Herein, ${p}$ – type CdO thin films coated onto ${n}$ – type Si crystals are employed to form metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFET). In the broken gap design, the valence band edge of Si substrates centered at 5.25 eV is aligned at conduction band edges of CdO centered at 5.20 eV. The construction of the energy band diagram indicated that the devices could reveal a deep built in potential of 4.68 eV. The device is fabricated by the thermal evaporation technique under vacuum pressure of 10−5 mbar. CdO thin films grown onto Si thin crystals form a randomly distributed nanorod-like grains of rod length and diameter of $\sim 2.0 {\mu m}$ and 160 nm, respectively. In addition, ${n}-$ Si/ ${p}-$ CdO heterojunctions displayed typical diode characteristics with ideality factors of ~1.40 and barrier height of 0.67 eV. As passive mode devices, the C-V curves displayed enhanced PMOS channel with the ability of capacitance depletions in a wide range of frequency (10M–1.0 GHz). The depletion width of the device widens from 7.0 nm to 660 nm in that frequency domain. Moreover, the biased and unbiased impedance spectra analyses in the frequency domain of 1.0M–1.0 GHz, indicated the voltage controllability of the devices when operated as microwave cavities. The magnitude of the reflection coefficient spectra indicated the ability of using the MOSFET devices as high pass filters. The features of the ${n}-Si\textit {/p}$ -CdO heterojunctions nominate them for use as microwave band filters, PMOS field effect transistors and as frequency and voltage controlled tunable capacitors

Purpose to determine COVID-19 vaccination coverage among pregnant women and investigate the factors affecting vaccine uptake. Design Analytical cross-sectional study. Setting Palestinian health care facilities. Between October and November 2021 – eight months after the country’s first COVID-19 vaccination. Sample We needed 820 people to estimate vaccination coverage among pregnant women with a precision rate of 3%. Therefore, we invited 950 pregnant Palestinian women who were eligible and had a response rate of 91.6%. Measures An interviewer-administered questionnaire examined vaccination uptake, attitudes, and concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine. Analysis Bivariable and multivariable analysis using SPSS. Results vaccination uptake was reported by 219 pregnant women [25.5%, 95% CI: 22.6% −28.5%]. Knowledge (aOR=2.0; 95% CI: 1.2-3.1), perceived benefits (aOR=1.1; 95% CI: 1.06-1.16), employment (aOR=5; 95% CI: 3.1-8.1), and underlying medical condition (aOR=2.1; 95% CI: 1.1-4.1) predicted uptake. Reporting vaccine barriers reduces vaccine uptake (aOR=.92; 95% CI: .89-95). Conclusions Pregnant women’s COVID-19 vaccination rates are low. Concerns regarding the COVID-19 vaccine for infants affected their decision. COVID-19 vaccination regulations and legislative nudges drove maternal vaccination. Vaccine fears and misconceptions among pregnant women should be addressed.

- Abstract
The global prevalence of vitamin D deficiency is high. Poor vitamin D status, especially in women, has been reported in several countries in the Middle East despite adequate year-round sunlight for vitamin D synthesis. However, data on vitamin D status in Palestine are scarce. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate vitamin D status based on serum concentrations of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol [25-(OH)D] among young healthy Palestinian students (18–27 years) and to assess associations between 25-(OH)D concentrations and several predictors. The mean 25-(OH)D concentration of women (n 151) was 27⋅2 ± 14⋅5 nmol/l, with the majority having insufficient (31⋅1 %) or deficient (<60 %) 25-(OH)D status. Only 7 % of women achieved sufficient or optimal 25-(OH)D status. In contrast, men (n 52) had a mean 25-(OH)D concentration of 58⋅3 ± 14⋅5 nmol/l, with none classified as deficient, and most obtaining sufficient (55⋅8 %) or even optimal 25-(OH)D status (11⋅5 %). Among women, 98 % wore a hijab and 74 % regularly used sunscreen. Daily dietary vitamin D intake (3-d 24-h recalls) was 45⋅1 ± 36⋅1 IU in the total group (no sex differences). After adjustment, multiple linear regression models showed significant associations between 25-(OH)D concentrations and the use of supplements (B = 0⋅069; P = 0⋅020) and dietary vitamin D (B = 0⋅001; P = 0⋅028). In gender-stratified analysis, the association between supplement use and 25-(OH)D concentrations was significant in women (B = 0⋅076; P = 0⋅040). The vitamin D status of women in the present cohort is critical and appears to be mainly due to wearing a hijab, regular use of sunscreen and low dietary vitamin D intake. The vitamin D status of the women should be improved by taking vitamin D containing supplements or fortified foods.

