Human amniotic membrane (hAM) is a collagen-based extracellular matrix that facilitates regenerative wound care. hAM offers several advantageous properties that promote epithelial cell growth, granulation, and angiogenesis. This case report demonstrates how Vivex Cygnus Matrix (Vivex Biologics, Miami, FL, USA) amniotic membrane was used over four weeks to graft a traumatic index finger injury that occurred while fishing. Cygnus Matrix allograft was first placed 72 hours after the accident. Following graft placement, the patient noted an immediate relief in pain and was able to return to all normal daily work activities within 48 hours of graft placement. Granulation tissue appeared a few days later. A total of four grafts were placed over the course of four weeks starting on September 4th, 2023. Typically, acute traumatic wounds are managed with a regimen of irrigation, wound dressing, and debridement. In this unique case, a distal fingertip amputation was treated with Cygnus Matrix allograft. A single hAM was applied weekly over the course of four weeks. Complete reepithelization of the injury was achieved with minimal scar formation. This paper demonstrates the use of hAM in healing acute traumatic wounds as an effective alternative to other more traditional treatments such as skin grafting, surgical reimplantation, and composite grafting. Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a common skin cancer that occurs due to various genetic and environmental factors. Diagnosis is made by a combination of clinical appearance, biopsy, imaging, and histopathological analysis. This review describes the current array of imaging modalities available to physicians to aid in the diagnosis of BCC. It is important to stay up-to-date with improvements in diagnostic screening, and knowledge of these options is instrumental in providing the best care to patients. Embase, Medline Industries, and PubMed were searched for articles within the past 10 years based on a search query that looked for imaging modalities used in the diagnosis and evaluation of a variety of dermatologic conditions. The search was further refined to focus on BCC and satisfy the inclusion/exclusion criteria determined by the authors. The research process was detailed in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses diagram. Dermoscopy is a non-invasive in vivo microscopic technique used to evaluate skin lesions. Features of dermoscopy cannot be visualized with the naked eye, and studies found that dermoscopy increased diagnostic accuracy. Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) examines skin morphology, and recent studies found that 100% of patients with BCC had tumor-free margins when diagnosed with RCM. It allows for a one-stop-shop for diagnosis. Optical spectroscopy samples multiple sites without removing tissue. It helps detect subtle biophysical differences, allowing for earlier diagnosis. High-frequency ultrasound (HFUS) helps determine tumor size, structure, depth of invasion and spread. Studies found statistically significant positive correlations between depth of spread and HFUS readings. Optical coherence tomography takes cross-sectional images to analyze histopathology and morphology. It produces high-resolution images, confers slightly more accurate results than a biopsy, and expedites the treatment process through an earlier diagnosis without a biopsy.These results will advance the fields of dermatology and radiology as they describe unique uses for these imaging modalities. There are a variety of ways to use microscopy, and these techniques may be applied to many different lesions and help revolutionize the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer and other lesions without the need for multiple, sometimes disfiguring surgical procedures. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by chronic abdominal pain and alterations in bowel habits, with global prevalence. The etiology of the disease is likely multifactorial; however, autonomic nervous system (ANS) dysfunction and immune-mediated inflammation may contribute the most to the hallmark symptoms of abdominal pain and altered motility of the gut. Current pharmacological therapies operate to modulate intestinal transit, alter the composition of the gut flora and control pain. Non-pharmacological approaches include dietary changes, increased physical activity, or fecal microbiota transplants. None of these therapies can modulate ANS dysfunction or impact the underlying inflammation that is likely perpetuating the symptoms of IBS. Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) is a clinical approach focused on physical manipulation of the body's soft tissues to correct somatic dysfunctions. OMM can directly target the pathophysiology of IBS through many approaches such as ANS modulation and lymphatic techniques to modify the inflammatory mechanisms within the body. Particular OMM techniques of use are lymphatic manipulation, myofascial release, sympathetic ganglia treatment, sacral rocking, counterstrain, and viscerosomatic treatment. Melanomas arise de novo or in the context of a precursor lesion. Lesions typically grow radially and then undergo a vertical growth phase proceeding to local invasion and metastasis. This review describes the utility of different imaging modalities in diagnosis and melanocytic lesion monitoring. A literature search was performed in November 2023 utilizing EMBASE, Medline, and PubMed. The PRISMA diagram demonstrates the review process. Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) utilizes near-infrared light to help diagnose dermatologic lesions. RCM was found to demonstrate nearly two times the positive predictive value compared to dermoscopy. The introduction of the Berlin Ultrasound (US) Morphology Criteria permitted a 65-80% improvement in diagnostic sensitivity. US with fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) accurately predicts the necessity for sentinel lymph node biopsy and lymphadenectomy, sparing patients with metastasis and prompting biopsy for equivocal lesions. Single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) is an adjunctive tool to anatomically and functionally assess lymphatic invasion. SPECT/CT improves the detection of sentinel nodes while decreasing operating time and improving cosmetic outcomes. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) with small voxel reconstruction demonstrated increased specificity and sensitivity for detecting in-transit metastases of melanomas, specifically in the limbs. Dermoscopy allows providers to cost-effectively recognize common lesion patterns. Multiphoton microscopy assigns a weight-based score based on malignant features. Optical coherence angiography captures images of vessels to help diagnose equivocal lesions. Utilization of imaging techniques may increase diagnostic accuracy, reduce unnecessary procedures, and help guide treatment plans. Infant mortality is one of the leading public health crises in Nepal. While Nepal has made significant advances in mitigating under-five mortality, much work is still needed to be done regarding the healthcare of infants. The Nepalese government has identified this as a problem and has introduced a series of interventions to improve the health outcomes of infants. The aim of this review is to identify the goals, interventions, and effectiveness of major infant mortality prevention programs around the country. A comprehensive literature search was performed