Abstract Periodontal therapy usually requires local anesthesia. If effective, a non-invasive, liposomal anesthetic gel could increase the levels of acceptance of patients in relation to periodontal therapy. Objective: This study investigated the efficacy of liposomal anesthetic gel for pain control during periodontal therapy. Methodology: Forty volunteers with moderate to severe chronic periodontitis were recruited, of which at least three sextants required periodontal therapy. At least one of the selected teeth had one site with a probing depth of ≥4 mm. The volunteers received the following three gels: a placebo, lidocaine/prilocaine (Oraqix®), or a liposomal lidocaine/prilocaine, which were applied to different sextants. Pain frequency was registered during treatment and the volunteers received a digital counter to register any painful or uncomfortable experiences. At the end of each session, the volunteers indicated their pain intensity using rating scales (NRS-101 and VRS-4). The volunteers had their hemodynamic parameters measured by a non-invasive digital monitor. Results: Pain frequency/intensity did not show statistical difference between intervention groups. The tested gels did not interfere with the hemodynamic indices. Dental anxiety, suppuration and probing depth could influence pain during periodontal therapy. Conclusion: Our results suggest limited indications for the use of non-invasive anesthesia when used for scaling and root planing. Intra-pocket anesthetic gel could be a good option for anxious patients, or those who have a fear of needles.

254. Orbit orientation in didelphid marsupials (Didelphimorphia: Didelphidae).

- Abstract
Usually considered a morphologically conservative group, didelphid marsupials present considerable variation in ecology and body size, some of which were shown to relate to morphological structures. Thus, changes on orbit morphology are likely and could be related to that variation. We calculated orbit orientation in 873 specimens of 16 Didelphidae genera yielding estimates of orbits convergence (their position relative to midsagittal line) and verticality (their position relative to frontal plane). We then compared similarities in these variables across taxa to ecological, morphological and phylogenetic data to evaluate the influencing factors on orbit orientation in didelphids. We found an inverse relation between convergence and verticality. Didelphids orbits have low verticality but are highly convergent, yet orbit orientation differs significantly between taxa, and that variation is related to morphological aspects of the cranium. Rostral variables are the only morphological features correlated with orbit orientation: increasing snout length yields more convergent orbits, whereas increase on snout breadth imply in more vertical orbits. Size and encephalization quotients are uncorrelated with orbit orientation. Among ecological data, diet showed significant correlation whereas locomotion is the factor that less affects the position of orbits. Phylogeny is uncorrelated to any orbital parameters measured. Ecological factors seemingly play a more important role on orbit orientation than previously expected, and differentiation on orbit orientation seems to be more functional than inherited. Thus, despite the apparent homogeneity on didelphid morphology, there is subtle morphological variability that may be directly related to feeding behavior.

- Abstract

- Abstract

- Abstract
ABSTRACTThe extraintestinal pathogen termed avian pathogenic Escherichia coli(APEC) is known to cause colibacillosis in chickens. The molecular basis of APEC pathogenesis is not fully elucidated yet. In this work, we deleted a component of the Yad gene cluster (yadC) in order to understand the role of Yad in the pathogenicity of the APEC strain SCI-07. In vitro, the transcription level of yadCwas upregulated at 41°C and downregulated at 22°C. The yadCexpression in vivowas more pronounced in lungs than in spleen, suggesting a role in the early steps of the infection. Chicks infected with the wild-type and mutant strains presented, respectively, 80% and 50% mortality rates. The ΔyadCstrain presented a slightly decreased ability to adhere to HeLa cells with or without the d-mannose analog compared with the wild type. Real-time PCR (RT-PCR) assays showed that fimHwas downregulated (P< 0.05) and csgAand ecpAwere slightly upregulated in the mutant strain, showing that yadCmodulates expression of other fimbriae. Bacterial internalization studies showed that the ΔyadCstrain had a lower number of intracellular bacteria recovered from Hep-2 cells and HD11 cells than the wild-type strain (P< 0.05). Motility assays in soft agar demonstrated that the ΔyadCstrain was less motile than the wild type (P< 0.01). Curiously, flagellum-associated genes were not dramatically downregulated in the ΔyadCstrain. Taken together, the results show that the fimbrial adhesin Yad contributes to the pathogenicity and modulates different biological characteristics of the APEC strain SCI-07.

