By making use of a Godel-type relabeling of quantum states we show that spin coherent states play a fundamental role in number theory. We generalize the representation of the Mobius function obtained in Spector (1990 Commun. Math. Phys. 127 239) by giving a quantum mechanical interpretation of a generalization of the Mobius function: the Fleck function. We also show that inversion convolution theorem for the Liouville function and some key relations giving the Mobius inversion theorem can be understood from the orthogonality properties of the spin coherent states. Our results show a fruitful interplay of quantum mechanics and number theory.

The potential utility of room temperature ionic liquids as electrolytes in current electrochemical applications has been explored. Hence, the electrochemical behavior of [Ni(tmc)]Br2 complex at a glassy carbon electrode in the absence or in the presence of unsaturated halides in the ionic liquids, 1-ethyl-3- methylimidazolium ethylsulfate, [C2mim][C2SO4] and N,N,Ntrimethyl- N-(2-hydroxyethyl) ammonium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, [N1 1 1 2(OH)][NTf2], has been examined by cyclic voltammetry. It was observed that [Ni(tmc)]2+ complex is reduced in a reversible one-electron step and the electrogenerated [Ni(tmc)]+ complex catalytically reduces the carbon-halogen bond of unsaturated halides. The potencial use of natural ionic conducting polymer matrixes was also investigated. Samples of natural macromolecules-based electrolytes with the ionic liquid 1-ethyl- 3-methylimidazolium ethylsulfate, [C2mim][C2SO4], were prepared and characterized. O objetivo desse estudo é analisar a Lei nº 1.659/96, que institui a política ambiental no município de Araguaína, Tocantins, buscando compreender o funcionamento de alguns discursos materializados no texto da referida lei. Utilizando como suporte a Análise de Discurso francesa, percebe-se que, para a Lei, os responsáveis pela degradação e pela preservação ambiental são aqueles que mantêm relações com o sistema municipal de educação, com os meios de comunicação e as entidades e associações ambientalistas, isentando-se os demais grupos do ônus. Ao definir a composição do Conselho administrativo com representações governamentais e de algumas categorias profissionais, a Lei determina quem de fato se apropriará do discurso ambientalista e assegura os interesses dos grupos dominantes. The aim of this study is to analyze Law no. 1659/96 on the establishment of environmental policy in the municipality of Araguaina, Tocantins, trying to understand the functioning of some speeches materialized in the text of the law. Using as support for French Discourse Analysis, we see that for the law, the responsible for the degradation and environmental preservation are those who maintain relations with the municipal education, with the media and the authorities and environmental associations, freeing up the other groups of the burden. By defining the composition of the administrative offices of government and some professions, the law determines who actually will appropriate environmental discourse and ensures the interests of dominant groups.

Foi proposto um modelo para descrever a chuva diária de Piracicaba-SP e de Pelotas-RS em termos da sua quantidade e da ocorrência de dias sem ou com chuva e de dias secos. Dias secos foram definidos como aqueles em que o armazenamento de água no solo foi menor ou igual a um valor crítico, condicionado pela demanda atmosférica. Para modelar a ocorrência de dias com chuva, sem chuva e secos foram testadas as seguintes funções de distribuição de probabilidade: geométrica , logarítmica e binomal negativa truncada. Demonstrou-se que, para os dois locais, tanto a ocorrência de dias sem chuva quanto as de dias chuvosos e secos, em termos das suas sequências iniciadas nos 31 dias seguintes a determinada data, podem ser satisfatoriamente representadas pela distribuição binomial negativa truncada cujos parâmetros variam ao longo do ano segundo funções periódicas com dois hormônicos. A quantidade de chuva nos dias com chuva, quando quantidade de chuva nos dias com chuva, quando considerados os seus valores diários reunidos num conjunto de 31 dias a partir de determinada data, foi adequadamente ajustada à distribuição Gama com o seu parâmetro de forma (γ ) permanecendo constante mas o parâmetro de escala (β) apresentando variação periódica que pode ser descrita por uma função com dois harmônicos. A análise dos dados mostrou que as séries de chuva Piracicaba (1917 a 1944 e 1945 a 1989) e de Pelotas (1895 a 1950 e 1951 a 1989), resultantes da mudança dos postos de observação, são homogêneas. It was proposed a model to describe the daily rainfall at Piracicaba, São Paulo State and Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul State, in terms of its amount and of the occurrence of days without rain or with rain, and of dry days. Dry days was defined as that where soil water storage was less than or equal to a critical value, conditioned by atmospheric demand. In order to model the occurrence of rainy without and dry days the following distribution probability function were tested: geometric, logarithmic and truncated negative binomial. It was shown that, for the two locations both the occurrence of days without rain of rainy and dry days, in terms of their sequences, for 31 days following a given date may well be represented by the truncated negative binomial distribution with its parameters adjusted to a periodic function with the first two harmonics. The amount of rain considered in a group of 31 daily values after a given date, was well describe by the gamma distribuition; the shape parameter ( γ) remaind constant but the scale parameter (β) had a periodic variation which could be represented by a periodic function with two harmonis. Analysis of the data shown that the rainfall series for both Piracicaba (1917 to 1944 and 1945 to 1989) and Pelotas (1985 to 1950 and 1951 to 1989 ) can be considered as homogeneus even with the moving of weather station from the original locations.

