The low efficiency of metal halide perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) with blue emission block their potential applications in large-area full-color displays and solid-state lighting. A delicate control over the entire electroluminescence process is indispensable to overcome the efficiency limitations of blue PeLEDs. Here, we demonstrate an efficient device architecture to synergistically reduce the energetic losses during electron-photon conversion and boost the extraction of trapped light in the device. An interfacial nucleation seeding scheme is proposed to control the crystallization process of highly emissive perovskite nanocrystals and suppress the trap-mediated non-radiative recombination losses due to interfacial hydrogen bonding interactions. This manipulation results in a record external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 12.8% for blue PeLEDs emitting at 486 nm, along with the improved spectral stability and operation lifetime. Additionally, the maximum EQE reaches 16.8% after combining an internal outcoupling structure without spectral distortion, which can be further raised to 27.5% when using a lens-based structure on top of the device. We anticipate that our work provides an effective method for its application in high-performance PeLEDs.

The next-to-leading order (NLO) ($\mathcal{O}(\alpha_s^3)$) corrections for gluon fragmentation functions to a heavy quark-antiquark pair in ${^{3}\hspace{-0.6mm}P_{J}^{[1,8]}}$ states are calculated within the NRQCD factorization. We use integration-by-parts reduction and differential equations to semi-analytically calculate fragmentation functions in full-QCD, and find that infrared divergences can be absorbed by the NRQCD long distance matrix elements. Thus, the NRQCD factorization conjecture is verified at two-loop level via a physical process, which is free of artificial ultraviolet divergences. Through matching procedure, infrared-safe short distance coefficients and $\mathcal{O}(\alpha_s^2)$ perturbative NRQCD matrix elements $\langle{\mathcal O}^{{^{3}\hspace{-0.6mm}P_{J}^{[1,8]}}}({^{3}\hspace{-0.6mm}S_{1}^{[8]}})\rangle_{\mathrm{NLO}}$ are obtained simultaneously. Regression machine learning is widely applied to predict various materials. However, insufficient materials data usually leads to a poor performance. Here, we develop a new voting data-driven method that could generally improve the performance of regression learning model for accurately predicting properties of materials. We apply it to investigate a large family (2135) of two-dimensional hexagonal binary compounds focusing on ferroelectric properties and find that the performance of the model for electric polarization is indeed greatly improved, where 38 stable ferroelectrics with out-of-plane polarization including 31 metals and 7 semiconductors are screened out. By an unsupervised learning, actionable information such as how the number and orbital radius of valence electrons, ionic polarizability, and electronegativity of constituent atoms affect polarization was extracted. Our voting data-driven method not only reduces the size of materials data for constructing a reliable learning model but also enables to make precise predictions for targeted functional materials., Comment: 22 pages, 5 figures

We extend the nonrelativistic QCD framework to explore the nature of the newly discovered di-$J/\psi$ resonances. Assuming them as either molecule-like states or tetraquarks, we calculated their hadroproduction cross sections at the LHC. We find that the observed resonances are most likely spin-2 particles, and there should exist their spin-0 counterparts near these resonances. The ratio of production cross sections of the observed resonances to the latent spin-0 ones are also presented, which might help to distinguish molecule-like states from tetraquarks.

We extend the auxiliary-mass-flow (AMF) method originally developed for Feynman loop integration to calculate integrals involving also phase-space integration. Flow of the auxiliary mass from the boundary ($\infty$) to the physical point ($0^+$) is obtained by numerically solving differential equations with respective to the auxiliary mass. For problems with two or more kinematical invariants, the AMF method can be combined with traditional differential equation method by providing systematical boundary conditions and highly nontrivial self-consistent check. The method is described in detail with a pedagogical example of $e^+e^-\rightarrow \gamma^* \rightarrow t\bar{t}+X$ at NNLO. Cosmic metals are widely believed to be produced by supernovae (SNe) and compact object mergers. Here, we discuss the nucleosynthesis of neutrino-dominated accretion flows (NDAFs) with outflows in the core-collapse SNe (CCSNe), and show that the outflows from NDAFs can have a significant contribution to the $^{56}$Ni abundance in the faint explosions if the masses of the progenitor stars are within about $25-50$ $M_\odot$. Less massive progenitor stars can produce more $^{56}$Ni than their more massive counterparts in the NDAF outflow nucleosynthesis channel. Therefore, we find that the total (i.e., CCSNe and NDAF outflows) $^{56}$Ni mass per CCSN depends only weakly upon the mass of progenitor stars. In the metallicity evolution, the ratio of $^{56}$Fe (decayed by $^{56}$Ni) mass to the initial total gas mass can increase by $\sim$ 1.95 times if the upper limits of the nucleosynthesis yields from NDAF outflows and CCSNe are considered. Magnetic monopoles play a central role in various areas of fundamental physics, ranging from electromagnetism to topological states of matter. While their observation is elusive in high-energy physics, monopole sources of artificial gauge fields have been recently identified in synthetic matter. String theory, a potentially unifying framework that encompasses quantum mechanics, promotes the conventional \emph{vector} gauge fields of electrodynamics to \emph{tensor} gauge fields, and predicts the existence of more exotic \emph{tensor monopoles} in 4D space. Here we report on the characterization of a tensor monopole synthesized in a 4D parameter space by the spin degrees of freedom of a single solid-state defect in diamond. Using two complementary methods, we characterize the tensor monopole by measuring its quantized topological charge and its emanating Kalb-Ramond field. By introducing a fictitious external field that breaks chiral symmetry, we further observe an intriguing transition in the spectrum, characterized by spectral rings protected by mirror symmetries. The 2175 {\AA} ultraviolet (UV) extinction bump in interstellar medium (ISM) of the Milky Way was discovered in 1965. After intensive exploration of more than a half century, however, its exact origin still remains a big conundrum that is being debated. Here we propose a mixture model by which the extinction bump in ISM is argued possibly relevant to the clusters of hydrogenated T-carbon (HTC) molecules (C40H16) that have intrinsically a sharp absorption peak at the wavelength 2175 {\AA}. By linearly combining the calculated absorption spectra of HTC mixtures, graphite, MgSiO3 and Fe2SiO4, we show that the UV extinction curves of optional six stars can be nicely fitted. We propose that a kind of four-dimensional (4D) Hamiltonians, which host tensor monopoles related to quantum metric tensor in even dimensions, can be simulated by ultracold atoms in the optical lattices. The topological properties and bulk-boundary correspondence of tensor monopoles are investigated in detail. By fixing the momentum along one of the dimensions, it can be reduced to an effective three-dimensional model manifesting with a nontrivial chiral insulator phase. Using the semiclassical Boltzmann equation, we calculate the longitudinal resistance against the magnetic field $B$ and find the negative relative magnetoresistance effect of approximately $ -B^{2} $ dependence when a hyperplane cuts through the tensor monopoles in the parameter space. We also propose an experimental scheme to realize this 4D Hamiltonian by introducing an external cyclical parameter in a 3D optical lattice. Moreover, we show that the quantum metric tensor and Berry curvature can be detected by applying an external drive in the optical lattices.