using PubMed and Google Scholar. The literature search revealed six programs that Nepal has utilized to combat infant mortality. The Community Based Management of Childhood Illness (CB-IMCI) program utilizes specially trained community workers to help identify and treat children with common childhood illnesses. The National Neonatal Health Strategy (NNHS) links families to the community and then to the broader healthcare system, with success found in its referral system. The Safe Delivery Incentives Program (SDIP) has found success with monetizing safe delivery practices, and shown an increase in safe deliveries with skilled healthcare workers present. Free Newborn Care (FNC) services were aimed at treating sick newborns for free, but ongoing concerns for program sustainability have led to further revision. The Every Newborn Action Plan (ENAP) is another plan aimed at preventing newborn deaths through improving health system administration and finances, but with limited efficacy data, it is hard to determine its success due to the lack of objective benchmark markers and data collected. Finally, the Birth Preparedness Package (BPP) is a highly efficacious program that encourages communities to plan for pregnancies by planning for delay barriers. Nepal has made significant strides in reducing infant mortality; however, much work still needs to be done. First released in 2006, DrugBank (https://go.drugbank.com) has grown to become the 'gold standard' knowledge resource for drug, drug-target and related pharmaceutical information. DrugBank is widely used across many diverse biomedical research and clinical applications, and averages more than 30 million views/year. Since its last update in 2018, we have been actively enhancing the quantity and quality of the drug data in this knowledgebase. In this latest release (DrugBank 6.0), the number of FDA approved drugs has grown from 2646 to 4563 (a 72% increase), the number of investigational drugs has grown from 3394 to 6231 (a 38% increase), the number of drug-drug interactions increased from 365 984 to 1 413 413 (a 300% increase), and the number of drug-food interactions expanded from 1195 to 2475 (a 200% increase). In addition to this notable expansion in database size, we have added thousands of new, colorful, richly annotated pathways depicting drug mechanisms and drug metabolism. Likewise, existing datasets have been significantly improved and expanded, by adding more information on drug indications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions and many other relevant data types for 11 891 drugs. We have also added experimental and predicted MS/MS spectra, 1D/2D-NMR spectra, CCS (collision cross section), RT (retention time) and RI (retention index) data for 9464 of DrugBank's 11 710 small molecule drugs. These and other improvements should make DrugBank 6.0 even more useful to a much wider research audience ranging from medicinal chemists to metabolomics specialists to pharmacologists., (© The Author(s) 2023. Toxic contamination of agricultural soils by trace metal(oid)s can pose detrimental effects on human health and agroecological systems. In this view, the current research explored total and available metal(oid)s in surface soils and assessed the associated hazards using pollution indices, PMF modeling, PCA, and Montecarlo probabilistic human risk assessment with 10,000 repetitions. The mean concentrations of Cd, Pb, As, Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, and Fe were 0.89, 24.86, 1.81, 19.10, 25.44, 7.98, 49.12 and 6183.32 mg kg -1 dry weight, respectively. These findings highlighted that the concentration of pollutants exceeded the values measured in the geochemical background. Soil enrichment by heavy metal (oid)s was confirmed by analyzing available fractions using DTPA ,CaCl 2 and enrichment factor (EF). Additionally, pollution indicators (Igeo, PLI, and PERI) displayed significant contamination levels, with a higher ecological risk. Matrix Factorization (PMF) receptor and multivariate statistical analysis reflected that anthropogenic activities, particularly landfilling and agricultural practices were the main causes of the contamination. Furthermore, probabilistic and deterministic human risk assessments showed that carcinogenic risks exceeded the threshold values (10 -4 ) set by the USEPA. Consequently, it is crucial to implement continuous monitoring and supervision of landfill sites to prevent additional pollution. Aim: Contrast-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance (Ce-CMR) and Fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) are frequently utilized in clinical practice to assess myocardial viability. However, studies evaluating direct comparison between Ce-CMR and FDG-PET have a smaller sample size, and no clear distinction between the two imaging modalities has been defined. To address this gap, we conducted a meta-analysis of studies comparing Ce-CMR and FDG-PET for the assessment of myocardial viability., Methods: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and Web of Science databases from their inception to 4/20/2022 with search terms "viability" AND "heart diseases" AND "cardiac magnetic resonance imaging" AND "positron-emission tomography." We extracted patient characteristics, segment level viability assessment according to Ce-CMR and FDG-PET, and change in regional wall motion abnormalities (RWMA) at follow-up., Results: We included four studies in the meta-analysis which provided viability assessment with Ce-CMR and FDG-PET in all patients and change in RWMA at follow-up. There were 82 patients among the four included studies, and 585 segments were compared for viability assessment. There were 59 (72%) males, and mean age was 65 years. The sensitivity (95% confidence interval-CI) and specificity (CI) of Ce-CMR for predicting myocardial recovery were 0.88 (0.66-0.96) and 0.64 (0.49-0.77), respectively. The sensitivity (CI) and specificity (CI) of FDG-PET for predicting myocardial recovery were 0.91 (0.63-0.99) and 0.67 (0.49-0.81), respectively., Conclusion: FDG-PET and Ce-CMR have comparable diagnostic parameters in myocardial viability assessment and are consistent with prior research., (© 2023. Sarcoidosis is a rare, chronic, granulomatous disease of unknown etiology and primarily effects the lymphatic and respiratory systems. The central nervous system (CNS) is unusually implicated in sarcoidosis patients. We describe a rare magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in a case of isolated neurosarcoidosis. The evaluation of suspect patients requires radiological imaging studies, especially MRIs. Primary lymphoma of the adrenal gland is an uncommon origin of adrenal tumors; it must be explicitly invoked anytime bilateral adrenal affections are revealed. We report a case of bilateral primary adrenal diffuse large B cell lymphoma and perform a review of the literature. Our patient was a 55-year-old man who presented night sweats and a feeling of cardiac palpitations all evolving in a context of deterioration of his general condition. An ultrasound study was requested reporting a bilateral mass corresponding to the adrenal region. A thoraco-abdominopelvic CT scan was requested and revealed bilateral homogenous, polylobed, adrenal masses, discreetly enhanced after injection of contrast product. These masses were associated with multiple retroperitoneal, para-aortic, and celio-mesenteric adenopathies. Anatomopathologic examination of the percutaneous