In accordance with the mandate of the Defense Industry Law, State-Owned Enterprises can act as Lead Integrator of the National Alutsista PT. PAL Indonesia (PT. PAL) is one of the state-owned enterprises (BUMN) engaged in the construction of the Indonesian Navy Warships. The problem in this research is how the development strategy of PT. PAL as a BUMN in an effort to fulfill the national defense equipment to improve national resilience. The purpose of this study is to identify several internal and external factors that influence decision making and then determine the priority of strategic criteria and develop a strategic plan for the development of PT. PAL to be implemented in order to increase national resilience by fulfilling the national defense equipment. The research method used is a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods with the integration of SWOT analysis. The results showed that PT. PAL's problem solving was carried out through efforts to improve the competence of Human Resources (HR) and production facilities in the form of facilities and infrastructure. Human Capital Building policies and programs must continue to be socialized and internalized to improve the skills of employees to suit the demands of the times. An assessment of PT. PAL has been carried out by the Ministry of BUMN in 2017 based on the KPKU as a measuring tool; the results obtained by PT. PAL include BUMN category/level band good performance with a score of 489.

As U.S. higher education institutions closed their campuses and transitioned to online education due to the high risk for COVID-19 transmission, first-generation college students (FGS) were particularly susceptible to multiple stressors. Findings from a sample of 44 participants reveal seven resilience triggers, four resilience processes, and three relationships between resilience processes and triggers. Based on these findings, we advance the communication theory of resilience by establishing the ways triggers can be structural, emergent, and overlapping and by theorizing resilience processes as both enduring and time-bound/contingent. We also employ a new qualitative method, thematic co-occurrence analysis, to illuminate the relationships between the resilience triggers and processes. Practical applications for higher education administrators, teaching instructors, and student support professionals are described.

This study aims to determine the effect of student resilience and self-regulated learning on student academic achievement in economics subjects. The research method used is an explanatory survey using a questionnaire as a data collection. The population in this study were students of class XI and XII of Social Science senior high school in Cianjur regency for the academic year 2021/2022 and a sample of 237 students was taken using simple random sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that resilience and self-regulated learning had an effect on students' academic achievement in economics subjects

Blockchain technology provides the information technology industry with better resilience and security. While it is still evolving, the technology is now supported by many entities, including cloud service providers. This paper elaborates Ethereum, a popular Blockchain 2.0 platform, and evaluates its performance on the cloud-based network. In this research, some Ethereum nodes (mainnet, Ropsten, and Rinkeby testnets) were set up on a cloud-based managed blockchain. The performance of its network, memory, and computing usage is then monitored.

Indigenous environmental disaster management systems are maintained in remotely located communities through intergenerational transmission. This fieldwork illuminates a wealth of unprecedented survival techniques, strategies and skills for offsetting the worst effects of a natural disaster in earthquake-prone areas of north-west Tanzania. Normally, responses from the government and its foreign development partners are hamstrung by bureaucratic red tape, taking too long in reaching disaster victims to be of any actual help. The formal mechanisms of global assistance constitute disaster management failure by design. Rather, it is the local experts who sustain human lives in the weeks and months before external aid comes to the rescue. Yet local communities’ contributions to their own survival remain invisible to central government and the global arena. Traditional means of forecasting environmental catastrophes and of providing essential assistance in the aftermath of natural disasters are reflections of cultural values, socio-economic sophistication and scientific expertise within communities whose resilience needs to be recognized, assisted and promoted. Educational curricula of the future, involving a new generation of academicians, should integrate this crucial indigenous knowledge into the nation’s mainstream disaster management framework.

Objective To assess the relationship between resilience and quality of life (QOL) of kidney cancer patients, including influencing factors. Methods Based on a cross-sectional study design, participants (N = 103) were recruited from patients who were admitted to the urology clinic of a medical center in Taiwan between April 2020 and January 2021. Data collection was accomplished via a questionnaire. The study variables included demographic information, disease attributes, happiness level, depression, cancer-related self-efficacy, resilience, and QOL. One-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficients, independent-sample t-tests, hierarchical regression, and process analysis were the statistical methods used to analyze the data. Results Kidney cancer patients who were less depressed exhibited better cancer-related self-efficacy and have better resilience. In non-depressed individuals, higher levels of happiness and better resilience resulted in better QOL. Resilience is a mediator that affects the relationship between depression and QOL. Conclusions Patients with better emotional state experience better resilience and QOL. Patients' better cancer-related self-efficacy is related to better resilience while better resilience is associated with better QOL. Clinical care providers need to evaluate and improve cancer-related self-efficacy, emotional state, and resilience of kidney cancer patients, which will improve their resilience and QOL.

