Dicamba is a herbicide with a moderate volatility profile. Such volatility behavior can be significantly diminished with formulation technology and volatilization reducers. The objective of this study was to quantify the volatility potential of dicamba diglycolamine salt (DGA) in a standalone application or in tank mixture with glyphosate (potassium salt) (GK), with and without volatilization reducer (acetic acid&mdash, VaporGrip®, ) from different surfaces. The combination of these products was applied on four different surfaces (glass slides, corn straw, and dry and moist sandy soil) with three replications, and the experiment was duplicated. The application was performed indoors with an automated sprayer. After application, targets were positioned in cartridges containing two filters in series. Cartridges were placed in a vapor collection system that consisted of a chromatographic oven with constant temperature of 40 °, C attached to a vacuum pump for 24 h. After this period, liquid samples were obtained from an extraction procedure of filters and surfaces, which corresponded to the volatilized and deposited portions of the herbicides, respectively. The samples were analyzed by liquid chromatography&ndash, tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The use of this method provided a rapid and consistent evaluation, in which the treated surface exerts a direct influence on the amount of volatilized dicamba. The mixture of dicamba and glyphosate solutions exhibited different volatility profiles as a function of the treated surfaces. The DGA applied alone had the largest level of volatility when applied on moist soil and the lowest level of volatility in dry soil and straw. The DGA with GK had volatilities similar in dry soil, wet soil and straw. The volatility reducer in the tank mixture was effective in reducing DGA dicamba volatilization, regardless of the sprayed surface and the tank mixture, making the application of dicamba safer from the volatilization standpoint.

The combination of cationic surfactants with some aromatic anions can result in the formation of long aggregates, named as wormlike micelles. Like polymers, they can be used as viscosity controllers. The stabilization of the aromatic anions inserted into the micelles and their position at the surface is central to change the curvature of the aggregates and its consequent growth. Therefore, the affinity between these two components defines the potential to wormlike micelle formation and the understand of the molecular aspects that driven the process is central. In this sense, in this work it was investigated the effect of the presence of F, Cl Br or I at the position 4 of the aromatic ring of halogenbenzoates on the incorporation of the anions into the micelles of C14TAB. By using the isothermal titration calorimetry, the spontaneity of the process was determined by measuring the magnitude of the energy released and the critical concentration for wormlike micelle formation. Wormlike micelles are only formed for Cl, Br and I, and the formation is more pronounced for halogen atom more voluminous. It can be expected that the fitting into the water structure of the anion with a more voluminous halogen is more difficult. Therefore, the hydrophobic effect is an important driven force to the partitioning of the aromatic anion from water to the micellar pseudo-phase. The processes of formation, growth and shortening of the wormlike micelle chains were determined by measuring the hydrodynamic radius of the aggregates and correlated with the enthalpimetric curves. In high concentration regime, the micelles are entangled and the characteristics of the supramolecular gel-like formed were investigated by using linear and non-linear rheology.

Under turbulent flow, wormlike micelles efficiently cause hydrodynamic drag reduction. However, it was demonstrated that beyond specific temperatures, the capacity of the micellar aggregates to produce drag reduction is abruptly lost. This can be associated with the decrease in size of long micellar chains, becoming shorter aggregates, in the sense that small aggregates are not capable to cause hydrodynamic drag reduction anymore. In this paper, we investigate the thermal effect on wormlike micelles under turbulent and quiescent regimes, in order to explore correlations between the size of the wormlike micelles and the hydrodynamic drag reduction phenomenon.

