Pharmacochemistry and integrated pharmacokinetics of six alkaloids (groenlandicine, berberine, palmatine, epiberberine, jatrorrhizine, and columbamine) after oral administration of Huang-Lian-Jie-Du-Tang (HLJDT) decoction were investigated in this paper. The method of plasma pharmacochemistry was applied to predict the potential bioactive components in HLJDT decoction. Based on the accurate molecular weight, 10 components including 2 flavonoids (baicalin and wogonoside), 1 iridoid glycoside (geniposide), and 7 alkaloids (above-mentioned 6 alkaloids and coptisine) were structurally identified. Then, integrated pharmacokinetics of the alkaloids in Sprague-Dawley rats after oral administration of HLJDT decoction was investigated by HPLC method. The results showed that the pharmacokinetic behaviors of the alkaloids were different although their chemical structures were similar. This study developed a method to predict the potential bioactive components in HLJDT decoction and research the pharmacokinetic behaviors of the potential bioactive components.

The effect of an ac electric field on quantum transport properties in a system of three quantum dots, two of which are connected in parallel while the third is coupled to one of the other two, is investigated theoretically. Based on the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green's function method, the spin-dependent current, occupation number and spin accumulation can be obtained in our model. An external magnetic flux, Rashba spin orbit coupling (SOC) and intradot Coulomb interactions are considered. The magnitude of the spin-dependent average current and the positions of the photon assisted tunneling (PAT) peaks can be accurately controlled and manipulated by simply varying the strength of the coupling and the frequency of the ac field. A particularly interesting result is the observation of a new kind of PAT peak and a multiple electron-photon pump effect that can generated and controlled by the coupling between the quantum dots. Using standard quantum network method, we analytically investigate the effect of Rashba spin–orbit coupling (RSOC) and a magnetic field on the spin transport properties of a polygonal quantum ring. Using Landauer–Buttiker formula, we have found that the polarization direction and phase of transmitted electrons can be controlled by both the magnetic field and RSOC. A device to generate a spin-polarized conductance in a polygon with an arbitrary number of sides is discussed. This device would permit precise control of spin and selectively provide spin filtering for either spin up or spin down simply by interchanging the source and drain.

To isolate and identify the chemical constituents from the flowers of Ailanthus altissima.Macroporous adsorptive resins (DM130), Silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, ODS were employed for the isolation and purification of chemical constituents. The structures were identified on the basis of spectral data and physicochemical examination.Eight compounds were isolated and identified as follows: brevifolin (1), brevifolin carboxylic acid (2), methyl brevifolin carboxylate (3), ellagic acid (4), diethyl-2,2',3,3',4,4'- hexahydroxybiphenyl-6,6'-dicarboxylate (5), rutin (6), gallic acid (7), ethyl gallate (8).Compounds 1 -5 are isolated from this genus for the first time.

CBF (C-repeat-binding factor) transcription factor exists widely in all kinds of plants. It is an important regulative factor in the process of plant resistance adversity. In this paper, Camellia sinensis CBF1 gene sequence was analyzed by Codon W, CHIPS, and CUSP programs online, and then compared with C. sinensis genes, genomes in other species, and CBF genes from 39 plant species. It is important to identify the codon usage of CsCBF1 gene and select appropriate expression systems. The results showed that CsCBF1 gene and selected 70 C. sinensis genes had distinct usage differences. CsCBF1 gene was bias toward the synonymous codons with G and C at the third codon position, but 70 C. sinensis genes were bias toward the synonymous codons with A and T. The differences in codon usage frequency between CsCBF1 gene and dicotyledons such as Arabidopsis thaliana and Nicotiana tobacum were less than monocotyledons such as wheat (Triticum aestivum) and corn (Zea mays). Therefore, A. thaliana and N. tobacum expression systems may be more suitable for the expression of CsCBF1 gene. The analysis results of CBF genes from 40 plant species also showed that most of the CBF genes were bias toward the synonymous codons with G and C at the third codon position. The reason of this phenomenon is possible due to special functions of these genes.

