Abstract

The present study was designed to investigate the expression dynamics of genes during myogenesis in quail and chicken. Real-time PCR was used to detect mRNA expressions of MyoD, MyoG, MLP and MSTN in breast muscle of quail and chicken embryos during the period of embryonic days E7-17. Results showed that expression profiles of each gene displayed similar trend in the experiment period between quail and chicken, however, the expression concentration between the two species differed at the same time detected. Abstract

ZnO is a wide band gap semiconductor metal oxide that not only has excellent electrical properties but also shows excellent gas-sensitive properties and is a promising material for the development of NO2 sensors. However, the current ZnO-based gas sensors usually operate at high temperatures, which greatly increases the energy consumption of the sensors and is not conducive to practical applications. Therefore, there is a need to improve the gas sensitivity and practicality of ZnO-based gas sensors. In this study, three-dimensional sheet-flower ZnO was successfully synthesized at 60 °C by a simple water bath method and modulated by different malic acid concentrations. The phase formation, surface morphology, and elemental composition of the prepared samples were studied by various characterization techniques. The gas sensor based on sheet-flower ZnO has a high response value to NO2 without any modification. The optimal operating temperature is 125 °C, and the response value to 1 ppm NO2 is 125. At the same time, the sensor also has a lower detection limit (100 ppb), good selectivity, and good stability, showing excellent sensing performance. Abstract

The viscosity of crude oil is of importance in development and pipeline transportation. The shear thickening phenomenon of viscosity of a Shengli crude oil was studied by steady shear and transient shear experiments at 16.6 °C, which is about 2.2 °C higher than its pour point. The crude oil appears shear thickening viscosity at the low shear rate from 0.001 s−1 to approximate 0.05 s−1 in experiments, which is reported secondly here and similar to the viscosity-thickening behavior of the oil reported firstly in 2017. The shear thickening becomes weak as the temperature rises in the steady shear experiment. Shearing at a low shear rate can strengthen or increase the viscosity of the crude oil. 327. Identification, Pathogenicity, and Fungicide Sensitivity of Ascochyta caulina (Teleomorph: Neocamarosporium calvescens) Associated with Black Stem on Quinoa in China

Abstract

Quinoa black stem is a new disease that affects the stems of quinoa plants and is more likely to develop under cool conditions (15 to 25°C, RH = 55 ± 2%). The typical symptoms include the formation of black necrotic lesions on the stem, which can completely wrap around the stem, causing lodging and blanking (development of ‘empty’ and sterile grain on the panicle). Furthermore, the pycnidia form small round protrusions on the surface of the lesions. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that representative isolates LMHS-3 and LMHS-5 were closely related to Ascochyta caulina (teleomorph: Neocamarosporium calvescens). Comprehensive morphological and molecular characterizations confirmed A. caulina as the pathogen that caused quinoa black stem. A. caulina mainly infected quinoa stems and could produce many pycnidia, but it rarely infected quinoa leaves. Pathogenicity testing showed that the most suitable temperature for the onset of quinoa black stem was from 15 to 25°C. When the temperature was increased above 30°C, the conidial germination of A. caulina became malformed, and when the temperature was decreased below 5°C, mycelium growth of A. caulina became extremely slow; thus, both extreme high and low temperatures affected the pathogenicity of A. caulina. Mancozeb and azoxystrobin fungicides were revealed to have had the strongest inhibitory effects on the conidial germination of A. caulina, and in some cases caused malformations in conidial germination. Tebuconazole and difenoconazole had the strongest inhibitory effects on A. caulina mycelial growth and less on the effects on the conidial germination. The results of the present study provide a basis for the recognition and management of quinoa black stem.
