Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Nove experimentos foram realizados no Departamento de Zootecnia da UFV, a fim de avaliar as exigências de metionina + cistina digestível, treonina digestível e arginina digestível e calcular a relação destes aminoácidos com a lisina nas fases de 1 a 20, 24 a 38 e 44 a 56 dias de idade. Cinco níveis de cada aminoácido foram utilizados para cada fase. No estudo de metionina + cistina digestível, as concentrações foram 0,731-0,916% (incremento de 0,046), 0,712- 0,881% (incremento de 0,042) e 0,631-0,781% (incremento de 0,037) para as fases de 1-20, 24-38 e 44-56 dias de idade, respectivamente. Os níveis para a treonina digestível foram de 0,684-0,870% (incremento de 0,047), 0,637-0,807% (incremento de 0,043) e 0,565-0,715 (incremento de 0,037) para os mesmos períodos, (incremento respectivamente, de 0,061), enquanto 1,083-1,296 para arginina (incremento digestível, de 0,053) de 1,10-1,34 e 0,96-1,148 (incremento de 0,047), como realizado nos experimentos anteriores. No estudo de metionina + cistina, houve efeito linear positivo para ganho de peso e quadrático para conversão alimentar, na fase de 1 a 20 dias de idade. O nível de metionina + cistina digestível (total), estimado na fase de 1 a 20 dias de idade, foi de 0,808% (0,907% total), correspondente a uma relação metionina + cistina:lisina digestível de 70%, de acordo com os resultados de conversão alimentar e utilização do modelo descontínuo. Houve efeito quadrático para ganho de peso, conversão alimentar e peso absoluto da perna, na fase de 24 a 38 dias de idade, para o estudo de metionina + cistina. O nível de metionina + cistina digestível (total) estimado na fase de 24 a 38 foi de 0,767% (0,844% total), correspondente a uma relação metionina + cistina:lisina de 72%, de acordo com os resultados de ganho de peso e o modelo descontínuo. Não houve efeito dos níveis de metionina + cistina, na fase de 44 a 56 dias de idade, sobre as características de desempenho, entretanto o peso absoluto do file teve efeito quadrático. O valor de exigência de metionina + cistina digestível (total), estimado para a fase de 44 a 56 dias de idade, foi de 0,668% (0,738% total), correspondente a uma relação de 71%, de acordo com a melhor resposta biológica e zootécnica. No estudo de treonina, houve efeito quadrático para consumo de ração e ganho de peso na fase de 1 a 20 dias de idade. A exigência de treonina digestível (total) na fase de 1 a 20 dias de idade foi de 0,777% (0,890% total), correspondente a uma relação treonina:lisina de 67%, de acordo com os resultados de ganho de peso e modelo descontínuo. Não houve efeito dos níveis de treonina sobre as características de desempenho, sugerindo que o nível de treonina digestível (total) de 0,637 (0,731% total), correspondente a uma relação de 60%, foi suficiente para maximizar o desempenho na fase de 24 a 38 dias de idade. Observaram-se efeitos quadrático e linear dos níveis de treonina digestível sobre o peso absoluto do file e o peso absoluto da perna, respectivamente, na fase de 24 a 38 dias de idade. Não houve efeito dos níveis de treonina sobre as características de desempenho e cortes nobres na fase de 44 a 56 dias de idade, sugerindo que o nível de treonina digestível (total) de 0,565% (0,650% total), correspondente a uma relação de 60%, foi suficiente para maximizar o desempenho na fase de 44 a 56 dias. No estudo de arginina, houve efeito quadrático para ganho de peso e conversão alimentar na fase de 1 a 20 dias de idade. O valor de exigências de arginina digestível (total), estimado na fase de 1 a 20 dias de idade, foi de 1,22% (1,31% total), correspondendo a uma relação arginina:lisina digestível de 105%, de acordo com os resultados de ganho de peso e o modelo descontínuo. Não houve efeito dos níveis de arginina sobre as características de desempenho e cortes nobres, sugerindo que o nível de arginina digestível (total) de 1,083 (1,155% total), correspondente a uma relação de 102%, foi suficiente para maximizar o desempenho na fase de 24 a 38 dias. No período de 44 a 56 dias, não houve efeito dos níveis de arginina digestível sobre as características de desempenho e cortes nobres, sugerindo que o nível de treonina digestível (total) de 0,960% (1,026% total), correspondente a uma relação de 102%, foi suficiente para maximizar o desempenho. Nine experiments were conducted at the Department of Animal Science of UFV, to evaluate the digestible methionine + cystine, threonine and arginine requirement from 1 to 20, 24 to 38 and 44 to 56 days old. Five levels of each amino acid were used per phase. In the study of digestible methionine + cystine, the concentrations were 0.731-0.916% (increase of 0.046); 0.712-0.881% (increase of 0.042) and 0.631-0.781% (increase of 0.037) for 1-20, 24-38 and 44- 56 days old respectively. Those for digestible threonine were 0.684-0.870% (increase of 0.047); 0.637-0.807% (increase of 0.043); and 0.565-0.715 (increase of 0.037) for the same respective phases. Those for digestible arginine were 1.10- 1.34 (increase of 0.061); 1.083-1.296 (increase of 0.053); and 0.96-1.148 (increase of 0.047) as performed in the previous experiments. Weight gain and feed conversion responded linearly and quadratically, respectively, to increase levels of digestible methionine. Using the broken line model, the requirement of digestible methionine + cystine (total) and the ratio of digestible methionine + cystine:lysine for the phase 1-20 days old are 0.808 (0.907% total) and 70%, respectively, according to the results of feed conversion. For the phase 24-38 xviidays old, weight gain, feed conversion rate and absolute leg quarter weight responded quadratically to increasing levels of digestible methionine. Using the broken line model, the requirement of digestible methionine + cystine (total) and the ratio of digestible methionine + cystine:lysine for the phase 24-38 days old were 0.767 (0.844% total) and 72%, respectively, according to the results of body weight gain. The absence of significant response for body weight gain and feed conversion in the third phase (44-56 days) shows that the lowest level of methionine + cystine met the birds requirement. Nevertheless, according to the best biological response the digestible (total) methionine + cystine requirement and ratio were .668% (.738% total) and 71%, respectively. The absence of significant response for body weight gain and feed conversion in the second phase (24-38 days) shows that the lowest level of threonine met the birds requirement, therefore the digestible (total) threonine requirement and ratio were .637% (.731% total) and 60%, respectively. Breast meat fillet absolute weight and leg quarter absolute weight responded quadratically and linearly, respectively with the increase of the threonine level in second phase (24-38). The absence of significant response for body weight gain, feed conversion and the absolute weight of the breast meat, fillet and leg quarter in the third phase (44-56 days) shows that the lowest level of methionine + cystine met the birds requirement, therefore the digestible (total) threonine requirement and ratio to maximize the performance were .565 (.650% total) and 60%, respectively. In the study of arginine, body weight gain and feed conversion responded quadratically to increasing levels of digestible arginine in the first phase. Using the broken line model, the requirement of digestible arginine (total) and the ratio of digestible xviiiarginine:lysine for the first phase were 1.22% (1.31% total) and 105%, respectively, according to the results of body weight gain. The absence of statistical difference in the second and third phases (24-38 days old and 44-56 days old, respectively), showed that the lowest level of digestible (total) arginine of 1.083% (1.155% total) and .960% (1.026) met the birds requirement. These levels corresponded to a ratio of 102% in both phases.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Foram conduzidos quatro experimentos com o objetivo de estabelecer a relação metionina mais cistina digestível: lisina digestível e estimar as exigências em metionina mais cistina digestível e lisina digestível para codornas japonesas em crescimento e postura. No experimento I, foram utilizadas 540 codornas fêmeas, com a idade inicial de sete dias e peso médio de 21,50g, durante 35 dias. O delineamento foi em blocos ao acaso, com cinco repetições e 18 aves por unidade experimental. Os tratamentos consistiram de seis relações metionina mais cistina digestível: lisina digestível (0,48, 0,53, 0,58, 0,63, 0,68 e 0,75). No experimento II utilizaram-se 510 codornas fêmeas, com a idade inicial de sete dias e peso médio de 22,90g, durante 35 dias. O delineamento foi em blocos ao acaso com cinco repetições e 17 animais por unidade experimental. Os tratamentos consistiam de seis níveis de lisina digestível (0,938, 1,037, 1,136, 1,235, 1,334 e 1,433%). Para o experimento II, a relação metionina mais cistina digestível: lisina digestível utilizada foi à determinada no experimento I (0,66). Em ambos os experimentos, foram mantidos as relações aminoacídicas, no perfil de proteína ideal. No experimento III foram utilizados 360 codornas fêmeas, com a idade inicial de 45 dias, e peso médio de 137,0 g. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos ao acaso, com seis repetições de 10 animais cada. Os tratamentos consistiram de seis relações metionina mais cistina: lisina (0,60, 0,65, 0,70, 0,75, 0,80 e 0,85). No experimento IV, foram utilizadas 300 codornas fêmeas, com idade de 49 dias e peso médio de 138,0 g. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos ao acaso com cinco repetições e dez animais cada. Os tratamentos consistiram de seis níveis de lisina digestível (0,800, 0,900, 1,000, 1,100, 1,200 e 1,300%). No experimento IV, a relação metionina mais cistina digestível: lisina digestível utilizada foi aquela verificada no experimento III (0,80). Em ambos experimentos foram mantidos as relações aminoacídicas no perfil de proteína ideal. No experimento I, os tratamentos influenciaram de forma quadrática, o consumo alimentar, a conversão alimentar, o empenamento, a composição química (matéria seca, água, proteína e extrato etéreo) e a deposição de proteína corporal, influenciando linearmente o peso final e o ganho de peso das codornas. No experimento II, não houve efeito dos tratamentos sobre o peso final, consumo alimentar e na composição química (matéria seca, água, proteína e extrato etéreo) e deposição de proteína corporal, apresentando efeito quadrático sobre o ganho de peso e conversão alimentar, ocorrendo efeito linear sobre o consumo de lisina. No experimento III, os tratamentos não influenciaram a conversão alimentar e o peso final das codornas, apresentando efeito quadrático sobre a taxa de postura, peso dos ovos, massa dos ovos e porcentagem da casca dos ovos e efeito linear para o consumo alimentar. Para o experimento IV, verificou-se efeito quadrático sobre a taxa de postura, massa de ovos e conversão alimentar, e efeito linear sobre o peso dos ovos e consumo alimentar, não tendo sido verificado efeito significativo sobre o peso final das codornas. Conclui-se que as exigências em metionina mais cistina digestível e lisina digestível, para codornas japonesas dos sete aos 42 dias de idade, foram respectivamente 0,758 e 1,180%, para um consumo diário de 91,43 mg de metionina mais cistina digestível e 152 mg de lisina digestível, e a relação metionina mais cistina digestível: lisina digestível foi estimada em 0,66. Para as codornas japonesas em postura, as exigências em metionina mais cistina digestível e lisina digestível, foram respectivamente 0,727 e 1,117%, para um consumo diário de 164 mg de metionina mais cistina digestível e 254 mg de lisina digestível, sendo a relação metionina mais cistina digestível: lisina digestível estimada em 0,80. Four experiments were carried out to estimate the best digestible methionine plus cystine: digestible lysine ratio and the requirement in digestible methionine plus cystine and digestible lysine for growing and laying Japanese quail. For experiment IV, Three hundred 49 days old female quail, weighing 138.0g were used in four experimental periods of 28 days each. Completely randomized blocks design was used with five replicates and 10 females per experimental unity to study the effect of five digestible lysine ratio (0.800, 0.900, 1.00, 1.100, 1.200 e 1.300%) on traits measured during the eggs production period. For the experimental IV, the digestible methionine plus cystine: digestible lysine ratio utilized was estimated in experiment III (0.80). In both experiments was maintained the amino acids ratio, in the profile of ideal protein. In experiment I, the effect of the amino acids on feed intake (g), feed conversion (g/g), feather rate (%), chemical composition (%) (dry matter, water, crud protein, ether extract) and protein deposition bodily was quadratic and the effect on final body weight (g) and weight gain (g) was linear. In the experiment feed intake (g), chemical composition (%) (dry matter, water, crud protein, ether extract) and protein deposition bodily, to feed conversion (g/g) and weight gain (g) the effect was quadratic, the effect of digestible lysine intake (g) was linear. In the experiment III, no significant effect of treatments on feed consumption: gain diet (g of diet/g of eggs). Quadratic effects was observed for final body weight (g), eggs production (%), egg weight (g), eggs mass (g of eggs/quail/day) and shell egg (%), and for feed intake (g) the effect was linear. In experiment IV quadratic effect for eggs production (%), eggs mass (g of eggs/quail/day) and feed consumption: gain diet (g of diet/g of eggs) and linear effect shell egg (%) and feed intake (g). The nutritional requirements for Japanese quail from the 7 to 42 days of age, in digestible methionine plus cystine and digestible lysine were 0.758 and 1.180% respectively, and 91.43 mg of digestible methionine plus cystine and 152 mg of digestible lysine intake. The estimated digestible methionine plus cystine: digestible lysine ratio was 0,66. The nutritional requirements for laying Japanese quail, in digestible methionine plus cystine and digestible lysine were 0.727 and 1.117% respectively, and digestible methionine plus cystine: digestible lysine ratio was estimated in 0,80, and 164 mg of digestible methionine plus cystine and 254 mg of digestible lysine intake.

