Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho foi quantificar as relacoes entre variaveis meteorologicas originais e derivadas e o rendimento de graos da soja. Os dados para essa analise sao oriundos de experimentos conduzidos em cinco localidades do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, periodo 1971/72 a 1983/84. Os resultados mostram que, dentro da faixa recomendada para semeadura, a temperatura nao e fator limitante do rendimento de graos da soja nas principais regioes produtoras do Estado. A variavel original precipitacao esteve fortemente correlacionada com o rendimento de graos apenas no periodo reprodutivo da planta. O indice P/ETo esteve significativamente correlacionado com o rendimento de graos tanto no periodo reprodutivo, como no periodo vegetativo. O índice ET/ETo foi o que apresentou a mais alta associacao com o rendi-mento, o que mostra que essa e a variavel independente mais indicada para inclusao em modelos de relacao climarendimento de graos da soja. As correlacoes confirmam, ainda, que o periodo fenologico da soja mais critico em relacao a agua e o periodo reprodutivo, que, no Estado, corresponde, em media, para os tres grupos de maturacao, ao periodo que vai de meados de janeiro a meados de marco. Abstract

Em Taquari, RS (Lat. 29o48'S, Long. 51°48'W e alt. 76 m), foram avaliadas as alteracoes micrometeorologicas sobre duas comunidades de soja (Glycine max (L.) Merrill), cultivar Bragg, diferenciadas quanto ao tratamento hidrico: irrigada (parcela de 2.500 m2) e nao irrigada (parcela de 2.100 m2). A semeadura foi feita em 21 de novembro de 1985 em linhas espacadas de 0,68 m e populacao de 4 x 105 plantas ha-1. Durante o periodo diurno, a temperatura do ar e o deficit de saturacao do vapor d'agua do ar foram dependentes do balanco de energia da superficie, influenciado principalmente pelo potencial da agua no solo. Em condicao de restricao hidrica, estes apresentaram valores superiores aos obtidos sem restricao hidrica, assim de-terminando uma maior demanda evaporativa da atmosfera junto a comunidade com restricao de suprimento de agua pelo solo. 323. Sedimentology and composition of sands injected during the seismic crisis of May 2012 (Emilia, Italy): clues for source layer identification and liquefaction regime.

Abstract

In May 2012 widespread sand blows formed along buried channels in the eastern sector of the Po Plain (Northern Italy) as a consequence of a series of seismic events with main shocks of Mw 6.1 and 5.9. At San Carlo (Ferrara) a trench dug a few week after the earthquakes exposed sand dikes cutting through an old Reno River channel–levee system that was diverted in the 18th century and was deposited starting from the 14th century (unit A). This sequence overlies a Holocene muddy floodplain deposits and contains scattered sandy channel deposits (unit B) and a Pleistocene channel sand unit (unit C). Sands with inverse and normal grading, concave layering and vertical lamination coexisting along the dikes suggest multiple rhythmic opening and closing of the fractures that were injected and filled by a slurry of sand during the compression pulses, and emptied during the extension phase. The pulse mechanism may have lasted for several minutes and formed well stratified sand volcanoes structures that formed at the top of the fractures. Sands from dikes and from the various units show well defined compositional fields from lithoarenitic to quartz-feldspar-rich compositions. Sands from the old Reno levee and channel fill (unit A) have abundant lithic fragments derived from the erosion of Apennine sedimentary carbonate and terrigenous successions. Composition of the sand filling the dikes show clear affinities with sand layers of the old Reno River channel (Unit A) and clearly differ from any sand from deeper Holocene and Pleistocene layers (Unit B and C), which are richer in quartz and feldspar and poorer in sedimentary lithic fragments. Sorting related to sediment flux variations did not apparently affect the sand composition across the sedimentary structures. Textural and compositional data indicate that the liquefaction processes originated from a relatively shallow source consisting of channel sands located within Unit A at 6.8.to 7.5 m depth. Abstract

Among plants, several groups have toxicities that are dangerous for humans. Plant exposures are indeed one of the most frequent cases reported to poison control centers. A rapid and easy screening test is required for accurate medical treatment. However, it is usually based on the morphological analysis of ingested plant portions that is expensive in terms of time and resources requiring experience in systematic botany which could also be biased by the absence of clear diagnostic traits in stomach contents. In this study, we designed specific primer pairs for the amplification of a sequence-characterized amplified region within standard barcode regions (i.e.,rbcLandtrnH–psbA) to detect toxic plants belonging to the generaAtropaandColchicum. Allied edible species were also included in our data-set to exclude the cross-amplification with the toxic ones when the detection system is applied. Using real-time polymerase chain reaction, we tested the specificity of the selected primer pairs in order to develop a fast and reliable tool to be used in poison centers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

325. Factors controlling the evolution of a wedge-top temperate-type carbonate platform in the Miocene of the northern Apennines (Italy).

