Lecturers in Nigerian universities, according to literature, are subjected to challenging workplace conditions that tends to inhibit their performance and subsequently, their ability to achieve the teaching, research and community development service functions of their job description. It, therefore, becomes pertinent that the work performance of lecturers be analysed to either support or negate existing literature on the subject matter. This study is qualitative in nature and data was gathered through in-depth interview schedule from nine universities across Southwestern Nigeria (three Federal universities, three State universities and three Private universities). Three face-to-face individual interviews were held with academic staff who were Heads of Department and/or Deans in each of the selected universities giving a total of 27 of such interviews.Data were analysed using content analysis. The study found out that there are hinderances surrounding the work performance of lecturers particularly in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and productivity due to challenging poor working conditions such as erratic power supply, increased workload, absence of certain office facilities and lack of research funds. This study thus supports existing literature.

Nigerian universities have been attributed to lack of funds, inadequate infrastructure, improper teaching aids (laboratories, projectors, libraries, and computers) and irregular or lack, thereof, of salary as evidenced in some states in Nigeria. It is of little wonder then that the work performance of academic staff will spiral down particularly in terms of their teaching and supervision, research and publication and their involvement in community development services. This study, therefore, assessed teaching and supervision load of lecturers in some selected universities in Nigeria. Data were obtained using semi-structured questionnaire from nine universities. Through proportional sampling technique, 25% of the academic staff in each university were selected giving a total of 969 as the sample size. Data were analyzed using SPSS. The results showed that teaching and supervision load of the academic staff was quite heavy; hence, concluding that the performance of academic staff in terms of their teaching and supervision in the selected universities is unsatisfactory.

Because of the multicultural nature of Nigerian schools, most employees, particularly teachers, are exposed to one or more psychological hazards at work. In Nigeria, psychosocial work hazards are frequent, but no research has been done to see how lecturers' demographics affect their psychosocial work hazards. As a result, the impact of marital status and qualification on the psychological work hazards of plant science and science education lecturers was investigated in this study. The study used a quantitative research approach and an ex-post fact research design with a sample of 87 teachers from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The researchers adapted a 28-item questionnaire on work deviant behaviour to collect data for the study. The questionnaire items have internal consistency reliability of 0.76. Mean and analysis of variance were used to analyze the data. The study's findings demonstrated that lecturers' marital status and qualifications had no bearing on their psychological work hazards. This suggests that the marital status and qualification of lecturers are not significant factors in their psychosocial work hazards. As a result, it was recommended that university authorities be equitable in their handling of psychosocial work hazards of lectures, taking into account their marital status and qualification.

The article deals with preparation of lecturers for research-based teaching in the framework of professional development programs at European universities. It has been noted that the development of professional competencies among lecturers, necessary for such teaching, is determined by 2 factors: the orientation of the institutional policy and corporate culture of a higher educational institution towards the introduction of a holistic system of teaching based on research, as well as professional development programs at university aimed at improvement of existing professional competencies and acquisition of the new ones. The article analyzes the experience of University College London (UK) and the University of Gohenheim (Germany) in preparation of lecturers for research-based teaching. It has been confirmed that these higher educational institutions have implemented a holistic research-based teaching system, as well as extensive professional development programs for lectures to prepare them for such teaching, including not only trainings, but also individual consultations and seminars, mentoring support from more experienced colleagues, manuals, scientific resources, online directories, etc. The article presents actual examples of introduction by lecturers of a holistic research-based teaching system into the educational process at all educational levels.

