The article reports that American policy should continue to seek in persuading the government of Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to surrender its nuclear weapons and its capacity in producing weapons grade fissionable material. It states that this approach may not be achievable due to the DPRK leadership which is no more willing in giving up this option or due to its price. It mentions that the approach that U.S. has attempted thus far in Republican and Democratic administrations has attained a dead end, in which the approach had elements such negotiation of a common understanding of the resultant of the process including an end to hostile intent and a de-nuclearized peninsula. It adds that this approach came close and made sense to reaching a final agreement.
