Cu2SnS3, as a modified material for high-capacity tin-based anodes, has great potential for lithium-ion battery applications. The solvothermal method is simple, convenient, cost-effective, and easy to scale up, and has thus been widely used for the preparation of nanocrystals. In this work, Cu2SnS3 nanoparticles were prepared by the solvothermal method. The effects of high-temperature annealing on the morphology, crystal structure, and electrochemical performance of a Cu2SnS3 nano-anode were studied. The experimental results indicate that high-temperature annealing improves the electrochemical performance of Cu2SnS3, resulting in higher initial coulombic efficiency and improved cycling and rate characteristics compared with those of the as-prepared sample. Superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles have the unique advantages of both magnetic materials and nanomaterials. As a kind of functional materials, which are widely used in the fields of information storage, catalyst, magnetic fluid, biomedicine, and so on. Superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared by solvothermal method using FeCl3.6H2O and CH3COONa as raw materials, HOCH2CH2OH as dispersion medium and C6H5Na3O7.2H2O as surfactant. The effects of reaction time and surfactant concentration on the particle size and morphology of Fe3O4 nanoparticles were studied. The structure and phase composition of Fe3O4 nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), infrared spectrometer, synchronous thermal analyzer, Zeta potentiometer, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and sample magnetometer (VSM). The results show that the active groups of surfactant were bonded to the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles to improve its dispersibility and stability. The particle size of Fe3O4 nanoparticles decreased with the increase of reaction time and surfactant concentration. Superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles were periodically arranged to form photonic crystals under the balance of magnetically induced attraction and electrostatic repulsion. At the same time, with the decrease of the intensity of the external magnetic field, the reflection peak of Fe3O4 photonic crystal had a red shift and shifted to the direction of long wavelength [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Functionalized carbon nitride quantum dots (CNQDs) are fabricated by moderate carbonization of L-tartaric acid and urea in oil acid media by a facile microwave-assisted solvothermal method. The obtained CNQDs are monodispersed with a narrow size distribution (average size of 3.5 nm), and exhibit excellent selectivity and sensitivity of fluorescence quenching for 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) with a quenching efficiency coefficient Ksv of 4.75 × 104 M−1. This sensing system exhibits a fast response time within 1 min and a wide linear response range from 0.1 to 15 μM. The limit of detection is as low as 87 nM, which is comparable or lower than the other probes. The application of the developed probe to the detection of TNP in spiked water samples yields satisfactory results. The mechanism of fluorescence quenching is also discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A novel material Bi1-xGdx-BTC was obtained in situ via the solvothermal method. The effects of Gd3+ substitution on the Bi-BTC structure and photocatalytic properties of Bi1-xGdx-BTC were investigated. A standard Bi-BTC structure was observed in the X-ray diffraction spectra of the Bi1-xGdx-BTC(x ≤ 0.07). However, some diffraction peaks were changed when the x is more than 0.07 due to the different ion radius. The developed Bi1-xGdx-BTC samples exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than the pure Bi-BTC material. In RhB degradation experiments, the Bi1-xGdx-BTC(x = 0.03 and x = 0.05) materials show degradation efficiency conversion of 71% within 60 min under visible light. The high photodegradation efficiency of Bi1-xGdx-BTC could be ascribed to efficient charge transfer between Bi(III) ions and Gd(III) ions. Cu2O spherulites with different morphologies, such as three-dimensional cruciform, hollow and solid Cu2O spherulites were prepared under DMF solvothermal conditions by changing copper source, surfactant and reaction parameters. The products were characterized by XRD and SEM, and the influences of process conditions on the morphology of Cu2O spherulites were analyzed. The results indicate that with the increase of DMF concentration, the reduction capacity of the system is enlarged, Cu+ increases, and the solution supersaturation is enhanced. The spherulites with anisotropy and symmetry controlled by the crystal structure of Cu2O crystal aggregates gradually evolve to isotropic spherulites. Surfactants such as sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) are beneficial to reduce the supersaturation of the solution, the surface diffusion ability of the crystalline substance is improved. And the formation of Cu2O grains tends to be regular. In the reaction system, the carboxyl group generated by the hydrolysis of Cu(Ac)2 · H2 O and the formyl group in DMF undergo decarboxylation reaction at high temperature to generate CO2 gas and the gas generated by SDS foaming is an important reason for the formation of hollow Cu2O spherulites. Ce3+/Tb3+ co-doped and Ce3+/Tb3+/Eu3+ tri-doped β-NaYF4 photoluminescent microcrystals using oleic acid as surfactant were synthesized using the solvothermal method. Their microstructural characteristics and photoluminescence properties were investigated in detail. They have the shape of hexagonal prism bipyramids with uniform particle size, which decreases with the concentrations of Tb3+ and Eu3+. The energy transfer processes of both the Ce3+→Tb3+ and the Ce3+→Tb3+→Eu3+ were systematically studied. Compared with Eu3+ or Tb3+ single-doped β-NaYF4 microcrystals, the sensitization by Ce3+ for the photoluminescence of Tb3+ and Eu3+ leads to a broad excitation spectral bandwidth in the ultraviolet (UV) range. Meanwhile, the corresponding optical absorption efficiency is greatly enhanced. High energy transfer efficiencies have been observed from Ce3+ to Tb3+ and from Tb3+ to Eu3+. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, a multifunctional therapeutic agent combining chemotherapy and photothermal therapy on a single platform has been developed in the form of vinorelbine-loaded polydopamine-coated iron oxide nanoparticles. Vinorelbine (VNB) is loaded on the surface of iron oxide nanoparticles produced by a solvothermal technique after coating with polydopamine (PDA) with varying weight ratios as a result of dopamine polymerisation and covalent bonding of thiol-polyethylene glycol (SH-PEG). The VNB/PDA/Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles have a saturation magnetisation value of 60.40 emu/g in vibrating sample magnetometry, which proves their magnetisation. Vinorelbine, which is used as an effective cancer therapy agent, is included in the nanocomposite structure, and in vitro drug release studies under different pH conditions (pH 5.5 and 7.4) and photothermal activity at 808 nm NIR laser irradiation are investigated. UiO‐66 nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by the solvothermal method using deep eutectic solvents (DESs) and compared to those prepared using the traditional solvent, dimethylformamide. A mixture of choline chloride:glycerol with a molar ratio of 1:2 was used as a green solvent to prepare the NPs. SEM, a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, zeta potential, N2 adsorption/desorption, and surface area characterisations were used to characterise the NPs. Results showed that the NPs formed in the DES had a smaller size but the lower surface area and functionalised with new chemical groups due to the DES effect. Also, the modified metal–organic frameworks surface area increased by increasing the incubation time but decreased by increasing the temperature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cu-doped TiO2 having a brookite phase and showing enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity was synthesized using a mild solvothermal method. The as-prepared samples were characterized by various techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. Photocatalytic activity of Cu-doped brookite TiO2 nanoparticles was evaluated by photodegradation of methylene blue under visible light irradiation. The X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the crystallite size of Cu-doped brookite TiO2 samples decreased with the increase of Cu concentration in the samples. The UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy analysis of the Cu-doped TiO2 samples showed a shift to lower energy levels in the band gap compared with that of bare phase brookite TiO2. Cu doped brookite TiO2 can obviously improve its visible light photocatalytic activity because of Cu ions acting as electron acceptors and inhibiting electron-hole recombination. The brookite TiO2 sample with 7.0 wt.% Cu showed the highest photocatalytic activity and the corresponding degradation rate of MB (10 mg/L) reached to 87 % after visible light illumination for 120 min, much higher than that of bare brookite TiO2 prepared under the same conditions (78 %). In our study, a series of sphere morphology of TiO2 supports owned the different structural units, including the flower-like sphere with thin-long nanorods (TiO2-75), nanosheets-assembled sphere with broad-short nanorods (TiO2-50) and particle-assembled sphere (TiO2-30) which were synthesized with adjusting volume ratio of Titanium (IV) isopropoxide/acetic acid by solvothermal method. Subsequently, CeO2–WO3/TiO2 catalysts were prepared by simple impregnation methods and applied for selective catalytic reduction of NOx with NH3. Notably, the TiO2 sphere morphology gradually varied from flower-like sphere to particle-assembled sphere with the increase volume ratio of Titanium (IV) isopropoxide/acetic acid. Meanwhile, the microscopic structural units of morphology for TiO2 support could be regularly controlled by adjusting volume ratio of Titanium (IV) isopropoxide/acetic acid. Among, the optimal flower-like sphere TiO2 morphology with thin-long nanorods had the best catalytic performance when the volume ratio was 1:75, which could be attributed to bigger pore structure and higher specific surface area supplying enough dispersion for active ingredient, adsorption of reactants and exposure of more active sites. Meanwhile, it could be found that the redox ability and abundant surface acidity of the CeO2–WO3/TiO2 catalyst played a critical role in catalytic activity via a series of characterizations. To prepare chalcopyrite-phase CuInSe2 (CIS) nanosheets, green reductants were screened by using them to reduce the valence state of copper sources using a N,N-dimethylformamide/triethylene glycol(DMF/TEG) mixed solvent. CuCl was used as the copper source, indium chloride as the indium source, selenium powder as the selenium source, TEG as the anionic solvent, DMF as the cationic solvent, and Vitamin C (Vc) as the reductant. The influences of reaction temperature, reaction time, and Vc amount on the phase and composition of synthetic CuInSe2 nanosheets were examined, and the results were used to propose a reaction mechanism. The optional reaction conditions were a reaction temperature of 260 oC, a reaction time of 16 h, and a Vc amount of 0.20 g. Chalcopyrite-phase CIS nanosheets were synthesized with particle sizes of 14 µm and a uniform particle size distribution. CuInSe2 thin films displayed good surface smoothness and compactness in a 5.5 µm spin-cast film. The thin film showed a bandgap of 1.08 eV, a carrier concentration of 5.26×1016 cm-3, and a carrier mobility of 150.41 cm² V-1 S-1. The results showed that this strategy can be used to prepare chalcopyrite-phase CIS which could be used as a photosensitive layer for various optoelectronic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The composite of three-dimensional flower-like layered double hydroxides (LDH) with carbon black (CB) was prepared by solvothermal method using ethanol as the solvent. X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to characterize the structure and morphology of the samples. Cyclic voltammetry, AC impedance, constant current charge and discharge were used to analyze the electrochemical properties of materials. The results show that the prepared NiCo-LDH/CB and NiCo-LDH/CB-D electrodes have specific capacitances of 1 520 F·g-1 and 2 127 F·g-1 at a current density of 1 A·g-1 respectively when used as electrode materials for supercapacitors. Even at the high current density of 7 A·g-1, their specific capacitance can still reach 1 438 F·g-1 and 2 011 F·g-1, and the capacity retention rate is 94. 