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico Foi realizado um experimento com o objetivo de avaliar níveis de lisina para fêmeas suínas de primeiro parto, na lactação. Foram utilizadas 40 porcas primíparas com peso inicial de 182,2 ±16,5 kg em delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso com cinco tratamentos (0,95; 1,03; 1,10; 1,18; e 1,25% de lisina total na ração, mantendo-se a mesma relação de aminoácidos) e oito repetições, em que cada porca foi considerada a unidade experimental. A duração da lactação foi de 21 dias; durante esse período, as porcas consumiram uma média diária de ração de 4,2 kg. O consumo total de ração não variou entre os tratamentos, assim, o consumo de lisina, variando de 39,9 a 50,8 g/dia, aumentou linearmente (P

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico Um total de 180 leitões foram utilizados em três experimentos para avaliar a influência da redução da proteína bruta (PB) com suplementação de aminoácidos em rações sobre o desempenho de suínos mantidos em diferentes temperaturas. No experimento I, foram utilizados 60 animais mantidos em conforto térmico (22 oC), dos 15,0 kg aos 30,2 kg, em delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, com cinco tratamentos (18, 17, 16, 15 e 14% PB), seis repetições e dois animais por unidade experimental. Não se observou efeito da redução do nível de PB sobre o consumo de ração (CR), ganho de peso (GP) e conversão alimentar (CA). As taxas de deposição de gordura (TDG) e proteína (TDP) também não foram influenciadas pelos tratamentos. Os tratamentos influenciaram os pesos absoluto e relativo do estômago e o peso absoluto de intestino. No experimento II, 60 leitões foram mantidos em alta temperatura (32 oC), dos 15,2 kg aos 29,9 kg, utilizando-se os tratamentos e o delineamento experimental do experimento I. Não se observou efeito dos tratamentos sobre o CR, o GP e a CA nem sobre os consumos de lisina e de energia digestíveis. A redução da PB influenciou o consumo de nitrogênio; somente a TDG foi influenciada. Os maiores valores de peso de fígado, estômago e rins foram observados nos animais que receberam a ração com maior nível de PB. No experimento III, 60 leitões foram mantidos no calor (32o C), dos 29,8 aos 59,9 kg, distribuídos em cinco tratamentos (17, 16, 15, 14 e 13% PB), seis repetições e dois animais por unidade experimental. A redução do nível de PB influenciou o GP e o CR dos animais, tendo apresentado os menores valores aqueles submetidos à ração com 14% de PB; a CA não variou. Observou-se efeito dos tratamentos sobre a TDP e a TDG, com os animais que receberam a ração com 14% de PB apresentando os menores valores de ambas as taxas. Os animais que receberam o nível mais elevado de PB apresentaram maiores pesos (absoluto e relativo) de rins. Concluiu-se que o nível de PBda ração para suínos machos dos 15 aos 60 kg mantidos em diferentes temperaturas pode ser reduzido em quatro unidades percentuais, sem influência negativa no desempenho dos animais, desde que as rações sejam devidamente suplementadas com aminoácidos essenciais no padrão da proteína ideal. A total of 180 piglets in three experiments was used to evaluate the influence of reduction of the crude protein (CP) level and amino acid supplementation in diets on performance of swines under different temperatures. In the experiment one, sixty swines maintained in a termoneutral environment (22 oC), from 15.0 kg to 30.2 kg, were allotted to a completely randomized experimental design with five treatments (18, 17, 16, 15 and 14% CP), six replications and two animals per experimental unit. The reduction of CP level did not affect the feed intake (FI), weight gain (WG) and feed:gain (FG) ratio, as well as the depositions rates of protein (PDR) and fat (FDR). The treatments affected the absolute and relative weights of the stomach and absolute weight of the intestine. In the experiment two, sixty swines, maintained in a high environmental temperature (32 oC) from 15.2 to 29.9 kg, were allotted to the treatments and experimental design similar those used in the first experimento. The reduction of the CP level did not affected FI, WG, FG and the intakes of digestible lysine and energy. The CP reduction affected nitrogen intake; just FDR were infuenced. The highest values of liver, stomach and kidneys weights were observed in the animals fed diet with higher level of CP. In the experiment three, sixty swines were maintained in a high environmental temperature (32 oC), from 29.8 to 59.9 kg, and fed five rations (17, 16, 15, 14 and 13% CP), with six replicates and two animal per experimental unit. The reduction of CP level affected WG and FI, and the animals fed the diet with 14% CP showed smaller values. FG did not change. The treatments affected the PDR and FDR, and the animals fed diet with 14% CP showing the smaller values for the both rates. The animals fed diet with the highest CP level showed higher absolute and relative weight of kidneys. It was concluded that the dietary crude protein level fed to males swines from 15 to 60 kg under different temperatures can be reduced in four percentual units, withno effect on performance since diets were supplemented with essencial amino acids based on the ideal protein concept.

Dois experimentos foram realizados com o objetivo de avaliar a digestibilidade ileal aparente e verdadeira de aminoácidos em diversos alimentos utilizados na alimentação de suínos. No primeiro experimento, foi avaliada a digestibilidade de aminoácidos do farelo de arroz, levedura de cana de baixa proteína e levedura de cana de alta proteína. Seis suínos machos castrados com peso médio de 40 kg foram utilizados para este objetivo. O segundo experimento objetivou a determinação da digestibilidade dos aminoácidos de farinha de vísceras de aves, farinha de vísceras de suínos, de farinha de vísceras mista e farinha de penas, utilizando oito suínos machos castrados, pesando inicialmente 40 kg em média. Em ambos experimentos, os animais foram distribuídos em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado com quatro repetições realizadas em dois períodos experimentais. O alimento a ser testado constituiu a única fonte de proteína da dieta. A ração foi fornecida com base no peso metabólico dos animais. O fornecimento de água foi à vontade. A determinação dos aminoácidos endógenos foi feita através da utilização de uma dieta isenta de proteína. Todos os alimentos testados apresentaram coeficientes de digestibilidade de seus aminoácidos parâmetro, serem de satisfatório empregados a alto, como podendo, substitutos com dos base neste alimentos convencionalmente utilizados na formulação de dietas para suínos desde que respeitados os níveis de inclusão mais adequados para cada alimento. Two trials were carried out in order to determine the apparent and true ileal digestibilities of amino acids in some feeds used in formulation of growing swines diets. In the first experiment, rice bran, low protein dry yeast and high protein dry yeast were evaluated. Six castrate males with initial average weight of 40 kg were fitted with a simple T-cannula in the distal ileum. In the second experiment was determined the digestibility of amino acids in poultry by-products meal, swine by-products meal, a mixture of poultry and swine by-products meal and feather meal. Eight castrate males with initial average weight of 40 kg were fitted with a simple T-cannula in the distal ileum. Both trials were conducted in a randomized design with three treatments and four replications carried out in two experimental periods. The feeds evaluated was the only protein source of diet.. Animals received the meals according to the metabolic weight. The water was given ad libitum. A protein free diet was used to determine the endogenous losses. The digestibility coefficients of amino acids in all tested meals were satisfactory or high. Based on this results the feedstuffs evaluated are good alternatives for the conventional ingredients in the swine formulation diets. Attention must be taken with respect to the adequate level of inclusion of this feeds in the diets.