CT-guided biopsy specimen of the adrenal tumor revealed the presence of diffuse large B cell lymphoma grade IIIB according to the Ann Arbor system. Primary adrenal lymphoma PAL on its own is an extremely rare disease entity and less than 100 cases have been reported in the last 40 years. A large proportion of PAL case reports showed that this disease usually has no excretory endocrine function and the symptoms are due to the pressure effect of the mass, whereas adrenal insufficiency usually exists. Our patient presented symptoms of indrenal insufficiency which seems to be the reason for the early diagnosis. Pigeon pea is an important protein-rich pulse crop. Identification of flowering master regulators in pigeon pea is highly imperative as indeterminacy and late flowering are impediments towards yield improvement. A genome-wide analysis was performed to explore flowering orthologous groups in pigeon pea. Among the 412 floral orthologs identified in pigeon pea, 148 genes belong to the meristem identity, photoperiod-responsive, and circadian clock-associated ortholog groups. Our comparative genomics study revealed purifying selection pressures (ka/ks) on floral orthologs, and duplication patterns and evolution through synteny with other model species. Phylogenetic analysis of floral genes substantiated a connection between pigeon pea plant architecture and flowering time as all the PEBP domain-containing genes belong to meristem identity floral networks of pigeon pea. Expression profiling of eleven major orthologs in contrasting determinate and indeterminate genotypes indicated that these orthologs might be involved in flowering regulation. Expression of floral inducer, FT, and floral repressor, TFL1, was non-comparable in indeterminate genotypes across all the developmental stages of pigeon pea. However, dynamic FT/TFL1 expression ratio detected in all tissues of both the genotypes suggested their role in floral transition. One TFL1 ortholog having high sequence conserveness across pigeon pea genotypes showed differential expression indicating genotype-dependent regulation of this ortholog. Presence of conserved 6mA-methylation patterns in light-responsive elements and in other cis-regulatory elements of FT and TFL1 across different plant genotypes indicated possible involvement of epigenetic regulation in flowering., (© 2023. In recent years, controlled low strength material (CLSM) has been utilized as an alternate backfill material for various infrastructure applications such as filling of voids, construction of pavement bases, trench backfilling, bed for pipelines, etc. Efforts have been made by researchers to utilize various waste materials/industrial by-products such as slag, fly ash, pond ash, cement kiln dust, red mud, sludge, construction and demolition waste and crumb rubber for development of sustainable CLSM. The present work discusses in details the evolution of CLSM, recent advances in the development of CLSM with different waste materials/industrial by-products, and the effect of these sustainable materials on flowability, strength, hardening time and other properties of CLSM. Further, the benefits/challenges and applications of different sustainable CLSM mixes have been compared. The inferences from pilot/field scale studies for CLSM and alkali activated CLSM have been discussed, and assessment of the sustainability coefficient of select CLSM combinations considered from the literature have been performed. Objective: This study aims to investigate the role of community-level emergency contraceptive pill (ECP) awareness in reducing unwanted births (UWBs) in Bangladesh and explore the regional variation in women's appropriateness to adopt long-acting reversible contraceptives or permanent methods (LARCPMs) based on their child desire., Design, Settings and Participants: We used data from the cross-sectional Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey 2017-2018. We analysed the planning status of the last live birth 3 years preceding the survey of 20,127 ever-married women of reproductive age., Methods: Considering women were nested within clusters, a mixed-effect multiple logistic regression was implemented to investigate the association between community-level ECP awareness and UWB by controlling for the effects of contextual, individual, and household characteristics., Results: Only 3.7% of women belonged to communities with high ECP awareness. At the national level, 2% of women had UWB. About 2.1% of women who resided in communities of low ECP awareness had UWB, while UWB was only 0.5% among women residing in high ECP awareness communities. The odds of UWB was 71% lower among women who resided in high ECP awareness communities than among those who resided in communities with low ECP awareness. However, community-level ECP awareness could not avert mistimed birth. Dhaka, Chattogram and Rangpur held the highest share of UWB. Fertility persisted for 89% of the women who wanted no more children. Among women who wanted no more children, 15% were not using any method, 13% used traditional family planning methods and only 13% adopted LARCPM. These women mostly resided in Dhaka, followed by Chattogram and Rajshahi., Conclusion: This study highlights the significant positive role of ECP awareness in reducing UWB in Bangladesh. Introduction: Pulsed-field ablation (PFA) and the multielectrode radiofrequency balloon (RFB) are two novel ablation technologies to perform pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). It is currently unknown whether these technologies differ in lesion formation and lesion extent. We compared the acute lesion extent after PVI induced by PFA and RFB by measuring low-voltage area in high-density maps and the release of biomolecules reflecting cardiac injury., Methods: PVI was performed with a pentaspline catheter (FARAPULSE) applying PFA or with the compliant multielectrode RFB (HELIOSTAR). Before and after PVI high-density mapping with CARTO 3 was performed. In addition, blood samples were taken before transseptal puncture and after post-PVI remapping and serum concentrations of high-sensitive Troponin I were quantified by immunoassay., Results: Sixty patients undergoing PVI by PFA (n = 28, age 69 ± 12 year, 60% males, 39.3% persistent atrial fibrillation [AF]) or RFB (n = 32, age 65 ± 13 year, 53% males, 21.9% persistent AF) were evaluated. Acute PVI was achieved in all patients in both groups. Mean number of PFA pulses was 34.2 ± 4.5 and mean number RFB applications was 8.5 ± 3 per patient. Total posterior ablation area was significantly larger in PFA (20.7 ± 7.7 cm²) than in RFB (7.1 ± 2.09 cm²; p < .001). Accordingly, posterior ablation area for each PV resulted in larger lesions after PFA versus RFB (LSPV 5.2 ± 2.7 vs. 1.9 ± 0.8 cm², LIPV 5.5 ± 2.3 vs. 1.9 ± 0.8 cm², RSPV 4.7 ± 1.9 vs. 1.6 ± 0.5 cm², RIPV 5.3 ± 2.1 vs. 1.6 ± 0.7 cm,² respectively; p < .001). In a subset of 38 patients, increase of hsTropI was higher after PFA (625 ± 138 pg/mL, n = 28) versus RFB (148 ± 36 pg/mL, n = 10; p = .049) supporting the evidence of larger lesion extent by PFA., Conclusion: PFA delivers larger acute lesion areas and higher troponin release upon successful PVI than multielectrode RFB-based PVI in this single-center series., (© 2023 The Authors. Purpose: The latest Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines advocate that all hospitals use sepsis performance improvement programs. However, there is a limited evidence about how to structure such