Abstract Atherosclerosis is initiated with endothelial cell (EC) dysfunction and vascular inflammation under hyperlipidemia. Sirtuin 3 (SIRT3) is a mitochondrial deacetylase. However, the specific role of endothelial SIRT3 during atherosclerosis remains poorly understood. The present study aims to study the role and mechanism of SIRT3 in EC function during atherosclerosis. Wild‐type Sirt3f/f mice and endothelium‐selective SIRT3 knockout Sirt3f/f; Cdh5Cre/+ (Sirt3EC‐KO) mice are injected with adeno‐associated virus (AAV) to overexpress PCSK9 and fed with high‐cholesterol diet (HCD) for 12 weeks to induce atherosclerosis. Sirt3EC‐KO mice exhibit increased atherosclerotic plaque formation, along with elevated macrophage infiltration, vascular inflammation, and reduced circulating L‐arginine levels. In human ECs, SIRT3 inhibition resulted in heightened vascular inflammation, reduced nitric oxide (NO) production, increased reactive oxygen species (ROS), and diminished L‐arginine levels. Silencing of SIRT3 results in hyperacetylation and deactivation of Argininosuccinate Synthase 1 (ASS1), a rate‐limiting enzyme involved in L‐arginine biosynthesis, and this effect is abolished in mutant ASS1. Furthermore, L‐arginine supplementation attenuates enhanced plaque formation and vascular inflammation in Sirt3EC‐KO mice. This study provides compelling evidence supporting the protective role of endothelial SIRT3 in atherosclerosis and also suggests a critical role of SIRT3‐induced deacetylation of ASS1 by ECs for arginine synthesis.

The flow field near a spur dike such as down flow and horseshoe vortex system (HVS) are susceptible to the topographic changes in the local scouring process, resulting in variation of the sediment transport with time. In this study, large eddy simulations with fixed-bed at different scouring stages were conducted to investigate the changes in flow field. The results imply that the bed deformation leads to an increase in flow rate per unit area, which represent the capability of sediment transportation by water, in the scour hole. Moreover, the intensity of turbulent kinetic energy and bimodal motion near the sand bed induced by the HVS were also varied. However, the peak moments between the two sediment transport mechanisms were different. Hence, understanding the complex feedback mechanism between topography and flow field is essential for the local scour problem.

BackgroundObservational studies have hinted at a correlation between the gut microbiota and spinal pain (SP). However, the impact of the gut microbiota on SP remains inconclusive.MethodsIn this study, we employed a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to explore the causal relationship between the gut microbiota and SP, encompassing neck pain (NP), thoracic spine pain (TSP), low back pain (LBP), and back pain (BP). The compiled gut microbiota data originated from a genome-wide association study (GWAS) conducted by the MiBioGen consortium (n = 18,340). Summary data for NP were sourced from the UK Biobank, TSP from the FinnGen Biobank, and LBP from both the UK Biobank and FinnGen Biobank. Summary data for BP were obtained from the UK Biobank. The primary analytical approach for assessing causal relationships was the Inverse Variance Weighted (IVW) method, supplemented by various sensitivity analyses to ensure result robustness.ResultsThe IVW analysis unveiled 37 bacterial genera with a potential causal relationship to SP. After Benjamini-Hochberg corrected test, four bacterial genera emerged with a strong causal relationship to SP. Specifically, Oxalobacter (OR: 1.143, 95% CI 1.061–1.232, P = 0.0004) and Tyzzerella 3 (OR: 1.145, 95% CI 1.059–1.238, P = 0.0007) were identified as risk factors for LBP, while Ruminococcaceae UCG011 (OR: 0.859, 95% CI 0.791–0.932, P = 0.0003) was marked as a protective factor for LBP, and Olsenella (OR: 0.893, 95% CI 0.839–0.951, P = 0.0004) was recognized as a protective factor for low back pain or/and sciatica. No significant heterogeneity or horizontal pleiotropy was observed through alternative testing methods.ConclusionThis study establishes a causal relationship between the gut microbiota and SP, shedding light on the “gut-spine” axis. These findings offer novel perspectives for understanding the etiology of SP and provide a theoretical foundation for potential interventions targeting the gut microbiota to prevent and treat SP.