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico Foram utilizadas 36 fêmeas suínas, híbridos comerciais (AGPIC 421 da Agroceres), com idade inicial de 115 dias, submetidas a quatro planos de nutrição (níveis de lisina/tratamentos = 0,80; 0,90; 1,00; e 1,10% na dieta) e abatidas aos 95, 105 e 115 kg, com o objetivo de avaliar, no músculo Longissimus dorsi, características de os efeitos qualidade da desses fatores carne. na Constatou-se composição que, e nas quanto aos indicadores pH 1 , pH 24 , valor R e índices de cor (L*, a* e b*), não houve efeito dos níveis de lisina na dieta e no peso ao abate (P > 0,05), embora tenham influenciado (P < 0,05) o teor de mioglobina do músculo, que aumentou com o peso dos animais e com o nível de lisina na dieta. Ao usar esses índices para avaliação da qualidade da carne (PSE, RSE, Normal e DFD), verificou-se incidência elevada (cerca de 40%) da condição PSE nos animais experimentais. Entretanto, ao serem utilizados os diferentes índices e suas associações, conforme preconizado na literatura, não foi possível estabelecer uma tendência na incidência da condição PSE, com base nos fatores xvestudados. Ademais, as incidências das diversas condições de qualidade da carne divergiram entre os diversos métodos de classificação de qualidade preconizados na literatura, especialmente quando essa classificação se baseou exclusivamente no pH 24 . A composição centesimal e a maciez da carne não sofreram efeito dos níveis de lisina na dieta e do peso ao abate ou da interação destes (P > 0,05). A relação entre os ácidos oléico (C18:1) e linoléico (C18:2) e a concentração de C18:2, tanto na gordura intramuscular quanto na subcutânea, foi afetada pelos fatores estudados e por suas interações. O mesmo ocorreu com a relação entre ácidos graxos saturados e insaturados na gordura subcutânea. Entretanto, esses parâmetros variaram segundo cada interação, não se encontrando uma tendência definida. Já a relação saturado/insaturado na gordura intramuscular não foi afetada por nenhum dos fatores ou pela interação destes. Thirty six commercial hybrid gilt (Agroceres AGPIC 421) with initial age of 115 days were submitted to four nutritional plans (diet lysine levels = 0,80; 0,90; 1,00 e 1,10%) and slaughtered at 95, 105 or 115 Kg in order to evaluate the effect of these factors on the composition and quality characteristics of the Longissimus dorsi muscle. Lysine levels and live weight did not influence (P > 0,05) the following quality indicators: pH 1 , pH 24 , R value, color indexes (L*, a* e b*) though having no effect (P < 0,05) over myoglobin concentration which increased with both slaughter weight and diet lysine levels. Using these indicators to evaluate the meat quality (PSE, RSE, Normal and DFD) a high incidence (around 40%) of the PSE condition was verified in the experimental animals. However, by using the different quality indicators and their association, it was not possible to establish a tendency in the PSE incidence as influenced by the factors studied. Moreover, the incidence of the various quality conditions differed when using different quality indicators, specially when pH 24 was used to xviiestablish these quality conditions. Muscle composition and tenderness were not affected (P > 0,05) by lysine levels and slaughter weight or their interaction. Both intramuscular and subcutaneous Oleic/Linoleic ratio and linoleic level were influenced by the factors studied and their interactions. The same was true for the subcutaneous saturated/insaturated ratio (S/I). However, these parameters varied according to each interaction and a defined tendency could not be established. Muscle intramuscular S/I was not affected by any of the factors studied or their interaction.

Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of energy intake levels on production and reproduction performance of sows. Fifty crossbred Landrace X Large White sows, thirty of second, and twenty of thirth parity, averaging 193.8 kg of body weight at farrowing, were distributed into five treatments based on different levels of energy intake during lactation: 15,040, 15,510, 15,980, 16,450 and 16,920 kcal of digestible energy/day. Body weight weaning increased and lactation weight loss decreased linearly with the energy intake. There was negative correlation between the interval to estrus and body weight at weaning and lactation weight loss. It is concluded that in sows the increase of energy during lactation increase at the weaning body weight and that the thinner sows at weaning the longer is the time to estrus. O experimento foi conduzido com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito dos níveis de consumo de energia na fase de lactação sobre o desempenho produtivo e reprodutivo de porcas. Foram utilizadas 50 porcas, sendo 30 de segundo e 20 de terceira ordem de parto, mestiças Landrace x Large White, com peso corporal médio de 193,8 kg ao parto, distribuídas em cinco tratamentos, de acordo com os níveis de consumo de energia na fase de lactação: 15.040, 15.510, 15.980, 16.450 e 16.920 kcal energia digestível (ED)/dia. O peso ao final da lactação aumentou e a perda de peso na lactação diminuiu linearmente, com o aumento do consumo de energia. Observou-se correlação negativa entre o número de dias para o estro e peso ao final da lactação e perda de peso corporal durante a lactação. Conclui-se que o aumento do consumo de energia durante a fase de lactação elevou o peso das porcas à desmama e as porcas mais leves no final da lactação demoram mais para apresentar estro.

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico Este estudo foi realizado para avaliar o efeito da temperatura ambiente sobre o desempenho e características de carcaça de frangos de corte dos 22 aos 42 dias de idade. Foram utilizados 336 frangos machos da linhagem Avian Farm, com peso médio inicial de 624 g, distribuídos em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, com quatro tratamentos (16, 20, 25 e 32 oC), sendo o tratamento 1 constituído de 12 e, os demais, 24 repetições, todos com quatro aves por unidade experimental. Os tratamentos influenciaram o ganho de peso, o consumo de ração e o consumo de energia metabolizável, que aumentaram, de forma quadrática, até as temperaturas estimadas de 24,4; 19,1; e 19,1 oC, respectivamente. A conversão alimentar também variou de forma quadrática, reduzindo-se até a temperatura estimada de 26,3 o C. Os tratamentos influenciaram, de forma quadrática, os pesos absolutos da carcaça, do peito e da coxa, que aumentaram até as temperaturas estimadas de 25,3; 24,0; e 26,3, respectivamente. O rendimento de carcaça aumentou e o de peito reduziu, de forma linear, com a elevação da temperatura de 16 até 32 oC. O ambiente térmico influenciou o rendimento de coxa, que variou de forma quadrática, aumentando até a temperatura estimada de 18,7 oC. Os pesos absoluto e relativo de proventrículo não foram influenciados pelo ambiente térmico. No entanto, os pesos absolutos do coração, do fígado e da moela e os relativos do coração e da moela foram influenciados pelos tratamentos, sendo mais pesados no ambiente frio (16 oC) e mais leves no ambiente quente (32 oC). Os pesos relativos do fígado e do coração diminuíram, de forma linear, com o aumento da temperatura de 16 até 32 o C. Concluiu-se que os melhores resultados de desempenho e de pesos absolutos de carcaça, peito e coxa são obtidos quando as aves são criadas em temperaturas ambientes entre 23,6 e 26,3 oC e que temperaturas ambientes abaixo ou acima desses valores influenciam, negativamente, o ganho de peso e os pesos absolutos de carcaça, peito e coxa. This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of environmental temperature on the performance and carcass characteristics of male broilers from 22 to 42 days of age. Three hundred third six Avian Farm male broilers, with average initial weight of 624g were used. The animals were distributed in a randomized experimental design with four treatments (16 , 20, 25 and 32o C). Treatment 1 was constituted by twelve replications with four birds per experimental unity, and the others were constituted by twenty four replications with four birds per experimental unity. The environmental temperatures influenced the weight gain, and the feed and metabolizable energy intakes, that increased in a quadratic way up to the estimated temperatures of 24.4, 19.1, 19.1oC respectively. The feed:gain ratio also changed in a quadratic way, decreasing up to the estimated temperature of 26.3o C. The treatments influenced in a quadratic way the absolute weight of carcass, breast and thigh that increased up to the estimated temperature of 25.3, 24.0 and 26.3oC respectively. The carcass yield increased while the breast yield decreased in a linear way with the increase of the environmental temperature from 16 to 32o C. The thigh yield changed in a quadratic way, increasing up to the estimate temperature of 18.4o C. The absolute and relative weights of proventriculus were not influenced by the treatments. However, the absolute weights of heart, liver and gizzard, and the relative weight of heart and gizzard, were influenced by the treatments, being greater in the cold environment (16oC), and smaller in the hot environment (32oC). The relative weight of liver and heart decreased in a linear way with the increase of temperature from 16 to 32oC. It was concluded that the best results for performance and the absolute weight of carcass, breast chest and thigh are obtained when the birds are raised in environmental temperatures between 23.6 and 26.3o C, and that environmental temperatures bellow or above these values influence negatively the weight gain and the absolute weight of carcass, breast and thigh.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Foram utilizadas 50 porcas mestiças com médias de 154,5 + 2,93 e 175,1 + 8,53 kg de peso no segundo e terceiro ciclos reprodutivos respectivamente, em experimento para avaliar o efeito dos níveis de proteína bruta (10,0; 11,5; 13,0; 14,5 e 16%) da ração durante a gestação, sobre o desempenho das fêmeas e leitegadas em dois ciclos reprodutivos sucessivos completos, o ciclo reprodutivo completo compreendia o intervalo do desmame do ciclo anterior ao desmame do ciclo avaliado, foram avaliados os segundo e terceiro ciclos. O experimento foi realizado no Setor de Suinocultura do Departamento de Zootecnia da Universidade Federal de Viçosa, em Viçosa, MG. O ganho de peso da porca, o peso médio do leitão ao desmame e o ganho de peso do leitão no segundo ciclo foram afetados de forma quadrática pelos níveis de proteína, no terceiro ciclo o ganho de peso da porca, o peso da leitegada ao nascer e o número de leitões desmamados aumentaram linearmente. A mortalidade diminuiu linearmente nos dois ciclos. Não houve efeito sobre o peso e o número de leitões nascidos e natimortos em nenhum dos ciclos. A eficiência energética das porcas no segundo e terceiro ciclos reprodutivos foi afetada de forma quadrática. Concluiu-se que os melhores níveis de proteína bruta na ração de gestação, para porcas de segundo e terceiro ciclos reprodutivos, seriam respectivamente 13,02% e 12,95% de PB. Fifty crossbreed gilts (Landrace, Large White e Pietran) with average weight of 154,5 + 2,93 and 175,1 + 8,53 kg at second and third reproductive cycle respectively, were used to evaluate the effect of the levels of crude protein (10,0; 11,5; 13,0; 14,5 and 16,0%) during the gestation, on the development of the mothers and litters during two consecutives reproductive cycles, a complete reproductive cycle include the interval from the weaning of the preceding cycle to the weaning of the evaluated cycle. The experiment was conducted in the swine sector, of the Animal Science Department from Universidade Federal de Viçosa, MG. Sow weight gain, pig average weight at weaning and pig weight gain in second cycle were affected quadractly by the protein levels., sow weight, number of weaned pigs and litter born weight in third cycle increased linearly. Mortality decreased linearly in both cycles. The pig weight and number of pigs born alive were not affected. It is concluded that the best levels of crude protein in gestation ration for sows of second and third reproductive cycles would be 13,02% e 12,95% respectively.

Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais Este estudo foi realizado para avaliar níveis de proteína bruta (PB) em ração para suínos em fase inicial de crescimento, mantidos em ambiente de baixa temperatura (15°C). Foram utilizados 60 leitões mestiços (Landrace x Large White), machos castrados, com peso inicial médio de 15,1 ± 0,50 kg e idade média de 56 ± 3,6 dias, distribuídos em delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, com cinco tratamentos (17,0; 18,0; 19,0; 20,0 e 21%), seis repetições e dois animais por unidade experimental. As rações e a água foram fornecidas à vontade. Os níveis de PB da ração influenciaram o ganho de peso diário, que aumentou de forma quadrática até 19,6%. A conversão alimentar também variou de forma quadrática com o nível de PB, melhorando até o nível de 20%. Os consumos de ração e de energia digestível diários não foram influenciados pelos tratamentos. Embora o consumo de lisina diário tenha aumentado de forma linear, o modelo LRP foi o que melhor se ajustou aos dados, estimando em 20% o nível de PB, a partir do qual o consumo de lisina permaneceu no platô. Os tratamentos influenciaram a taxa de deposição de proteína que aumentou de forma linear, enquanto a de gordura não variou. Concluiu-se que o nível de 20% de PB da ração, associado a um consumo de 233 e 10,7 g de proteína e de lisina, respectivamente, promove os melhores resultados de desempenho para suínos machos castrados de 15 a 30 kg, mantidos em ambiente de baixa temperatura. This study was conduced to evaluate the levels of crude protein (CP) in diets for barrows in initial growing phase kept in environment at low temperature (15oC). Sixty crossbred barrows with initial mean weight of 15.1 + 0.50 kg and 56 + days old, were distributed in an experimental design of randomized blocks with five treatments, six replications and two animals per experimental unit. The diet and water was offered ad libitum. The crude protein diet levels influenced daily feed gain, that increased in a quadractic way up to 19.6%. The feed:gain ratio also changed in a quadractic way with the CP level increasing up to 20%. The feed and digestible energy daily intake were not influenced by the treatments. Although the lysine intake has increased in a linear way the LRP model was the one that better adjusted to the data, estimanting in the 20% the level of PB from that the lysine intake reached a plateau. The treatments influenced the protein deposition rate that increased linearly while the fat deposition rate did not change. It was concluded that the crude protein level of 20,0% in the diet, associated with a daily intake of 233 and 10,7g of protein and lysine respectively, promoted the best results of performance for barrows from 15 to 30 kg, kept in environment at low temperature.

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico Com o objetivo de se avaliar a atividade enzimática da tripsina, amilase e lipase no conteúdo intestinal da rã-touro (Rana catesbeiana Shaw, 1802), 320 animais com peso médio de 3,6 gramas foram distribuídos em baias-teste com temperatura e fotoperíodo controlados. As rãs selecionadas na fase pós- metamórfica receberam ração comercial extrusada ad libitum. Durante 87 dias de experimento, foram efetuadas 29 coletas em intervalos variando de 1 a 8 dias. As coletas do conteúdo intestinal foram feitas mediante a insensibilização das rãs em gelo e água e posterior isolamento do intestino delgado das mesmas. Após cada coleta, todo material foi congelado em nitrogênio líquido e armazenado em freezer, para ser liofilizado posteriormente. A determinação da atividade da tripsina foi realizada utilizando-se Benzoil-D, L-Arginina p-nitroanilida (D, L- BApNA) como substrato. Para os testes de atividade da amilase e lipase, foram utilizados KIT's enzimáticos comerciais, correspondentes a cada enzima. A atividade da tripsina foi registrada no primeiro dia de experimento, enquanto para amilase e lipase isto aconteceu a partir do terceiro dia. A fase inicial é marcada pelo aumento da atividade da tripsina e amilase até alcançar estabilidade, quando os animais ainda estavam na fase de imago. Neste mesmo período, a rã-touro ainda possui baixa capacidade de hidrólise para lipase. No período subseqüente até o final do experimento, a manutenção da estabilidade da atividade e atividade específica da tripsina e amilase foi contrastada pelo contínuo aumento destes parâmetros em relação à lipase. Pode-se concluir que a rã-touro apresenta capacidade para digestão de alimentos de origens protéica, amilásica e lipídica, sendo que, na fase inicial, recomenda-se a utilização de ração rica em proteína e, na fase seguinte, uso de maior quantidade de ingredientes contendo amido e lipídio. With the objective of evaluating the enzymatic activity of the trypsin, amylase and lipase in the intestinal content of the bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana Shaw, 1802), 320 animals with medium weight of 3.6 grams were distributed in stall-test with temperature and photoperiod controlled. The frogs, selected in the post-metamorphic phase they received commercial extruded diet ad libitum. For 87 days of experiment, 29 collections were made in intervals varying from one to eight days. The collections of the intestinal content were performed by the desensitization of the frogs in ice and water and subsequent isolation of the small intestine of the same ones. After each collection, all material it was frozen in liquid nitrogen and stored in freezer to be later liofilizated. The determination of the activity of the trypsin was accomplished being used benzoil-D, L-arginine p- nitroanilide (D, L-BApNA) as substrate. For the tests of activity of the amylase and lipase commercial enzymatic KIT's were used, corresponding to each enzyme. The activity of the trypsin was registered in the first day of experiment, while for amylase and lipase this happened starting from the third day. The initial ixphase is marked by the increase of the activity of the trypsin and amylase to reach a stability when the animals were still in the imago phase. In this same period, the bullfrog still possesses low hydrolysis capacity for lipase. In the subsequent period until the end of the experiment, the maintenance of the stability of the activity and specific activity of the trypsin and amylase was contrasted by the continuous increase of these parameters in relation to lipase. With these results it can be concluded that to bullfrog presents capacity for digestion of ingredients of protein, starch and lipid origin, and in the initial phase the use of rich diet is recommended in protein and in the following phase it can be opted for the use of larger amount of ingredients containing starch and lipid.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Para se avaliar o efeito de diferentes fontes e níveis de energia digestível (ED) sobre o desempenho produtivo e reprodutivo de suínos machos, foram conduzidos três experimentos. No experimento I foram utilizados 80 suínos machos inteiros dos 60 aos 100 kg de peso, que receberam rações formuladas com 16% de proteína bruta e suplementadas com duas fontes de lipídios (gordura de coco e óleo de soja) fornecendo quatro níveis de ED (3350, 3450, 3550 e 3650 kcal/kg de ração). As rações foram fornecidas á vontade durante todo o período experimental. Não houve efeito do nível de ED sobre o consumo de ração diário (CRD) e ganho de peso diário (GPD), no entanto, esses parâmetros foram influenciados pela fonte de energia, sendo os melhores resultados obtidos com a utilização da gordura de coco. A conversão alimentar, foi influenciada de forma quadrática pelos níveis de ED quando se utilizou a gordura de coco. Não se observou efeito do óleo de soja sobre a conversão alimentar. No experimento II, para se avaliar o desempenho reprodutivo foram utilizados animais de um grupo de 80 suínos machos inteiros, com peso inicial médio de 61,25 ± 2,95 kg, distribuídos em oito tratamentos, num arranjo fatorial 2 x 4, duas fontes lipídicas (gordura de coco e óleo de soja) e quatro níveis de energia digestível (3350, 3450, 3550 e 3650 kcal de energia digestível/kg de ração), com cinco repetições e dois animais por unidade experimental. A fonte de lipídio não influenciou o diâmetro (DTE), comprimento (CTE), peso (PTE) e volume (VTE) aos 140 dias de idade, mas esses foram influenciados pelo nível de ED. A espessura de epitélio seminífero (EES) foi influenciada pelo nível de ED quando se utilizou rações contendo gordura de coco. O diâmetro de túbulos seminíferos (DTS) foi influenciado pela fonte e pelo nível de ED. O volume de túbulos seminíferos (VTS) e volume de espaço intertubular (VEI) foram influenciados pelo nível de ED quando a gordura de coco foi a fonte lipídica utilizada. Aos 200 dias de idade não se observou interação entre as fontes e os níveis de ED nem efeito dos níveis de ED sobre os parâmetros DTE, CTE, PTE, VTE, EES e DTS avaliados. A EES aumentou com o uso do óleo de soja. O VTS aumentou com o uso da gordura de coco. O VEI foi maior nos animais consumindo a ração contendo gordura de coco. Os níveis séricos de colesterol total e de triglicerídios foram influenciados pelos níveis de ED quando se utilizou gordura de coco. Os níveis sanguíneos de HDL e de LDL foram influenciados pela fonte de lipídio. Os níveis séricos de testosterona, não foram alterados pelos tratamentos. As características seminais avaliadas se mostraram dentro dos valores considerados normais, principalmente em se tratando de animais jovens, em início de puberdade. No experimento III foram utilizados 24 suínos para se determinar o efeito da inclusão de níveis crescentes de gordura de coco ( 2,24, 3,38, 4,53 e 5,67%) e de óleo de soja (2,45, 3,71, 4,97 e 6,22%), na digestibilidade e metabolizabilidade da energia de rações para fase de terminação. O período experimental foi de 13 dias e os animais receberam as rações experimentais de acordo com o peso metabólico. Concluiu- se que a gordura de coco ao nível de 3568 kcal de ED proporcionou os melhores resultados de desempenho. A gordura de coco como fonte de ED proporcionou os maiores valores médios de DTS e EES e de HDL que o óleo de soja. O aumento dos níveis de energia digestível na dieta elevou os níveis de triglicerídeos, colesterol total e de LDL no soro sangüíneo, com o uso da gordura de coco como fonte lipídica. Os parâmetros morfológicos seminais não foram influenciados pelos tratamentos. A adição de gordura de coco ou de óleo de soja às rações não aumentou os coeficientes de digestibilidade e de metabolizabilidade da energia nem a relação EM/ED das rações em função do aumento dos níveis de inclusão, mas os valores determinados foram sempre maiores que os calculados. Three experiments were carried out to evaluate the effect from different sources and levels of digestible energy (ED) on the productive and reproductive performance of boars. In experiment I, eighty 60-100 kg boars which were given rations formulated with 16% crude protein and supplemented with two lipid sources (coconut oil and soybean oil) supplying four levels of ED (3350, 3450, 3550 and 3650 kcal/kg ration). The rations were fed ad libitum over the whole experimental period. Although there was no effect of the ED levels on daily ration consumption (CRD) neither on daily weight gain (GPD), these parameters were affected by energy source; the best results were obtained with coconut oil. The feed:gain was influenced on a quadratic way by ED levels, when using the coconut oil. No effects of the soybean oil was observed on feed:gain. In experiment II, a number of animals initially weighing 61.25 ± 2.95 kg on the average, from a group of eighty boars, were used to evaluate their reproductive performance. The boars were distributed into eight treatments on 2 x 4 factorial arrangement, two lipid sources (coconut oil and soybean oil) and four levels of digestible energy (3350, 3450, 3550 and 3650 kcal digestible energy /ration kg), with five replications and two animals per unit experiment. The lipid source had no influence on the diameter (DTE), length (CTE), weight (PTE) and volume (VTE) at 140 days of age. However, these variables were affected by ED level. The ED level influenced the thickness of the seminiferous epithelium (EES) when the rations containing coconut oil were used. The diameter of the seminiferous tubules (DTS) were influenced by the lipid source and ED level. Both volumes of the seminiferous tubules (VTS) and the intertubular space (VEI) were influenced by ED level, when the coconut oil was used as lipid source. When animals were 200-years old, no interaction was observed between the sources and ED levels and no effects of the ED levels on the evaluated parameters DTE, CTE, PTE, VTE, EES and DTS. The EES increased with the use of the soybean oil. VTS increased with the use of the coconut oil. VEI was greater in the animals consuming the ration containing coconut oil. The serum levels of the total cholesterol and the triglycerides were affected by ED levels, when using the coconut oil. The blood levels of the HDL and LDL were influenced by lipid source. treatments. The serum levels of testosterone were not altered by The evaluated seminal characteristics showed to be in the range of the normal values, mainly because the animals are young and at the beginning of puberty. In experiment III, 24 boars were used to determine the effect from the inclusion of increasing levels of coconut oil (2.24, 3.38, 4.53 and 5.67%) and the soybean oil (2.45, 3.71, 4.97 and 6.22%) on digestibility and metabolizability of the ration energy for the finishing phase. The experimental was carried out for 13 days and the animals were fed the experimental rations according to the metabolic weight. It was concluded that the coconut oil at the level of 3568 kcal ED provided the best performance results. The coconut oil as an ED source provided the highest average values for DTS and EES and HDL than the soybean oil. The increase of the digestible energy levels in diet increased the levels of triglycerides, total cholesterol and the LDL in the blood serum with the use of the coconut oil as lipid source. The morphologic seminal parameters were not influenced by treatments. The addition of either coconut oil or soybean oil to the rations did not increase the coefficients of the digestibility and the energy metabolizability neither the relationship EM/ED of the rations as a function of the increase in oil levels, although the determined values were always higher than the calculated ones.