Natural events such as hurricanes usually cause unimaginable destruction to the electric power system infrastructures across the globe leading to large‐scale power outages. While the transmission network offers relatively high resilience to the hurricane extreme wind speed intensity (HEWSI), the distribution power system network (DPSN) is always the worst hit. To enhance the DPSN against hurricane events, both the pre‐ and post‐event power system resilience enhancement techniques can be reviewed, and their limitations improved. Handling hurricane risks proactively for effective recovery plans requires rigorous techniques for locating and estimating the number of system component's damage causing outages on a DPSN. A review of the resilience evaluation methodologies utilized for a proactive statistical system component's failure predictive model is presented in this paper. As a contribution, this article presents the current practices, the problems, and points out the future research directions for a statistical system components’ line outage predictive model that can greatly enhance the DPSN against hurricane events for short‐term operational planning.

This article is focused on discussing the importance of strengthening emotional intelligence to achieve more integrated human domains. The discussion is in terms of challenges and resilience of emotional intelligence transformation on the psychological and behavioral impact of youth. Human capital resources among youths are the main thrusts of national development, especially from political, economic, social, and educational aspects. However, the role of youth as agents of change in society would be meaningless if it is a transformation from darkness to brightness, from positive to negative, and from peace to chaos. The important elements that need to be as a knowledgeable youth are not merely intellectual intelligence alone, but also need to have a strong emotional and spiritual intelligence to achieve the positive of emotional, thinking and behavior. Emotional intelligence can be a determining factor in behavior and ideology that is more mature and prosperous among the youth of the country. Therefore, the need to have emotional intelligence is as important as intellectual intelligence to achieve a real balance in life. Positive youth can stand up as a citizen who is full of identity and dare to cope with the competitive world, but also wisely handle whatever challenges. A strong emotional intelligence in the youth can also help transform the country's expectations into reality in the quest for the creation of a first-class human capital.

Memorable messages oftentimes are associated with hope, can foster anticipatory resilience prior to the experience of disruptive events, and can buffer the negative impact of adverse experiences on mental health. However, associations among memorable messages, engagement in resilience processes, and mental health have not been examined. Drawing from the communication theory of resilience (CTR), analyses of data from 262 Chinese adults suggested that memorable messages provided a sense of agency and pathways - two interrelated but distinct components of dispositional hope - and functioned as a form of anticipatory resilience that was positively associated with outcomes of coping with disruptive life events including mental health, posttraumatic growth, and meaning in life. These associations were mediated by the extent to which individuals engaged in change- and continuity-related resilience processes as outlined in CTR. Findings offer theoretical implications for memorable message and resilience research as well as practical implications for communicative strategies that can cultivate anticipatory resilience, promote positive adaptation, learning, and reflection, and mitigate the negative effects that disruptive events can have on mental health.

Growing social, political, and economic uncertainties have shown that organizational resilience is becoming increasingly important for nonprofit organizations (NPOs). To ensure their long-term survival, NPOs need to respond to extreme events and adapt their services and processes. The theoretical premise of resource dependence theory assumes that interactions between an organization and its environment are crucial for the long-term adaptation to adversities. The present study investigates the contributions of nonprofit–private collaborations to organizational resilience of NPOs in light of the refugee crisis in Germany in 2015. Findings from a multiple holistic case study design indicate that collaborations of nonprofits with for-profit organizations support NPOs with stability, resources, expertise, and compassion to overcome resource-based, conceptual, and emotional challenges.

