Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most lethal and common primary tumor of central nervous system with a poor prognosis. Glioma stem cells (GSCs) are particularly significant in GBM proliferation, invasion, self-renewal and recurrence. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in various physiological and pathological processes, including regulating the biological behavior of GBM. Therefore, discovering novel circRNAs related to GSCs may contribute to a promising approach for treatment of GBM. Herein, we find out a novel circRNA termed circZEB1 with a high expression in glioma. Limb-bud and heart (LBH) is a transcription cofactor and promotes glioma stem cell tumorigenicity in our study. Mechanistically, circZEB1 can upregulate the expression of transcription cofactor LBH via sponging miR-128-3p in GSCs. LBH can facilitate the expression of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), thus activating the NF-κB signaling pathway to promote the glioma progression. Meanwhile, LBH can also upregulate the RNA binding protein Fused in Sarcoma (FUS) expression, which can bind to and maintain the stability of circZEB1. A positive feedback loop is formed among FUS, circZEB1, miR-128-3p and LBH in GSCs. Our study uncovers a critical role of circZEB1 and provides a novel biomarker for treating GBM. Background: Heart failure with improved ejection fraction (HFimpEF) has been regarded as a new heart failure (HF) type in 2022. However, studies on the impact of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) trajectories on the prognosis of patients with HFimpEF are scarce. In this study, we investigated dynamic trajectories of LVEF and different clinical outcomes in HFimpEF. Methods and results: This was a multi-center study included patients diagnosed with HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) between January 1, 2015, and October 31, 2022. Enrolled patients were divided into HFimpEF and persistent HFrEF groups. To further investigate different LVEF trajectories in HFimpEF patients, they were classified into persistent HFimpEF and transient HFimpEF subgroups. Adverse clinical outcomes encompassed all-cause death, cardiovascular death, and HF-related rehospitalization. A total of 734 patients were included (HFimpEF: n = 162; persistent HFrEF: n = 572). Cox regression analysis revealed that compared with persistent HFrEF, patients with HFimpEF experienced a lower risk of all-cause and cardiovascular death. Subgroup analysis determined that only 113 (69.75%) patients maintained an LVEF exceeding 40%. Cox regression analysis revealed that persistent HFimpEF patients had a lower risk of all-cause and cardiovascular death compared to those with transient HFimpEF. Finally, multivariate logistic analysis showed that gender and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were independent predictors of persistent HFimpEF. Conclusions: HFimpEF does not accurately represent HF recovery, given that there are different trajectories of LVEF in HFimpEF. Patients with persistent HFimpEF experience better clinical outcomes, highlighting clinicians should identify clinical modifiable factors to maintain a stable HF stage for better prognosis. N-polar GaN film was obtained by using a high-temperature AlN buffer layer. It was found that the polarity could be inverted by a thin low-temperature AlN interlayer with the same V/III ratio as that of the high-temperature AlN layer. Continuing to increase the V/III ratio of the low-temperature AlN interlayer, the Ga-polarity of GaN film was inverted to N-polarity again but the crystal quality and surface roughness of GaN film greatly deteriorated. Anchoring groups play an important role in the assembly of functional molecules onto semiconductor substrates for dye‐sensitized photocatalysis. In addition to directly influencing the adsorption stability, anchoring groups significantly impact the efficiency of electron or hole injection into the substrate, which is a crucial step for photocatalytic reactions. Most reported dye‐sensitized photocatalytic systems, including semiconductor nanoparticles and photoelectrochemical cells, are prepared using the carboxylic or phosphonic acid anchors. The systems prepared with these conventional anchors usually suffer from low adsorption stability in aqueous media. Alternatively, pyridine has emerged as an anchoring group of photosensitizers and molecular catalysts in the construction of photocatalytic systems. The resulting semiconductor nanoparticles and photoelectrodes show superior adsorption stability in aqueous media, providing a simple and efficient way to sensitize the metal or metal oxide substrate. This review focuses on the recent advances of such a pyridine anchoring strategy in the assembly of photosensitizers and molecular catalysts for photocatalytic applications, mainly including photocatalytic water oxidation, reduction, and splitting. The further exploration and understanding of the pyridine‐anchoring method are believed