We show the existence of all the 36 eightfold way mesons and determine their masses and dispersion curves exactly, from dynamical first principles such as directly from the quark-fluon dynamics. We also give a proof of confinement below the two-meson energy threshold. For this purpose, we consider an imaginary time functional integral representation of a 3+1 dimensional lattice QCD model with Wilson action, SU(3)f global and SU(3)c local symmetries. We work in the strong coupling regime, such that the hopping parameter κ>0 is small and much larger than the plaquette coupling β>1/g02⩾0 (β⪡κ⪡1). In the quantum mechanical physical Hilbert space H, a Feynman-Kac type representation for the two-meson correlation and its spectral representation are used to establish an exact rigorous connection between the complex momentum singularities of the two-meson truncated correlation and the energy-momentum spectrum of the model. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar o uso dos adesivos etil-cianoacrilato e butil-cianoacrilato com o náilon monofilamentar, comparativamente , na síntese da pele de ratos. Trinta e dois ratos foram distribuídos em três grupos: A, B e C. Estes grupos foram divididos em dois subgrupos, para estudo no sétimo e no décimo-quarto dia pós-operatório. Foram efetuadas no abdome do rato, duas incisões longitudinais e paralelas distando cada uma delas um centímetro da linha mediana, sendo uma do lado direito e a outra do lado esquerdo. Em todos os grupos a síntese da incisão do lado direito, foi realizada com pontos separados de náilon 5-zeros, sendo este considerado o grupo controle (C). Nos animais do grupo A, a síntese do lado esquerdo foi realizada com etil-cianoacrilato (Super Bonder) e nos animais do grupo B, a síntese foi realizada com butil-cianoacrilato (Histoacryl). No sétimo e no décimo-quarto dia pós-operatório, o aspecto macroscópico da cicatriz não mostrou diferença significante.No aspecto microscópico.os grupos B e C foram melhores do que o A. Os resultados demonstraram que a síntese com o adesivo sintético é eficaz, mais rápida, indolor e com bons resultados estéticos.Cyanoacrylate derivates have been used as surgical adhesives, like ethyl-cyanoacrylate(Super-Bonder) and buthyl-cyanoacrylate(Histoacryl) for many years.In this study, the histotoxicity and binding ability of Super-Bonder and Histoacryl were compared.32 rats were operated, and distributed in 3 groups :A, B and C. Each group was subdivived in 2 subgroups , to be studied after 7 and 14 days postoperatory .2 longitudinals incisions with 3 centimetre in lenght, were done in each animal. The left incision was sutured with Nylon 5.0 (group C) as controls and the right incision was sutured with ethil-cyanoacrylate (group A) and buthil-cyanoacrylaty (group B). Our results allowed us to clearly study tissue acute inflammation, the presence of dehiscense and fibrosis that eventualy occured. Throughtout the study period, there was no statistical difference in the viability of buthyl-cyanoacrylate and Nylon. Buthyl-cyanoacrylate showed mild acute inflammation, and mild foreign body giant cell reaction, and had minimal histotoxic effect when compared with ethyl-cyanoacrylate. There was non intolerance to the adhesive nor dehiscense. This method is easy and without side effects on the skin.