Resilience and capacity for resilience is an emerging concept in health system governance and a comparatively new dimension of health systems performance, an area in which health policy faces problems and challenges not sufficiently explored. Although it has been attracting significant attention, the conceptualization of health system resilience that goes beyond the normative interpretation of the construct is still not well developed. The aim of the study is to review the concept of health system resilience and to extend the existing understanding in the context of health system governance. Drawing on the results of our review, we propose a framework for health system resilience. The review shows that resilience is grasped as a property in the context of the health system as a complex adaptive system. Moreover, resilience is contextual; it is highly context-dependent and path-dependant. It refers to the dynamics of the system and reflects the changing environment. Resilience is interpreted as the capacity of the health system to resist shocks and disturbances and to anticipate, withstand and respond to crises, i.e. to maintain its core functions, which is related to the abilities to absorb shocks and stresses, adapt to changes and transform its structures and institutions. Our proposed framework builds on and extends the existing knowledge and core frameworks, identifying three types of mechanisms (compensatory, adaptive and transformative) that help the system to maintain short- and long-term resilience. The framework can advance the understanding of the health system resilience and guide actions to strengthen health systems.

A Projection Pursuit Classification (PPC) model optimized by the Cat Swarm Optimization algorithm (CSO-PPC) was proposed to evaluate system resilience in the Hongxinglong Administration of Heilongjiang Province, China. The driving forces behind resilience were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). CSO-PPC was used to evaluate resilience for the 12 farms in the Hongxinglong Administration, and PCA was applied to select the key factors driving their resilience. Results showed that the key factors were per capita water, unit area grain yield, application of fertilizer per unit cultivated area and the proportion of cultivated land, which were closely related to human production and planting area. Overall water resources system resilience had improved by 2011 compared to 2005. Specifically, water resources system resilience grades for the 12 farms were divided into five levels from inferior to superior, i.e. I to V. After six years of development, the resilience of eight farms had improved. Farm Youyi and Farm 853 were upgraded from inferior level II to the best level V. However, according to the data, four farms still had low resilience that had not improved in recent years. Further results showed that the driving forces decreased from 1998 to 2003 and increased from 2003 to 2011.

Purpose: This study examines the effectiveness of social work services designed to enhance resilience among migrant children in urban China. Methods: We selected four primary schools (i.e., two public and two private migrant schools) in the X District, Guangzhou City, China. A total of 461 valid samples were surveyed for analysis. Three regression models were employed to explain the influence of social work services on students’ resilience. Results: Social work services exert a positive and significant influence on the resilience of migrant children. Concretely, social work services in terms of educational activities, interest activities, and psychological counseling affected the resilience of migrant children after controlling for the impact of social capital, self-efficacy, and individual and household economic status. Moreover, students who participated in educational activities exhibit superior resilience. Discussion: Social work organizations should provide more participation opportunities and diversified service items to migrant children.

The current study examined posttraumatic stress (PTS), resilience, and posttraumatic growth (PTG) among social workers (SWs) in Israel exposed to trauma both directly and indirectly through their work. Two groups of SWs were examined: SWs with high exposure to rocket attacks (n = 50) and SWs with low exposure to rocket attacks (n = 52). Measures included objective, subjective, and professional exposure; PTS; vicarious traumatization (VT); resilience; and PTG. Differences between the two groups were found regarding objective, subjective, and professional exposure, as well as PTS, VT, and PTG. No differences were found regarding resilience. PTS and PTG were positively associated. An interaction between group and resilience in predicting PTS and PTG was found. In the highly exposed group, resilience was negatively associated with PTS and positively with PTG, whereas for the low-exposed group resilience was not associated with PTS and was negatively associated with PTG. The discussion focuses on the need to understand the role of resilience and PTG in the psychological reaction of SWs to direct as well as indirect trauma; it also weighs the possibility that PTG serves as a salutogenic variable under high-trauma exposure but as an illusionary means of self-enhancement under low-level exposure.

Supply chain organizations should calmly and cautiously take the most accurate and sustainable decisions quickly and put them into practice. It is obvious that traditional time series-based demand and supply planning approaches are insufficient to meet current business needs due to factors such as sharp changes in market and commercial dynamics, pandemics, and natural disasters on the management of green supply chains, especially these days. In the near future, there will be a need for more resilient supply chains with a flexible business models that are not affected by sudden changes and that can make sustainable decisions dynamically. Additionally, all stakeholders must act with a green supply chain approach to conduct production and service activities in a way that causes the least damage to nature. Companies must build more resilient supply chains by considering environmental sensitivities to compete in the market and ensure their continuity. In this context, the green supply chains should be evaluated according to their resilience. For this purpose, Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model is extended with novel performance attributes to evaluate resilience of green supply chains in this study. The SCOR-embedded novel green supply chain resilience evaluation model is structured as a three-level performance attribute hierarchical structure. Then, the model is handled as a multi-criteria decision-making problem to determine importance of the performance attributes. Best Worst Method integrated Interval Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process is used to determine the importance of performance attributes. Most important performance attributes are determined in each level of hierarchy. According to results, organizational factors play a key role to build more resilient supply chains. Especially, integrated systems are required for supply chain resilience.

