TR&T (Tubular Roof & Trench) method has been invented for safety and effectiveness on underground construction recently. In this research, firstly, TR&T method was verified by numerical analysis results compared with field measurement. Then, case study on practical applications at various areas in Korea was performed to inspect the behavior of TR&T and ground based on numerical approach. Case study was composed of 3 items such as large sectional excavation for box structure, cross excavation beneath the existing railway, excavation adjacent to the existing box structure. 2 and 3 dimensional analyses were employed to simulate sequential construction and examine the behavior of steel pipe and soils. From the results, overall behavior and performance of TR&T system were thoroughly analyzed. This work presents a new method for extracting the intrinsic source and drain resistances in MOSFETs. This is based on the open-collector method in the parasitic bipolar junction transistor (sourcebody-drain) parallel to the MOSFET. By using the Ebers-Moll equivalent model for bipolar junction transistors, the source and drain resistances are extracted separately excluding the resistance formed by the LDD region. Combining the current-voltage characteristics under a linear operation mode of MOSFETs, we can also extract the LDD-parts in the total resistance.

A packet classification method through hierarchical rulebase partitioning. The packet classification method for searching for a rule having a highest priority and matching among a plurality of rules included in a specified rulebase with respect to a packet input from an external network and processing the packet according to the searched rule. The method includes: a preprocessing step of partitioning the rulebase into a plurality of independent sub-rulebases based on a specified condition and producing a hash table on the basis of the sub-rulebases; and a classification step of classifying the packet by searching the hash table using a hash key extracted from a packet header of the inputted packet and mapping the packet on the sub-rulebase corresponding to the packet.

It has been suggested that the anterior glands may be larger, produce more milk or provide a more comfortable position for piglets (Donald, 1937; Gill and Thomson, 1956) while others have suggested that there is no difference in milk yield among teats (Hartman et al., 1962; Pond et al., 1962). The real advantage of the anterior mammary glands of sows for the suckling pig remains unclear. We have demonstrated that substantial mammary growth occurs during lactation in the sows (Kim et al., 1999). This study was designed to relate teat preference and piglet growth with gland size and composition. Our hypothesis is that there are differences between anterior and posterior glands in size and composition and that these differences may be related to piglet growth during lactation.

Ultrathin gate oxides (23-40 /spl Aring/) have been grown on nitrogen implanted Si substrates with doses ranging from 9/spl times/10/sup 12/ to 5/spl times/10/sup 14//cm/sup 2/ at 850/spl deg/C in dry O/sub 2/ ambient for 18 min 50 s. The controlled growth of ultrathin gate oxides is achieved by performing the post-implant RTA after the pad oxide removal.

The author considers a concatenated coding scheme for digital recording systems. This concatenated scheme uses an inner code to detect errors during the storage/retrieval process and to erase the corresponding errors. The Reed-Solomon code is used as an outer code to correct the errors (undetected errors) and the erasures (detected errors) generated by the inner code. Several error detecting codes are considered as the inner code, and the corresponding block error probabilities and average net information that can be stored and retrieved without error in a unit time are computed to make performance comparisons. >

We have recently reported an extended temperature regime of operation of the CuCl double-pulse laser, and have studied the effects of adding metallic Na or K to the laser plasma on the performance of the laser. These investigations have been extended by examining the laser performance when NaCl, KCl or CsCl was mixed with the CuCl. We found that small admixtures of NaCl not only increased the pulse energy but also held it constant over a temperature range 450°C–850°C, while CsCl addition caused a stable laser discharge to persist beyond 900°C. We also studied the effect of alkali chloride addition on the optimal delay time between the dissociating and pumping discharge pulses.

Calculation of the half-lives for absorption, distribution and elildnation showed wide variations between subjects, the half-life of elimination varying from 2.; h to more than n0 h. Bioavailability as mensured by the area under the serum ethynyloestradiol concentration-tiniec urve also showed more th.an a ten-fold variation. Intra-centre differences in the various parameters measured were as large as the inter-centre differerccs.

Ac loss due to coupling currents in a Rutherford cable can be controlled by increasing the interstrand contact resistance through adjusting the level of native oxidation of the strand, coating it, or by inserting a ribbon-like core into the cable itself. In an investigation of coupling loss, magnetic and calorimetric measurements were performed on: (i) a `reference pair' of bare and stabrite-coated uncored Rutherford cables; (ii) a series of stabrite-coated cables with cores of titanium, stainless steel, and kapton ribbon; and (iii) a series of bare-Cu cables with fixed overall thickness but with cores of successively increasing thickness. Measurements were made both with and without the release of uniaxial pressure between `curing' and measurement and, in the former case, after reapplication of in-cryostat (`cold') pressure. The total ac loss was measured as a function of the ramp rate of a magnetic field applied in either the face-on (FO, perpendicular to the cable's broad face) or edge-on (EO) orientations. From the coupling-current loss components, standard formulae enabled the interstrand contact resistances R⊥ (crossover) and R∥ (side-by-side) to be determined. These were combined, for the purpose of discussion, into an effective FO-measured contact resistance, R⊥,eff(R⊥,R∥). It was noted that under the pressure-release measurement condition: (i) although the inclusion of a core (of any of the three materials) generally brings about a strong suppression of the FO loss, its presence at fixed cable outer dimensions causes an increase in the EO loss presumably as a result of increased side-by-side contact; (ii) increases in the core thickness, again at fixed cable size, resulted in still further increases in the side-by-side contact, and concurrent small reductions in the existing large R⊥,eff(R⊥,R∥). Although previously reported results had confirmed that the insertion of a core into a stabrite cable removed the cold-pressure sensitivity of its R⊥,eff - a highly desirable outcome - it was noted that the cored-enhanced R⊥,effs were then much larger than the 20 or so µΩ called for by dipole magnet designers. With a view to correcting this problem a series of cables with reduced-width cores was proposed for future fabrication and measurement.

A teledermatological service system among Korea, China and Austria has been developed and tested in this research. For successful design and establishment of a teledermatological service system, four elements were considered - networking among hospitals and participants, standard specification for teledermatological consultation, database for medical record, and design and implementation of software. In addition to the fundamental stationary system, mobile teledermatological service function using PDA was added to provide dermatologists with ubiquitous consultation service. It was evaluated and proved to be a feasible for teleconsultation system by the dermatologists participated in this research.