6% and 94. 5%. Lead‐free single crystal perovskite materials exhibit impressive characteristics, such as high carrier mobility, low trap density, and long diffusion length. Herein, the high‐performance blue light photodetectors are reported based on lead‐free all‐inorganic Cs3Sb2Br9 perovskite single crystals. These millimeter‐sized Cs3Sb2Br9 single crystals have small thermal activation energy of 56.8 meV estimated by temperature‐dependent photoluminescence study. There is no obvious structural phase transition of the as‐obtained Cs3Sb2Br9 single crystals since no Raman peak shift is observed with temperature increasing from 80 to 300 K. The as‐constructed high quality Cs3Sb2Br9 single crystals photodetectors have an excellent performance of a responsivity of 2.29 A W−1, a sharp detectivity of 3.77 × 1012 Jones, and an external quantum efficiency (EQE) peak of 1.8 × 103%. Moreover, the photodetectors exhibit a fast response time (<0.2 ms) and the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the sharp EQE peak is as narrow as 15 nm. In the present investigation, we successfully synthesized Cu 2 ZnSnS 4 (CZTS) nanoparticles via solvothermal method with different sulfur sources at 240 °C for 14 h. The experimental results show that the different sulfur sources caused unique and significant changes in the material properties. The synthesized products were investigated by XRD. Raman spectroscopy revealed that the crystallinity improved and kesterite structures with no secondary phases formed. The TEM results showed that the morphological features of the prepared CZTS nanoparticles had an average particle size of 40 nm and confirmed the nanoparticles' crystallinity. The FESEM results demonstrated that the CZTS nanoparticles had thin films with dense, uniform, and smooth surfaces with grain sizes in a range of 2–4 μm. The CZTS nanoparticles' optical band gaps were 1.51 eV. XPS was used to investigate the oxidation state of elements in a sample prepared using thiourea. Photovoltaic devices with SLG/Mo/CZTS/CdS/i-ZnO/ZnO:Al structures exhibited3.56% efficiency via CZTS thin film-based nanoparticles prepared using thiourea. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ti02 : Sm3+ nanocrystals were synthesized by solvothermal method with Sm (N03) 3 • 6H20 and tetrabutylitanate as raw materials, anhydrous ethanol and acetylacetone as solvent. Compared with Ti0 2, Sm3+ doping can reduce the volume expansion and improve the structural stability of the materials during charging and discharging. The results show that Ti02 : Sm3+ nanocrystals, as the anode material of lithium ion batteries, exhibit a high initial specific discharge capacity of 52 9. 3 m Ah / g at 1 A/ g. After 100 cycles, the capacity stabilizes at 92 _ 8 mAh/ g and the coulombic efficiency retain above 85% after the second cycle, displaying a superior cycling stability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, a novel p–n junction photocatalyst of BiOCl/(BiO)2CO3 anchored on RGO was synthesized to enhance the visible light photocatalytic activity. The crystal structure and morphology of the prepared samples were characterized via X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman spectroscopy, respectively. The photodegradation performances of the samples were evaluated by photodegrading methyl orange (MO) under visible light irradiation. The results showed that nanoparticles of BiOCl/(BiO)2CO3 were well dispersed on the RGO nanosheets which served as the growth support and the morphology controller. The RGO addition could enhance the photocatalytic performance of the BiOCl/(BiO)2CO3-RGO composites with the maximum degradation efficiency of 99.1% under visible light irradiation compared to the sample without RGO (80%). The improved property was attributed to the fact that RGO effectively separated the electron–hole pairs of the composites. Meanwhile, the possible mechanism of the photocatalysis was proposed, which revealed the transfer of charge carriers and the formation of active substances in the photocatalytic process. A spherical iron oxide precursor was prepared using a solvothermal method, and then treated thermally at 400°C to obtain α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles. The structures and morphology of the as-obtained products were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that the diameter of the α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles was approximately 500 nm. In addition, we formed the α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles into a thick film as a gas sensor and performed a gas sensing test. When the working temperature was set at 250°C, the α-Fe2O3 nanoparticle displayed very good selectivity and high sensitivity for trimethylamine (TMA). The minimum detection was as low as 1 ppm, and the response value for 100 ppm TMA gas was 27.8. Taken together, our findings illustrated that the α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles could be used as a gas-sensitive material to test the freshness of fish.

In order to improve the visible light catalytic activity of titanium dioxide (TiO _2 ) and ensure its long-term stability on the surface of concrete, an N-TiO _2 /SiO _2 composite was prepared using tetrabutyl titanate, nitric acid, and modified SiO _2 nanospheres as the precursors by a solvothermal method. The effect of nitric acid on the phase composition, morphology and photoelectric properties of the synthesized photocatalytic composites was systematically studied by various characterization methods. The results show that the optimum nitric acid/butyl titanate volume ratio is 1/6. The nitrogen-doped TiO _2 nanoparticles were uniformly dispersed on the surface of spherical SiO _2 with a diameter of 200 nm. The degradation rate of simulated pollutants (RhB) with pH 5 and 7 exceeded 95% within 30 min and the catalytic effect remained excellent after five repetitions without much weakening. The excellent visible photocatalytic performance can be attributed to the doping of N replacing part of the oxygen atoms in TiO _2 , forming the energy level of N 2p at the O 2p energy level and reducing the TiO _2 energy band gap to 2.99 eV. At the same time, the better dispersion of N-TiO _2 /SiO _2 prepared by this new synthesis method also plays an important role in the improvement of visible light photocatalytic activity.

