Disability narrative theory can shed light on what kinds of young adult novels of mental illness are currently available and suggest directions for authors and library collections to go in the future. As library staff members develop their collections and assist students, patrons, and scholars in navigating the recent publication explosion of YA novels of mental illness, they should be aware that these novels generally fall into one of disability narrative theorist Arthur Frank's three categories: "restitution," "chaos," or "quest" narratives.i While Frank's research covers memoirs of physical disability, my study found that his categories can also be helpful in sorting fiction about mental illness. Mental illness in this study refers to biological brain disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. In what Frank calls a "narrative of restitution," the disability is cured. A "narrative of chaos" focuses on a period of time in which the disabled person's symptoms cause significant disruption in his or her life. In a "quest narrative," the disabled person is managing his or her symptoms in a healthy way and living life to his or her fullest potential. Most young adult novels of mental illness in this study fall into the category of the chaos narrative. While this is helpful for adolescents (as well as their friends and families) because they can read these books and know that they are not alone in their struggle with alarming symptoms and erratic behavior, authors should shift the emphasis of their future novels to the third type of story, the quest narrative, in which characters live in recovery, managing their mental illnesses and leading a fulfilling life. The academic library is an institution in continual flux, with ever-growing demands and challenges for its leadership. Many leadership development texts focus on implementing selected styles or techniques in order to deal with these challenges. However, this article explores how developing reflexivity is an essential component of leadership development for academic library leaders. In order to develop this reflexivity, leaders must become disembedded via relational practices such as engaging within interstitial spaces. Discussion of the topic yields three suggested relational practices for leaders to become disembedded in their quest for reflexivity: (1) participating in regular strategic assessment; (2) cultivating faculty relationships; and (3) engaging in student outreach and embedded librarianship. Public libraries with multilingual communities should provide adequate access to multilingual resources to meet the needs of community members. Few previous studies have addressed online access to multilingual collections of public libraries that serve multilingual communities. This article highlights challenges in supporting multilingual users on public library websites that have multilingual users by asking what factors are involved, how the problems will eventually be solved, and what features will be needed in website design and indexing to enhance multilingual support. Through a participatory approach, Libey et al. ([6]) developed a system dynamics model to investigate the influence of budget allocation on the functionality of water supply infrastructure in two developing regions. To identify effective strategies for improving the community management that can provide sustainable water services, Cannon et al. This paper discusses the design and implications of a study that explored the potential for archives and library special collections to serve as historical environmental proxy data to support the reconstruction of the spatiotemporal spread of the American chestnut blight in Tennessee. By collecting, reconciling, and analyzing heterogeneous mundane primary source materials from 1904 to 1950, the major period of infection and tree loss, the case study reached beyond conventional evidence to ask new questions of nontraditional sources. QGIS and Python were used to reconcile and model nonstandardized and ambiguous natural-language keywords derived from these sources to identify trends and patterns that may not be evident from traditional document analysis. The paper argues that the contributions made by textual and visual information fragments found in these materials support an expansion of the term “proxy data” beyond what is currently understood as paleoclimate archives, i.e., physical, chemical, and biological materials preserved within the geologic record (USGS 2022). Such socially constructed records found in archives and library special collections offer additional qualitative and quantitative information about historical climate change to support modeling variable fluctuations over time. They can also provide a rich and dynamic context for the natural causes and human interventions that, in combination, act on the environment. However, the study also identifies significant limitations in the digital accessibility of relevant archival sources and a lack of specificity in their descriptions. In this technique, a new bridge superstructure is constructed on an offset from the existing bridge, then the existing bridge superstructure is demolished and the new bridge superstructure is slid in place over the existing substructure or a new substructure, which is built underneath the existing bridge prior to sliding the new bridge superstructure. For repairing bridge columns, Farzad et al. ([9]), in their paper entitled "Retrofitting of bridge columns using