programs and what their potential impact is on sepsis management and outcomes in the emergency department (ED). In this study, we evaluated the implementation of a sepsis performance improvement program in the ED including a dedicated sepsis response team and analyzed the management and outcomes of sepsis patients before and after., Methods: We conducted a before-after interventional study in the ED of the Amsterdam University Medical Centers, the Netherlands. The sepsis performance improvement program included regular educational meetings, daily audits and weekly feedback, a screening tool, and a dedicated multidisciplinary sepsis response team. We studied all adult patients who presented to the ED with a suspected infection and a Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS) ≥ 3 during their stay. In the postintervention phase, these patients were seen by the sepsis team. Process-related and patient-related outcomes were measured between November 2019 and February 2020 (preintervention) and December 2021-May 2022 (postintervention)., Results: A total of 265 patients were included in the primary study, 132 patients preintervention and 133 patients postintervention. The postintervention phase was associated with improvements in nearly all process-related outcomes, such as a shorter time to antibiotics (66 vs. 143 min; p < 0.001), increased number of lactate measurements (72.9 vs. 46.2%; p < 0.001), and improved completeness of documented MEWS scores (85.0 vs. 62.9%; p < 0.001). Except for an improvement in the number of immediate versus delayed ICU admissions (100% immediate vs. 64.3% immediate; p = 0.012), there was no improvement in the other patient-related outcomes such as 28 days mortality (14.3 vs. 9.1%; p = 0.261), during the postintervention phase., Conclusion: Our program stimulated physicians to make timely decisions regarding diagnostics and treatment of sepsis in the ED. Implementing the sepsis performance improvement program was associated with significant improvements in most process-related outcomes but with minimal improvements in patient-related outcomes in our cohort., (© 2022. Aim: Fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) are frequently used advanced cardiac imaging to diagnose cardiac sarcoidosis (CS). We conducted a meta-analysis and systematic review to compare diagnostic parameters of FDG-PET and CMR in the diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis (CS)., Methods: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus databases from their inception to 9/30/2021 with search terms "cardiac sarcoidosis" AND "cardiac magnetic resonance imaging" AND "positronemission tomography". We extracted patient characteristics, results of the FDG-PET and CMR, and adverse outcomes from the included studies. Adverse outcomes served as a reference standard for the evaluation of FDG-PET and CMR., Results: We included 4 studies in the meta-analysis which provided adverse outcomes and all patients underwent FDG-PET and CMR. There were 237 patients, 60.3% male, and ages ranged from 50-53 years. There were 45 events in 237 patients from four studies included in the meta-analyses. The pooled sensitivity (95% confidence interval-CI) and specificity (CI) of CMR in predicting an adverse event were 0.94 (0.79-0.98) and 0.49 (0.40-0.59), respectively. The pooled sensitivity (CI) and specificity (CI) of FDG-PET in predicting an adverse event were 0.51 (0.26-0.75) and 0.60 (0.35-0.81), respectively., Conclusion: CMR was more sensitive but less specific than FDG-PET in predicting adverse events; however, the study population and definition of a positive test need to be considered while interpreting the results., (© 2022. Objective: This explorative study aims to identify the gaps in COVID-19 management and their consequences on physicians in terms of contracting infection and psychological well-being during the early phase of the pandemic., Design, Settings and Participants: We conducted a nationwide cross-sectional online study to collect information from 420 intern doctors who were at their internship in government medical colleges from February to August 2020., Methods: We performed univariate and bivariate analyses to assess COVID-19 management. We investigated the consequences of COVID-19 management on infection risk, experiencing stress, developing anxiety, depression and sleep disturbance using five sets of multivariable logistic regression analyses., Results: Findings indicate a delay in first-case detection and identify people's tendency to hide COVID-19 symptoms as one of the possible causes of that delay. About 56% of the intern doctors experienced that patients were trying to hide COVID-19 symptoms in the earlier phase of the pandemic. More than half of the respondents did not get any training on COVID-19 from their working institutions. About 30% and 20% of the respondents did not use personal protective equipment (PPE) and masks while treating patients. Respondents who treated patients without PPE, masks, face shields and gloves were almost two times as likely to be infected by COVID-19. The odds of experiencing COVID-19-related stress was almost twofold among respondents who treated patients without wearing PPE and masks. Experiencing COVID-19-related stress was further associated with an increased risk of developing anxiety and depression that led to sleep disturbance., Conclusion: Ensuring the maximum utilization of limited resources during any public health crisis such as COVID-19 needs developing coping mechanisms by projecting future demand. The pathologies and lesions affecting the sesamoid bones of the hallux are uncommon and can be easily overlooked. Among them, sesamoiditis is a relatively rare condition known to cause severe great toe pain; lack of awareness of this particular entity leads to misdiagnosis, delayed treatment, and contributes to significant morbidity. Herein, we present a chronic sesamoiditis case occurring on a medial bipartite sesamoid bone, presenting as chronic great toe pain. The main purpose of this work is to discuss the role of magnetic resonance imaging and X-rays in the diagnosis process. Background: A novel multielectrode radiofrequency balloon (RFB) catheter has been released for pulmonary vein isolation (PVI)., Methods and results: In this observational study consecutive patients with drug-refractory paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing first-time PVI were enrolled in 2 high-volume ablation centers. All procedures were conducted in conjunction with a 3D-mapping system. Clinical, procedural and ablation parameters were systematically analyzed. 105 patients (58% male; 52% paroxysmal AF, 68±11.3 years mean age, left atrial volume index 38.6±14.8 mL/m 2 ) were included. 241/412 (58.5%) PVs were successfully isolated with a single shot (SS), with a time-to-isolation of 11.6±8 s. Total number of radiofrequency applications was 892 (mean 2.2/PV), resulting in successful isolation of 408/412 (99%) PVs at the end of the procedure. Mean electrodes' impedance drop was significantly higher in the SS-PVI compared with non-SS applications (21.5±6.6 vs. 18.6±6.5 Ohm). Concordantly, higher temperature rise was observed in the SS vs. non-SS applications (10.9±4.9℃ vs. 9.6±4.7℃)., Conclusions: In this multicenter real-world study, mean impedance drop and temperature rise were associated with successful SS-PVI applying the novel RFB catheter. These parameters may help to guide efficient usage of the new RF balloon.