In this work, a Zn–benzenetricarboxylic acid (Zn@H3BTC) organic framework coated with a dispersed layer of chitosan (CH/Zn@H3BTC) was synthesized using a solvothermal approach. The synthesized CH/Zn@H3BTC was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and Brunauer, Emmett, and Teller (BET) surface area. The microscopic observation and the analysis of the BET surface area of CH/Zn@H3BTC nanocomposites indicated that chitosan plays an important role in controlling the surface morphology and surface properties of the Zn@H3BTC. The obtained findings showed that the surface area and particle size diameter were in the range of 80 m2 g−1 and 800 nm, respectively. The corrosion protection characteristics of the CH/Zn@H3BTC composite in comparison to pristine chitosan on duplex steel in 2.0 M H2SO4 medium determined by electrochemical (E vs. time, PDP, and EIS) approaches exhibited that the entire charge transfer resistance of the chitosan- and CH/Zn@H3BTC-composite-protected films on the duplex steel substrate was comparatively large, at 252.4 and 364.8 Ω cm2 with protection capacities of 94.1% and 97.8%, respectively, in comparison to the unprotected metal surface (Rp = 20.6 Ω cm2), indicating the films efficiently protected the metal from corrosion. After dipping the uninhabited and protected systems, the surface topographies of the duplex steel were inspected by FESEM. We found the adsorption of the CH/Zn@H3BTC composite on the metal interface obeys the model of the Langmuir isotherm. The CH/Zn@H3BTC composite revealed outstanding adsorption on the metal interface as established by MD simulations and DFT calculations. Consequently, we found that the designed CH/Zn@H3BTC composite shows potential as an applicant inhibitor for steel protection.

Solvothermal synthesis has shown to have a great potential to synthesize Zinc Oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) with less than 10 nm size. In this study, we present a rapid synthesis of ZnO NPs in which ZnO NPs with more uniform shape and highly dispersed were synthesized using zinc acetate dihydrate (Zn(CH3COO)2∙2H2O) and potassium hydroxide (KOH) as a precursor and absolute ethanol as solvent via solvothermal method. Few techniques were exploited to characterize synthesized ZnO NPs including X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and ultraviolet visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy. Synthesized ZnO NPs that were prepared via solvothermal synthesis method at 60oC for 3 hours exhibited a wurtzite structure with a crystalline size of 10.08 nm and particle size of 7.4 ± 1.2 nm. The UV-vis absorption spectrum has shown peak at 357 nm indicate the presence of ZnO NPs. Hence, better quality with uniform size ZnO NPs can be easily synthesized with reduced amount of time via solvothermal synthesis method rather than using other complicated and lengthy synthesis methods.

Using FeCl3·6H2O as iron source, the hollow spheres-in-porous three-dimension (3D)-nanostructure denotes the structure of the hollow Fe3O4 nanospheres & spongy carbon composite was synthesized by the disposable solvothermal method. The effect of the preparation methods and the proportion ratio on the electrochemical properties of the samples was investigated. The phase, composition and morphology of the hollow Fe3O4 nanosphere & spongy carbon composites were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The specific surface area and pore size distribution of the specimen were characterized by nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm method. Galvanostatic cycling test was carried out with a LAND CT2001C battery test system to characterize the electrochemical performance. The electrochemical experiment results indicate that the sample exhibits the better electrochemical properties with the synchronization solvothermal method and compound ratio Fe3O4&C=2:1. The reversible specific capacity remains 1302.6mAh·g-1 up to 100 cycles at the current density of 0.1A·g-1. A homogeneous distribution of hollow Fe3O4 nanospheres(135nm) in the spongy carbon conductive 3D-network significantly enhances the effective contact with electrolyte and increases electrochemical reaction area, so that improves electrochemical performance of the composite material.

In the present work, we synthesized fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) through solvothermal treatment of Buchnania lanzan leaf extract at 160 °C for 4 h in an oven. Here, Buchnania lanzan leaves served as a renewable source of carbon. The obtained blackish brown CD solution was centrifuged, and the supernatant was filtered through a syringe filter (0.22 µm). Further, the CD solution was dried in a vacuum oven to obtain a powder. The synthesized CDs were characterized by different techniques including UV–visible spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), zeta potential and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The as-prepared CD solution was found to be brownish colored in daylight while exhibiting green fluorescence under UV light. The UV–visible absorption spectrum displayed characteristic shoulder peaks of CDs at 257 nm and at 356 nm. In the fluorescence spectra, excitation-dependent emission behavior of the CDs was seen, which is one of the distinct characteristics of CDs. The negative zeta potential and characteristic peaks in FTIR suggested the presence of carbonyl, amine and hydroxyl functional groups on the CD surface. The XRD spectrum exhibited a broad peak at 2θ=19°, suggesting the amorphous nature of the CDs, similar to what has been reported in earlier works. As we synthesized surface-functionalized fluorescent carbon dots from a renewable and abundant precursor, this method can be highly useful in the large-scale synthesis of carbon dots with reduced costs and will find potential applications in the fields of drug delivery, bioimaging, etc.

