Background: Third ventricular colloid cysts are benign but may cause acute hydrocephalus, raised intracranial pressure, decreased consciousness level, and sudden death. These ventricular colloid cysts associated with stunned myocardium are rarely reported in the literature. This study reported a case of a third ventricular colloid cyst presented as acute hydrocephalus complicated with severe neurogenic pulmonary edema, stunned myocardium, and heart failure, which survived at the end. Case presentation: A 29-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with one day history of headache, vomiting, and altered consciousness level. Early brain imaging showed a cyst in the third ventricle. The patient rapidly deteriorated neurologically and developed severe pulmonary edema and heart failure requiring immediate external ventricular drain and heart failure management. Once stabilized, she underwent endoscopic excision of the ventricular cyst. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of colloidal cyst. She survived all these acute life-threatening events, improved, and stabilized, and was discharged home. She was followed up in outpatient clinics after 6 months of discharge with no symptoms or neurological deficit. Conclusion: A third ventricular colloid cyst can cause acute hydrocephalus leading to stunned myocardium requiring immediate surgical intervention, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and acute heart failure management.

Introduction Endoscopic methods have gained a well-established position in surgical treatment of colloid cysts of third ventricle. However, the possibility of total tumor removal with this method and the long-term effectiveness of treatment are being questioned. Aim Personal twenty years' experience in treatment of third ventricle colloid cysts is presented on the basis of retrospective analysis. Material and methods The study group included 58 patients diagnosed by neuroimaging (head CT/MRI) with third ventricle colloid cyst. Post-hospital follow-up ranged from 18 to 42 months. Long-term follow-up head CT/MRI was performed in 39 patients. Results The colloid cyst was removed totally in 47 (81%) patients. In 11 cases, the colloid cyst's wall was tightly adherent to the roof of the third ventricle, which limited the radicality of the procedure. Sixteen patients demonstrated memory impairments, 4 patients epilepsy and another 2 akinetic mutism in the direct postoperative course. One patient died as a result of complications unrelated to the procedure. The average hospitalization was 5 days. In the late period after surgery, remission of the most, previously, reported ailments and symptoms has been reported. Surgical treatment for hydrocephalus was needed in 7 patients. In 3 cases cyst recurrence was diagnosed which required reoperation. Conclusions The endoscopic methods allow the total removal of a third ventricle colloid cyst in most patients. Leaving a small coagulated fragment of the cyst rarely results in its recurrence. This method results in effective treatment with a low complications rate, shortens hospitalization time and brings the patient a high level of satisfaction with a quick recovery.

Ossifying fibromyxoid tumor (OFMT) is a rare fibro-osseous neoplasm. We present a case highlighting the occurrence of an intracranial OFMT masquerading as meningioma on imaging in a 46-year-old gentleman. Brain imaging revealed an extra-axial calcified lesion along the left cerebellar convexity appearing hypointense on T1- and T2-weighted MRI sequences with no post-contrast enhancement, suggestive of a meningioma. An intraventricular colloid cyst was also noted. The lesion, which was presumed to be meningioma, and the colloid cyst were resected in two subsequent operative settings. Histopathological examination of the calcified lesion confirmed the findings of an OFMT. This report aims to inform the physician about intracranial OFMT mimicking meningioma on imaging. In addition, since multiple brain tumors are not very common, the surgeon should always have a suspicion should there be any heterogeneous and peculiar radiological and histopathological characteristics.

OBJECTIVE Colloid cysts (CCs) are histologically benign lesions that carry the risk of causing obstructive hydrocephalus. The indication for surgery for symptomatic cysts is unquestioned; however, the management of incidentally detected lesions has remained controversial. We independently evaluated the CC risk score (CCRS) as a useful risk stratification scheme. METHODS The demographics, imaging characteristics, and clinical presentations of 103 patients with CC during a 10-year period were correlated with symptoms and the occurrence of hydrocephalus. The discriminate capacity of the CCRS was quantified and a decision algorithm formulated. RESULTS The correlates of symptoms included age

Colloid cysts are the commonest masses of the third ventricle. Third ventricle neoplasms are uncommon. They include tumors arising from the choroid plexus (papillomas, carcinomas), tumors arising from other than the choroid plexus (ependymomas, meningiomas), metastases, and lymphoma. Choroid plexus tumors usually occur in the lateral ventricle in children and fourth ventricle in adults, and often present with hydrocephalus. We herein describe the extremely rare occurrence of third ventricle choroid plexus papilloma in a 35-year-old man who presented to the emergency department with a long history of intermittent headaches, occasionally associated with photophobia. CT and MR imaging revealed a lobulated ovoid lesion in the third ventricle with minimal extension into the right lateral ventricle through the foramen of Monro, causing mild ventricular dilatation. Surgical resection was performed and histopathology revealed choroid plexus papilloma.

