Hosting mega event is an opportunity for hosting city to attract investment in construction of new building and facilities and upgrading its infrastructure and transportation network required for the event. This research paper explores the conceptual elements adopted by Roads & Transport Authority of Dubai to deliver sustainable planning of new metro line route 2020. The main objectives considered in the planning phase of the new metro line are increase ridership, penetration to new to new development and existing urban areas and continuity of the service beyond event period, which will last for 6 months from Oct 2020 to April 2021. Different alignment options were examined against selection criteria that consisted of the following elements: transportation & future developments or transit oriented development TOD, route insertion, constructability and sustainability to ensure integration with urban areas.
