Rapid qualitative and quantitative analysis of solid samples (e.g., pharmaceutical preparations) by using a small and low-resolution mass spectrometer without MS/MS function is still a challenge in ambient pressure ionization mass spectrometric analysis. Herein, a practically efficient method termed microwave-enhanced in-source decay (MEISD) using microwave plasma torch desorption ionization coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MPTDI-TOF MS) was developed for fast analysis of pharmaceutical tablets using a miniature TOF mass spectrometer without tandem mass function. The intensity of ISD fragmentation was evaluated under different microwave power values. Several factors, including desorption distance and time that might affect the signal intensity and fragmentation, were systematically investigated. It was observed that both the protonated molecular ions and major fragment ions from the active ingredients in tablets could be found in the full-scan mass spectra in positive ion mode, which were comparable to those obtained by a commercial LTQ-XL ion trap mass spectrometer. The structures of the ingredients could be elucidated in detail using the MEISD method, which promotes our understanding of the desorption/ionization processes in microwave plasma torch (MPT). Quantitative analysis of 10 tablets was achieved by full-scan MPTDI-TOF MS with low limit of detection (LOD, 0.763 mg/g), acceptable relative standard deviation (RSD < 7.33%, n =10), and 10 s for each tablet, showing promising applications in high throughput screening of counterfeit drugs. During the summer of 2015, four Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) surveys were carried out over a mussel farm in the Venetian (Italy) littoral zone at night-time hours. A qualitative and quantitative analysis of the soundscape was carried out. The high frequencies component of the soundscape (i.e above 2 kHz) was dominated by snapping shrimps sounds, while the low frequency component (i.e. below 2 kHz) was characterized by fish vocalization, mainly emitted by Sciaena umbra (Sciaenidae), with less frequent occurrences emitted by Gobidae spp. S. umbra highest vocal activity was recorded from June to August inside the mussel farm. The low frequency component of the soundscape was dominated by boat noise; in particular, low frequency noise (i.e. below 4 kHz) emitted by commercial ships and passenger cruises. The Acoustic Complexity Index (ACI) was found to increase concurrently with the number of S. umbra vocalizations: ACI highest values corresponded with S. umbra chorus recorded during July. The results of this study suggest that the mussel farm may function as a Fishery Aggregated Device (FAD), where fish might utilize it for different ecosystem services. Despite this, man-made noise was present in most of the acoustic samples, suggesting a potential impact on the local fauna.

The presented rigorous thesis aims to analyse the structural transformation of press and the subsystem of the regional as well as local press in terms of mutual connections by means of explanatory and methodological research. The subsystem characteristics are based on the content, formal and geographical concepts; the connections with the system level are clarified. The developmental trends at the micro and macro level enable to monitor the changes of the media landscape after 1989. The transformation process is divided into phases and diversity encountered in transition countries is explained. Macro-level and micro-level factors of structural transformation are analysed in detail. The concept of the system microclimate enabled to monitor the sub-media as well as media space in the context of intermediary system. This causal link is an integral part of the transformation process, which is why the finding of a common ground between the social environment and subsystem of the regional and local press promotes the understanding of the observed characteristics and also creates its own microclimate for the new resulting concepts. Boas condições de trabalho são essenciais para o bom funcionamento de uma empresa. Estas podem ser promovidas num contexto de implementação de Lean Production (melhoria organizacional) por obrigar à procura constante de melhoria contínua, questionando a forma como o trabalho é realizado. Este artigo apresenta os resultados sobre a satisfação com as condições de trabalho e a empresa através de um estudo realizado numa empresa de vestuário onde se pretendia implementar Lean Production. Para este estudo, recorreu-se a diferentes instrumentos: 1) questionário para avaliar os postos de trabalho dos colaboradores; 2) questionário para avaliar o nível de satisfação dos colaboradores com a empresa e condições de trabalho e 3) checklist para avaliar as condições ergonómicas e ambientais da empresa. Da análise dos resultados verificou-se que, em geral, os colaboradores encontravam-se satisfeitos com a empresa e as condições de trabalho, embora sentissem que determinados pontos poderiam ser melhorados. International audience; This paper presents a longitudinal analysis of the outcomes of the Italian national standardized mathematics tests. By intertwining quantitative and qualitative methods , we selected and analysed a set of linked questions among the tests administered to the same cohort of students first in grade 6 and then in grade 8. In particular, we focus on poor knowledge students and we argue an example of the analysis of two linked questions about graphical representation of fractions. The comparison between the two questions allows us to interpret some difficulties of students and to expect possible future behaviours .