We describe an automated assessment process for team-coding assignments based on DevOps best practices. This system and methodology includes the definition of Team Performance Metrics measuring properties of the software developed by each team, and their correct use of DevOps techniques. It tracks the progress on each of metric by each group. The methodology also defines Individual Performance Metrics to measure the impact of individual student contributions to increase in Team Performance Metrics. Periodically scheduled reports using these metrics provide students valuable feedback. This process also facilitates the process of assessing the assignments. Although this method is not intended to produce the final grade of each student, it provides very valuable information to the lecturers. We have used it as the main source of information for student and team assessment in one programming course. Additionally, we use other assessment methods to calculate the final grade: written conceptual tests to check their understanding of the development processes, and cross-evaluations. Qualitative evaluation of the students filling relevant questionnaires are very positive and encouraging. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

QUALITY of work life ,TEACHING experience ,PUBLIC institutions ,JOB stress ,MANN Whitney U Test - Abstract
Introduction: Work-related stress (WRS) is a highly prevalent and pervasive problem that can result in loss of productivity and deterioration of a lecturer's health. Lecturing work requires coping with some of the stressful situations found in any workplace to have a favourable quality of work life. The study determined the influence of sex, years of teaching experience, and academic rank on work-related stress, coping mechanisms, and quality of work life among lecturers at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU). Method: This was a cross-sectional survey involving 283 lecturers consecutively recruited from NAU after proportionate randomization of the lecturers in 101 departments. The Health and Safety Executive Work Related stress (HSE-WRS), Work-Related Quality of life (WRQL), and Brief-cope Questionnaires (BCQ) were applied to assess the participant's work-related stress, quality of work life, and coping mechanism (CM) respectively. Data were analyzed using Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests at a 0.05 level of significance. Result: Sex, years of teaching experience, and academic rank had statistically significant influence on 14 subsets of coping mechanism with p-values =0.01. Years of teaching experience had a statistically significant influence on work-related stress (p = 0.00). Sex, years of teaching experience, and academic rank did not influence work-related quality of life in a statistically significant way. Conclusion: There was a statistically significant influence of sex, years of teaching experience, and academic rank on coping strategies of lecturers. Also, a statistically significant influence of years of teaching experience on work related stress of lecturers was ascertained and revealed that male lecturers coped better with the rigorous demands of the job compared to female lecturers. LECTURERS , *CONVERSATION , *GRAMMAR , *AMBIGUITY , *SOCIAL action , *VERSIFICATION - Abstract
In everyday interactions with one another, speakers not only say things but also do things like offer, complain, reject, and compliment. Through observation, it is possible to see that much of the time people unproblematically understand what others are doing. Research on conversation has further documented how speakers' word choice, prosody, grammar, and gesture all help others to recognize what actions they are performing. In this study, we rely on spontaneous naturally occurring conversational data where people have trouble making their actions understood to examine what leads to ambiguous actions, bringing together prior research and identifying recurrent types of ambiguity that hinge on different dimensions of social action. We then discuss the range of costs and benefits for social actors when actions are clear versus ambiguous. Finally, we offer a conceptual model of how, at a microlevel, action ascription is done. Actions in interaction are building blocks for social relations; at each turn, an action can strengthen or strain the bond between two individuals. Thus, a unified theory of action ascription at a microlevel is an essential component for broader theories of social action and of how social actions produce, maintain, and revise the social world. The coronavirus pandemic has caused a shift in how many teaching, learning and research activities are conducted internationally. Lockdowns compelled all education sectors, including higher education (HE), to adopt a variety of online learning practices at short notice. As these changes in practice have implications beyond the pandemic, more needs to be understood about settings across the globe where the move to online may pose particular challenges. This study brings a focus to how lecturers in a college of education in Nigeria responded to the professional demands of lockdowns and developed strategies for managing educational activities that have relevance during and beyond the pandemic itself. The aim of the study reported in this paper was to examine lecturers' perceptions of the management of teaching, learning and research activities during a lockdown, drawing out longer term implications. Data were collected through in-depth, one-to-one interviews with six lecturers from a college of education in Nigeria. Interview data were analysed qualitatively. Detailed analysis indicated that lecturers' strategies included encouraging students to engage in self-directed learning, as they uploaded learning materials on messaging groups and the college's e-learning platform. However, lecturers felt that the quality of teaching and assessment was compromised by factors including: irregular power supply, poor internet connection, high data costs and some students' limited digital skills. A particular concern was students' lack of interaction on the online platforms, which