BackgroundAs a crucial constituent part of Polycomb repressive complex 2, PHD finger protein 19 (PHF19) plays a pivotal role in epigenetic regulation, and acts as a critical regulator of multiple pathophysiological processes. However, the exact roles of PHF19 in cancers remain enigmatic. The present research was primarily designed to provide the prognostic landscape visualizations of PHF19 in cancers, and study the correlations between PHF19 expression and immune infiltration characteristics in tumor microenvironment.MethodsRaw data in regard to PHF19 expression were extracted from TCGA and GEO data portals. We examined the expression patterns, prognostic values, mutation landscapes, and protein-protein interaction network of PHF19 in pan-cancer utilizing multiple databases, and investigated the relationship of PHF19 expression with immune infiltrates across TCGA-sequenced cancers. The R language was used to conduct KEGG and GO enrichment analyses. Besides, we built a risk-score model of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and validated its prognostic classification efficiency.ResultsOn balance, PHF19 expression was significantly higher in cancers in comparison with that in noncancerous samples. Increased expression of PHF19 was detrimental to the clinical prognoses of cancer patients, especially HCC. There were significant correlations between PHF19 expression and TMB or MSI in several cancers. High PHF19 levels were critically associated with the infiltration of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and Th2 subsets of CD4+ T cells in most cancers. Enrichment analyses revealed that PHF19 participated in regulating carcinogenic processes including cell cycle and DNA replication, and was correlated with the progression of HCC. Intriguingly, GSEA suggested that PHF19 was correlated with the cellular components including immunoglobulin complex and T cell receptor complex in HCC. Based on PHF19-associated functional gene sets, an eleven-gene prognostic signature was constructed to predict HCC prognosis. Finally, we validated pan-cancer PHF19 expression, and its impacts on immune infiltrates in HCC.ConclusionThe epigenetic related regulator PHF19 participates in the carcinogenic progression of multiple cancers, and may contribute to the immune infiltration in tumor microenvironment. Our study suggests that PHF19 can serve as a carcinogenic indicator related to prognosis in pan-cancer, especially HCC, and shed new light on therapeutics of cancers for clinicians.

During long-term operation, the blades of rod fastening rotor are very prone to fault and may cause uneven axial mass distribution. The dynamic characteristics of a multidisk rod fastening rotor with axial unbalance mass distribution are studied. A four-disk rod fastening rotor model was established by the lumped mass method. The mass unbalance on different disks was used to simulate blade faults in different parts, and nonlinear factors such as oil film force and disk contact effect were considered. The fourth-order Runge-Kutta method was used to solve the model, and the spectrum and axis trajectory curves were obtained. The influence of fault location and rotating speed on rotor dynamic characteristics was analysed when there were blade faults on two disks. The results show that a large, unbalanced mass will bring strong nonlinear characteristics. The rod fastening rotor may be in different motion states at different rotating speeds. When the fault position of two disks changes, the changes of bearing spectrum, axis trajectory, and phase difference have regularity. The results can provide a theoretical basis for condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of rod fastening rotor.

In recent years, two-dimensional metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have attracted increased attention for radiation detection and imaging. Their detection efficiencies are almost comparable to three-dimensional (3D) perovskites. Meanwhile, they demonstrate superior stability to 3D perovskites. The pursuit of high-quality, phase-pure and lead-free two-dimensional MHP materials and large-area fabrication capability for x-ray detectors are among the research hotspots. In this review, we first give a brief introduction of the crystallographic structure, optoelectronic characteristics and preparation methods of high-quality two-dimensional perovskites. In addition, we overview the general working principles of direct and indirect x-ray detection processes and the corresponding performance metrics from the perspective of detection and imaging. Furthermore, we provide a comprehensive discussion on the recent advances in 2D perovskite x-ray detectors and imaging devices. Finally, we pinpoint several major obstacles of 2D x-ray detectors that should be overcome in the near future.

Objective: This study aims to compare the cognitive function and social functioning in male patients with deficit syndrome (DS) and non-DS, and to explore whether cognitive function serves as a mediator in the relationship between the two factors of negative symptoms (motivation and pleasure (MAP) and expressivity (EXP) deficits, and social functioning in schizophrenia patients. Methods: One hundred and fifty-six male patients with schizophrenia and 109 age- and education-matched normal controls were enrolled in the current study. The Chinese version of a Schedule for Deficit Syndrome (SDS) was used for DS and non-DS categorization. The Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) and the Brief Negative Symptoms Scale (BNSS) were used to assess psychotic and negative symptoms in patients. The Social-Adaptive Functioning Evaluation (SAFE) was adopted to evaluate patients’ social functioning, and a battery of classical neurocognitive tests was used to assess cognition, including sustained vigilance/attention, cognitive flexibility, ideation fluency, and visuospatial memory. Results: We found that male patients with DS performed worse in all four cognitive domains and social functioning compared to non-DS patients. Both total negative symptoms and its two factors were significantly associated with all four domains of cognition and social functioning in male patients. Interestingly, our results indicate that only cognitive flexibility mediates the relationship between negative symptoms and social functioning in schizophrenia patients, but there were no differences between EXP and MAP negative factors in this model. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that DS patients may represent a unique clinical subgroup of schizophrenia, and the integrated interventions targeting both negative symptoms and cognition, especially cognitive flexibility, may optimally improve functional outcomes in schizophrenia patients.