Projectors are common display devices in the educational setting. However, dim projector lightbulbs or well-lit classrooms may cause blurriness in the projected image. To determine the optimal projection light under different ambient light conditions, the conjoint effects of projection illuminance and ambient illuminance on the legibility of projection images indoors were investigated. Participants (N = 96) were randomly assigned to one of six indoor ambient light conditions (0, 40, 80, 120, 160, and 200 lx) and performed a visual search task under several projection illuminance conditions (200, 250, 300, 350, and 400 lx). The accuracy and correct response time on the task were collected to evaluate the participants’ visual performance to represent legibility. The optimal projection illuminance (high visual accuracy and fast reaction) was 400 lx (944 ANSI lumen) under all ambient light conditions. To avoid low legibility (accuracy0.7), the projection illuminance should be increased as the indoor ambient light increases.

IntroductionThe relationship between gut microbiota and peripheral artery disease (PAD) remains understudied. While traditional risk factors like smoking and hyperlipidemia are well-understood, our study aims to determine the potential causative association of gut microbiota with PAD using Mendelian Randomization.MethodsData from the International MiBioGen Consortium and the FinnGen research project were used to study 211 bacterial taxa. Instrumental variables, comprising 2079 SNPs, were selected based on significance levels and linkage disequilibrium. Analyses were conducted utilizing the inverse-variance weighted (IVW) method and other statistical MR techniques to mitigate biases, processed in R (v4.3.1) with the TwosampleMR package.ResultsThree bacterial taxa, namely genus Coprococcus2, RuminococcaceaeUCG004, and RuminococcaceaeUCG010, emerged as protective factors against PAD. In contrast, family. FamilyXI and the genus Lachnoclostridium and LachnospiraceaeUCG001 were identified as risk factors.ConclusionOur findings hint at a causative association between certain gut microbiota and PAD, introducing new avenues for understanding PAD’s etiology and developing effective treatments. The observed associations now warrant further validation in varied populations and detailed exploration at finer taxonomic levels.

Background: The coexistence of autoimmune encephalitis (AE) with multiple neural auto-antibodies is of great clinical significance because overlying antibodies may cause superposition or variation of clinical syndrome, which increases the difficulty of diagnosis and treatment of the disease. To the best of our knowledge, the coexistence of anti-N-methyl d-aspartate Receptor (NMDAR) and anti-IgLON5 antibodies in AE has not been published previously. Case presentation: A 38-year-old female patient presented to our hospital due to headache and abnormal psychiatric behavior. Based on her clinical manifestations (psychiatric and behavioral abnormalities, involuntary limb movements, and sleep disorders) and laboratory assessment results (positive human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DQB1*05:01 haplotype, anti-NMDAR, and anti-IgLON5 antibodies), she was diagnosed as AE with coexisting anti-NMDAR and anti-IgLON5 antibodies. After treatment with intravenous methylprednisolone and immunoglobulin, as well as plasmapheresis, her symptoms gradually improved with exception for the sleep disorders. Although oral prednisone acetate and mycophenolate mofetil were continued after discharge, her symptoms of sleep disorders did not improve at 6-month follow-up. Conclusion: This is the first case of AE co-existing with anti-NMDAR and anti-IgLON5 antibodies. Co-existence of neural auto-antibodies should be considered when patients present with overlapping or atypical symptoms. Special attention should be paid to the treatment of these patients as some anti-IgLON5 encephalitis patients may not benefit from immunotherapy treatment.

The aim of this study was to investigate the potential of adding soya bean dregs insoluble dietary fibre (IDF) modified by jet cavitation combined with cellulase to yoghurt to improve its functional properties (Yoghurt was prepared by adding 10 μL of yoghurt fermenter to 100 mL of milk, fermented to pH 4.5 in a constant temperature incubator at 42 °C, and then stored in a refrigerator at 4 °C after adding IDF separately). The results showed that the modified IDF had a rough structure with high water-holding capacity and sodium cholate adsorption capacity. The addition of modified IDF improved the pH, hardness, and elasticity of the yoghurt. During the entire storage period, the titratable acidity and whey precipitation rate of the modified IDF yoghurt gradually increased, and antioxidant activity gradually decreased, and its titratable acidity, whey precipitation rate, and antioxidant activity had a significant advantage compared with those of the blank group yoghurt. In conclusion, the modified soya bean dregs IDF-added yoghurt prepared by jet cavitation combined with the cellulase method has the potential for sodium cholate adsorption capacity and antioxidant activity, which can confer unique functional properties and improve the pH, texture, and reduce whey precipitation of yoghurt. This study provides a scientific basis for the application of soya bean dregs IDF as a fibre fortifier in yoghurt production and suggests innovative ideas for the design of functional dairy products.