Employing the Green's function method, we investigate the Josephson current through a quantum dot side coupled to a topological superconducting nanowire sustaining a pair of Majorana zero modes. It is found that the Josephson current is blocked when the quantum dot is side coupled to a superconducting nanowire in a topologically trivial phase. However, when the topological superconducting nanowire transitions from a topologically trivial to a topologically non-trivial phase, an Andreev bound state arises at the zero Fermi energy of the quantum dot due to leakage of the Majorana zero mode. Thus a Josephson current can be induced by leakage of the Majorana zero mode into the quantum dot. The Josephson current shows a plateau-like structure and a clear-cut trivial/non-trivial phase transition, as a function of a Zeeman field imposed on the system. The transition and plateau-like structure can be used to probe the existence of the Majorana zero mode. The current-phase relation has also been studied.

Background The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of C-reactive protein/oxidised low-density lipoprotein/β2-glycoprotein I (CRP/oxLDL/β2GPI) complex on atherosclerosis (AS) in diabetic BALB/c mice. Methods BALB/c mice were fed high-fat and normal diet. Eight weeks later, the mice fed with high-fat diet were injected with streptozotocin (STZ) to induce diabetes. The diabetic mice were respectively injected twice monthly with 20 μg oxLDL, 20 μg β2GPI, 40 μg oxLDL/β2GPI complex, 44 μg CRP/oxLDL/β2GPI complex, and PBS. Aortas were stained with Sudan IV to investigate lipid plaque formation. The infiltration condition of smooth muscle cells (SMCs), macrophages, and T cells in the aortas were determined by immunohistochemistry (IH). The mRNA expressions of receptors associated with lipid metabolism were quantified by real-time PCR. The phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38MAPK) and MKK3/6 in aorta tissues were assessed by Western blot. The expression of inflammation cytokines was evaluated by protein chip. Results The lipid plaques were more extensive, the lumen area was obviously narrower, the ratio of intima and media thickness were increased, and the normal internal elastic lamia structure and endothelial cell disappeared (P < 0.05) in the oxLDL and CRP/oxLDL/β2GPI groups (P < 0.05). CRP/oxLDL/β2GPI complex dramatically promoted infiltration of SMCs, macrophages, and T cells, improved the mRNA expression of ABCA1 and ABCG1, but reduced the mRNA expression of SR-BI and CD36 and increased the phosphorylation of p38MAPK and MKK3/6 (all P < 0.05). The highest expression levels of IL-1, IL-9, PF-4, bFGF, and IGF-II were detected in the CRP/oxLDL/β2GPI group (P < 0.05). Conclusions CRP/oxLDL/β2GPI complex aggravated AS in diabetic BALB/c mice by increasing lipid uptake, the mechanism of which may be mediated by the p38MAPK signal pathway.

SUMMARY Aims: Stroke is a major cause of disability and death worldwide. Hypertension is one of the most important risk factors for stroke. The objective of this work was to study the synergic effects of levamlodipine and bisoprolol on blood pressure reduction and organ protection in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). Methods: Blood pressure was continuously monitored in conscious SHR. For acute study, a single dose of drugs was administrated via an intragastric catheter. For chronic study (4 months), drugs were delivered via rat chow. Results: A single dose of levamlodipine (from 1 mg/kg), bisoprolol (from 0.125 mg/kg), and their combinations significantly decreased blood pressure. The levamlodipine-induced tachycardia and the bisoprolol-induced bradycardia were temporized by the combination of these two drugs. Upon chronic treatment, this combination also decreased blood pressure variability and reduced organ damage. Conclusion: Levamlodipine and bisoprolol produce synergic effects on blood pressure reduction and organ protection in SHR.

OBJECTIVE: To study the chemical constituents of the n-BuOH fraction of 95% ethanolic extract of leaves of Neoalsomitra integrifoliola. METHOD: The compounds were isolated with kinds of column chromatography. The structures were determined by MS and NMR spectroscopic techniques. RESULT: Eight compounds were isolated from the n-BuOH fraction of 95% ethanolic extract and their structures were identified as 2-phenylethyl rutinoside (1), rutin (2), kaempferol-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (3), isorhamnetin-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (4), methyl chlorogenate (5), guanosine (6), adenosine (7), myo-inositol (8), respectively. CONCLUSION: All compounds were isolated from this genus for the first time.

