Covalent grafting of dielectric films containing polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) on the surface of Cu(111) is performed by a one-step electrochemical reduction of diazonium salts. This method is efficient and economic and performs in a proton-polar solvent of deionized water and tetrahydrofuran (THF), where the monomer employs an octavinylsilsesquioxane (OVS) containing a POSS core. The eight vinyl bonds contained in OVS are used to participate in aryl radical-initiated polymerization reactions to form films. The formed film is dense and covers the copper surface completely and uniformly. The thickness of the film can be controlled by adjusting the reaction time. The components of the films are mainly polynitrophenyl (PNP) or polyaminophenyl (PAP) as well as poly(octavinylsilsesquioxane) (POVS), and the POVS content could be adjusted by the applied voltage. The introduction of POSS prevents the copper surface from being oxidized and often gives the film good properties such as good dielectric properties, mechanical properties, and thermal properties. In addition, the presence of Cu-O-C and Cu-C bonds between the film and copper interface is confirmed at different film thicknesses by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), which allowed the construction of covalent bonds between metal and nonmetal, further enhancing the bonding between the film and copper. Organic films prepared by electrochemical reduction of diazonium salts using OVS as a monomer will have potential significance for the future development of the electronics industry.

LMB-100 is a novel immune-conjugate (immunotoxin) that targets mesothelin. A phase 1/2 clinical trial was conducted (NCT02810418) with primary objectives assessing the safety and efficacy of LMB-100 ± nab-paclitaxel. Participant blood samples were analyzed for changes in serum cytokines and circulating immune cell subsets associated with response or toxicity. On Arm A, participants (n = 20) received standard 30-minute LMB-100 infusion with nab-paclitaxel. Although clinical efficacy was observed, the combination caused intolerable capillary leak syndrome (CLS), a major toxicity of unclear etiology that affects many immunotoxin drugs. Participants developing CLS experienced rapid elevations in IFNγ and IL-8 compared to those without significant CLS, along with midcycle increases in Ki-67- CD4 T cells that were CD38, HLA-DR, or TIM3 positive. Additionally, a strong increase in activated CD4 and CD8 T cells and a concurrent decrease in Tregs were seen in the single Arm A patient achieving a partial response. In Arm B, administration of single agent LMB-100 to participants (n = 20) as a long infusion given over 24-48 h was investigated based on pre-clinical data that this format could reduce CLS. An optimal dose and schedule of long infusion LMB-100 were identified, but no clinical efficacy was observed even in patients receiving LMB-100 in combination with nab-paclitaxel. Despite this, both Arm A and B participants experienced increases in specific subsets of proliferating CD4 and CD8 T cells following Cycle 1 treatment. In summary, LMB-100 treatment causes systemic immune activation. Inflammatory and immune changes that accompany drug associated CLS were characterized for the first time.

To elucidate the anti-inflammatory mechanism of Reduning Injection (RDN) by analyzing the potential biomarkers and metabolic pathways of the carrageenan-induced inflammatory model from the overall metabolic level.Rat inflammatory model was established by carrageenan. UPLC-Q-TOF/MS was used to detect and analyze changes of endogenous metabolites in the serum and urine of carrageenan-induced inflammatory rats. Combined with multivariate analysis and databases analysis, inflammatory-related potential biomarkers were screened and identified to analyze possible metabolic pathways. The reliability and biological significance of these biomarkers was verified by metabolic network analysis and correlation analysis with pharmacodynamic indicators.A total of 16 potential biomarkers were screened and identified by multivariate analysis and metabolite databases, among which 13 species could be adjusted by RDN. The metabolism pathway analysis revealed that histidine metabolism, sphingolipid metabolism, and tyrosine metabolism were greatly disturbed. Their biomarkers involved urocanic acid, sphingosine, and norepinephrine, all of which showed a callback trend after RDN treatment. The three biomarkers had a certain correlation with some known inflammatory-related small molecules (histamine, arachidonic acid, Leukotriene B4, and PGERDN has a good regulation of the metabolic disorder of endogenous components in carrageenan-induced inflammatory rats. And its anti-inflammatory mechanism is mainly related to the regulation of amino acid and lipid metabolism. This research method is conducive to the interpretation of the overall pharmacological mechanism of Chinese medicine.

The current study evaluated the efficacy and safety of a denosumab biosimilar, QL1206 (60 mg), compared to placebo in postmenopausal Chinese women with osteoporosis and high fracture risk. At 31 study centers in China, a total of 455 postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and high fracture risk were randomly assigned to receive QL1206 (60 mg subcutaneously every 6 months) or placebo. From baseline to the 12-month follow-up, the participants who received QL1206 showed significantly increased bone mineral density (BMD) values (mean difference and 95% CI) in the lumbar spine: 4.780% (3.880%, 5.681%), total hip :3.930% (3.136%, 4.725%), femoral neck 2.733% (1.877%, 3.589%) and trochanter: 4.058% (2.791%, 5.325%) compared with the participants who received the placebo. In addition, QL1206 injection significantly decreased the serum levels of C-terminal crosslinked telopeptides of type 1 collagen (CTX): -77.352% (-87.080%, -66.844%), and N-terminal procollagen of type l collagen (P1NP): -50.867% (-57.184%, -45.217%) compared with the placebo over the period from baseline to 12 months. No new or unexpected adverse events were observed. We concluded that compared with placebo, QL1206 effectively increased the BMD of the lumbar spine, total hip, femoral neck and trochanter in postmenopausal Chinese women with osteoporosis and rapidly decreased bone turnover markers. This study demonstrated that QL1206 has beneficial effects on postmenopausal Chinese women with osteoporosis and high fracture risk.

