Precision observables are well known for constraining most of the Beyond Standard Model (BSM) scenarios tightly. We present here a simple and comprehensive fitting framework for various BSM scenarios to these observables. We start with the fit of $S$, $T$ and $V$ parameter and their correlations using the Electroweak Precision Observables (EWPO) including the recent $m_W$ measurement from CDF-II. Utilizing these observables, we also fit various New Physics (NP) scenarios consisting of different subsets of dimension-6 Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) operators in the Warsaw basis out of a total of 10 appearing at tree level in EWPO. To further constrain these scenarios, we augment these observables with $\Delta_{CKM}$ measurement using 1-loop matching of the Low Energy Effective Field Theory (LEFT) to SMEFT operators at the Z-pole. We show that the inclusion of $\Delta_{CKM}$ constraint indeed results in stronger bounds on the SMEFT Wilson Coefficients. We also constrain the UV parameters of BSM extensions like Vectorlike leptons (VLL) and find out that such a minimal extension is in tension with the forward-backward asymmetry in $b$-sector ($A_b^{FB}$) and the recent measurement of $M_W$. In order to lift the two blind directions, which one encounters while fitting all the 10 SMEFT WCs at tree-level, we also include the LEP-II observables pertaining to the $WW$ production and present the results for the fits with and without $\Delta_{CKM}$ constraint., Comment: 31 pages, 6 figures, 19 tables

The little Randall-Sundrum (little RS) model receives significantly stronger constraints from the flavor observables in comparison to the Randall-Sundrum (RS) model. In this paper, we analyze the effect of the electroweak sector in little RS on flavor-changing decays of charged leptons. We compare the predictions of the model with the current limits on the flavor-violating branching ratios of μ→eee, τ→eee, τ→μμμ, τ→μee, τ→eμμ, μ→eγ, and μTi→eTi, and we show that the dominant constraint arises from the μTi→eTi process which strongly limits the KK-1 gauge boson mass (MKK) to be ≳30.7 TeV. We then derive and show that generalizing the electroweak gauge sector to include the brane localized kinetic term relaxes this constraint to ≳12 TeV. Toward the conclusion, we comment on the possibility that the large flavor-violating currents can be mitigated by relaxing the assumption regarding the unnatural thinness and rigidity of the UV brane and discuss the possibility of suppression of these currents in the presence of fat fluctuating branes.

International audience; Fluorine plays a significant role in the geochemical world, despite its low abundance. The presence of fluorine and fluorinated moieties in chemical compounds results in significant changes in their physicochemical and biological properties. Therefore, the study of the origin and abundance of fluorine not only here on Earth but in any region outside of Earth- in other planets, stars and star-forming galaxies, circumstellar, interstellar media (ISM), and the protoplanetary regions, is vital and can contribute significantly to our knowledge on its relevance to its terrestrial origin, abundance, and its chemistry. With an introduction on the formation, presence, and significance of fluorine and its compounds under terrestrial context, the present review attempts to consolidate the literature on the search for fluorine, fluorides and fluorinated ions in the extraterrestrial region, its abundance as well as their implications in both terrestrial and extraterrestrial fluorine chemistry. Revealed through a continued search over many decades, its formation and significant abundance in asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars and Wolf-Rayet stars, in neutrino spallation during supernovae (type II), or even in far distant star-forming galaxy indicate the possible ubiquity of fluorine in the vast stellar and diffuse interstellar medium. Because of the growing influence of fluorine in the terrestrial world, studying the fluorine effect in extraterrestrial atmosphere is quite intriguing.