Current standards and regulations demand the pharmaceutical industry not only to produce highly pure drug substances, but to achieve a thorough understanding of the impurities accompanying their manufactured drug substances and products. These challenges have become important goals of process chemistry and have steadily stimulated the search of impurities after accelerated or forced degradation procedures. As a result, impurity profiling is one of the most attractive, active and relevant fields of modern pharmaceutical analysis. This activity includes the identification, structural elucidation and quantitative determination of impurities and degradation products in bulk drugs and their pharmaceutical formulations. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has evolved into an irreplaceable approach for pharmaceutical quality assessment, currently playing a critical role in unequivocal structure identification as well as structural confirmation (qualitative detection), enabling the understanding of the underlying mechanisms of the formation of process and/or degradation impurities. NMR is able to provide qualitative information without the need of standards of the unknown compounds and multiple components can be quantified in a complex sample without previous separation. When coupled to separative techniques, the resulting hyphenated methodologies enhance the analytical power of this spectroscopy to previously unknown levels. As a result, and by enabling the implementation of rational decisions regarding the identity and level of impurities, NMR contributes to the goal of making better and safer medicines. Herein are discussed the applications of NMR spectroscopy and its hyphenated derivate techniques to the study of a wide range pharmaceutical impurities. Pagrindinis tyrimo tikslas – išnagrinėti Lietuvoje veikiančių komercinių bankų priežiūrą, kapitalo pakankamumo (mokumo) ir likvidumo rizikos normas, ribas bei reikalavimus, taip pat įvertinti kapitalo pakankamumo ir likvidumo rizikos valdymo poveikio bankų sektoriui kokybę. Straipsnį sudaro dvi dalys: literatūros ir teisės aktų analizė bei tyrimas, jo rezultatai, rekomendacijos ir išvados. Pirmoje dalyje apžvelgiama bankų priežiūros ir kapitalo pakankamumo, likvidumo rizikos valdymo lygio teorinė analizė. Tirtos bankų priežiūros institucijos ir jų veiklos reguliavimas. Pateikiami Lietuvoje veikiančių bankų kapitalo patikimumo ir likvidumo rizikos valdymo standartai, jų pokyčiai po „Bazelis III“ reformos, mokslinis požiūris į jų raidą ir griežtesnius standartus. Autorės ištyrė kapitalo pakankamumo ir likvidumo rizikos ribojimo reikalavimus, jų vertinimus ir galimybes tobulinti Lietuvoje veikiančių bankų veiklą. Analizė apėmė bankų turto ir įsipareigojimų, užtikrinančių veiklos riziką ribojančius standartus, priklausomai nuo rizikos rūšies, vertinimą. Tyrimas parodė, kad bankų kapitalo pakankamumo ir likvidumo rizikos valdyme svarbiausia yra kokybės kontrolės ir banko turto bei įsipareigojimų derinimas. Be to, siūloma peržiūrėti reikalavimų ir procedūrų kalkuliaciją, nustatyti papildomus apribojimus, siekiant užtikrinti pagrindinius standartus ir efektyvų bankų saugumą. The main purpose of the present research is to analyse the supervision, capital adequacy (solvency) and liquidity prudential norms, limits and requirements of commercial banks operating in Lithuania, as well as to assess the quality of capital adequacy and liquidity risk management impact on the banking industry. The paper consists of two main parts: the analysis of literature and legislation, and the research, its results, recommendations, and conclusions. The first part reviews the theoretical analysis of the level of banking supervision and capital adequacy, liquidity prudential standards value. The authors have examined the banks’ supervising authorities and the regulation of their activities. There are presented prudential standards of capital adequacy and liquidity for banks operating in Lithuania, their values’change after the Basel III reforms, and the scientific opinion about their development and tightening standards. The authors have carried out a study of the analysis of capital adequacy and liquidity prudential requirements, their evaluation and possibilities for improvement in banks operating in Lithuania. The analysis consists of the assessment of assets and liabilities of banks ensuring the prudential standards depending on the type of risk. The research revealed that the most important in banks’ capital adequacy and liquidity risk management is quality control and the harmonization of bank assets and liabilities. Besides, it is offered to review the calculation of requirements and procedures, to impose additional limits to ensure the basic standards and an efficient banking security.