In our previous study, bisphenol S (BPS) was detected unexpectedly and at high levels in meat samples from 2016 and 2020 Canadian total diet study (TDS). In this study, samples of meat and meat products from 2008-2015 and 2017-2019 TDS were also analysed to investigate the consistency of BPS occurrence in meat and identify possible trends and provide some information on the potential sources for BPS in meat. BPS was detected again with the highest levels observed in samples of fresh pork (105 ng/g) and veal cutlets (140 ng/g) from the 2008 TDS. This indicates that the occurrence of BPS in meat is not a recent phenomenon but rather an existing one since 2008 or even earlier. BPS concentrations in meat samples from the 2008 to 2020 TDS varied significantly, e.g. 1.2-118 ng/g in roast beef, 1.8-140 ng/g in veal cutlets, but no trend was observed. The lack of trend for BPS over the period of 13 years (2008-2020) does not support the speculation that BPS is being used to replace BPA in food packaging, and sources other than food packaging may be possible and should be investigated for BPS.

Drought affects the normal growth and development of soybeans. Melatonin reportedly alleviates drought stress-induced growth inhibition and plant injury, thus, its foliar application presumably has considerable potential in agriculture. However, few studies have investigated the mechanism responsible for its effects on soybean nitrogen metabolism. In this study, pot culture and plant physiological detection, qPCR, and other methods were used for analysis. The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of melatonin and melanin on glutathione metabolism. The results showed that drought stress led to an increase in soluble protein and proline content, concomitantly with a decrease in the activity of nitrogen metabolism-related key enzymes, an increase in inorganic nitrogen content, and a reduction in nitrogen accumulation and transport. Exogenous melatonin application under drought stress significantly increased the expression of key genes involved in nitrogen metabolism and the activity of key enzymes including, GOGAT, NR, Gs and GDH. Enhanced enzyme activity promotes the conversion of nitrate nitrogen in plants, increases proline, soluble protein, and ureide contents, and, consequently, nitrogen accumulation. Altogether, these changes were conducive to greater nitrogen assimilation and transport. Therefore, under drought stress, melatonin application upregulated key genes involved in nitrogen metabolism, thereby enhancing the activity of related enzymes and restoring growth, stable biomass production. This study investigated the fracture characteristics of plain concrete and polypropylene fiber-reinforced concrete (PFRC) using pre-notched three-point bending beam tests with the digital speckle correlation method (DSCM). Then, the fracture instability behavior of the two types of beams was simulated in finite elements based on the plastic damage model and the cohesion model, for which the applicability was assessed. Furthermore, the stability of the Big Gang Mountain Dam made from plain concrete or PFRC subjected to the earth-quake loading was simulated with the plastic damage model. The results show that the limiting length of the non-local deformation zone can be used as an indicator of instability damage in a concrete structure. The simulation results of the plastic damage model agreed well with the local deformation in the pre-notched three-point bending beam test obtained from the DSCM. The plastic damage model was found to be capable of describing the residual strength phenomenon, which the cohesive model was not capable of. The damage evolution regions of the PFRC dam are strictly constrained in some regions without the occurrence of the local deformation band across the dam, and PFRC can dramatically reduce the failure risk under earthquake loading. The numerical solution proves that PFRC is an advisable material for avoiding failure in concrete dams.

In this paper, a Lotka–Volterra (L-V) competitor–competitor–mutualist system with time-varying delays is studied. Some dynamical behaviors of the considered system are investigated. Firstly, we obtain the boundedness, permanence and periodic solution of the system using the comparison principle of differential equations and inequality estimation method. Then, the global attractiveness of the system is analyzed by multiple Lyapunov functionals. Meanwhile, the existence and global attractivity of positive periodic solutions is derived. In the third section, in order to validate the practicability and feasibility of the obtained theoretical results, we conducted numerical simulations using MATLAB function ddesd. Finally, the fourth section is where conclusions are drawn.

