Abstract

In this paper, we use new concepts of subcompatibility and subsequential continuity contained in (Bouhadjera, Godet-Thobie, Common fixed theorems for pairs of subcompatible maps, 17 June 2009. [math.FA]) to prove common fixed point theorems for a pair of maps in metric as well as convex metric spaces which are essentially patterned after a theorem of Huang and Li (Fixed point theorems of compatible mappings in convex metric spaces, Soochow J. Math. 22(3) (1996), 439-447). We also prove some related fixed point theorems and utilize certain such results to prove theorems on best approximation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The principal goal of this work is to investigate new sufficient conditions for the existence and convergence of positive definite solutions to certain classes of matrix equations. Under specific assumptions, the basic tool in our study is a monotone mapping, which admits a unique fixed point in the setting of a partially ordered Banach space. To estimate solutions to these matrix equations, we use the Krasnosel'skiĭ iterative technique. We also discuss some useful examples to illustrate our results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

214. Positive solutions of fractional integral equations by the technique of measure of noncompactness.

Abstract

In the present study, we work on the problem of the existence of positive solutions of fractional integral equations by means of measures of noncompactness in association with Darbo's fixed point theorem. To achieve the goal, we first establish new fixed point theorems using a new contractive condition of the measure of noncompactness in Banach spaces. By doing this we generalize Darbo's fixed point theorem along with some recent results of (Aghajani et al. (J. Comput. Appl. Math. 260:67-77, 2014)), (Aghajani et al. (Bull. Belg. Math. Soc. Simon Stevin 20(2):345-358, 2013)), (Arab (Mediterr. J. Math. 13(2):759-773, 2016)), (Banaś et al. (Dyn. Syst. Appl. 18:251-264, 2009)), and (Samadi et al. (Abstr. Appl. Anal. 2014:852324, 2014)). We also derive corresponding coupled fixed point results. Finally, we give an illustrative example to verify the effectiveness and applicability of our results.