El presente Trabajo Fin de Grado se basa en realizar un análisis de los hábitos de práctica deportiva de la población adolescente en España, concretamente en las causas de abandono de la práctica de actividad físico deportiva. Tras la revisión de numerosos trabajos de diferentes autores y de varias encuestas ya realizadas a los adolescentes españoles, hemos podido comprobar que se produce un abandono de la práctica deportiva especialmente en la etapa adolescente. Para poder indagar más detalladamente en la influencia de esos motivos que llevan a los jóvenes a abandonar, hemos analizado los factores que influyen en los hábitos deportivos y por tanto, en el abandono, concluyendo con que dichos factores son de carácter ambiental, pragmático, biológico, personal y conductual, social y psicológico, entre los cuales el profesor de Educación Física, el entrenador-monitor y el entorno familiar son cruciales. Además, hemos reflejado brevemente los motivos de práctica y no práctica deportiva para poder indagar más detalladamente en las causas de abandono. Para realizar un análisis cuantitativo y cualitativo de las causas, hemos extraído los datos que han aportado autores en sus investigaciones y analizado las encuestas realizadas en España acerca de las causas que señalan los jóvenes.

Bilimin bir çok dalında olduğu gibi gıda mühendisliğinde de mikrobiyal hücrelerin tanımlanması, makromoleküllerin yapısal analizi, organik maddelerin kalitatif ve kantitatif analizi, yapılarının aydınlatılması, stereokimyasal özelliklerinin bulunması ve saşık kontrolü gibi amaçlarla kullanılmaktadır. Infrared (IR) absorption spectroscopy is a kind of vibrational spektroscopy, IR radiation is absorbed by the molecule’s vibrational motion. Each wavelength is obtained fast and high resolution spectra without requiring individually scanning. Even a small amounts of sample are given result in a short time. As in many branches of science are used in food engineering for such purposes as identification of microbial cells, the structural analysis of macromolecules, qualitative and quantitative analysis of organic materials, structural identifications, determination of stereochemistry structures and purity control.

Σκοπός της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι η περιγραφή των σύγχρονων τεχνικών και μεθοδολογιών διαχείρισης κινδύνων, που απαιτούνται κατά την εκτέλεση έργων πληροφορικής, και η καταγραφή των κυριότερων βημάτων που εκτελούνται σε αυτές τις μεθόδους. Προκειμένου να επιτευχθεί πλήρης και σε βάθος κατανόηση της συγκεκριμένης μελέτης, η ερεύνα εστίασε τόσο στο θεωρητικό μέρος μέσω της βιβλιογραφικής ανασκόπησης, όσο και στο πρακτικό μέρος μέσω της μελέτης του Πληροφοριακό Σύστημα Ενημέρωσης (ή Πληροφοριακού Συστήματος Προβολής, Παρακολούθησης, Διαχείρισης και Προστασίας) του Μαλιακού Κόλπου στην ΠΕ Φθιώτιδας στην Π. Στερεάς Ελλάδας. Στο πρώτο μέρος της εργασίας, παρουσιάζονται όλα τα στάδια της διαδικασίας διαχείρισης κινδύνων: Εντοπισμός και ανάλυση κινδύνων, Μέθοδοι ανάπτυξης σχεδίου αντιμετώπισης κινδύνων και Παρακολούθηση σχεδίου αντιμετώπισης κινδύνων. To achieve a complete and thorough understanding of this study, the research focused both on theoretical part through the literature review, as well as the practical part through the study of the Information Awareness System (or Information System of Management, Monitoring and Protection) of Maliakos Gulf in Fthiotida Prefecture in the Region of Sterea Ellada. In the first part, the thesis presents all the stages of the risk management process: Identify and analyze risks, methods of developing risk management and monitoring plans. In the second part, the thesis analyzes the study of the Information Awareness System (or Information System of Management, Monitoring and Protection) of Maliakos Gulf in Fthiotida Prefecture in the Region of Sterea Ellada. Finally, conclusions are drawn resulting from the analysis of collected data, theoretical and practical. The generality of the methodology described, lies in the fact that all the steps for managing risks are detailed and the risks that are described are applying to all types of IT projects.

