- Abstract
This study demonstrates the development of a promising heterostructure anode by a facile synthetic strategy of fabricating Fe2N in the scaffold of sulfonated graphene oxide (SGO) embedded in a polyaniline (PANI) matrix. The hierarchically nanostructured anode material consolidates the high theoretical capacity, multielectron transfer capability, and high ionic diffusivity of Fe2N with the high conductivity and mechanical flexibility of the graphene framework. The PANI matrix serves not only as a glue to combine the Fe2N and SGO sheets but also provides additional conductivity, mechanical strength, and stability. The assembled heterostructure Fe2N-SGO/PANI-24 h delivers a reversible capacity of 864.1 mAh/g after 500 cycles, with an initial discharge capacity of 1204.8 mAh/g at a current density of 0.05 A/g, which is superior to the constituent components and other counterparts at the same current density. The pronouncedly enhanced performance of Fe2N-SGO/PANI-24 h compared to pristine Fe2N reveals that the PANI matrix and SGO boosted the capacity, buffered the volume variations, and kept the overall conductivity of the electrode during successive charge-discharge cycles. Furthermore, increasing the reaction time helped in the uniform distribution of Fe2N-SGO in the PANI matrix, which improves the overall performance.

In the present study, the effect of various dietary ratios of linoleic acid (LNA) to α-linolenic acid (ALA), and vitamin A (Retinyl Acetate) on egg quality and some blood metabolites was examined in laying hens kept at high ambient environmental temperature.Three hundred and sixty laying hens were fed rations supplemented with different combinations of canola oil and linseed oil to have LNA to ALA dietary ratios of 20:1, 10:1, 4:1, 2:1, 1:1 and 1:2, each with 3000 IU or 10000 IU vitamin A/kg of diet (6X2 factorial; under Completely Randomized Design). Various blood metabolites, egg cholesterol, egg triglycerides and egg-yolk fatty acids were determined during the last week of the study.The results showed that serum triglycerides, serum total- and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol, and blood glucose were similar (P>0.05) in laying hens; fed on various dietary LNA/ALA ratios and vitamin A levels.Consequently, egg cholesterol and egg triglycerides were also similar (P>0.05) for the all dietary treatments. However, Serum high density lipoprotein-cholesterol increased (P=0.045) with the decrease in dietary LNA/ALA ratio.The n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in egg yolks from laying hens were increased (P<0.001) while, the n-6 PUFA and the ratio of n-6 to n-3 fatty acids were decreased (P<0.001) with the decrease in dietary LNA/ALA ratio.It was recommended that a dietary ratio of 4:1 or less between LNA and ALA was quite beneficial for the production of eggs by the hens with desirable quantities of n-6 and n-3 PUFA that are suitable for human consumption. Traditionally the treatment of 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree haemorrhoids is conservative management with fibre rich diet and better defecation discipline. If symptoms prevail then there are a wide range of treatment modalities. OBJECTIVE: to evaluate the efficacy of injection Sclerotherapy for First degree haemorrhoids using 5% Phenol in Almond oil. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This case series study was conducted on 83 patients with first degree piles in Surgical-C unit, Department of Surgery, Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar from 01/09/2010 till 01/03/2011. After Informed consent, injection Sclerotherapy with 1-2ml of 5% Phenol in Almond oil was injected in the sub mucosal plane of each pile case above the dentate line. Patients were reviewed at 3 weeks interval for bleeding per rectum for effectiveness of the procedure. RESULTS: A total of 83 patients with first degree haemorrhoids included in the study out of which 62 (74.7%) were male and 21 (25.03%) were female with M: F=2.99:1. Average age 41.1 years+0.1 SD with range 20-60 years. Efficacy was observed in 68 (81.83%) patients where 15 (18.07%) patients showed no results. CONCLUSION: Injection sclerotherapy is simple, convenient and effective outdoor procedure for first degree haemorrhoids. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) movement has brought a series of alternative software solutions for almost all categories of software including Operating Systems, Database Systems, Web Servers, Programming Languages, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Graphics, Games, Networking, and System Administration. FOSS Movement has got a major share in the market of software from its beginning. Libraries are the early institutions which adopted computer packages for management of information and automation of library procedures. FOSS Movement is very popular in libraries around the world. Libraries have been blessed with Free and Open Source Software including Integrated Library Software, Digital Library Management, Content Management, Inter-Library Loan Management, Document Delivery Services, and other web-based services around the world including developing as well as developed countries. FOSS Movement in LIS Profession of Pakistan is not very old. It started in mid of the first decade of 21st century and started the journey slowly. But now after five to six years, it is getting popularity in all type of libraries in the country. The purpose of this study is to explore the current status of FOSS Movement in Pakistan and the efforts made by the individuals or LIS organizations to promote Free and Open Source Software in Pakistan. This paper has also suggested measures to be taken in future to promote FOSS movement. The methodology of this study is based upon the literature review and interviews of some key persons involved in Free and Open Source Software in LIS in Pakistan have been conducted. Design and management of the Indus Basin Irrigation System are aimed at achieving equity in canal water supply. This concept, which is more than a century old, ignores the due aspect of groundwater management in today's perspective. Recent research has proved that variation in irrigation demand and rainfall within the irrigation units has given birth to varying stresses on groundwater. In response to spatial climate variability, reallocation of canal supplies from the head towards the tail of the Lower Bari Doab Canal (LBDC) command was evaluated in this study, with the objective of achieving equitable total irrigation costs. The ensuing groundwater regime was simulated for 50 years' time with a groundwater model. A 25% reallocation from head towards tail-end improves the standard deviation of total irrigation cost equity from 1905 to 241. This command scale integration of available water resources also demonstrated a net saving in groundwater pumping cost to the tune of 7.24 to 18.9%, in comparison with existing equitable canal supplies. With this approach, at least minimal or no waterlogging in the headend area, even during wet years, and no groundwater mining in the tail-end, even during dry periods, are anticipated. 367. Lentinan's effect on gut microbiota and inflammatory cytokines in 5-FU-induced mucositis mice