Aim: To compare the use of etoricoxib and dexamethasone for postoperative pain prevention and control after mucogingival surgery. Methods: Fifty-eight patients with indication for mucogingival surgery took part in this randomized parallel double-blind clinical trial. They were divided into three groups (G): G1 -- placebo 1 h before surgery; G2 -- 8 mg dexamethasone 1 h before surgery; G3 -- 90 mg etoricoxib 1 h before surgery. Pain intensity was assessed in donor and recipient sites separately using the 101-point numerical rating scale NRS -- 101, every hour for the first 8 h after surgery and three times a day on the following 3 days. Results: there was a statistically significant difference in the postoperative pain intensity in the donor site between G1 and G3 after 1 h, 2 h, 3 h, 7 h, 8 h and on the second day -- in the evening after 32 h; between G1 and G2 after 2 h and 3 h, and between G2 and G3 only after the first hour. Pain intensity in the recipient site was statistically significant between G1 and G3 after 1 and 2 h (p<0.05). In addition, there was a lower ingestion of rescue medication in G2 and in G3 than in G1 (p=0.002). Conclusions: the use of a pre-emptive single dose of etoricoxib or dexamethasone may be considered an effective protocol for postoperative pain prevention and control after mucogingival surgery. The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of toothbrushing with desensitizing toothpastes on dentin permeability and dentinal tubule occlusion. Fifty rats provided two hundred incisor teeth divided into five groups: DW, brushed with distilled water (control); FT, brushed with fluoride toothpaste; SCT, brushed with strontium chloride toothpaste; PCT, brushed with potassium citrate toothpaste; and PNT, brushed with potassium nitrate toothpaste. Cavities were prepared to expose the dentinal tubules, and the incisor teeth were brushed using the experimental agents. After each treatment, Evans blue dye solution was applied to the teeth. Dentin permeability was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-rays (EDX). There were significant differences (p < 0.0001, ANOVA) among the groups regarding dentin permeability, number of dentinal tubules, diameter of dentinal tubules, and opened tubular area. In the SCT, PCT and PNT groups, opened and partially occluded tubules, deposits, and a few smear layers were observed. In the DW and FT groups, most of the dentinal tubules were open, with no deposits or smear layers on the dentin. EDX revealed peaks of calcium and phosphorus in all of the groups, as well as traces of strontium in the SCT group and of potassium in the PCT and PNT groups. Desensitizing toothpaste decreased dentin permeability, although it produced only partial dentin tubule occlusion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To compare in vitro shear bond strength (SBS) of different orthodontic adhesives in bonding and repeatedly rebonding metal brackets, and to evaluate the bond failure site with the adhesive remnant index (ARI). Methods: Specimens consisted of 90 extracted human first premolars, randomly divided into three groups (n=30). The adhesives Alpha Plast (AP), Concise™ (CO) and Transbond™ XT (TB) were used in each group. Three SBS tests were performed, i.e., one at T0 (initial) and the other two at T1 and T2 (first and second rebondings, respectively), observing a 24-hour interval. The tests were performed in a Shimadzu AG-I (10kN) SBS testing machine, at a speed of 0.5 mm/min. Results: SBS data were subjected to ANOVA, Tukey's test and Bonferroni test (p<0.05). For the ARI, the Kruskal Wallis test was performed, followed by the Dunn test. The results revealed that at T
o groups AP and CO showed SBS values that were near, but above TB values; and at T1 and T2 , the highest SBS values were observed for the AP group, followed by the CO and TB groups. Conclusion: Statistically significant differences were found in SBS between groups AP, CO and TB during bonding and repeated rebondings of unused metal brackets, with group AP achieving the highest SBS value. Regarding ARI, adhesive AP exhibited bond failure at the enamel-adhesive interface, with a higher enamel fracture frequency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