to boost the development of advanced dye‐sensitized photocatalytic devices and technologies. The emergence of sophisticated AI tools such as ChatGPT, coupled with the transition to remote delivery of educational assessments in the COVID‐19 era, has led to increasing concerns about academic integrity and test security. Using AI tools, test takers can produce high‐quality texts effortlessly and use them to game assessments. It is thus critical to detect these nonauthentic texts to ensure test integrity. In this study, we leveraged keystroke logs—recordings of every keypress—to build machine learning (ML) detectors of nonauthentic texts in a large‐scale writing assessment. We focused on investigating the fairness of the detectors across demographic subgroups to ensure that nongenuine writing can be predicted equally well across subgroups. Results indicated that keystroke dynamics were effective in identifying nonauthentic texts. While the ML models were slightly more likely to misclassify the original responses submitted by male test takers as consisting of nonauthentic texts than those submitted by females, the effect sizes were negligible. Furthermore, balancing demographic distributions and class labels did not consistently mitigate detector bias across predictive models. Findings of this study not only provide implications for using behavioral data to address test security issues, but also highlight the importance of evaluating the fairness of predictive models in educational contexts. Background: Aberrant accumulation of R-loops leads to DNA damage, genome instability and even cell death. Therefore, the timely removal of harmful R-loops is essential for the maintenance of genome integrity. Nucleolar R-loops occupy up to 50% of cellular R-loops due to the frequent activation of Pol I transcription. However, the mechanisms involved in the nucleolar R-loop resolution remain elusive. The nucleolar acetyltransferase NAT10 harbors a putative RecD helicase domain (RHD), however, if NAT10 acts in the R-loop resolution is still unknown. Methods: NAT10 knockdown cell lines were constructed using CRISPR/Cas9 technology and short hairpin RNA targeting NAT10 mRNA, respectively. The level of R-loops was detected by immunofluorescent staining combined with RNase H treatment. The helicase activity of NAT10 or DDX21 was determined by in vitro helicase experiment. The interaction between NAT10 and DDX21 was verified by co-immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescent staining and GST pull-down experiments. Acetylation sites of DDX21 by NAT10 were analyzed by mass spectrometry. NAT10 knockdown-induced DNA damage was evaluated by immunofluorescent staining and Western blot detecting γH2AX. Results: Depletion of NAT10 led to the accumulation of nucleolar R-loops. NAT10 resolves R-loops through an RHD in vitro and in cells. However, Flag-NAT10 ∆RHD mutant still partially reduced R-loop levels in the NAT10-depleted cells, suggesting that NAT10 might resolve R-loops through additional pathways. Further, the acetyltransferase activity of NAT10 is required for the nucleolar R-loop resolution. NAT10 acetylates DDX21 at K236 and K573 to enhance the helicase activity of DDX21 to unwind nucleolar R-loops. The helicase activity of DDX21 significantly decreased by Flag-DDX21 2KR and increased by Flag-DDX21 2KQ in cells and in vitro. Consequently, NAT10 depletion-induced nucleolar R-loop accumulation led to DNA damage, which was rescued by co-expression of Flag-DDX21 2KQ and Flag-NAT10 G641E, demonstrating that NAT10 resolves nucleolar R-loops through bipartite pathways. Conclusion: We demonstrate that NAT10 is a novel R-loop resolvase and it resolves nucleolar R-loops depending on its helicase activity and acetylation of DDX21. Background: Painful temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is the common cause of chronic oro‐facial pain, which may interfere with sleep. Previous studies have documented an association between sleep and TMD. Objectives: This study aimed to further explore the association of night‐time sleep and daytime napping with painful TMD. Methods: A total of 419 patients (aged 31.88 ± 11.54 years with women forming 85.4%) from a TMD/Orofacial Pain center were enrolled. Patients' sleep conditions were evaluated with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire, and information on night‐time sleep duration, napping duration and napping frequency was interviewed. TMD was diagnosed according to the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD protocol and stratified into myalgia (muscle pain), arthralgia (joint pain) and combined (muscle and joint pain) subgroups. The severity of TMD was measured with the Fonseca Anamnestic Index (FAI) questionnaire. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) regression models were established to explore relationships between sleep and painful TMD subgroups. Results: Patients with poor sleep quality (PSQI≥6) had higher FAI scores (median 60, p <.001) and higher proportions of painful TMDs. The myalgia subgroup had higher PSQI scores (median 8, p <.001) than the arthralgia subgroup. The RCS models indicated a non‐linear relationship between night‐time sleep duration and myalgia (p <.001), which was not observed in arthralgia. However, there were no significant findings concerning napping and painful TMD subgroups. Many coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) positive individuals exhibit abnormal electroencephalographic (EEG) activity reflecting "brain fog" and mild cognitive impairments even months after the acute phase of infection. Resting‐state EEG abnormalities include EEG slowing (reduced alpha rhythm; increased slow waves) and epileptiform activity. An expert panel conducted a systematic review to present compelling evidence that cognitive deficits due to COVID‐19 and to Alzheimer's disease and related dementia (ADRD) are driven by overlapping pathologies and neurophysiological abnormalities. EEG abnormalities seen in COVID‐19 patients resemble those observed in early stages of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly ADRD. It is proposed that similar EEG abnormalities in Long COVID and ADRD are due to parallel neuroinflammation, astrocyte reactivity, hypoxia, and neurovascular injury. These neurophysiological abnormalities underpinning cognitive decline in COVID‐19 can be detected by routine EEG exams. Future research will explore the value of EEG monitoring of COVID‐19 patients for predicting long‐term outcomes and monitoring efficacy of therapeutic interventions. Highlights: Abnormal intrinsic electrophysiological brain activity, such as slowing of EEG, reduced alpha wave, and epileptiform are characteristic findings in COVID‐19 patients. EEG abnormalities have the potential as neural biomarkers to identify neurological complications at the early stage of the disease, to assist clinical assessment, and to assess cognitive decline risk in Long COVID patients.Similar slowing of intrinsic brain activity to that of COVID‐19 patients is typically seen in patients with mild cognitive impairments, ADRD. This paper reports a non-recessed normally off AlGaN/GaN high-electron-mobility transistor (HEMT) with a charge trapping gate dielectric stack. The charge trapping gate dielectric stack featuring a low density of fixed positive charges consists of an O3-based Al2O3 tunneling layer and an O3-based HfO2 blocking layer, both deposited via atomic layer deposition. For HEMT with a 15 nm AlGaN barrier layer, a threshold voltage of 2.57 V and an on-resistance of 8.50 Ω × mm are achieved. For positive bias temperature instability (PBTI) testing, the electric field provided by the 15 nm AlGaN layer serves as a barrier to channel carriers, significantly enhancing the PBTI test stability. The optimized gate dielectric stack enables the fabrication of the non-recessed normally off metal–insulator–semiconductor-HEMT with enhanced threshold voltage (Vth) stability. Disulfidptosis, the newest form of programmed cell death, is closely associated with the immune microenvironment of cancer cells. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) has also been found to play a crucial role in melanoma. However, the role of disulfidptosis-related lncRNA in melanoma remains unclear. Through bioinformatic analysis of the transcriptional, clinical, and pathological data from the TCGA-SKCM (The Cancer Genome Atlas—Skin cutaneous melanoma) database, we established a 2-Disulfidptosis-related lncRNA (DRL) prognostic model and a novel molecular subtype for melanoma. The survival and ROC curves of the 2-DRL prognostic model demonstrated its strong efficacy in predicting the prognosis of melanoma. The high-risk group of melanoma exhibited a significant decrease in ESTIMATEScore, ImmuneScore, and StromalScore, indicative of pronounced immune suppression and exhaustion. Subgroup C2 of melanoma displayed an immune-activated state, while subgroups C1 and C3 showed immune suppression and exhaustion, potentially leading to poorer prognosis. Subgroup C1 demonstrated better sensitivity to Zoledronate, UMI-77, Nilotinib, and Cytarabine. Subgroup C2 exhibited greater sensitivity to Ribociclib, XAV939, Topotecan, and Ruxolitinib. Subgroup C3 showed higher sensitivity to VX-11e, Ulixertinib, Trametinib, and Afatinib. This study revealed the immune microenvironment status and targeted drug sensitivity in melanoma patients with different risk scores and molecular subtypes, offering valuable guidance for clinical treatment and identifying significant DRL targets for future in-depth research. This study presents a β-Ga2O3 Schottky barrier diode (SBD) with a Mg current blocking layer (Mg-CBL) fabricated via the Mg-doped spin-on-glass (Mg-SOG) technique, affording a surface roughness damage-free thermal doping process. The proposed technique improves the breakdown voltage (BV) of the β-Ga2O3 SBD from 580 to 2200 V and marginally increases the specific on-resistance from 4.0 to 4.8 mΩ cm2, yielding a notable power figure of merit exceeding 1 GW/cm2. The Mg-CBL effectively captures the electrons and mitigates the electric field, leading to a significant increase in BV and slight decrease in the forward current loss. The temperature-dependent I–V curves reveal that the reverse saturation current decreases owing to the physical mechanism of the Mg-CBL structure. Moreover, the Gaussian distribution model is applied to correct the Schottky barrier inhomogeneity stemming from the Mg-CBL. Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a kind of myocardial disease that occurs in diabetes patients and cannot be explained by hypertensive heart disease, coronary atherosclerotic heart disease and other heart diseases. Its pathogenesis may be closely related to programmed cell death, oxidative stress, intestinal microbes and micro-RNAs. The excessive activation of mineralocorticoid receptors (MR) in DCM can cause damage to the heart and kidneys. The third-generation non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA), finerenone, can effectively block MR, thus playing a role in protecting the heart and kidneys. This review mainly introduces the classification of MRA, and the mechanism of action, applications and limitations of finerenone in DCM, in order to provide reference for the study of treatment plans for DCM patients. This paper presents a pyrotechnic-driven large flexible expansion mechanism for aerospace applications, where a flexible link is added to the mechanism to enhance its high speed performance. To evaluate the impact of adding a flexible link on the high-speed motion of a mechanism, and to study the coupling relationship between the pyrotechnic drive and the dynamics of the mechanism, the rigid-flexible coupling dynamics model of the transient mechanism of expansion is established by using the absolute nodal coordinate formulation, and the dynamics model containing gunpowder combustion is established based on the internal ballistics, and then both of them are systematically coupled to solve the problem. The results of the dynamics simulation of the mechanism part show that the flexibility of the mechanism greatly improves the running speed at the same time reduces the hinge force, and the higher the running speed, the more obvious the enhancement effect; Then, simulation results of the overall dynamics containing pyrotechnic drive shows that the pyrotechnic drive input force of the mechanism with the pyrotechnic drive is coupled with the motion process of the mechanism, and the output force of the pyrotechnic drive needs to be coupled with the mechanism for the coupling calculations to obtain a more accurate output force of the pyrotechnic drive. Finally, commercial software simulation and electric actuator expansion experiments were designed to verify the dynamics of the institutional part, and pyrotechnic drive mechanism expansion experiments were designed to verify the coupled dynamics of pyrotechnic-driven large flexible expansion mechanism, and the results showed that the institutional dynamics and the coupled dynamics of the system had good accuracy. Alginate fibers made from seaweed have some desirable properties as textile materials, but they also have two shortcomings that limit their usages: they are intolerant to salt, alkali, and detergent, and they are difficult to dye due to the electrostatic repulsion with anionic dyes. To solve the two problems in this project, a process of successive modification of alginate fibers using sodium pyrophosphate, alum, and sodium hydroxide was developed. SEM images and ion content of the modified alginate fibers showed that the fibers did not dissolve in high concentrations of sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, or standard detergent solution and still maintained their original morphology. Also, the results of FTIR, XPS, XRD, and single-fiber strength tests indicated that the modification process enabled the alginate fibers to form a new tetrahydroxy cross-linking structure and thus improved their mechanical properties. The tetrahydroxy cross-linking structure prevented the dissolution of alginate fibers by blocking the exchange of ions between the fibers and the solution. Besides, the presence of Al3+ in the tetrahydroxy cross-linking structure modified the electrostatic repulsion between the alginate fiber and the anionic dye, resulting in high dyeing and dye fixation rates. Thus, the modified alginate fiber can be dyed directly with common dyes without dissolution, solving the above-mentioned two problems. In this work, the DC performance and RF characteristics of GaN-based high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) using the SiNx stress-engineered technique were systematically investigated. It was observed that a significant reduction in the peak electric field and an increase in the effective barrier thickness in the devices with compressive SiNx passivation contributed to the suppression of Fowler–Nordheim (FN) tunneling. As a result, the gate leakage decreased