The process-based water system models have been transitioning from single-functional to integrated multi-objective and multi-functional since the worldwide digital upgrade of urban water system management. The proliferation of model complexity results in more significant uncertainty and computational requirements. However, conventional model calibration methods are insufficient in dealing with extensive computational time and limited monitoring samples. Here we introduce a novel machine learning system designed to expedite parameter optimization with limited data and boost efficiency in parameter search. MLPS, termed the machine learning parallel system for fast parameter search of integrated process-based models, aims to enhance both the performance and efficiency of the integrated model by ensuring its comprehensiveness, accuracy, and stability. MLPS was constructed upon the concept of model surrogation + algorithm optimization using Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) coupled with Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). The optimization results of the Integrated sewer network and urban river model demonstrate that the average relative percentage difference of the predicted river pollutant concentrations increases from 1.1 to 6.0, and the average absolute percent bias decreases from 124.3% to 8.8%. The model outputs closely align with the monitoring data, and parameter calibration time is reduced by 89.94%. MLPS enables the efficient optimization of integrated process-based models, facilitating the application of highly precise complex models in environmental management. The design of MLPS also presents valuable insights for optimizing complex models in other fields.

Abstract Objective To explore the impact of inflammatory factors on the incidence of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD), we performed a mendelian randomization (MR) study to analyze the causal relationship between multiple inflammatory factors and CSVD imaging markers and utilized summary‐data‐based mendelian randomization (SMR) analysis to infer whether the impact of instrumental variables (IVs) on disease is mediated by gene expression or DNA methylation. Methods Using public databases such as UKB and IEU, and original genome‐wide association studies, we obtained IVs related to exposure (inflammatory factors) and outcome (CSVD imaging markers). We performed the inverse variance weighted, weighted median, and MR‐Egger methods to assess causal effects between exposure and outcome in univariate MR analysis. To evaluate their heterogeneity, a series of sensitivity analyses were conducted, including the Cochrane Q test, MR‐Egger intercept test, MR‐Presso, and leave‐one‐out analysis. We also applied mediation and multivariate MR analysis to explore the interactions between positive exposures on the same outcome. Additionally, we conducted the SMR, which utilizes instruments within or near relevant genes in blood or brain tissues, to elucidate the causal associations with CSVD markers. Results ABO Univariate MR of multiple cohorts revealed that the risk of small vessel stroke (SVS) increases with elevated levels of TNF‐related apoptosis‐inducing ligand (TRAIL, OR, 1.23, 95% CI, 1.08–1.39) and interleukin‐1 receptor‐like 2, (IL‐1RL2, OR, 1.29, 95% CI, 1.04–1.61). IL‐18 was a potential risk factor for extensive basal ganglia perivascular space burden (BGPVS, OR, 1.02, 95% CI, 1.00–1.05). Moreover, the risk of extensive white matter perivascular space burden (WMPVS) decreased with rising levels of E‐selectin (OR, .98, 95% CI, .97–1.00), IL‐1RL2 (OR, .97, 95% CI, .95–1.00), IL‐3 receptor subunit alpha (IL‐3Ra, OR, .98, 95% CI, .97–1.00), and IL‐5 receptor subunit alpha (IL‐5Ra, OR, .98, 95% CI, .97–1.00). Mediation and multivariate MR analysis indicated that E‐selectin and IL‐3Ra might interact during the pathogenesis of WMPVS. SMR estimates showed that TRAIL‐related IVs rs5030044 and rs2304456 increased the risk of SVS by increasing the expression of gene Kininogen‐1 (KNG1) in the cerebral cortex, particularly in the frontal cortex (βsmr = .10, Psmr = .003, FDR = .04). Instruments (rs507666 and rs2519093) related to E‐selectin and IL‐3Ra could increase the risk of WMPVS by enhancing DNA methylation of the gene ABO in blood tissue (βsmr = .01–.02, Psmr = .001, FDR = .01–.03). Conclusion According to MR and SMR analysis, higher levels of TRAIL increased the risk of SVS by upregulating gene expression of KNG1 in brain cortex tissues. In addition, protective effects of E‐selectin and IL‐3a levels on WMPVS were regulated by increased DNA methylation of gene ABO in blood tissue.