Controlling the morphology and magnetic properties of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles is crucial for the synthesis of compatible materials for different applications. CoFe2O4 nanoparticles were synthesized by a solvothermal method using cobalt nitrate, iron nitrate as precursors, and oleic acid as a surfactant. The formation of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles was systematically observed by adjusting synthesis process conditions including reaction temperature, reaction time, and oleic acid concentration. Nearly spherical, monodispersed CoFe2O4 nanoparticles were formed by changing the reaction time and reaction temperature. The oleic acid-coated CoFe2O4 nanoparticles inhibited the growth of particle size after 1 h and, therefore, the particle size of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles did not change significantly as the reaction time increased. Both without and with low oleic acid concentration, the large-sized cubic CoFe2O4 nanoparticles showing ferromagnetic behavior were synthesized, while the small-sized CoFe2O4 nanoparticles with superparamagnetic properties were obtained for the oleic acid concentration higher than 0.1 M. This study will become a basis for further research in the future to prepare the high-functional CoFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles by a solvothermal process, which can be applied to bio-separation, biosensors, drug delivery, magnetic hyperthermia, etc.

A magnetic covalent organic framework material was synthesized with a core‐shell structure using a simple solvothermal method. It was prepared with Fe3O4 as the magnetic core, covalent organic framework as the shell, which synthesized from 1,3,5‐triformylphloroglucinol and p‐phenylenediamine by Schiff base reaction. Transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, powder X‐ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometry, and nitrogen adsorption‐desorption were used to characterize magnetic adsorbent. It has showed a large specific surface area (505.6 m2/g), which can provide many adsorption sites. Moreover, the saturation magnetization value was 48.4 emu/g enough to be separated by external magnet. Six kinds of fluoroquinolones (enoxacin, fleroxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin, pefloxacin, and lomefloxacin) were extracted by magnetic solid phase extraction with the magnetic adsorbent. High‐performance liquid chromatography detects the entire adsorption and desorption process to further evaluate the optimal extraction and desorption conditions. Under the optimal chromatographic conditions, this method showed a low detection limit (0.05 to 0.20 μg/L), good linearity in the range of 0.5 to 200 μg/L, and the enrichment factor reaches 115.5‐127.3. This study aims to synthesize and evaluate the photocatalytic activity of bismuth terephthalate material (Bi-BDC) synthesized by solvothermal (ST) and microwave-assisted solvothermal (MW) methods. Differences in the crystal structure and crystal shape were assessed by analytical methods such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrum, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), N2 adsorption/desorption, Raman spectrum, and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). From XRD, IR, Raman, and XPS results, the fully crystallized Bi-BDC materials were achieved regardless of the preparation router. Bi-BDC-MW exhibited spherical-like morphologies, producing between stacked lamellar, while Bi-BDC-ST method exhibited a heterogeneous structure. The TGA data indicated that Bi-BDC is thermally stable up to 300 °C, suggesting the excellent thermal stability of Bi-BDC. The surface area and pore volume of Bi-BDC-MW (18 m2/g and 85 × 10−3 cm3/g) are higher than those of Bi-BDC-ST (16 m2/g and 52 × 10−3 cm3/g), which is due to its well-defined lamellar microstructure and homogeneity of the crystals. Compared to Bi-BDC-ST, Bi-BDC-MW has a higher value in the content of oxygen vacancy. Moreover, the photocatalytic efficiency of Bi-BDC-MW was significantly higher than that of Bi-BDC-ST, in which 99.44% rhodamine B (RhB) is removed after 360 min of irradiation. The improved photocatalytic efficiency of Bi-BDC-MW is ascribed to the morphology, specific surface area, and oxygen defects, which exhibited the good separation of electrons and holes, as confirmed by the photoluminescence (PL). Ni-rich cathode material is taking more and more important position in energy storage and conversion because of their high capacity. But the gap between the demanded and actual capacity still hinder the development of electric vehicle industry. Herein, the Ni-rich (Ni content > 85%) cathode material has received extensive concern. In our research, LiNi0.88Co0.09Al0.03O2 was prepared with solvothermal method by two steps. Meanwhile, the different solvents in solvothermal route are investigated. It is found that LiNi0.88Co0.09Al0.03O2 prepared by isopropyl alcohol shows an excellent capacity retention which is up to 82.3% after 100 cycles at 55 °C, much higher than that prepared by ethyl alcohol (64.0%). A magnetic porous carbon (Fe 3 O 4 @PC) was successfully fabricated based on combustion combined with solvothermal method, and then used as magnetic solid-phase extraction absorbent for the determination of four triazole fungicides. The porous carbon was fabricated by imperfect combustion of filter paper loaded with zinc nitrate hexahydrate, which possessed extremely abundant pores, high specific surface area (908.05 m2 g−1) and large pore volume. Due to the introduction of solvothermal method used to prepare Fe 3 O 4 @PC, homogeneously distributed magnetic nanoparticles and high saturation magnetization were obtained. Compared with another magnetic porous carbon (Fe 3 O 4 @C), Fe 3 O 4 @PC obviously enhanced enrichment factors and extraction recoveries. Several key parameters influencing extraction efficiency were optimized. The satisfactory enrichment factors, low limits of detection of the method and good linearities were achieved under the optimal conditions. The relative recoveries ranged from 82.8% to 113.2% in three spiked real samples with relative standard deviations lower than 6.2%. The results