Item does not contain fulltext BACKGROUND: Pectus excavatum is the most common congenital anterior chest wall deformity. Currently, a wide variety of diagnostic protocols and criteria for corrective surgery are being used. Their use is predominantly based on local preferences and experience. To date, no guideline is available, introducing heterogeneity of care as observed in current daily practice. The aim of this study was to evaluate consensus and controversies regarding the diagnostic protocol, indications for surgical correction, and postoperative evaluation of pectus excavatum. METHODS: The study consisted of 3 consecutive survey rounds evaluating agreement on different statements regarding pectus excavatum care. Consensus was achieved if at least 70% of participants provided a concurring opinion. RESULTS: All 3 rounds were completed by 57 participants (18% response rate). Consensus was achieved on 18 of 62 statements (29%). Regarding the diagnostic protocol, participants agreed to routinely include conventional photography. In the presence of cardiac impairment, electrocardiography and echocardiography were indicated. Upon suspicion of pulmonary impairment, spirometry was recommended. In addition, consensus was reached on the indications for corrective surgery, including symptomatic pectus excavatum and progression. Participants moreover agreed that a plain chest radiograph must be acquired directly after surgery, whereas conventional photography and physical examination should both be part of routine postoperative follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Through a multiround survey, international consensus was formed on multiple topics to aid standardization of pectus excavatum care. 01 juli 2023

The well understood structure of $U_{pmns}$ matrix mandates a Cabibbo mixing matrix in the first two generations of the charged lepton sector if we assume Tri-bimaximal mixing in the neutrino sector. This ansatz, called Tri-bimaximal-Cabibbo mixing, is ruled out immediately by the experiments searching for charged lepton flavour violating currents. In this article, we aim to show that the resurrection of the theoretically well motivated Tri-bimaximal mixing scenario comes naturally within Minimal Flavour Violation hypothesis in the lepton sector. We analyse the flavour violating currents $\mu\rightarrow e e e$, $\mu Ti \to e Ti$, $\mu \rightarrow e \gamma$, $\pi^0\rightarrow e^+ \mu^{-}$ and $K_L \rightarrow \mu^+ e^-$ in this scenario and show that the New Physics that generates mixing among the charged lepton could lie within the reach of hadron colliders. In the minimal field content scenario, though the most stringent constrain on New Physics is $\gtrsim \mathcal{O}(10$ TeV) for maximal coupling, considering more natural couplings relaxes it to $\gtrsim \mathcal{O}(4$ TeV). On the other hand, New Physics with the extended field content is even more strongly constrained to $\gtrsim \mathcal{O}(75$ TeV) for maximal coupling, while it gets relaxed to $\gtrsim \mathcal{O}(31$ TeV) for natural scenario., Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures

This study was designed with the aim to evaluate the effect of curing time on the shear-bond strength of orthodontic brackets bonded using light cure Resin-Modified Glass Ionomer Cements (RMGIC). This class of cement when used for luting orthodontic brackets offers certain advantages when compared to the more commonly used resin cements. Intact natural teeth (premolars) extracted for therapeutic purposes as part of orthodontic treatment was sourced for use in this study. The teeth were equally divided into four groups four testing, Group 1 - brackets bonded with RMGIC and cured for 3 seconds, Group 2 - brackets bonded RMGIC and cured for 6 seconds, Group 3 - brackets bonded with RMGIC and cured for 9 seconds and Control group - brackets bonded with composite and cured for 15 seconds. A high intensity LED light source was used to cure the cements. The Shear-Bond strength of the brackets was evaluated using a universal testing machine. One-way ANOVA test and Tukey multiple comparison tests were done to compare the difference of Shear-Bond Strengths among the groups tested. The average Shear Bond Strength among study groups was 7.64±2.86 MPa. The ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison tests could not identify a statistically significant difference in Shear-Bond Strengths among the groups. Curing time does not appear to have a statistically significant effect on the Shear Bond Strength of orthodontic brackets bonded using Resin-Modified Glass Ionomer Cements..

