Cloud computing is a paradigm that enables instant access to multiple resources of Information technology through its models Software as a Service (Saas), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a Service (Iaas). Service Level Agreement (SLA) is a document that comprises a description of the service, service level parameters, guarantees, and actions for all cases approved. The SLA is very significant as a control among consumer and provider for any violation for the agreement. To overcome the various problems that arise in the cloud, there exist a large number of SLA algorithms that help improve the various cloud parameters challenges. The aim of this paper is to review different SLA algorithms proposed by various researchers. We discuss about the various challenges in which the mentioned algorithms act in their improvement. In this paper we discuss the advantages and limitations of current algorithms with the help of a table. Then we propose our possible future work and at the end we summarize and provide conclusion. Internship Report presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence Nowadays every enterprise wants to be competitive. In the last decade, the data volumes are increased dramatically. As each year data in the market increases, the ability to extract, analyze and manage the data become the backbone condition for the organization to be competitive. In this condition, organizations need to adapt their technologies to the new business reality in order to be competitive and provide new solutions that meet new requests. Business Intelligence by the main definition is the ability to extract analyze and manage the data through which an organization gain a competitive advantage. Before using this approach, it’s important to decide on which computing system it will base on, considering the volume of data, business context of the organization and technologies requirements of the market. In the last 10 years, the popularity of cloud computing increased and divided the computing Systems into On-Premises and cloud. The cloud benefits are based on providing scalability, availability and fewer costs. On another hand, traditional On-Premises provides independence of software configuration, control over data and high security. The final decision as to which computing paradigm to follow in the organization it’s not an easy task as well as depends on the business context of the organization, and the characteristics of the performance of the current On-Premises systems in business processes. In this case, Business Intelligence functions and requires in-depth analysis in order to understand if cloud computing technologies could better perform in those processes than traditional systems. The objective of this internship is to conduct a comparative study between 2 computing systems in Business Intelligence routine functions. The study will compare the On-Premises Business Intelligence Based on Oracle Architecture with Cloud Business Intelligence based on Google Cloud Services. A comparative study will be conducted through participation in activities and projects in the Business Intelligence department, of a company that develops software digital solutions to serve the telecommunications market for 12 months, as an internship student in the 2nd year of a master’s degree in Information Management, with a specialization in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence at Nova Information Management School (NOVA IMS).

In order to optimize the performance of user services in IaaS,the task scheduling algorithm for IaaS based on signal-driven is proposed,by which CS(control subsystem) and NS(inquiry nodes subsystem) based on the structural characteristics of the IaaS is established, and the DAG scheduling model based on the structural characteristics of the inquiry task is created. Then the conversion mechanism for the task partitions is created, constructing the signal communication mechanism for CS and NS,changing the status of the task partitions by signal-driven between the CS and NS,completing the task partitions allocation by POSS (parallel optimization selective strategy) in the scheduling time. This algorithm with low complexity is compatible with the distributed architecture of IaaS,because of utilizing dual system control mode. The effectiveness and practicality of this algorithm is verified by experiment.

The adoption of embedded systems, mobile devices and other smart devices keeps rising globally, and the scope of their involvement broadens, for instance, in smart city-like scenarios. In light of this, a pressing need emerges to tame such complexity and reuse as much tooling as possible without resorting to vertical ad hoc solutions, while at the same time taking into account valid options with regard to infrastructure management and other more advanced functionalities. Existing solutions mainly focus on core mechanisms and do not allow one to scale by leveraging infrastructure or adapt to a variety of scenarios, especially if actuators are involved in the loop. A new, more flexible, cloud-based approach, able to provide device-focused workflows, is required. In this sense, a widely-used and competitive framework for infrastructure as a service, such as OpenStack, with its breadth in terms of feature coverage and expanded scope, looks to fit the bill, replacing current application-specific approaches with an innovative application-agnostic one. This work thus describes the rationale, efforts and results so far achieved for an integration of IoT paradigms and resource ecosystems with such a kind of cloud-oriented device-centric environment, by focusing on a smart city scenario, namely a park smart lighting example, and featuring data collection, data visualization, event detection and coordinated reaction, as example use cases of such integration.