The comparison between the enthalpimetric curves with the ones for viscosity of the solutions, hydrodynamic radii of the aggregates (dynamic light scattering experiments), and the fraction of aromatic anions incorporated (diffusion-ordered spectroscopy experiments) allows the establishment of the variations of enthalpy with formation, growth, and decrease of the wormlike micelles (WLMs). The formation of WLMs with C14TAB is very favored (very exothermic) for titrations of chlorobenzoate derivatives which present the chlorine atom in positions 3 or 4 of the aromatic ring. However, the aggregation is highly unfavorable if chlorine is at position 2 of chlorobenzoate. According to the results, the high potential of the ITC to determine critical concentrations and the energies associated with the aggregation of a cationic surfactant and aromatic anions for the formation of WLMs was demonstrated FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO - FAPESP CONSELHO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMENTO CIENTÍFICO E TECNOLÓGICO - CNPQ Fechado

We also want to thank the lab technician of the Colloids and Interfaces Group of UNICAMP, Victor Augusto Licio Garcia Vilela, for helping to perform experiments Abstract: When tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide, TTAB, is added to aqueous solution of sodium salicylate, NaSal, the threading of the aromatic anion into the micellar palisade leads to the formation of wormlike micelles. Based on the calorimetric titration of NaSal with TTAB, and on the lifetime of fluorescence of salicylate, we propose that the aggregation of the two components directly leads to the formation of wormlike micelles, without any pre-aggregation. By using an isothermal titration calorimeter, aliquots of TTAB were added to a dilute solution of NaSal. The energy involved in each addition was then integrated and the variation of enthalpy was determined. In the same range of concentrations and molar ratios, the surface tensiometry and time-resolved emission spectroscopy experiments were performed. A very characteristic calorimetric signal associated with wormlike micelle formation was obtained, being the enthalpy variation of this process, deltaWLMH0_298 < 0. When 1.2 mmol L-1 of NaSal is titrated with 11.0 mmol L-1 of TTAB at 298.15 K, delta fH0_298 = -10.31 kJ per mol of injectant. By adding TTAB to NaSal solution, two fluorescence lifetimes of salicylate were observed solely after wormlike micelle being formed. The correspondent lifetime values of 4.0 ns and 7.2 ns are respectively associated with the free and associated species of salicylate. The new results demonstrated that wormlike micelles are the first aggregate formed when TTAB is added to salicylate. This aspect is relevant for understanding the mechanism of wormlike micelles formation FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO - FAPESP COORDENAÇÃO DE APERFEIÇOAMENTO DE PESSOAL DE NÍVEL SUPERIOR - CAPES CONSELHO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMENTO CIENTÍFICO E TECNOLÓGICO - CNPQ Fechado

Brazilian construction companies have sought lean thinking to increase competitiveness in the sector. The initial step for lean implementation is to stabilize the project production system. Many lean tools have been applied to stabilize production, however daily managemet is a lean practice that has been implemented in manufacturing and has little application in the construction. This paper aims to explore daily management in the construction context and evaluate the results of its implementation. Action research was the research method adopted. The research lasted three months and was conducted in three stages: the first for preparation, the second for the implementation cycles and the final for analysis and conclusions. The application evaluated the four fundamental elements of daily management: visual management, teamwork problem solving, help chain, and leadership. Daily management implementation facilitated decision-making and problems were solved more often and in a more structured way with the help chain. Visual boards helped the managers to see the production and productivity deviations. Meeting routines provided a more present leadership in the field and a spirit of team collaboration. The main results of the research were the reduction of project costs, project completion on time and increased project team commitment COORDENAÇÃO DE APERFEIÇOAMENTO DE PESSOAL DE NÍVEL SUPERIOR - CAPES Fechado

