Clear cell meningioma (CCM) is a rare histological variant of meningioma. It is commonly located at the cerebellopontine angle and the spine particularly around the cauda equina. Squash cytology finding of meningioma is well‐established, however there is sparse literature available on squash cytology of CCM. Here we describe a case of CCM occurring in the lumbar spine in a young woman. Initially, on squash cytology a diagnosis of a low grade glioma favouring an ependymoma was considered. Eventually histopathological examination along with immunohistochemistry helped us reach the diagnosis of a CCM. In this article we discuss the cytomorphology of CCM along with its cytological differentials and the hurdles to an accurate diagnosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background : Balloon angioplasty (BA) for aortic coarctation in neonates and infants remains controversial due to high recurrence rate and vascular complications. Aim : This study aimed to determine the safety and outcome of percutaneous treatment of coarctation in neonates and infants and to share the initial experience of strategy of prepartial dilatation with high-pressure noncomplaint balloon before final targeted dilatation using low-pressure compliant balloon. Materials and Methods : Retrospective analysis of records of all neonates and infants aged <6 months who underwent BA either using only low-pressure balloon (Group A) or those with prepartial dilatation using high-pressure noncomplaint balloon followed by low-pressure compliant balloon (Group B) between July 2017 and February 2020 was performed. Demographic, clinical, echocardiographic, interventional, and follow-up data were collected for all. Results : A total of 51 patients (41.2% neonates) were included in the study. Median age was 1 month 14 days (60.8% girls) and mean weight was 3.6 ± 1.5 kg. The mean peak trans-coarctation gradient was 53 ± 12 (34-80) mmHg. The final pressure gradient dropped to <10 mmHg in all cases of Group B and only in 26.3% (5) patients of Group A (P < 0.001). Recoarctation rate was 25.5% (13) overall and was significantly higher in Group A patients (P < 0.001), in those with borderline/mildly hypoplastic arch (P = 0.04) and in those with postprocedure gradient between 10 and 20 mmHg (P = 0.02). Median time to re-coarctation was significantly delayed in Group B (P < 0.001). There were no major complications or mortality in either group. Conclusions : BA in neonates and young infants has an excellent short and mid-term safety and efficacy. Sodium (Na) and arsenic (As) toxicity were monitored by hyperaccumulation of metals in Salvinia natans L. with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) induction. Salvinia was recorded with significant bioaccumulation of those metals with de-folding of cellular attributes in sustenance under toxic environment. 2,4-D priming has revised the growth components like net assimilation rate and relative water content to register initial plants' survival against Na and As. Proline biosynthesis supported in the maintenance of osmotic adjustment and plants sustained better activity through subdued electrolytic leakage. Oxidative stress due to both Na and As exposure is responsible for induction under significant moderation of lipid peroxidation and protein carbonization by 2,4-D application was evident to release the stress from metal and metalloids. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) like superoxide and hydrogen peroxide accumulation were monitored with activity of NADP(H)-oxidase. However, it was downregulated by 2,4-D to check the oxidative damages. Superoxide dismutase and peroxidases were significantly moderated to reduce the oxidative degradation for both metals with 2,4-D induction. Glutathione metabolism and recycling of ascorbate with monodehydroascorbate activity were other features to maintain the redox homeostasis for metal toxicity. At the molecular level, polymorphic variations of concern genes in redox cascades demarked significantly for those two metals and established the biomarker for those metals, respectively. As a whole, the biocompatibility of auxin herbicide in Salvinia may raise the possibility for auxin metabolism and thereby, the bioaccumulation to Na and As vis-à-vis tolerance for ecological safety is established. Capsicum is one of the most perishable fruit which undergo rapid loss of commercial value during postharvest storage. In this experiment our aim is to evaluate the effect of photoactivated TiO2 nano-particle complexed with chitosan or TiO2-nanocomposite (TiO2-NC) on extension self-life of Capsicum fruit and its effect on related morphological, physiological and molecular attributes at room temperature (25 °C). Initially, TiO2-NC coated fruits recorded superior maintenance of total soluble solids accumulation along with retention