Aims: A novel irrigated radiofrequency (RF) balloon (RFB) for pulmonary vein (PV) isolation (PVI) was released in selected centres. We pooled the procedural data on efficacy and safety of RFB-PVI from two high volume German centres., Methods and Results: Consecutive patients with RFB procedures were enrolled. A 3D electroanatomical left atrial map guided the RFB navigation. Every RF delivery lasted 60 s, and duration was automatically reduced to 20 s for electrodes facing the posterior wall. Procedural data and post-procedural endoscopy data (<48 h) were analysed. Data from 140 patients were collected (57% male, 67 ± 11 years, 57% paroxysmal atrial fibrillation). There were 547 PVs identified, and 99.1% could be isolated using solely the RFB. Single-shot PVI was recorded in 330/547 (60%) PVs. Median time to isolation during the first application was 10 s (IQR 8-13). A total of 2.1 ± 1.8 applications per PV were delivered, with the left superior PV requiring more application compared to other PVs. Median procedure and fluoroscopy time were 77 min (61-99) and 13 min (10-17), respectively. Major safety events were recorded only in the first 25 cases at each centre and included 1/140(0.7%) cardiac tamponade, 1/140(0.7%) phrenic nerve palsy, and 2/140 strokes (1.4%). An oesophageal temperature rise was recorded in 81/547 (15%) PVs, and endoscopy detected oesophageal lesions in 7/85 (8%) patients undergoing endoscopy., Conclusion: The RFB showed a high efficacy allowing for fast PVI procedures, and 60% of PVs could be isolated at the first application. Most safety events were recorded during the learning phase. Background: Measuring perception of patient safety culture among pharmacists working in community pharmacies is crucial to identify opportunities and areas that require improvement. The aim of this work is to measure patient safety culture among pharmacists working in community pharmacies in Cairo., Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among pharmacists working in community pharmacies in the center and south regions of Cairo. The Pharmacy Survey on Patient Safety Culture (PSOPSC), developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) was used to collect data., Results: The study included 210 community pharmacies with a 95% response rate. The mean age of pharmacists was 28 ± 5.4 years. The overall positive response percentage (PRP) ranged between 35 and 69% with a mean of 57.4%. The highest PRP was identified in the domains of "teamwork" (68.97%), "organizational learning-continuous improvement" (64.93%) and "patient counseling" (61.83%). The PRP was less than 60% in 6 out of the 11 composites. The lowest PRP was found in the domain of "staffing, work pressure, and pace", which scored 34.98%., Conclusion: The study identified areas of patient safety culture that require improvement in community pharmacies, especially in allocating staff, appropriate working hours, and training community pharmacists on the importance and principles of patient safety. Arthritis is the inflammation and tenderness of the joints because of some metabolic, infectious, or constitutional reasons. Existing arthritis treatments help in controlling the arthritic flares, but more advancement is required to cure arthritis meticulously. Biomimetic nanomedicine represents an exceptional biocompatible treatment to cure arthritis by minimizing the toxic effect and eliminating the boundaries of current therapeutics. Various intracellular and extracellular pathways can be targeted by mimicking the surface, shape, or movement of the biological system to form a bioinspired or biomimetic drug delivery system. Different cell-membrane-coated biomimetic systems, and extracellular-vesicle-based and platelets-based biomimetic systems represent an emerging and efficient class of therapeutics to treat arthritis. The cell membrane from various cells such as RBC, platelets, macrophage cells, and NK cells is isolated and utilized to mimic the biological environment. Extracellular vesicles isolated from arthritis patients can be used as diagnostic tools, and plasma or MSCs-derived extracellular vesicles can be used as a therapeutic target for arthritis. Biomimetic systems guide the nanomedicines to the targeted site by hiding them from the surveillance of the immune system. Nanomedicines can be functionalized using targeted ligand and stimuli-responsive systems to reinforce their efficacy and minimize off-target effects. This review expounds on various biomimetic systems and their functionalization for the therapeutic targets of arthritis treatment, and discusses the challenges for the clinical translation of the biomimetic system.

Pituitary stalk interruption syndrome (PSIS) is an uncommon congenital defect of the pituitary gland. It is considered one of the rare endocrinal causes of abnormally short stature. Herein, we present a case of a four-year-old girl who consulted for short stature and delayed growth. The patient's history did not include any past medical or surgical pathology. Birth history revealed a full-term delivery with a breech presentation. Clinically, the patient had a small stature, beneath the third percentile. Magnetic resonance imaging findings, through a typical triad, were consistent with PSIS. We describe through this report, what we believe is a rare typical case of PSIS. This case was discovered in a young patient with pituitary dwarfism. Background: Eosinophilic myocarditis (EM) secondary to eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is a rare disease, for which cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) is a useful non-invasive modality for diagnosis. We present a case of EM in a patient who recently recovered from COVID-19 and discuss the role of CMRI and endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) to differentiate between COVID-19-associated myocarditis and EM., Case Summary: A 20-year-old Hispanic male with a history of sinusitis and asthma, and who recently recovered from COVID-19, presented to the emergency room with pleuritic chest pain, dyspnoea on exertion, and cough. His presentation labs were pertinent for leucocytosis, eosinophilia, elevated troponin, and elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein. The electrocardiogram showed sinus tachycardia. Echocardiogram showed an ejection fraction of 40%. The patient was admitted, and on day 2 of admission, he underwent CMRI which showed findings of EM and mural thrombi. On hospital day 3, the patient underwent right heart catheterization and EMB which confirmed EM. The patient was treated with steroids and mepolizumab. He was discharged on hospital day 7 and continued outpatient heart failure treatment., Discussion: This is a unique case of EM and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction as a presentation of EGPA, in a patient who recently recovered from COVID-19. Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) provide new opportunities for the sustainable production of energy, converting organic matter into electricity through microorganisms. Moreover, MFCs play an important role in remediation of environmental pollutants from wastewater with power generation. This work focuses on the evaluation of ferroelectric perovskite materials as a new class of non-precious photocatalysts for MFC cathode construction. Nanoparticles of BaTiO 3 (BT) were prepared and tested in a microbial fuel cell (MFC) as photocathode catalytic components. The catalyst phases were synthesized, identified and characterized by XRD, SEM, UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, P-E hysteresis and dielectric measurements. The maximum absorption of BT nanoparticles was recorded at 285 nm and the energy gap (Eg) was estimated to be 3.77 eV. Photocatalytic performance of cathodes coated with BaTiO 3 was measured in a dark environment and then in the presence of a UV-visible (UV-Vis) light source, using a mixture of dairy industry and domestic wastewater as a feedstock for the MFCs. The performance of the BT cathodic component is strongly dependent on the presence of UV-Vis irradiation. The BT-based cathode functioning under UV-visible light improves the maximum power densities and the open circuit voltage (OCV) of the MFC system. The values increased from 64 mW m -2 to 498 mW m -2 and from 280 mV to 387 mV, respectively, showing that the presence of light effectively improved the photocatalytic activity of this ceramic. Furthermore, the MFCs operating under optimal conditions were able to reduce the chemical oxygen demand load in wastewater by 90% (initial COD = 2500 mg L -1 ).

