Mechanical properties and integrity of biodegradable Zn alloys during degradation holds significant importance. In this study, a Zn-Mg-Mn alloy with tensile strength of 414 MPa and an elongation of 26% was developed. The strength contributions of as-extruded Zn alloy from grain boundary strengthening, precipitation strengthening, and second phase strengthening. Degradation of the Zn alloy in Hank's solution exhibited a decreasing trend with prolonged immersion, eventually stabilizing at 16 μm/year. Corrosion morphology analysis revealed that the corrosion modes transformed from pitting corrosion to severely localized corrosion with prolonged immersion time, eventually lead to formation of large holes. Although the tensile strength of the Zn alloys remained relatively unchanged following varied immersion time, a substantial decrease in elongation was observed. The decreased elongation primarily attributed to the formation of surface corrosion pits or holes, exacerbating crack propagation during tension. Biocompatibility assessments of Zn alloys demonstrated that a 50% concentration of Zn alloy leach solution cultured with C3H10 and RMSC cells yielded cellular activity exceeding 80%, indicating excellent cytocompatibility. In the process of oilfield development, the surfactant–polymer (SP) composite system has shown significant effects in enhancing oil recovery (EOR) due to its excellent interfacial activity and viscoelastic properties. However, with the continuous increase in the volume of composite flooding injection, a decline in injection–production capacity (I/P capacity) has been observed. Through the observation of frozen core slices, it was found that during the secondary composite flooding (SCF) process, a large amount of residual oil in the form of intergranular adsorption remained in the core pores. This phenomenon suggests that the displacement efficiency of the composite flooding may be affected. Research has shown that polymers undergo flocculation reactions with clay minerals (such as kaolinite, Kln) in the reservoir, leading to the formation of high-viscosity mixtures of migrating particles and crude oil (CO). These high-viscosity mixtures accumulate in local pores, making it difficult to further displace them, which causes oil trapping and negatively affects the overall displacement efficiency of secondary composite flooding (SCF). To explore this mechanism, this study used a microscopic visualization displacement model (MVDM) and microscopy techniques to observe the migration of particles during secondary composite flooding. By using kaolinite water suspension (Kln-WS) to simulate migrating particles in the reservoir, the displacement effects of the composite flooding system on the kaolinite water suspension, crude oil, and their mixtures were observed. Experimental results showed that the polymer, acting as a flocculant, promoted the flocculation of kaolinite during the displacement process, thereby increasing the viscosity of crude oil and affecting the displacement efficiency of secondary composite flooding. Sugarcane Pokkah Boeng (PB), a fungal disease caused by Fusarium spp., poses a significant threat to sugar industries globally. Breeding sugarcane varieties resistant to PB has become a priority, and the mining of PB resistance genes and the development of molecular markers provide a solid foundation for this purpose. This work comprehensively analyzes the genetic components of sugarcane's resistance to PB using transcriptome sequencing. A segregating population was created by crossing the susceptible parent ROC25 with the resistant parent Yunzhe89-7, which is a traditional cultivar known for its PB resistance. Transcriptome analysis uncovered many differentially expressed genes (DEGs) associated with PB resistance. Utilizing weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), we identified gene modules closely related to disease phenotypes. We annotated their functions with bioinformatics tools, particularly focusing on genes enriched in the plant immune response's MAPK signaling pathway and ABC transporter synthesis pathways. In addition, by integrating whole-genome resequencing data of parental lines and transcriptome data of progeny, we identified a series of putative molecular markers that potentially effectively differentiate between highly resistant and susceptible materials. Our study provides crucial genetic resources and molecular methodologies that are essential for the advancement of sugarcane varieties with improved resistance to PB. Platinum is widely used as a reduction promoter in transition metal heterogeneous catalysts, while its effects on the catalyst's properties and CO hydrogenation