- Abstract
The economic development of Brazil depends upon the increasing agricultural production associated with conservation practices. The no-tillage system is the soil management practice that brings together the broadest set of principles for conservation agriculture. Areas under no-till system, however, generally have two completely different soils layers: a surface layer, around 0 to 7 cm, with physical and chemical conditions favorable for root development; and a sub-surface layer, around 7 to 20 cm, with lower permeability to air and water, high soil penetration resistance, and low soil fertility. The existence of these stratified layers dramatically restricts the development of the root system into the sub-surface soil layer, which may result in reducing plant productivity by water deficit. This problem exists on more than 30 million hectares cultivated under no-tillage system in Brazil, and can compromise the optimistic projections of agricultural growth in the country. Therefore, more research is necessary to explore challenges that come with no-tillage. The aim of this thesis was to study the factors that can promote the physical and chemical stratification of highly weathered soils cultivated under no-till system. Among the factors that could cause this degradation, the following were studied: i) the application of excessive lime only on surface soil, or into the uppermost soil layer, which can increase its pH to levels beyond of the zero point of charge of soil, raising its electronegative potential and promoting, as a consequence, the clay dispersion; ii) the dispersed clay migration thtough the soil profile, by the percolation water, as a factor of physical degradation of sub-surface of soil cultiveted under no-tillage; and iii) the aplication of phytomass to the soil in insufficient amount and quality to maintain the soil structural stability of the soil. The results of this study showed that lime movement into the deeper soil profile, is very slow, as its impacts are limited to just a few centimeters below of where it is applied or incorporated (2.5 cm after 130 weeks), independent of the applied amount of lime. Thus, the surface lime application intensifies the chemical stratification of the clayey soils under no-tillage, increasing to much the soil pH of the uppermost soil layer, and being inefficient to decrease the soil acidity in the subsurface soil layer. The concentration of lime into the uppermost soil layer can significantly increase the electronegativity of the soil system and result in clay dispersion in the topsoil layer (0 to 5 cm). The resulting clay migration into the soil profile led to a series of structural alterations in subsurface layers, including: decrease of both soil porosity and pore continuity; and increase of both soil bulk density and soil penetration resistance in the sub-superficial layer. The structural stability decreasing of Oxisols under no-till system also is linked with the low addition of organic matter to the cultivated soil, in relation to the non-cultivated soils. The kaolinitic Oxisols are more susceptible to degradation than the gibbsitic Oxisols. Thus, it could be conclude that liming practices (rate and application methods of lime), mainly under no-till systems, need to consider both type and mineralogy of soil, as well as considering soil structure degradation promoted by over-liming in the uppermost soil layer.

Although artificial mechanical pruning has been used for this crop, the use of herbicides for pruning can be more practical, rapid and have lower costs. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the use of glufosinate ammonium in the chemical pruning of eucalyptus plants. Eucalyptus seedlings were transplanted into 10-L pots filled with soil and substrate and subjected to the treatments (mechanical pruning, chemical pruning, and no pruning) 90 days after transplanting. Lateral branches were cut with pruning shears for the mechanical pruning. Glufosinate ammonium (500 g a.i. ha(-1)) was applied to the sides of the plants for the chemical pruning, simulating a fieldplanting row (3.5 x 2.0 meters), using a CO2-pressurized sprayer; the untreated branches were covered with plastic bags to avoid receiving the herbicide. The percentage of artificial pruning used was 60% of the vertical height of the eucalyptus plants. Glufosinate, glutamate, and ammonia contents, electron transport rate, percentage of pruning, plant height, number of leaves, and dry matter mass of the plants were evaluated. The application of glufosinate ammonium defoliate the treated branches and did not affect significantly the parts of the plants that did not receive the herbicide regarding the evaluated compounds, and growth of the plants, denoting that glufosinate ammonium can be used for chemical pruning of eucalyptus plants. Background Acquired brain injury (ABI) is damage to the brain that occurs after birth caused either by a traumatic or by a nontraumatic injury. The rehabilitation process following ABI should be performed by a multi-professional team, working in an interdisciplinary way, with the aim of organizing a comprehensive and holistic approach to persons with every severity of ABI. This Evidence Based Position Paper represents the official position of the European Union through the UEMS Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) Section and designates the professional role of PRM physicians for people with ABI. The aim was to formulate recommendations on the PRM physician's professional practice for persons with ABI in order to promote their functioning and enhance quality of life. Methods This paper has been developed according to the methodology defined by the Professional Practice Committee of the UEMS-PRM Section: a systematic literature search has been performed in PubMed and Core Clinical Journals. On the basis of the selected papers, recommendations have been made as a result of five Delphi rounds. Results The literature review as well as thirty-one recommendations are presented. Conclusions The expert consensus is that structured, comprehensive and holistic rehabilitation program delivered by the multi-professional team, working in an interdisciplinary way, with the leadership and coordination of the PRM physician, is likely to be effective, especially for those with severe disability after brain injury.