Abstract

An integrated study including stratigraphy, composition and biostratigraphy was performed on temperate-type shallow-water carbonates of early middle Miocene age deposited in a wedge-top basin within the Apenninic chain (Romagna–Tuscan area). The succession rests unconformably on the deep-water sediments of allochthonous Ligurian units and is represented by up to 350 m thick carbonates and mixed siliciclastic-carbonate rocks. Two main units are recognized, each characterized by a distinct facies association. The basal unit (upper Burdigalian) consists of rhodalgal rudstones and packstones of shelf environment, dominated by echinoids, bryozoans, coralline algae and benthic foraminifera, deposited in temperate conditions and showing a transgressive pattern. It gradually passes into mixed carbonate-siliciclastic shallow water-facies, (Langhian in age) characterized by an increase in terrigenous components and planktonic and benthic taxa. Sediment starvation during the Langhian is suggested by the occurrence of glaucony-rich packstones with abundant planktonic foraminifera. The succession grades upwards into upper Langhian-lower Serravallian planktonic foraminifera-rich marls. Increasing detrital discharge and water depth up section results in drowning of the carbonate shelf. Debris-flow deposits including material of extraformational origin are intercalated at different levels, in particular from the uplifting south-western margins, close to the Ligurian thrusts. The inception and demise of these temperate rhodalgal-foramol carbonate sediments located in wedge-top Epiligurian basins are primarily controlled by synsedimentary tectonics, which in turn affects relative sea-level rise, and nutrient and detrital input. In particular, tectonics controlled the initial stage of the transgression, determining the configuration of the basin, subdivided in narrow submerged palaeotopographic lows and relatively elevated areas. Synsedimentary tectonics related to the thrust migration was also the main controlling factor in the demise of carbonate sedimentation, through the combined effect of two processes: increasing the subsidence of the basin, and triggering the terrigenous discharge from the erosion of the uplifted Apenninic relieves. Em Taquari, RS (Lat. 29°48'S, Long. 51°59'W, alt. 76 m e tipo climático Cfa, segundo Köppen), foram dimensionados os componentes do balanço de radiação da soja (Glycine max (L.) Merril), cv. Bragg, em condição de ótima disponibilidade hídrica no solo. A semeadura foi feita em 21.11.1985, em linhas com espaçamento de 0,68 m, numa população de 4 x 105 plantas ha-1. A parcela experimental foi de 2.500 m2, sendo as observações obtidas no centro desta área. Semanalmente, em intervalos de 30 min, das 6 às 19 h mediram-se a ra-diação solar global, a radiação de ondas curtas refletida e o saldo de radiação. Neste período foram determinados o índice de área foliar e a fenologia. Os resultados mostram que o albedo diário da soja foi de 0,26 para um índice de área foliar variando de 4,7 a 7,7 (estádios V9 a R6). Verificou-se, também, que o saldo de radiação das 24 horas e o diurno, sobre a cultura da soja, podem ser estimados a partir da radiação solar global ou do saldo de radiação de on-das curtas. Foi realizado um experimento micrometeorológico em Taquari, RS, 1985/86, com o objetivo de avaliar os componentes do balanço de energia em soja, cv. Bragg, em con-dições de irrigação da parcela de (2.500 m2) e não irrigada (2.100 m2). A parcela sem irriga-ção foi submetida a um período de deficiência hídrica do início do ciclo à floração plena. A utilização do saldo de radiação foi diferente entre os tratamentos, sendo influenciada pelo potencial da água no solo e pela demanda evaporativa da atmosfera. O fluxo de calor latente de evaporação representou a maior porção do saldo de radiação, sendo 95% na parcela irriga-da e 78% na parcela não irrigada.