Exposure to childhood victimisation (i.e. abuse, neglect, domestic violence or bullying) can detrimentally impact later psychosocial adjustment. However, this is not the case for all victimised children; some do well despite their experiences and are considered to be resilient. Understanding the factors associated with such resilience is important to inform interventions to support better psychosocial outcomes among victimised children. This review provides an overview of the extant research examining resilience factors for psychosocial outcomes during the transition to adulthood following exposure to childhood victimisation. Studies were identified through a systematic literature search of Embase, PsychINFO and Ovid MEDLINE databases. The 26 included studies spanned a range of psychosocial outcomes between ages 18–25, including education and work, housing and independent living, criminal behaviour, victimisation, and social and psychological adjustment. For each outcome, a variety of putative resilience factors had been investigated including those related to the individual, their family and the wider community within which they lived. However, because few studies had comparable resilience factors and psychosocial outcomes, it is difficult to draw conclusions about which factors are consistently associated with resilience to a particular psychosocial outcome. Additionally, this review revealed that the included studies were of variable methodological quality – many were limited by cross-sectional designs with retrospective self-reports of childhood victimisation, and convenience or unrepresentative samples. In this review, we also highlight gaps in knowledge about the co-occurring impact of multiple resilience factors in combination and the need for studies conducted in non-Western and low- and middle-income countries.

PurposeThe purpose of this clinical focus article is to encourage speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to shift their operational framework as students grow from childhood to adulthood by focusing on three pillars of interaction: motivation, rapport, and resilience. We need to foster greater independence and interpersonal skills in older students, but researchers have not explained how to help SLPs successfully transition their intervention strategies. Here, we identify three pillars of adolescent therapy—motivation, rapport, and resilience—to help clinicians shift their perspective from childhood to adulthood. We rely on social constructivism to guide practice and argue that client-centered models of therapy are more appropriate than therapist-centered models for adolescent students. For each pillar, we discuss clinician behaviors, student results, and clinical implications.ConclusionsBy strengthening these three pillars of interaction, clinicians can shift their focus toward client-centered therapy models and facilitate skills students need in adulthood. Strengthening skills related to motivation, rapport, and resilience will help support more symmetrical and flexible clinical partnerships in adolescent students with communication disorders.

Community service in Karangtalun Hamlet is carried out by mentoring and increasing the potential of the Turtledove breeder "Sumber Rejo". The local Turtledovedove is believed to be a relic of the Mataram Palace. However, its potential has not been optimized. The availability of feed in the form of barley plants that grow wild has not been cultivated. Turtledovefish disease is difficult to control, the presence of bird droppings has not been used as fertilizer, the availability of water is very limited, and the existence of bitter plants has not been utilized. The method of implementing the activities is carried out through stages, namely, coordinating with the "Sumber Rejo" farmer and livestock group, Dusun Community Leaders, Wukirsari Village Head, Kapanewon Imogiri, Bantul Regional Government especially the Agriculture Service, Environment Service, Industry Service, followed by Focus Group Discussion (FGD), on methods of applying technology, starting from identifying needs, designing and manufacturing organic fertilizers, testing operations, operational assistance, and information technology. Community services that have been carried out are assisting "Sumber Rejo" breeders by providing GB1 profeed probiotic medicine for the immunity of Turtledove Turtledovedove, cultivating Jerwawut, and Sambiloto in parent houses, utilizing bird droppings as organic fertilizer and creating productive economic business embryos.