Background Coalescent methods that use multi-locus sequence data are powerful tools for identifying putatively reproductively isolated lineages, though this approach has rarely been used for the study of microbial groups that are likely to harbor many unrecognized species. Among microbial symbionts, integrating genetic species delimitation methods with trait data that could indicate reproductive isolation, such as host specificity data, has rarely been used despite its potential to inform species limits. Here we test the ability of an integrative approach combining genetic and host specificity data to delimit species within the avian malaria parasite genus Leucocytozoon in central Alaska. Results We sequenced seven nuclear loci for 69 Leucocytozoon samples and used multiple species delimitation methods (GMYC and BPP models), tested for differences in host infection patterns among putative species based on 406 individual infections, and characterized parasite morphology. We found that cryptic morphology has masked a highly diverse Leucocytozoon assemblage, with most species delimitation methods recovering support for at least 21 separate species that occur sympatrically and have divergent host infection patterns. Reproductive isolation among putative species appears to have evolved despite low mtDNA divergence, and in one instance two Leucocytozoon cytb haplotypes that differed by a single base pair (~ 0.2% divergence) were supported as separate species. However, there was no consistent association between mtDNA divergence and species limits. Among cytb haplotypes that differed by one to three base pairs we observed idiosyncratic patterns of nuclear and ecological divergence, with cytb haplotype pairs found to be either conspecific, reproductively isolated with no divergence in host specificity, or reproductively isolated with divergent patterns of host specialization. Conclusion Integrating multi-locus genetic species delimitation methods and non-traditional ecological data types such as host specificity provide a novel view of the diversity of avian malaria parasites that has been missed previously using morphology and mtDNA barcodes. Species delimitation methods show that Leucocytozoon is highly species-rich in Alaska, and the genus is likely to harbor extraordinary species-level diversity worldwide. Integrating genetic and ecological data will be an important approach for understanding the diversity and evolutionary history of microbial symbionts moving forward. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) This work aimed the synthesis, characterization and electrochemical tests of Pt and Pt-Sb nanoparticle catalysts onto mesoporous carbon applied to glycerol electrooxidation reaction. Specifically, the carbon matrixes were synthetized from Si templates with distinct geometries, giving CMK-3 and CMK-5 3D structures. These structures were treated in O2-free atmospheres at 1173 K for 5 h and after the removal of Si with HF solution (as confirmed by thermogravimetric analysis), the mesoporous structures were attested by Small Angle X-Ray diffraction and a 4.8 and 5.3 nm porous diameters were estimated by nitrogen adsorption isotherms to the CMK-3 and CMK-5 structures, respectively. Pt nanoparticles synthesis onto carbon structures (Pt/C) were performed by direct reduction of chloroplatinic acid (H2PtCl6) with formic acid giving particles with 4.5 nm mean diameters as reveled by transmission electron microscopy. Finally, Pt-Sb/C catalysts were produced by irreversible Sb2O3 adsorption. Pt/C catalysts showed voltammetric profiles consistent with metallic Pt in 0.5 mol L-1 H2SO4 solutions, certifying the synthesis success. In the presence of glycerol, it was observed that the activity to the oxidation happens at potential higher than 0.8 V regardless the carbon support; on the other hand, Pt-Sb/C shifted the reaction onset in ca -0.3 V and maintained this activity under fixed potential (0.5 V). Pt-Sb/CMK-3 depicted the best activity among the synthetized catalysts, providing currents 1.6 and 2.0 times bigger than those in Pt-Sb/CMK-5 and Pt-Sb/Vulcan, respectively.