lecturers perceived to result in a more passive teaching and learning process. Lecturers also experienced difficulties undertaking research activities. A range of strategies and implications for the ongoing management of educational activities was discussed. The study offers insights into how some of the challenges encountered could be addressed to support sustainable online and blended teaching and learning in the longer term, in settings internationally where there are barriers to accessing online teaching and learning. Crucial aspects include strengthening educational technology training for lecturers and students, enhancing e-learning platforms for teaching practical courses, and enabling lecturers to develop beneficial and valuable online resources. This paper is an extension of our 2021 research into pre-service teachers' linguistic autobiographies in a culturally diverse South African university. The paper, which is presented as conversations, examines what we learned about ourselves and our students through their reflective writing, our reflective writing, and our ensuing conversations. For the previous research, the participants, all pre-service teachers of English, wrote their linguistic autobiographies. Prior to reading what students had revealed, we individually reflected on what we thought we would learn from these writings and wrote our linguistic autobiographies. Thereafter we engaged in conversations about our reflections. The findings were surprising as our conversations revealed as much about ourselves as about our students' linguistic journeys. We learned about our shortcomings and strengths and realised the value of critical friend conversations. We now know that these conversations should continue because lecturers and students benefit from such reflections and conversations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Considering that the relationship between workplace spirituality and organisational change has only recently sparked scholarly interest, the connection could be more evident, as research has only recently begun. Furthermore, there is a growing tendency to add spirituality as the fourth dimension to sustainability in addition to the environment, social responsibility, and the economy. This study contributes to the academic literature by examining the influence of workplace spirituality on lecturers' responses to change in their commitment to change and change-oriented organizational citizenship behaviour (C-OCB). Private universities in Banjarmasin, Indonesia, were selected to research these links. To collect data from 1050 instructors, self-administered questionnaires were used, and structural equation modelling (SEM) was performed. The findings demonstrated that the workplace spirituality level, exemplified by a solid connection to a higher power, humanity, and nature, affects the lecturers' commitment to change leading to change-oriented organizational citizenship behaviour (C-OCB), a dimension of OCB less researched. The findings offer a novel perspective on the relationship between workplace spirituality, lecturers' attitudes towards change, and change-oriented organizational citizenship behaviour (C-OCB) in higher education. Since this result has not been examined in the context of change in higher education, several consequences and suggestions for future research emerge. More studies could be used in future research, given that the literature in this area is still in its early stages. The current work is expected to spark future research on this intriguing and fertile issue. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigated the mediating influence of lecturers and students' characteristics on the acquisition of research skills among postgraduate students. We adopted a correlational research design involving (n = 628) postgraduate students who participated in the study. Two instruments, titled Postgraduate Lecturers' Characteristics Form (PLCF) and Postgraduate Students' Characteristics and Acquisition of Research Skills Questionnaire (PSCARSQ), were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using SPSS and WarpPLS computer-based statistical software. Results showed that the hypothesized causal model that describes the mediating influence of lecturers' and students' characteristics on the acquisition of research skills among postgraduate students in Nigerian universities was not significantly supported by the empirical data. It was also revealed that the magnitude of all the estimated direct effects of lecturers' and students' characteristics on postgraduate students' acquisition of research skills were statistically significant. The lecturer-student relationship contributed significantly to students' attitude towards research, time spent on studying and acquisition of research skills. The implication of this finding is that postgraduate lecturers and students need to establish and maintain a good interpersonal relationship, in order to foster mentorship and adequate acquisition of research skills among the students. Conventional real estate education emphasises the application of knowledge from various disciplines. While this approach has its merits, its efficacy is affected by the stage of development of the discipline referenced. A notable case in point is the adoption of financial technologies (or FinTech) in real estate. How we prepare our next generation with creative thinking skills, an innovation mindset, and a risk-taking attitude to embrace the rapid transformation to an innovation-based economy is therefore critical. In this study, we advocate that the case study method is an effective teaching pedagogy that enables students to learn from analysing real cases and applying knowledge from a complex discipline in real estate. The method motivates students to acquire new knowledge to establish new practices and theories in innovative applications, such as FinTech, in real estate. This study provides a teaching reflection on adopting the case study method in an undergraduate Property Technology (PropTech) course. Students are required to use real business cases to analyse how FinTech is solving