The complexity of data resulting from business process is becoming overwhelming for the systems that don't use shared resources. Many aspects of the business process must be recorded and analysed in a short period of time with no errors at all. In order to obtain these results, so that management and other departments know what their next decision/job will be, there must be a continuous exchange and processing of information. "Cloud Computing" is the solution to overcome the problem of processing large amounts of data. By using this technology organizations have the benefit of using shared resources from various systems that are able to face large amount of data processing. This benefits does not only resume to a high performance system but also the costs of using such architecture are much lower.

Cloud computing is the provision of IT resources (IaaS) on-demand using a pay as you go model over the internet. It is a broad and deep platform that helps customers builds sophisticated, scalable applications. To get the full benefits, research on a wide range of topics is needed. While resource over-provisioning can cost users more than necessary, resource under provisioning hurts the application performance. The cost effectiveness of cloud computing highly depends on how well the customer can optimize the cost of renting resources (VMs) from cloud providers. The issue of resource provisioning optimization from cloud-consumer potential is a complicated optimization issue, which includes much uncertainty parameters. There is a much research avenue available for solving this problem as it is in the real-world. Here, in this paper we provide details about various optimization techniques for resource provisioning. Big data and cloud are the common keystones of this data science era. The various social data contributes to the overall data traffic of the universe. The data management policies have gained much interest and research community is moving towards it. Cloud storage is one of such methodology used to manage big data elements. Due to centralized issues in job scheduling, the VMs are used to schedule the jobs. Waiting for service reply from a specific VM or delivering to a mass community from a far apart VM improves the cost of data traffic and completion time. We have proposed LoSM and GLoSM to satisfy the service request from 'n' number of hosts with respect to proximity and service activity. The test results from CloudSim and HDFS show that the proposed system outperforms with minimal completion time, reduced data traffic and less energy consumption. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cloud computing has been empowered with the introduction of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) which enabled dynamic controllability of cloud network infrastructure. Despite the increasing popularity of studies for joint resource optimization in the cloud environment with SDN technology, the realization is still limited for developing integrated management platform providing a simultaneous controllability of computing and networking infrastructures. In this paper, we propose SDCon, a practical platform developed on OpenStack and OpenDaylight to provide integrated manageability for both resources in cloud infrastructure. The platform can perform VM placement and migration, network flow scheduling and bandwidth allocation, real-time monitoring of computing and networking resources, and measuring power usage of the infrastructure with a single platform. We also propose a network topology aware VM placement algorithm for heterogeneous resource configuration (TOPO-Het) that consolidates the connected VMs into closely connected compute nodes to reduce the overall network traffic. The proposed algorithm is evaluated on SDCon and compared with the results from the state-of-the-art baselines. Results of the empirical evaluation with Wikipedia application show that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the response time while reducing the total network traffic. It also shows the effectiveness of SDCon to manage both resources simultaneously. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Highlights • New, cloud independent deployment method and cloud orchestrator. • New way of establishing complex virtual infrastructures and docker clusters over hybrid clouds. • Investigating the use of VPN technology for hybrid clouds. • Performance measurements to find the most optimal encryption method and MTU value for VPNs over hybrid clouds. Abstract The paper introduces a new method of deploying complex infrastructures in hybrid clouds. The new method is based on a new cloud orchestrator, called Occopus that enables cloud independent infrastructure deployment at user level. Occopus applies a plugin based cloud access architecture. As a result, porting infrastructure among different kind of clouds or deploying an infrastructure on top of a hybrid cloud including private and public (commercial) clouds becomes straightforward. Occopus supports all the major cloud technologies and protocols like OpenStack, OpenNebula, OCCI, Amazon EC2 or CloudSigma. The paper also shows how to apply Occopus in order to deploy a Docker Swarm cluster on the top of hybrid clouds. As a concrete example it shows the deployment on a hybrid cloud system containing OpenStack, Amazon and CloudSigma clouds as components. Using hybrid clouds raises security and communication performance issues that are also covered and investigated in the paper. The technology described in the paper is intensively used in the EU H2020 project COLA for more than 20 commercial applications and on MTA Cloud that is the cloud of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences where more than 40 academic projects run. In this paper, we propose a new class of service called server migration service (SMS) to augment the existing IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service). SMS allows servers (server-side processes of a network application) to