Aim: This in vitro study evaluated gap width formation and marginal microleakage in Class II composite restorations light-cured with three different light-curing units. Methods: Standardized cavities in the proximal surfaces of 36 human third molars were made with margins located below the cementoenamel junction. Cavities were restored with Filtek P60 (3M ESPE), inserted with a photocondenser tip and light-cured with three different methods: GI - Optilux401 (halogen); GII -- ColtoluxLED (LED) and GIII --UltraLumeLED5 (LED). After finishing the restorations, teeth were subjected to a thermal cycling regimen of 500 cycles (5°C ± 2°C and 55°C ± 2°C), totalizing 500 cycles. Thereafter, the teeth were sectioned in a buccolingual direction and in the center of the restorations. Half of the specimens (18) were used to evaluate marginal microleakage, by measuring of dye penetration in cross-sectioned specimens, and the other half was used to analyzed the gap formation width by SEM observations (1000X). Data were submitted to Kruskal-Wallis (α=0.05). Results: The mean values of gap width (µm) were: GI 3.28±3.34; GII 1.48±1.89 and GIII 3.11±3.45, and microleakage was not affected by the light-curing units. Conclusions: There were no differences between the light-curing methods in gap formation and marginal microleakage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Background: Postoperative pain is an adverse effect of periodontal surgeries and may therefore be prevented or minimized. This study was conducted to evaluate the clinical efficacy of two selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors, celecoxib and etoricoxib, on pain prevention after periodontal surgery. Methods: For this double-masked, parallel-group, placebo-controlled, and randomized clinical trial, 56 open-flap debridement surgeries were performed. The groups received three different protocols 1 hour before surgery: 1) 200 mg celecoxib (and another 200 mg 12 hours after the first dose); 2) 120 mg etoricoxib; or 3) placebo. Pain intensity and discomfort were assessed up to 2 days after surgery using the visual analog scale and the four-point verbal rating scale, respectively. Patients were instructed to take 750 mg acetaminophen as a rescue medication if necessary. Results: Pain intensity levels in the etoricoxib group were lower than in the placebo group at the 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-, 6-, and 7-hour periods after surgery (Kruskal-Wallis test; P <0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between celecoxib and etoricoxib. Discomfort in the celecoxib group was significantly lower than in the placebo group only at the 3-hour period (P= 0.03). Rescue medication intake was significantly less frequent in the etoricoxib group than in the placebo and celecoxib groups (analysis of variance; P = 0.009). Conclusion: it was concluded that a single etoricoxib dose is not superior to two split doses of celecoxib when used for pain prevention after open-flap debridement surgery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Background: Several anti-inflammatory drugs have been used to reduce pain and discomfort after periodontal surgeries. This study evaluates the efficacy of using etoricoxib and dexamethasone for pain prevention after open-flap debridement surgery. Methods: For this prospective, double-masked, crossover, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial, open-flap debridement surgeries were performed on 15 patients (eight males and seven females, age range 20 to 56 years: mean age ± SD: 40 ± 9.7 years) who presented with chronic periodontitis after nonsurgical periodontal therapy at three quadrants. Each patient underwent three surgical procedures at intervals of 30 days and received one of the following premedication protocols 1-hour before surgery: group 1 = placebo, group 2 = 8 mg dexamethasone, and group 3 = 120 mg etoricoxib. Rescue medication (750 mg acetaminophen) was given to each patient who was instructed to take it when necessary. Pain intensity and discomfort were evaluated by a 101-point numeric rate scale and a four-point verbal rate scale, respectively, hourly for the first 8 hours after surgery and three times a day on the following 3 days. Results: The results demonstrate that groups 2 and 3 present reduced postoperative pain-intensity levels compared to group 1. There were statistically significant differences at the 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 hour-periods after surgery (Friedman test; P<0.05). Furthermore, rescue-medication intake was significantly lower for groups 2 and 3 than for group 1 (analysis of variance; P<0.02). Conclusion: The adoption of a preemptive medication protocol using etoricoxib or dexamethasone may be considered effective for pain and discomfort prevention after open-flap debridement surgeries. This study was done to assess the influence of the topical application of two different desensitizing agents on dentin permeability and dentinal tubule occlusion. Twenty-one rats provided 84 teeth: 36 for the in vitro and 48 for the in vivo investigation. The following agents were tested: Group 1, 2% potassium nitrate plus 2% sodium fluoride gel; Group 2, 5% sodium fluoride varnish; Group 3, 3% hydroxyethylcellulose gel (control). Cervical cavities were prepared and EDTA was applied to expose the dentinal tubules. After each treatment, Evans blue dye was applied to the teeth. Dentin permeability, scanning electron microscope (SEM) sections, and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) were analyzed. One-way ANOVA was used to compare the data. There were significant differences (P < 0.05) among groups for dentin permeability, number of tubules/mm2, tubule area and tubular diameter. Groups 1 and 2 (both in vitro and in vivo) showed open and partially occluded tubules. Group 3 had the most open