Background Burnout is the result of prolonged workplace exposure to chronic stress factors and may present itself in one of the following subtypes: “frenetic”, “under-challenged” and “worn-out”. The aims of the present study were to identify the causes of workplace discomfort that affect employees in large organizations and to determine the predictive power of these causes with regard to the burnout subtypes. Method We employed a qualitative and quantitative analysis (QQA), using a cross-sectional design with an online survey administered to a randomly selected sample of University workers (n = 409). To determine the causes of discomfort, we raised the following open question: “What aspects of your work generate discomfort for you?”. The responses were subjected to content analysis and categorized by three independent referees. The concordance between the responses was estimated with the kappa coefficient (k). Subtype classification was assessed according to the “Burnout Clinical Subtype Questionnaire” (BCSQ-36). The degree of association between the motives for the complaint and the burnout profiles was evaluated using adjusted odds ratio (OR), which was based on multivariate logistic regression models. Results The causes of discomfort included: physical environment (setting aspects, material conditions, journey/access), organization (schedules, structure, functions, interpersonal relations) and individual conditions (workload, powerlessness, rewards, negligence). The concordance index between the referees was k = 0.80. Employees who were upset with the hierarchical structure were more likely to be classified as frenetic (OR = 4.32; 95% CI = 1.43-13.06; p = 0.010); those who complained of routine duties were more likely to be classified as under-challenged (OR = 5.33; 95% CI = 1.84-15.40; p = 0.002); those whose discomfort was caused by structure control systems were more likely to be classified as worn-out (OR = 6.13; 95% CI = 1.57-23.91; p = 0.009). Conclusions The causes of discomfort among the different burnout subtypes are primarily attributable to the organization itself, in response to the structure and functions. The associations observed between the different subtypes and motives for complaint are consistent with the clinical profile-based syndrome definition, which suggests that interventions should be case-specific.

Extant research provides contradictory views on the network adaptability of existing ventures and new ventures during environmental change. This research aims to resolve the controversies by comparing the network configurations and networking actions of two entrepreneurial cohorts during the course of China s institutional change after 1992. The qualitative and quantitative analyses show that existing cohort entrepreneurs display network inertia, in that they largely maintain strong tie based political and market networks; new cohort entrepreneurs instead demonstrate better adaption by establishing fewer political networks but more weak and diverse market networks. The dissertation further shows that existing cohort demonstrates a style of network deepening while the new cohort demonstrates a style of network broadening. This dissertation unpacks the institutional mechanisms underlying such differences. This dissertation also offers several implications for institutional research into network adaptation, as well as for research into entrepreneurship and networks.