Social search has stably evolved across various species and is often used by humans to search for resources (such as food, information, social partners). In turn, these resources frequently come distributed in patches or clusters. In the current work, we use an ecologically inspired agent-based model to investigate whether social search and clustering are stable outcomes of the dynamical mutual interactions between the two. While previous research has studied unidirectional influences of social search on resource clustering and vice versa, the current work investigates the consequential patterns emerging from their two-way interactions over time. In our model, consumers evolved search strategies (ranging from competitive to social) as adaptations to their environmental resource structures, and resources varied in distributions (ranging from random to clustered) that were shaped by agents' consumption patterns. Across four experiments, we systematically analyzed the patterns of influence that search strategies and environment structure have on each other to identify stable attractor states of both. In Experiment 1, we fixed resource clustering at various levels and observed its influence on social search, and in Experiment 2, we observed the influence of social search on resource distribution. In both these experiments we found that increasing levels of one variable produced increases in the other; however, at very high levels of the manipulated variable, the dependent variable tended to fall. Finally in Experiments 3 and 4, we studied the dynamics that arose when resource clustering and social search could both change and mutually influence each other, finding that low levels of social search and clustering were stable attractor states. Purpose: Peripheral neuropathy has been reported commonly in several spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) types. To date, there is a lack of robust evidence for neuropathy or neuronopathy in SCA type 6 (SCA6). Here, we aim to evaluate the presence of neuropathy or neuronopathy in a cohort of SCA6 patients., Methods: Twenty-four individuals with genetically confirmed SCA6 underwent detailed neurophysiological assessment. This included nerve conduction studies, and in some, cutaneous silent periods, blink reflexes, tilt table tests, quantitative sudomotor axon reflex tests, and somatosensory (median and tibial) evoked potentials., Results: Mean age was 56.1 years (range, 22-94 years) at the time of testing. Four patients were presymptomatic of SCA6 at recruitment. The mean disease duration of symptomatic patients was 11.9 years (range, 1-40 years). Most patients (79.2%, 19/24) had no neurophysiological evidence of a peripheral neuropathy. One with impaired glucose tolerance had mild, large, and small fiber sensorimotor polyneuropathy. One elderly patient had length-dependent axonal sensorimotor polyneuropathy. Two had minor sensory abnormalities (one had type II diabetes and previous chemotherapy). One other had minor small fiber abnormalities. Ten patients (41.7%) had median neuropathies at the wrist. All somatosensory evoked potential (15/15), and most autonomic function tests (13/14) were normal., Conclusions: A large proportion of subjects (79.2%) in our cohort had no evidence of large or small fiber neuropathy. The involvement of the genital tract of a hydatid cyst is rare and the occurrence in the uterus is an extreme rarity. The diagnosis of this localization is difficult because the clinical and radiological findings are often misleading and the diagnosis is often worn during surgery and after histopathological examination of the surgical specimen. We report the case of a patient who consulted for primary infertility, with a clinical finding as the only anomaly significantly large uterus, and imaging pointing strongly toward an ovarian multilocular cyst, and in which the discovery of hydatid cyst was accidental intraoperative with double localization uterine and omental. Radical treatment cannot be discussed in this young patient of 32 years and gravid 0. The removal of the cyst wall completely and excision of the mass epiploic seemed reasonable. Background: Dementia is a priority for global public health. The management of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) is one of the highest ongoing challenges and needs new approaches. The special care unit for people with dementia and BPSD (SCU-B) is viewed in this context as a further medical intervention., Aim: this study aims to explore SCU-B units in order to describe their main characteristics in relation to different implementation contexts, identify the characteristics of their replicability, and examine the social innovation elements promoted by SCU-B units., Method: This qualitative study is based on focus groups (FGs) and interviews involving nine international centers. Five of the centers have a memory clinic unit and SCU-B, compared with six that only have a memory clinic unit. A total number of 18 FGs were held, which altogether involved 164 participants. All data were transcribed verbatim and analyzed by means of a content analysis and a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis., Results: The qualitative analysis offers a vision of the SCU-B model as an innovative care unit for BPSD, promoting social innovation in the long-term care (LTC) sector. This system mainly targets people with dementia and BPSD and their informal caregivers but encourages collaboration between dementia care stakeholders at the micro and meso levels., Conclusions: Specific characteristics of the country's LTC systems and the organization of specialized units are determinants for the success of the SCU-B experience. The replicability of the entire SCU-B model was considered low; however, the implementation of single elements composing the SCU-B model may foster innovation. This study provides relevant suggestions on how to implement the SCU-B unit and innovative solutions for dementia care.

It is well known that the presence of a blood-brain barrier (BBB) makes drug delivery to the brain more challenging. There are various mechanistic routes through which therapeutic molecules travel and deliver the drug across the BBB. Among all the routes, the transcellular route is widely explored to deliver therapeutics. Advances in nanotechnology have encouraged scientists to develop novel formulations for brain drug delivery. In this article, we have broadly discussed the BBB as a limitation for brain drug delivery and ways to solve it using novel techniques such as nanomedicine, nose-to-brain drug delivery, and peptide as a drug delivery carrier. In addition, the article will help to understand the different factors governing the permeability of the BBB, as well as various formulation-related factors and the body clearance of the drug delivered into the brain.

Nutcracker syndrome (NCS) belongs to a group of rare vascular disorders. It refers to compression of the left renal vein (LRV) generally between the abdominal aorta (AA) and the superior mesenteric artery (SMA). It is one of the most unknown causes of chronic abdominal pain. Herein, we present the case of a young patient who came to the emergency department for acute abdominal pain. Patient's history revealed an uncharacterized chronic epigastric pain evolving for 13 years. The present work is the first investigation of the electrocatalytic performances of ZrP 2 O 7 as a cathode in a single-chamber Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) for the conversion of chemical energy from wastewater to bioelectricity. This catalyst was prepared by a coprecipitation method, then characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), ultraviolet-visible-near-infrared spectrophotometry (UV-Vis-NIR), and cyclic voltammetry analyses. The acid-basic characteristics of the surface were probed by using 2-butanol decomposition. The conversion of 2-butanol occurs essentially through the dehydrating reaction, indicating the predominantly acidic character of the solid. The electrochemical test shows that the studied cathode material is electroactive. In addition, the ZrP 2 O 7 in the MFC configuration exhibited high performance in terms of bioelectricity generation, giving a maximum output power density of around 449 mW m -2 ; moreover, it was active for wastewater treatment, reducing the chemical oxygen demand (COD) charge to 50% after three days of reaction.

