La comprensión lectora es una de las principales preocupaciones del sistema escolar, dado su impacto en el aprendizaje de las demás áreas escolares. El objetivo de la investigación fue describir la influencia de una estrategia didáctica mediada por juegos digitales y no digitales en el desarrollo de la comprensión lectora a nivel inferencial en estudiantes de quinto grado. La metodología tuvo un enfoque cualitativo, con diseño de investigación-acción. La implementación se realizó con 18 estudiantes, con edades entre 9 y 12 años, de estrato socioeconómico bajo y medio, de una institución pública colombiana ubicada en zona urbana. Las categorías observadas fueron comprensión lectora, motivación, vinculación de los padres, estrategias de juego digital y no digital. Se utilizaron como instrumentos: pruebas pretest y postest de comprensión lectora, RIMMS para la motivación, una guía de observación, entrevista a los padres de familia y un grupo focal. La estrategia didáctica consistió en dos cápsulas educativas, un juego no digital basado en un tablero similar al juego de escaleras y serpientes, otras dos cápsulas educativas y un juego digital en Scratch. Se usó WhatsApp para la comunica-ción con estudiantes y padres. Se obtuvieron mejoras significativas en la comprensión lectora, la motivación mostró niveles mayores en el juego no digital. En conclusión, la estrategia didáctica implementada mejoró significativamente la comprensión lectora, resaltando una mayor motivación hacia el juego no digital, por la implementación de avatares y una mayor participación del entorno familiar.

Glioblastomas with multiple foci at presentation (mGBMs) account for 2–35% of all GBMs. mGBMs have limited existing data and no standardized treatment. This study aims to determine their incidence, demographic and clinical features, outcome, and prognostic factors in terms of overall survival. We performed a monocentric retrospective study, reviewing patients treated at the Istituto Oncologico Veneto. Inclusion criteria were: new diagnosis of GBM and presence of multiple lesions on pre-treatment MRI. ECOG PS was used to evaluate clinical condition, RANO criteria for radiological assessment, and CTCAE v5.0 for treatment-related adverse events. The incidence of newly diagnosed mGBM was 7.2% and the study population consisted of 98 patients. Median age was 63 years, M:F ratio of 1.8:1, and a surgical approach was undertaken in 73 patients (mostly partial resection). MGMT was methylated in 47.5%, and 82 patients received active oncological treatment (65.9% radiotherapy plus temozolomide (RT + TMZ)). The disease control rate with RT + TMZ was 63%. Median OS of the entire study population was 10.2 months (95% CI 6.6–13.8), and median PFS was 4.2 months (95% CI 3.2–5.2). The ECOG PS, the extent of resection, and the RT + TMZ were significant prognostic factors in the univariate analysis for OS, but only the RT + TMZ was a significant independent OS predictor in the multivariate analysis (HR = 3.1, 95% IC 1.3–7.7, p = 0.014). The incidence of mGBM is not rare. RT + TMZ is confirmed to be an independent prognostic factor for survival and a safe and effective treatment. When feasible, RT + TMZ should be considered as a possible first-line treatment. The role of the extent of resection is still unclear.

Abstract Background Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are liquid biopsies that represent micrometastatic disease and may offer unique insights into future recurrences in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Due to CTC rarity and limited stability, no stable CTC-derived xenograft (CDX) models have ever been generated from non-metastatic NSCLC patients directly. Alternative strategies are needed to molecularly characterize CTCs and means of potential future metastases in this potentially curable patient group. Methods Surgically resected NSCLC primary tumor tissues from non-metastatic patients were implanted subcutaneously in immunodeficient mice to establish primary tumor patient-derived xenograft (ptPDX) models. CTCs were isolated as liquid biopsies from the blood of ptPDX mice and re-implanted subcutaneously into naïve immunodeficient mice to generate liquid biopsy CTC-derived xenograft (CDX) tumor models. Single cell RNA sequencing was performed and validated in an external dataset of non-xenografted human NSCLC primary tumor and metastases tissues. Drug response testing in CDX models was performed with standard of care chemotherapy (carboplatin/paclitaxel). Blockade of MYC, which has a known role in drug resistance, was performed with a MYC/MAX dimerization inhibitor (10058-F4). Results Out of ten ptPDX, two (20%) stable liquid biopsy CDX mouse models were generated. Single cell RNA sequencing analysis revealed an additional regenerative alveolar epithelial type II (AT2)-like cell population in CDX tumors that was also identified in non-xenografted NSCLC patients’ metastases tissues. Drug testing using these CDX models revealed different treatment responses to carboplatin/paclitaxel. MYC target genes and c-MYC protein were upregulated in the chemoresistant CDX model, while MYC/MAX dimerization blocking could overcome chemoresistance to carboplatin/paclitaxel. Conclusions To overcome the lack of liquid biopsy CDX models from non-metastatic NSCLC patients, CDX models can be generated with CTCs from ptPDX models that were originally established from patients’ primary tumors. Single cell analyses can identify distinct drug responses and cell heterogeneities in CDX tumors that can be validated in NSCLC metastases tissues. CDX models deserve further development and study to discover personalized strategies against micrometastases in non-metastatic NSCLC patients.