The study aimed to analyze qualitative and quantitatively, twenty-five squares located in urban area in Paranavaí / PR, verifying the importance of these spaces to the city, from analyzes based on factors such as type, insertion into the urban area, equipment and / or structures, vegetation, location and surroundings. For this, was used the methodology proposed by De Angelis (2000), which has two types of survey, a qualitative and a quantitative, developed from the application forms analyzed in each square. We tried also to raise the accessibility conditions on such thoroughfares, aimed at people with special needs (PSN), as well as information on laws creating these parks and toponyms. As a result it was found that the maintaining of these spaces need to be reviewed, because some equipment such as benches, bins, floor concepts were predominantly poor and fair, depending on its condition, functionality and / or location. On the issue of accessibility, it is noted that in the squares of Paranavaí there are lacking in ways that promote access to PSN, because only 23% have access ramps that obey the accessibility standards established under of 10% have tactile floor, only 4 % have special parking and there are no toilets and public telephones adapted for PSN. The concentration of trees belonging to the same species was observed like another negative factor of Paranavaí squares, and only two species (Caesalpinia peltophoroides - sibipiruna; Tabebuia avellanedae - purple-ipe) represent 71.7% of the afforestation of squares. Thus, through this work, we tried to point out relevant aspects that need to be reviewed and discussed, to support improvements in the policy of management of these parks, and so fulfill effectively the role of public spaces facing to socialization and recreation. O estudo em tela objetivou analisar, quali-quantitativamente, vinte e cinco praças localizadas no perímetro urbano de Paranavaí/PR, verificando a importância desses espaços para a cidade, a partir de análises baseadas em elementos como tipologia, inserção na malha urbana, equipamentos e/ou estruturas, vegetação, localização e entorno. Para tanto foi utilizada a metodologia proposta por De Angelis (2000), onde se tem dois tipos de levantamento, um qualitativo e um quantitativo, desenvolvidos a partir da aplicação de formulários em cada praça analisada. Buscou-se também levantar as condições de acessibilidade existentes nesses logradouros, voltadas para as pessoas com mobilidade reduzida (PMR), além de informações sobre leis de criação e topônimos desses logradouros. Como resultado constatou-se que a manutenção nestes espaços precisa ser revisada, uma vez que, alguns equipamentos como bancos, lixeiras, piso receberam predominantemente conceitos ruim e regular, em função de seu estado de conservação, funcionalidade e/ou localização. No quesito acessibilidade, nota-se que as praças de Paranavaí são carentes de meios que promovam o acesso à PMR, pois, apenas 23 % apresentam rampas de acesso que atendem as normas de acessibilidade estabelecidas, menos de 10% possuem piso tátil, apenas 4% contam com estacionamento especial e não há sanitários e telefones públicos adaptados para PMR. A concentração de indivíduos arbóreos pertencentes a uma mesma espécie foi outro fator negativo observado nas praças paranavaienses, sendo que, apenas duas espécies (Caesalpinia peltophoroides - sibipiruna; Tabebuia avellanedae - ipê-roxo) correspondem 71,7% da arborização das praças. Assim, através deste trabalho, procurou-se apontar aspectos de relevância que necessitam serem revistos e discutidos, para subsidiar melhoras na política de gestão destes logradouros, e assim cumprirem, efetivamente, o papel de espaços públicos voltados para a socialização e lazer. 147 f

International audience; In modern manufacturing systems, Information Technologies (IT) are closely linked to production operational functioning. To be a reliable service provider, IT Departments must ensure an adequately sized IT infrastructure, to support present and future industrial activity. As such, quantitative tools are useful for IT managers to anticipate future use of IT resources, on the basis of production-related explanatory variables. This paper proposes a modelling process to build such a tool. This modelling process is organized through two main sequences, exploratory and explanatory, and mixes qualitative and quantitative analyses. Taking advantage of the masses of data stored in modern manufacturing systems, it allows a progressive understanding of the relationships between the different domains of the IT architecture. To illustrate the application of the modelling process, this endeavour was conducted in a partnership with STMicroelectronics, to base the research upon and provide a case study. The latter established quantified links among the activities of the STMicroelectronics Manufacturing Execution System server and several manufacturing related explanatory variables. This paper demonstrates that using such statistical approaches through our modelling process, can overcome a typical issue of modern IT systems capacity planning works: establishing direct and quantified links between business and IT activities.

Bachelor thesis "Presentation of the Czech presidency in the daily Le Monde" focuses on the analysis of the media picture of the Czech Republic and its representatives on the events taking place during the first part of year 2009. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the media content was used for the treatment of data, have been categorized into four levels. The first level is concerned about the Czech euroskeptic picture, after the Czech presidency is represented by its agenda and of course by domestic political situation in the Czech republic, too. The last level of this study focuses on the evaluation by the daily Le Monde and on the next presidency which started at that moment.

