Abstract

Consider the equation \begin{equation*} -\Delta_p u =\lambda |u|^{p-2}u+\mu|u|^{q-2}u+|u|^{p^\ast-2}u\ \ {\rm in}\ \R^N \end{equation*} under the normalized constraint $$\int_{ \R^N}|u|^p=c^p,$$ where $-\Delta_pu={\rm div} (|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)$, $10$ and $\lambda\in\R$. In the purely $L^p$-subcritical case, we obtain the existence of ground state solution by virtue of truncation technique, and obtain multiplicity of normalized solutions. In the purely $L^p$-critical and supercritical case, we drive the existence of positive ground state solution, respectively. Finally, we investigate the asymptotic behavior of ground state solutions obtained above as $\mu\to0^+$.

Abstract

Graph Contrastive Learning (GCL) is an effective way to learn generalized graph representations in a self-supervised manner, and has grown rapidly in recent years. However, the underlying community semantics has not been well explored by most previous GCL methods. Research that attempts to leverage communities in GCL regards them as having the same influence on the graph, leading to extra representation errors. To tackle this issue, we define ''community strength'' to measure the difference of influence among communities. Under this premise, we propose a Community-Strength-enhanced Graph Contrastive Learning (CSGCL) framework to preserve community strength throughout the learning process. Firstly, we present two novel graph augmentation methods, Communal Attribute Voting (CAV) and Communal Edge Dropping (CED), where the perturbations of node attributes and edges are guided by community strength. Secondly, we propose a dynamic ''Team-up'' contrastive learning scheme, where community strength is used to progressively fine-tune the contrastive objective. We report extensive experiment results on three downstream tasks: node classification, node clustering, and link prediction. CSGCL achieves state-of-the-art performance compared with other GCL methods, validating that community strength brings effectiveness and generality to graph representations. 345. Novel generation method of tooth surface points for variable transmission ratio gears

Abstract

Variable transmission ratio gears have shown considerable potential as key components of variable speed transmission steering boxes that balance steering portability and sensitivity. The objective of this study is to develop a novel method for designing variable transmission ratio tooth surfaces to circumvent the shortcomings of the meshing theory method. The involute rack of the variable transmission ratio pinion-and-rack pair is considered as a set of countless and infinitely close transverse sections, each of which is referred to as a gear element. Assuming evenly distributed circles in the physical domain of the variable transmission ratio tooth surfaces of the pinion, the problem of generating a tooth surface point is transformed into solving the specific geometric feature intersection point of each circle and corresponding gear element during variable transmission ratio meshing. Thereafter, a mathematical model and algorithm are developed to generate tooth surface points in an approximately even pattern. The normal deviations of the gear-element–generated tooth surface points and the corresponding tooth surface points calculated using meshing theory show that the proposed design method has a sufficiently high accuracy. Finite element models are employed analyzing the contact pattern, contact stress, bending stress, and transmission ratio error. The results indicate that the layout of approximately even tooth surface points using the gear element method is beneficial for improving the fitting precision of tooth surfaces and reducing the contact stress and transmission ratio error. Further, the same derived law of the flank and fillet tooth surfaces is conducive to the continuity of the tooth surfaces, which contributes toward reducing the bending stress. Finally, a prototype is manufactured via CNC end milling. The major contributions lie in a robust and efficient modeling method for variable transmission ratio tooth surfaces, which combined forms a solid foundation for their application.

347. The Unique Impact of Commuting Time, Quality, and Predictability on Worker Well-Being and Performance

Abstract

Navigating the complexities of the daily commute, this research explores the relationship between commuting characteristics and their impact on worker well-being and performance. Through two studies, we dissect the commuting experience, examining the influence of commute time, quality, and predictability on worker wellbeing and work outcomes. This research addresses long-standing questions in the field, such as the link between commute time and well-being and the quest for an optimal commute time. It also uncovers fresh insights by simultaneously scrutinizing multiple commuting characteristics. Drawing on resource and positive psychology theories, we hypothesize that these commuting characteristics independently and uniquely shape worker well-being and outcomes. Contrary to popular belief, we found that commute time had little bearing on worker well-being and work outcomes. Instead, our findings reveal that commute quality stands out as the sole commuting characteristic that uniquely influences worker wellbeing. Moreover, our second study unveils that the commuting experience can shape certain work outcomes, such as job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behaviors, while leaving others, like task performance, untouched. Interestingly, commute predictability did not significantly influence well-being or work outcomes when considering commute quality. This work responds to the call for a more nuanced understanding of commute spillover effects and paves the way for future research. It underscores the importance of the commuting experience, shedding light on its far-reaching implications for worker wellbeing, performance, and, ultimately, organizational success. This research not only answers existing questions but also opens new avenues for exploring the impact of commuting on work and life.