of firmness, cellular integrity, hydration, color etc. On the extended period of storage, fruit recorded a lower bioaccumulation of TiO2 in comparison to metallic silver over the control. On the level of gene expression for ethylene biosynthetic and signaling the TiO2-NC had more regulation, however, discretely to moderate the ripening. Thus, ACC synthase and oxidase recorded a significantly better downregulation as studied from fruit pulp under TiO2-NC than silver. On the signaling path, the transcripts for CaETR1 and CaETR2 were less abundant in fruit under both the treatment when studied against control for 7 d. The reactive oxygen species (ROS) was also correlated to retard the oxidative lysis of polyamine oxidation by diamine and polyamine oxidase activity. The gene expression for hydrolytic activity as non-specific esterase had corroborated the development of essential oil constituents with few of those recorded in significant abundance. Therefore, TiO2-NC would be reliable to induce those metabolites modulating ripening behavior in favor of delayed ripening. From gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis profile of all tested essential oil constituents suggesting positive impact of TiO2-NC on shelf-life extension of Capsicum fruit. Our results indicated the potentiality of TiO2-NC in postharvest storage those may connect ethylene signaling and ROS metabolism in suppression of specific ripening attributes. Artificial micro/nanomachines have been envisioned and demonstrated as potential candidates for targeted drug or gene delivery, cell manipulation, environmental and biological sensing and in lab on chip applications. Here, we have used helical nanomachines to measure the local rheological properties of a viscoelastic media. The position of the helical nanomachine/nanopropeller was controlled precisely using magnetic fields with simultaneous measurements of the mechanical properties of a complex and heterogeneous fluidic environment. We demonstrated that the motion of the helical nanopropeller is extremely sensitive to fluid elasticity and the speed of propulsion of the nanopropeller can be used as a measure of the local elastic relaxation time. Taken together, we report a promising new technique of mapping the rheological properties by helical nanopropellers with very high spatial and temporal resolutions, with performance superior to existing techniques of passive or active microrheology. Mebendazole (MBZ), a benzimidazole anthelmintic and cytoskeleton-disrupting compound, exhibits antitumor properties; however, its action on ovarian cancer (OC) is not clearly understood. This study evaluates the effect of MBZ on OC cell lines OVCAR3 and OAW42, focusing on cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and cancer stemness. The underlying mechanisms, including cytoskeletal disruption, epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), and signaling pathways, were explored. MBZ inhibited OVCAR3 and OAW42 cell proliferation in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Additionally, MBZ significantly impedes migration, spheroid invasion, colony formation, and stemness. In addition, it reduced actin polymerization and down-regulated CSC markers (e.g., CD24, CD44, EpCAM). Moreover, MBZ suppressed MMP-9 activity and inhibited the EMT marker as judged by decreased N-Cadherin and Vimentin and increased E-Cadherin. Furthermore, MBZ induced G2/M cell cycle arrest by modulating Cyclin B1, CDC25C, and WEE1. Also, it triggered apoptosis by disrupting mitochondrial membrane potential. Mechanistic studies revealed a significant downregulation of Girdin, an Akt modulator, along with reduced p-Akt, p-IKKα/β, and p-NF-κB, indicating MBZ's novel mechanism of action through the Girdin-mediated Akt/IKKα/β/NF-κB signaling axis. Thus, by targeting Girdin, MBZ presents a promising repurposed therapeutic strategy to inhibit cancer cell proliferation and metastasis in ovarian cancer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The goal of this work was to develop a reliable method to produce the well-validated microglial activation PET tracer, [18F]DPA-714, routinely for clinical and preclinical research using an IBA Synthera®. Optimization of literature methods included reduced precursor mass and use of TBA HCO 3 as the phase transfer agent in place of Kryptofix® 222 in a 65-min synthesis with an average activity yield of 24.6 ± 3.8% (n = 5). Successful quality control testing and process validation results are reported. • An IND-approved method for production of [18F]DPA-714 on an IBA Synthera® is reported. • Reduction of precursor mass and replacement of Kryptofix® 222 as phase transfer agent support production of tracer in reliable quantities for clinical research. • Justification of 5% injected ethanol in pediatric PET tracer preparations was outlined.