Landslides along the Three Gorges Reservoir in China pose a threat to coastal residents and waterway safety. To reduce false positive misjudgments caused by a sudden local change in the landslide deformation curve, in this paper, we propose an effective method for predicting the deformation trend of reservoir bank landslides. We take reservoir bank landslides in the Wanzhou District of the Three Gorges Reservoir area as the research object. The Time-Series Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) method and 62 Sentinel-1A images from 2018 to 2022 were selected for landslide deformation monitoring, and the Hurst index was calculated to characterize the deformation trend. Furthermore, we propose a method for predicting the deformation trend based on the statistical distribution of deformation rates and the physical significance of the Hurst index. After the field survey and Global Positioning System (GPS) verification, the Time-Series InSAR results are shown to be reliable. We take the Sifangbei landslide as a representative case to analyze the validation results. It is found that the determined Sifangbei landslide deformation trend is consistent with the conclusions for the region. In addition, the deformation trend of a reservoir bank slope has obvious spatial and temporal differences. Changes in the reservoir water level and concentrated rainfall play roles similar to those of catalysts. The proposed method, involving the combination of Time-Series InSAR and the Hurst index, can effectively monitor deformation and predict the stability trend of reservoir bank landslides. The presented research results provide new ideas and solutions for landslide prevention and risk mitigation in reservoir areas.

Cerebral ischemia impedes the functional or metabolic demands of the central nervous system (CNS), which subsequently leads to irreversible brain damage. While recanalization of blocked vessels recovers cerebral blood flow, it can also aggravate brain injury, termed as ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Exosomes, nanometric membrane vesicles, attracted wide attention as carriers of biological macromolecules. In the brain, exosomes can be secreted by almost all types of cells, and their contents can be altered during the pathological and clinical processes of cerebral I/R injury. Herein, we will review the current literature on the possible role of cargos derived from exosomes and exosomes-mediated intercellular communication in cerebral I/R injury. The PubMed and Web of Science databases were searched through January 2015. The studies published in English were identified using search terms including “exosomes”, “cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury”, “brain ischemia-reperfusion injury”, and “stroke”. We will also focus on the potential therapeutic effects of stem cell-derived exosomes and underlying mechanisms in cerebral I/R injury. Meanwhile, with the advantages of low immunogenicity and cytotoxicity, high bioavailability, and the capacity to pass through the blood–brain barrier, exosomes also attract more attention as therapeutic modalities for the treatment of cerebral I/R injury.

The hardness of materials is a complicated physical quantity, and the hardness models that are widely used do not function well for transition metal light element (TMLE) compounds. The overestimation of actual hardness is a common phenomenon in hardness models. In this work, high-quality Mn3N2 bulk samples were synthesized under high temperature and high pressure (HTHP) to investigate this issue. The hardness of Mn3N2 was found to be 9.9 GPa, which was higher than the hardness predicted using Guo’s model of 7.01 GPa. Through the combination of the first-principle simulations and experimental analysis, it was found that the metal bonds, which are generally considered helpless to the hardness of crystals, are of importance when evaluating the hardness of TMLE compounds. Metal bonds were found to improve the hardness in TMLEs without strong covalent bonds. This work provides new considerations for the design and synthesis of high-hardness TMLE materials, which can be used to form wear-resistant coatings over the surfaces of typical alloy materials such as stainless steels. Moreover, our findings provide a basis for establishing a more comprehensive theoretical model of hardness in TMLEs, which will provide further insight to improve the hardness values of various alloys.

The influence of pre-strain on the fatigue crack growth behavior of Zr702/TA2/Q345R composite plate is studied by experiments and the finite element method. The crack perpendicular to the interface and the through-wall crack are considered at the same time. For the crack perpendicular to the interface, the monotonic plastic zone and cyclic plastic zone at the crack tip are used to study the influence of pre-strain on the plastic zone. Furthermore, the influence of pre-strain on the evolution of the plastic damage at the crack tip is analyzed in detail by studying the variation in the initial plastic energy and equivalent plastic strain. For the through-wall crack, the effect of pre-strain on the propagation behavior of cracks on both sides and the whole crack is studied systematically. The results show that the strengthening of the cracks on the Zr702 side is significantly higher than that on the Q345R side, so the inhibitory effect of pre-strain on the whole crack of the through-wall specimen is mainly due to the increase in the resistance to crack growth on the Zr702 side.