Abstract Real‐time foot pressure monitoring using wearable smart systems, with comprehensive foot health monitoring and analysis, can enhance quality of life and prevent foot‐related diseases. However, traditional smart insole solutions that rely on basic data analysis methods of manual feature extraction are limited to real‐time plantar pressure mapping and gait analysis, failing to meet the diverse needs of users for comprehensive foot healthcare. To address this, we propose a deep learning‐enabled smart insole system comprising a plantar pressure sensing insole, portable circuit board, deep learning and data analysis blocks, and software interface. The capacitive sensing insole can map both static and dynamic plantar pressure with a wide range over 500 kPa and excellent sensitivity. Statistical tools are used to analyze long‐term foot pressure usage data, providing indicators for early prevention of foot diseases and key data labels for deep learning algorithms to uncover insights into the relationship between plantar pressure patterns and foot issues. Additionally, a segmentation method assisted deep learning model is implemented for exercise‐fatigue recognition as a proof of concept, achieving a high classification accuracy of 95%. The system also demonstrates various foot healthcare applications, including daily activity statistics, exercise injury avoidance, and diabetic foot ulcer prevention.

Accurately assessing ecosystem services value (ESV) and understanding its spatial distribution characteristics is crucial for establishing compensation standards of ecological protection and realizing cross-regional ecological value trading. From the perspective of spatial heterogeneity theory, we propose an approach and model of assessing the spatial heterogeneity of ESV. We apply this approach and model to the empirical assessment of ESV in China by combining multi-source spatial data and the equivalent factor method. The results can be summarized as follows: (1) The sub-functions of ecosystem services (ES) and their values in China show significant spatial differences, and most of the sub-functions of ES reveal a pattern of decreasing values from the southeast to the northwest. (2) After considering spatial heterogeneity, the total value of ES in China decreases, including in some parts of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, whereas the ESV in the southeastern and northeastern regions increases significantly. (3) The spatial aggregation distribution of ESV in Chinese municipalities could be characterized, but if the spatial heterogeneity of ESV is not considered, the degree of spatial aggregation will be underestimated. ESV assessment based on spatial heterogeneity provides accurate and detailed basic data and a basis for the rational determination of compensation standards of ecological protection. Moreover, revealing the spatial aggregation characteristics of ESV in China provides a new perspective for effectively determining the supply and beneficiary areas in cross-regional ecological value trading.

In recent years, numerous studies have investigated the effects of caffeine on exercise, and provide convincing evidence for its ergogenic effects on exercise performance. However, the precise mechanisms underlying these ergogenic effects remain unclear. In this study, an exercise swimming model was conducted to investigate the effects of orally administered with caffeine before swimming on the alterations of proteome and energy metabolome of liver and muscle after swimming. We found proteins in liver, such as S100a8, S100a9, Gabpa, Igfbp1 and Sdc4, were significantly up-regulated, while Rbp4 and Tf decreased after swimming were further down-regulated in caffeine group. The glycolysis and pentose phosphate pathways in liver and muscle were both significantly down-regulated in caffeine group. The pyruvate carboxylase and amino acid levels in liver, including cysteine, serine and tyrosine, were markedly up-regulated in caffeine group, exhibiting a strong correlation with the increased pyruvic acid and oxaloacetate levels in muscle. Moreover, caffeine significantly decreased the lactate levels in both liver and muscle after swimming, potentially benefiting exercise performance.

Due to its potential applications in image restoration and deep convolutional neural networks, the study of irregular frames has interested some researchers. This paper addresses irregular wavelet systems (IWSs) and irregular Gabor systems (IGSs) in Sobolev space HsR. We obtain the sufficient and necessary conditions for IWS and IGS to be frames. By applying these conditions, we also derive the characterizations of IWS and IGS to be frames. Finally, we discuss the perturbation theorem of irregular wavelet frames (IWFs) and irregular Gabor frames (IGFs). We also provided some examples to support our results.