Goal. To analyze the results of surgical treatment patients with the third ventricular pathology. Objective. To improve methods of transchoroidal dissection. To make enough space for surgery of the third ventricle by expanding the foramen of Monro. To reduce the risk of surgical treatment in the pathology at the posterior compartment of the third ventricle. Materials and methods. The results of treatment of 27 patients with tumors and colloid cysts to the third ventricle were analyzed. In all 27 patients endoscopic frontal transcortical approach was performed. In 24 cases of them extended anterior choroidal dissection was performed (transchoroidal and transforaminal approach); in 3 cases — transcortical transforaminal approach (without choroidal dissection). In all case there was fully endoscopic removal (100 %). Results. Gross total resection was achieved in 14 cases, subtotal resection — in 13 cases. Karnofsky Performance Scale in the postoperative period demonstrated ≥ 70 points in all patients. Complications occurred in 4 patients (14.8 %). No postoperative mortality was observed. Conclusions. 1. Transcortical transforaminal approach can be used for the pathology in the anterior compartment of the third ventricle. 2. Transcortical transchoroidal approach can be performed for the pathology, which localized or spread into the posterior part of the third ventricle. 3. Anterior transchoroidal dissection can be combined with transforaminal approaches if the ventricular hydrocephalus is not much expressed, foramen of Monro is not much enlarged to complete transforaminal procedure as well as when the tumor spreads to the posterior compartment of the third ventricle. 4. The number of complications related to the frontal transcortical transventricular approach in our series is 14.8 %, and they had transient nature and relapsed within a month postop; no postoperative mortality.

Background Colloid cysts of the third ventricle are rare, slow-growing lesions of neuroepithelial origin. Although histopathologically benign, third ventricular colloid cysts are a well-known cause of sudden, unexpected coma and death. Several theories have been proposed to describe the rare, sudden onset of severe symptomatology and rapid clinical decline due to colloid cysts. Moreover, there is currently no clear consensus regarding the most suitable neurosurgical technique or the most effective approach for resection, nor do guidelines or standardized clinical indications exist to recommend observation versus intervention and/or resection in the asymptomatic patient. To highlight this conundrum, we present a clinical case of a hemorrhagic colloid cyst that resulted in fatality and discuss the relevant literature. Case Description A 21-year-old male presented to an outside hospital with an acute onset of a severe headache, nausea, and vomiting, which started while jogging. A few hours later, he precipitously declined into a comatose state. Radiographic imaging demonstrated a hemorrhagic third ventricular colloid cyst causing acute obstructive hydrocephalus, severe increased intracranial pressure, and downward herniation. He was then transferred to our institution for neurosurgical intervention. Despite aggressive cerebrospinal fluid drainage and medical management, he was declared brain dead several days later. Conclusions To our knowledge, this is the only case report to describe sudden-onset coma and death due to a hemorrhagic third ventricular colloid cyst occurring after exercising. We review the literature on fatal colloid cysts emphasizing the proposed mechanisms of sudden death and current neurosurgical management in both asymptomatic and symptomatic patients.