Invasive arthropods can cause negative impacts on human health, damage to agriculture crops, irreparable environmental impacts, and other economic losses. Although native arthropods can be pests, invasive arthropods can pose unique challenges for identification and management. Current tools to manage invasive arthropods often focus on immediate solutions, such as the application of synthetic chemical pesticides, which can result in off-target effects (e.g., harm to native organisms, depletion of soil health, and increased insecticide resistance). In this review, we discuss sustainable approaches such as using soil microbes and biopesticides that are safe for the environment and human health, build soil health, and can be proactive in rebuilding ecosystems with resilience against invasive arthropods. We also discuss the incorporation of up-to-date technological and molecular tools (e.g., the use of drones, CRISPRs, and molecular identification of organisms from environmental samples) that allow for the enhancement of identification and management efforts associated with traditional integrated pest management (IPM). Implementing these tools into current management practices can enhance and accelerate early detection and allow for tailored management practices of invasive arthropods. These tools are not exclusive to monitoring invasive arthropods and can be used to monitor native pests or organisms relevant for conservation. Although our focus is on the management of invasive arthropods that have been introduced into North America, the knowledge provided may also be applicable to the management of invasive arthropods worldwide.

PurposeThis paper makes a qualitative inquiry about how organisational resilience can be nurtured through knowledge management practices in parastatals to cope with environmental challenges. Twelve cases are covered to provide data that is interpretively analysed using direct quotes, causal-effect matrix and vignette.FindingsThere are various phenomenological knowledge management practices like knowledge acquisition, knowledge sharing, knowledge creation, knowledge storage and retrieval that are undertaken to cope with certain organisational challenges which this study identified. Organisational resilience mechanisms are reported.Research limitations/implicationsThis study is limited by a convenient sample and interview subjectivity as well as a small part of the public sector that was studied.Practical implicationsOrganisations should design an appropriate knowledge management system to acquire, create, share, store and retrieve knowledge as a critical resource for building organisational resilience mechanisms.Originality/valueThis study makes a contribution to the body of knowledge about how phenomenologically public organisations develop resilience mechanisms through knowledge management practices.

This paper uses game theory to examine the efforts of public sector actors in the UK to integrate climate change interventions within development processes. Drawing on desk-based analysis and interviews, we identify instances where private-sector developers act strategically to exploit public-sector imperatives to deliver economic growth and housing. We find these imperatives constrained the agency of planners to effectively reconcile climate mitigation/adaptation objectives within wider priorities of economic growth. Yet, we identify instances whereby strategic planning frameworks, informal networks and bespoke development frameworks were effective means to build trust between actors and foster co-operation, better enabling development which meets climate change mitigation/adaptation objectives. In doing so, we illustrate the practical and theoretical value of game theory, whilst highlighting how careful use of strategic planning can support achieving climate change mitigation/adaptation objectives at a local scale.

Food systems must serve different societal, public health and individual nutrition, and environmental objectives and therefore face numerous challenges. Considering the integrated performances of food systems, this paper highlights five fundamental paradigm shifts that are required to overcome trade-offs and build synergies between health and nutrition, inclusive livelihoods, environmental sustainability and food system resilience. We focus on the challenges to raise policy ambitions, to harmonize production and consumption goals, to improve connectivity between them, to strengthen food system performance and to anchor the governance of food systems in inclusive policies and participatory institutions. Taken together, these shifts in paradigms shape a new discourse for food system transformation that will be capable to respond to current and future policy challenges.

Adolescents with burn injury are vulnerable to psychosocial dysfunction because of the complex nature of their neurobiological, cognitive, and interpersonal changes that occur during this developmental stage. Physical differences in appearance also make these adolescents prone to peer bullying and at further risk for social functioning challenges. These social functioning challenges may involve underlying difficulties with cognitive functions needed to support adaptive social functioning and can present as social isolation, inappropriate social behaviors, or social anxiety. Promoting social participation is a recognized intervention to support positive mental health and is necessary for identity formation during transition into adulthood. This guideline describes assessment and intervention for adolescents with burn injury to improve adaptive capacities and facilitate social participation. Assessment of social-cognitive skills, resilience, and behavioral indicators of adaptive social functioning are discussed. A cognitive-approach to intervention is also described. The goal of this guideline is to enable occupational therapists to provide psychosocial assessment and intervention to adolescents with burn injury. We hope that this guideline is an impetus for evidence-based practice on the role occupational therapists can contribute to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and provide more comprehensive patient care for this population.