UHPC", propose an innovative technique to repair damaged bridge columns by the use of thin layers of UHPC, which are applied to column concrete substrates. The bridge towers utilized segmental construction for each pier leg with steel pier caps; in addition, prefabricated deck panels with cast-in-place closure joints were utilized in the bridge superstructure. The Trinity test site was chosen, in part, for its supposed remove from human inhabitation. Yet nearly half-a-million people were living within a 150-mile radius of the explosion, with some as close as 12 miles away. None were warned or evacuated by the US government ahead of time. After the blast went off, fallout snowed down across the landscape for days, contaminating water and food sources. Children played with the hot flakes. Then pets and livestock began to die. Still, no one was told the truth, nor were government efforts made to evacuate the surrounding populations—despite warnings from Manhattan Project doctors and physicists that the radiation hazard for these civilians was, in their words, "very significant." The story of Amir ‌Arslan Namdar is one of the famous folk stories of Persian literature from the Qajar era and one of the most famous romance stories that marks the transition from the short story to the novel. Amir Arslan was written in the middle of the Qajar era and includes some features of traditional and ancient Persian stories, as well as some features of novels. This feature is also evident in the illustrations of many lithographed manuscripts of the book. This article aims to explore the cultural identity and features of this story using a cultural studies approach. It analyzes the hidden and obvious cultural and identity structures of the story by comparing the text and image, while also exploring the hidden cultural roots in this story. This article compares the text and image, examining the content of the story from the perspective of cultural identity and the visual representations within it. It introduces the visual and content aspects of the lithographed manuscript of Amir Arslan Namdar (dated 1317 AH) available in the collection of manuscripts at Iran's National Library. The article aims to uncover the identity and cultural structures of the text and image through a cultural studies approach.Literature ReviewAmong the researches carried out on the story of Amir Arslan and the study in the field of literature of the Qajar period, there is a book From Story to Novel written by Hadi Yavari, which was published in 1390 by Sokhan publishing, and the author in this book deals with various aspects of the story. The most detailed research on Amir Arslan was done by Mohammad Jafar Mahjoub, which was published in three issues and in the form of a series of articles in Sokhan journal in 1339 and 1340. Also, William L. Hanaway (1991), Gholamhossein Yousefi (1357) and Christophe Balay (1377) have published articles on the subject of this story, which mostly investigated and studied its literary aspects.MethodologyThe research method in this article is descriptive-analytical with a historical approach, and the information was collected from library data.ConclusionThe results indicate that throughout their history, Iranians rediscovered their real identity and identity elements in the face of different challenges, including Iskander's attack and Hellenistic culture, the Arab attack and the arrival of Islam, the invasion of Turk and Mongol peoples, and exposure to the West. The Firang style can be considered as one layer of identity in Qajar culture, gradually formed and stabilized in response to Western influence. Archaism can be seen as a result of Iran's encounter with Western civilization, serving as a means to preserve a culture that faced European invasion.Naser al-Din Shah, along with other Qajar kings, considered himself fascinated and related to the Sassanid ancestors, emphasizing the golden and proud era of ancient Iran in the history of the country. This principle of antiquity spread throughout Qajar culture and particularly influenced Qajar-era art. In an attempt to overcome decline and backwardness, intellectuals turned to the golden period of Iran's history, adding another layer of identity to Qajar culture, referring to ancient Iran.Furthermore, the legacy of Islam and Shia thoughts, inherited from previous eras, particularly the Safavid era, served as a means of legitimacy among the people for the Qajars. References to Islam, the Muslim religion, and Islamic characters can be found in folk stories. The story presents Islam with respect, aiming to be pleasant and acceptable to the general population and gain their favor.The research results also indicate that due to the existence of multiple identities in Qajar culture and society, multiple identity layers can be identified in the literature and art of this era. In the story of Amir Arslan Namdar, three layers of identity can be observed: the identity layer of Firang style at the first level, followed by the traditional Iranian-Islamic identity layer at the second level, and the identity layer of archaism at the lower or weaker level of literary and visual identities.According to the cultural studies approach, it was found that the diverse culture of the people in the Qajar period encompassed these layers of identity. In addition to them, the article discusses the passivity of women in society, the prominent role of spells, magic, etc., and the interest of the population in these areas.

