This paper describes research investigating couples who undertook the procedure of becoming adoptive parents, studying the partners’ representations of relationships in the context of their psychological sense of loss owing to infertility. The sample consisted of 100 subjects (50 couples) who took part in an assessment process related to adoption within the Social Services structures. The subjects had the following features in common: they were between 35 and 45 years of age; the duration of their marriages was between 7 and 10 years; none had biological or previously adopted children. The instruments used were a Psycho-Social Questionnaire, the Adult Attachment Interview (Main & Goldwin, 1998) and the Family Life Space (Gozzoli & Tamanza, 1998). The results showed a majority of couples classified by the AAI as ‘Secure’, and a lack of couples formed by partners both classified as ‘Insecure’. Moreover, we found a prevalence of couples who are classified by the FLS instrument as failing in ‘space government’ (Fragmentation and Overfilling = 68%). These results suggest that adoptive couples show a strong appreciation of affect and attachment needs, but are still deeply in crisis in the personal and family relationship sectors of their lives.

We present the results of a study carried out in Italy with 39 Italian couples seeking to adopt, aged between 35 and 45years, and 39 matched non-adoptive couples which compared their attachment states of mind with respect to caregivers and partners and quality of couple relationship. Both partners of the couples completed individually measures of attachment to caregiver (Adult Attachment Interview; AAI), attachment to partner (Current Relationship Interview; CRI and Experiences in Close Relationships Scale-Revised; ECR-R) and marital quality (Dyadic Adjustment Scale; DAS). The results showed that couples seeking to adopt did not differ from the control group with respect to attachment to caregivers (AAI). However potential adoptive fathers were more likely to show secure attachment classifications with respect to partner (CRI) than non-adoptive fathers. Finally, couples seeking to adopt expressed higher levels of positive feelings and thoughts within the couple relationship (ECR-R) and better perceived quality of marital relationship (DAS) than the control group. Overall, these findings suggested that couples seeking to adopt placed a high value on attachment relationships, which is considered a relevant factor for positive outcome of adoption.

La presente investigación fue: Determinar la aplicación del lenguajes artísticos para mejorar las habilidades sociales en los niños de 3 años de la Institución Educativa Inicial 386 VRHT, Independencia, 2016. La metodología empleada fue el enfoque cuantitativo. La investigación es aplicada. El diseño de la investigación es cuasi experimental, que recogió la información en un periodo específico, del Pretes y Postest del programa lenguaje artístico, la muestra estuvo conformada por 40 niños divididos en dos grupos , en el grupo control conformado por 20 niños y 20 en el grupo experimental . La técnica empleada fue de observación y el instrumento lista de cotejo. Los resultados fueron analizados mediante el estadígrafo no paramétricos, en este caso, mediante T de Student. Asimismo en la parte descriptiva en el grupo experimental y el grupo control, registra un nivel bajo y media en las habilidades sociales el 35% y el 65% respectivamente. En cambio registra el 80% la salida del grupo experimental, es decir un nivel alto después de aplicar el programa lenguajes artísticos, mientras el grupo control muestra el 40% que representa un nivel alto. De acuerdo a los datos que se observan en el reporte estadístico el valor de significación bilateral o el P valor es < 0,05 obtenido, lo que significa que estas diferencias son producto de la aplicación del programa. En consecuencia, se rechaza la hipótesis nula aceptándose la hipótesis alterna. The chemical composition affects the sensory properties and quality of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO). In addition, its knowledge can supply valuable information about the cultivar and its geographical origin. The goal of this study is to obtain a protocol in order to be able to recognize the composition of various Sardinian oils and to consequently correlate them with their production areas. High-resolution 1H NMR spectroscopy was used to analyze 100 (82 training + 18 test sets) samples of EVOO from the Bosana cultivar, collected from different growing areas in Sardinia (Italy). Growth areas were classified on the basis of FAO-UNEP aridity index. NMR data were processed with multivariate statistical analysis. NMR profiling presents a connection between environmental factors of Sardinian cultivation areas and the chemical composition of EVOO. An NMR-based metabolomic approach that uses six “one-to-one” OPLS-DA models allowed us to discriminate the different influence of evapotranspiration, solar exposure, and altitude on the chemical composition of Bosana EVOO. Practical Applications: Detailed knowledge of NMR spectra pattern variations could have a potential impact on olive oil market. The application of the 1H NMR metabolomic, based on chemometric models, can be a useful tool in order to certificate the geographical origin of EVOO. An NMR-based metabolomic approach,using “one-to-one” OPLS-DA models, allows to identify biomarkers of different production zones in “Bosana” Sardinian EVOO.