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico Foram conduzidos quatro experimentos no Setor de Suinocultura do Departamento de Zootecnia da Universidade Federal de Viçosa, Viçosa-MG. O primeiro objetivou determinar os valores de energia digestível (ED) e metabolizável (EM) e desenvolver equações de predição por meio de parâmetros químicos e físicos, utilizando seis diferentes partidas de farinhas de carne e ossos (FCO) e cinc o de farinhas de vísceras (FV). Foi utilizado o método de coleta total, tendo o óxido férrico sido utilizado como marcador. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições, tendo sido utilizadas 11 alimentos e uma ração-referência, sendo a unidade experimental representada por um animal. Os valores de ED e EM encontrados para as farinhas de carne e ossos variaram de 1.717 a 2.908 kcal/kg e 1.519 a 2.608 kcal/kg, respectivamente, e a variação obtida para a farinha de vísceras foi de 3.281 a 4.567 kcal/kg e 3.151 a 4.293 kcal/kg para ED e EM, respectivamente. As equações de predição da energia digestível e metabolizável que apresentaram maiores R² para a farinha de carne e ossos foram: ED = 1196,11 + 44,18xPB - 121,55xP e EM = 2103,35 + 22,56xPB - 164,02xP; e para a farinha de vísceras foram: ED = 8226,97 - 33,01xPB -160,05xMM e EM = 10146,5 - 166,27xMM – 1259,25xCa. No segundo experimento, foi avaliada a perda endógena de aminoácidos em função de diferentes níveis de fibra na dieta isenta de proteína. Foram utilizados suínos machos castrados, submetidos à cirurgia para implantação de cânula simples “T”, tendo o óxido crômico sido utilizado como indicador. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições, utilizando quatro níveis de inclusão de casca de arroz, que proporcinou níveis de 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 e 4,000% de FB e, ou, 1,820, 3,640, 5,460 e 7,280% de FDN e, ou, 1,504, 3,008, 4,512 e 6,016% de FDA. Dentre os aminoácidos estudados, apenas a glicina não apresentou resposta significativa (P>0,05) aos níveis de inclusão de fibra à dieta isenta de proteína, havendo aumento da perda endógena dos demais aminoácidos estudados à medida que os níveis de fibra na dieta foram aumentados. No terceiro e quarto experimentos, foram determinados os coeficientes de digestibilidade ileal aparentes e verdadeiros dos aminoácidos de seis diferentes FCO e cinco FV, respectivamente. Foram utilizados suínos submetidos à cirurgia para implantação de cânula simples “T”, tendo como indicador o óxido crômico em ambos experimentos. O delineamento experimental utilizado no terceiro e quarto experimentos foi o de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Os coeficientes de digestibilidade ileal aparente da lisina, treonina e metionina, das diferentes farinhas de carne e ossos, variaram de 54,87 a 74,80; 62,62 a 81,19; e 72,35 a 85,46%, respectivamente, e a variação obtida para os coeficientes de digestibilidade ileal verdadeira, para os mesmos aminoácidos, foram de 57,00 a 76,08; 66,26 a 83,07; e 73,76 a 86,39%, respectivamente. No caso das diferentes FV estudadas, obteve-se uma variação de 63,40 a 74,01; 63,17 a 79,13; e 72,60 a 81,11% entre os coeficientes de digestibilidade ileal aparente da lisina, treonina e metionina, tendo os coeficientes de digestibilidade ileal verdadeira desses aminoácidos apresentado uma variação de 64,38 a 74,88; 64,31 a 80,60; e 73,07 a 81,64%, respectivamente. Four experiments were carried out in the Swine Sector of the Animal Science Department of the Federal University of Viçosa. The first one had the objective of determine the digestible energy (DE) and metabolizable energy (ME) and develop prediction equations through chemical and physical parameters, using six different types of meat and bone meals (MBM) and five poultry by-products (PBP). The method of total collection was used, being used the ferric oxide as marker. The experimental design used was the randomized blocks, with 11 feeds and a basal diet, and four replicates, being the experimental unit represented by one animal. The DE and ME values found for the meat and bone meals varied of 1,717 at 2,908 kcal/kg and 1,519 to 2,608 kcal/kg, respectively, and the variation obtained for the poultry by-products varied of 3,281 at 4,567 kcal/kg and 3,151 to 4,293 kcal/kg to DE and ME, respectively. The equations of prediction of the digestible and metabolizable energy that presented higher R² for the meat and bone meals were: ED = 1196,11 + 44,18xPB - 121,55xP and ME = 2103,35 + 22,56xPB - 164,02xP; and for the poultry by-product were: DE = 8226,97 - 33,01xPB - 160,05xMM and ME = 10146,5 - 166,27xMM - 1259,25xCa. In the second experiment were evaluated the endogenous amino acids losses in function of different fiber levels’ inclusion in a free protein diet. Castrated male swines were used, submitted to the surgery for simple "T" canula implantation, being used the chromic oxide as indicator. The experimental design used was the randomized blocks with four replicates, being used four levels of rice peel inclusion that performed levels of 1,000; 2,000; 3,000 and 4,000% of CF and/or 1,820; 3,640; 5,460 and 7,280% of NDF and/or 1,504; 3,008; 4,512 and 6,016% of ADF. Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais Utilizaram-se frangos de corte, nas fases de 1 a 21 e de 22 a 42 dias de idade, mantidos em ambientes de conforto térmico e em estresse de calor, para avaliar níveis de lisina digestível, em rações mantendo ou não a relação aminoacídica. Para o período de 1 a 21 dias de idade, os tratamentos consistiram de cinco níveis de lisina digestível (0,92; 0,98; 1,04; 1,10 e 1,16%) em rações convencionais e de quatro níveis (1,04; 1,10; 1,16 e 1,22%), em rações mantendo a relação aminoacídica. Para o período de 22 a 42 dias de idade, os tratamentos consistiram de rações mantendo ou não a relação aminoacídica com quatro e cinco níveis de lisina digestível (0,895; 0,955; 1,015; 1,075% e 0,775; 0,835; 0,895; 0,955; 1,015%), respectivamente. Observou-se que no ambiente termoneutro, os níveis de lisina da ração convencional influenciaram de forma quadrática o ganho de peso (GP) e o consumo de ração (CR), das aves aos 21 dias de idade, que aumentaram até os níveis de 1,13 e 1,11% de lisina digestível, respectivamente, e a conversão alimentar (CA) reduziu até o nível de 1,14%. Os tratamentos aumentaram de forma quadrática o peso absoluto da carcaça e de forma linear o peso relativo. Os níveis de lisina da ração mantendo relação aminoacídica, influenciaram de forma linear crescente o GP e o peso absoluto da carcaça. Para a fase de 22 a 42 dias de idade, os níveis de lisina da ração influenciaram linearmente o GP e CA, independentemente da ração utilizada. Houve efeito linear dos níveis de lisina somente sobre o peso absoluto da carcaça das aves quando se utilizou as rações convencionais. Os pesos absoluto e relativo do peito e da coxa aumentaram de forma linear, enquanto o peso absoluto da sobrecoxa variou de forma quadrática, quando se considerou a relação aminoacídica. No ambiente de calor, os níveis de lisina da ração convencional influenciaram de forma quadrática o GP, CR, peso absoluto da carcaça e de forma linear a CA. Os tratamentos da ração mantendo a relação aminoacídica influenciaram de forma linear o GP, CA e o peso absoluto de carcaça dos frangos de 1 a 21 dias de idade. Para a fase de 22 a 42 dias de idade, os níveis de lisina da ração melhoraram de forma linear o GP e CA, independentemente de ter sido mantida ou não a relação aminoacídica. Da mesma forma, o peso absoluto e o rendimento de peito dos frangos aumentaram linearmente com os tratamentos, independentemente da ração utilizada. Não houve efeito dos tratamentos sobre o peso absoluto e relativo da gordura abdominal, quando se considerou a relação aminoacídica. Os níveis de lisina das rações convencionais influenciaram de forma linear o peso absoluto da gordura abdominal. Concluiu-se que frangos de corte, nos períodos de 1 a 21 e de 22 a 42 dias de idade, mantidos em conforto térmico, exigem no mínimo 1,14 e 1,015% de lisina digestível em ração convencional e 1,17 e 1,075% de lisina digestível em ração mantendo a relação aminoacídica, respectivamente. No ambiente de calor, os frangos de corte, de 1 a 21 e de 22 a 42 dias de idade, exigem no mínimo 1,14 e 0,955% de lisina digestível, em ração convencional e 1,22 e 1,022% em ração mantendo a relação aminoacídica, respectivamente. Male broilers were used in phases from 1 to 21 and from 22 to 42 days of age, kept under thermal comfort and under heat stress environment were used to evaluate the requirements of digestible lysine, in diets maintaining or not the amino acid profile. In the first period, five levels of digestible lysine (0.92; 0.98; 1.04; 1.10 and 1.16%) were used in practical diets and four levels (1.04; 1.10; 1.16 and 1.225%) were used in diets maintaining the amino acid profile. In the second period, the same methodology was used, however the digestible lysine levels for the practical diets and for the diets maintaining the amino acid profile were: 0.895; 0.955; 1.015; 1.075% and 0.775; 0.835; 0.895; 0.955; 1.015%, respectively. The different digestible lysine levels in the first period using the practical diets and a thermoneutral environment showed a quadratic response for body weight gain (BWG) and feed intake (FI) that increased until 1.13 and a.11% of digestible lysine, respectively. The feed conversion rate (FCR) reduced quadraticly until 1.14% of digestible lysine level. The treatments increased in a quadratic way the absolute weight of carcass (AWC) and a linear way its relative weight (RWC). The lysine levels of diets maintaining the amino acid profile influenced in a crescent linear way the WG and the AWC. In the second period (22 to 42 days of age), a linear response was observed for BWG and FCR, independently of the methodology, with or without the use of the amino acid profile. The AWC showed a linear response only in practical diets. The absolute and relative weights of breast and thigh showed a crescent linear response with lysine levels of diets considering the amino acid profile, while the drumstick answered quadraticaly. In the heat condition, the lysine levels in the practical diets influenced in a quadratic way the BWG, FI and AWC, and in a linear way the FCR. The treatments of the diets using the amino acid profile influenced linearly the BWG, FCR and AWC of broilers from 1 to 21 days of age. For the phase from 22 to 42 days of age the lysine levels of diet improved in a linear way the BWG and FCR independently of the diet used. In the same way absolute weight of breast and the yield breast increased linearly with treatments independently of diet used. The different treatments did not influenced the absolute and relative weight of abdominal fat when the amino acid profile was considered. However, in the practical diets, the different lysine levels showed a linear influence on absolute weight of abdominal fat. In conclusion, broilers kept under thermal comfort, require 1.14 and 1.015% of digestible lysine in practical diets from 1 – 21 days of age and 1.17 and 1.075%, in diets using an amino acid profile, from 22 – 42 days of age, respectively. In the heat environment, the broilers, from 1 to 21 and from 22 to 42 days of age, require at least 1.14 and 1.22%, when practical diets was used and 0.955 and 1.022% of digestible lysine when the diet maintaining the amino acid profile was used, respectively.

Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais Dois experimentos foram realizados em uma granja de suínos, na região de Ponte Nova, Minas Gerais, no período de março a setembro de 2000. No primeiro, avaliou-se um sistema de acondicionamento térmico com ventilação forçada, associada à nebulização em salas de gestação, assim como o seu efeito sobre os parâmetros fisiológicos e reprodutivos da fêmea suína. Foram utilizadas 95 porcas Cambourough 22@ (matriz comercial da Agroceres), de segundo parto em diante, distribuídas em dois tratamentos. No tratamento 1, 46 porcas foram submetidas, nos primeiros 35 dias de gestação, a um sistema de acondicionamento térmico artificial (ventiladores e nebulizadores), acionado automaticamente de acordo com a temperatura do ar (VFN). No tratamento 2, 49 porcas foram submetidas, também nos primeiros 35 dias de gestação, a um ambiente sem qualquer sistema de acondicionamento térmico artificial (SVFN). Após os 35 dias de gestação, todos os animais receberam o mesmo manejo até o parto. A temperatura média ambiente, para os tratamentos VFN e SVFN, foram de 22,6 e 23,4 °C, respectivamente, e nas horas mais quentes do dia o sistema de acondicionamento térmico foi eficiente em reduzir a temperatura em 2 °C. Apesar dessa diferença, esse sistema não foi eficiente em reduzir a temperatura ambiente para a temperatura de conforto dos animais (18-20 C), e em ambos os tratamentos os animais apresentaram freqüência respiratória elevada, que foi eficiente em manter a temperatura retal dos animais. Não houve diferença (P > 0,05) entre os parâmetros de eficiência reprodutiva avaliados (taxa de repetição de estro, taxa de parto, taxa de abortamento e número de leitões nascidos/parto). Também, não houve diferença para a concentração sérica de progesterona, que não influenciou os resultados reprodutivos (P > 0,05). Desta forma, o uso do sistema de ventilação e nebulização para a época do ano estudada não se justifica, uma vez que as temperaturas não foram tão elevadas a ponto de submeter os animais a um estresse por calor severo, o que afetaria o desempenho reprodutivo dos animais. O segundo experimento teve duração de aproximadamente 114 dias, e objetivou avaliar o efeito de diferentes níveis de energia digestível (ED) na ração inicial de gestação sobre a eficiência reprodutiva de fêmeas suínas. Foram utilizadas 179 porcas Cambourough 22@, de segundo parto em diante, distribuídas em dois tratamentos. No tratamento 1, as porcas receberam 2,2kg/dia de ração com 2.986 kcal/kg de ED, nos primeiros 15 dias pós-cobertura (6.371 kcal/kg de ED/dia). No tratamento 2, foi fornecida 2,6kg/dia de ração com 3.100 kcal/kg de ED, da cobertura até o 15 o dia pós-cobertura (8.060 kcal/kg de ED/dia). Após este período, os animais de todos os tratamentos receberam o mesmo manejo nutricional. Não houve diferença (P > 0,05) entre os tratamentos, para as variáveis reprodutivas avaliadas. Também, não foram encontradas diferenças na espessura de toucinho e nas concentrações séricas de progesterona para os animais entre os tratamentos (P > 0,05). Assim, o consumo de ED por dia para o período inicial de gestação recomendado, para a época do ano estudada, é de 6.371 kcal/kg, ou seja, aquele que apresenta menor custo para a produção suinícola. Two experiments were carried out on a pig farm in the County of Ponte Nova, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The first one aimed to evaluate a system of thermal heating with forced ventilation associated to nebulization in gestation pens and its effect on physiological and reproductive parameters of female swine. A total of 95 Cambourough 22@ (matrix of Agroceres) sows from the second parturition were distributed in two treatments. Forty-six sows of treatment one were submitted during the first 35 days of gestation to a system of controlled thermal condition (fans and aspersion) which were automatically turned on according to the air temperature (VFN). In treatment two, during the same period 49 sows of the same variety as the first ones were submitted to natural ventilation (SVFN). From 35 days on of gestation to the parturition, all the animals received the same management. The average room temperature for treatments VFN and SVFN were 22.6°C and 23.4°C, respectively. During the hottest hours of the day, this system was efficient to reduce the temperature by 2°C. In spite of such difference, the system could not reduce the room temperature to an adequate level to these animals. For this reason, they showed high breathing frequency in both treatments, but this was capable to maintain the body temperature of the sows. There were no differences (P>0.05) on the evaluated parameters of reprodutive efficiency. There were no differences on progesterone levels and this parameter did not affect their reproductive performance. That is why the ventilation and nebulization systems during the autumn is not justified since the temperatures at this time of the year is not high enough to take the animals to a stress condition which could directly affect their reproductive performance. The duration of the second experiment was approximately 114 days and its objective was to evaluate different levels of digestible energy (DE) in the early gestation diet on reproductive efficiency of female swine. A total of 179 Cambourough 22@ females from the second parturity were distributed in two treatments. In the first one, the animals received a 2.2 kg/day of a diet with 2.986 kcal/kg de DE from mating to day 15 of gestation (6.371 kcal/kg de DE/day). A diet with 3.100 kcal/kg de DE was supplied to sows in treatment two at a rate of 2.6 kg/day for the same period of time of treatment one (8.060 kcal/kg de DE/day). After 15 days for mating all animals of the treatments received the same nutritional management. No differences (P>0.05) between treatments for the reproductive variables studied were found. Also, no differences were found for back fat and progesterone levels for the animals between treatments. It is concluded that the consume for day of DE in the early gestation diet for this period of the year (autumn-winter) should be 6.371 kcal/kg, the one with lowest cost.

Foram conduzidos dois experimentos com o objetivo de estabelecer a exigência de lisina total para frangos de corte machos, na fase inicial e de crescimento em condições de alta temperatura. No experimento I foram utilizados 400 pintos de corte machos, Avian Farms, de 1 a 21 dias de idade, submetidos a alta temperatura (29 oC). A ração basal continha 21% de PB, 3.000 kcal EM/kg e 1,04% de lisina total, e foi suplementada com 0,000; 0,076; 0,153; 0,230 e 0,306% de L-lisina HCL, resultando em rações com 1,04; 1,10; 1,16; 1,22 e 1,28% de lisina total. No experimento II utilizaram-se 240 frangos de corte machos, Avian Farms, de 22 a 42 dias de idade, com peso médio inicial de 541 g, submetidos a alta temperatura (25,6 o). A ração basal continha 19,57% de PB, 3.100 kcal EM/kg e 0,88% de lisina total, e foi suplementada com 0,000; 0,076; 0,153; 0,230 e 0,306% de L-lisina HCL, resultando em rações com 0,88; 0,94; 1,00; 1,06 e 1,12% de lisina total. No experimento I, verificou-se que os tratamentos influenciaram quadraticamente o ganho de peso (GP), a conversão alimentar (CA), o peso absoluto do fígado e a taxa de deposição de proteína (TDP) e linearmente o consumo de lisina total. Não se constatou efeito dos tratamentos sobre o consumo de ração (CR), a taxa de deposição de gordura (TDG), e pesos, absoluto e relativo, do coração e intestino e o peso relativo de fígado. No experimento II, não se verificou efeito dos tratamentos sobre o CR, os pesos absoluto do coração, fígado e intestino e os pesos relativo de coração, fígado, moelas, pulmão e intestino. Foi observado efeito quadrático dos tratamentos sobre a TDG, a TDP, os pesos absolutos da carcaça, do peito, da gordura abdominal e os pesos relativos do peito e da gordura abdominal. Os pesos absolutos da moela e do pulmão também variaram de forma quadrática em razão dos tratamentos. Concluiu-se que a exigência de lisina para frangos de corte de 1 a 21 dias e de 22 a 42 dias de idade foi de 1,24 e de 1,05 %, respectivamente. Two experiments were conduced to establish the requirement of total lysine for male broilers, in the initial and growing phase in environments of high temperature. In the Ι experiment, 400 male broilers Avian Farms, from 1 to 21 days of age were used and kept at high temperature (29oC). The basal ration contained 21% of crude protein (PB), 3000 kcal metabolizable energy (EM)/kg and 1.04% of total lysine, and it was supplemented with 0.000; 0.076; 0.153; 0.230 and 0.306% of L-lysine HCL, resulting in experimental rations with 1.04; 1.10; 1.16; 1.22 and 1.28% of total lysine. In the ΙΙ experiment, 240 male broilers Avian Farms from 22 to 42 days of age were used, with initial average weight of 541 g, kept in high temperature (25,6oC). The basal ration contained 19.57% of PB, 3100 kcal EM/kg and 0.88% of total lysine, and it was supplemented with 0.000; 0.076; 0.153; 0.230 and 0.306% of L-lysine HCL, resulting in experimental rations with 0.88; 0.94; 1.00; 1.06 and 1.12% of total lysine. In the Ι experiment, it was verified that the treatments influenced quadratically the weight gain (WG), the feed: gain ratio (FG), the absolute weight of liver and the protein deposition rate (TDP). The total lysine intake xchanged of linear way. Effect of the treatments was not observed on the feed intake (FI), fat deposition rate (FDR), and absolute and relative weight of heart and intestine and the relative weight of liver. In the ΙΙ experiment, the treatments did not influence the FI, the absolute weights of heart, liver and intestine and the relative weights of heart, liver, gizzards, lung and intestine. Quadratic effect of the treatments was observed on FDR, PDR, the absolute weights of carcass, breast, the abdominal fat and the relative weights of breast and of abdominal fat. The absolute weights of gizzard and of lung also changed in a quadratic way in reason of the treatments. It was concluded that the lysine requirements for male broilers from 1 to 21 days and from 22 to 42 days of age was of 1.24 and of 1.05%, respectively.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Neste estudo foram desenvolvidos dois experimentos, com o objetivo de determinar a exigência de treonina para suínos mestiços (LD x LW) com alto potencial genético, leitões dos 6 aos 15 kg e leitoas dos 30 aos 60 kg. No experimento I, utilizaram-se 75 leitões, em delineamento em blocos casualizados, com cinco tratamentos, cinco repetições e três animais por unidade experimental. No experimento II, utilizaram-se 40 leitoas, em delineamento em blocos casualizados, com cinco tratamentos, quatro repetições e dois animais por unidade experimental. No experimento I, os tratamentos consistiram de uma ração basal com 18% de proteína bruta (PB) e 1,108% de lisina total, suplementada com cinco níveis de L-treonina, resultando em rações com 0,68; 0,73; 0,78; 0,83; e 0,88% de treonina total. Os níveis de treonina influenciaram de forma quadrática o ganho de peso médio diário, o consumo de ração diário e a conversão alimentar, que aumentaram até o nível de 0,77; 0,73; e 0,82% respectivamente. Os tratamentos não influenciaram as taxas de deposição de gordura e deposição de proteína. No experimento II, os tratamentos consistiram de uma ração basal com 18% PB e 0,928% de lisina total, suplementada com cinco níveis de L-treonina, resultando em rações com 0,60; 0,65; 0,70; 0,75; e 0,80% de treonina total. Observou-se efeito linear dos níveis de treonina da ração sobre o ganho de peso médio diário e variação quadrática sobre o consumo de ração diário, que melhorou até o nível de 0,66% de treonina. Os tratamentos também influenciaram de forma quadrática a conversão alimentar e a taxa de deposição de proteína até o nível de 0,71%. O teor de uréia no soro sangüíneo não foi influenciado. Concluiu-se que a exigência de treonina total para suínos com alto potencial genético para deposição de carne magra foi de 0,82 e 0,71%, respectivamente, para leitões dos 6 aos 15 kg e para leitoas dos 30 aos 60 kg. Two experiments were carried out to determine the threonine requirement for crossbred swine (LD x LW) with high genetic potential, piglets from 6 to 15 kg and gilts from 30 to 60 kg. In the experiment I, 75 piglets were assigned to a randomized blocks design, with five treatments, five replicates and three animals by experimental unit. In the experiment II, 40 gilts were assigned to a randomized blocks design, with five treatments, four replicates and two animals by experimental unit. In the experiment I, the treatments consisted of basal diet with 18% crude protein (CP) and 1.108% total lysine, supplemented with five levels of L-threonine, resulting in diets with .68, .73, .78, .83, and .88% total threonine. The threonine levels quadractly influenced average daily weight gain, daily feed intake and feed:gain ratio, that increased up to .77, .73, and .82%, respectively. Fat and protein deposition rates were not influenced by the treatments. In the experiment II, the treatments consisted of a basal diet with 18% CP and .928% total lysine, supplemented with five levels of L-threonine, resulting in diets with .60, .65, .70, .75, and .80% total threonine. It was observed linear effect of dietary threonine levels on average daily weight gain and quadratic variation on daily feed intake, that improved up to .66% of threonine. The treatments also quadractly influenced feed:gain ratio and protein deposition rate up to .71%. The urea content in the blood serum was not affected. It was concluded that the total threonine requirement for swine with high genetic potential for lean meat was .82 and .71%, respectively, for piglets from 6 to 15 kg and for gilts from 30 to 60 kg.