Background: With the global popularity of communication devices such as mobile phones, there are increasing concerns regarding the effect of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR) on the brain, one of the most important organs sensitive to RF-EMR exposure at 1,800 MHz. However, the effects of RF-EMR exposure on neuronal cells are unclear. Neurite outgrowth plays a critical role in brain development, therefore, determining the effects of 1,800 MHz RF-EMR exposure on neurite outgrowth is important for exploring its effects on brain development.Objectives: We aimed to investigate the effects of 1,800 MHz RF-EMR exposure for 48 h on neurite outgrowth in neuronal cells and to explore the associated role of the Rap1 signaling pathway.Material and Methods: Primary hippocampal neurons from C57BL/6 mice and Neuro2a cells were exposed to 1,800 MHz RF-EMR at a specific absorption rate (SAR) value of 4 W/kg for 48 h. CCK-8 assays were used to determine the cell viability after 24, 48, and 72 h of irradiation. Neurite outgrowth of primary hippocampal neurons (DIV 2) and Neuro2a cells was observed with a 20 × optical microscope and recognized by ImageJ software. Rap1a and Rap1b gene expressions were detected by real-time quantitative PCR. Rap1, Rap1a, Rap1b, Rap1GAP, and p-MEK1/2 protein expressions were detected by western blot. Rap1-GTP expression was detected by immunoprecipitation. The role of Rap1-GTP was assessed by transfecting a constitutively active mutant plasmid (Rap1-Gly_Val-GFP) into Neuro2a cells.Results: Exposure to 1,800 MHz RF-EMR for 24, 48, and 72 h at 4 W/kg did not influence cell viability. The neurite length, primary and secondary neurite numbers, and branch points of primary mouse hippocampal neurons were significantly impaired by 48-h RF-EMR exposure. The neurite-bearing cell percentage and neurite length of Neuro2a cells were also inhibited by 48-h RF-EMR exposure. Rap1 activity was inhibited by 48-h RF-EMR with no detectable alteration in either gene or protein expression of Rap1. The protein expression of Rap1GAP increased after 48-h RF-EMR exposure, while the expression of p-MEK1/2 protein decreased. Overexpression of constitutively active Rap1 reversed the decrease in Rap1-GTP and the neurite outgrowth impairment in Neuro2a cells induced by 1,800 MHz RF-EMR exposure for 48 h.Conclusion: Rap1 activity and related signaling pathways are involved in the disturbance of neurite outgrowth induced by 48-h 1,800 MHz RF-EMR exposure. The effects of RF-EMR exposure on neuronal development in infants and children deserve greater focus.

Piezoelectric actuators are widely used in micro/nanoscale robotic manipulators. Due to its hysteresis and dynamic-related nonlinearity, accurate displacement tracking control of piezoelectric actuator is challenging. Besides, in some low-cost practical systems with low sampling rate, transmission delay causes mismatches between feedback and real displacement, further increasing the challenge in tracking control. In this article, a neural network-based model predictive controller (MPC) is proposed for precise tracking control of piezoelectric actuator’s displacement in situation where feedback is slow and delayed. The prediction model is based on a nonlinear-autoregressive-moving-average-with-exogenous-inputs framework, which outputs entire prediction horizon of future displacement in a single time, and is fulfilled by a multilayer feedforward neural network. An extended Kalman filter-based estimation for displacement is introduced to relieve the influence of feedback delays so as to improve dynamic performance of the controller. Another neural network is trained to provide initial values for MPC to reduce computation costs and improve performance in dynamic tracking. In a series of tracking experiments, the effectiveness of proposed controller is verified.

Arsenic is one of the most common environmental pollutants. Neurotoxicity induced by arsenic has become a major public health concern. However, the effects of arsenic-induced neurotoxicity in the brain and the underlying molecular mechanisms are not well understood. N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) is a thiol-based antioxidant that can antagonize heavy metal-induced neurotoxicity by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS). Here, we used the mouse oligodendrocyte precursor cell (OPC) line Oli-neu to explore the neurotoxic effects of arsenic and the protective effects of NAC. We found that arsenic exposure decreased cell viability, increased oxidative stress, caused mitochondrial dysfunction, and led to apoptosis of Oli-neu cells. Furthermore, we revealed that NAC treatment reversed these neurotoxic effects of arsenic. TMEM179, a key membrane protein, was found highly expressed in OPCs and to be an important factor in maintaining mitochondrial functions. We found that TMEM179 played a critical role in mediating the neurotoxic effects of arsenic and the protective role of NAC. PKCβ is a downstream factor through which TMEM179 regulates the expression of apoptosis-related proteins. This study improves our understanding of the neurotoxic effects and mechanisms of arsenic exposure and the protective effects of NAC. It also identifies a potential molecular target, TMEM179, for the treatment of arsenic-induced neurotoxicity.

Objectives: To evaluate the safety and feasibility of a novel surgical technique (“non-triangle plane” technique) of two-port (mini-utility) video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) atypical segmentectomy (S3+S1+2c) with tunneling stapler for small-sized non-small-cell lung cancers (NSCLCs) located in left S3 close to the intersegmental plane between S3 and S1+2c.Materials and Methods: This retrospective descriptive study included 16 patients who, between April 2016 and December 2019, underwent a single two-port (mini-utility) VATS atypical segmentectomy (S3+S1+2c) with tunneling stapler technique for small-sized NSCLCs with a ground-glass opacity (GGO) rate of more than 50% by a constant surgical team in two hospitals. Perioperative data and survival data were collected and retrospectively analyzed. Postoperative follow-up was performed every 6 months.Results: Six patients were with adenocarcinoma in situ, and ten were with minimally invasive adenocarcinoma. The mean surgical margin was 14.06 ± 3.02 mm. The mean operation time was 53.88 ± 9.76 min. The mean duration of chest tube drainage was 4 ± 1.21 days, and the median length of postoperative hospital stay was 4 days. There was no perioperative morbidity and mortality. The median follow-up was 47.5 months (17–61 months). No recurrences occurred, and all patients were still alive at the last registered follow-up (May 31, 2021).Conclusion: Two-port (mini-utility) VATS atypical segmentectomy (S3+S1+2c) with tunneling stapler technique is a safe and feasible option for the treatment of small-sized NSCLCs located in left S3 close to the intersegmental plane between S3 and S1+2c.