BIOMETRIC AND MORPHOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE FRUITS AND SEEDS OF SCHINOPSIS BRASILIENSIS ABSTRACT:The objective of this work was to evaluate the biometry and morphology of S. brasiliensis, aiming to identify traits that help in the use and propagation of this Caatinga species in an environmental restoration program. Biometric data were obtained from 1000 fruits and 1000 seeds. The length, width, thickness and mass of fruits and seeds were measured. Data were adjusted using descriptive statistics and Shapiro-Wilk test. For the fruits morphological description, observations on the external and internal traits of the pericarp, peel consistency, coloration, brightness, shape and dehiscence were reported. Already the external morphological descriptions of the seeds were made on consistency, color, texture, shape and thread. The biometric characterization of fruits and seeds of S. brasiliensis made it possible to verify the variation between the biometric classes through frequency histogram. The fruits presented complete morphology, in the form of a samara, indiscriminate and monospermic. The seeds were characterized in oblong and reniform, surrounded by the endocarp, resulting in the pyrenium, which is the layer that hinders the process of water imbibition, which precedes the germination, however this layer is able to promote greater longevity of the seeds. Keywords: biometric analyzes, morphological traits, forest seeds, Caatinga. Termites have peculiar activities in the soil, inducing significant changes in the soil properties. The objective of this study was to assess physical and chemical properties and soil organic matter to evaluate the effect of termite activity and termite mounds on the soil. Two toposequences were selected and divided in slope thirds (shoulder, backslope, and footslope). In each of these, four termite mounds were selected. Samples were taken from the soils and termite mounds (top, center, and base) along with a variety of termites for identification. Analyses were carried out for physical, soil texture, and chemical properties, as well as for particle size and chemical fractioning of organic matter. The species Cornitermes cumulans was found in all mounds. Soil with termite mound presented higher clay content, acidity, and Al3+ content. Phosphorus contents differed considerably between mound material and soil. Sum of bases and cation exchange capacity of the soil were higher in mounds, and differed within the mounds, according to the sampling height. Total organic carbon and particulate carbon content were highest at the mound base. A marked disparity was observed between the contents of humic substances in the mounds and surrounding soil, with humin fraction differences in distinct topographic position. The high nutrient contents detected in the termite mounds confirm the importance of termites in concentrating nutrients.

In agreement with the vision of world of Schopenhauer, the human being is characterized by being dominated by an essential lack, motivated by the eternal dissatisfaction of their desires and inclinations. That situation motivates in the human personality the displeasure for the existence, the development of terrible and violent feelings, shortly appeased when the man gets to supply that existential lack, the ones which, after a happy spirit peace, they surface again in the human life with maxim intensity. Schopenhauer elaborates his referred theory of the aesthetic contemplation, considering that the individual that is devoted to the artistic creation and to the act of to philosophize becomes indeed capable to appease for precious moments the desire of his unhappiness. Such perspective influences Freud when this develops the theory of the sublimation, and this is characterized by overcoming in some steps Schopenhauer's perspective, for the fact that Freud considers that not just in the art, but in any other activity, of intellectual character or even of labor, the human being would channel their voluptuous sexual pulses (that would be one in Schopenhauer's theory more of the expressions of the desire imposed by the human will) through the accomplishment of enterprises transforming that vital energy disperses through the sexual action in a concrete productive impulse.

Conclusion.