Abstract Chemotherapeutic therapies for cancer are frequently associated with cytotoxic side effects that can be harmful to human health, including the development of intestinal mucositis (IM). It mostly affects the gastrointestinal tract, causing ulceration, inflammation, and the formation of lesions in the colon. Surprisingly, despite the frequency of IM, therapeutic choices remain restricted. In our search for new intestinal mucositis therapies, we wanted to see how Lentinan (LT), derived from Lentinus edodes, would fare in mouse models of intestinal mucositis. To create the intestinal mucositis model in mice, we gave them intra-peritoneal doses of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) (50 mg/kg) and then tested the effects of Lentinan on intestinal mucositis. This examination required constant monitoring of several factors, such as body weight fluctuations, food consumption, and diarrhea. In addition, we measured the levels of certain inflammatory cytokines (Tumour Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α), Interleukin-1 (IL-1), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), and Interleukin-10 (IL-10), looked at the expression of tight junction proteins (Zonula Occludens-1(ZO-1), Claudin-1), measured mucin-2 levels, and looked into changes in the gut flora. In the mouse model of intestinal mucositis, our findings showed that LT effectively reduced weight loss, increased food intake, and relieved diarrhea. Concurrently, we saw a decrease in the expression of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1, and IL-6, as well as a considerable increase in the concentration of IL-10. Furthermore, LT reduced intestinal mucositis by increasing the length and structural integrity of the colon. Furthermore, increased expression of tight junction proteins (ZO-1, Claudin-1), mucin-2, and an increase in the number of goblet cells all confirmed our previous findings. Notably, the makeup of beneficial bacteria in the stomach increased as well. Finally, our findings suggest that LT can effectively prevent 5-fluorouracil-induced intestinal mucositis in mice by improving immune function, restoring intestinal barrier integrity, and rebalancing gut microbial flora.

This research implements an evolutionary optimized finite differences scheme (FDS) for nonlinear electrohydrodynamics ion drag flow dynamics in a cylindrical conduit (EHD-IDFCC). In the scheme, finite differences are exploited to discretize governing expressions of EHD-IDFCC, represented with a nonlinear singular seconder order differential equation, into a nonlinear equations-based system. The fitness function based on residual error is constructed for the FDS-based discretized EHD-IDFCC model. Its optimization is conducted with the global search capability of genetic algorithms (GAs) aided by the local search efficacy of the interior-point method (IPM), i.e., FDS-GA-IPM. The performance of the designed stochastic numerical solver FDS-GA-IPM is evaluated for a variant of the EHD-IDFCC model for different scenarios to measure the effect of axial flow velocity by varying the electric Hartmann numbers, as well as the nonlinearity factor. Statistical interpretations based on histogram illustrations, probability plots, and boxplots in terms of the cost function, mean absolute error (MAE), Thai inequality coefficients (TIC), and coefficient of determination metrics (R2) are used to endorse the accuracy, convergence, stability, and strength of the FDS-GA-IPM.

Abstract The study of genotype × environment interaction is crucial for plant breeders to introduce new cultivar(s) with improved and stable yield performance. The productivity of chickpea crops is very low in Pakistan. It requires the selection of genotypes with optimal productivity for diverse environmental conditions. Fourteen different chickpea genotypes were assessed using the linear mixed model to evaluate genotypes across four diverse chickpea growing regions, including Attock (Punjab), Bhakkar (Punjab), Karak (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), and Larkana during the year 2017–19. The environmental effect was pronounced and contributed significantly to variation (25.8%) in grain yield. Analysing genotype × environmental interactions at multiple locations facilitates ranking superior genotypes that excel in specific or diverse environments. Notably, the genotypes, viz., Fakhr-e-Thal and Bhakkar-2011, demonstrated superior performance in terms of overall grain yield. Utilising a multitrait stability index, Bittal-2016 and Thal-2006 exhibited the most stable genotypes across various environments and were observed suitable for diverse growing regions. While, for specific environmental conditions, genotypes, i.e., KK-1, Noor-2013 and Fakhr-e-thal, exhibited higher yields and stability. This showed their adaptability to the particular environment. The present study revealed that Larkana as the mega environment was conducive to higher yield, while Attock, Bhakkar, and Karak sites were less favorable for KK-3, DG-89, and Dasht. The BLUP outperformed the AMMI in our analysis of evaluating multi-location trials. The integration of WAASBY and MTSI indices proved useful in differentiating between high yielding genotypes and those with stable performance. These tools are essential for breeders aiming to select genotypes that will perform consistently across diverse environmental conditions.

IntroductionInflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis, is marked by intestinal barrier disruptions, immune system dysregulation, and an imbalance in the gut microbiota. The golden chanterelle mushroom, Cantharellus cibarius Fr., a popular edible mushroom, has shown potential therapeutic benefits. This study examines the therapeutic potential of a crude polysaccharide extract obtained from C. cibarius Fr. (CCP) on intestinal barrier integrity, inflammatory cytokine levels, and gut microbiota composition in a murine model of colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS).MethodsTo induce colitis BALB/c mice were provided to consume autoclaved water with 3% DSS for 7 days, followed by 14 days of CCP supplementation. To assess the effects of CCP, histological analysis of colon tissue was performed, gene expression, inflammatory responses, tight junction proteins expression, gut barrier integrity, and cytokines levels were measured and analyzed and 16S rRNA sequencing were evaluated.Results and DiscussionCCP treatment alleviates colitis symptoms by improving body weight, and enhancing intestinal integrity through increased mucin-2 and tight junction protein expression. Additionally, CCP administration regulates the altered immune response by mitigating the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and upregulating anti-inflammatory cytokines. Furthermore, CCP supplementation effectively modulates DSS-induced dysbiosis as demonstrated by 16S rRNA sequencing results. These findings suggest that crude polysaccharides from the golden chanterelle mushroom, C. cibarius Fr., hold promise for treating colitis, via strengthening the intestinal barrier, regulating inflammatory responses, and reshaping the gut dysbiosis in a DSS-induced colitis model. CCP offers a novel approach for managing colitis, as a chronic inflammatory condition.