real estate problems. Discussions with lecturers and peer reviews in the online discussion forum enable students to wrestle with the knowledge they learn and encourage an atmosphere of knowledge co-creation. COLLEGE teachers ,COVID-19 vaccines ,COVID-19 ,COLLEGE students ,COVID-19 pandemic - Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic imposed a pressing global threat. Vaccines against COVID-19 are a key tool to control the ongoing pandemic. The success of COVID-19 vaccination programs will largely depend on public willingness to receive the vaccine. This study aimed to evaluate the acceptability of COVID-19 vaccines among university students and lecturers in four different provinces of Indonesia. An anonymous, cross-sectional study was conducted online among university students and lecturers in Indonesia between 23 December 2020 and 15 February 2021. Of 3433 respondents, 50.3% stated that they would accept COVID-19 vaccination, while 10.7% expressed unwillingness and 39% were not sure about receiving the vaccine. Concern regarding the side effects after COVID-19 vaccination was the main reason among the participants for not willing to receive the vaccine. Being male, associated with the health sector, having a higher monthly expenditure and having health insurance could increase the acceptability of the COVID-19 vaccine. Low trust in the government and low confidence towards vaccine safety and efficacy could hinder participants' decision to be vaccinated. Simple, clear and fact-based information from trusted sources on a regular basis will be important for building confidence towards the COVID-19 vaccination program in Indonesia. LECTURERS - Abstract
This study aimed to describe the reflection of the professionalism of general English lecturers at USN Kolaka. This reflection was very important as the first gateway for evaluating the quality of general English learning at USN Kolaka. The study was motivated by the university's low state of general English learning. For this purpose, this study used a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through questionnaires and in-depth interviews with 8 (eight) general English lecturers at USN Kolaka. The results of the questionnaire showed that the 8 (eight) lecturers reflected on their professionalism at a high level, In contrast, the results of the interview confirmation showed that every professional indicator has been carried out but not optimally. Thus, it was concluded that there was an effort by the general English lecturer at USN Kolaka to improve their professionalism. This study recommends follow-up support from the university to increase the number of lecturers in terms of good governance management process for lectures welfare. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Studies in Padua became firmly established in Polish intellectual culture primarily as a place for the education of eminent representatives of the First Republic, from whom a rich writing legacy remains. Hence, among the wide range of so-called 'Paduan' people identified, writers and poets are associated with the Paduan Athenaeum in the first place, followed by medics, especially professors and lecturers at the Kraków Academy, or royal secretaries. The article addresses the hitherto overlooked issue of military education, and in the wider context of military culture, encountered by students arriving from Poland to a university city under the strict control of the Republic of Venice. Research in this area makes it possible to better understand not only, for example, the European circulation of knowledge on the art of fortification, but also the origins of the Zamoyski Academy or the sources of the assimilation of the idea of honour into Polish language and culture. The purpose of this study was to examine the lecturer's awareness, perception, and utilization of institutional repositories in two universities in Nigeria. The universities include Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of Jos. The research design adopted for the study was correlational research design, while the questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. The questionnaire was grouped into five sections and most of the questions were close-ended. Also, the validity and reliability of the questionnaire were done in order to obtain the desired results. Out of 642 questionnaires distributed, 473 were completed, returned, and found suitable for use. Descriptive and inferential statistics were then used to analyze the data. The findings revealed that lecturers' level of awareness of IRs was moderate, this was indicated by a weighted average of 2.58 (65%). The findings also revealed the lecturer's major sources of awareness of IRs were through University's website 417 (88.2%), library sensitizations 286 (60.5%), and colleagues 288 (60.9%). The Majority of the lecturers slightly utilized IRs 243 (51.4%) for depositing scholarly materials. However, the majority of the lecturers indicated that they did not encounter many constraints when utilizing the repositories. In the course of the study, three hypotheses were tested and the findings from the hypotheses revealed that there was a positive significant relationship between awareness and utilization of IRs, perception, and utilization of IRs, awareness, and perception of the importance of IRs. It was concluded that an increase in the awareness and perception of IRs by lecturers increases their utilization of the IRs. Hence, recommendations were made to the library management of the two universities to intensify their advocacies, awareness campaigns, and sensitization excises in order to increase awareness and perception of lecturers which would in turn increase the utilization of the repositories. Tertiary education is essential as it helps to boost economic growth, reduce poverty, and promote shared prosperity, leading to a higher demand for higher education worldwide. International business promotes not only the exchange of goods and services but also the transfer of resources, ideas, and people. As a result, tertiary education institutions are expanding their abroad programmes in order to attract