In this work, we evaluated the drag reduction ability of wormlike micelles formed by TTAB and sodium salicylate or 3,4-dichlorebenzoate. The study was carried using a rheometer, used as a torquimeter operating in high rotational speed, so that turbulent flow was maintained. So, it was measured the torque required to maintain a specific rotation as constant, while increasing the temperature linearly. It was determined the critical temperature for each system, being this temperature in which the drag reducers agents lose their ability to produce such effect. It is considered that the wormlike micelles suffer an intense fragmentation. It was studied the influence of the rotation in this kind of experiment. It was observed that the efficiency to reduce the drag decreases at lower rotational speed. We observed different profiles for the curves of torque as function of temperature, even for experiments carried at the very same way with the same stock solution. Perhaps, it suggests structural variations of the wormlike micelles, since the critical temperature was systematically dependent of the profile. Besides, trying to separate the mechanical effects of the thermal effects, it was investigated the importance of a previous shearing. Finally, we studied the role of the initial temperature, and consequentially the role of the size of the aggregate for the hydrodynamic drag reduction experiments. The system was also investigated by calorimetric experiments, lifetime of fluorescence and dynamic light scattering, being all those techniques done on the quiescent state. In this regime, it was not possible to observe any sudden thermal transition as it was noticed under turbulent flow, characterized by the critical temperature. The results obtained by the DLS technique agrees with the model that describes a decrease in the wormlike micelles as function of the temperature. Also, the DLS results agree with the other results based on the quiescent state. In this work, we investigated comparing the results of both regimes, the role of the turbulent flow on the structural variations of the wormlike micelles Mestrado Físico-Química Mestre em Química CNPQ 134661/2015-0 PETROBRAS

In the context of the White Book of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) in Europe, this paper deals with the core concepts at the base of the PRM specialty. These are the essential constituents that make PRM a primary medical specialty, different from all the other medical specialties, and PRM physician the primary medical specialist among the rehabilitation professionals. The core concepts that will be discussed in this Section include: - PRM is a person/functioning oriented specialty, and this makes the specialty different from the organ/disease oriented, or treatment/age specific medical specialties. - PRM physicians have medical responsibilities, like all the other medical specialists, but with an additional specificity of making a functional assessment. - Like the other specialists, PRM physicians provide direct treatments, but they also work leading the multi-professional rehabilitation team, that works in a collaborative way with other professionals and medical specialists. - Due to its function oriented approach, PRM has a multimodal approach including a wide variety of treatment tools (frequently provided by other rehabilitation professionals) and manages all persons’ morbidities (health conditions), since it focuses on decreasing impairments and activity limitations to allow the best possible participation of patients. - As PRM bases its work on functioning, it has a transversal role to other specialties: it overlaps with several of them, sharing part of their knowledge, but it is also totally independent from all of them, since it is based on a different and transversal body of knowledge. - PRM is focused on the person and neither on the disease nor on the setting ; in fact, PRM is not only transversal to specialties, but also to the settings of care, and PRM physicians should know these different realities: persons with disabilities and those with long-term health conditions in fact move inside the national health systems between various facilities to obtain the best possible functioning and participation through an appropriate rehabilitation process.

Palavras-Chave: Opiniao Publica; Violencia; Multidao.ABSTRACTThe article aims to analyze the traditionally encrusted conservative discourses in Brazilian public opinion about the repressive actions of the police against not only the called marginality, but any movement of resistance to the arbitrary character of the State oblivious to the actually popular interests, showing that this position is created from the internalization of oppression in the society’s very subjectivity, turning this State’s official violence into something common. The article also brings as an agenda for discussion the importance of popular mobilization as a political mechanism of effective resistance to the authoritarianism of the State as a progressive process of awareness of the people about its potential citizenship. Keywords: Public Opinion; Violence; Crowd

The objective of this work was to determine the measurement accuracy of the soil water matric potential (ψm) by puncture tensiometers with either rounded or pointed porous cups, installed with or without “soil mud”, and to compare the performance of these tensiometers with that of tensiometers equipped with mercury manometers. The experiment was conducted in a Ultisol, in a randomized complete block design, in a factorial arrangement with five replicates. Puncture tensiometers with rounded porous cups, installed with “soil mud”, present more elevated accuracy for ψm determination in a wider measurement range, resembling tensiometers equipped with mercury manometers in drying soil.