In this report, Ni-doped TiO 2 /MWCNTs (Ni x Ti 1−x O 2 /MWCNTs) nanocomposites were synthesized by surfactant-assisted controlled hydrolysis approach taking advantage of the synergistic interplay between MWCNTs and Ni-doped TiO 2 leveraging both the electrode performance and stability. At an optimal 5% doping of Ni the electrode showed 241.3 mAh g−1 capacity at C/10 for 80 cycles, moreover an excellent rate capacity (154.1 mAh g−1) is also demonstrated even at a high rate of 20 C. The lower angle shift and enlargement of TiO 2 unit cell from XRD results indicate that Ni is occupying Ti position in TiO 2 matrix. The increase in the intensity of t 2g and e g bands in O K edge NEXAFS point to the effective hybridization between Ni 3d and O 2p orbitals. Ni and Ti L 3,2 edge from NEXAFS spectra clearly reflect 2+ and 4+ valence states of Ni and Ti, respectively. C K edge NEXAFS provides clear evidence for a charge distribution and chemical bonding between Ni x Ti 1−x O 2 nanorods and MWCNTs. Ex-situ XANES studies of lithiated samples have proved that Ti and Ni K edge shifts to lower energy upon increased doping concentration while ex-situ XRD points towards the lattice expansion upon Li-insertion that seems to be most favoured for Ni 0.05 Ti 0.95 O 2 /MWCNTs sample. This work offers new outlooks for electrode fabrication with a deep insight into structural alterations associated with the charging-discharging behaviour in the nanocomposite electrodes for battery applications. The aim of the present research work was to study the effect of different levels of sucrose and honey content on strawberry leather stored at room temperature for a total period of 90 days. The sucrose and honey was added at the level of 300:0, 250:50, 200:100, 150:150, 100:200, 50:250 and 0:300, representing each treatment. The prepared strawberry leather were analysed physiochemically for pH, acidity, ascorbic acid, reducing and non-reducing sugar content, sugar acid ration and organoleptically for colour, taste, texture and overall acceptability for a total period of 90 days. Statistical results revealed that treatment and storage interval had a significant (P< 0.05) effect on both physiochemical and organoleptic evaluation. Results also revealed that the decrease occurred in moisture content from (18.17-13.53%), pH (3.58 to 3.43), ascorbic acid (34.41 to 25.53), non-reducing sugar (5.09 to 4.85), sugar-acid ratio (71.03-65.37%), and sensory evaluation included colour (8.17 to 5.10), texture (8.31 to 5.69), taste (8.37 to 6.04) and overall acceptability (8.37 to 5.61), while increase was found in total acidity (1.137-1.267%), total soluble solid (80.96 to 83.04 °Brix) and reducing sugar (19.09-19.45%) during storage. The maximum mean values were observed for moisture in SL5 (16.37), ascorbic acid SL4 (31.59), pH SL4 (3.57), titratable acidity SL4 (1.230), total soluble solid SL4 (82.80), total solid SL4 (82.80), reducing sugar SL4 (26.47), non-reducing sugar SL1 (6.20), colour SL4 (7.13), texture SL4 (7.54), taste SL4 (7.79), overall acceptability SL4 (7.5) and sugar-acid ratio SL6 (70.76). Among all the treatments, T4 was found to be the best both physiochemically and organoleptically.

SummaryOlive production in Australia has continued to increase in recent years, however there remains a high degree of confusion on the genetic identities of the cultivars being grown. In the present study, seven microsatellite (simple sequence repeat; SSR) loci were used to identify a set of 53 olive tree samples from different sources. The microsatellite DNA profiles of all 53 tree samples, including seven unknown trees, were compared with the SSR profiles of 14 reference olive cultivars. A total of 60 fragments (alleles), averaging 8.57 alleles per microsatellite locus, were amplified. High average values were found for the observed heterozygosity, the expected heterozygosity, and the polymorphic information content (0.73, 0.74, and 0.72, respectively). While all seven microsatellite markers proved useful for characterisation and identification purposes, a combination of three SSR primer pairs (DCA9, DCA18, and EM030) was sufficient to distinguish all 53 olive samples. 378. NF-κB pathway activation by Octopus peptide hydrolysate ameliorates gut dysbiosis and enhances immune response in cyclophosphamide-induced mice

Cyclophosphamide (CTX) is an anticancer medication that suppresses host immunity as well as adversely affects mucosal inflammation and gut microflora dysbiosis. The gut microflora is recognized as a substantial factor in host metabolism and immunological homeostasis. To improve immunity and inhibit cytotoxic and homeostatic imbalances triggered by CTX, it is essential to monitor immunoregulators. In this research, we assessed the impact of Octopus peptide hydrolysate (OPH) on immune modulation, intestinal integrity, and gut microbial composition in CTX-induced immune-deficient mice. The results revealed that OPH increased body weight, and immunological organ indices, and improved the histological changes in the colon, thymus, and spleen. The OPH stimulated the secretion of cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α) and antibodies (IgM and IgA) while reducing the ratio of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and diamine oxidase (DAO) in the serum. OPH further enhanced goblet cell and mucus production, upregulated the expression of gut tight-junction proteins (Occludin, Zonula Occludin-1, Mucin-2, and Claudin-1), and activated the TLR4/NF-κB cascade (p-IκBα, P65/p-p65). In addition, OPH treatment declined the Bacteroidetes/Firmicutes ratio, enhanced the relative ratio of Alistipes/Lachnospiraceae, and reversed the ecological equilibrium of the gut microflora. The findings revealed that OPH serves as a prebiotic to prevent CTX-mediated disruption in the intestinal barrier and boosts gut mucosal immunity by attenuating gut microflora imbalance, implying that OPH could be used as an immunological ingredient in nutritious foods to regulate the immune system and protect the gut from inflammatory diseases.