Nonlinear multiplexing holography emerges as a powerful tool to produce structured lights at new wavelengths. In this work, we propose and experimentally demonstrate an angle-multiplexing nonlinear holography in an angular noncritical phase-matching configuration. In experiment, various types of structured light beams, such as vortex beam, Airy beam and Airy vortex beam, are simultaneously output at second-harmonic waves along different paths. Because of the large angular acceptance bandwidth of noncritical phase-matching, one can achieve high conversion efficiency of angle-multiplexing nonlinear holography. Our method has potentially applications in high-capacity holographic storage and security encryption.

Deficit schizophrenia (DS), which is marked by stable negative symptoms, is regarded as a homogeneous subgroup of schizophrenia. While DS patients have structurally altered nucleus accumbens (NAcc) compared to non-deficit schizophrenia (NDS) patients and healthy individuals, the investigation of NAcc functional connectivity (FC) with negative symptoms and neurocognition could provide insights into the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. 58 DS, 93 NDS, and 113 healthy controls (HCs) underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance (rsfMRI). The right and left NAcc were respectively used as seed points to construct the functional NAcc network in whole-brain FC analysis. ANCOVA compared the differences in NAcc network FC and partial correlation analysis explored the relationships between altered FC of NAcc, negative symptoms and neurocognition. Compared to HCs, both DS and NDS patients showed decreased FC between the left NAcc (LNAcc) and bilateral middle cingulate gyrus, and between the right NAcc (RNAcc) and right middle frontal gyrus (RMFG), as well as increased FC between bilateral NAcc and bilateral lingual gyrus. Moreover, the FC between the LNAcc and bilateral calcarine gyrus (CAL) was lower in the DS group compared to NDS patients. Correlation analysis indicated that FC value of LNAcc-CAL was negatively correlated to negative symptoms. Furthermore, aberrant FC values within the NAcc network were correlated with severity of clinical symptoms and neurocognitive impairments in DS and NDS patients. This study demonstrated abnormal patterns of FC in the NAcc network between DS and NDS. The presence of altered LNAcc-CAL FC might be involved in the pathogenesis of negative symptoms in schizophrenia.

Early stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) to the primary tumor combined with epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EFGR-TKI) treatment may increase progression-free survival (PFS) by delaying resistance in patients with advanced EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In this prospective, single arm, phase II study, patients with advanced NSCLC were treated with EGFR-TKI (icotinib 125 mg tid or gefitinib 250 mg qd) for one month followed by SBRT (40–60 Gy/5–8 F/5–10 d) to the primary tumor with concurrent EGFR-TKI until disease progression. The primary endpoint was PFS and the patterns of failure. Overall survival (OS) and adverse effects (AEs) were secondary endpoints. Overall, 41 advanced NSCLC patients with EGFR mutations received treatment with 24.42 months of median follow-up time. On average, SBRT was initiated 1.49 months after EGFR-TKI administration. Tumors were found to have an average shrinkage rate of 42.50%. Median PFS was 15.23 months (95% CI 13.10–17.36), while median OS was 27.57 months (95% CI 23.05–32.09). Thirty-three patients were found to have disease progression, of which new site failure (NF) (22 patients, 66.66%) was the most common pattern, followed by original site failure (OF) (7 patients, 21.21%) and simultaneous OF/NF (ONF) (4 patients, 12.12%). There were no Aes equal to or greater than grade 3, with the most frequent AE being radiation pneumonitis. Therefore, administering therapy targeted at the primary tumor using early SBRT after EGFR-TKI initiation is a new potentially safe and effective approach to treat EGFR-mutant advanced NSCLC.

The Riemannian manifold optimization algorithms have been widely used in machine learning, computer vision, data mining, and other technical fields. Most of these algorithms are based on the geodesic or the retracement operator and use the classical methods (i.e., the steepest descent method, the conjugate gradient method, the Newton method, etc.) to solve engineering optimization problems. However, they lack the ability to solve non-differentiable mathematical models and ensure global convergence for non-convex manifolds. Considering this issue, this paper proposes a quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (QPSO) algorithm on Riemannian manifolds named RQPSO. In this algorithm, the quantum-behaved particles are randomly distributed on the manifold surface and iteratively updated during the whole search process. Then, the vector transfer operator is used to translate the guiding vectors, which are not in the same Euclidean space, to the tangent space of the particles. Through the searching of these guiding vectors, we can achieve the retracement and update of points and finally obtain the optimized result. The proposed RQPSO algorithm does not depend on the expression form of a problem and could deal with various engineering technical problems, including both differentiable and non-differentiable ones. To verify the performance of RQPSO experimentally, we compare it with some traditional algorithms on three common matrix manifold optimization problems. The experimental results show that RQPSO has better performance than its competitors in terms of calculation speed and optimization efficiency.

Piezo-actuated flexure-based systems are widely used in applications with high accuracy requirements, but the intrinsic hysteresis has a detrimental effect on the performance which should be compensated. Conventional models were presented to model this undesired effect using additional dead-zone operators. This paper presents a new approach using two sets of operators with a distributed compensator to model and compensate for the asymmetric system hysteresis based on inversion calculation with a simplified digitized representation. The experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed model in modeling and compensating the asymmetric system hysteresis.