We present for the first time complete next-to-next-to-leading-order coefficient functions to match flavor non-singlet quark correlation functions in position space, which are calculable in lattice QCD, to parton distribution functions (PDFs). Using PDFs extracted from experimental data and our calculated matching coefficients, we predict valence-quark correlation functions that can be confronted by lattice QCD calculations. The uncertainty of our predictions is greatly reduced with higher order matching coefficients. By performing Fourier transformation, we also obtain matching coefficients for corresponding quasi-PDFs and pseudo-PDFs. Our method of calculations can be readily generalized to evaluate the matching coefficients for sea-quark and gluon correlation functions, putting the program to extract partonic structure of hadrons from lattice QCD calculations to be comparable with and complementary to that from experimental measurements., Comment: 14 pages, 2 figures; analytical matching coefficients for quark correlation functions, quasi-PDFs and pseudo-PDFs added; version to be published in PRL

The performances of optical fibre-based quantum information systems are limited by the intrinsic properties of silica glass materials, e.g. high latency, Rayleigh-scattering loss wavelength scaling law, and cross-coupling induced modal impurity. Hollow-core optical fibre (HCF) promises to unify air-borne light propagation and non-line-of-sight transmission, thus holding great potentials for versatile photonics-based quantum infor-mation applications. The early version of HCF based on photonic-bandgap guidance has not proven itself as a reliable quantum channel because of the poor modal purity in both spatial and polarization domains, as well as significant difficulty in fabrication when the wavelength shifts to the visible region. In this work, based on the polarization degree of freedom, we first, to the best of our knowledge, demonstrate high-fidelity (~0.98) single-photon transmission and distribution of entangled photons over a conjoined-tube hollow-core fibre (CTF) by using commercial silicon single-photon avalanche photodiodes. Our CTF realized the combined merits of low loss, high spatial mode purity, low polarization degradation, and low chromatic dispersion. We also demonstrate single-photon low latency (~99.96% speed of light in vacuum) transmission, thus paving the way for extensive uses of HCF links in versatile polarization-based quantum information processing.

We study the effect of magnetic field on heavy quark-antiquark pair in both Einstein-Maxwell(EM) and Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton(EMD) model. The interquark distance, free energy, entropy, binding energy and internal energy of the heavy quarkonium are calculated. It is found that the free energy suppresses and the entropy increases quickly with the increase of the magnetic field $B$. The binding energy vanishes at smaller distance when increasing the magnetic field, which indicates the quark-antiquark pair dissociates at smaller distance. The internal energy which consists of free energy and entropy will increase at large separating distance for non-vanishing magnetic field. These conclusions are consistent both in the EM and EMD model. Moreover, we also find that the quarkonium will dissociate easier in the parallel direction than that in the transverse direction for EMD model, but the conclusion is opposite in EM model. Lattice results are in favor of EMD model. Besides, a Coulomb-plus-linear potential(Cornell potential) can be realized only in EMD model. Thus, a dilaton field is proved to be important in holographic model. Finally, we also show that the free energy, entropy and internal energy of a single quark in EMD model with the presence of magnetic field., Comment: 21 pages, 13 figures

In this paper, we present a general method that can improve the sample quality of pre-trained likelihood based generative models. Our method constructs an energy function on the latent variable space that yields an energy function on samples produced by the pre-trained generative model. The energy based model is efficiently trained by maximizing the data likelihood, and after training, new samples in the latent space are generated from the energy based model and passed through the generator to producing samples in observation space. We show that using our proposed method, we can greatly improve the sample quality of popular likelihood based generative models, such as normalizing flows and VAEs, with very little computational overhead., Comment: 15 pages

Quantum anomalies offer a useful guide for the exploration of transport phenomena in topological semimetals. In this work, we introduce a model describing a semimetal in four spatial dimensions, whose nodal points act like tensor monopoles in momentum space. This system is shown to exhibit monopole-to-monopole phase transitions, as signaled by a change in the value of the topological Dixmier-Douady invariant as well as by the associated surface states on its boundary. We use this model to reveal an intriguing "4D parity magnetic effect", which stems from a parity-type anomaly. In this effect, topological currents are induced upon time-modulating the separation between the fictitious monopoles in the presence of a magnetic perturbation. Besides its theoretical implications in both condensed matter and quantum field theory, the peculiar 4D magnetic effect revealed by our model could be measured by simulating higher-dimensional semimetals in synthetic matter.