Background: The study assessed the outcomes of patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) to bypass grafts, focusing on all-cause mortality and target vessel failure (TVF) rates. Methods: A single-centre registry analysis included 364 patients who underwent PCI on coronary bypass grafts between 2008 and 2019. The study analyzed all-cause mortality and TVF, which encompassed target lesion revascularization, target vessel revascularization, and medically treated occluded target graft post-PCI. Results: The median age of the patients was 71 years (interquartile range: [IQR] 65-78), with 82.1% being male. Most patients (94.8%) received PCI on saphenous vein grafts, and the median graft age was 13.0 years (IQR: 8.4-17.6). Drug-eluting stents were used more frequently (54.4%) than bare-metal stents (45.6%), with a median stent diameter of 3.5 mm (IQR: 3-4) and length of 19 mm (IQR: 18-28). Outcome differences were not significant for PCI sites (aorto-ostial, graft body, anastomosis), use of drug-eluting stents, or use of protection devices. The 1-year mortality rate was 3.3%, whereas the combined rate of TVF or death was 20.3%. After 5 years, the mortality rate increased to 14.9%, and the combined TVF or death rate rose to 40.3%. Multivariable analyses revealed that chronic kidney disease was independently associated with mortality (hazard ratio [HR] 1.74, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.16-2.61, P = 0.007), whereas hypertension (HR 2.42, 95% CI 1.32-4.42, P = 0.004) and increased stent length (HR 1.01, 95% CI 1.00-1.02, P = 0.007) were independently associated with the TVF-or-mortality outcome. Conclusions: Patients undergoing PCI to bypass grafts experience considerable adverse outcomes over a 5-year period, highlighting the need for further strategies in managing this high-risk population. Résumé: Contexte: L’étude visait à évaluer l’issue des patients ayant subi une intervention coronarienne percutanée (ICP) sur un greffon coronarien, en mettant l’accent sur le taux de mortalité toutes causes confondues et le taux d’échecs de revascularisation du vaisseau cible (EVC). Méthodologie: Une analyse du registre d’un seul établissement a porté sur 364 patients ayant subi une ICP sur un greffon coronarien de 2008 à 2019. L’étude a analysé la mortalité toutes causes confondues et les EVC, qui comprenaient la revascularisation de la lésion cible, la revascularisation du vaisseau cible et le traitement médical de l’occlusion du greffon coronarien cible après l’ICP. Résultats: L’âge médian des patients était de 71 ans (intervalle interquartile [IIQ] de 65 à 78) et 82,1 % d’entre eux étaient de sexe masculin. La plupart des patients (94,8 %) avaient subi une ICP sur un greffon de veine saphène; l’âge médian des greffons était de 13,0 ans (IIQ de 8,4 à 17,6). Les endoprothèses médicamentées avaient été utilisées plus fréquemment (54,4 %) que les endoprothèses non médicamentées (45,6 %), le diamètre médian de l’endoprothèse étant de 3,5 mm (IIQ de 3 à 4) et sa longueur, de 19 mm (IIQ de 18 à 28). Les différences pour ce qui est de l’issue clinique n’étaient pas significatives à l’égard des sites d’ICP (aorto-ostial, corps du greffon, anastomose), de l’utilisation d’une endoprothèse médicamentée, ou encore de l’utilisation de dispositifs de protection. Le taux de mortalité à 1 an était de 3,3 %, alors que le taux combiné d’EVC ou de décès était de 20,3 %. Après 5 ans, le taux de mortalité avait augmenté à 14,9 %, alors que le taux combiné d’EVC ou de décès s’élevait à 40,3 %. Les analyses multivariables ont révélé que la néphropathie chronique était indépendamment associée au décès (rapport des risques instantanés [RRI] de 1,74, intervalle de confiance [IC] à 95 % de 1,16 à 2,61, p = 0,007), alors que l’hypertension (RRI de 2,42, IC à 95 % de 1,32 à 4,42, p = 0,004) et une longueur accrue de l’endoprothèse (RRI de 1,01, IC à 95 % de 1,00 à 1,02, p = 0,007) étaient indépendamment associées à une issue d’EVC ou de décès. Conclusions: Les patients qui ont subi une ICP sur un greffon coronarien présentent des complications considérables sur une période de 5 ans, ce qui souligne le besoin de mettre en place davantage de stratégies de prise en charge pour cette population à risque élevé.

Background: High Blood Pressure (BP) is a dreadful condition worldwide. Available scientific data confirms the antihypertensive potential of traditional plants. Present study was aimed to assess the blood pressure lowering effect of hexane (MURK-HEX), ethyl acetate (MURK-EA) and methanol (MURK-MeOH) extracts of Murraya koenigii leaves in L-NAME induced hypertensive rats with possible mechanism of action. Materials and Methods: Air dried leaves of "Murraya koenigii" were extracted with different organic solvents namely methanol (MURK-MeOH), Hexane (MURK-HEX) and ethyl acetate (MURK-EA). Wistar rats of either sex were used in the study. Hypertension was developed by L-NAME and then data was collected after jugular vein cannulation using Oscillograph and powerlab data acquisition system. For possible mode of action muscarinic pathway was chosen. Data was analysed using SPSS-20 by applying independent sample t-test. Results and Discussion: The invasive method revealed that "MURK-HEX", "MURKEA" and "MURK-MeOH" extracts exhibited significant dose dependent (18.8-50.1) % fall in MABP at the log doses (1, 3, 5, 10 and 30 mg/kg) in normotensive rats. Except, "MURK-HEX", the "MURK-EA" and "MURK-MeOH" altered the BP lowering effect, when these extracts followed by "Atropine" (Atr 10-4M) via intravenous route. Results demonstrate that MURK-EA and MURK-MeOH showed the involvement of muscarinic receptors while hypotensive effect of MURK-HEX may mediate via another pathway. In L-NAME induced hypertensive rats, MURK-HEX, MURK-EA and MURKMeOH exhibited an immediate (18.37-51.93% falls) in MABP but it did not persist for longer time. Conclusion: Murraya koenigii caused a significant decrease in MABP by the stimulation of muscarinic receptor in activation of EDRF which release nitric oxide to produce vasorelaxation. Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a complex multisystem genetic disorder that requires long-term, age-specific monitoring and multidisciplinary care. NF1 symptom burden can significantly affect the quality of life and impose a substantial economic burden on patients and their families. The approval and widespread availability of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MEK) inhibitors such as selumetinib for NF1-related plexiform neurofibromas have revolutionized the standard of care for patients with NF1, however their effective utilization hinges on early recognition of NF1. We present a consensus manuscript describing the challenges observed in the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for diagnosing and managing NF1. Experts from the GCC also present recommendations for the early recognition and management of NF1 and its complications. A referral pathway that can play a crucial role in helping primary healthcare providers refer their patients to experts is also proposed. Increasing the availability and accessibility of genetic testing at an affordable cost and optimizing personalized NF1 care are essential for NF1 management. Developing regional guidelines for NF1 management and establishing NF1 centers of excellence may facilitate better care and outcomes for patients with NF1 in the GCC region.