In Vietnam, the high prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection represents a serious health problem. Virulence genes of H. pylori have been associated to increased risk of severe gastrointestinal diseases and the genetic background differs in geographical areas. We investigated cagA and vacA genotypes of H. pylori from dyspeptic patients from central Vietnam and the correlation with clinical outcomes; we also performed sequencing analysis of partial cagA gene. Overall, 84% of strains were cagA-positive, 75% were East-Asian type with a prevalence of vacAs1i1m1 and vacAs1i1m2 genotypes (66.7% and 33.3%, respectively) and 9% were Western type vacAs1i1m1 (n=4) and vacAs1i1m2 (n=4); vacAs1i2m2 (n=4) and vacAs2i2m2 (n=2) genotypes were associated to cagA-negative. Strains from gastric ulcer and cancer were of East-Asian type, while cagA-negative or Western strains were from gastritis and duodenal ulcer. The characterization and differentiation of olive oil high-quality production play a key role in ensuring adequate levels of income for workers in the sector and to reward the merchandise, sensory, and health quality aspects. Furthermore, the development and implementation of new tools and methodologies is more and more required by the European Community in a framework of food security. In this context, the main aim of the thesis is to explore the relationships between the environment factors and the virgin olive oils (EVOO) composition and microbiological quality in the double perspective of characterization and food safety, in order to increase and disseminate knowledge among consumers and operators in the olive oil chain. The EVOO productions deriving from the most widespread cultivar in Sardinia (Italy) were characterized and differentiated in terms of chemical components on the basis of their growing area, and the influence of environmental factors on oil quality was explored through NMR spectroscopy integrated with multivariate statistic and Geographic Information System. Then, microbial species were isolated, selected, and identified in EVOO products. The results (i) showed the potential of the proposed methodology for the construction of flexible and scalable chemometric models suitable to be applied for the zoning and protection of valuable products; and (ii) encouraged more studies and researches to clarify the role played by microbiological components.

Diffusion is a central process in many biological, chemical, and physical systems. We describe an experiment that employs the interference of laser beams to allow the measurement of molecular diffusion on submillimeter length scales. The interference fringes of two intersecting pump beams within a dye solution create a sinusoidal distribution of long-lived molecular excited states. A third probe beam is incident at a wavelength at which the indices of refraction of the ground and excited states are different, so the probe beam diffracts from the spatially periodic excited-state pattern. After the pump beams are switched off, the excited-state periodicity washes out as the system diffuses back to equilibrium. The molecular diffusion constant is obtained from the rate constant of the exponential decay of the diffracted beam. It is also possible to measure the excited-state lifetime.

This study examined the psychometric properties of a newly translated Italian version of the Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R) Scale. The sample comprised 1,363 adults (906 women, 456 men, 1 unreported sex; ages 18-64 yr., M = 33.4, SD = 8.9; 84.4% reported being engaged in a romantic relationship, 9.4% declared being single), all living in Italy and speaking Italian as their first language. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses showed the expected bi-factorial (anxiety/avoidance) structure and a close correspondence between factors and scales. Test-retest and internal consistency reliabilities were adequate. Correlations with the Relationship Questionnaire, a categorical measure of attachment, and with the Dyadic Adjustment Scale were consistent with the theoretical relations among the constructs. The findings confirm the transcultural validity of the ECR-R. © Psychological Reports 2014.