tubules. EDX revealed similar composition for both experimental conditions. Within the limits of the study, 2% nitrate potassium plus 2% sodium fluoride gel and 5% fluoride varnish decreased the dentin permeability, resulting in partial tubular occlusion. One hundred twelve specimens from bovine incisors were divided into eight groups: Group 1 (treated with 10% strontium chloride gel), Group 2 (treated with 2% sodium fluoride gel), Group 3 (treated with 2% stannous fluoride gel), Group 4 (treated with 5% potassium nitrate gel), Group 5 (treated with 10% potassium nitrate gel), Group 6 (treated with 3% potassium oxalate gel), Group 7 (treated with hydroxyethylcellulose gel), and Group 8 (which received no treatment). Dentinal tubules were exposed after 0.5 mm of deep abrasion using a carbide bur and EDTA gel application. After each treatment, dentin permeability, tubule occlusion, and chemical elements on dentin were analyzed. There was a significant difference among groups in dentin permeability (p < 0.05 ANOVA). Groups 4, 5, and 6 showed the lowest values, while Groups 1, 7, and 8 exhibited the highest. Groups 1, 2, 3, 7, and 8 showed open dentinal tubules, Groups 4 and 5 had partial tubule occlusion, and most of the tubules in Group 6 were obliterated. Energy-dispersive x-rays revealed similar chemical characteristics among the experimental agents used, with traces of strontium, fluoride, sodium, and potassium. Within the limits of the study, 3% potassium oxalate gel showed the best results in terms of dentin permeability and dentinal tubule occlusion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Conventional non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs have been widely used in the control of postoperative pain, but sparse information is a variable on the efficacy of celecoxib, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor, or dexamethasone, a steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, after periodontal surgeries. The purpose of the present study was to compare the use of celecoxib and dexamethasone in the management of pain after mucoperiosteal flap surgery. Methods: A randomized double-masked cross over clinical trial was conducted on 20 patients from 27 to 52 years old with generalized moderate to advanced chronic periodontitis. Mucoperiosteal flap surgeries for scaling and root planing were performed under local anesthesia on at least three quadrants, with a 4-week interval between. Each quadrant was randomly assigned to one of the following medication protocols: placebo, 4 mg dexamethasone 1 hour before surgery and 8 hours after the first dose, and 200 mg celecoxib 1 hour before surgery and 12 hours after the first dose. Postoperative pain was accessed during the first 8 hours and on the following 3 days using the visual analog scale (VAS), the 101-point numerical rate scale (NRS-101), and the four point verbal rating scale (VRS-4). Results: Pain perception was statistically significantly lower in the celecoxib group than in the placebo group during the first 4 hours using VAS (P=0.0l) and at 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 hours using NRS-101 (P= 0.03). The level of pain was lower in the dexamethasone group than in the placebo only at the 3-hour period (P=0.001). Statistically significant differences could be found among the groups at 1 hour (P= 0.015), 3 hours (P=0.004), 4 hours (P = 0.02), and 7 hours (P= 0.05) using VRS-4. There was no statistically significant difference between the celecoxib and dexamethasone groups. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that the preemptive and postoperative use of celecoxib or dexamethasone were effective in the management of postoperative pain following open-flap debridement. This in vivo study evaluated the clinical performance of class II restorations, in primary molars after 12 months. Three restorative techniques were used: filling the cavities in bulk; filling with three horizontal increments and placement in three horizontal increments using pre-polymerized composite inserts. The composite resin used was Prisma TP.H (Caulk-Dentsply) with the adhesive system ScotchbondMultipurpose (3M). Initially 90 class II restorations were placed in 27 patients from 8 to 10 years of age and followed-up for 12 months. After this period 55 restorations were evaluated for anatomic form, color alterations at the margins, presence of decay and marginal adaptation. The results showed that all groups presented similar rates of wear, the bulk insertion technique showed better results for marginal adaptation, color alterations of the margins and less presence of caries at occlusal margins, and that composite resin TP.H could be used in class II restorations in primary molars. AbstractThis work is framed within the field of Political and Environmental Psychology. It aimed to analyse environmental activism as a pro-environmental behaviour and as a type of political participation within socio-environmental organizations. Specifically, it was interesting to analyse the differences between a group of activists and a group of non-activists in terms of certain psycho-social (environmental risk perception, environmental concern, social values and knowledge about environmental problems) and psycho-political variables (individual political participation and political ideology). 401 young and adult citizens from the city of Córdoba (Argentina) participated in the study (54.6% female), of which 86.3% were non-activists. In order to achieve the goals of our research, we carried out a correlational study. With a view to finding possible differences between the activist and non-activist groups we applied an ANOVA and a Chi Square analysis to the psycho-social and psycho-political variables. Results show differential psycho-social and psycho-political profiles between activists and non-activists.