Background Endoscopic and microneurosurgical approaches to third ventricular lesions are commonly performed under general anesthesia. Objective To report our initial experience with awake transsulcal parafascicular corridor surgery (TPCS) of the third ventricle and its safety, feasibility, and limitations. Methods A total of 12 cases are reviewed: 6 colloid cysts, 2 central neurocytomas, 1 papillary craniopharyngioma, 1 basal ganglia glioblastoma, 1 thalamic glioblastoma, and 1 ependymal cyst. Lesions were approached using TPCS through the superior frontal sulcus. Pre-, intra-, and postoperative neurocognitive (NC) testing were performed on all patients. Results No cases required conversion to general anesthesia. Awake anesthesia changed intraoperative management in 4/12 cases with intraoperative cognitive changes that required port re-positioning; 3/4 recovered. Average length of stay (LOS) was 6.1 d ± 6.6. Excluding 3 outliers who had preoperative NC impairment, the average LOS was 2.5 d ± 1.2. Average operative time was 3.00 h ± 0.44. Average awake anesthesia time was 5.05 h ± 0.54. There were no mortalities. Conclusion This report demonstrated the feasibility and safety of awake third ventricular surgery, and was not limited by pathology, size, or vascularity. The most significant factor impacting LOS was preoperative NC deficit. The most significant risk factor predicting a permanent NC deficit was preoperative 2/3 domain impairment combined with radiologic evidence of invasion of limbic structures - defined as a "NC resilience/reserve" in our surgical algorithm. Larger efficacy studies will be required to demonstrate the validity of the algorithm and impact on long-term cognitive outcomes, as well as generalizability of awake TPCS for third ventricular surgery.

Neuroendoscopic resection of colloid cysts has gained tremendous popularity over the last 2 decades because of good clinical outcomes and a low complication profile. However, in comparison to microsurgical resections, endoscopic resection has a lower rate of gross-total resection, which leaves the patient at risk for cyst recurrence. At present, there is still ongoing debate as to the best surgical approach for colloid cysts. Endoscopic resection as a technique has to compete with the good outcomes of microsurgical resections with respect to a long-term recurrence-free outcome. It is the authors’ belief that gross-total resection should be the aim of endoscopic cyst resection. In this technical note, they describe their surgical technique for achieving safe gross-total resection of colloid cysts by using a ventriculoscopic system. The surgical technique includes a far anterolateral entry point, navigational guidance, bimanual sharp dissection, use of the endoscopic sheath as a retractor, the small-chamber irrigation technique, and the dry-field technique for hemostasis.

An intracranial colloid cyst is a rare, slow-growing cyst typically found near the foramen of Monro. The mechanisms of its origin are still debated. It has a reported occurrence of 0.2%–2% of all intracranial tumours. A nasopharyngeal/Tornwaldt's cyst is also a rare developmental benign cyst commonly present in the midline of the posterior nasopharynx with a reported incidence of 1.4%–3.3% on autopsy specimens and 0.2%–5% on magnetic resonance imaging. To the best of our knowledge, while a few reports are available where these have been reported separately in different patients, the contemporaneous coexistence of these 2 cysts in the same patient has not been reported before.

Colloid cysts (CCs) are rare brain tumors that cause nonspecific neurological signs associated with acute or chronic increased intracranial pressure. They are usually located in the third ventricle and rarely in the lateral ventricle. This is a report of an unusual case of CC located in the lateral ventricle. A 36-year-old male patient presented a story of progressive holocranial headache that would get worse with head mobilization and cough. Radiological analysis demonstrated enlargement of the right lateral ventricle due to a cyst blocking the right foramen of Monro. The patient underwent endoscopic neurosurgery and the cyst was totally resected. Histological evaluation diagnosed a CC. Postoperative images showed no cyst remaining and normalized ventricular size. The patient evolved with total improvement of the symptoms. Literature review shows that it is a very uncommon entity. Lateral ventricle CCs as a cause for unilateral hydrocephalus is a very rare entity. Neuroendoscopic approach is a first-line treatment option for this condition.

A rare case of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) of septum pellucidum is being reported. There were symptoms of altered behaviour, memory and changes in sensorium. The MRI was suggestive of a tumour arising from the septum pellucidum. Glioblastomas arising from septum pellucidum are rare. While even a partial endoscopic excision of the more common pathology viz. colloid cyst is acceptable, only, a safe maximal excision of a highly malignant pathology like glioblastoma is an acceptable goal in order to give any benefit of surgical exploration to the patient.