Herein we introduce a novel strategy based on capillary force lithography (CFL) to fabricate asymmetric polymeric ring structures by applying both shear and nomal forces to a poly(dimethylsiloxane) stamp. The mechanism for the formation of asymmetric rings is caused by the deflection of cylindrical PDMS pillars due to the shear load, which is therefore termed deflected CFL (dCFL). The asymmetric polymeric rings could be readily transferred to an underlying gold layer to generate split ring structures with tunable opening angles. Asymmetric structures based upon trigular and square-shaped pillars were also fabricated. These elements were formed into periodic arrays over surface areas as large as 1 cm(2) and may have optical and electromagnetic applications.

Employing the Keldysh Nonequilibrium Green’s function method, we investigate time-dependent transport through a topological superconductor with Majorana bound states in the presence of a high frequency microwave field. It is found that Majorana bound states driven by photon-assisted tunneling can absorb(emit) photons and the resulting photon-assisted tunneling side band peaks can split the Majorana bound state that then appears at non-zero bias. This splitting breaks from the current opinion that Majorana bound states appear only at zero bias and thus provides a new experimental method for detecting Majorana bound states in the Non-zero-energy mode. We not only demonstrate that the photon-assisted tunneling side band peaks are due to Non-zero-energy Majorana bound states, but also that the height of the photon-assisted tunneling side band peaks is related to the intensity of the microwave field. It is further shown that the time-varying conductance induced by the Majorana bound states shows negative values for a certain period of time, which corresponds to a manifestation of the phase coherent time-varying behavior in mesoscopic systems.

Metal-mesh lithography (MML) is a practical hybrid of microcontact printing and capillary force lithography that can be applied over millimeter-sized areas with a high level of uniformity. MML can be achieved by blotting various inks onto substrates through thin copper grids, relying on preferential wetting and capillary interactions between template and substrate for pattern replication. The resulting mesh patterns, which are inverted relative to those produced by stenciling or serigraphy, can be reproduced with low micrometer resolution. MML can be combined with other surface chemistry and lift-off methods to create functional microarrays for diverse applications, such as periodic islands of gold nanorods and patterned corrals for fibroblast cell cultures.

Stiffness is one of the most important factors to vibration isolation system. Paper established a finite element model of the air spring, used nonlinear finite element method to analysis the rectangular shape air spring's stiffness. By considering the nonlinearity of the rubber-cord composite material, the geometric nonlinear process caused by large deformation and the nonlinear contact between the rigid base plate and the flexible capsule, paper calculated and plotted the characteristic curve of air springs, and analyzed the influence of cord angle, cord spacing and number of cord layers on the air spring's lateral stiffness characteristics. The finite element method results are consistent with the test results, which proved the method is feasible.

Three new dimeric prenylated C6-C3 compounds, namely, illicidiones A (1), B (2), and C (3), were isolated from the stem bark of Illicium oligandrum. The structure and absolute configuration of these compounds were determined by extensive spectroscopic and chemical analyses, including NMR, modified Mosher method, and single-crystal X-ray study. Compounds 1-3 exhibited weak anti-inflammatory activities.

In order to provide the services for the users efficiently and select suitable SP and the service automatically according to the user's preference and habits when using the service, the paper apples the context-aware technology to the Service Selection Platform and picks out the Context-aware Service Selection Platform is proposed. The method is using the exiting Context-aware architecture to obtain the context information including Service Context, Network Context and User Context using context-aware framework. The system computes the QoS value of several similar services, which carries the user preference information. The result is a key indicator to service validation, service evaluation and service decisions. The Service Selection Architecture reflects user needs and user preferences well.