INTRODUCTION The cervical vertebrae are the smallest of the moveable vertebrae, and are characterized by a foramen in each transverse process. The transverse process is morphologically composite around the foramen transversarium. AIM The present study has been undertaken to know the incidence of double foramen transversarium in dried cervical vertebrae in upper Assam population. MATERIALS & METHODS A total number of 210 dried cervical vertebrae of unknown age and sex were collected from the anatomy department. All the collected cervical vertebrae were examined macroscopically for the existence of the double foramen transversarium on both sides. The data was then compiled and later analyzed. RESULTS Out of 210 cervical vertebrae, the double foramen transversarium was found in 12(5.7%) vertebrae. Among these 12 specimens, the double foramen is by the addition of a small one behind the ordinary foramen in eight (0.6%) vertebrae; whereas in rest four (0.3%) vertebrae, on one side, there is an hour-glass contraction marking off two foramina. The incidence of unilateral duplication was higher than bilateral. DISCUSSION The incidence of double foramen transversarium reported by the various authors varies from 1.5% to 23.15%. CONCLUSION We know that the transverse foramina are unique to the cervical vertebrae and these foramina enclose and protect the vertebral artery; so the morphological knowledge of transverse foramina is clinically important to rule out any variation in the course of the vertebral artery. This will help to guide the radiologist and spine surgeon in making a diagnosis as well as surgeries of this region.

INTRODUCTION: The “mamma” or “breast” is a modified, ectodermal, glandular structure located in the superficial fascia of the anterior chest wall. In female they are evolved to secrete milk for the nourishment of their offspring. They are also present in a rudimentary form in males. MATERIALS AND METHODS: After obtaining institutional ethical clearance t he specimens of human mammary gland were divided into two groups i.e. reproductive (14 to 49) and post - menopausal (50 and above) age. The specimens of both the age group were collected from fresh unembalmed human cadaver. The slides were prepared using the standard laboratory procedure. Stained slides were studied for different structures of the mammary gland such as the glandular structures, ducts and myoepithelial cells. Diameters of the ducts were measured in both age groups. The data were analyzed to ca lculate the mean and ‘t’ test was applied to find out the significant difference between mean values. RESULTS: The average diameter of the lactiferous duct as measured by micrometer scale was 2.0 mm and 0.83 mm in reproductive and post - menopausal age group respectively. A clinical case of infection caused by Fasciolopsis buski in a 24 weeks pregnant woman from Vietnam affected by systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is reported here. On 22 February 2012 the patient was admitted to Hue Hospital in Hue, Vietnam, with a diagnosis of general illness and suspected acute anaemia. Laboratory analysis indicated possible SLE syndrome and coprological tests demonstrated the presence of F. buski eggs. During hospitalization the patient naturally eliminated the adult form in faeces suggesting the infection had already progressed at least for three months. One month after hospitalization due to the high severity of both SLE and fasciolopsiasis, a medical abortion was carried out and the following day the patient died. Even though infection due to Fasciolopsis buski is rare, this case highlights the importance of an accurate and prompt diagnosis of this infectious agent, which may have saved the foetus and mother’s lives.

Increasing antimicrobial resistance to key antibiotics in Helicobacter pylori has become a main cause of treatment failures in many countries, including Vietnam. For this reason it is advisable to perform antimicrobial sensitivity tests to provide more focused regimens for H. pylori eradication. However, this approach is generally unavailable for H. pylori in Vietnam and the selection of treatment regimens is mainly based on the trend of antibiotic use in the population, resistance development in the region, and history of H. pylori eradication of patients. The aim of this review is to examine the current situation of antimicrobial resistance in Vietnam and suggest management strategies for treatment selection.