This study utilizes the genetic algorithm (GA) and Levenberg–Marquardt (L–M) algorithm to optimize the parameter acquisition process for two commonly used viscoelastic models: 2S2P1D and Havriliak–Negami (H–N). The effects of the various combinations of the optimization algorithms on the accuracy of the parameter acquisition in these two constitutive equations are investigated. Furthermore, the applicability of the GA among different viscoelastic constitutive models is analyzed and summarized. The results indicate that the GA can ensure a correlation coefficient of 0.99 between the fitting result and the experimental data of the 2S2P1D model parameters, and it is further proved that the fitting accuracy can be achieved through the secondary optimization via the L–M algorithm. Since the H–N model involves fractional power functions, high-precision fitting by directly fitting the parameters to experimental data is challenging. This study proposes an improved semi-analytical method that first fits the Cole–Cole curve of the H–N model, followed by optimizing the parameters of the H–N model using the GA. The correlation coefficient of the fitting result can be improved to over 0.98. This study also reveals a close relationship between the optimization of the H–N model and the discreteness and overlap of experimental data, which may be attributed to the inclusion of fractional power functions in the H–N model.

Depression and medical social support were assessed using the Center for Streaming Depression Scale (CES-D) and the Medical Social Support Scale (MOS-SSS). The structural equation model was used to examine the relationship between medical social support and depression.Results: Sixty-one of 115 participants developed depressive symptoms with a prevalence of 53.0%. The results of univariate analysis showed that ethnicity, health status, mean monthly income, antiviral treatment status, and medical social support influenced PLWHA depression (P< 0.05). Simple linear regression showed that health status (95% CI: − 9.901~-2.635), and antiviral treatment status (95% CI: − 12.969~-3.394) influent depression (P< 0.05). There were associations between total medical social support, practical support dimension, message and emotional support dimension, social interactive cooperation dimension, emotional support dimension and depression (unadjusted and adjusted for contextual factors) (P < 0.05). Using multiple linear regression analyses, we found that medical-social support was negatively associated with depression with a standardized effect value of − 0.223. PLWHA with higher medical social support had lower prevalence of depression.Conclusion: The results indicate that the prevalence of depression among HIV/AIDS patients in Guilin is high. So the joint efforts of individuals, families, and society are needed to improve the physical and mental health of the PLWHA.Keywords: older people living with HIV/AIDS, medical social support, depression, structural equation model, SEM

Strain KLBMP 9083T, a novel actinobacterium, was isolated from weathered soils collected from a karst area in Anshun, Guizhou Province, PR China. The taxonomic position of strain KLBMP 9083T was studied using the polyphasic approach. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that strain KLBMP 9083T formed a stabilized monophyletic clade with its closest relative strain Antribacter gilvus CGMCC 1.13856T (98.4 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity). The peptidoglycan hydrolysates contained alanine, glutamic acid, threonine and lysine. The polar lipids were composed of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylinositol mannoside, an unidentified phosphoglycolipid, an unidentified phospholipid and an unidentified glycolipid. The predominant menaquinones were MK-9(H8) (87.1 %), MK-9(H6) (7.3 %) and MK-9(H4) (5.6 %). The major fatty acids (>10 %) were anteiso-C15 : 0 and iso-C15 : 0. The genomic DNA G+C content was 72.3 mol%. The digital DNA–DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity values between strain KLBMP 9083T and A. gilvus CGMCC 1.13856T were 23.4 and 79.9 %, respectively. On the basis of morphological, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic characteristics, strain KLBMP 9083T represents a novel species of the genus Antribacter , for which the name Antribacter soli sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is KLBMP 9083T (=CGMCC 4.7737T=NBRC 115577T).

Transition metal and rare earth intermetallics have been a fertile playground for the study of various quantum states. In this work, we report detailed magnetic studies on SmMn2Ge2, an anisotropic itinerant magnet with multiple magnetic phases. We investigated the critical behavior of the ferromagnetic phase transition by the modified Arrott plot (MAP) and Kouvel-Fisher (KF) method. The critical temperature T C is determined to be around 342.7 K with critical exponents of β = 0.417 and γ = 1.122, and the interaction function is found to be J(r)~r -4.68, suggesting the coexistence of long-range and short-range magnetic interactions. Our results contribute to the understanding of complex magnetism in SmMn2Ge2, which may provide fundamental guidance in future spintronic applications.

High lattice thermal conductivity of intrinsic GeTe limits the wide application of GeTe-based thermoelectrics. Recently, the optimization of GeTe-based thermoelectric materials has been focusing on reducing lattice thermal conductivity via strengthening phonon scattering. In this study, we systematically studied thermoelectric properties of Se-alloyed Ge0.95Bi0.05Te via theoretical calculations, structural characterizations, and performance evaluations. Our results indicate that Se-alloying can induce dense point defects with mass/strain-field fluctuations and correspondingly enhance point defect phonon scattering of the Ge0.95Bi0.05Te matrix. Se-alloying might also change chemical bonding strength to introduce resonant states in the base frequency of Ge0.95Bi0.05Te matrix, which can strengthen Umklapp phonon scattering. Finally, a decreased lattice thermal conductivity from ∼1.02 W m−1 K−1 to ∼0.65 W m−1 K−1 at 723 K is obtained in Ge0.95Bi0.05Te1-xSex pellets with increasing the Se content from 0 to 0.3. A peak figure of merit of ∼1.6 at 723 K is achieved in Ge0.95Bi0.05Te0.7Se0.3 pellet, which is ∼77% higher than that of pristine GeTe. This study extends the understanding on the thermoelectric performance of GeTe.