indicated the great potential of the novel Fe 3 O 4 @PC as adsorbent for the extraction of triazole fungicides from complex real samples. The incorporation of additional metal to form homo/heterojunction nanomaterials may enhance electrical conductivity and electrocatalytic performance. In this work, a novel Ni−Fe‐Se compound made through a facile solvothermal method with the presence of D‐(+)‐glucose (labeled as Ni0.5Fe0.5Se2/C) exhibited outstanding catalytic activity toward water oxidation. During oxygen evolution reaction (OER) process in alkaline condition, Ni0.5Fe0.5Se2/C catalyst shows an overpotential of 254 mV at 10 mA cm−2, 77 mV lower than that of the commercial RuO2, and an excellent stability. In this work, TiO 2 /MXene composites were successfully synthesized through an in-situ solvothermal method, where the morphology of TiO 2 nanoparticles (NPs) was modified by different concentrations of agents. Ti 3 C 2 T x with electronic storage characteristics was employed as a co-catalyst to enhance the photocatalytic degradation activity by capturing photogenerated electrons. The experimental results reveal that, with the help of C 3 H 8 O agents, TiO 2 NPs are uniformly distributed on the surface of Ti 3 C 2 T x. The TiO 2 /Ti 3 C 2 T x -C 3 H 8 O composite showed the highest photocatalytic activity of 90.5% after 75 min under mercury light irradiation, which is 57.9% higher than that of the pure TiO 2 photocatalyst. Hexagonal pyramidal β‐NaYF4:Eu3+ are synthesized with a facile solvothermal method using the mixture of ethylene glycol and deionized water (DIW) as the reaction solvents. The solvent ratio has a strong effect on the morphology, growth, and photoluminescence (PL) properties of β‐NaYF4:Eu3+. Both the particle size and the aspect ratio of length/diameter of the β‐NaYF4:Eu3+ increase with the proportion of DIW in the reaction solvents, and their crystallinity is also enhanced. The growth behavior of the β‐NaYF4:Eu3+ has been analyzed and explained based on the intrinsic crystal structures, the surface free energy, and the interactions between the reacting ions. The PL of the β‐NaYF4:Eu3+ greatly increases with the proportion of DIW in the reaction solvents, and this is attributed to their enhanced crystallinity with lower density of nonradiative defects. Taking the all-green synthesis of copper indium selenium (CIS) material as the research purpose, we took Vitamin C (Vc) as a reducing agent and triethylene glycol (TEG) as a solvent to synthesize copper indium selenium(CIS) materials by solvothermal method and hot injection method, and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the two synthetic methods. The dosage of Vc used in the two preparation methods was investigated, the process and mechanism of the chemical reaction were explained, and the thin film of the synthesized product was prepared and characterized. The experimental results showed that both liquid phase methods can be used to synthesize the single-phase chalcopyrite CIS nanosheets, and the performance of the product synthesized by the hot injection method was superior to that by the solvothermal method. The copper-poor structure Cu0.9In0.94Se2 nanosheets with a band gap of 1.06 eV were synthesized by hot injection method. The carrier concentration and carrier mobility of the thin film prepared by the product synthesized by the hot injection method reached 1.08×1016 cm-3 and 120.62 cm2 V-1 S-1, respectively. The results showed that using Vc as a reducing agent, both liquid phase methods could be applied to produce single-phase chalcopyrite CIS nanosheets, which could achieve the universal use of Vc in liquid phase synthesis of CIS materials. • First report on the preparation of Cu, In & Ag doped SnS nanorods through CTAB–assisted solvothermal method. • Optical and electrical properties of SnS nanorods are tuned through the substitutional doping of Cu2+, In3+ and Ag2+. • Ionic radii difference between the dopant and host cations cause the modified structural and morphological properties of SnS. • Among Cu, In & Ag, higher doping of In (>4%) resulted in the formation of Sn 2 S 3 secondary phase. • Cu 4% doped SnS nanorods showed resistivity 3 × 104 Ω cm and carrier concentration 1.46 × 1014 cm−3. In order to overcome the efficiency limitation factors of SnS based thin film solar cells, this manuscript is aimed to improve the optoelectronic properties of SnS through the substitutional doping of Cu, In and Ag into SnS lattice sites. Cu, In and Ag doped SnS nanorods are prepared through CTAB–assisted solvothermal method with a reaction temperature of 150 °C and reaction time of 90 min. XPS analysis reveals the presence of Cu2+, In3+ and Ag2+ as the dopant cation in the prepared Cu, In and Ag doped SnS samples respectively. The variations in the crystal structural and morphological properties with respect to doping can be very well correlated with the low ionic radii of dopant cation as compared to the host cation (Sn2+). The structural and optoelectronic studies demonstrate the successful doping in SnS which is optimized as Cu 4%, In 4% and Ag 6%. Among all dopants, the band gap energy, carrier concentration and electrical resistivity are optimized as 1.34 eV, 1014 cm−3 and 0.3 × 105 Ωcm respectively for Cu 4% doped SnS. In the present study, we report on the successful synthesis of hollow nanospheres of maghemite (γ-Fe2O3). The γ-Fe2O3 hollow nanospheres were synthesized by annealing magnetite (Fe3O4) hexagonal nanoparticles produced by solvothermal method. Structural analysis by slow-scan X-ray diffraction (XRD) marks a small peak shift towards high angle confirming the change in the iron oxide phase from Fe3O4 to γ-Fe2O3. Further, FT-IR spectroscopy reveals for Fe3O4 a band at 571 cm−1, which shows the Fe-O stretching mode of tetrahedral and octahedral sites. Formation of γ-Fe2O3 upon annealing was again confirmed from the broadening and splitting of band 571 cm−1 into two bands, viz. 556 cm−1 and 637 cm−1. Magnetic properties of the synthesized samples were studied using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) at 300 K. The value of saturation magnetization (MS) of Fe3O4 nanoparticles and γ-Fe2O3 hollow nanospheres was 56 emu/g and 43 emu/g, respectively. For