Eleven prenylated C(6)-C(3) compounds, illioliganpyranone A (1), illioliganfunone A-D (2-5), and illioliganone D-I (6-11), together with five known prenylated C(6)-C(3) compounds (12-16), were isolated from roots of Illicium oligandrum. The structures of 1-11 were elucidated by spectroscopic methods including 1D and 2D NMR, HRESIMS, and CD experiments. Possible biosynthetic pathways to compounds 1-16 derived from a common precursor of 5-allylbenzene-1,2,4-triol were postulated. All compounds were evaluated for cytotoxic activities against five human cancer cell lines (HCT-8, Bel-7402, BGC-823, A549 and A2780). Compound 15 exhibited significant cytotoxicity against HCT-8, BGC-823, A549, and A2780 cell lines with IC(50) values of 0.30-2.57 μM. Compound 16 showed moderate selective cytotoxicity against sensitive A2780 cells with IC(50) value of 1.38 μM.

A 65-kD mdr1 (multi-drug resistance protein 1, P-glycoprotein)-like protein has been suggested to be the regulatory protein to the chloride channel protein 3 (ClC-3) mediating insulin granules acidification and release in mouse pancreatic beta cells. But the protein has not been deeply investigated. In this study, we identified existence of the 65-kda protein in rat islets and preliminarily explored its biological functions.Total RNAs of rat kidneys served as positive controls, and pancreas, islets and INS-1 cells were extracted for reverse-transcript PCR (RT-PCR), respectively. The cDNAs were run with specific primers selected from the mRNA of abcb1b encoding P-glycoprotein. All PCR products were visualized in agarose gel electrophoresis and sequenced. Homogenates of rat islets and INS-1 cells were applied to SDS-PAGE. P-glycoprotein was detected by a specific monoclonal antibody, C219. Biphasic insulin release was measured in static incubations of rat islets with radioimmunology assay.Compared with positive control, expression of the P-glycoprotein mRNA segments were detected in the islets, INS-1 cells and pancreas. Sequence analysis confirmed that the PCR products were matched with mRNA of P-glycoprotein. A 65-kda protein was recognized by the antibody in the islets homogenate but not in that of INS-1 cells in Western-blotting. Instead, the homogenate of INS-1 cells contained a 160-kda protein recognized by the antibody. Insulin secretion of rat islets were stimulated by high glucose (16.7 mmol/L), and showed biphasic curve during 60-minute incubation. After co-incubation with cyclosporine A (CsA), specific inhibitor to P-glycoprotein, the second phase of insulin secretion was reduced significantly while the first phase was not influenced.The 65-kda protein expressed in rat islets is most likely a mini-P-glycoprotein. It may play a key role regulating biphasic insulin release.

Ambient water nanofilms confined on solid surfaces usually show properties not seen in bulk and play unique roles in many important processes. Here we report diffusion and self-assembly of peptides in ambient water nanofilms on mica, based on "drying microcontact printing" and ex situ atomic force microscopy imaging. We found that diffusion and self-assembly of several peptides in the water nanofilms on mica resulted in one-dimensional "epitaxial" nanofilaments. The peptide self-assembly process is sensitive to the amount of water on the surface, and different peptides with varied molecular structures show different humidity-dependent behaviors. In addition, some peptides that cannot form nanofilaments on substrates in bulk water can be successfully self-assembled into nanofilaments in the water nanofilm.

To study the ethyl acetate soluble constituents from the water extractive of Huanglian Jiedutang decoction, which are composed of Rhizoma Coptidis, Radix Scutellariae, Cortex Phellodendri and Fructus Gardeniae, and provide substances foundation for its pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic investigation.The chemical constituents were isolated by various column chromatographic methods and structurally elucidated by NMR and MS techniques.Thirty-five compounds were isolated, among which twenty compounds have been identified as beta-sitosterol (1), oroxylin A (2), wogonin (3), ursolic acid (4), skullcapflavone I (5), tenaxin I (6), skullcapflavone II (7), limonin (8), 5, 2'-dihydroxy-6, 7, 8, 3'-tetramethoxyflavone (9), chrysin (12), baicalein (17), tenaxin II (19), 5, 7, 2'-trihydroxy-6, 8-dimethoxyflavone (21), shihulimonin A (22), 6, 2'-dihydroxy-5, 7, 8, 6'-tetramethoxyflavone (26), viscidulin II (28), 5, 7, 4'-trihydroxy-8-methoxyflavone (29), 5, 7, 2', 6'-tetrahydroxyflavone (30), wogonin-7-O-beta-D-glucuronide methyl ester (31) and daucosterol (34).On the basis of reported results of the chemical constituents of Rhizoma Coptidis, Radix Scutellariae, Cortex Phellodendri and Fructus Gardeniae, it was estimated that all flavonoid compounds rised from the Radix Scutellariae, and compounds 8 and 22 rised from Cortex Phellodendri. Compound 22 was identified in the Cortex Phellodendri for the first time.