The present study analyses the users' attitudes towards library resources and services of first grade colleges of Davangere city, Karnataka. The purpose of study is to identify the awareness of library resources and services. The findings of the study is that majority of 74.86% students satisfied with space for reading room followed by 66%, 63.71%, 62.57%, and 57.43% are stated that they satisfied with furniture, Toilet, Ventilation, and cleanliness available in the library. Purpose This paper aims to present the authors’ attempts to evaluate the access to archival maps available in digital libraries. Its aim was to pinpoint the factors determining the effectiveness of access to old maps and to evaluate which Polish libraries provide resources in such a way as to give the users the best chance of finding the materials necessary for their research.Design/methodology/approach The presented research focussed on archival documents from academic libraries accessible from the Polish Digital Libraries Federation and available from Europeana Collections. The evaluation criteria were established along with features that determine the level of difficulty of access to data describing archival documents. The research took into account the way of recording the data about archival documents in metadata. The authors have also analysed the quantity of available resources and the consistency of metadata record.Findings The results of the research have demonstrated that one-third of the analysed libraries deserve a positive evaluation. The digital library of the Warsaw University and the Jagiellonian Digital Library received the best scores in terms of the description of archival documents. Considering the number of resources, the Jagiellonian Digital Library and the Digital Library of the University of Wrocław are positively distinguished.Originality/value The method of evaluating the access to archival maps has been developed. The criteria and features necessary for this evaluation and the way of their interpretation have also been defined. A key attribute to the academic environment is the value given to research due to its enormous benefits to both the researcher and the institution's knowledge creation. As research output increases in volume, libraries are required to have substantial support systems to manage and make access to these collections available to its users. Institutional Repositories (IRs) are library initiatives that aim at providing a digital embodiment for the management, preservation and dissemination of the intellectual work of the institution. Promoting these intellectual outputs on library's IRs has been found to be very important in providing sustainable and proactive library services. The purpose of this study was to find out how Sam Jonah Library is promoting its institutional repository in order to increase the institution's visibility worldwide. Questionnaires were the main data collection instrument used for the study. The findings revealed that the study participants were fully aware of the benefits of IRs in promoting institutional intellectual output. Some of the challenges that hindered the success of promoting IRs were the lack of a policy to help in its operation, lack of funds, lack of technical staff, apathy from staff, lack of training and lack of knowledge on the tools and practices. Our primary motivator is the need for screening HIV+ populations in resource-constrained regions for exposure to Tuberculosis, using posteroanterior chest radiographs (CXRs). The proposed method is motivated by the observation that radiological examinations routinely conduct bilateral comparisons of the lung field. In addition, the abnormal CXRs tend to exhibit changes in the lung shape, size, and content (textures), and in overall, reflection symmetry between them. We analyze the lung region symmetry using multi-scale shape features, and edge plus texture features. Shape features exploit local and global representation of the lung regions, while edge and texture features take internal content, including spatial arrangements of the structures. For classification, we have performed voting-based combination of three different classifiers: Bayesian network, multilayer perception neural networks, and random forest. We have used three CXR benchmark collections made available by the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, India, and have achieved a maximum abnormality detection accuracy (ACC) of 91.00% and area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.96. Practically every programming language is equipped with primitive data types, iteration and selection constructs, procedures, functions, class and structure definition, exceptions, and so forth to facilitate program development. These are similar in functionality but may differ a little in syntax. Similarly, libraries and packages for functionalities like collections, input/output, and so forth are available with different names to perform similar functions. A programmer has a hard time memorizing the syntax and features of each programming language. The research aims to choose a single unified high-level programming language, a Unified Programming Language (UPL), whose syntax is like of the most commonly existing programming languages. The benefits of learning and adopting a single programming language for programmers can be comforting, but there are some unintended consequences that need to be addressed. This research has gone through several brainstorming