Background Endoscopic removal of third ventricular colloid cysts has grown in popularity. The biggest issues concern radicality, cure or at least long-term control of the disease, and endoscopic remnants. Technologic advances in instrumentation and introduction of novel tools have greatly improved endoscopic results. Deeper knowledge of surrounding anatomy and awareness that colloid cysts vary in their position (foraminal or retroforaminal) can further improve with the selection of a tailored approach for each patient. Methods During the last 12 years, 22 colloid cysts were treated endoscopically in our centers. Cysts were classified into 3 groups: A, foraminal (n = 6); B, foraminal with retroforaminal extension (n = 10); C, retroforaminal (n = 6). The following entry points and trajectories were selected: precoronal foraminal (n = 7), precoronal retroforaminal (n = 4), precoronal combined retroforaminal/foraminal (n = 5), supraorbital foraminal (n = 6). Navigation guidance was used in 17 cases. Results Major complications resulted in permanent deficits in 1 case, and 2 other patients experienced transient memory impairment. Remnants were noted by surgeon's intraoperative assessment in 6 cases; only 2 remnants were large, whereas the others were small bits of coagulated cyst stem. In 18 cases, no remnant was found on postoperative magnetic resonance imaging. Conclusions A traditional precoronal transforaminal approach should be considered only for pure foraminal cysts (group A), as the retroforaminal component is poorly controlled. Retroforaminal cysts (groups B and C) should be resected through a retroforaminal transpellucidum interfornicialis route. A supraorbital transforaminal approach is a more versatile approach suitable for most cases.

Surgery for intraventricular tumors remains a controversial and evolving field, with endoscopic resection becoming more popular. We present a series of nine consecutive cases of purely endoscopic resection of intraventricular tumors with the aid of an ultrasonic aspirator specific for neuroendoscopy. Nine patients (five men, four women) aged 18-74 years (mean 43.7) underwent surgery. The most common symptom was headache. In all cases, magnetic resonance imaging showed single supratentorial intraventricular lesions (five lateral ventricle, four third ventricle). The average maximum diameter was 20.5 mm (range 11-42). Associated hydrocephalus was found in eight cases at diagnosis. Five patients underwent complete macroscopic resection. Three underwent subtotal resection and one underwent partial resection (two thirds of the tumor). The mean endoscopic procedure time was 70 min (37-209). The eight patients with associated hydrocephalus also underwent endoscopic septostomy to improve cerebral spinal fluid circulation, with one patient additionally requiring endoscopic third ventriculostomy and another requiring Monro foraminoplasty. One patient required ventriculoperitoneal shunting. The mean post-operative follow-up was 15.1 months (range 2-33). At the time of analysis, no patient showed recurrence or regrowth of the operated lesion. The histological diagnoses and degree of resection were three subependymomas with complete resection, three colloid cysts with two complete and one subtotal resection, one pilocytic astrocytoma with partial resection (approximately two thirds of the lesion), one epidermoid tumor with subtotal resection, and one central neurocytoma with subtotal resection. The endoscopic ultrasonic surgical aspirator can be a safe and effective tool for the removal of intraventricular tumors, even in firmer solid lesions.

Objective Clinical significance and management of asymptomatic colloid cysts of the third ventricle is not well defined. The aim of this study was to investigate the risk of cyst progression necessitating surgical intervention during a surveillance period. Methods A systematic pooled analysis of the literature was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A comprehensive search (conducted in December 2017) in MEDLINE and EMBASE databases, identified eligible studies. Data related to demographic (sex, age, size), clinical (surgical intervention, acute neurological deterioration, cyst related mortality) and radiological outcomes (cyst stability, progression, regression) were extrapolated and analysed. Results Of the 134 manuscripts identified, only 4 retrospective studies (176 patients) met the inclusion criteria. The level of evidence provided by these studies was low. During a median follow up of 61.2 months (IQR 41.6–70.1), 11 patients (8.6%, 95% CI 4.7–14.9) required surgical intervention due to either clinical or radiological progression. One patient experienced an acute neurological decline (0.8%, 95% CI −0.3–4.7), which eventuated in death a few years later. There were no reported cases of sudden death during this period. On radiological follow up, 86.7% (95% CI 78.5–92.2) of cysts remained stable, 11.2% (95% CI 6.2–19.2) progressed, and 2.0% (95% CI 0.1–7.6) regressed in size. Conclusion For incidental colloid cysts deemed appropriate for conservative management, there is a 5–15% risk of future progression necessitating operative intervention in the 5 years following diagnosis. The data presented supports the need for ongoing surveillance neuroimaging for asymptomatic colloid cysts.

Colloid cysts typically reside within the area of the anterior third ventricle, in the proximity of the foramen of Monro. Although they are considered to commonly localize in various parts of the cerebrum, they are exceedingly rare outside the ventricular system and rarely occur within the velum interpositum. We have reported here a rare case of a velum interpositum colloid-like cyst in a 23-year-old man, who presented to our clinic with temporary binocular strabismus, which he had been experiencing for the previous year. In addition, we have briefly reviewed evidence regarding the generation, anatomy, and pathogenesis of colloid cysts, as well as the management options for such rare cases. The present report is only the third to describe a colloid-like cyst located within the velum interpositum, providing additional data that may aid in elucidating the pathogenesis of these neoplasms.