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Foram realizados sete ensaios de digestibilidade com suínos utilizando- se dietas-referência, chamadas de dieta-referência alternativa ou dieta- referência convencional, contendo teores de proteína bruta e energia digestível, que quando acrescidas de alimentos teste, estavam acima ou abaixo das exigências dos animais objetivando-se verificar se os valores obtidos para proteína digestível, matéria seca digestível e energia digestível dos alimentos estão sendo sub ou superestimados e consequentemente verificar se os valores de digestibilidade dos nutrientes dos alimentos para suínos obtidos desta forma apresentam variações entre si. Foi realizada a análise estatística de experimento inteiramente casualizado com treze tratamentos e quatro ou três repetições por tratamento e análise de contrastes não ortogonais de acordo com os procedimentos de BONFERRONI, a 10% de probabilidade para se compararem os contrastes das médias. Com relação aos resultados dos alimentos protéicos não foram encontradas diferenças significativas para os dados obtidos entre as duas dietas-referência. Foram verificadas diferenças percentuais consideráveis nos valores de digestibilidade de alguns alimentos entre as duas dietas-referência, que permitiram deduzir que a dieta-referência alternativa, no caso de alimentos com altos conteúdos de proteína bruta, mesmo contendo também teores variáveis de fibra bruta, é mais acurada para se determinar os valores de energia digestível dos alimentos, porém é menos acurada para se determinar os valores de proteína digestível e ainda que na dieta-referência alternativa ocorre superestimação da proteína digestível e na dieta-referência convencional ocorre superestimação da energia digestível. Verificaram-se diferenças significativas no coeficiente de digestibilidade da energia bruta (CDEB), na energia digestível (ED) e na energia metabolizável (EM) entre as dietas-referências alternativa e convencional quando se compararam os resultados de alimentos altamente energéticos, tendo sido os valores obtidos com a dieta-referência alternativa superiores aos valores obtidos com a dieta-referência convencional. Não se verificaram diferenças significativas para coeficiente de digestibilidade da proteína bruta (CDPB), CDEB, coeficiente de metabolizabilidade da energia digestível (CMED), proteína digestível (PD), energia digestível (ED), energia metabolizável (EM) e matéria seca digestível (MSD) entre as dietas-referência para milho e farelo de trigo. Entretanto verificou-se uma diferença de 26,2% no teor de ED e de 22,0% no teor de EM entre as duas técnicas para o farelo de trigo, tendo sido os valores obtidos com a técnica alternativa superiores aos obtidos com a técnica convencional. Não se verificaram diferenças significativas para CDPB, CDEB, CMED, PD, ED, EM e MSD entre as técnicas para farelo de algodão e para o farelo de trigo, porém verificou-se uma diferença de 20,0% no teor de ED e de 19,0% no teor de EM, em favor da técnica convencional para o farelo de algodão e de 26,2% no teor de ED e de 22,0% no teor de EM, em favor da técnica alternativa para o farelo de trigo. Foram verificadas diferenças significativas para ED quando se compararam todos os alimentos energéticos testados. Assim pode-se inferir que com a técnica alternativa se obtêm resultados de digestibilidade da ED dos alimentos energéticos e ou fibrosos mais confiáveis. Também conduziu-se um ensaio de digestibilidade fazendo-se uso dos valores obtidos por alimento com as dietas-referência alternativa e convencional visando-se validar estes valores. Os resultados obtidos confirmaram a acurácia da determinação de valores de digestibilidade de nutrientes de alimentos através de uma dieta-referência alternativa, de onde se pode concluir que a dieta-referência alternativa é mais acurada para a determinação da ED de alimentos utilizados para suínos. Seven digestibility assys were accomplished with pigs being used diet- reference, calls of alternative diet-reference or conventional diet-reference, contends texts of gross protein and digestible energy, that when are included feedstuffs test, was above or below the demands of the animals being objectified to verify the values obtained for digestible protein (DP), digestible dry matter (DDM) and digestible energy (DE) of the feedstuffs is being sub or overestimated and consequently to verify the values of digestibility of the nutrients of the feeds obtained for pigs for this way presents variations to each other. The statistical analysis of experiment was accomplished casualizado entirely with thirteen treatments and four or three repetitions for treatment and analysis of non orthogonals contrasts in agreement with the procedures of BONFERRONI, at 10% of probability for if they compare the contrasts of the averages. With relationship to the results of the proteic feedstuffs were not found significant differences for the data obtained among the two diet-reference. Considerable percentile differences were verified in the digestibility values of some feeds among the two diet-reference, that allowed to deduce that the xialternative diet-reference, in the case of feeds with gross, same high protein contents also contends variable texts of gross fiber, it is more adequate to determine the values of digestible energy of the feeds, even so it is less adequate to determine the values of digestible protein and although in the alternative diet-reference it happens overestimative of the digestible protein and in the conventional diet-reference it happens overestimative of the digestible energy. Significant differences were verified in gross energy digestible coeficient (GEDC), in digestible energy (DE) and in the metabolizable energy (ME) among the diet-references alternative and conventional when the results of feedstuffs were compared highly energy, having been the values obtained with the superior alternative diet-reference to the values obtained with the conventional diet-reference. Significant differences were not verified for gross protein digestible coeficient (GPDC) , gross energy digestible coeficient (GEDC), metabolizability of digestible energy coeficient (MDEC), DP, DE, ME and DDM among the diet-reference for corn and wheat meal. However a difference of 26,2% was verified in the text of DE and of 22,0% in the text of ME among the two techniques for the wheat meal, having been the values obtained with the superior technique alternative to the obtained with the conventional technique. Significant differences were not verified for GPDC, GEDC, MDEC, DP, DE, ME and DDM among the techniques for cotton farelo and for the wheat farelo, even so a difference of 20,0% was verified in the text of DE and of 19,0% in the text of IN, in favor of the conventional technique for the cotton meal and of 26,2% in the text of DE and of 22,0% in the text of ME, in favor of the alternative technique for the wheat meal. Significant differences were verified for DE when all the tested energy feedstuffs were compared. It can be inferred like this that with the alternative technique are obtained results of digestibilidade of DE of the energy victuals and or fibrous more reliable. This also behaved a digestibility assay being made use of the values obtained by food with them alternative and conventional diet-reference being sought to validate these values. The obtained results confirmed the quality of the determination of values of digestibility of nutrients of feeds through an alternative diet-reference, from where can conclude that the alternative diet-reference is more adequate for the determination of DE of feedstuffs used for pigs.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Foram utilizadas 50 marrãs mestiças com média de peso de 136,34 ±16,05 kg e idade média de 220 dias, em experimento para avaliar o efeito dos níveis de proteína bruta (10,0; 11,5; 13,0; 14,5 e 16,0%) da ração durante a gestação, sobre o desempenho da fêmea e da leitegada. O experimento foi realizado no Setor de Suinocultura do Departamento de Zootecnia da Universidade Federal de Viçosa, em Viçosa, MG. Durante a gestação foi observado efeito do nível de proteína bruta sobre o ganho de peso da porca e peso do leitão ao nascer, que aumentaram linearmente. Não houve efeito do nível de proteína sobre o número de leitões nascidos, mas houve efeito linear crescente sobre o ganho diário sobre o ganho diário de peso do leitão durante a lactação. O consumo de ração pela porca na lactação e o número de leitões desmamados foram influenciados de forma quadrática pelos níveis de proteína da ração de gestação. A perda de peso relativo da fêmea na lactação, foi influenciada linearmente (efeito negativo) pelo nível de proteína bruta na ração de gestação. O nível de proteína não influenciou o intervalo desmamacio , mas a estimativa da melhor utilização de energia pela porca lactante foi influenciado quadraticamente. Concluiu-se que o nível de proteína bruta que melhor atendeu as exigências protéicas para marrãs no período gestacional foi 13,31%, associado a um consumo de 240 g/dia de proteína bruta. Fifty crossbred gilts, were used with average of weight of 136,34 kg and average age of 220 days, in experiment to evaluate the effect of the levels of crude protein (10; 11,5; 13; 14,5 and 16%) during the gestation, on the development of the female and of the litter. The experiment was conducted out in the swine production sector, of the Department of Zootecnia, in the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, MG. During the gestation effect of the level of crude protein was observed on the earnings of weight of the nut and weight of the pig when being born, that increased linearly. There was not effect of the protein level on the number of born pigs, but there was lineal effect on the earnings diary of weight of the pig during the nursing. The ration consumption for the nut in the nursing and the number of weaned pigs was influenced by the levels of protein of the diet of gestation quadractly. The loss of relative weight of the female in the nursing was affected linearly by the level of crude protein in the gestation diet. The protein level didn't affect the rut after it weans, but the estimate of the best use of energy for the lactic nut quadractly was influenced. It was ended that the level of crude protein that best assisted the demands protein for gilts in the period pregnancy it was 13%.

Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais Foram realizados dois ensaios de digestibilidade no Setor de Suinocultura, do Departamento de Zootecnia, da Universidade Federal de Viçosa, MG, com o objetivo de determinar os coeficientes de digestibilidade ileal aparente (CDapPB) e verdadeira (CDvPB) de proteína e os coeficientes de digestibilidade ileal aparente (CDapAA) e verdadeira (CDvAA) de aminoácidos do farelo de soja (FS), glúten de milho (GM), da farinha de carne e ossos (FCO) e farinha de sangue (FSA), utilizando as técnicas da cânula T simples e da anastomose íleo-retal (exceto para FSA), com suínos. Os CDapPB e CDvPB determinados para o FS, GM, FCO e FSA, utilizando-se a técnica da cânula T simples, foram de 72,00 e 88,40%; 73,52 e 89,50%; 53,71 e 70,50%; e 46,58 e 63,20%, respectivamente. Os CDvAA médios determinados para FS, GM, FCO e FSA, utilizando-se a técnica da cânula T simples, foram de 91,12; 90,41; 71,93; e 64,70%, respectivamente. Os CDvAA variaram de 84,70% (alanina) a 96,21% (arginina), para o FS; de 81,45% (triptofano) a 93,98% (histidina), para o GM; 56,64% (ácido aspártico) a 84,00% (arginina), para a FCO; e 63,21% (valina) a 76,80% (isoleucina), para a FSA. Os CDapPB e CDvPB determinados para FS, GM e FCO utilizando-se a técnica da anastomose íleo-retal, foram de 80,93 e 91,32%; 78,4 1 e 88,52%; e 50,65 e 61,26%, respectivamente. Os CDvAA médios determinados para FS, GM e FCO, utilizando-se a técnica da anastomose íleo-retal, foram de 91,70; 88,91 e 61,83%, respectivamente. Os CDvAA variaram de 82,27% (glicina) a 97,97% (tirosina), para o FS; 65,22% (glicina) a 97,27% (arginina), para o GM; e 24,89% (cisteína) a 73,59% (fenilalanina), para a FCO. Os CDapPB, CDvPB, CDapAA, CDvAA dos alimentos de origem vegetal (FS e GM) foram maiores que os coeficientes de digestibilidade dos alimentos de origem animal (FCO e FSA), indicando que o FS e o GM foram alimentos de maior qualidade nutricional. A composição química e os coeficientes de digestibilidade determinados neste trabalho podem ser utilizados como referência da composição protéica e aminoacídica e valores de digestibilidade do FS, GM, FCO e FSA para a formulação de dietas para suínos com base em aminoácidos digestíveis. Two experiments of digestibility were carried out in the swine production sector, of the Department of Zootecnia, in the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, MG, with the objective of determining the coefficients of apparent (CDapPB) and true ileal protein digestibility (CDvPB) and the coefficients of apparent (CDapAA) and true ileal amino acids digestibility (CDvAA) of the soybean meal (FS), corn gluten meal (GM), meat and bone meal (FCO) and blood meal (FSA), using the techniques of the simple T-canula and of the ileo- rectal anastomosis (except for FSA), with pigs. CDapPB and CDvPB determined for FS, GM, FCO and FSA being used the technique of the simple T-canula were of 72,00 and 88,40%; 73,52 and 89,50%; 53,71 and 70,50% and, 46,58 and 63,20%, respectively. The means of CDvAA determined for FS, GM, FCO and FSA being used the technique of the simple T-canula were 91,12; 90,41; 71,93 and 64,70%, respectively. CDvAA ranging of 84,70% (alanine) to 96,21% (arginine), for FS; of 81,45% (tryptophan) to 93,98% (histidine), for GM; of 56,64% (acid aspartic) to 84,00% (arginine), for FCO and 63,21% (valine) to 76,80% (isoleucine), for FSA. CDapPB and CDvPB determined for FS, GM and FCO being used the technique of the ileo-rectal anastomosis were of 80,93 and 91,32%; 78,41 and 88,52% and, 50,65 and 61,26%, respectively. The means of CDvAA determined for FS, GM and FCO being used the technique of the ileo- rectal anastomosis were 91,70; 88,91 and 61,83%, respectively. CDvAA ranging of 82,27% (glycine) to 97,97% (tyrosine), for FS; 65,22% (glycine) to 97,27% (arginine), for GM and 24,89% (cystine) to 73,59% (phenylalanine), for FCO. CDapPB, CDvPB, CDapAA, CDvAA of the feedstufs of plant origin (FS and GM) were larger than the coefficients of digestibility of the feedstufs of animal origin (FCO and FSA), indicating that FS and GM were feedstufs of larger nutritional quality. The chemical composition and the coefficients of digestibility determined in this work can be used like reference of the protein and amino acids composition and values of digestibility of FS, GM, FCO and FSA for the formulation of diets for pigs based in digestibles amino acids.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Quatro experimentos foram conduzidos com 59 suínos mestiços (Large White – Landrace) em fase de crescimento com o objetivo de estudar o efeito do nível de carunchamento sobre a composição química e valores de digestibilidade de nutrientes e da energia do milho para suínos em crescimento. O primeiro experimento constituiu-se de análise da composição química do milho com diferentes níveis de carunchamento. Com base nos resultados conclui-se que o aumento do nível de carunchamento provocou aumento linear do teor de matéria seca, fibra bruta e cinzas, e efeito quadrático sobre o extrato não nitrogenado, a gordura, a proteína bruta, a densidade e a energia bruta do milho. Não se detectou a presença de micotoxinas (aflatoxinas, ochratoxina e zearelenona) e de partes de insetos, entretanto, a composição aminoacídica dos grãos foi alterada com o aumento no nível de carunchamento. O segundo experimento envolveu 15 suínos em fase de crescimento (cinco tratamentos e três repetições) em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado para avaliação da energia digestível e metabolizável, e coeficientes de digestibilidade da proteína bruta, extrato etéreo e fibra bruta do milho com diferentes níveis de carunchamento. A elevação do nível de carunchamento do milho provocou alterações na digestibilidade dos grãos reduzindo o nível de energia digestível e o coeficiente de digestibilidade do extrato etéreo do milho, mas não alterou o coeficiente de digestibilidade da proteína bruta, da fibra bruta e da energia metabolizável. O terceiro experimento envolveu quatro suínos em fase de crescimento, anastomosados, arranjados em delineamento de quadrado latino para determinação da digestibilidade ileal verdadeira dos aminoácidos do milho com diferentes níveis de carunchamento. Foi verificado efeito de tratamento apenas sobre o aminoácido valina. O quarto experimento envolveu 40 suínos em fase de crescimento (cinco tratamento e duas repetições com quatro animais por unidade experimental) em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Verificou-se efeito do tratamento sobre a digestibilidade ileal verdadeira dos aminoácidos serina e tirosina. As duas técnicas (anastomose íleo-retal e sacrifício) chegaram a valores e resultados diferentes. A técnica do sacrifício obteve valores mais coerentes com a literatura e com menor coeficiente de variação além de ser uma técnica menos combatida pelos defensores do bem estar animal do que a técnica da anastomose íleo retal. Four experiments were conducted with 59 growing pigs (Large White - Landrace) with the objective of studying the effect of the wormy level on the chemical composition and values of digestibility of nutrients and of the energy of the corn for growing pigs. The first experiment was constituted of analysis of the chemical composition of the corn with different wormy. Based in the results is concluded that the increase of the wormy level caused linear increase on the dry matter, crude fiber and ashes, and, quadratic effect on the non nitrogen extract, fat, crude protein, density and crude energy of the corn. The micotoxins (aflatoxins, ochratoxin and zearelenon) and parts of insects presence was not detected, however, the amino acid composition of the grains was altered with the increase in the wormy level. The second experiment involved 15 growing pigs (five treatments and three replicates) in a completely randomized design for evaluation of the digestible and metabolizabel energy, and coefficients of digestibility of the crude protein, ether extract and crude fiber of the corn with different wormy levels. The elevation of the wormy level of the corn caused changes in the digestibility of the grains reducing the level of digestible energy and the coefficient of digestibility of the ether extract of the corn, but it didn't change the coefficient of digestibility of the crude protein, crude fiber and of the metabolizable energy. The third experiment involved four anastomosed growing pigs, in a latin square design for determination of the true ileal digestibility of the amino acids of the corn with different wormy levels. Treatment effect was verified only on the amino acid valin. The fourth experiment involved 40 growimg pigs (five treatment and two replicates with four animals for experimental unit) in a completely randomized design for determination of the true ileal digestibility of the amino acids of the corn with different wormy levels. Effect of the treatment was verified on the true ileal digestibility of the amino acids serin and tirosin. The two techniques (ileum-rectal anastomosis and slaughter) obtained different values and different results. The slaughter technique obtained more coherent values with the literature and with smaller variation coefficient, besides being a technique less combatted by the defenders of the wellfare animal than the ileum-rectal anastomosis technique.
