Abstract

The standard $��$ Cold Dark Matter cosmological model provides a wonderful fit to current cosmological data, but a few tensions and anomalies became statistically significant with the latest data analyses. While these anomalies could be due to the presence of systematic errors in the experiments, they could also indicate the need for new physics beyond the standard model. In this Letter of Interest we focus on the tension of the Planck data with weak lensing measurements and redshift surveys, about the value of the matter energy density $��_m$, and the amplitude or rate of the growth of structure ($��_8,f��_8$). We list a few interesting models for solving this tension, and we discuss the importance of trying to fit with a single model a full array of data and not just one parameter at a time., Snowmass2021 - Letter of Interest

Abstract

In this paper we present a generic form of the cosmological Equation of State derived from the formalism of Statistical Mechanics, assuming that a cosmic acceleration scenario can be interpreted as a system of quasi-particles. By considering a generalised superfluidity approach, in which the energy spectrum can be modulated via a parameter $s$, a negative equation of state arises as excitations associated with an \textit{exotic} superfluid system. We show that for $s\sim 0.293$, $w\simeq-1$, which can be related to the standard equation of state for the $��$CDM model., 5 pages, 1 figure

Abstract

In light of the statistical performance of cosmological observations, in this work we present the cosmography in f (T, B) gravity. In this scenario we found a cosmological viable standard case that allows the reduction of the degeneracy between several f (T, B) models already proposed in the literature. Furthermore, we constrain this model using Pantheon SNeIa compilation, cosmic chronometers and a newly GRB calibrated data sample. We found that with an appropriate strategy for including the cosmographic parameter, we do produce a viable cosmology with our model within f (T, B) gravity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In this paper, we will present a Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati stable model in order to perform an observational test using $H(z)$ data and radial BAO scale in the galaxy distribution. In this vein, we study the tension between constraints on the cosmological constant $\Lambda$ and the crossover scale $r_c$, which is associated with the DGP model. Abstract

In this work we present a further investigation about teleparallel gravity cosmology. We demonstrate that according to the current astrophysical data (CC + Pantheon + BAO samplers with late Universe measurements SH0ES + H0LiCOW), an f(T, B) theory can provide another interpretation to the oscillatory behaviour of the dark energy equation of state when applied to late times. The four f(T, B) cosmological viable models proposed here can undergo an epoch of late-time acceleration and reproduce quintessence and phantom regimes with a transition along the phantom-divided line, making this theory a good approach to modify the standard ΛCDM model. Abstract

The open problems related to cosmological tensions in current times have opened new paths to study new probes to constrain cosmological parameters in standard and extended cosmologies, in particular, to determine at a local level the value of the Hubble constant H 0 , through independent techniques. However, while standard Cosmological Constant Cold Dark Matter (Λ CDM) model has been well constrained and parts of extended cosmology have been intensively studied, the physics behind them aspects restrains our possibilities of selecting the best cosmological model that can show a significant difference from the first model. Therefore, to explore a possible deviation from a such model that can explain the current discrepancy on the H 0 value, in this work we consider adding the current local observables, e.g. Supernovae Type Ia (SNIa), H (z) measurements, and Baryon Acoustic Observations (BAO) combined with two new calibrated Quasars (QSO) datasets using ultraviolet, x-ray and optical plane techniques. While these can be identified as part of the high-redshift standard candle objects, the main characteristics of these are based on fluxes distributions calibrated up to z ∼ 7. We consider five H 0 prior scenarios to develop these calibrations. Furthermore, we found that our estimations provide the possibility to relax the H 0 tension at 2 σ using a QSO ultraviolet sample in combination with late measurements showing higher values of H 0. Our results can be an initial start for more serious treatments in the quasars physics from ultraviolet, x-ray, and optical plane techniques behind the local observations as cosmological probes to relax the cosmological tensions problems. Also, we consider the presence of interparticle interactions in order to study more realistic and specific scenarios. The modified free velocity expansion of the condensate leads in a natural way to a modification of the uncertainty principle, which allows us to investigate some possible features of the Planck scale regime in low-energy earth-based experiments., 7 pages, 2 figures

Abstract

We discuss the analogy between a classical scalar field with a self-interacting potential, in a curved spacetime described by a quasi--bounded state, and a trapped Bose-Einstein condensate. In this context, we compare the Klein-Gordon equation with the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. Moreover, the introduction of a curved background spacetime endows, in a natural way, an equivalence to the Gross-Pitaevskii equation with an explicit confinement potential. The curvature also induces a position dependent self-interaction parameter. We exploit this analogy by means of the Thomas-Fermi approximation, commonly used to describe the Bose-Einstein condensate, in order to analyze the quasi bound scalar field distribution surrounding a black hole., 17 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

