The increased consumption of fossil fuels provokes high levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, which give rise to serious environmental issues. Accordingly, designing and utilizing new classes of materials, such as Schiff bases, to capture CO2 gained significant attention from researchers worldwide. In the present work, two Schiff bases were synthesized and examined as storage materials for carbon dioxide gas. The prepared compounds were obtained by reacting trimethoprim with two aldehydes severally (benzaldehyde and parabromobenzaldehyde) in boiling methanol. The surface morphology of the compounds was investigated via field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) test showed that Schiff bases 1 and 2 have surface areas of 17.993 and 2.732 m²/g, pore volumes of 0.008 and 0.005 cm³/g, and pore diameters of 17.02 and 74.89 nm, respectively. Reasonable uptake values of CO2 (31.36 cm³/g, 6.2 wt%) and (25.30 cm³/g, 5.0 wt%) were achieved by the prepared Schiff bases 1 and 2, respectively, at 313 K temperature and 40 bars pressure. Herein successfully synthesized new organotin (IV) complex Bu2SnOL by reacting sulfamethoxazole drug as a ligand with dibutyltin (IV) oxide. The synthesized complex was fully characterized by Fourier transform infrared, 1proton nuclear magnetic resonance, 13carbon nuclear magnetic resonance, 119tin nuclear magnetic resonance and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopies. Field emission scanning electronic microscopy was also applied to study the surface morphology of synthesized complex. The above techniques have demonstrated that the complex was prepared with high percentage of purity. This type of compound has various applications in medicine and industry. Organotin compounds (OTCs) are characterized as having at minimum one covalent bond between carbon and tin atoms, and are usually denoted by the formula RnSnX4-n (n = 1-3, R = aryl or alkyl, X = halogen ion or a carboxylate, etc.). There are several methods to synthesis organotin compounds, they are Grignard and Kocheshkov reactions, Wurtz reaction and alkylation method. The tin has two stable state, (II) and (IV). Sn (II) forms pyramidal sp³ complexes as well as trigonal bipyramidal sp³d complexes, whereas Sn (IV) forms trigonal bipyramidal sp³d complexes or octahedral sp³d² complexes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Organotin materials have several applications in industry and medicine since it uses to prepare medications. Moreover, it is used as photo-stabilizers for different plastic polymers such as polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, and polyvinyl alcohol. Herein, it is going to focus on one application which is utilizing organotin complexes as photo-stabilizers of polyvinyl chloride. Since organotin (IV) can easily obtained by oxidizing organotin (II) that is more stable. Organotin (IV) can be designed in different forms depending on the number of organic and anion groups connected to the tin such as mono-organotin, di-, tri- and tetra-compounds. There are several applications of organotin materials in both industrial and medicine areas and in this paper, we are going to study some of a significant photo-stabilizers and their applications and we are going to highlight the using of organotin materials as photo-stabilizers of plastic polymers especially the PVC polymeric films. The challenge to provide a powerful instrument with a high energy conversion is of a great importance to our modern society, not only in terms of conversion but in high-capacity storage derived by the increase for energy demand. In addition, the environmental impact of these new technologies to create a green and sustainable environment. One of these green technologies is the use of dyesensitized solar cells to produce energy and lithium-ion batteries to store the generated energy. The need for high electronic mobility and high surface volume and activity, nano metal oxide was investigated as alternative or a new material in generation and conversion of energy. Organotin (IV) complex is part of the organometallic chemistry and in recently decades have a variety of interesting and application used it. A new class of metallomesogens LC (A) Ph3Sn(VAL), (B) Bu3Sn(VAL), (C) Ph2Sn(VAL)2 and (D) Bu2Sn(VAL)2 was synthesis through the reaction of valsartan ligand with (di- or tri- butyl tin chloride salt) and (di- or tri- phenyl tin chloride salt) in methanol solvent. 1H NMR,119 Sn NMR, FTIR and CHN elemental analyses were measure and the liquid crystalline properties were study by POM. The mesophase in all organotin (IV) carboxylate complexes are thermotropic nematic phase. In complexes (A, C) the optical textures of A show a typical droplet texture and thread shape LC phase transition between (400-440⁰C) higher than mesophase textures in C between (230 - 250⁰C). In complexes (B, D) the optical textures of B appearance a thread shape and the LC phase transition temperature between (200 -400⁰C) and in D thread shape and the transition temperature beginning up to 280⁰C. From a temperature of phase transition show that the complexes (C, D) are start liquid crystal mesophase in lower than complex (A, C) because effect of R group and types which due to an asymmetric arrangement of the molecule and a geometry was calamitic in which the length of the molecule is major in compare with its diameter. The burning of fossil fuels produces carbon dioxide emissions, increased levels of which cause serious environmental problems. Therefore, the design and use of new materials as media for capturing carbon dioxide and other gases, such as hydrogen and methane, has attracted significant research attention. In this work, three metal complexes containing a fusidate moiety were synthesized and tested as storage media for gases. By reacting sodium fusidate and metal chlorides in boiling ethanol, the corresponding metal complexes were obtained with 69–76% yields. The fusidate moiety acts as a bidentate ligand with variable geometry (distortion octahedral, square planner, or tetrahedral) depending on the metal (manganese, copper, or zinc, respectively) it is associated with. The elemental composition of the metal complexes was confirmed via energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and their surface morphology was inspected via field emission scanning electron microscopy. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of the metal complexes varied from 31.2 to 46.9 m2/g, with pore volume and diameters of 0.035–0.049 cm3/g and 3.02–3.18 nm, respectively. The gas uptake at 323 K for carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and methane depended on the metal, gas, surface pore volume, and pore diameter. Reasonable carbon dioxide uptake (6.3–7.2wt%) was achieved with fusidate metal complexes at high temperature and pressure, whereas hydrogen and methane slowly permeated throughout the complexes. The consequences of increased fossil fuel consumption on the environment presents a challenge. Carbon dioxide capture is a useful technique to reduce global warming. Therefore, three carvedilol metal (nickel, cobalt, and copper) complexes were synthesized as potential carbon dioxide storage media. The structural and textural properties of metal carvedilol complexes have been established using various techniques. The metal complexes have mesoporous structures in which pore size was approximately 3 nm. Particle size ranged from 51.0 to 393.9 nm with a relatively small surface area (6.126–9.073 m2/g). The carvedilol metal complexes have either type-III or IV nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherm. The complexes showed reasonable capacity towards carbon dioxide uptake (up to 18.21 cm3/g) under the optimized condition (40 bar and 323 K). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

New sulfadiazine tin complexes were synthesized in 67–80% yields from the reaction of sulfadiazine, and different organotin(IV) chlorides and their structures were established. The synthesized complexes were used as additives at a low concentration (0.5% by weight) to enhance poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) photostability. The PVC samples containing sulfadiazine tin complexes (thickness = 40 μm) were fabricated and irradiated with ultraviolet light at room temperature for 300 h. The changes that occurred within the PVC samples upon irradiation were investigated by inspecting the loss in weight, reduction in the average molecular weight, formation of small degradation fragments containing polyene, carbonyl, and hydroxyl moieties, and changes in the ultraviolet absorption intensity of polymeric materials. The surface morphology of irradiated PVC samples was investigated using optical, atomic force, and scanning electron microscopies. There were lesser changes within the PVC samples with sulfadiazine tin complexes compared to the blank PVC sample. The dimethyltin(IV) complex was found to be the most efficient additive in stabilizing PVC against irradiation. The role played by the complexes in reducing the photodegradation of PVC was investigated, and a mechanism was proposed. J. VINYL ADDIT. Three valsartan metal (tin, nickel, and magnesium) complexes were examined as capture and storage media for methane under high temperature (323 K) and pressure (50 bar) conditions. The surface morphology of the complexes were examined using Field emission scanning electron microscopy and displayed porous structures comprising particles of different shapes and sizes. The narrow pore-size distribution of metal complexes makes them suitable materials for methane capture. The methane adsorption–desorption isotherms of the metal complexes were reversible. The tin(IV) and nickel(II) complexes exhibited type-III physisorption isotherms, while the magnesium(II) complex displayed a type-IV physisorption isotherm. Both types of isotherms are typical for mesoporous materials. The magnesium(II) complex was more efficient compared with the tin(IV) and nickel(II) complexes. Since ancient times, man has been interested in showing his appearance in the best shape and has used make-up materials including lipstick for this purpose. Four lipstick samples were selected for one brand with different colors (Lipstick-03, Lipstick-23, Lipstick-29 and Lipstick-51) as well as two different colors for the so-called magic lipstick (Luxe orang and Luxe yellow). Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) is an analytical technique was used for the elemental analysis for the selected six samples. These tests aims to explain that there are clear elemental differences for the selected samples which can be used to define the identity of each sample. Lipstick-51 has been selected to contaminate some substances that can be commonly used in homes, offices and others. The selected substances were (Plastic bottle, Plastic cup, Glass, Cigarette filter and Tissue paper). The elemental results indicate a partial match for the types of elements in lipstick contaminated with substances taken from the crime scene compared to the original Lipstick-51. Results could be more accurate when identifying the contaminated material and select the most concentrated positions for samples taken from the crime scene and for conducting tests.