Mutations in the unc-104 gene of the nematode C. elegans result in uncoordinated and slow movement. Transposon insertions in three unc-104 alleles ( e2184, rh 1016 , and rh1017 ) were used as physical markers to clone the unc-104 gene. DNA sequence analysis of unc-104 cDNAs revealed an open reading frame capable of encoding a 1584 amino acid protein with similarities to kinesin heavy chain. The similarities are greatest in the aminoterminal ATPase and microtubule-binding domains. Although the primary sequence relatedness to kinesin is weak in the remainder of the molecule, the predicted secondary structure and regional isoelectric points are similar to kinesin heavy chain.

To study the chemical constituents of the roots of Capparis tenera.The chemical constituents were isolated and repeatedly purified by kinds of column chromatography and the structures were elucidated by the NMR spectra and physicochemical properties.Eight compounds were isolated and identified as erigeside C (1), glucosuringic acid (2), vanillic acid 4-O-beta-D-glucoside (3-methoxy 4-glucosyl-benzoic acid) (3), 4-O-beta-D-glucopyranosylbenzoate (4), 3', 5'-dimethoxy- 4-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-cinnamic acid (5), tachioside (6), 2, 3-dihydroxy-1-(4-hydroxyl-3, 5-dimethoxyphenyl)-1-propanone (7) and acacetin 7-rutinoside (8).Compounds 1-8 were all isolated from this plant for the first time and the compound 8 was isolated from this gene for the first time.

Converters for telecom DC/DC power supply applications often require an output voltage somewhere within a wide range of input voltages. While the design of traditional converters will come with a heavy penalty in terms of component stresses and losses, and with the restrictions on the output voltage. Besides that, the high efficiency around the nominal input is another restriction for traditional converters. A controlling scheme for the four switch buck-boost converter is proposed to achieve high efficiency within the line range and the highest efficiency around the nominal input. A 48 V(36-75 V) input 12 V@25 A output two-stage prototype composed of the proposed converter and a full bridge converter is built in the lab. The experimental results verified the analysis.

Two new lignan glucosides, compounds 2 and 3, two new 1H-indole-alkaloid glucosides, 5 and 6, as well as two new phenolic glucosides, 7 and 10, were isolated from the roots of Capparis tenera, together with five known compounds. Their structures were characterized by chemical and spectroscopic methods. Most of these isolates were obtained for the first time from Capparidaceae. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of the new compounds were investigated.

Our previous studies have shown that N-n-butyl haloperidol iodide (F(2)) can antagonize myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury by blocking intracellular Ca(2+) overload. The present study is to test the hypothesis that the protective effects of F(2) on myocardial I/R injury is mediated by downregulating Egr-1 expression.The Sprague-Dawley rat myocardial I/R model and cardiomyocyte hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) model were established. With antisense Egr-1 oligodeoxyribonucleotide (ODN), the relationship between Egr-1 expression and myocardial I/R injury was investigated. Hemodynamic parameters, myeloperoxidase (MPO), cardiac troponin I (cTnI) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) were measured to assess the degree of injury and inflammation of myocardial tissues and cells. Egr-1 mRNA and protein expressions were examined by Northern-blot and Western-blot analyses.Treatment with antisense Egr-1 ODN significantly reduced Egr-1 protein expression and attenuated injury of myocardial tissues and cells. Meanwhile, treatment with F(2) significantly inhibited the overexpression of Egr-1 mRNA and protein in myocardial tissues and cells. Consistent with downregulation of Egr-1 expression by F(2), inflammation and other damages were significantly relieved evidenced by the amelioration of hemodynamics, the reduction in myocardial MPO activity as well as the decrease in leakage of cTnI and release of TNF-alpha from cardiomyocyte.These results suggested that the overexpression of Egr-1 was causative in myocardial I/R or H/R injury, and F(2) could protect myocardial tissues and cells from I/R or H/R injury, which was largely due to the inhibition of Egr-1 overexpression.