High-quality P6322 Mn2N0.86 samples were synthesised using a high-pressure metathesis reaction, and the properties of the material were investigated. The measurements revealed that the Vickers hardness was 7.47 GPa, which is less than that predicted by commonly used theoretical models. At low air pressure, Mn2N0.86 and MnO coexist at 500 to 600 °C, and by excluding air, we succeeded in producing Mn4N by heating Mn2N0.86 in nitrogen atmosphere; we carefully studied this process with thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC). This gives a hint that to control temperature, air pressure and gas concentration might be an effective way to prepare fine Mn-N-O catalysis. Magnetic measurements indicated that ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism coexist within Mn2N0.86 at room temperature and that these magnetic properties are induced by nitrogen vacancies. Ab intio simulation was used to probe the nature of the magnetism in greater detail. The research contributes to the available data and the understanding of Mn2N0.86 and suggests ways to control the formation of materials based on Mn2N0.86.

To reduce carbon dioxide emissions, wind power generation is receiving more attention. The conversion of wind energy into electricity requires frequent use of insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs). Therefore, it is important to improve their reliability. This study proposed a method to predict the junction temperature of IGBTs, which helps to improve their reliability. Limited by the bad working environment, the physical temperature measurement method proposed by previous research is difficult to apply. Therefore, a junction temperature prediction method based on an extreme learning machine optimized by an improved honey badger algorithm was proposed in this study. First, the data of junction temperature were obtained by the electro-heat coupling model method. Then, the accuracy of the proposed method was verified with the data. The results show that the average absolute error of the proposed method is 0.0303 °C, which is 10.62%, 11.14%, 91.67%, and 95.54% lower than that of the extreme learning machine optimized by a honey badger algorithm, extreme learning machine optimized by a seagull optimization algorithm, extreme learning machine, and back propagation neural network model. Therefore, compared with other models, the proposed method in this paper has higher prediction accuracy.

Essential oils (EOs) have been proposed as an alternative to conventional pesticides to inhibit fungal pathogens. However, the application of EOs is considerably limited due to their highly volatile nature and unpredictable effects on other microbes. In our study, the composition of bacterial and fungal communities from the rhizosphere soil of P. notoginseng under four treatment levels of Alpinia officinarum Hance EO was characterized over several growth stages. Leaf weight varied dramatically among the four EO treatment levels after four months of growth, and the disease index at a low concentration (0.14 mg/g) of EO addition was the lowest among the P. notoginseng growth stages. The content of monomeric saponins was elevated when EO was added. Bacterial and fungal diversity in the absence of plants showed a decreasing trend with increasing levels of EO. Bacterial diversity recovery was more correlated with plant growth than was fungal diversity recovery. Compared with the control (no EO addition), a low concentration of EO significantly accumulated Actinomycota, including Acidothermus, Blastococcus, Catenulispora, Conexibacter, Rhodococcus, and Sinomonas, after one month of plant-microbial interaction. Overall, the results showed that both the plant growth stage and EOs drive changes in the microbial community composition in the rhizosphere of P. notoginseng. Plant development status had a stronger influence on bacterial diversity than on fungal diversity. EO had a more significant effect on fungal community composition, increasing the dominance of Ascomycota when EO concentration was increased. Under the interaction of P. notoginseng growth and EO, a large number of bacterial genera that have been described as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) responded positively to low concentrations of EO application, suggesting that EO may recruit beneficial microbes in the root zone to cope with pathogens and reduce root rot disease. These results offer novel insights into the relationship between EO application, altered microbial communities in the plant roots, plant growth stage, and disease occurrence.

As the core component of satellite navigation, the hydrogen maser needs a high vacuum environment to maintain the stability of the frequency signal. The getter pump, composed of various non-evaporable getters, plays an important role in maintaining the high vacuum. In this paper, the Zr100-xCux (x = 0, 2, 4, 6)/Zr56.97V35.85Cr7.18 getter was studied and the contradiction between sorption performance and mechanical properties was solved. The Zr-V-Cr getter, a better candidate for getter pump, exists for problems which will destroy the high vacuum and affect the service life of the hydrogen maser. To solve the problem of dropping powder from Zr-V-Cr getter, Zr-Cu films were coated on the surface of Zr-V-Cr matrix to obtain the pore gradient structure. After vacuum sintering, the interface showed gradient structure and network change in pore structure from Zr-Cu film to Zr-V-Cr matrix. These characteristic structures made Zr-V-Cr getter have good absorption properties, which is better than a similar product of SAES company and mechanical properties. Because the Zr-Cu film on Zr-V-Cr matrix effectively prevented dropping powders from the matrix, (Zr-Cu)/(Zr-V-Cr) getter solved the problem of dropping powder. The self-developed new getter with pore gradient structure is of great significance for maintaining the high vacuum of hydrogen maser in the future.

Antimicrobial resistance is an increasingly serious threat to public health worldwide. The presence of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in human airways and relevant environments has not received significant attention. In this study, abundances of ARGs and microbes from airborne particulate matter, dust, and human airways in a hospital were profiled using high-throughput qPCR and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. More diverse ARGs and microbes in indoor dust and higher levels of ARGs in particulate matter PM10 and PM2.5 were observed. Macrolides and aminoglycoside resistance genes were the most abundant ARGs in the airway and environmental samples, respectively. Moreover, the co-occurrences of priority pathogens, ARGs, and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) were shown by the Network analysis. Campylobacter spp. and Staphylococcus spp. positively correlated with fluoroquinolone (vatC-02, mexD) and β-lactams (blaZ, mecA) resistance genes, respectively. In this regard, based on SourceTracker analysis, inhalable particles contributed to 4.0% to 5.5% of ARGs in human airway samples, suggesting an important exchange between airborne inhalable particles and human commensals. This study may advance knowledge about ARGs in airborne particulate matter and dust associated environments, reveal their potential link between environments and humans, and provide a new sight and fundamental data for ARG risk assessment.