- Abstract
AbstractGrowth of ‘Fiesta Gitana’ calendula (Calendula officinalis) in growth medium prepared from 75% (vol.) composted willow (Salixsp.) sawdust (WS), with or without additional nitrogen (N) (4% w/w) during composting, and 25% (vol.) perlite was examined. Total plant dry matter, dry matter partition to flowers, and plant height at 77 days after planting were similar in media containing composted WS to values in achieved in a sphagnum peat:perlite (75:25, vol.) control medium. Relative to these media, non‐composted WS:perlite (75:25, vol.) resulted in average reductions of total dry matter (57%), dry matter partition to flowers (50%), plant height (43%), flower diameter (73%), and flower buds per plant (82%). In a further study, increasing the proportion of N‐enriched composted WS in perlite from 25% to 75% did not affect total dry matter, plant height, or flower number per plant of ‘Fiesta Gitana’ calendula or ‘Perfection Gold’ marigold (Tagetes erecta) compared to values achieved in the sphagnum peat:perlite (75:25, vol.) control medium. Since flower diameter decreased in both species when the N‐enriched composted WS exceeded 50%, we suggest that this “waste” product can substitute for all the sphagnum peat, but should not exceed 50% volume in a perlite mixture.

- Abstract
Willow (Salix sp.) sawdust (WS) is used as a component of growing media in horticultural crops and potted plant production in Santa Fe, Argentina. We evaluated the use of the germination bioassay as an indicator of WS maturity/phytotox-icity by comparing bioassays results with dry matter production of plants growing in the same substrate. Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) seeds were sown on filter paper moistened with extracts of WS composted for different times. Germinated seeds were counted (G) and the radicle growth (L) measured. Germination index (Gi) = G/G0 × L/L0 × 100, where G0 and L0 are values obtained using distilled water (control). The global germination index (GI) was the Gi average of the 50 and 75% extract dilution. GI of lettuce increased from 5% in the non-composted WS to 93.3% in the WS composted for 40 days. GI did not change significantly after 40 days of composting. Calendula dry matter production increased from 8 g/plant in non-composted WS to 17.1 g/plant in WS composted for 40 or 60 days. The addition of nitrogen and pH corrector did not affect GI of the WS growth media but they both increased calendula dry matter production to 21.1-22.7 g/plant when WS composted for 40 or 60 days was used as a growth medium.