Ubiquitination is crucial for the growth of cancer. However, the role of ubiquitination-related genes (URGs) in stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) remains unclear. Differentially expressed URGs (DE-URGs) were examined in the whole TCGA-STAD dataset, and the prognosis-related genes were discovered from the The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) training set. Prognostic genes were discovered using selection operator regression analysis and absolute least shrinkage (LASSO). A multivariate Cox analysis was further employed, and a polygene-based risk assessment system was established. Signatures were verified using the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database record GSE84433 and the TCGA test set. Using the MEXPRESS dataset, a detailed analysis of gene expression and methylation was carried out. Using the DAVID database, DE-URG function and pathway enrichment was examined. The identified 163 DE-URGs were significantly associated with pathways related to protein ubiquitination, cell cycle, and cancer. A prognostic signature based on 13 DE-URGs was constructed, classifying patients into two risk groups. Compared to low-risk patients, people at high risk had considerably shorter survival times. Cox regression analyses considered prognostic parameters independent of age and risk score and were used to generate nomograms. Calibration curves show good agreement between nomogram predictions and observations. Furthermore, the results of the MEXPRESS analysis indicated that 13 prognostic DE-URGs had an intricate methylation profile. The enhanced Random Forest-based model showed greater efficacy in predicting prognosis, mutation, and immune infiltration. The in vitro validation, including CCK8, EdU, Transwell, and co-culture Transwell, proved that RNF144A was a potent oncogene in STAD and could facilitate the migration of M2 macrophages. In this research, we have created a genetic model based on URGs that can appropriately gauge a patient’s prognosis and immunotherapy response, providing clinicians with a reliable tool for prognostic assessment and supporting clinical treatment decisions.

Background: The global aging phenomenon has raised concerns about the cognitive abilities of older individuals. This study aimed to explore the relationship between social participation, depressive symptoms, and cognitive function among middle-aged and older adults. Methods: This study utilized data from the China Longitudinal Study of Health and Retirement (CHARLS) from wave 1 to wave 4. We used linear regression and generalized estimation equations to investigate the correlation between social participation, depressive symptoms, and cognitive function. Moreover, three models were constructed by adjusting covariates, and we used the sobel test and bootstrap method to analyze the mediating effects of depressive symptoms on social activities and cognitive function. The development of sports in children is crucial. Unlike European and American sports clubs, China uses children's sports schools as its main form of competitive sports training. However, with the changing economy and mindset in China, this approach is facing challenges and is in urgent need of changes allowing the school and its internal staff to be more sustainable as they can adapt and survive in the overall market. This change means that such schools can no longer simply rely on government assistance but rather must be more in tune with the market economy and gain competitiveness. Zhangjiakou, China, one of the host cities for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, has a good overall sports atmosphere. Its municipal government attaches importance to sports development, including children's sports, with several children's sports schools that are typical of this study. Accordingly, seven Zhangjiakou sports schools were selected for investigation through field research and sampling. Moreover, the sources of resistance to change in Zhangjiakou children's sports schools were analyzed from multiple perspectives, including external politics and economy, internal group and individual perspectives, using data from questionnaires and in-depth interviews.

The Bangxi–Chenxing suture zone is an essential area from which information about the closure history of the eastern Paleo-Tethys Ocean can be obtained. The Darongshan granitoid, which is adjacent to this suture, lies among the widely distributed granitic rocks and few basic rocks in the southern Guangxi Province. Herein, we report the petrogeochemistry, zircon U–Pb ages, and zircon Hf isotopic data of the Darongshan pluton in this region. The LA-ICP-MS U–Pb zircon analysis indicates that the Darongshan pluton had formed at 249.9±2.6 Ma. The Darongshan granites are silica-rich (SiO2=65.68–72.91 wt%, mean=69.89 wt%) with high Na2O contents (Na2O=0.46–6.58 wt%, mean=3.49), relatively high Mg (Mg#=35.12–73.31, mean=57.73), and an average Fe2O3T+TiO2+MnO+MgO of 4.96. These features are similar to those of the Mg-andesitic/dioritic rock- (MA-) like tonalite–trondhjemite–granodiorites (TTGs). Chemical analyses show that all rocks are enriched in large-ion lithophile elements (Rb, Th, and U) and light rare earth elements, with weak negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu∗=0.27–0.67), and Ta, Nb, and Ti depletion, with typical arc-like affinity. The zircon Hf isotopic results show zircon ƐHft values ranging from -18.2 to -7.4 and the TDM2 model ages 1.74–2.41 Ga. The petrogeochemistry and zircon Hf isotopic signatures indicate the magma generation of the Darongshan granitoid with fluid/melt released from the subducted slab and the fluid/melt assimilated and mixed with the mantle peridotite during ascent. Combining previous extant information on Permo–Triassic subduction/collision-related magmatism in the Bangxi–Chenxing with that of the Jinshajiang–Ailaoshan–Song Ma suture zones, the Darongshan granitoid is interpreted as a magmatic formation that was generated in an active continental margin arc environment during the subduction of the Early Indosinian eastern Paleo-Tethys Ocean and the South China Block, further supporting the idea that closure occurred during the Middle–Late Triassic.