ObjectiveWe aimed to investigate whether enhanced CT-based radiomics can predict micropapillary pattern (MPP) of lung invasive adenocarcinoma (IAC) in the pre-op phase and to develop an individual diagnostic predictive model for MPP in IAC.Methods170 patients who underwent complete resection for pathologically confirmed lung IAC were included in our study. Of these 121 were used as a training cohort and the other 49 as a test cohort. Clinical features and enhanced CT images were collected and assessed. Quantitative CT analysis was performed based on feature types including first order, shape, gray-level co-occurrence matrix-based, gray-level size zone matrix-based, gray-level run length matrix-based, gray-level dependence matrix-based, neighboring gray tone difference matrix-based features and transform types including Log, wavelet and local binary pattern. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and area under the curve (AUC) were used to value the ability to identify the lung IAC with MPP using these characteristics.ResultsUsing quantitative CT analysis, one thousand three hundred and seventeen radiomics features were deciphered from R (https://www.r-project.org/). Then these radiomic features were decreased to 14 features after dimension reduction using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) method in R. After correlation analysis, 5 key features were obtained and used as signatures for predicting MPP within IAC. The individualized prediction model which included age, smoking, family tumor history and radiomics signature had better identification (AUC=0.739) in comparison with the model consisting only of radiomics features (AUC=0.722). A severe form of infantile cardiomyopathy (CM) has been linked to mutations in ELAC2, a highly conserved human gene. It encodes Zinc phosphodiesterase ELAC protein 2 (ELAC2), which plays an essential role in the production of mature tRNAs. To establish a causal connection between ELAC2 variants and CM, here we used the Drosophila melanogaster model organism, which carries the ELAC2 homolog RNaseZ. Even though RNaseZ and ELAC2 have diverged in some of their biological functions, our study demonstrates the use of the fly model to study the mechanism of ELAC2-related pathology. We established transgenic lines harboring RNaseZ with CM-linked mutations in the background of endogenous RNaseZ knockout. Importantly, we found that the phenotype of these flies is consistent with the pathological features in human patients. Specifically, expression of CM-linked variants in flies caused heart hypertrophy and led to reduction in cardiac contractility associated with a rare form of CM. This study provides first experimental evidence for the pathogenicity of CM-causing mutations in the ELAC2 protein, and the foundation to improve our understanding and diagnosis of this rare infantile disease. Economic factors are assumed to have substantial effects on transportation crash trends. This study makes a comprehensive examination of the relationship between the retail gasoline price, and fatal traffic crashes from 2007 to 2016 in the U.S. Random effect negative binomial (RENB) regression models are used to investigate the relationship while controlling for the other effective factors. This is achieved by developing appropriate crash prediction models. Based on the role of gender and rider's transportation mode in interpreting the prediction results, seven models are developed to investigate the relationship between the inflation adjusted gasoline price and the number of fatal crashes in male, female, motorcyclist, non-motorcyclist, bicyclist, pedestrian, and total groups. Our findings suggest that increasing gasoline prices will not significantly alter the number of total fatal crashes. On the other hand, it is estimated that a one-dollar increase in adjusted gasoline price is associated with a 24.4% increase in the number of fatal motorcycle crashes (p-value = 3.7e-14), a 1.9% decrease in the number of fatal non-motorcycle crashes (p-value = 0.02), and a 8% decrease in the number of fatal pedestrian crashes (p-value = 0.08). There is no noticeable difference between males and females in response to the gasoline price changes.

Waterborne polyurethane (WPUs) were synthesized with polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMG), isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) as the primary raw material, castor oil (CO) and dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA) as the crosslinker and hydrophilic chain-extender, respectively. Three-dimensional networks were constructed in the molecular chain of the polymer by the introduction of castor oil. With the increase of CO contents, the WPUs prepared with more flexible segments and more points of intersection supporting the three-dimensional structure provided by castor oil have films with weak resistance to water, better elasticity, lower effective damping temperature, and better thermal resistance. Different homogeneity of the network structure was obtained, it was found that with the gradual unification of the structure, the tensile properties of the film were improved by about 25%, and the lowest effective damping temperature moved to −43.25 ​°C. The WPU films could be used as a material for low-temperature damping applications.

BackgroundPulmonary lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC) is a rare subtype of lung cancer with less than 700 cases being reported in the literature, and no specialized treatment guidelines have been established. The prognostic significance of metabolic parameters on 18F-FDG PET in pulmonary LELC still remains unknown.MethodsFrom July 2011 to September 2020, 76 pulmonary LELC patients undergoing pre-treatment 18F-FDG PET imaging were enrolled, and PET parameters including maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) were calculated. In addition, whole-body tumor burdens were categorized into primary tumor lesion (PRL), thoracic lymph-node lesion (TRLN), and distant metastasis (DM) for respective metabolic parameters acquisition. ROC curves were generated to evaluate the predictive performance of the PET parameters, and correlations between tumor burdens of the different regional lesions were analyzed using linear correlation analysis. The prognostic significance for progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) was assessed using univariate and multivariate survival analyses.ResultsTumor stage, pre-/post-treatment serum EBV-DNA copies, SUVmax (cutoff 17.5), MTV, and TLG were significantly associated with PFS and OS in univariate analysis. MTV and TLG (AUC = 0.862 and 0.857, respectively) showed significantly higher predictive value than SUVmax (AUC = 0.754) and remained independent prognostic indicators for PFS in multivariate analysis (P = 0.026 and 0.019, respectively). Besides, non-colinearity was detected between metabolic burdens of the different regional lesions. MTV-PRL, MTV-DM, TLG-PRL, and TLG-DM were identified to be independent prognostic factors for PFS and OS, whereas MTV-TRLN and TLG-TRLN were not.ConclusionThe study demonstrated that MTV and TLG had independent prognostic significance for pulmonary LELC, which supported the incorporation of 18F-FDG PET imaging into clinical treatment protocols for pulmonary LELC and implied multi-disciplinary cooperation for primary and distant metastatic lesions to further improve prognosis.