sessions and structured walkthroughs within an accessible community to identify and enlist the issues. The most common concern is the usage of a massive amount of existing code/libraries, which results in uncountable manhours and worthwhile investment spent to build it. The subsequent concerns are the availability of programming tools like IDEs and various commonly required libraries and frameworks related to accessing range of databases, files, network streams, and building GUIs and reports. UPL, when released, will be equipped with all necessary libraries, and will provide a set of tools to hook existing libraries frameworks of existing commonly used programming languages like C/C++, JAVA, PHP, PYTHON, .NET languages and JAVASCRIPT, and more. This may be achieved through employing reflection API and documentation, whichever is appropriate. The UPL requires a compiler to generate binary executable code for various platforms. Pinellia Tuber (the dried tuber of Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Makino [Araceae]) (PT) is a crude drug used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Japanese Kampo medicine. PT is subjected to additional processing before use in TCM because of its toxic, while the processing has not been used in Kampo medicine. The aim of this study is to clarify the reason why the differences about the processing of PT between TCM and Kampo medicine have been appeared. We investigated successive literatures published in China and in Japan from the Han dynasty to the modern age. The descriptions about the processing of PT in China had appeared since the Later Han dynasty as washing, and after that, various processing methods have been recorded, such as boiling, steaming, making cakes, and fermenting to prepare PT malt (PTM) with various drug additives. The objective of the processing for PT was not only to remove its toxicity but to change drug properties, and several kinds of processed PT had been developed to treat different types of "phlegm" in the Ming dynasty. The current Chinese Pharmacopoeia recommends the use of processed PT to avoid the toxicity, and registers unprocessed PT as well as three kinds of processed PT except for PTM which had been deleted in 2015 edition. These processing methods for PT have been established in the Qing dynasty. The oldest description in Japan was appeared in 1363, and the processing methods had been influenced by the literatures in the Song dynasty. After that, the processed PT in Japan had mainly been PTM until the 18th century. In 1738, Shuan Kagawa wrote that PT should not be processed because its pharmacological effects disappeared and the toxicity of PT disappeared by preparing its decoction without processing. Then, the processing of PT has been unpopular, and the Japanese Pharmacopoeia has registered PT since 1939 without any processing. Compared to TCM, Japanese Kampo medicine has tended to avoid ideologism based on traditional knowledge and to adopt positivism. The Gala'pagos archipelago is a vast reservoir of terrestrial and marine biodiversity and is particularly susceptible to human, animal, and environmental impacts. Climate change, globalization, and the blurring of human-domestic animalwildlife interfaces are poised to bring new threats and challenges to the region. A One Health perspective that simultaneously considers human, animal, and environmental health is imperative in assessing and mitigating the challenges facing the Gala'pagos Islands. Many challenges facing biodiversity in the Gala'pagos Islands can ultimately be linked to anthropogenic factors. In Part I of this review, we reviewed the impacts of invasive species and identified infectious diseases of importance. In Part II of this review, we discuss the impacts of climate change and ocean acidification, and highlight the effects of several direct anthropogenic activities, including tourism, overfishing, pollution, land use, and human-wildlife conflict. We also review the socioeconomic and political context of the Gala'pagos Islands, including current challenges in water and energy use, sanitation, and economic stability. We examine the importance of investment in local development for building resiliency and sustainability in the archipelago. Finally, we discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the region. Throughout this two-part review, we build a cohesive picture of One Health in the Gala'pagos Islands by integrating past work, current needs, and emerging threats. We also consider overarching goals for conservation, ecosystem management, and socioeconomic sustainability that have been previously defined by both governmental and non-governmental stakeholders, and identify discrete, implementable, and interdisciplinary recommendations that will facilitate achievement of those goals. Background: The benefits of positive psychology interventions (PPIs) have become increasingly popular. While there is an emerging evidence base on the effectiveness of applying positive psychology in curriculum as preventive, early mental health intervention for higher education students, little is known about the content and pedagogy in these promising courses. Objective: This article describes (a) the rationale for and development of a positive psychology course embedded into the curriculum that aims to foster posttraumatic growth, psychological flexibility, and socio-emotional competencies for higher education students; and (b) a mixed-method non-randomised pre-post