It is a consensus that Earth’s climate has been warming. The impact of global warming is asymmetric, that is, there is more substantial warming in the daily minimum surface air temperature and lower warming in the maximum surface air temperature. Previous studies have reported diurnal temperature differences greatly affecting winter wheat yield. However, only a few studies have investigated the impact of global warming on the growth and yield of winter wheat, yet the influence of night warming on quality has not been deeply evaluated. In this study, two wheat cultivars were used as materials: Jimai 44 (JM44) with strong gluten and Jimai 22 (JM22) with medium gluten, to explore the effects of high nighttime temperatures (HNTs) on the growth, yield, and quality of wheat. The results show that HNTs significantly shortened seedling emergence and anthesis periods in both cultivars compared with ambient temperatures (ATs). In addition, HNTs increased the respiration rate at anthesis and grain-filling stages, impeding wheat pollination and grain maturity. HNTs also accelerated leaf senescence and increased the number of sterile spikelets and plant height, but decreased the effective tiller number, the number of spikes per unit area, and grains per spike. As a result, the grain yield of JM22 and JM44 was decreased by 24.6% and 21.2%, respectively. Moreover, HNTs negatively influenced the flour quality of the two wheat cultivars. The current findings provide new insights into the effects of HNTs on the growth, development, yield, and quality of different wheat genotypes during the whole growth period.

Background: Cotinine is a major metabolite of nicotine and retains for a substantial time in different body fluids. It is considered as a passive smoke exposure marker. Studies on different biochemical markers of tobacco smoke exposure are lacking in Pakistan and serum continine levels in nonsmokers provide a comprehensive measure of passive smoking from all sources in the last two to three days. Objective: To compare the frequency of serum cotinine detection in smokers, passive smokers and never smokers. Methods: Serum cotinine was analyzed on 135 self reported smokers, never smokers and passive smokers by 17-A gas chromatograph with flame ionization detector (FID) equipped with Supelco SPB-5 fused silica capillary column attached with Class GC 10 Software. Association between the qualitative variables (cotinine present/absent) between groups (smoker, never smoker and passive smoker) was taken out using Pearson chi-square test. The mean difference for serum cotinine between the groups (smoker, never smoker and passive smoker) was evaluated by using kruskal wallis test. P-value less than 0.05 was taken as significant. Results: Serum cotinine was detectable in 72.1% of passive smokers which was a significantly higher proportion than smokers and never smokers (p< 0.001). Conclusion: Cotinine was detectable in the serum of smokers and passive smokers. Passive smoking may contribute to increased serum cotinine levels. Large sample size may be required to establish it as a marker for environmental tobacco smoke exposure marker and for validation of smoking status. Osteoporosis, a systemic bone disease, is characterized by decreased bone mass, deterioration of skeletal structure, and increased bone susceptibility. Age, environment, hormone levels, nutrition, and immunity are all factors that influence bone mass. Currently, intestinal flora has been recently recognized as a key regulator of bone mass. The blood's microbiome role in bone health and in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis remains unknown. In this study, the abundance of various blood's microbial taxa in osteoporosis patients were analyzed. We investigated the associations between prominent bacterial taxa and other clinical indicators (i.e. biochemical, blood cell counts and CT scan). DNA was extracted from the whole blood samples of patients with degenerative bone diseases with or without osteoporosis (i.e. n = 8; ST and n = 12, T group) and healthy controls (n = 4, N group). The 16S rRNA gene sequencing technique was utilized to characterize the blood microbiome taxaThe Shannon–Winner and dilution curves revealed that all the characterized species in the sample and the sequencing data were reliable. The number of bacterial taxa in blood and annotated operational taxonomic units were positively correlated with neutrophils. This support that bacteria exist within or adhere to the neutrophil's membrane. The abundance of Yersinia ruckeri, Rhodanobacter_uncultured bacterium, Enterobacter spp., and Raoultella spp increased in the ST group as compared with the N group. Hence, indicate their potential role in the onset and progression of osteoporosis. These findings provide new insights into the association between blood microbiota and bone health. This study could open a new horizon in exploring the clinical application of blood microbiome to improve bone health.

Abstract Carbon quantum dots derived from the chemical oxidation of D-(+)-glucose have been efficiently synthesized in good yield using a simple and economically viable approach. Carbon quantum dots possess a quasi-spherical structure with facile storage and transport channels for lithium and sodium-ions. When applied as an anode for the lithium-ion battery, the as-prepared quantum dots demonstrate a superior and stable cycling performance after 500 cycles (864.9 mAh g−1 at 0.5 C) with capacity retention of 91.6%, and a good rate performance (340.2 mAh g−1 at 20 C). As a sodium-ion battery anode, the quantum dots present a specific capacity of 323.9 mAh g−1 at 0.5 C and capacity retention of 72.4% after 500 charge/discharge cycles, indicating an excellent cycling stability. A relatively moderate rate performance of 123.6 mAh g−1 is achieved at the 20 C rate. This study demonstrates the use of individual quantum dots as a potential electrode material for lithium-ion, and sodium-ion battery applications, and it will definitely result in the fabrication of new composite materials in the energy-storage field. The extreme downsizing to the quantum regime has led to the achievement of utmost properties that have been prescribed to the quantum effects, efficient ion diffusion, and the charge transfer. Seasonal incongruence in total phenols, total flavonoids, antioxidant and antibacterial activity of lemon grass was studied at Plant Genetic Resources Programme, National Agricultural Research Centre, Islamabad, Pakistan during the year 2015. Highest amounts of total phenols (111.109 mg of GAE/100 g dry wt) and total flavonoids (119.56 mg of CE/100 g dry wt) were detected in methanolic extracts of summer harvest followed by winter harvest. Highly significant differences were observed for season, essential oil/plant extract and concentrations for antioxidant activity. Essential oil from summer harvest possessed maximum free radical scavenging activity (92.45 %) as compared to essential oil and plant extract obtained from other periods. For antibacterial activity, highly significant differences were also detected for season, essential oil concentrations and bacterial strains. Essential oil from summer harvest produced largest zone of inhibition (12.48 mm) against gram negative bacteria X. axonopodis. The data show that in summer season, lemon grass possessed higher amounts of bioactive compounds and thus having better drug potential. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