The dissertation consists of an introduction and three empirical articles. The introduction gives the theoretical background, integrates the three articles, and elaborates on future research questions. The first article investigates the important decision in the lives of German and Indian university students to identify the important areas of decision making. The second article examines the structure of real life decision making and reveals the underlying factors of five major decision areas. The third article investigates the similarities and differences on decision making between German and Indian students using prior qualitative findings in a large quantitative survey.

In the last 15 years, several research efforts have been directed towards the representation and the analysis of metabolic pathways by using Petri nets. The goal of this paper is twofold. First, we discuss how the knowledge about metabolic pathways can be represented with Petri nets. We point out the main problems that arise in the construction of a Petri net model of a metabolic pathway and we outline some solutions proposed in the literature. Second, we present a comprehensive review of recent research on this topic, in order to assess the maturity of the field and the availability of a methodology for modelling a metabolic pathway by a corresponding Petri net.

cited By 70; International audience; Field-Flow Fractionation (FFF) is now recognised as a versatile pool of techniques allowing particle size or molar mass to be obtained in a wide variety of samples covering numerous applications in the fields of environment, materials or biology. In the same time, Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) has an indisputable place in the field of elemental detectors and the coupling between FFF and ICP-MS can be considered as an emerging technique capable to reach relevant physico-chemical information at sub-micrometre scale and trace element concentration level. This paper gives some key elements of FFF-based fractionation linking theory and practical analytical aspects, from injection and preconcentration to analysis. The different components of the coupling are described. Summary tables of the main operating conditions of FFF-ICP-MS coupling are presented and operating conditions such as carrier composition, flow and nebulizers are discussed. Special attention is given to the FFF-ICP-MS interface. Qualitative and quantitative analysis is also discussed. Applications in the fields of environment, bioanalysis and nanoparticles are presented in order to illustrate the potentialities of such coupling. © The Royal Society of Chemistry 2010.

International audience; The chemical reactions involved in the decomposition of 9-hydroxyellipticine (9-OH-E), an anticancer agent, in polar solvents is explained. The reactions, which involve the formation of 9-oxo-ellipticine and the addition of a nucleophilic acid on the C10 site of the heterocyclic system, have been used to measure 9-OH-E quantitatively by colorimetry in solution and by reflection on paper surfaces. A method for the stabilization of 9-OH-E in polar solvents is proposed.

In the fields of analysis, control and physical measurement, the laser constitutes a particularly powerful and multi-purpose metrological tool, capable to bring concrete solutions to various matters, including of a societal nature. Among the latter, contamination of sites and soils by heavy metals is an important issue of public health which requires to have measurement means adapted to existing regulations and whose use be sufficiently flexible. As a fast technique which does not need any sample preparation, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) offers very interesting advantages for making on-site measurements of heavy metals content at the 10-ppm level; the design of a portable system is conceivable in the medium term.In this work we first show that the femtosecond regime presents no advantages with respect to the standard nanosecond regime for our issue. Then we implement an advanced treatment of LIBS spectra by chemometric techniques whose performances significantly improve the results of qualitative and quantitative analyses of soils samples.; Dans les domaines de l'analyse, du contrôle et de la mesure physique, le laser constitue un outil métrologique particulièrement puissant et polyvalent, capable d'apporter des réponses concrètes à des problématiques variées, y compris d'ordre sociétal. Parmi ces dernières, la contamination des sites et des sols par les métaux lourds est un enjeu de santé publique important qui requiert de disposer de moyens de mesure adaptés aux réglementations existantes et suffisamment souples d'utilisation. Technique rapide et ne nécessitant pas de préparation de l'échantillon, la spectroscopie sur plasma induit par laser (LIBS) présente des avantages très intéressants pour réaliser des mesures sur site de la teneur en métaux lourds à l'échelle de la dizaine de ppm; la conception d'un appareil portable à moyen terme est envisageable.Dans cette thèse nous montrons d'abord que le régime femtoseconde ne présente pas d'avantages par rapport au régime nanoseconde standard pour notre problématique. Ensuite nous mettons en œuvre un traitement avancé des spectres LIBS par des méthodes chimiométriques dont les performances améliorent sensiblement les résultats des analyses qualitatives et quantitatives d'échantillons de sols.