Study Objective: Cancer and heart disease are leading causes of mortality, and cardio-oncology is emerging as a new field addressing the cardiovascular toxicities related to cancer and cancer therapy. Interdisciplinary research platforms that incorporate digital health to optimize cardiovascular health and wellness in cancer survivors are therefore needed as we advance in the digital era. Our goal was to develop the Connected Health Innovation Research Program (C.H.I.R.P.) to serve as a foundation for future integration and assessments of adoption and clinical efficacy of digital health tools for cardiovascular health and wellness in the general population and in oncology patients., Design/setting/participants: Partner companies were identified through the American Medical Association innovation platform, as well as LinkedIn and direct contact by our team. Company leaders met with our team to discuss features of their technology or software. Non-disclosure agreements were signed and data were discussed and obtained for descriptive or statistical analysis., Results: A suite of companies with technologies focused on wellness, biometrics tracking, audio companions, oxygen saturation, weight trends, sleep patterns, heart rate variability, electrocardiogram patterns, blood pressure patterns, real-time metabolism tracking, instructional video modules, or integration of these technologies into electronic health records was collated. Cadmium (Cd) is an environmental and occupational pollutant inhaled through smoking or ingested through contaminated food. Yet, little is known about its teratogenicity. In this study, the effects of Cd on embryonic heart development were investigated by exposing Cd to chicken embryos in ovo. Fertilized eggs were treated with Cd at Hamburger-Hamilton Stage (HH)16 and collected at HH35 for histological evaluation of the heart. Cd treatment of 100 μM at HH16 increased embryo mortality at HH35. Specific structural heart defects were not observed in any Cd treatment group, but the relative myocardial tissue area of the right ventricle was increased with Cd exposure. When the HH31 hearts were stained with p-H3S10, the right ventricle had an increased number of cells undergoing proliferation, which was associated with upregulation of Cdk1, Cdk6, CycA, CycD, and CycE detected by qPCR. These findings suggest that Cd exposure from HH16 upregulates proliferation genes and drives overgrowth of the right ventricle. These results grant further attention to Cd teratogenicity on embryonic heart development. Our case report presents a patient with central pontine myelinolysis and arachnoidocele. He was hospitalized twice these 2 last months for a confusional syndrome associated to an alteration of his general health where metabolic disorders where found: a hyponatremia at 125 mmol/l that was quickly corrected and a hypoglycemia at 0.30 g/l. A central pontine myelinolysis was found as an iso-signal on T1-weighted sequences and a hypersignal on T2-weighted and FLAIR sequences on magnetic resonnance imaging. Central pontine myelinolysis lesions did not enhance with contrast. Incidental imaging findings of arachnoidocele was detected. Through this case, we would like to share with the other practitioners these rare images and the consequence of a diagnostic delay. Indeed, hyponatremia in our patient could be the consequence of the intrasellar arachnoidocele and the overly rapid correction of this chronic hyponatremia caused central pontine myelinolysis, or it is an accidental phenomenon where we found both lesions., (© 2022 The Authors. Hepatic hemangiomas may rarely arise outside the extra-hepatic capsule. It appears as a pedunculated mass. We report the case of a 58-year-old female presenting with abdominal chronic pain. Incidental diagnosis of a pedunculated hepatic hemangioma was suggested by ultrasonography confirmed by typical imaging features on computed tomography. Dynamic contrast- enhanced computed tomography and MR scan are relevant to approach the diagnosis of hemangioma, showing its origin from the liver edge and typical radiological features Surgical removal of the mass was performed to prevent volvulus along the pedicle. Cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) frequently leads to ventricular tachycardia (VT), which is often refractory to antiarrhythmic and/or immunosuppressive medications and requires catheter ablation. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the role of catheter ablation in patients with refractory VT undergoing catheter ablation. We searched PubMed, Embase, and Scopus databases from their inception to December 31, 2021 with search terms "cardiac sarcoidosis" AND "electrophysiological studies OR ablation." Fifteen studies were ultimately included for evaluation. Patient demographics, VT mapping, and acute and long-term procedural outcomes were extracted. A total of 15 studies were included in our meta-analysis, with a total of 401 patients, of whom 66% were male, with ages ranging from 39 to 64 years. A total of 95% of patients were on antiarrhythmics and 79% of patients were on immunosuppressants. Left ventricular ejection fraction ranged from 35% to 49% and procedure duration ranged from 269 to 462 minutes. Ablation was reported using both irrigated and nonirrigated catheter tips. A total of 25% of patients (84/339) underwent repeat ablation. Acute procedural success was achieved in 57% (161/285). Procedure complications occurred in 5.7% (17/297) procedures. VT recurrence after first ablation was 55% (confidence interval 48% to 63%, 213/401); VT recurrence after multiple ablations was 37% (81/220). The composite end point of death, heart transplant, and left ventricular assist device implantation was 21% (confidence interval 14% to 30%, 55/297). In conclusion, catheter ablation is a useful modality in patients with CS with refractory VT. Background: PCSK9 modulates the uptake of circulating lipids through a range of receptors, including the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) and CD36. In the kidney, CD36 is known to contribute to renal injury through pro-inflammatory and -fibrotic pathways. In this study, we sought to investigate the role of PCSK9 in modulating renal lipid accumulation and injury through CD36 using a high fat diet (HFD)-induced murine model., Methods: The effect of PCSK9 on the expression of CD36 and intracellular accumulation of lipid was examined in cultured renal cells and in the kidneys of male C57BL/6J mice. The effect of these findings was subsequently explored in a model of HFD-induced renal injury in Pcsk9 -/- and Pcsk9 +/+ littermate control mice on a C57BL/6J background., Results: In the absence of PCSK9, we observed heightened CD36 expression levels, which increased free fatty acid (FFA) uptake in cultured renal tubular cells. As a result, PCSK9 deficiency was associated with an increase in long-chain saturated FFA-induced ER stress. Consistent with these observations, Pcsk9 -/- mice fed a HFD displayed elevated ER stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and renal injury relative to HFD-fed control mice. In contrast to Pcsk9 -/- mice, pretreatment of WT C57BL/6J mice with evolocumab, an anti-PCSK9 monoclonal antibody (mAb) that binds to and inhibits the function of circulating PCSK9, protected against HFD-induced renal injury in association with reducing cell