IntroductionInitiated in June 2019, this collaborative effort involved 15 public and private sector hospitals in Pakistan. The primary objective was to enhance the capacity for pediatric neuro-oncology (PNO) care, supported by a My Child Matters/Foundation S grant.MethodsWe aimed to establish and operate Multidisciplinary Tumor Boards (MTBs) on a national scale, covering 76% of the population (185.7 million people). In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, MTBs transitioned to videoconferencing. Fifteen hospitals with essential infrastructure participated, holding monthly sessions addressing diagnostic and treatment challenges. Patient cases were anonymized for confidentiality. Educational initiatives, originally planned as in-person events, shifted to a virtual format, enabling continued implementation and collaboration despite pandemic constraints.ResultsA total of 124 meetings were conducted, addressing 545 cases. To augment knowledge, awareness, and expertise, over 40 longitudinal lectures were organized for healthcare professionals engaged in PNO care. Additionally, two symposia with international collaborators and keynote speakers were also held to raise national awareness. The project achieved significant milestones, including the development of standardized national treatment protocols for low-grade glioma, medulloblastoma, and high-grade glioma. Further protocols are currently under development. Notably, Pakistan's first pediatric neuro-oncology fellowship program was launched, producing two graduates and increasing the number of trained pediatric neuro-oncologists in the country to three.DiscussionThe initiative exemplifies the potential for capacity building in PNO within low-middle income countries. Success is attributed to intra-national twinning programs, emphasizing collaborative efforts. Efforts are underway to establish a national case registry for PNO, ensuring a comprehensive and organized approach to monitoring and managing cases. This collaborative initiative, supported by the My Child Matters/Foundation S grant, showcases the success of capacity building in pediatric neuro-oncology in low-middle income countries. The establishment of treatment protocols, fellowship programs, and regional tumor boards highlights the potential for sustainable improvements in PNO care.

Due to inadequate treatment, diabetes mellitus, which is characterized by hyperglycemia, is a global health challenge that requires creative management techniques. This study explores the therapeutic potential of Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench fruit extracts in diabetes, offering an ample approach includes phytochemical analysis, qualitative and quantitative assessments, antidiabetic efficacy, antioxidant potential, and in vivo and in vitro investigations. Thin-layer chromatography (TLC), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) were utilized to disclose the phytochemical profile of the fruit extracts, which indicated a diverse range of bioactive compounds. Four polyphenolic compounds including chlorogenic acid, quercetin, rutin, and morin were confirmed by HPLC fingerprinting, with rutin being the most prevalent. Qualitative analysis reveals the presence of carbohydrates, emodin, terpenoids, lignin, glycosides, and anthraquinones, while indicating the absence of amino acids, anthocyanins, phlobatannins, lactones, and leucoanthocyanins. Quantitative analysis reveals total phenolic, tannin, and flavonoid. In vitro assessments demonstrate the ability of the extracts to inhibit alpha amylase. Radical scavenging activities were evaluated through DPPH assay, underscoring their antioxidant capacity with high effect in methanol extracts. Additionally, the methanol extract decreased the blood glucose level of Type 2 diabetic mice. Notably, test samples stabilized blood glucose levels, reversed deviations in blood profile parameters, blood biochemistry, and regulated organ weight. Based on its antioxidant and antidiabetic effects, as well as positive effects on the physiology of Type 2 diabetic mice, A. esculentus emerges as an important nutraceutical vegetable. As an important nutraceutical vegetable, it holds promise for diabetes management. A. esculentus can be incorporated into dietary interventions for individuals with diabetes, harnessing its natural antioxidant and antidiabetic properties. Our findings validate the traditional use of A. esculentus in green therapeutics. In conclusion, A. esculentus emerges as a valuable ally in the fight against diabetes, bridging the gap between ancient wisdom and modern science. Further research and practical implementation are warranted to fully realize its potential.