Phytochemical investigations of the fruits of Illicium oligandrum resulted in a new sesquiterpene lactone, 3 beta-benzoyloxy-10-deoxyfloridanolide (1), and three new neolignan glycosides, including two dihydrobenzofuran neolignan glycosides, (7 R,8 S)-9-O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-9'-O-alpha- L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyldihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol (2) and (7 R,8 S)-9-O-shikimoyl-4-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyldihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol (3) and one 8- O-4' neolignan glycoside, (7 S,8 R)-1-[4-O-(beta-D-glucopyranosyl)-3-methoxyphenyl]-2-[4-(3-hydroxypropyl)-2,6-dimethoxyphenoxy]-1,3-propanediol (4), together with three known sesquiterpene lactones (5 - 7) and two known neolignan glycosides (8 and 9). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of 1D, 2D NMR, HR-MS and chemical evidence. Compounds 3 and 4 showed moderate antioxidant activity with the inhibitory rates 13.30% and 9.30% at 1.0 x 10(-5) M, respectively. Compounds 3 and 9 exhibited anti-inflammatory activity with the inhibitory rates 67.0% and 51.0% at 1.0 x 10(-5) M, respectively.

To investigate the effects of high D-glucose on migration, proliferation, and angiogenesis of endothelial cells and to make sure whether PI3K and Akt signaling pathway plays an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetic vascular complications.Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were cultured. D-glucose of the concentrations of 5 mmol/L, 15 mmol/L, and 30 mmol/L and mannitol of the concentrations of 5 mmol/L, 15 mmol/L, and 30 mmol/L were added in to the medium, the migration rate of the cells was measured by wound healing test and the cell proliferation was examined with CellTiter 96 AQ(ueous) One Solution cell proliferation assay. Matrigel was spread on 96-well plate, and culture of HUVECs with D-glucose and mannitol of different concentrations were added. Microscopic photography was used to calculate the total area of vascular bed, average vessel length, vessel number, branch points, so as to observe the angiogenesis. Immuno-precipitation was used to detect the expression of p85/PI3K. Western blotting was used to detect the protein expression of p85/PI3K, p-PI3K, GSK3beta (downstream kinase of Akt), p-Akt (Threonine308) and p-GSK3beta. LY294002, a PI3K inhibitor, of the concentrations of 0.1 micromol/L, 1 micromol/L, and 10 micromol/L was added into the culture fluid with 5 mmol/L D-glucose, then the endothelial cell migration, proliferation number, total area of blood bed, etc were observed.The migration rate of the 5 mmol/L D-glucose group was 100 +/- 23/microm2, and D-glucose dose-dependently decreased the migration rate, e.g. the migration rates of the 15 mmol/L and 30 mmol/L D-glucose groups were 77 +/- 18/microm2 and 46 +/- 18/microm2 respectively, both significantly lower than that of the 5 mmol/L D-glucose group (both P0.01). LY294002 of the concentrations of 0.1 micromol/L, 1 micromol/L, and 10 micromol/L dose-dependently decrease the endothelial cells migration rates to 68 +/- 16/microm2, 36 +/- 12/microm2, and 13 +/- 3/microm2 respectively (all P0.01) The cell proliferation rate of the 5 mmol/L, 15 mmol/L) and 30 mmol/L D-glucose groups were 59,128 +/- 7415/well, 33,144 +/- 9082/well, and 11,625 +/- 4196/well respectively, showing that D-glucose dose-dependently decreased the cell proliferation (all P0.01). LY294002 of the concentrations of 0.1 micromol/L, 1 micromol/L, and 10 micromol/L dose-dependently decrease the endothelial cell proliferation to 42,560 +/- 4213/well, 17,688 +/- 7198/well, and 5704 +/- 558/well respectively (all P0.01). 15 mmol/L and 30 mmol/L D-glucose decreased the numbers of total area of vascular bed, average tubule length, number of capillaries, and number of vessel branch pint formed on the Matrigel. LY294002 dose-dependently inhibited the angiogenesis (P0.05 or P0.01) 15 mmol/L and 30 mmol/L D-glucose dose-dependently inhibited the phosphorylation of p85/P13K and Akt (P0.05 and P0.01). However, D-glucose did not influence the protein expression of p85/PI3K and Akt. Mannitol did not influence the cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and the expression of p85/PI3K, phosphorylated p85/PI3K, Akt, phosphorylated Akt (Thr308), and phosphorylated GSK3beta.Hyperglycemia-impaired PI3K-Akt signaling may lead to migration, proliferation and angiogenesis dysfunction of endothelial cells in diabetes patients, which is likely to contribute to the pathogenesis of diabetic vascular complications.