behavior remain unclear. In this study, an improvement in the reducibility of platinum-promoted catalysts is observed. Notably, platinum suppresses the aggregation of cobalt nanoparticles (CoNPs) during catalyst preparation, as evidenced by STEM/TEM and XRD analyses, which reveal the presence of smaller CoNPs and weakened cobalt diffraction in platinum-promoted catalysts. In addition, platinum also promotes the formation of more active hexagonal close-packed (hcp) cobalt but inhibits metal-support interaction (MSI). Therefore, the cobalt-time yield (CTY) for CO hydrogenation in the promoted catalyst is strongly improved, and, furthermore, its intrinsic activity (turnover frequency, TOF) is also slightly increased. Disruption of mitochondrial function is observed in multiple drug-induced liver injuries (DILIs), a significant global health threat. However, how the mitochondrial dysfunction occurs and whether maintain mitochondrial homeostasis is beneficial for DILIs remains unclear. Here, we show that defective mitophagy by OPTN (optineurin) ablation causes disrupted mitochondrial homeostasis and aggravates hepatocytes necrosis in DILIs, while OPTN overexpression protects against DILI depending on its mitophagic function. Notably, mass spectrometry analysis identifies a new mitochondrial substrate, GCDH (glutaryl-CoA dehydrogenase), which can be selectively recruited by OPTN for mitophagic degradation, and a new cofactor, VCP (valosin containing protein) that interacts with OPTN to stabilize BECN1 during phagophore assembly, thus boosting OPTN-mediated mitophagy initiation to clear damaged mitochondria and preserve mitochondrial homeostasis in DILIs. Then, the accumulation of OPTN in different DILIs is further validated with a protective effect, and pyridoxine is screened and established to alleviate DILIs by inducing OPTN-mediated mitophagy. Collectively, our findings uncover a dual role of OPTN in mitophagy initiation and implicate the preservation of mitochondrial homeostasis via inducing OPTN-mediated mitophagy as a potential therapeutic approach for DILIs. With the persistent rise in global energy demand, the efficient extraction of petroleum resources has become an urgent and critical issue. Polymer flooding technology, widely employed for enhancing crude oil recovery, still lacks an in-depth understanding of the distribution of residual oil within the microscopic pore structure and the associated displacement mechanisms. To address this, a digital pore network model was established based on mercury intrusion experimental data, and pore structure visualization was achieved through 3Dmax software, simulating the oil displacement process under various polymer concentrations, molecular weights, and interfacial tension conditions. The findings reveal that moderately increasing the polymer concentration (from 1000 [mg/L] to 2000 [mg/L]) improves the recovery factor during polymer flooding by approximately 1.45%, effectively emulsifying larger masses of residual oil and reducing the proportion of throats with high oil saturation. However, when the concentration exceeds 2500 [mg/L], the dispersion of residual oil is hindered, and the enhancement in displacement efficiency becomes marginal. Increasing the molecular weight from 12 million to 16 million and subsequently to 24 million elevates the recovery factor by approximately 1.07% and 1.37%, respectively, reducing clustered residual oil while increasing columnar residual oil; high molecular weight polymers exhibit a more significant effect on channels with high oil saturation. Lowering the interfacial tension (from 30 [mN/m] to 0.005 [mN/m]) markedly enhances the binary flooding recovery factor, with the overall recovery reaching 71.72%, effectively reducing the residual oil within pores of high oil saturation. The study concludes that adjusting polymer concentration, molecular weight, and interfacial tension can optimize the microscopic distribution of residual oil, thereby enhancing oil displacement efficiency and providing a scientific foundation for further improving oilfield recovery and achieving efficient reservoir development. The convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm in deep learning has been widely applied in petroleum geology research both domestically and internationally. Automated and accurate segmentation of thin-section images of rocks is foundational for in-depth analysis. However, traditional segmentation methods for reservoir rock thin sections often suffer from low accuracy and high cost. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel segmentation algorithm based on an improved UNet network, integrating residual networks and the CBAM attention mechanism. By incorporating residual modules, the network depth is expanded, and the CBAM attention mechanism enhances the feature weighting capability during learning. Experimental results demonstrate that this method outperforms traditional approaches in both segmentation accuracy and efficiency, representing significant advancements in reservoir rock thin-section image segmentation. As a critical component of the variable cycle engine (VCE), the variable cycle core compression system (VCCCS) necessitates exceptional performance stability across a wide range of operating conditions. This research delves into the effects of varying the angles of variable inlet guide vanes (VIGV) on the thermodynamic characteristics and internal flow structure of the VCCCS under wide-range operational adjustments. The results reveal that modulating the VIGV significantly broadens the operating envelope of the VCCCS, extending the range of stable and efficient operation from a single curve to a surface. Moreover, adjusting the VIGV reconfigures the load distribution among VCCCS components, consequently altering the internal flow structure. The relationship between aerodynamic losses and entropy distribution in VCCCS components at different VIGV angles has been clarified. Closing the VIGV reduces the secondary flow losses and the extent of high-entropy regions within the core driven fan stage (CDFS) passage, while having a relatively minor impact on the losses in the high-pressure compressor (HPC). The evolution of the feasible domain of the bypass ratio and the mechanisms of adjustment limitation are uncovered. Notably, when the VIGV is adjusted from −20° to 50°, the sources of flow instability within the VCCCS under extreme boundary conditions exhibit three distinct changes. Additionally, a correlation has been established between the VIGV configurations and the thermodynamic characteristics of the VCCCS, thereby providing valuable insights for the design of efficient operation across a wide range of operating conditions. Clogging in the prefabricated vertical drains (PVDs) and soils is an inherent feature associated with vacuum treatment of slurry ground. The clogging column is characterized by nonlinear growth of volume over time and nonlinear permeability distribution along the radial direction. This study aims to develop a drain-well consolidation model for vacuum treatment of dredged slurry, with specific considerations of the nonlinear behaviors of the clogging column and PVD drainage capacity. The constitutive compression and permeation behaviors of the dredged slurry are described by extended power functions, which avoids the singularities associated with the conventional logarithmic constitutive equations when the effective consolidation stress approaches zero. Parametric studies were conducted to explore the consolidation effects while considering different combinations of parameters that govern the nonlinear behaviors of the clogging column and PVD-drainage capacity. The significance of considering the abovementioned nonlinear behaviors was demonstrated by comparing the field test results on a dredged slurry ground. Results indicate that clogging primarily affects consolidation by causing a nonlinear permeability distribution along the radial direction of the clogging column and nonlinear attenuation of PVD-drainage capacity. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a foetal malignancy with dismal overall survival. The molecular mechanism underlying the progression of HCC remain largely unknown. LYR motif containing 2 (LYRM2) has been identified as an oncogene in colorectal cancer; however, its expression, functions and molecular mechanism in the context of HCC has not been investigated. Data derived from The Cancer Gemome Atlas, along with findings from our patients' cohort, indicate that LYRM2 expression is elevated in HCC tissues and correlates with adverse clinicopathological features and prognosis in HCC patients. Subsequent research into the biological functions of LYRM2 has revealed that it promotes the proliferation, migration, invasion and epithelial‐mesenchymal transition of HCC cells, both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistic insights have shown that LYRM2 interacts with HIF‐1α, enhancing the protein stability of HIF‐1α, which in turn increases cellular glycolysis and inhibits mitochondrial respiration. Moreover, the glucose metabolic reprogramming mediated by LYRM2 is implicated in its role in promoting HCC growth and metastasis. Collectively, this study identifies that LYRM2 as a novel oncogenic protein in HCC and elucidates its contribution to HCC progression through enhancing