Chromium nitride (CrN) synthesized by heating at 550 °C under a continuous stream of ammonia has been investigated as anode material for lithium electrochemistry. Due to its low lithium insertion potential, Cr is an attractive material for lithium–ion battery application, but the usual volume variation effect obstructs its practical use. In this study, different concentrations of carbon nanotubes doped with nitrogen (NCNTs) are combined with CrN to attain high electrochemical performance. The synthesized CrN/0.08%–NCNTs nanocomposite demonstrates network structure with 30–40 nm CrN nanoparticles anchored to specific sites on 40–60 nm diameter NCNTs. Upon electrochemical testing, CrN/0.08%–NCNTs nanocomposite displays a discharge capacity of 1172 mAh g −1 after 200 cycles with high coulombic efficiency (∼100%) and rate capability. The electrode can deliver a reversible capacity of 1042.9 mAh g −1 at 20 C. The n-type concentration, along with the conductive CNTs framework, mesoporous channels, appropriate surface area and buffering capability of CNTs, are together responsible for the excellent electrochemical performance. The electrochemical reaction mechanism of CrN with lithium is explored by investigating the structural changes using ex situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, selected area electron diffraction, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The present study describes the synthesis of nanocomposite materials based on chromium oxide (Cr 2 O 3 ) nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) (Cr 2 O 3 –CNT (x%) ) by in-situ chemical co-precipitation method. The physical studies of these materials using a wide range of analytical techniques reveal high surface area and narrow pore size distribution of these nanocomposite materials, indicating homogenous dispersion of Cr 2 O 3 nanoparticles (particle sizes ∼20-30 nm) on the surface of CNTs. The first cycle discharge capacity of 1120 mAhg -1 for electrodes fabricated from Cr 2 O 3 alone, which is improved for Cr 2 O 3 –CNT (0.08%) nanocomposite (1199 mAhg -1 ). This nanocomposite material achieved an overall reversible capacity of 995.3 mAhg -1 after 200 cycles, which can be attributed to the high surface area and the large mesoporous volume of Cr 2 O 3 nanoparticles interconnected with highly conducting network of CNTs. At higher current densities, the Cr 2 O 3 –CNT (x%) nanocomposite electrodes exhibited high lithium storage capacity compared to the electrode fabricated from Cr 2 O 3 nanoparticles alone. Overall, the Cr 2 O 3 –CNT (0.08%) nanocomposite electrode displayed high stability under varying current rates with overall high capacity retention and highest reversible capacity of 719 mAhg -1 at a current rate of 2000 mAhg -1 . This highly enhanced rate capability and excellent cycling stability of Cr 2 O 3 –CNT (0.08%) nanocomposite electrode can be ascribed to the synergistic effect of CNTs (anchored with the Cr 2 O 3 nanoparticles). The outcome of this study offers a possibility of improving lithium ion storage of Cr 2 O 3 nanoparticles by carefully controlling their size and shape along with the use of a suitable buffering matrix like CNTs. Background: In patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), selecting an antithrombotic regimen requires balancing risks of ischemic cardiac events, stroke, and bleeding. Methods: We studied 467 patients with AF undergoing PCI in the time period from December 2015 to July 2018 identified via a chart audit by 47 Canadian cardiologists in the CONNECT AF+PCI (the Coordinated National Network to Engage Interventional Cardiologists in the Antithrombotic Treatment of Patients With Atrial Fibrillation Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) study, to determine patterns of initial antithrombotic therapy selection. Results: The median (25th, 75th percentile) CHADS2 score was 2 (1, 3), and PCI was performed in the setting of acute coronary syndrome in 62.1%. Triple antithrombotic therapy (TAT) was the initial treatment in 62.7%, dual-pathway therapy in 25.7%, and dual antiplatelet therapy in 11.6%, with a temporal increase in use of dual-pathway therapy during the course of the study; median intended TAT duration was 1 (1, 3) month. Compared with patients selected for TAT, patients selected for dual-pathway therapy were less likely to have prior myocardial infarction (35.8% vs 25.8%, P = 0.045) and prior PCI (33.8% vs 23.3%, P = 0.03), and they received shorter total length of stents (38 [23, 56] vs 30 [20, 46] mm, P = 0.03). Patients selected for dual-pathway therapy had a higher prevalence of prior stroke/transient ischemic attack (13.0% vs 23.3%, P = 0.01). There was no difference in prevalence of anemia (21.5% vs 25.8%, P = 0.30). Use of dual-pathway therapy was similar among patients with acute coronary syndrome and those with stable disease (24.1% vs 28.2%, P = 0.32). Conclusions: Approximately one-quarter of AF patients undergoing PCI are treated with dual-pathway therapy in Canadian practice, with its use increasing during the studied period. Patients selected for dual-pathway therapy have less-complex coronary disease history and intervention. Méthodes: Les 467 patients atteints de FA ayant subi une ICP de décembre 2015 à juillet 2018 qui ont fait l’objet de notre étude ont été trouvés lors de la vérification des dossiers par 47 cardiologues canadiens de l’étude CONNECT AF+PCI (Coordinated National Network to Engage Interventional Cardiologists in the Antithrombotic Treatment of Patients With Atrial Fibrillation Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) pour déterminer les schémas de sélection du traitement antithrombotique initial. Résultats: Le score CHADS2 médian (25e, 75e percentile) était de 2 (1, 3), et l’ICP avait été réalisée dans le cadre du syndrome coronarien aigu chez 62,1 % des patients. Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the leading causes of cancer-associated death across the globe. Malignant ascites are the major clinical attributes in cancer patients. Despite the advancements in HCC treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, and hormonal therapy, researchers are pursuing novel natural edible compounds for the treatment of cancer to eliminate dreadful side effects. Pleurotus ostreatus is one of the most edible cuisines in Asia as well as all over the world. It has been a source of nutritious diet since it was classified as an edible mushroom with no or negligible side effects. The present study focused on the natural anti-cancerous and anti-ascites capabilities of polysaccharides extracted from Pleurotus ostreatus in-vivo as well as in-vitro. Administration of polysaccharide Pleurotus ostreatus showed a significant decrease in tumor cell metastasis while the increase in the survival period among mice models of H22 malignant ascites. Downregulation of regenerative genes Foxp3 and Stat3 and secretion of immunological factors such as IL-2, TNF α, and INF γ were observed after treating with the partially pure extracted polysaccharide. Twining with the hypothesis of tumor suppression in-vivo model polysaccharide showed a decrease in invasion and migration abilities and henceforth responsible for the gene regulation such Cytochrome C which supposedly induced the chain of gene regulation process resulting in apoptosis in HCC cell lines observed in-vitro experiments. Collective research findings manifested that polysaccharide extracted from Pleurotus ostreatus bears anti-proliferative activity and thus influence tumor suppression in-vivo and in-vitro against hepatocellular carcinoma and can be used for therapeutic purposes as a potential anti-cancerous source in the future.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus (LBS) is a well-documented probiotic strain in oncology and has a pivotal role in clinical applications. Here, we have investigated the protective effect of Lactobacillus rhamnosus on intestinal mucositis induced by cisplatin (CP) and explored the underlying mechanisms targeting inflammatory proteins, as well as the histological changes in the intestinal tissue of mice, in addition, the bacterial strains that may be related to the health-enhancing properties. BALB/c mice were pre-treated with or without LBS via oral gavage, followed by mucositis induction with cisplatin. Our results revealed that the LBS-treated groups significantly attenuated proinflammatory cytokine levels (IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α) compared to the CP group. Furthermore, LBS mitigated the damaged tight junction integrity caused by CP via up-regulating the levels of claudin, occludin, ZO-1, and mucin-2 protein (MUC-2). Finally, the 16S rRNA fecal microbiome genomic analysis showed that LBS administration enhanced the growth of beneficial bacteria, i.e., Firmicutes and Lachnospiraceae, while the relative abundance of the opportunistic bacteria Bacteroides and Proteobacteria decreased. Collectively, LBS was found to beneficially modulate microbial composition structure and functions and enrich the ecological diversity in the gut.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a persistent, lifelong inflammation of the digestive system. Dextran sulfate sodium is commonly used to induce colitis in experimental animal models, which causes epithelial damage, intestinal inflammation, mucin depletion, and dysbiosis of the gut microbiota. Various prebiotics, polysaccharides, and polypeptides are used for IBD treatment. In this study, we used a murine model utilizing BALB/c mice, with 10 mice per group, to investigate the treatment effect of sea conch peptide hydrolysate (CPH) on DSS-induced colitis mice. Colitis was induced through the administration of 2.5% DSS in drinking water over a seven-days period. Furthermore, on the eighth day of the experiment, sea conch peptide hydrolysate (CPH) at low (100 mg/kg), medium (200 mg/kg), and high (400 mg/kg) doses, which were continued for 14 days, were assessed for medicinal purposes in DSS-induced colitis mice. Our results showed that CPH treatment significantly alleviated the severity and symptoms of colitis. The epithelial integrity and histological damage were improved. Intestinal inflammation and inflammatory cell infiltration were improved. Furthermore, the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines was reduced, and intestinal barrier integrity was restored by elevating the tight junction proteins. Moreover, 16s RNA sequencing revealed dysbiosis of the gut microbiota was observed upon DSS treatment, which was reinstated after CPH treatment. An increased level of Firmicutes and Lactobacillus was observed in the treatment groups. Finally, our results suggest that CPH would be recommended as a functional food source and also have the potential to be used as a medicinal product for different gastrointestinal disorders.