Este artigo objetiva investigar como a inserção da Educação Financeira (EF) na educação básica é tratada pela BNCC. Busca-se fundamentação teórica na área de educação e na Legislação Brasileira para que se explorem os conceitos trazidos pela BNCC. A análise da inserção da EF na BNCC mostra-se importante e necessária considerando o relevante impacto do conhecimento de Educação Financeira para a formação do jovem, para a construção do seu projeto de vida e sua inserção no mundo do trabalho de forma consciente, crítica e cidadã. Dessa forma, para alcançar o objetivo proposto, utiliza-se a análise documental como eixo metodológico. Os resultados indicam que, mesmo a normativa trazendo a Educação Financeira como um tema transversal e de relevância em várias áreas de estudo, ainda não está claro como o assunto pode ser implantado e desenvolvido pelas instituições de ensino.

La Violencia basada en género, ha sido definida por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas como cualquier acto dañino basado en las diferencias de género atribuidas socialmente. Dentro de sus muchas manifestaciones, aquella violencia en su máxima expresión llega hasta el feminicidio; fenómeno que lejos de disminuir, se ha extendido alrededor del mundo. Por otra parte, la inteligencia artificial ha aparecido en la escena de diversos sectores, sin que el ámbito jurídico haya sido la excepción. La conexión entre la violencia basada en género y la Inteligencia artificial se da de la mano de las necesidades crecientes de prevención de la primera, a través por ejemplo de la predicción de niveles de riesgo en la que la segunda ofrece importantes ventajas. Utilizando una metodología cualitativa deductiva con alcance descriptivo exploratorio, en la que se aplican métodos propios del derecho y las ciencias computacionales para analizar fuentes primarias, secundarias y estudio de casos de algoritmos y herramientas de evaluación de riesgo, (sin dejar de lado la referencia a herramientas de predicción tradicionales que no utilizan Inteligencia artificial), se arriba a resultados que apuntan a que los algoritmos y herramientas mencionadas evalúan y ponderan factores situacionales y disparadores, relacionados con el perpetrador, la víctima, y la relación familiar; variando en el valor asignado a cada uno de estos; en cuanto a las críticas se encuentran estandarizadas en la precisión y confiabilidad de la predicción.

The unique properties and performance of plastic materials entail their massive production and use with consequently generation of huge amount of plastic waste, which can cause significant impact on the environment, if not properly managed. Institutional and industrial actions are required to face the ever-increasing plastics demand while making the entire chain more sustainable, from the selection of raw materials to production, use, and final disposal of plastic materials. Here, an overview of plastics properties and applications, as well as main issues related to the plastic waste management is presented along with a discussion on the emerging technologies that have been launched to increase the sustainability of the entire plastics industry. These latter include both recycling processes and the use of renewable raw materials, including waste streams, for the production of biobased and bio-attributed products.

The Astropy Project supports and fosters the development of open-source and openly developed Python packages that provide commonly needed functionality to the astronomical community. A key element of the Astropy Project is the core package astropy, which serves as the foundation for more specialized projects and packages. In this article, we provide an overview of the organization of the Astropy project and summarize key features in the core package, as of the recent major release, version 2.0. We then describe the project infrastructure designed to facilitate and support development for a broader ecosystem of interoperable packages. We conclude with a future outlook of planned new features and directions for the broader Astropy Project.

Toserba Yogya merupakan salah satu perusahaan yang bergerak dibidang ritel yang tersebar di DKI Jakarta, Jawa Barat dan Jawa Tengah. Salah satu cabangnya yang terdapat di Kota Tegal menjadi pusat distribusi di daerah Jawa Tengah. Toserba Yogya Kota Tegal sudah menggunakan SI/TI dalam menunjang kegiatan operasional, namun penerapan SI/TI masih kurang maksimal dan belum terencana dengan matang. Oleh karena itu diperlukan perencanaan strategis SI/TI yang tepat. Perencanaan strategis menggunakan metode pendekatan Enterprise Architecture Planning (EAP) yang menghasilkan arsitektur data, arsitektur aplikasi, arsitektur teknologi dan rencana implementasi perusahaan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan efisiensi kegiatan proses bisnis dan SI/TI serta memberikan kontribusi dalam memberikan solusi terhadap permasalahan yang ada pada Toserba Yogya Kota Tegal. Pemodelan bisnis menggunakan analisis value chain untuk mengidentifikasi rangkaian bisnis aktivitas utama dan aktivitas pendukung dalam Toserba Yogya Kota Tegal. Output yang akan dihasilkan dari penelitian ini merupakan rekomendasi hasil perencanaan strategis sistem informasi yang dapat diterapkan dalam lima tahun kedepan.