Transient simulation is crucial for protecting complex pump-valve water conveyance pipeline systems from extreme pressure and water level oscillations. In order to numerically simulate the transient response in a complex pump-valve water conveyance system, a transient flow calculation model was established adopting the method of characteristics (MOC). Based on the proposed model, the transient pressure and the water level fluctuation process were numerically predicted under steady-state operation state, and then the results were compared to the actual measured data. Due to the good agreement between the simulation results and the actual measured data, the model established based on MOC is effective and practical. 41 operational scenario switching schemes were designed according to the uniform experimental design, to study the operation sequence and time differences of pumps and valves during operational scenario switching state. The results show that the operational time interval has a major impact on the transient process under the operational scenario switching state in complex pump-valve systems, and also indicate that delayed pump startup can alleviate the pressure extremum of pipeline systems and effectively control water level fluctuation of such systems. In addition, this study points out the optimal operational sequence and the maximum and minimum allowable time intervals between the pump and the valve under operational scenario switching state in such systems. Finally, an optimized joint operation scheme for pumps and valves with simple operation and small water-level oscillation were proposed under operational scenario switching state.

Adalimumab but neither etanercept nor certolizumab-pegol has been reported to induce a wound-healing profile in vitro by regulating macrophage differentiation and matrix metalloproteinase expression, which may underlie the differences in efficacy between various TNF-α inhibitors in impaired wound healing in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa, a chronic inflammatory skin disease. To examine and compare the efficacy of various TNF inhibitors in cutaneous wound healing in vivo, a human TNF knock-in Leprdb/db mouse model was established to model the impaired cutaneous wound healing as seen in hidradenitis suppurativa. The vehicle group exhibited severe impairments in cutaneous wound healing. In contrast, adalimumab significantly accelerated healing, confirmed by both histologic assessment and a unique healing transcriptional profile. Moreover, adalimumab and infliximab showed similar levels of efficacy, but golimumab was less effective, along with etanercept and certolizumab-pegol. In line with histologic assessments, proteomics analyses from healing wounds exposed to various TNF inhibitors revealed distinct and differential wound-healing signatures that may underlie the differential efficacy of these inhibitors in accelerating cutaneous wound healing. Taken together, these data revealed that TNF inhibitors exhibited differential levels of efficacy in accelerating cutaneous wound healing in the impaired wound-healing model in vivo.

Advancements in technology and the emergence of new media have significantly influenced people's perceptions of library branding, leading to a heightened demand for personalized and artistic library logos. Contemporary library logo design is no longer confined by traditional design conventions, production limitations, or publishing technology constraints. Instead, it strives for diversified development to achieve the highest levels of visual impact and personalization. This ongoing innovation in modern library logo design has given rise to several new design styles, modes of expression, and modeling languages. The concept of emotional expression in library logo design pertains to the spiritual and cultural elements conveyed through the logo's conceptual form. This paper examines the current state of library logo design and identifies existing challenges. In modern basketball, the three-point shot plays an important tactical role. Basketball players often face the distraction from audience and opponents, necessitating psychological skill to maintain their performance. The study examined the effects of self-talk interventions on the three-point shot performance under quiet and noisy conditions. It involved 42 national second-level basketball players and used a 2 (Condition: quiet condition, noisy condition) × 3 (Intervention: control group, motivational self-talk, instructional self-talk) mixed design to investigate the performance of the static and dynamic three-point shots tasks. The results revealed that the static three-point shot score was significantly lower in noisy condition compared to quiet condition (p = 0.016), while the main effect of Intervention and the interaction effect of Condition × Intervention were not significant. Post-hoc analysis indicated that only the control group showed significantly lower scores in the noisy condition (p = 0.043). For the dynamic three-point shots performance, there were no significant main effects of Intervention or Condition, nor any significant interaction effect between Condition and Intervention. In conclusion, noise distraction negatively affects the static three-point shots task, and although self-talk interventions can mitigate such negative effects, their effectiveness is limited for dynamic three-point shots task with high physical demands.