study to evaluate the effectiveness of the positive psychology course in achieving positive participant outcomes. Methods: Higher education students from different disciplines will be enrolled to a general education course, "Positive Psychology and Personal Growth", where they will learn progressive topics and complete summative assessments related to key areas in positive psychology. In addition to lectures, participants will engage in constructivist-based experiential activities that are guided by research on PPIs, life-design interventions and constructivist learning principles. The primary outcome is posttraumatic growth, and the secondary outcomes are psychological flexibility, and socio-emotional competencies. Expected results: We hypothesised that after the curriculum-embedded PPI, participants will have significantly higher levels of posttraumatic growth, psychological flexibility, and socio-emotional competencies. Results derived from the questionnaire survey will be supported by corroborating evidence identified from qualitative analysis of participants' summative assessments and follow-up semi-structured interviews on their perceptions of the present course. Discussion: The current study will fill in a gap in existing intervention research and practise in curriculum-embedded PPIs and promote research transparency and pedagogical advancement. The intervention provides guidance and recommendations for educators to consider embedding positive psychology into the formal curriculum as cost-effective, low-intensity, structured, and sustainable educational interventions for higher education students. This paper examines legends on the origins (aetiologies) of places and placenames in Benjamin of Tudela's travel account. Origin stories are prevalent in medieval travelogues, but Hebrew travel accounts employ a unique form that is embedded in placenames. Midrash Shem (מדרש שם), as this form is known in Jewish tradition, is the homiletical interpretation of names, typically characterized in some measure by wordplay. I suggest that these legends and placenames serve Hebrew travel literature both as an evidential tool and as an artistic means of expression, contributing to the construction of "known" and "foreign" lands and peoples, and consequently to the formulation of group identities. En route to the foreign and unknown, yet "own", holy Eretz Yisrael, Benjamin of Tudela encounters Jewish communities and records a variety of aetiologies throughout the Middle East. In retelling the origins of the travelled landscape, he transmits local mythical, theological and historical content as well as particular Jewish-diasporic socio-political realities. Diversely told origins of Roman architecture, scattered across most of Benjamin's account, show how these local traditions varied. Some aetiologies fuse traditional with foreign content to affirm a sense of belonging under foreign rule, while others actively undermine established non-Jewish narratives or even oppose competing Jewish narratives. In this introductory article, I briefly examine South Korea's authoritarian approach to film censorship during the 1970s. Specifically, I focus on key institutional features such as the establishment of the Public Performance Ethics Committee, its organizational structure, and its new modus operandi. Additionally, the article will bring attention to the close interaction between the censor office and the film production companies, reflecting different types of discretion in the exercise by the censor agencies. We describe the transcription and quality control processes for rescuing around 570,000 sub‐daily and daily weather observations which were recorded in the UK Met Office Daily Weather Reports during the 1861–1875 period. These data are from the start of coordinated weather observations and were collected with the aim of making the first‐ever weather forecasts. The observations were rescued thanks to 3500 volunteers and include sub‐daily sea‐level pressure, dry and wet bulb temperatures, daily maximum and minimum temperatures, and daily rainfall amounts from 70 different locations across Western Europe, and one in Canada. We highlight how these observations will be used to fill gaps in existing pressure and temperature datasets and use two case studies to show how the pressure observations will likely better constrain the atmospheric circulation during two severe storms. We also compare a sub‐sample of the newly rescued observations with data that were previously digitized for a small number of locations for the same dates, finding good agreement in general, although some discrepancies remain. Purpose: Aggressive weeding in academic libraries is becoming more commonplace as colleges seek to create student-centered environments and space is at a premium. For one community college in the Southwest United States, several factors required the library to proactively weed its collection within three years. At the same time, the library sought to maintain the circulation of its physical books. Design/methodology/approach: Updating the library's collection development policy to include robust selection and weeding criteria allowed the library to embark on a revitalization project to remove thousands of outdated or unused items, resulting in a net loss of nearly 32,000 books. Findings: The loss of more than half of the general collection had an unforeseen consequence – a 70% increase in circulation statistics during the three-year deselection project.