dynamically and automatically migrate as their clients (client-side processes of a network application) change their locations in order to reduce the total monetary penalty that the SMS provider pays to its SMS subscribers when failing to provide them with the guaranteed level of QoS. In this paper, we consider the monetary impact that arises from QoS degradation due to server migration and build an integer programming model to determine when and to which location servers should migrate to minimize the total monetary penalty incurred by the SMS provider. Numerical examples show that SMS achieves up to 96% lower total monetary penalty compared to that without server migration. Numerical examples also show that the integer programming model developed in this paper requires reasonable computation time under realistic parameter settings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Cloud Computing has revolutionized the software, platform and infrastructure provisioning. Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) providers offer on-demand and configurable Virtual Machine (VMs) to tenants of cloud computing services. A key consolidation force that widespread IaaS deployment is the use of pay-as-you-go and pay-as-you-use cost models. In these models, a service price can be composed of two dimensions: the individual consumption, and a proportional value charged for service maintenance. A common practice for public providers is to dilute both capital and operational costs on predefined pricing sheets. In this context, we propose PSVE (Proportional-Shared Virtual Energy), a cost model for IaaS providers based on CPU energy consumption. Aligned with traditional commodity prices, PSVE is composed of two key elements: an individualized cost accounted from CPU usage of VMs (e.g., processing and networking), and a shared cost from common hypervisor management operations, proportionally distributed among VMs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
With the emergence of big data computing and analysis, cloud computing services become more and more popular, which has recently drawn researchers’ great attentions to develop various new applications and mechanisms. In this paper, we consider the on-demand mechanism design in the infrastructure as a service (IaaS), including resource allocation and pricing issues under dynamic scenarios. Most of existing works on mechanism design assumed static and independent individual utility, while the cloud computing services are provided in a dynamic environment. To solve such problems, we start with analyzing the Google cluster-usage dataset to draw the statistical and stochastic characteristics of the IaaS consumers and providers. Based on the characteristics mined from real data, we propose a stochastic matching algorithm with Markov Decision Process (MDP), which aims at optimizing the long-term system efficiency, with its online version using Q-learning method to address the imperfect model estimation problem. We further design an efficient (EF), incentive compatible (IC), individual rational (IR) auction mechanism, which is an extension of traditional Vickrey-Clarke-Groves (VCG) mechanism. The proposed mechanism is studied under two application scenario: quality sensitive services, where unilateral MDP-VCG auction is implemented; and quality insensitive services, where MDP-VCG double auction is implemented. To verify the performance of our proposed mechanism, we conduct experiment using the Google dataset and show that the proposed MDP-based VCG auction mechanism can achieve EF, IC and IR properties simultaneously. Information technology infrastructure procurement is a focal issue for Malaysia Medium Size Enterprises confronting shortage asset amid economic turbulence. In this paper, we propose a financially savvy asset pooling shared service that improves on-request benefit yet dependable as the enterprise revolves. Further, we look at the appropriateness of legacy hypotheses for the commodity of IT infrastructure and disruptive innovation. Our provocation opens up a key investment association between the proposed integrated IT infrastructure benefits with the key enterprise factors in monetarily feasible. The exploration was completed by means of a survey with data collected from 100 respondents in Peninsular Malaysia and test-retest again the validity of the past 122 respondents for data consistency. The findings posits that despite the fact that innovation highlights have its own points of interest, however, un-optimized and un-reusabilities of existing desktop are two critical determinants of infrastructure investment. It additionally rationalized that wasteful spending is a basic determinant of investment, giving the huge impact to over-speculation and over-spending plan. The findings drive us to propose an organic flexibility infrastructure solution that will expand or recoil with the business execution prompting the discoveries for Exostructure as a Service framework as a Technology Management manual. Cloud computing increases the expertise, scalability and efficiency of the company. However, new security issues arise. Indeed, traditional security solutions are becoming obsolete because the majority of the traffic of virtual networks does not necessarily leave the physical server, and therefore does not allow permanent control. In order to overcome these limitations, this article presents the integration of a mobile agent-based intrusion detection system in a datacenter to provide a security solution that detects known and unknown attacks in a cloud environment. IaaS model is arguably the most fundamental service delivery model in cloud computing. It holds a wide variety of virtualized IT resources and furnished as on-demand services. Platform virtualization represents the quintessence of this model whereby user has the ability to provision and manage its own environment into remote physical servers (CPU, storage servers) within Internet. However, users are still reluctant