Objective Minimally invasive transportal resection of deep intracranial lesions has become a widely accepted surgical technique. Many disposable, mountable port systems are available in the market for this purpose, like the ViewSite Brain Access System. The objective of this study was to find a cost-effective substitute for these systems. Methods Deep-seated brain lesions were treated with a port system made from disposable syringes. The syringe port could be inserted through minicraniotomies placed and planned with navigation. All deep-seated lesions like ventricular tumours, colloid cysts, deep-seated gliomas, and basal ganglia hemorrhages were treated with this syringe port system and evaluated for safety, operative site hematomas, and blood loss. Results 62 patients were operated on during the study period from January 2015 to July 2017, using this innovative syringe port system for deep-seated lesions of the brain. No operative site hematoma or contusions were seen along the port entry site and tract. Conclusions Syringe port is a cost-effective and safe alternative to the costly disposable brain port systems, especially for neurosurgical setups in developing countries for minimally invasive transportal resection of deep brain lesions.

We present a detailed report of an awake craniotomy for recurrent third ventricular colloid cyst in a patient with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension in the setting of Eisenmenger syndrome, performed 6 weeks after we managed the same patient for a more conservative procedure. This patient has a high risk of perioperative mortality and may be particularly susceptible to peri-operative hemodynamic changes or fluid shifts. The risks of general anesthesia induction and emergence must be balanced against the risks inherent in an awake craniotomy on a per case basis.

Objective: To study the efficacy of transcallosal, transforaminal approach in excision of colloid cysts of third ventricle in terms of complete excision and post-operative complications. Study Design: Prospective observational study. Place and Duration of Study: Study was carried out in neurosurgery department of CMH Rawalpindi, from July 2009 to Jun 2014. Material and Methods: All suspected cases were subjected to CT scan and MRI of brain for diagnosis and size and site of colloid cyst. All patients having colloid cyst of anterior third ventricle irrespective of age, sex and size of the cyst were included in the study. Patients with recurrence or previous surgery were excluded from the study. Patients with psychiatric illness and abnormalities of memory were also excluded. A uniform approach in terms of position of patients, craniotomy site and flap elevation was adopted for all patients. Post operatively the complications were recorded at 2nd day and 6th week. Derangement of short and long term memory, beads stringing and touch localization were recorded on a specific proforma. Results: A total of 19 patients with colloid cyst of 3rd ventricle were included, thirteen were male and 6 were female patients. The most common presentation was headache and vomiting. Most frequent cyst size was 1-2 cm and was present in 57.9%, while 4 patients presented with a large cystic swelling measuring 2-3 cm. A preoperative shunt had to be inserted in two cases due to sudden deterioration of the neurological status. Most of the cases (68.4%) presented with hydrocephalus, and it was absent only in 6 cases. Complete excision was obtained in 17 cases while in 2 cases the cyst could not be removed completely. Most frequent complication on 2nd postoperative day was the impaired short term memory which was present in 13 patients. Beads stringing was impaired in 9 patients on 2nd post-operative day. On sixth post-operative week, only 2 cases had short term memory loss as improvement occurred in all complications. Conclusion: Transcallosal, transforaminal approach is an effective and safe approach for the excision of colloid cysts of anterior third ventricle. The aim of this article was to determine the efficacy and safety of the combined use of ethanol and microwave (MWA) to thyroid cysts and explore the differences of various cysts.A total of 136 patients and 142 thyroid cystic nodules and predominantly cystic nodules received combination therapy of ethanol and MWA between January 2016 and December 2019 in BeiJing Friendship Hospital. They were divided into different groups according to the size, and the characteristics of fluid aspirated. We compared the Initial size, treatment procedure, postoperative complications, and follow-up results to analyze the characteristics of different groups.The combination treatments reduced the size of cysts by more than 93% with less complications at the end of follow-up. The treatment duration was longest in the colloid cysts (difference from the clear-fluid group, p 0.01), the absolute volume of the clear-fluid group at the end of follow-up was the smallest (difference from the other two groups: P 0.01).There were the similar mean volume reduction rate (VRR) between the large cysts and the small cysts (p0.05).The combination treatments were applicable to all types of cysts. Understanding the characteristics of different cystic nodules and adopting different methods are helpful for us to carry out the minimally invasive treatment of cysts better.

