Abstract

The fine structure of histograms of measurements of 239Pu alpha-activity varies periodically, and the period of these variations is equal to sidereal day (1436 minutes). The periodicity is not observed in the experiments with collimator that restricts the alpha particles flow to be oriented to the Polar Star. Based on this study and other independent data, such as measurements conducted by the Arctic expedition, and similarity of the histograms in processes observed at different locations at the same local time, the conclusion was made, that the fine structure of statistical distributions of the observed processes depends on the celestial sphere., Comment: 11 pages, 6 pages, 3 tables more...

Abstract

SICANE is a neutron scattering multidetector facility for the determination of the quenching factor (ratio of the response to nuclear recoils and to electrons) of cryogenic detectors used in direct WIMP searches. Well collimated monoenergetic neutron beams are obtained with inverse (p,n) reactions. Abstract

The EDELWEISS Dark Matter Search uses low-temperature Ge detectors with heat and ionisation read-out to identify nuclear recoils induced by elastic collisions with WIMPs from the galactic halo. Preliminary results obtained with 320g bolometers are described. After a few weeks of data taking, data accumulated with one of these detectors already allow to reach the upper part of the DAMA region.