surface CD36 expression on renal epithelia., Conclusions: We report that circulating PCSK9 modulates renal lipid uptake in a manner dependent on renal CD36. In the context of increased dietary fat consumption, the absence of circulating PCSK9 may promote renal lipid accumulation and subsequent renal injury. However, although the administration of evolocumab blocks the interaction of PCSK9 with the LDLR, this evolocumab/PCSK9 complex can still bind CD36, thereby protecting against HFD-induced renal lipotoxicity., Competing Interests: R.C. Global land-use changes and rapid infrastructure development necessitate identification and conservation of wildlife corridors. Connectivity through corridors is shaped by species' structural, ecological and behavioral constraints. In multi-use landscapes, species' interactions with humans could additionally influence connectivity. Using the tiger Panthera tigris as a case study, we make simultaneous assessments of potential connectivity, habitat use and examine their links with the species' negative interactions with humans in central India. We assessed potential connectivity across 10, 000 sq. km of the Kanha-Pench forest corridor using graph-theoretic methods. Combining indirect sign surveys and occupancy models, we examined habitat use, and evaluated its congruence with potential connectivity. Next, we estimated spatial probabilities of livestock depredation through application of multi-state occupancy models to interview-based survey data from local residents. Habitat use by tigers was negatively associated with forest fragmentation and anthropogenic disturbance. Livestock depredation was positively associated with size of settlements and areas most frequented by tigers, and negatively with anthropogenic disturbance within forests. We found high congruence between connectivity and habitat use (r = 0.80); but the strong correlation did not hold in areas with very high levels of livestock depredation levels. Our results indicate that when areas of high use by tigers are constrained by limited connectivity, there are higher chances of human-tiger conflict, and these areas may be ecological traps for the species. Interactions with humans can be crucial in mediating connectivity for large carnivores in shared habitats. Our findings present an opportunity to consolidate areas where carnivore conservation and local livelihood needs can be balanced. Background: The utility of an electrophysiologic study (EPS) in the risk stratification of cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) patients is not clear. We conducted a systemic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the utility of EPS in the risk stratification of CS patients., Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, and Scopus databases from their inception to 12/4/2020 with search terms "Cardiac sarcoidosis" And "Electrophysiological studies OR ablation". The first and second authors reviewed all the studies. We extracted the data of positive and negative EPS, and outcomes defined as ventricular arrhythmias, implantable cardioverter defibrillator therapy, death, left ventricular assist device placement, or heart transplantation. Risk of bias assessment was done by the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 tool. Subgroup analysis of patients with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) >35%, and probable CS, no prior ventricular tachycardia (VT) and LVEF >35% were performed., Results: We found 544 articles after removing duplicates. A total of 52 full articles were reviewed, and eight studies were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled sensitivity and specificity (95% confidence interval) of EPS in predicting clinical outcomes were 0.70 (0.51-0.85) and 0.93 (0.85-0.97), respectively. Subgroup analysis of patients with LVEF >35% resulted in pooled sensitivity of 0.63 (0.29-0.88) and pooled specificity of 0.97 (0.92-0.99), and subgroup analysis of patients with probable CS, no prior VT, and LVEF >35% resulted in pooled sensitivity of 0.71 (0.33-0.93) and pooled specificity of 0.96 (0.88-0.99) in predicting adverse clinical outcomes., Conclusions: EPS is an effective risk stratification tool in patients with CS across all subgroups with high sensitivity and specificity., (Copyright © 2021 Elsevier B.V. In a time of climate change, critically contributed by the increased global energy consumption, energy efficiency comes out as a critical factor in achieving sustainable growth for the countries. Given the fast economic advancement in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) countries that have played a vital role in the global economy, energy usage, and climate governance, this study investigates the role of energy efficiency on the environmental quality of these countries. We proxy environmental quality with CO 2 emissions, incorporate renewable energy in our models, and estimate the relationship with a long-panel data of 29 years (1990-2018). Our dynamic heterogeneous panel model findings confirm that energy efficiency significantly reduces CO 2 emissions or improves environmental quality in the long run and the short run. Besides, we find that renewable energy has a crucial role in enhancing environmental quality in the long run with the negative impact of economic growth activities. Our findings contribute to the literature in a novel way facilitating the comprehension of the role of energy efficiency using a wide range of sophisticated techniques, thus providing robust results. For the policymakers, we humbly advocate strategies for the clean and sustainable economic transition based on our findings which has notable implications for the BRICS, other developing economies, and the world as a whole., (© 2021. The evolution and diversification of ancient megathermal angiosperm lineages with Africa-India origins in Asian tropical forests is poorly understood because of the lack of reliable fossils. Our palaeobiogeographical analysis of pollen fossils from Africa and India combined with molecular data and fossil amber records suggest a tropical-African origin of Dipterocarpaceae during the mid-Cretaceous and its dispersal to India during the Late Maastrichtian and Paleocene, leading to range expansion of aseasonal dipterocarps on the Indian Plate. The India-Asia collision further facilitated the dispersal of dipterocarps from India to similar climatic zones in Southeast Asia, which supports their out-of-India migration. The dispersal pathway suggested for Dipterocarpaceae may provide a framework for an alternative biogeographic hypothesis for several megathermal angiosperm families that are presently widely distributed in Southeast Asia.

Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is a standard, safe and efficient method for removing large renal calculi. This pathology is associated with a risk of life-threatening Iatrogenic Renal Vascular Injuries, such as pseudoaneurysm (1%-3%). We report the case of a 49 old year male patient with Hematuria post PCNL for renal calculi. Computed tomography renal angiography was indicated which showed a pseudoaneurysm in the lower pole of the left kidney confirmed by digital subtraction angiography. Super selective endovascular embolization was successfully performed with conservation of the left-over vascularization of the kidney. No postoperative complications were seen.