Colloid cysts (CC) occur predominantly in the midline with majority involving roof of the third ventricle. In cases of cavum septum pellucidum (CSP), the surgeon can lose orientation when normal intraventricular structures are not encountered during surgery. We report a patient with CSP, who underwent right frontal parasagittal craniotomy, interhemispheric, transcallosal approach to reach the lesion. Lesion may not be seen in its usual location of foramen of Monroe, and entering the cavum may be confusing because no intraventricular landmarks will be seen. Excision of the cyst through the cavum usually requires interfornicial approach, and this structure must be separated gently to avoid injury.

Introdução: Cisto colóide é um tumor benigno, de crescimento lento, porém sua localização mais freqüente implica em grande morbimortalidade pela possível associação com hidrocefalia obstrutiva aguda e hipertensão intracraniana. Cisto colóide do III ventrículo representa 0,5 a 1% dos tumores intracranianos primários e 15% a 20% de todos os tumores intraventriculares.Materiais e Métodos: Artigo de revisão realizado com levantamento em base de dados Medline/Pubmed e LILACS, incluído período de 1960 a 2007, com prioridade para artigos com o maior nível de evidência. Resultados: Foram identificados 407 artigos, com 47 considerados como relato de com caso com revisão ou revisão pura. Neste trabalho decrevemos também a aplicação daressecção por neuroendoscopia associada com laser. Conclusões: Cistos colóides são lesões raras, com diagnóstico e tratamento controversos. Cirurgia endoscópica é uma opção de tratamento e em muitos estudos descrita com aplicação preferencial comparada aos demais acessos descritos notratamento dessas lesões.

Objectives The endoscopic approach increasingly is used to treat third ventricular colloid cysts. Our objective was to assess the results of endoscopic resection of colloid cysts of the third ventricle. Methods A retrospective study was designed, and a series of 112 consecutive patients (76 male, 36 female) with third ventricular colloid cyst treated by endoscopic surgery was undertaken. Results We found that the most common clinical presentations in patients with third ventricular colloid cyst were headache, vomiting, and impaired vision. Complete resection was obtained in majority of patients (92%). Meningitis, hemiparesis, and memory deficits occurred most commonly as postoperative complications. Conclusions High rates of complete resection of third ventricular colloid cysts, with low morbidity and mortality, are possible with an endoscopic approach. The results of this study support the role of endoscopic resection in the treatment of patients with third ventricular colloid cysts as a safe and effective modality and show how endoscopic resection of third ventricular colloid cysts can produce favorable results.

Context: Colloid cyst is a rare tumour of the brain that has a good outcomeupon surgical removal. Aims: We present the outcome of surgical management of colloid cystat our setup based on the experience of last ten years. Study Design, Setting and Period: Thetype of study is a retrospective review of cases of third ventricular colloid cyst operated at theDepartment of Neurosurgery, Civil Hospital Karachi, Pakistan, from January 2005 to December2015. Methods and Material: The patient’s data including the clinical records, radiographicdata, operative and follow up notes were studied. The patient population was divided intogroups based upon the size of the cyst. The surgical approaches utilized were the transfrontaltransventricular and transcallosal approach. All the patients also underwent a series of tests todetermine the function of the somatosensory, motor and memory functions both pre and postoperatively and upon follow up. Statistical analysis used: Data was analyzed using SPSSversion 23. Mean and standard deviation was used for continuous variables, while frequencyand percentage was used for categorical variables. Results: The study population n= 60patient, n= 36 males and n= 24 females. The size distribution of the cyst was, n= 4 (6.66%)were less than 1.5cm, n=47 (78.33%) were 1.5-3cm and n=9 (15%) were >3cm. Headachewas the most common presenting complaint. Papilledema was observed in 71.66% of thepatients, while memory changes were observed in 8.33% of the patients. The surgical excisionof the cyst was performed in n= 52, patients while ventriculoperitoneal shunt was performed inn= 8 patients. Conclusions: According to the results of our study the transcallosal approach, isa safe technique, in which the neurological damage is limited due to minimal callosotomy andmanoeuvring of the fornix.