Fe3O4, infrequent Verwey transition appeared when variation in magnetization with temperature was studied. Morphological analysis confirms the hexagonal shape of Fe3O4 nanoparticles with an average particle size of 57 nm. The same study interestingly epitomizes a hollow nanospherical shape with an average particle size of 12 nm for γ-Fe2O3. The emergence of the Verwey transition in Fe3O4 hexagonal nanoparticles and the existence of significant magnetization of 43 emu/g in hollow nanospheres of γ-Fe2O3 in this study are contentious and fascinating for possible applications. TiO 2 nanoboxes with a hollow interior space, derived from titanium oxydifluoride (TiOF 2) nanocubes, were prepared using a two-step method, in which the TiOF 2 nanocubes acting as the precursor were first synthesized using a typical hydrothermal route. Subsequently, a second hydrothermal step was developed to prepare the TiO 2 nanoboxes. The clear phase transformation from the TiOF 2 precursor to anatase TiO 2 was confirmed using X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy analyses. The evolution of the morphology from a nanocube to nanobox was revealed by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy observations. The influences of the phase and morphology on the electrorheological (ER) effect were investigated using an ER test. The ER results suggested that the ER efficiency was significantly enhanced after the second hydrothermal treatment, especially under a high external electric field strength. The enhancement in the ER efficiency was further studied using a dielectric spectrum analysis. It demonstrated that the faster response time and large permittivity difference obtained from the dielectric spectrum of TiO 2 were responsible for the improvement in the ER effect. Gd 2 Zr 2 O 7 ceramics demonstrate important prospect in the immobilization of high-level radioactive wastes (HLWs). In this study, Gd 2 Zr 2 O 7 nanoceramics were fabricated using two-step method, where Gd 2 Zr 2 O 7 nanopowder was firstly synthesized by solvothermal method and Gd 2 Zr 2 O 7 nanoceramics were subsequently sintered via self-propagating chemical furnace plus quick pressing (SCF/QP). The characterization results display that the Gd 2 Zr 2 O 7 nanocrystalline ceramics with average grain size of 78 nm and bulk density of 5.53 g cm−3 were successfully prepared. The results of MCC-1 static leaching experiments show that the normalized release rate (LR i) of Gd is 2.2 × 10−2 g m−2•d−1 on the first day and converges to 1.2 × 10−3 g m−2•d−1 after 42 days. Zr shows superior chemical stability as the 21 days LR Zr value is as low as 2.7 × 10−6 g m−2•d−1, which becomes constant as the leaching duration prolongs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Titania nanotubes were synthesized by simple solvothermal method using quasi crystalline TiO 2 nanoparticles as the starting material without using autoclave. In the presence of concentrated NaOH (sodium hydroxide), TiO 2 nanoparticles were transformed into nanotubes. The complete transformation of nanoparticles to nanotubes was witnessed using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) and High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) images and further, the materials were found to be polycrystalline in nature. From the X-ray diffraction pattern and Raman analysis, the TiO 2 nanoparticles were found to exhibit the anatase phase and the nanotubes were found to exhibit the titanate phase. The surface area and pore size distribution were analysed using BET (Brunauer–Emmett–Teller) and BJH (Barrett–Joyner–Halenda) analysis. The surface area of the nanotubes was found to be higher compared to the initial nanoparticles and bimodal type pore distributions were observed from the BJH study. The bandgap and defect emissions of the nanotubes and nanoparticles were analysed using UV–Vis absorption and photoluminescence (PL) analysis. The chemical states of the prepared nanoparticles were further characterized using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. TiO2 nanoparticles with controllable morphology perform well in both physical and chemical properties, which have great significance in photocatalytic degradation of wastewater and photodegradation of water. In this study, TiO2 was prepared by solvothermal method with tetrabutyl titanate as titanium source, acetic acid as solvent and surfactant as additive. The effects of single and mixed surfactants, such as cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), polyethylene glycol (PEG) and carboxamide, on the microstructure of TiO2 were systematically studied. The results showed that the prepared TiO2 was anatase phase. It clearly demonstrated the procedure how the morphology and size of TiO2 were influenced by surfactant. In the reaction system, when carboxamide was added to TiO2, CTAB or PEG, TiO2 nanocrystals gathered to form rod, cluster or similar ellipse, respectively. When two or more different surfactants were added to the system simultaneously, the morphology of TiO2 could be cauliflower-like, spherical and three-dimensional flower-like structures formed by the directional aggregation of nanocrystals due to the coordination between the surfactants. The photocatalytic properties of methyl orange were investigated under UV irradiation. The results showed that the photocatalytic properties of cauliflower-like structures, spherical structures and three-dimensional flower-like structures formed by the directional aggregation of nanocrystals were better than those of commercial Degussa P25. TiO2 nanoparticles with three-dimensional flower-like structures exhibited good photocatalytic performance, with the degradation ratio of methyl orange 94% under simulated irradiation for 60 min. In this wok, a novel Bi 24 O 31 Br 10 /nano-ZnO composite photocatalyst has been synthesized with solvothermal method. The photocatalytic ability of the composite photocatalyst is estimated through degrading Rhodomine B (RhB) under visible light. The RhB degradation rate exceeds 90% in 40 min for the Bi 24 O 31 Br 10 /nano-ZnO (5%) composite, showing the most remarkable photocatalytic abilities. The excellent photocatalytic performance can be explained by