We explore the viability of three models in f (T , B) gravity using data from recent surveys based on cosmic chronometers, the Pantheon data set, and baryonic acoustic oscillation data. We also assess the consistency of these models and data set combinations with two important priors on the Hubble constant coming from the SH0ES Team and measurements using the tip of the red giant branch respectively. These give the highest and lowest values of the Hubble constant coming from cosmology independent studies. In general, our analysis does provide a more consistent fit for the late time data being analysed. However, each model does include an additional model parameter in comparison with the concordance model. We close the analysis with a comparative analysis in which each model, data set and Hubble constant prior combination are cross-analysed against each other. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

E. Abdalla, G. F. Abellán, A. Aboubrahim et al., The standard Λ Cold Dark Matter (ΛCDM) cosmological model provides a good description of a wide range of astrophysical and cosmological data. However, there are a few big open questions that make the standard model look like an approximation to a more realistic scenario yet to be found. In this paper, we list a few important goals that need to be addressed in the next decade, taking into account the current discordances between the different cosmological probes, such as the disagreement in the value of the Hubble constant H0, the σ8–S8 tension, and other less statistically significant anomalies. While these discordances can still be in part the result of systematic errors, their persistence after several years of accurate analysis strongly hints at cracks in the standard cosmological scenario and the necessity for new physics or generalisations beyond the standard model. In this paper, we focus on the 5.0σ tension between the Planck CMB estimate of the Hubble constant H0 and the SH0ES collaboration measurements. After showing the H0 evaluations made from different teams using different methods and geometric calibrations, we list a few interesting new physics models that could alleviate this tension and discuss how the next decade's experiments will be crucial. Moreover, we focus on the tension of the Planck CMB data with weak lensing measurements and redshift surveys, about the value of the matter energy density Ωm, and the amplitude or rate of the growth of structure (σ8, fσ8). We list a few interesting models proposed for alleviating this tension, and we discuss the importance of trying to fit a full array of data with a single model and not just one parameter at a time. Additionally, we present a wide range of other less discussed anomalies at a statistical significance level lower than the H0–S8 tensions which may also constitute hints towards new physics, and we discuss possible generic theoretical approaches that can collectively explain the non-standard nature of these signals. Abstract

The standard Lambda Cold Dark Matter cosmological model provides an amazing description of a wide range of astrophysical and astronomical data. However, there are a few big open questions, that make the standard model look like a first-order approximation to a more realistic scenario that still needs to be fully understood. In this Letter of Interest we will list a few important goals that need to be addressed in the next decade, also taking into account the current discordances present between the different cosmological probes, as the Hubble constant H-0 value, the sigma S-8(8) tension, and the anomalies present in the Planck results. Finally, we will give an overview of upgraded experiments and next-generation space-missions and facilities on Earth that will be of crucial importance to address all these questions. Abstract

A precise measurement of the curvature of the Universe is of prime importance for cosmology since it could not only confirm the paradigm of primordial inflation but also help in discriminating between different early-Universe scenarios. Recent observations, while broadly consistent with a spatially flat standard Λ Cold Dark Matter ( Λ CDM) model, show tensions that still allow (and, in some cases, even suggest) a few percent deviations from a flat universe. In particular, the Planck Cosmic Microwave Background power spectra, assuming the nominal likelihood, prefer a closed universe at more than 99% confidence level. While new physics could be at play, this anomaly may be the result of an unresolved systematic error or just a statistical fluctuation. However, since positive curvature allows a larger age of the Universe, an accurate determination of the age of the oldest objects provides a smoking gun in confirming or falsifying the current flat Λ CDM model.

Abstract

We propose a novel deep learning tool in order to study the evolution of dark energy models. The aim is to combine two architectures: the Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) and the Bayesian Neural Networks (BNN), we named this full network as RNN+BNN. The first one is capable of learning complex sequential information to classify objects like supernovae and use the light-curves directly to learn information from the sequence of observations. Since RNN is not capable to calculate the uncertainties, BNN emerges as a solution for problems in deep learning like, for example, the overfitting. For the trainings we use measurements of the distance modulus $\mu(z)$, such as those provided by Pantheon Supernovae Type Ia. In view of our results, the reported approach turns out to be a first promising step on how we can train a new neural network that can compute their own confidence regions for specific cosmological data. It is worth stressing that the new technique allows to reduce the computational load of expensive codes for dark energy models and probe the necessity of modified dark energy models at large redshifts for a supernovae trained sampler., Comment: 22 pages, 8 figures.