The theory of dynamic resource orchestration explains the differentiated response of homogeneous ecosystem organizations to systemic disruptive shocks. The Covid-19 precautionary measures in Kenya have exempted some essential service providers and government agencies, resulting in a differentiated Covid-19 impact across the national SMEs landscape. This article adopted an extractive thematic analysis technique to draw insights from in-depth interviews and discussions with owners and managers of 6 broad-range SMEs considered non-essential services providers excluded from the Covid-19 cessation of movement waiver. The article advanced insights on SMEs' resilience through dynamic resource orchestration capability. It sought to establish whether the possession and orchestration of dynamic resources capabilities differentiated highly resilient SMEs from non-resilient ones. The article identified business diversification, slack finance, intra-stakeholder collaboration, self-reinvention, positive psychology, technology leverage, and cost management as precursory resilience agents within Kenyan SMEs. Research gaps were identified, and recommendations for future research were proposed.

Purpose For many innovative organisations, Industry 4.0 paves the way for significant operational efficiencies, quality of goods and services and cost reductions. One of the ways to realise these benefits is to embark on digital transformation initiatives that may be summed up as the intelligent interconnectivity of people, processes, data and cyber-connected things. Sadly, this interconnectivity between the enterprise information technology (IT) and industrial control systems (ICS) environment introduces new attack surfaces for critical infrastructure (CI) operators. As a result of the ICS cybersecurity risk introduced by the interconnectivity between the enterprise IT and ICS networks, the purpose of this study is to identify the cybersecurity capabilities that CI operators must have to attain good cybersecurity resilience. Design/methodology/approach A scoping literature review of best practice international CI protection frameworks, standards and guidelines were conducted. Similar cybersecurity practices from these frameworks, standards and guidelines were grouped together under a corresponding National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity framework (CF) practice. Practices that could not be categorised under any of the existing NIST CF practices were considered new insights, and therefore, additions. Findings A CI cybersecurity capability framework comprising 29 capability domains (cybersecurity focus areas) was developed as an adaptation of the NIST CF with an added dimension. This added dimension emphasises cloud computing and internet of things (IoT) security. Each of the 29 cybersecurity capability domains is executed through various capabilities (cybersecurity processes and procedures). The study found that each cybersecurity capability can further be operationalised by a set of cybersecurity controls derived from various frameworks, standards and guidelines, such as COBIT®, CIS®, ISA/IEC 62443, ISO/IEC 27002 and NIST Special Publication 800-53. Practical implications CI sectors are immediately able to adopt the CI cybersecurity capability framework to evaluate their levels of resilience against cyber-attacks, given new attack surfaces introduced by the interconnectivity of cyber-connected things between the enterprise and ICS levels. Originality/value The authors present an added dimension to the NIST framework for CI cyber protection. In addition to emphasising cryptography, IoT and cloud computing security aspects, this added dimension highlights the need for an integrated approach to CI cybersecurity resilience instead of a piecemeal approach.

Background Pandemics can generate considerable distress, which can affect prevention behaviors. Resilience may buffer the negative effects of distress on engagement in relevant prevention behaviors, which may also hold true for COVID-19 prevention behaviors. The objective of the current study was to evaluate whether resilience moderated the relationship between distress and COVID-19 prevention behaviors early in the pandemic. Methods Data were collected via surveys in which all students at a large midwestern university were emailed invitations beginning March 18, 2020. Surveys were completed by 5,530 individuals. In addition to demographic questions and items about COVID-19 prevention behaviors, distress was assessed using the K6 Distress Scale and resilience using the Brief Resilience Scale. Data were analyzed using moderator regression analysis. Results Resilience moderates the effects from distress to prevention behaviors, such that the relationship was stronger for individuals with higher resilience than for individuals with lower resilience. When resilience was one standard deviation below the mean, at the mean value of resilience, and when resilience was one standard deviation above the mean, there was a significant positive relationship between distress and COVID-19 prevention behaviors. However, the relationship was strongest for those with high resilience, and lowest for those with low resilience. Conclusions In the current sample, resilience appeared to influence the strength of the relationship between distress and COVID-19 prevention behaviors. Having higher resilience may promote positive adaptation to distress, leading individuals to engage in a greater number of disease-related prevention behaviors. Future research should examine this relationship longitudinally and in relation to differing constructs of resilience.