Background: Small nucleolar RNA host gene 12 (SNHG12) is a newly identified long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) whose involvements have been explored in several cancers. Our study aimed to explore the functions of SNHG12 on intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) progression and its interaction with miR-199a-5p and Klotho.Methods: RT-PCR was performed to examine the expressions of SNHG12, miR-199a-5p and Klotho in ICC cells. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), colony formation assays and transwell assays were applied to analyze the proliferation, migration and invasion of ICC cells. Luciferase assays, RIP assays and RNA pull-down assays were carried out to demonstrate the direct binding relationships among SNHG12, miR-199a-5p and Klotho. The xenograft nude models were applied to test the effects of SNHG12 on ICC tumor growth.Results: The expression of SNHG12 and Klotho was distinctly increased in ICC cells, while miR-199a-5p expressions were decreased. Functionally, the silence of SNHG12 inhibited the proliferation and metastasis of ICC cells, while miR-199a-5p overexpression exhibited an opposite result. Mechanistically, Knockdown of SNHG12 significantly suppressed the expressions of miR-199a-5p by sponging it, and then increased Klotho expression. The final in vivo experiments suggested that the silence of SNHG12 distinctly inhibited tumor growth.Conclusion: Our findings indicated that SNHG12 inhibited cell proliferation and metastasis process of ICC cells through modulating the miR-199a-5p/Klotho axis and it is expected to become a potential therapeutic target for ICC.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of suicidal ideation among the first batch of students returning to a college during the COVID-19 epidemic, and to explore the correlation of suicidal ideation with family characteristics and social support.Methods: A cluster sampling survey with a self-designed questionnaire was conducted among the first batch of students returning to a college in Wuhu, China. The Positive and Negative Suicidal ideation (PANSI) and Social Support Scale (SSRS) were used to define students' suicidal ideation and social support, respectively. The influence of family characteristics and social support on the students' suicidal ideation was investigated using multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis.Results: Two thousand seven hundred valid questionnaires were collected, including 673 males (24.9%) and 2,027 females (75.1%), in this study. A total of 146 students (5.4%) showed suicidal ideation. Male respondents reported higher rates (7.9%) than females (4.6%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that a higher risk level of residence before returning to school and lower objective support were the risk factors for suicidal ideation in males. In contrast, a higher level of maternal education, a poorer relationship with the mother, and lower scores for subjective support and support availability had significant effects on females' suicidal ideation.Limitations: This is a cross-sectional study, and lacks comparison to the time point unaffected by COVID-19. Moreover, it was limited by COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control restrictions, and the differences in returning to school in different regions. Only one college was investigated in this study, and all of the respondents were sophomores, so there may be some limitations in the representativeness of the sample and extrapolation of the results.Conclusion: Family characteristics and social support have had an important influence on suicidal ideation among students returning to school during the COVID-19 epidemic. Some gender differences were identified. Targeted interventions are needed for early prevention and control.