Background: Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based analysis represents an evolving medical field. In the last few decades, several studies have reported the diagnostic efficiency of AI applied to Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to early detect liver metastases (LM), mainly from colorectal cancer. Despite the increase in information and the development of different procedures in several radiological fields, an accurate method of predicting LM has not yet been found. This review aims to compare the diagnostic efficiency of different AI methods in the literature according to accuracy, sensibility, precision, and recall to identify early LM. Methods: A narrative review of the literature was conducted on PubMed. A total of 336 studies were screened. Results: We selected 17 studies from 2012 to 2022. In total, 14,475 patients were included, and more than 95% were affected by colorectal cancer. The most frequently used imaging tool to early detect LM was found to be CT (58%), while MRI was used in three cases. Four different AI analyses were used: deep learning, radiomics, machine learning, and fuzzy systems in seven (41.18%), five (29.41%), four (23.53%), and one (5.88%) cases, respectively. Four studies achieved an accuracy of more than 90% after MRI and CT scan acquisition, while just two reported a recall rate ≥90% (one method using MRI and CT and one CT). Conclusions: Routinely acquired radiological images could be used for AI-based analysis to early detect LM. Simultaneous use of radiomics and machine learning analysis applied to MRI or CT images should be an effective method considering the better results achieved in the clinical scenario.

Knowledge about the biogeographic affinities of the world's tropical forests helps to better understand regional differences in forest structure, diversity, composition, and dynamics. Such understanding will enable anticipation of region-specific responses to global environmental change. Modern phylogenies, in combination with broad coverage of species inventory data, now allow for global biogeographic analyses that take species evolutionary distance into account. Here we present a classification of the world's tropical forests based on their phylogenetic similarity. We identify five principal floristic regions and their floristic relationships: (i) Indo-Pacific, (ii) Subtropical, (iii) African, (iv) American, and (v) Dry forests. Our results do not support the traditional neo- versus paleotropical forest division but instead separate the combined American and African forests from their Indo-Pacific counterparts. We also find indications for the existence of a global dry forest region, with representatives in America, Africa, Madagascar, and India. Additionally, a northern-hemisphere Subtropical forest region was identified with representatives in Asia and America, providing support for a link between Asian and American northern-hemisphere forests.

Children spend a large part of their growing years in schools, and as they are more sensitive to some pollutants than adults, it is essential to monitor and maximize the indoor air quality (IAQ) in classrooms. Many schools are located in historic and heritage buildings, and improving the IAQ, preserving the architectural features, poses a great challenge. The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a low-invasiveness, low-cost, smart CO2-based visual alerting systems to manage natural ventilation and improve IAQ in historic school buildings. Indoor and outdoor parameters were monitored for three weeks in four schools with different levels of education (two classrooms per school; device installed in one only). Based on indoor CO2 concentration, air temperature and relative humidity, the device suggests when windows should be opened to ventilate. The comparison between the two classrooms show that the effectiveness of the device is highly dependent on the occupants: (i) reduction in the average CO2 concentrations of up to 42% in classrooms with frontal lesson and full occupancy, (ii) the device is not the most ideal solution for kindergarten due to the young age of the pupils, and (iii) it is more used during mild outdoor temperatures.

This article presents the results of an interdisciplinary study encompassing data collected from 108 in-depth interviews and 15 participatory workshops aimed at exploring the requirements of a diverse range of stakeholders in relation to assistive augmentative technologies. The study involved 39 post-stroke patients with hand paresis, 39 individuals with spinal cord injuries affecting upper limb function, 38 relatives and 65 healthcare professionals. Through qualitative analysis of the accumulated data, this research identified the multifaceted needs, preferences and aspirations of the study participants. We propose a structured hierarchy for user requirements, inspired by Maslow's hierarchy of needs. At the foundation of this pyramid are the essential functional requirements, forming the bedrock for the subsequent layers. Moving hierarchically, we identified reliability and security requirements, followed by usability and user experience considerations, recognition requirements and, finally, personal growth and self-fulfilment criteria. The foundational functional requirements must be fulfilled before other aspects can take precedence, creating a systematic approach to address the diverse needs of individuals with upper limb disabilities. The pyramid of requirements identified may significantly contribute to the scholarly community and lay the foundation for the development of assistive robotics that align with the desires of individuals with upper limb disabilities.
