.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to prioritize the factors affecting consumer-buying behavior in online social media marketing.Method: The analysis and validation of indicators were conducted using the mixed method of structural equation modeling and partial least squares. Additionally, the IPMA matrix was utilized to determine the importance and type of performance of each factor. The research data were influenced by consumer information, predominantly consisting of women with a master's degree aged between 36 and 50 years. The study employed a non-probability sampling method common for online surveys, and 466 individuals were examined using Cohen's effect size formula.Findings: The research findings indicated that consumer engagement was the most important factor, and ease of use exhibited the highest level of performance in the overall social media model. Furthermore, consumer engagement was identified as the most important factor, while electronic word-of-mouth (EWOM) demonstrated the highest performance level on Instagram. Conversely, EWOM was deemed the most important factor, with consumer engagement displaying the highest performance level on Telegram. These results can be utilized by marketers to influence consumer purchasing behavior and craft online marketing strategies accordingly.Conclusion: Companies utilizing online social media platforms are advised to enhance consumer engagement and performance by implementing short-term techniques and effective strategies, such as incorporating online chat functionalities in the user environment. Instagram, being the most widely used social media platform and an online shopping hub for consumers, showcased acceptable performance in terms of consumer engagement. Hence, companies need to take measures to elevate performance levels to match their importance. In the case of Telegram, EWOM emerged as the most crucial factor among others, with a commendable performance rating. Businesses can bolster their Customer Relationship Management (CRM) units and enhance WOM initiatives to the fullest extent possible.

Abstract Glioblastoma is known as an aggressive type of brain tumor with a very poor survival rate and resistance to different treatment methods. Considering the difficulties in studying glioblastoma, the development of alternative methods for the identification of prognostic factors in this disease seems necessary. Noteworthy, imaging, pathologic, and molecular data obtained from patients are highly valuable because of their potential for this purpose. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a powerful tool to perform highly accurate analyses and extract more detailed information from available patient data. AI is usually used for the development of prediction models for prognosis, response/resistance to treatments, and subtype identification in cancers. Today, the number of AI-aided developed algorithms is increasing in the field of glioblastoma. Challenges in the diagnosis of tumors using imaging data, prediction of genetic alterations, and prediction of overall survival are among the most popular studies related to glioblastoma. Hereby, we reviewed peer-reviewed articles in which AI methods were used for various targets in glioblastoma. Reviewing the published articles showed that the use of clinical imaging data is reasonably more popular than other assessments because of its noninvasive nature. However, the use of molecular assessments is becoming extended in this disease. In this regard, we summarized the developed algorithms and their applications for the diagnosis and prognosis of glioblastoma tumors. We also considered the accuracy rates of algorithms to shed light on the advancements of different methodologies in the included studies.

Abstract The nonspecific nature of cancer drug delivery often results in substantial toxic side effects during treatments for breast cancer. To mitigate these negative outcomes, our approach involves loading methotrexate (MTX) within carbon quantum dots (CQDs) synthesized from folic acid, which are then enveloped in exosomal membranes obtained from breast cancer cells (Ex@MTX-CQDs). Analysis utilizing nanoparticle tracking techniques has demonstrated that these Ex@MTX-CQDs maintain the physical and biochemical properties of their exosomal precursors. The release profile of MTX indicated a restricted release percentage (less than 10%) under normal physiological conditions, which is contrasted by a more consistent release rate (approximately 65%) when emulating the conditions found within tumor tissues. The toxicological assessments have confirmed that the presence of exosomes combined with leftover folic acid significantly improves the delivery efficacy of MTX directly to the cancerous cells through the binding to folate and heparan sulfate proteoglycan receptors. This process results in increased disruption of the mitochondrial membrane potential and subsequently triggers apoptosis, ultimately leading to the destruction of cancerous cells. Our research could potentially contribute to the further innovation and application of nanocarriers derived from biological sources for the targeted treatment of breast cancer.