Atypical facial clefts are rare and result from partial or total non-fusion of embryonal craniofacial tissue. Tessier classified facial clefts and numbered them from 0 to 14, using the orbit as the primary structure of reference. The Tessier three cleft which extends through the upper lip, alar groove, and medial canthus is one of the most destructive of all facial clefts albeit one of the rarest. We report a case of isolated Tessier 3 facial cleft diagnosed on prenatal three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound examination. Two-dimensional sonography revealed a normally growing fetus with an absence of left alae nasi and normal appearing lips, palate, and alveolar ridges. However, a 3D imaging in surface rendering mode showed a large Tessier 3 lateral facial cleft, thus confirming the utility of 3D sonography in the prenatal diagnosis of such rare lateral facial clefts.

The coexistence of expiratory central airway collapse and diaphragmatic paralysis presents a diagnostic and treatment challenge. Both entities are underrecognized causes of dyspnea, cough, sputum production, and orthopnea. Optimal treatment must be individualized and is best achieved by a multidisciplinary team. We present a case of a patient with profound functional impairment from dyspnea and hypoxemia due to expiratory central airway collapse, complicated by bronchiectasis from recurrent respiratory infections, and diaphragmatic paralysis.

The widely inclusive lockdown articulated on 24th March 2020 by the Prime Minister as a careful step against COVID-19, trailed by ensuing augmentations, has brought about a halt of all financial movement in the country. The objective of the study is to frame different asymmetric price volatility models for Selected Companies under Energy Sector using 1-minute closing price from 15th October 2019 to 15th May 2020 to captivate the leverage effect of the pandemic. The asymmetric terms in the selected asymmetric models are providing sufficient proof that the stock price volatility of three companies out of six under NIFTY Energy i.e., BPCL, Power grid and Indian Oil Corporation are unfavourably influenced by the pandemic. 133 Background: In the PEACE-1 trial (Fizazi, ESMO 2021), in pts with dn-hv-mCSPC, the addition of abiraterone to ADT + docetaxel (triplet therapy arm) resulted in a median OS of 61 months (OS on ADT + docetaxel arm was 42 months). However, independent contribution of docetaxel to efficacy of ADT + abiraterone in the triplet therapy arm of PEACE-1 trial is not clear. Furthermore, the efficacy of an novel hormonal therapy (NHT) specifically in dn-hv-mCSPC population has not been reported (LATITUDE trial’s eligibility did not include volume status). Herein, our objective was to assess PFS and OS in a cohort of dn-hv-mCSPC pts undergoing intensified ADT with either NHT (i.e. novel androgen receptor or androgen synthesis inhibitors) or docetaxel. Methods: In this IRB-approved study, patient-level data were collected retrospectively. Eligibility: presence of dn-hv-mCSPC (hv per CHAARTED criteria) undergoing intensified ADT with either NHT or docetaxel started within 3 months of diagnosis. Study endpoints: PFS was calculated per PCWG-2 - defined PSA progression or radiographic progression or clinical progression whichever occurred first; OS was defined as start of therapy to date of death or censored at last follow-up. A multivariate analysis using the Cox proportional hazards (Cox-ph) model was used; the relationship between treatment intensification with both PFS and OS was assessed and adjusted for age at diagnosis, Gleason score, presence of visceral metastases, and PSA at baseline. Results: 85 pts with dn-hv-mCSPC were included: 45 received ADT + NHT; 40 received ADT + docetaxel. In the NHT vs docetaxel arms: median PFS were 23 vs 14 months; and median OS were 63 vs 36 months respectively. See the table for Cox-ph and adjusted co-variate results. Conclusions: We for the first-time report the real-world survival outcomes with ADT + NHT specifically in pts with dn-hv-mCSPC. In addition, in these hypothesis-generating data, the OS of pts with dn-hv-mCSPC undergoing ADT + NHT or ADT + docetaxel were similar to those in the triplet therapy arm or ADT + docetaxel arm of PEACE-1 trial respectively. A randomized trial in pts with dn-hv-mCSPC comparing ADT + NHT vs triplet therapy may better characterize the benefit of the docetaxel component in the triplet therapy.[Table: see text]