HIF‐1α‐dependent glucose metabolic reprogramming. Both the roots and leaves of American ginseng contain ginsenosides and polyphenols. The impact of thermal processing on enhancing the biological activities of the root by altering its component composition has been widely reported. However, the effects of far-infrared irradiation (FIR), an efficient heat treatment method, on the bioactive components of the leaves remain to be elucidated. In the present study, we investigated the effects of FIR heat treatment between 160 and 200 °C on the deglycosylation and dehydration rates of the bioactive components in American ginseng leaves. As the temperature was increased, the amounts of common ginsenosides decreased while those of rare ginsenosides increased. After FIR heat treatment of American ginseng leaves at an optimal 190 °C, the highest total polyphenolic content and kaempferol content were detected, the antioxidant activity was significantly enhanced, and the amounts of the rare ginsenosides F4, Rg6, Rh4, Rk3, Rk1, Rg3, and Rg5 were 41, 5, 37, 64, 222, 17, and 266 times higher than those in untreated leaves, respectively. Moreover, the radical scavenging rates for 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2′-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) and the reducing power of the treated leaf extracts were 2.17, 1.86, and 1.77 times higher, respectively. Hence, FIR heat treatment at 190 °C is an efficient method for producing beneficial bioactive components from American ginseng leaves.

Chrysoviruses are isometric virus particles (35–50 nm in diameter) with a genome composed of double-stranded RNAs (dsRNA). These viruses belonged to the Chrysoviridae family, named after the first member isolated from Penicillium chrysogenum. Phylogenetic classification has divided the chrysoviruses into Alphachrysovirus and Betachrysovirus genera. Currently, these chrysoviruses have been found to infect many fungi, including Fusarium species, and cause changes in the phenotype and decline in the pathogenicity of the host. Thus, it is a microbial resource with great biocontrol potential against Fusarium species, causing destructive plant diseases and substantial economic losses. This review provides a comprehensive overview of three chrysovirus isolates (Fusarium graminearum virus 2 (FgV2), Fusarium graminearum virus-ch9 (FgV-ch9), and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. dianthi mycovirus 1 (FodV1)) reported to decline the pathogenicity of Fusarium hosts. It also summarizes the recent studies on host response regulation, host RNA interference, and chrysovirus transmission. The information provided in the review will be a reference for analyzing the interaction of Fusarium species with chrysovirus and proposing opportunities for research on the biocontrol of Fusarium diseases. Finally, we present reasons for conducting further studies on exploring the interaction between chrysoviruses and Fusarium and improving the accumulation and transmission efficiency of these chrysoviruses.

Experiments and simulations have been carried out to study the colliding process by two lasers irradiating a gold half-hohlraum. Via analyzing the evolutionary x-ray images, radiation fluxes and self-emission spectrum of tracers, influence on the x-ray conversion efficiency and the local plasma temperature $T_{e,i}$ from two gold-plasma plumes have been investigated deeply, which is similar as the configuration in Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF). Experimental results confirm a region with high electron and ion temperatures $T_{e,i}$ are induced, satisfying the strong collision condition of $\lambda_{i} \lt \Delta{L}$ , where λ _i and $\Delta{L}$ are respectively the ion mean-free path and the gradient length of T _e . It leads to almost $30\%$ increasing of M-band component compared to that from a single laser-irradiation case. Meanwhile ion temperature in this region increases more rapidly than electrons, reaching about $T_i\approx(16\pm4)$ keV ( $T_e\approx(2\pm 0.2)$ keV). Thus, our studies provide the experimental evidence of quantitative x-ray enhancement and a non-equilibrium evolution simultaneously due to the plasma collision for the first time. Besides, two-dimensional simulation results reveal that this process can not be precisely described by the traditional shock-heating model by dissipating the shock energy only to ions. But by distributing the viscous heating between both electrons and ions as theoretically discussed by Miller (2020 Comput. Fluids 210 104672), numerical results can match experiments better. This discovery will be of great importance to improve the precision of prediction for ICF.