- Abstract
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the fragility of the global food system, sending shockwaves across countries' societies and economy. This has presented formidable challenges to sustaining a healthy and resilient lifestyle. The objective of this study is to examine the food consumption patterns and assess diet diversity indicators, primarily focusing on the food consumption score (FCS), among households in 38 countries both before and during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional study with 37 207 participants (mean age: 36.70 ± 14.79, with 77 % women) was conducted in 38 countries through an online survey administered between April and June 2020. The study utilized a pre-tested food frequency questionnaire to explore food consumption patterns both before and during the COVID-19 periods. Additionally, the study computed Food Consumption Score (FCS) as a proxy indicator for assessing the dietary diversity of households. Findings: This quantification of global, regional and national dietary diversity across 38 countries showed an increment in the consumption of all food groups but a drop in the intake of vegetables and in the dietary diversity. The household's food consumption scores indicating dietary diversity varied across regions. It decreased in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries, including Lebanon (p < 0.001) and increased in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries including Bahrain (p = 0.003), Egypt (p < 0.001) and United Arab Emirates (p = 0.013). A decline in the household's dietary diversity was observed in Australia (p < 0.001), in South Africa including Uganda (p < 0.001), in Europe including Belgium (p < 0.001), Denmark (p = 0.002), Finland (p < 0.001) and Netherland (p = 0.027) and in South America including Ecuador (p < 0.001), Brazil (p < 0.001), Mexico (p < 0.0001) and Peru (p < 0.001). Middle and older ages [OR = 1.2; 95 % CI = [1.125–1.426] [OR = 2.5; 95 % CI = [1.951–3.064], being a woman [O

Herein, thin films of FeSe are coated onto glass and semitransparent Pb substrate of thicknesses of 200 nm. The produced glass/FeSe (GFS) and Pb/FeSe (PFS) are structurally, compositionally, and optically characterized. It is observed that Pb substrates induced the crystallinity of cubic FeSe and cubic PbSe. On average, 21% of the phases in FeSe films are identified as PbSe. Due to the strong orbital overlapping between Pb and FeSe, Pb substrate increases the light absorption, the dielectric constant, the optical conductivity, and the terahertz cutoff frequency by ≈150 %, 180 %, 263 %, and 101 %, respectively. In addition the direct and indirect energy bandgaps shrink from 2.49 and 2.80 to 2.41 and 2.50 eV, respectively. Moreover, treating GFS and PFS as terahertz optical resonators have shown that Pb substrates enhanced the drift mobility and increased the plasmon frequency making it adequate for 6G technology applications. An important feature of the PFS optical resonator is the stability of the terahertz cutoff frequency at 16 THz in the visible range of light. This feature together with the enhanced optical absorption in the visible light region makes the PFS films attractive for visible light communication technology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Herein, stacked layers of FeSe2 deposited onto ytterbium substrates using the thermal evaporation technique under a vacuum pressure of 10−5 mbar are observed to form nanowire bundles (NBs). Structural investigations on these NBs have shown the preferred growth of orthorhombic FeSe2 in addition to hexagonal ytterbium selenide as a minor phase in the structure of FeSe2. Impedance spectroscopy analyses conducted in the frequency domain of 0.01–1.80 GHz show that FeSe2 stacks can exhibit a negative capacitance effect and bandstop filter characteristics. For these bandstop filters, the refection coefficient (S11$S_{11}$), the voltage standing wave ratios (VSWR$\text{VSWR}$), and the return loss (Lr$L_{\text{r}}$) spectra display optimum values at a notch frequency of 0.87 GHz. In addition, computational analysis using Lorentz oscillator model has shown that the negativity of the capacitance is dominated by two oscillators centered at 0.08 and 1.25 GHz. On the other hand, the insertion of aluminum nanosheets between the stacked layers of FeSe2 has been observed to decrease the negativity of the capacitance, increase the values of S11$S_{11}$ and Lr$L_{\text{r}}$, and bring the VSWR$\text{VSWR}$ closer to ideality. FeSe2 nanowire bundles resulting from FeSe2 stacks comprising Al nanosheets are considered suitable for microwave communication technology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, iron selenide layers are deposited onto glass and lead substrates to perform as terahertz filters. The layers are deposited by the thermal evaporation technique under a vacuum pressure of 10
–5 mbar. Glass/FeSe2 (GFS) and Pb/FeSe2 (PFS) films are structurally, morphologically and electrically characterized. The atomic composition of the GFS films contained excess selenium that reacted with Pb forming a PbSe layer. This layer induced the crystallinity of iron selenide. The preferred crystal structure of FeSe2 was cubic with cell parameters of a = b = c = 3.04 Å and space group P m 3 m . Lead substrates increased the room temperature electrical conductivity of GFS films from of 1.52 × 10 - 5 (Ω cm) - 1 to 6.88 × 10 - 2 (Ω cm) - 1 . Analyses of the electrical conduction mechanism in the temperature range of 25–330 K have shown that coating the films onto Pb substrates shifted the accepter level from 182 to 58 meV, decreased the degree of structural disorder, shorten the average hopping range from 59 to 19 Å and increased the density of localized states near Fermi level by two orders of magnitude. The conductivity of PFS films exhibited degenerate semiconductor characteristics in the temperature range of 120–28 K. This feature is followed by an evidence of exhibiting superconductivity at critical temperatures lower than 24 K. On the other hand the impedance spectroscopy measurements in the driving signal frequency domain of 0.01–1.0 GHz have shown that Pb/FeSe2 /Ag interfaces can perform as band filters showing microwave cutoff frequency values reaching 100 GHz at driving signal frequency of 1.0 GHz. These band filters are ideal for 6G technology nominating PFS films for high frequency applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