Abstract: Purpose: To assess and compare the efficacy of two different dexamethasone protocols on pain prevention following periodontal surgery. Methods: 60 subjects presenting moderate to severe periodontitis with persisting clinical signs of inflammation after nonsurgical periodontal therapy on at least two adjacent teeth were scheduled for open flap debridement surgeries. This was a double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial. Each patient was randomly assigned to receive one of the following preoperative medication protocols, 1 hour before surgery: Protocol 1 (PI): 4 mg dexamethasone, and another 4 mg 8 hours after the first dose; P2: 8 mg dexamethasone; P3: placebo. Pain intensity was evaluated hourly for the first 8 hours after surgery using the visual analogue scale (VAS). For ethical reasons, patients were instructed to use acetaminophen 750 mg as a rescue medication, only in case of pain. Results: P2 demonstrated to be more effective than P3 at all time periods, except for the 2nd hour. P2 was also superior to PI at 1-(Kraskal-Wallis; P= 0.034), 5- (P= 0.03), 6- (P=0.04), 7- (P= 0.005) and 8-hour (P= 0.01) periods. The need for rescue medication was significantly prevented when P2 was used (ANOVA; P= 0.02). (Am J Dent 2011 ;24:354-356). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The influence of chemical plaque control, using topically applied 0.12% chlorhexidine, on the severity of cyclosporin A (CsA)‐induced gingival overgrowth (GO) was evaluated. Forty Holtzman rats were divided into four groups: 1) control; 2) cyclosporin A: a 10mg/kg/day subcutaneous dose of CsA; 3) chlorhexidine: 0.12% chlorhexidine (CHX) was applied to the buccal surface of the right mandibular molars; and 4) cyclosporin A/chlorhexidine: a combination of the treatment described for cyclosporin A and chlorhexidine groups. The animals were fed a high sucrose diet during the experiment and were sacrificed after 14 and 21 days. The histometric analysis revealed a significant increase in buccal gingival area in the cyclosporin A group compared to other groups (P< 0.01) after 21 days. The epithelium thickness of the buccal gingiva was significantly increased in the cyclosporin A group, compared to the control group (P< 0.05). The cyclosporin A/chlorhexidine group exhibited statistically significantly lower gingival overgrowth than the cyclosporin A group. These findings, if replicated in human studies, suggest that topically applied 0.12% chlorhexidine may be a valuable measure in the management of cyclosporin‐induced gingival overgrowth. Peritoneal mesothelioma (PM) is a rare disease, with a poor prognosis. We decided to prospectively evaluate the prognostic impact and the morbimortality of cytoreductive surgery combined with intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion in the treatment of this clinical entity. Sixty one patients with PM (31 males and 30 females) were enrolled onto a Phase II multicentric clinical trial. The mean age was 51 years (range: 24-72). CRS was performed with peritonectomy procedures. The closed, opened and semi-closed abdomen techniques were employed for IPHP using cisplatin plus mitomycin-C or cisplatin and doxorubicin for 60/90 minutes under hyperthermic conditions (42.5 degrees C). One patient was operated on twice because of disease recurrence. Mean follow-up was 20 months (range: 0.1-76). Forty six (74%) patients were optimally cytoreduced. Five-year overall and 5 yr progression-free survivals were 54% and 37%, respectively. Completeness of cytoreduction was significantly associated with outcome. Twenty Grade III complications occurred in 14 (23%) patients and the most frequent one was digestive fistula/perforation (11%). No treatment-related mortality was recorded. CRS + IPHP was proven to be acceptable in terms of morbidity and mortality in patients with PM and suggest a positive impact on outcome. Further prospective controlled studies are warranted to confirm these results.

- Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of thiol-containing 1,2,5-oxadiazole N-oxide (TONO) derivatives and their use as monodentate coligands for the preparation of (99m)Tc complexes is presented. 3-Mercaptomethyl-4-phenyl-1,2,5-oxadiazol N(2)-oxide and 3-(4-mercaptophenylmethylidenhydrazinocarbonyloxymethyl)-4-phenyl-1,2,5-oxadiazol N(2)-oxide were successfully synthesized and combined with the tridentate ligand N,N-bis(2-mercaptoethyl)-N',N'-diethylethylenediamine (BMEDA) to prepare "3+1 mixed ligand" technetium complexes. The( 99m)Tc complexes were obtained in high yield and radiochemical purity using low concentration of ligand and coligand. An alternative procedure using a xantate and a disulphide precursor of 3-mercaptomethyl-4-phenyl-1,2,5-oxadiazol N(2)-oxide yielded the same complex. Biological evaluation of the potentiality of the( 99m)Tc complexes as bioreductive radiopharmaceuticals was performed in normal CD1 mice and in mice bearing induced sarcoma. Tumour uptake was moderate but tumour/soft tissue ratio was favourable. Although these results are encouraging, further development is still necessary in order to achieve higher tumour uptake and lower gastrointestinal activity.