the successful detachment and motion of photo-induced electrons (e−) and holes (h+) in the composite photocatalyst. Additionally, a probable photo-catalytic principle of the Bi 24 O 31 Br 10 /nano-ZnO composite for RhB degradation is discussed. We report a green and facile approach for the synthesis of NiFe2O4 (NF) nanoparticles with good crystallinity. The prepared materials are studied by various techniques in order to know their phase structure, crystallinity, morphology and elemental state. The BET analysis revealed a high surface area of 80.0 m2·g−1 for NF possessing a high pore volume of 0.54 cm3·g−1, also contributing to the amelioration of the electrochemical performance. The NF sample is studied for its application in supercapacitors in an aqueous 2 mol·L−1 KOH electrolyte. Electrochemical properties are studied both in the three-electrode method and in a symmetrical supercapacitor cell. Results show a high specific capacitance of 478.0 F·g−1 from the CV curve at an applied scan rate of 5 mV·s−1 and 368.0 F·g−1 from the GCD analysis at a current density of 1 A·g−1 for the NF electrode. Further, the material exhibited an 88% retention of its specific capacitance after continuous 10000 cycles at a higher applied current density of 8 A·g−1. Fe3O4/reduced graphene oxide (Fe3O4/rGO) nanocomposite has been successfully fabricated using a modified interface solvothermal method and characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In the preparation procedure, graphene oxide was reduced and ultrafine Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) were uniformly loaded on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) carrier. Scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope images and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller specific surface area revealed that the aggregation of Fe3O4 NPs was greatly reduced by introducing rGO as a substrate. The average size of the Fe3O4 NPs anchored on the graphene sheets was 100 nm, which is much smaller than 1-μm bare Fe3O4. The DSC results showed that Fe3O4/rGO nanocomposite reduces the first decomposition temperature of dihydroxylammonium 5,5′-bistetrazole-1,1′-diolate (TKX-50) by 44.9 °C and decreases the apparent activation energy of TKX-50 by 26.2 kJ mol−1, which exhibits higher catalytic performance than its individual components and their physical mixture (hybrid). Using manganese acetate, zinc acetate and self-made graphene oxide as raw materials, ZnMn2O4/RGO composites were prepared by solvothermal method and hydrothermal method, respectively, and their electrochemical properties were studied comparatively. The results showed that the addition of RGO increased the specific surface area of the ZnMn2O4/RGO composites and improved the electrochemical properties of the ZnMn2O4 material; under the condition of a current density of 2 A/g, the ZnMn2O4/RGO composites prepared by solvothermal method and hydrothermal method had specific capacitances of 763.4 F/g and 127.8 F/g, respectively. After 500 cycles of experiments, the capacitance retention rates of the composites made by these two methods were 84.9% and 83.0%, respectively. By the thermal reaction of tetrakis(acetylacetonato)zirconium in 1,4-butanediol at 300 °C for 2 h, spherical zirconia particles with large surface areas and large pore volumes both in the meso and macro pore regions were directly obtained. The thermal reactions at lower temperatures afforded intermediate compounds having a layered-structure, attributed to the formation of the unique pore system of the products obtained in 1,4- butanediol. A type of leaf-shaped cobalt-based metal-organic framework material is synthesized by solvothermal method with 1.3:1 cobalt and terephthalic acid ratio and uses as the air electrode catalyst for lithium-oxygen batteries working at high discharge current density. Physical characterization displays that the interaction between cobalt and terephthalic acid can produce a crystal material and the different proportions have a certain influence on their structure and crystallinity. In addition, micromorphology with cobalt and terephthalic acid 1.3:1 shows a leaf-like structure, and synaptic structure on the leaf surface may be beneficial to improve the catalytic activity. Electrochemical tests present that air electrode using this leaf-like structure catalyst materials has good reversibility and the specific discharge capacities can achieve to 3573.90 mAh g−1 at 0.5 mA cm−2 current densities. Herein, hexagonal boron nitride (h‐BN) and nitride‐doped molybdenum disulfide (N−MoS2) nano‐composites (h‐BN/N−MoS2) were synthesized by facile and cost‐effective liquid exfoliation with a solvothermal method in nontoxic ethanol solution. The results show that h‐BN, as a co‐catalyst, can not only dope into the lattice of MoS2 but also form a heterogeneous structure with MoS2NSs. It expanded the layer spacing and specific surface area of MoS2NSs, which was beneficial to the contact between the catalyst and the substrate, and resulted in a synergistic enhancement of the catalytic activity of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) with MoS2. A colorimetric determination platform of h‐BN/N−MoS2‐TMB‐H2O2 was constructed. It exhibited a wide linear range of 1–1000 μM with a low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.4 μM under optimal conditions, high sensitivity and stability, as well as good reliability (99.4–110.0%) in practice, making the measurement system more widely applicable.1. PVA passivated ZnSe nanorods have been synthesized using the solvothermal method. XRD analysis of the synthesized nanorods validates the cubic zinc blende structure with average particle size of 14 nm, and SEM analysis confi rms the formation of rods having a wide range of lengths. A twin nanorod along with a typical nanostructure of rods has been observed in SEM micrographs. The optical characterization of the synthesized nanorods has been made using UV-Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy. An energy gap of 3.89 eV has been observed, which is blue shifted from the bulk ZnSe. The dielectric study of ZnSe nanorods has been also made and reported. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