Herein thin films of CrSe deposited by the thermal evaporation technique onto Pt substrates are designed as Schottky diodes. It is observed that the Pt/CrSe/C (PCC) Schottky diodes are of tunneling type showing barrier height and widths of 0.56 eV and 18 nm, respectively. These diodes displayed biasing dependent nonlinearity and negative slope of differential resistance. The analyses of the cutoff frequency spectra indicated that PCC devices can exhibit high cutoff frequency up to 17 GHz based on the driving signal frequency. The features of the PCC devices make it promising as electronic component suitable for 5G/6G technology applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of implementing a Nurse Navigator (NN) to improve the rate and timeliness of molecular tumor testing. Methods: This is an evaluation of the impact of education sessions, consensus building, and NN implementation for molecular tumor testing in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer. The NNs’ responsibilities included attending tumor boards and ensuring Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is ordered, reviewed, and coordinated for appropriate patients. Results: NNs significantly improved NGS testing rates from 35.29% to 77.27%, p = 0.002. Ordering a targeted panel test (TPT) was the most common reason for not ordering NGS in the pre-NN cohort (13/22, 59%). The total turnaround time for testing was reduced after the introduction of NNs from 145.2 days to 42.8 days, p < 0.0001. The post-NN group had a significantly higher rate of actionable mutations identified for the recurrent setting [67.6% versus 20.8% (p = 0.0005)] and a trend towards a higher rate of actionable mutations identified in the frontline setting [41.2% versus 33.3% (p = 0.41)]. Conclusion: NNs significantly improved somatic tumor testing rates and timeliness for patients with ovarian cancer. Discontinuing TPT in favor of NGS revealed a higher rate of actionable tumor mutations that would have been missed with TPT alone.

- Abstract
Cancer stem cells (CSC) within non–small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) tumors drive NSCLC progression, metastasis, relapse, and intrinsic chemoresistance. Understanding the mechanisms that support the malignant phenotypes of NSCLC CSCs may provide insights for improved NSCLC therapeutic interventions. Here, we report that expression of RAB27B, a small GTPase, is significantly upregulated in NSCLC CSCs when compared with bulk cancer cells (BCC). Short hairpin RNA–mediated knockdown of RAB27B leads to a loss of stem cell marker gene expression and reduced NSCLC spheroid growth, clonal expansion, transformed growth, invasion, and tumorigenicity. We find that NSCLC CSCs secrete significantly more extracellular vesicles (EV) than BCCs, and that this is RAB27B-dependent. Furthermore, CSC-derived EVs, but not BCC-derived EVs, induce spheroid growth, clonal expansion, and invasion in BCCs. Finally, RAB27B is required for CSC-derived EV-induced stemness in BCCs. Taken together, our results indicate that RAB27B is required for maintenance of a highly tumorigenic, cancer-initiating, invasive stem-like cell population in NSCLC and RAB27B is involved in propagating EV-mediated communication from NSCLC CSCs to BCCs. Our findings further suggest that inhibition of RAB27B-dependent EV secretion may be a potential therapeutic strategy for NSCLC.Significance:Expression of RAB27B in CSCs leads to elevated levels of EVs that mediate communication between CSCs and BCCs that maintains a stem-like phenotype in NSCLC cells.