BackgroundsUAVs for crop protection hold significant potential for application in mountainous orchard areas in China. However, certain issues pertaining to UAV spraying need to be addressed for further technological advancement, aimed at enhancing crop protection efficiency and reducing pesticide usage. These challenges include the potential for droplet drift, limited capacity for pesticide solution. Consequently, efforts are required to overcome these limitations and optimize UAV spraying technology.MethodsIn order to balance high deposition and low drift in plant protection UAV spraying, this study proposes a plant protection UAV spraying method. In order to study the operational effects of this spraying method, this study conducted a UAV spray and grid impact test to investigate the effects of different operational parameters on droplet deposition and drift. Meanwhile, a spray model was constructed using machine learning techniques to predict the spraying effect of this method.Results and discussionThis study investigated the droplet deposition rate and downwind drift rate on three types of citrus trees: traditional densely planted trees, dwarf trees, and hedged trees, considering different particle sizes and UAV flight altitudes. Analyzing the effect of increasing the grid on droplet coverage and deposition density for different tree forms. The findings demonstrated a significantly improved droplet deposition rate on dwarf and hedged citrus trees compared to traditional densely planted trees and adopting a fixed-height grid increased droplet coverage and deposition density for both the densely planted and trellised citrus trees, but had the opposite effect on dwarfed citrus trees. When using the grid system. Among the factors examined, the height of the sampling point exhibited the greatest influence on the droplet deposition rate, whereas UAV flight height and droplet particle size had no significant impact. The distance in relation to wind direction had the most substantial effect on droplet drift rate. In terms of predicting droplet drift rate, the BP neural network performed inadequately with a coefficient of determination of 0.88. Conversely, REGRESS, ELM, and RBFNN yielded similar and notably superior results with a coefficient of determination greater than 0.95. Notably, ELM demonstrated the smallest root mean square error.

Early-onset Schizophrenia (EOS) is a profoundly progressive psychiatric disorder characterized by both positive and negative symptoms, whose pathogenesis is influenced by genes, environment and brain structure development. In this study, the MIND (Morphometric Inverse Divergence) network was employed to explore the relationship between morphological similarity and specific transcriptional expression patterns in EOS patients. This study involved a cohort of 187 participants aged between 7 and 17 years, consisting of 97 EOS patients and 90 healthy controls (HC). Multiple morphological features were used to construct the MIND network for all participants. Furthermore, we explored the associations between MIND network and brain-wide gene expression in EOS patients through partial least squares (PLS) regression, shared genetic predispositions with other psychiatric disorders, functional enrichment of PLS weighted genes, as well as transcriptional signature assessment of cell types, cortical layers, and developmental stages. The MIND showed similarity differences in the orbitofrontal cortex, pericalcarine cortex, lingual gyrus, and multiple networks in EOS patients compared to HC. Moreover, our exploration revealed a significant overlap of PLS2 weighted genes linking to EOS-related MIND differences and the dysregulated genes reported in other psychiatric diseases. Interestingly, genes correlated with MIND changes (PLS2-) exhibited a significant enrichment not only in metabolism-related pathways, but also in specific astrocytes, cortical layers (specifically layer I and III), and posterior developmental stages (late infancy to young adulthood stages). However, PLS2+ genes were primarily enriched in synapses signaling-related pathways and early developmental stages (from early-mid fetal to neonatal early infancy) but not in special cell types or layers. These findings provide a novel perspective on the intricate relationship between macroscopic morphometric structural abnormalities and microscopic transcriptional patterns during the onset and progression of EOS.