We have previously shown that N-n-butyl haloperidol iodide (F2) derived from haloperidol reduces ischemia/reperfusion-induced myocardial injury by blocking intracellular Ca2+ overload. This study tested the hypothesis that cardio-protection with F2 is associated with an attenuation in the expression of early growth response gene 1 (Egr-1). In an in vivo rat model of 60 min coronary occlusion followed by 180 min of reperfusion, treatment with F2 significantly reduced myocardial injury evidenced by the reduction in release of plasma creatine kinase, myocardial creatine kinase isoenzyme and lactate dehydrogenase. In cultured neonatal rat cardiomyocytes of hypoxia for 3 h and reoxygenation for 1 h, F2 treatment attenuated necrotic and apoptotic cell death, as demonstrated by electron microscopy. Concomitant with cardio-protection by F2, the increased expression levels of Egr-1 mRNA and protein were significantly reduced in myocardial tissue and cultured cardiomyocytes as detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry. In conclusion, these results suggest that the protective effect of F2 on ischemia/reperfusion- or hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced myocardial injury might be partly mediated by downregulating Egr-1 expression.

We introduce a framework for improving information quality in complex distributed systems that integrates: 1) Analytic models that describe baseline values for attributes and combinations of attributes and components that detect statistically significant changes from baselines. These models determine whether a significant change has occurred, and if so, when. 2) Casual models that help determine why a statistically significant change has occurred and what its impact is. These models focus on the reasons for a change. 3) Formal business and technical reference models so that data and information quality problems are less likely to occur in the future. In this note, we focus on the first two types of models and describe how this framework applies to data quality problems associated with electronic payments transactions and highway traffic patterns.

To study the bioactive constituents of the flower of Castanea mollissima Blume.Compounds were isolated and purified by column chromatography of silica gel and TLC. Structures were determined by various spectroscopic data, including IR, 1HNMR and 13CNMR, EIMS, FABMS and HMBC as well as comparison of the data with those reported in literatures.Five compounds were isolated and elucidated as myricetin (I), quercetin (II), gallic acid (III), 4-quinolinone-2-caboxylic acid (IV), (+) -isolariciresinol-9'-O-alpha-L-rhamnoside (V).These compounds were separated from the flower for the first time and compound V is a new compounds, named chestnutlignansoide.

Structures were determined by various spectroscopic data,including UV, IR, 1H and 13CNMR, EIMS and FABMS, 1H-13C-COSY and HMBC.Two compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of 95% ethanol extract and the structures were elucidated as kaempferol-3-O-[6"-(E)-p-coumaroyl]-alpha-D-mannopyranoside (1) and kaempferol-3-O-[6", 4"-di-(E)-p-coumaroyl]-alpha-D-mannopyranoside (2).Compounds 1 and 2 are new compounds, named castanoside A and B respectirely.