Background: Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) or its earlier stage Acute lung injury (ALI), is a worldwide health concern that jeopardizes human well-being. Currently, the treatment strategies to mitigate the incidence and mortality of ARDS are severely restricted. This limitation can be attributed, at least in part, to the substantial variations in immunity observed in individuals with this syndrome. Methods: Bulk and single cell RNA sequencing from ALI mice and single cell RNA sequencing from ARDS patients were analyzed. We utilized the Seurat program package in R and cellmarker 2.0 to cluster and annotate the data. The differential, enrichment, protein interaction, and cell-cell communication analysis were conducted. Results: The mice with ALI caused by pulmonary and extrapulmonary factors demonstrated differential expression including Clec4e, Retnlg, S100a9, Coro1a, and Lars2. We have determined that inflammatory factors have a greater significance in extrapulmonary ALI, while multiple pathways collaborate in the development of pulmonary ALI. Clustering analysis revealed significant heterogeneity in the relative abundance of immune cells in different ALI models. The autocrine action of neutrophils plays a crucial role in pulmonary ALI. Additionally, there was a significant increase in signaling intensity between B cells and M1 macrophages, NKT cells and M1 macrophages in extrapulmonary ALI. The CXCL, CSF3 and MIF, TGFβ signaling pathways play a vital role in pulmonary and extrapulmonary ALI, respectively. Moreover, the analysis of human single-cell revealed DCs signaling to monocytes and neutrophils in COVID-19-associated ARDS is stronger compared to sepsis-related ARDS. In sepsis-related ARDS, CD8+ T and Th cells exhibit more prominent signaling to Bcell nucleated DCs. Meanwhile, both MIF and CXCL signaling pathways are specific to sepsis-related ARDS. Conclusion: This study has identified specific gene signatures and signaling pathways in animal models and human samples that facilitate the interaction between immune cells, which could be targeted therapeutically in ARDS patients of various etiologies. Aims: This study aims to explore the gender differences in cognitive improvements after two months of atypical antipsychotic treatment in first episode schizophrenia (FES). Methods: 82 patients with FES, including 50 male patients and 32 female patients, were enrolled in the present study. Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB) were respectively conducted to evaluate the clinical symptoms and cognitive function of patients with FES at baseline and after treatment. Repeated measure ANOVA was performed to compare gender differences in cognitive domains scores between baseline and 2-month follow-up. Stepwise liner regression model was performed to explore the effect factors of cognitive improvements in patients. Results: There was no significant difference in age of onset, education years, PANSS scores, duration of untreated psychosis and Olanzapine equivalent doses between male and female patients (all p > 0.05). In the comparisons of cognition function, male patients exhibited better performance in social cognition compared with female patients at baseline (t = 3.20, p < 0.05). After treatment, improvements of attention/vigilance and working memory were both found in male patients and female patients (attention/vigilance, F = 11.867, p < 0.05; working memory, F = 18.265, p < 0.05). In addition, improvement of speed of information processing was only found in female patients (F = 11.65, p < 0.01). Significant interaction between time and gender was found in speed information of processing (F = 4.140, p = 0.045). Stepwise liner regression model revealed that improvements of negative symptoms promote improvements of cognitive function in female patients (all p < 0.05). Conclusions: Our findings revealed gender differences of cognitive improvements in patients with FES after 2-month treatment. It provides new evidence for gender differences in cognitive symptoms of schizophrenia, and also provides preliminary clues for further individualized cognitive intervention strategies. Introduction: It is known that patients with immune-abnormal co-pregnancies are at a higher risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Traditional pregnancy risk management systems have poor prediction abilities for adverse pregnancy outcomes in such patients, with many limitations in clinical application. In this study, we will use machine learning to screen high-risk factors for miscarriage and develop a miscarriage risk prediction model for patients with immuneabnormal pregnancies. This model aims to provide an adjunctive tool for the clinical identification of patients at high risk of miscarriage and to allow for active intervention to reduce adverse pregnancy outcomes. Methods: Patients with immune-abnormal pregnancies attending Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital were collected through electronic medical records (EMR). The data were divided into a training set and a test set in an 8: 2 ratio. Comparisons were made to evaluate the performance of traditional pregnancy risk assessment tools for clinical applications. This analysis involved assessing the cost-benefit of clinical treatment, evaluating the model's performance, and determining its economic value. Data sampling methods, feature screening, and machine learning algorithms were utilized to develop predictive models. These models were internally validated using 10-fold crossvalidation for the training set and externally validated using bootstrapping for the test set. Model performance was assessed by the area under the characteristic curve (AUC). Based on the best parameters, a predictive model for miscarriage risk was developed, and the SHapley additive expansion (SHAP) method was used to assess the best model feature contribution. Results: A total of 565 patients were included in this study on machine learningbased models for predicting the risk of miscarriage in patients with immuneabnormal pregnancies. Twenty-eight risk warning models were developed, and the predictive model constructed using XGBoost demonstrated the best performance with an AUC of 0.9209. The SHAP analysis of the best model highlighted the total number of medications, as well as the use of aspirin and low molecular weight heparin, as significant influencing factors. The implementation of the pregnancy risk scoring rules resulted in accuracy, precision, and F1 scores of 0.3009, 0.1663, and 0.2852, respectively. The economic evaluation showed a saving of ¥7,485,865.7 due to the model. Conclusion: The predictive model developed in this study performed well in estimating the risk of miscarriage in patients with immune-abnormal pregnancies. The findings of the model interpretation identified the total number of medications and the use of other medications during pregnancy as key factors in the early warning model for miscarriage risk. This provides an important basis for early risk assessment and intervention in immune-abnormal pregnancies. The predictive model developed in this study demonstrated better risk prediction performance than the Pregnancy Risk Management System (PRMS) and also demonstrated economic value. Therefore, miscarriage risk prediction in patients with immune-abnormal pregnancies may be the most cost-effective management method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Liquid loading occurs in gas wells after a period of production, and the vortex drainage gas recovery technology can alleviate this problem by removing liquid. To substantially enhance the efficiency of this technology, a novel tool combining jetting and helical mechanisms has been introduced. To validate its effectiveness, a laboratory system for detailed analysis of pressure drops by using various tools at multiple gas flow rates has been set up. The analysis approach encompasses both single-factor and orthogonal analyses of tool structure parameters to find out the optimal tool structural parameters under different operating conditions. Consequently, a correlation between the gas flow rates observed in controlled laboratory environments and those in actual gas wells has been established. The study indicates that the tool's main structural parameters significantly impact pressure drops along the wellbore. Furthermore, it is evident that distinct well profiles require unique tool setups to minimize such pressure drop. Field tests of the optimized tool have shown notable enhancements: The average gas flow rate increased by 25.9%, reaching 5.39 × 104 m3/d (1.90 × 106 scf/d), while the average liquid flow rate increased by 20.1%, reaching 1.46 m3/d (9.18 bbl/d). These results highlight the superior drainage stimulation effect of the new jetting and helical combination tool, presenting novel insights and methodologies for enhancing gas recovery in liquid-loaded gas wells.