students interested in international education. However, the unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19 has strongly affected tertiary education, as most countries have implemented travel restrictions and prohibited people from entering or leaving. Therefore, online learning was implemented worldwide in order to overcome the challenges. Nonetheless, students are able to attend classes at any location as long as they have a stable internet connection. In addition, the concept of online learning reduces the time and travel costs for students to attend physical classes. Moreover, online lectures are able to be recorded, allowing students to review and revise previous lectures they would have missed. However, there are challenges to online learning, such as a lack of motivation and interaction between students and lecturers, poor teaching quality due to a lack of technical skills, and students who are easily distracted. This study will examine the adoption of online platforms for teaching and learning in the higher education industry and its prospects for higher productivity and a positive impact on environmental sustainability. Background and Purpose: The initiatives to improve the students' competency level is closely related to the quality of the lecturers. Lecturers play a very crucial role because they are responsible for teaching students of higher education institutions. A high-quality lecturer is believed to greatly influence their students' ability and competency. This study is to identify the level of lecturers' quality based on role-performance in teaching Mandarin in MARA Education Institutions (IPMA), specifically in Kolej Profesional MARA (KPM), Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA (KUPTM) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UNIKL). Methodology: This descriptive study used a survey method to collect data. The respondents comprise a population of students who study Mandarin as a third language course in IPMA, which is represented by Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UNIKL), Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA (KUPTM), and Kolej Profesional MARA (KPM). 150 students were selected as respondents in the present study using a purposive sampling rather than random sampling. A Likert scale questionnaire is used to gather the data and SPSS software is used to statistically analyze the data. Results: Based on the mean value interpretation, the findings revealed that the lecturers' quality on role-performance falls under a Very High level (M=4.63, SD=0.49) which simultaneously indicated that these Mandarin lecturers had the desired professional qualities and were committed to high quality teaching practice. Contributions: These findings provide a better insight into the teaching of Mandarin in tertiary level education in Malaysia and in return can help to tailor professional learning activities to the professional development needs of lecturers. A way to be polite is to be polite. It is a wonderful quality. It demonstrates discipline. It means treating other people with consideration and respect. Each individual needs to hear beneficial things and see great ways of behaving toward themselves. As a result, it is critical to treat others with respect and kindness. Being polite is more than just saying nice things to other people; it also includes how we treat the animals and environment around us. For the most part, individuals show graciousness to senior faculty; this is a perilous pattern in a humanized world. Politeness is a sensitive topic, but till now, there have been no studies focusing on politeness. The current study focuses on the politeness of the students at Iraqi universities. It is a qualitative study since it conducted a number of in-depth interviews with both lecturers and students. The results show that politeness does play a role in the academic performance of the students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As a result of its negative consequences for college academics, workplace envy is one of the important areas to study and investigate its results. Thus, this study attempts to find out individuals' productivity affected by envy in the workplace (CWBI) and organizational citizenship behavior directly benefits individuals (OCBI) in the context of Iraqi colleges. A survey was conducted among the lecturers at Baghdad University's colleges in Iraq, with 182 lecturers representing a response rate of 50%. The researcher used twostep approach with partial least squares-structural equation modeling by Smart PLS to test the hypotheses. As anticipated, the research findings point that workplace envy positively influenced CWBI (accepting H1). Furthermore, results indicated that workplace envy negatively influenced OCBI (accepting H2). The results of this research have various implications for colleges in general and Iraqi colleges in particular. The scientific impact that the results of the present study will contribute to practitioners is demonstrated by highlighting the factors that lead to reducing CWBI and strengthening OCBI in colleges. To enhance the OCBI and minimize the CWBI in colleges, it is advised that the management should encourage academic cooperation and create a work environment suitable for the academics. This can be achieved by forming research teams to work on joint scientific projects and by allowing qualified academics to participate in teaching, supervising postgraduate students, and discussion committees. Providing positive organizational support can motivate the academics to perform better, exhibit responsible behavior, and become productive members of the college community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mathematical objects are the outcomes of human discourse and come to life through the process of objectification. Primary and concrete discursive objects (d-objects) play an important role in this process, forming different realizations through the objectification process. In the present study, we analyze the written discourses about the derivative at a point in fourteen Year 11 and Year 12 Iranian calculus textbooks over 