to migrate its own private data into cloud servers because of security, which remains the most inhibitor of cloud computing’s growth. In this paper, we thoroughly explore the security issues within IaaS model components on behalf CSP and user security behaviors. Furthermore, the CSA Top 12 threats that hamper the flexibility and scalability of IaaS model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We propose a server selection, configuration, reconfiguration and automatic performance verification technology to meet user functional and performance requirements on various types of cloud compute servers. Various servers mean there are not only virtual machines on normal CPU servers but also container or baremetal servers on strong graphic processing unit (GPU) servers or field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) with a configuration that accelerates specified computation. Early cloud systems are composed of many PC-like servers, and virtual machines on these severs use distributed processing technology to achieve high computational performance. However, recent cloud systems change to make the best use of advances in hardware power. It is well known that baremetal and container performances are better than virtual machines performances. And dedicated processing servers, such as strong GPU servers for graphics processing, and FPGA servers for specified computation, have increased. Our objective for this study was to enable cloud providers to provision compute resources on appropriate hardware based on user requirements, so that users can benefit from high performance of their applications easily. Our proposed technology select appropriate servers for user compute resources from various types of hardware, such as GPUs and FPGAs, or set appropriate configurations or reconfigurations of FPGAs to use hardware power. Furthermore, our technology automatically verifies the performances of provisioned systems. We measured provisioning and automatic performance verification times to show the effectiveness of our technology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In Cloud computing deployments, specifically in the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) model, networking is one of the core enabling facilities provided for the users. The IaaS approach ensures significant flexibility and manageability, since the networking resources and topologies are entirely under users’ control. In this context, considerable efforts have been devoted to promoting the Cloud paradigm as a suitable solution for managing IoT environments. Deep and genuine integration between the two ecosystems, Cloud and IoT, may only be attainable at the IaaS level. In light of extending the IoT domain capabilities’ with Cloud-based mechanisms akin to the IaaS Cloud model, network virtualization is a fundamental enabler of infrastructure-oriented IoT deployments. Indeed, an IoT deployment without networking resilience and adaptability makes it unsuitable to meet user-level demands and services’ requirements. Such a limitation makes the IoT-based services adopted in very specific and statically defined scenarios, thus leading to limited plurality and diversity of use cases. This article presents a Cloud-based approach for network virtualization in an IoT context using the de-facto standard IaaS middleware, OpenStack, and its networking subsystem, Neutron. OpenStack is being extended to enable the instantiation of virtual/overlay networks between Cloud-based instances (e.g., virtual machines, containers, and bare metal servers) and/or geographically distributed IoT nodes deployed at the network edge.

Today, the growth of technology is very fast and a lot of technology that can facilitate users in helping their activity is made. A technology need a server to store both systems and users data. More users needed more servers to store user data. The server room became full and needed the extra space so that it required high cost to build the server and the server space itself. The purpose of this research is to create an IaaS based server virtualization that is connected to a router, switch, virtual client and administrator with VirtualBox application. The purpose of this research can be achieved by designing an appropriate research’s methodology. There are 5 stages of implementation/methodology in building virtualization server at this research which are the system definition, requirements specification, system configuration, system testing, and system analysis. First, phase of the definition system is by describing a system of early identification, system requirements and network topology on the implemented system. The second phase is the specification requirements to determine specifications hardware and software. The hardware consists of a computer with resources 8GB RAM and AMD Phenom II X6 as a processor. The software consists of VirtualBox and operating systems. The third stage is the system configuration to declare the source code in application on each server, routers and switches to perform the function of each device. The final stage is system testing and system analysis by checking the system is ready to use and works the best. Results in this research show IaaS-based server virtualization can be connected to display a web page on all clients through virtual switches and routers on a computer.

Zero Trust is a concept whose motto is never trust, always verify. This sentence proves that Zero Trust principle has been used for every component of cloud, to check applications, services, devices, data and network. In this way it is possible to protect every cloud component, including information which is stored in cloud. Zero Trust model changes former understanding of cloud security and it considers that malicious attacker's lateral movement through the network is possible. This is the reason why it is necessary to circurarly check dedicated rights for every system component, by using authentication, verification and authorization.