The charge conjugation operator in $4k+2$-dimensional space-time posses the peculiar property of preserving chiralities of the spinor fields its acting upon. This nature of $4k+2-$D fermions and its interactions, on compactifying the extra-dimension, leads to 4-dimensional operators with Kaluza Klein (KK) modes at the lowest order, specifically, in the context of baryon and lepton number violation. With the KK mass degeneracy lifted at 1-loop, these operators generate decays/annihilations of KK-1 fermion modes that violate baryon and lepton number. Moreover, including the fermion bilinear interaction with the broken polarization of the hypercharge gauge boson, namely the ``spineless adjoint scalar", these exotic operators generate proton decay and double proton annihilation. In the simplest scenario, this scalar field, being stable, become the Dark Matter (DM) candidate. Here, we discuss the $\Delta B=1 =\Delta L$ and $\Delta B=2=\Delta L$ operators, in $4k+2-$dimensions, in model independent effective field theory and derive the scale of New Physics using $p \to e^+ + \pi$, $DM+p\to DM+ e^+ + \pi$, $p+p \to e^+ +e^+$, $DM+p \to DM+ \bar{p}+e^++e^+$ and $(DM + e^-) + p \to (DM + e^+) + \bar{p} $ processes. Though the terrestrial experiments are not sensitive enough to Dark Matter influenced $\Delta B=2$, their rate can be enhanced substantially at super dense DM clumps and center of galaxy clusters where the Dark Matter distribution is much denser., Comment: 19 pages, 5 figures

Recovering lungs with pulmonary edema due to abnormal kidney function is considered one of the expanded selection criteria for lung transplant. The aim of this study is to assess lung transplant recipients' survival from donors with abnormal kidney function and to determine differences in lung recovery rates from donors with and donors without abnormal kidney function.We reviewed the United Network for Organ Sharing registry for first-time adult lung transplant donors and recipients from June 2005 to March 2017. Donor kidney function was categorized into three groups based on estimated glomerular filtration rate: group I, greater than 60 mL/min; group II, 15 to 59 mL/min; and group III, less than 15 mL/min. Recipient survival was stratified based on estimated glomerular filtration rate using Kaplan-Meier. A multivariate Cox Regression model with known risk factors that affect survival was used to compare survival among groups. Comparison of lung recovery among the three groups was also performed.Lung recovery rates were 29.7% (15,670 of 52,747), 19.4% (3879 of 20,040), and 18.1% (704 of 3898) for groups I, II, and III, respectively. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year recipient survival rates were 86.2%, 69.2%, and 55.7% for group I; 84.9%, 66.9%, and 53.8% for group II; and 85.5%, 65.3%, and 50.3% for group III, respectively (adjusted P = .25; multivariate Cox regression method). When group I was used as reference, the adjusted hazard ratio for group II was 1.04 (95% CI, 0.98-1.10) and for group III, it was 1.08 (95% CI, 0.96-1.23), after adjusting with the multivariate Cox regression model.There was no significant difference in lung recipient survival. The lung recovery rate from donors with abnormal kidney function was lower compared with that of donors with normal kidney function.

In this analysis, we systematically review and synthesize the results of two local-level studies linking various types of carbon emissions data with nationwide measures of affluence. We focus on the socio-economic dimensions of climate policy, differentiating between different sources of greenhouse gas emissions, and between different methods of collecting greenhouse gas emissions data. We demonstrate that high levels of affluence spatially displace carbon-intensive production-based emissions. We then synthesize a framework for future research on environmental policy design to explicitly consider the method of collecting data on carbon emissions by sector and activity. We offer strategies for policymakers regarding the conditions under which specific carbon emissions data collection methods may be more relevant or appropriate than other methods. We emphasize that more equitable environmental policy objectives can be achieved by recognizing the socio-economic dimensions of carbon emissions data, thus the importance of critically examining the way those data inform policy.
