Abstract

A methodology for pricing interest rate contingent claims, the arbitrage-free interest rate movements model, is developed. Interest rate contingent claims, such as interest rate options, floating rate notes and callable bonds, are characterized by finite lives and prices that are dependent on term structure movements. As opposed to earlier pricing models in which the term structure and contingent claims are developed from an equilibrium context, a model is developed in which the term structure is taken as given, and feasible stochastic term structure movements that do not allow arbitrage profits are derived.

Double-cage motors are typically employed in applications that require loaded starts. This makes the outer cage vulnerable to fatigue failure since it must withstand the high starting current and long startup time frequently. However, there are only a few publications that investigate detection techniques specifically for double-cage motors. In this paper, considering that the influence of the faulty outer cage is strong at startup due to the large outer-cage current, detection of outer-cage faults under the startup transient is investigated. A discrete-wavelet-transform-based method is proposed as a viable solution to the detection of outer-cage faults for double-cage motors. An experimental study on fabricated copper double-cage induction motors shows that the proposed method provides sensitive and reliable detection of double-cage rotor faults compared to FFT.

Abstract

This work proposes a method to model the non-elastic components in the fabric stretch deformation in the context of physically based fabric simulator. This paper finds that the above problem can be made tractable if we decompose the stretch deformation into the immediate elastic, viscoelastic, and plastic components. A non-trivial job is the decomposition of the deformation itself. For the purpose of the simulator development, the decomposition must be possible at any stage of deformation and any occurrence of loading and unloading. Based on the observations of various constant force creep measurements, this paper makes an assumption that, within a particular fabric, the viscoelastic and plastic components are proportional to each other and their ratio is invariant over time. Experimental results produced with the proposed method match with general expectations, and show that the method can represent the non-elastic stretch deformation for arbitrary time-varying force.