by more than an order of magnitude, and the breakdown voltage (BV) increased from 44 V to 84 V. Moreover, benefiting from enhanced gate control capability, the devices with compressive stress SiNx passivation showed improved peak transconductance from 315 mS/mm to 366 mS/mm, along with a higher cutoff frequency (ft) and maximum oscillation frequency (fmax) of 21.15 GHz and 35.66 GHz, respectively. Due to its enhanced frequency performance and improved pinch-off characteristics, the power performance of the devices with compressive stress SiNx passivation was markedly superior to that of the devices with stress-free SiNx passivation. These results confirm the substantial potential of the SiNx stress-engineered technique for high-frequency and high-output power applications, which are crucial for future communication systems. Purpose: This study aimed to assess the predictive efficacy of intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI) and dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in parametrial invasion (PMI) in cervical cancer patients. Methods: A total of 83 cervical cancer patients (32 PMI-positive and 51 PMI-negative) retrospectively underwent pretreatment IVIM-DWI and DCE-MRI scans. IVIM-DWI parameters included apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), slow apparent diffusion coefficient (D), fast apparent diffusion coefficient (D*), and perfusion fraction (f). DCE-MRI parameters included volume transfer constant (Ktrans), flux rate constant (Kep), and fractional extravascular extracellular space volume (Ve). Logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify independent variables associated with PMI. Receiver operating characteristic curves were generated to assess the predictive performance of significant parameters. Results: Multivariable analysis revealed that the MRI parameters D (odds ratio [OR]: 7.05; 95% CI 1.78–27.88; P = 0.005), D* (OR 6.58; 95% CI 1.49–29.10; P = 0.01), f (OR 5.12; 95% CI 1.23–21.37; P = 0.03), Ktrans (OR 4.60; 95% CI 1.19–17.81; P = 0.03), and Kep (OR 4.90; 95% CI 1.25–19.18; P = 0.02) were independent predictors of PMI in cervical cancer patients. The combined parameter incorporating these parameters demonstrated the highest performance in predicting PMI, yielding an area under the curve of 0.906, sensitivity of 84.4%, and specificity of 86.3%. Lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) is highly expressed in various tumors. However, the role of LDHA in the pathogenesis of B‐cell lymphoma remains unclear. Analysis of data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Genotype‐Tissue Expression (GTEx) databases revealed an elevated LDHA expression in diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (DLBC) tissues compared with normal tissues. Similarly, our results demonstrated a significant increase in LDHA expression in tumor tissues from the patients with B‐cell lymphoma compared with those with lymphadenitis. To further elucidate potential roles of LDHA in B‐cell lymphoma pathogenesis, we silenced LDHA in the Raji cells (a B‐cell lymphoma cell line) using shRNA techniques. Silencing LDHA led to reduced mitochondrial membrane integrity, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, glycolytic activity, cell viability and invasion. Notably, LDHA knockdown substantially suppressed in vivo growth of Raji cells and extended survival in mice bearing lymphoma (Raji cells). Moreover, proteomic analysis identified feline sarcoma‐related protein (FER) as a differential protein positively associated with LDHA expression. Treatment with E260, a FER inhibitor, significantly reduced the metabolism, proliferation and invasion of Raji cells. In summary, our findings highlight that LDHA plays multiple roles in B‐cell lymphoma pathogenesis via FER pathways, establishing LDHA/FER may as a potential therapeutic target. Three monoruthenium complexes 1(PF6)2–3(PF6)2 bearing an N(CH3)-bridged ligand have been synthesized and characterized. These complexes have a general formula of [Ru(bpy)2(L)](PF6)2, where L is a 2,5-di(N-methyl-N’-(pyrid-2-yl)amino)pyrazine (dapz) derivative with various substituents, and bpy is 2,2′-bipyridine. The photophysical and electrochemical properties of these compounds have been examined. The solid-state structure of complex 3(PF6)2 is studied by single-crystal X-ray analysis. These complexes show two well-separated emission bands centered at 451 and 646 nm (Δλmax = 195 nm) for 1(PF6)2, 465 and 627 nm (Δλmax = 162 nm) for 2(PF6)2, and 455 and 608 nm (Δλmax = 153 nm) for 3(PF6)2 in dilute acetonitrile solution, respectively. The emission maxima of the higher-energy emission bands of these complexes are similar, while the lower-energy emission bands are dependent on the electronic nature of substituents. These complexes display two consecutive redox couples owing to the stepwise oxidation of the N(CH3)-bridged ligand and ruthenium component. Moreover, these experimental observations are analyzed by computational investigation.