Abstract Silver nanoparticles (Ag. NPs) have shown a biological activity range, synthesized under different environment-friendly approaches. Ag. NPs were synthesized using aqueous crude extract (ACE) isolated from Plantago lanceolata. The ACE and Ag. NPs were characterized and assessed their biological and antioxidant activities. The existence of nanoparticles (NPs) was confirmed by color shift, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and UV–Vis’s spectroscopy. The FT-IR analysis indicated the association of biomolecules (phenolic acid and flavonoids) to reduce silver (Ag+) ions. The SEM study demonstrated a sphere-shaped and mean size in the range of 30 ± 4 nm. The EDX spectrum revealed that the Ag. NPs were composed of 54.87% Ag with 20 nm size as identified by SEM and TEM. AFM has ended up being exceptionally useful in deciding morphological elements and the distance across of Ag. NPs in the scope of 23–30 nm. The TEM image showed aggregations of NPs and physical interaction. Ag. NPs formation also confirmed by XPS, DRS and BET studies. Ag. NPs showed efficient activity as compared to ACE, and finally, the bacterial growth was impaired by biogenic NPs. The lethal dose (LD50) of Ag. NPs against Agrobacterium tumefaciens, Proteus vulgaris, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli were 45.66%, 139.71%, 332.87%, and 45.54%, with IC50 (08.02 ± 0.68), (55.78 ± 1.01), (12.34 ± 1.35) and (11.68 ± 1.42) respectively, suppressing the growth as compared to ACE. The antioxidant capacity, i.e., 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) of Ag. NPs were assayed. ACE and Ag. NPs achieved a peak antioxidant capacity of 62.43 ± 2.4 and 16.85 ± 0.4 μg mL−1, compared to standard (69.60 ± 1.1 at 100 μg mL−1) with IC50 (369.5 ± 13.42 and 159.5 ± 10.52 respectively). Finally, the Ag. NPs synthesized by P. lanceolata extract have an excellent source of bioactive natural products (NP). Outstanding antioxidant, antibacterial activities have been shown by NPs and can be used in various biological techniques in future research.

ABSTRACT: Background: Given changes in the care and outcomes of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients over the past several decades, we sought to develop prediction models that could be used to generate accurate risk-adjusted mortality and readmission outcomes for hospitals in current practice across Canada. Methods: A Canadian national expert panel was convened to define appropriate AMI patients for reporting and develop prediction models. Preliminary candidate variable evaluation was conducted using Ontario patients hospitalized with a most responsible diagnosis of AMI from April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2018. National data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information was used to develop AMI prediction models. The main outcomes were 30-day all-cause in-hospital mortality and 30-day urgent all-cause readmission. Discrimination of these models (measured by c-statistics) was compared with that of existing Canadian Institute for Health Information models in the same study cohort. Results: The AMI mortality model was assessed in 54,240 Ontario AMI patients and 153,523 AMI patients across Canada. We observed a 30-day in-hospital mortality rate of 6.3%, and a 30-day all-cause urgent readmission rate of 10.7% in Canada. The final Canadian AMI mortality model included 12 variables and had a c-statistic of 0.834. For readmission, the model had 13 variables and a c-statistic of 0.679. Discrimination of the new AMI models had higher c-statistics compared with existing models (c-statistic 0.814 for mortality; 0.673 for readmission). Conclusions: In this national collaboration, we developed mortality and readmission models that are suitable for profiling performance of hospitals treating AMI patients in Canada. RÉSUMÉ: Contexte: Compte tenu des changements apportés au cours des dernières décennies aux soins des patients ayant subi un infarctus aigu du myocarde (IAM) et aux issues d'un tel événement, nous avons voulu élaborer des modèles prédictifs pouvant servir à calculer de façon précise les résultats relatifs à la mortalité et aux réadmissions, ajustés selon les risques, pour les hôpitaux dans la pratique actuelle au Canada. Méthodologie: Un groupe national d'experts canadiens a été mis sur pied et a reçu le mandat de définir les critères appropriés applicables aux patients ayant subi un IAM aux fins de déclaration des cas et d’élaborer des modèles prédictifs. L’évaluation préliminaire des variables proposées a été effectuée à partir de patients hospitalisés en Ontario entre le 1er avril 2015 et le 31 mars 2018 chez lesquels l'IAM était le diagnostic principal à l'origine de l'hospitalisation. Les données à l’échelle nationale de l'Institut canadien d'information sur la santé (ICIS) ont été utilisées pour élaborer des modèles prédictifs d'IAM. Les deux principales issues évaluées étaient la mortalité hospitalière toutes causes confondues à 30 jours et la réadmission urgente toutes causes confondues à 30 jours. Le pouvoir discriminant de ces modèles (mesuré par la statistique C) a été comparé à celui des modèles existants de l'ICIS dans la même cohorte de l’étude. Résultats: Le modèle de mortalité par IAM a été évalué auprès de patients ayant subi un IAM, dont 54 240 en Ontario et 153 523 dans l'ensemble du Canada.