42 years (1979–2020) in terms of primary objects, concrete d-objects, and the realizations used in them, here based on Sfard's commognitive theory. The research method is a qualitative content analysis in which the analysis units were texts, examples, activities, and exercises in the textbooks. The results show that out of the 14 textbooks, only five included primary and concrete d-objects. The other textbooks only used abstract objects in their written discourse about the derivative. The pictures (visual mediators) that were used as primary objects gradually changed from schematic to real colored photos, and locally developed technologies and cultural elements were included in the new textbook editions. Additionally, the number of concrete d-objects increased in the new editions. In terms of the realizations, the number of roots also increased over time; however, none of the textbooks had all five main realizations (i.e., symbolic, graphical, verbal, numerical, and physical) for the derivative at a point. The realization tree developed as part of this study can be used as an analytical framework to analyze calculus textbooks in other contexts and can be used by teachers and lecturers to help students have explorative participation in discourse on the derivative. This study investigated the beliefs and practices of university lecturers around assessment theories and their links with teaching practices. Given the discrepancies in the literature, the research explored the gap in theoretical understandings of summative and formative assessment and the relationship between them, as well as the relationship with lecturers' own practices. In total, 109 lecturers from a Colombian institution of higher education participated. An instrument consisting mainly of quantitative questions, with some qualitative questions, which was originally designed to investigate these beliefs and practices among higher education lecturers in England, was used. The translation, validation and reliability processes of the instrument were carried out. Thus, an exploratory factorial study was performed to establish the dimensions of the instrument, determining seven factors. The results indicate discrepancies between what lecturers understand by formative and summative assessment and their practices in the classroom. This coincides with the theoretical contradictions also found in the analysis of specialised literature. It is concluded that a detailed understanding of the discrepancies between beliefs and practices would be valuable in redesigning the ways in which the training of lecturers' assessment competencies is approached. This study is to investigate the academic entrepreneurship in Indonesia from an ambidexterity perspective. The aim of this research is to analyze the academic entrepreneurship in Indonesia from an ambidexterity perspective. This study utilized the theory of ambidexterity by Birkinshaw and Gibson, particularly contextual ambidexterity and employed a quantitative methodology with surveyed 155 lecturers from Public Universities in Indonesia using online questionnaire. Employing SPSS as a data processing method, the results show a significant number of lecturers who desire to become academic entrepreneurs, but a smaller percentage of lecturers who actively seek more information about academic entrepreneurs. This result indicate the gap between intention to become academic entrepreneur and the behavior as academic entrepreneur. Tests of statistical result also indicate that personal networking and the personal capabilities of lecturers have a significant impact on academic entrepreneurship. However, partial testing shows the affect of personal networking is not significant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This descriptive qualitative study explores lecturers' perspectives on Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) in New Zealand Tertiary Education Institutions (TEIs) during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Through in-depth semi-structured interviews with the five purposively selected lecturers from four TEIs, this article investigates the challenges and opportunities lecturers experienced in teaching during the pandemic. While the findings showed some opportunities that include enhanced flexibility, teacher creativity, and saving commute time to the workplace, they also demonstrate that the pandemic created three significant challenges of (i) socio-psychological, (ii) technological, and (iii) pedagogical nature. This study recommends that TEIs need to develop a crisis management action plan to mitigate teaching-learning difficulties in a similar kind of situation in the future. Additionally, TEIs could benefit by upskilling their lecturers and students to use digital literacy and virtual teaching and learning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ENGLISH language education ,LECTURERS - Abstract
The study investigated university lecturers' attitudes towards English medium instruction (EMI), reasons for EMI adoption, effects of EMI on official languages and lecturers' preference for language of instruction. It also examined the impact of gender, English proficiency, country and medium of instruction of lecturers' highest educational degree as well as their education level on their responses. A survey questionnaire was employed to collect data from 234 lecturers at four public universities based in the northeast of Afghanistan. The author used both descriptive and inferential statistics to analyse the data. The results showed that lecturers had strong positive attitudes towards EMI. They were in favour of EMI adoption at universities for various reasons, such as preparing students for national and international job markets. Although the lecturers were aware of the negative impacts of EMI on official languages and challenges against EMI implementation, the vast majority preferred EMI and bilingual education. The participants' English proficiency, country and medium of instruction in their highest educational degree as well as their educational level had a significant impact on their attitudes towards and preference for EMI.
