Purpose: In non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), success of targeted therapy has promoted researches explicitly orientated based on genetic background. Although PTEN deficiency is common in NSCLC, carcinogenesis about such genetic type has not been fully explored. Here, we have found that classical tumor suppressor P53 could be modulated by deacetylase sirtuin-3 (SIRT3) depending on the PTEN condition in NSCLC, which may be a novel breakpoint for handling PTEN deficiency NSCLC.Methods: First, we examined SIRT3 and P53 expression files in PTEN-deficient NSCLC clinical samples and investigated their correlation. Second, we built SIRT3 high or low expression models in different PTEN conditions by plasmid overexpression or si-RNA interference in NSCLC cell lines and explored the effect of SIRT3 upon P53. Furthermore, we investigated the influence of SIRT3 upon the ubiquitin–proteasome dependent degradation pathway of P53 in PTEN-deficient NSCLC cell lines. Finally, we probed into the deacetylation modification of P53 via SIRT3.Results: We found that SIRT3 expression was strongly positive and P53 expression was almost negative in PTEN-deficient NSCLC clinical samples. Further, we demonstrated that SIRT3 promoted degradation of P53 in PTEN-deficient NSCLC cell lines via the ubiquitin–proteasome pathway. Finally, we demonstrated that SIRT3 could deacetylate P53 at lysines 320 and 382, which may account for the observed degradation of P53 in PTEN-deficient tumor cells.Conclusions: We have identified a novel mechanism by which P53 was inactivated via SIRT3 in PTEN-deficient cells. The recently explored FeNb11O29 is an advanced anode material for lithium-ion batteries, owing to its high specific capacity and safety. However, it suffers from poor rate capability. To tackle this issue, a crystal structure modification is employed. Defective FeNb11O29 (FeNb11O27.9) is fabricated by using a one-step solid-state reaction method in N2. FeNb11O27.9 has the same orthorhombic shear ReO3 crystal structure ( Amma space group) as FeNb11O29, but a larger unit-cell volume and 3.8 % O2− vacancies (vs. all O2− ions), which improve the Li+-ion diffusion coefficient by a factor of 88.3 %. The contained Nb4+ ions with free 4 d electrons significantly increase the electronic conductivity by three orders of magnitude. Consequently, FeNb11O27.9 shows improved pseudocapacitive behavior and electrochemical properties. In comparison with FeNb11O29, FeNb11O27.9 exhibits a higher reversible capacity of 270 mAh g−1 with a higher first-cycle coulombic efficiency of 90.6 % at 0.1 C. At 10 C, FeNb11O27.9 still retains a high capacity of 145 mAh g−1 with low capacity loss of 6.9 % after 200 cycles, in contrast to the values of 99 mAh g−1 and 11.1 % obtained for FeNb11O29. Today, electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbing materials with strong absorption capacity alone are hardly enough to meet the growing problem of EMW pollution. This work is the first designs and synthesizes LaFeO 3 -decorated nitrogen (N)-doped reduced graphene oxide aerogel (LFO/N-rGO) novel composites by a simple hydrothermal method. When the mass ratio of the LaFeO 3 (LFO) nanoparticles: graphene oxide (GO): urea is 1:5:7.5, LFO/N-rGO achieves broadband absorption while possessing strong electromagnetic wave absorption capability. A strong reflection loss (RL) of −64.5 dB is obtained at 9.2 GHz. In addition, the maximum effective absorption bandwidth with a 2.83 mm thickness can reach up to 6.72 GHz. The EMW absorption mechanism analysis shows that the excellent microwave absorption capability is mainly attributed to the enhanced multiple reflections and multi-scattering, enhanced interfacial polarization process, proper conduction loss, and optimized impedance matching characteristics. Herein, this work proposes a new approach to improve the microwave absorption capability of N-doped reduced graphene oxide-based composites and provides a novel strategy to design EMW absorbing materials with wide effective absorption bandwidth and strong absorption capacity. Highly efficient saturation up-conversion (UC) luminescent Y2O3:Er3+ microspheres have been successfully prepared via a hydrothermal-homogeneous precipitation method. Bright visible luminescence can be clearly seen with a 1.55 μm laser diode excitation power as low as ∼0.03 W cm−2. The up-conversion (UC) emission spectra indicate that the strongest red emission with a peak situated at ∼660 nm originated from the 4I9/2→4I15/2 transition of Er3+. The peaks situated at ∼520 and 550 nm can be assigned to the transition from 2H11/2/4S3/2 state to the ground state of Er3+. The high efficient saturation up-conversion emission is related to the highly crystalline structure. These results indicate a new way to enhance UC radiation in rare-earth ion-doped materials prepared using a hydrothermal-homogeneous precipitation method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
